While I believe he has the best of intentions, he is not the best of professors. Class ALWAYS starts at least 15 minutes late, but he insists on keeping the class after the make up for his tardiness. While he teaches directly from the text he is very tangental and hard to follow which is frustrating if you're trying to learn.
very true. not recommended if you want to learn. barely gives any work but when grading time comes gives grades lower than received on assignments. class is entertaining but pointless.
Very good professor. All you have to do is about 1-2 assignments.Mid-term and final are take home essays. your grade depents on how well you did on the take home essays. The lower grade that he gives on these essays is b+ He is not an easy A but easy b or even b+.No homeworks, takes attendance
Comes late, goes off on his tangents, then tries to stuff 4 topics in during the last 10-15 mins. Stingy with A(s), so don't take him too lightly when doing your papers. Definitley has his favorites in the class. One class with him is enough.
You should have seen how he scammed his evaluator. The only day we actually learned something. He put on such a huge act. lol and it worked. Easy B. He has his favorites. He cares more if you don't learn than if you do learn.
Absolutely horrible!!! Picks favorites in class and very unfair in terms of grading. Comes in late, but puts up a good show for evaluators. You can be a hard working student and do everything as you are suppose to but if your're not one of the favorites you can forget about a good grade.
its so easy to be a favorite, and worth it. come to class every day even though he seems like he doesnt care, he really does, and sit in the front if possible, answer whenever possible and ull b fine
this guy is hilarious, hes less of a teacher and more of a buddy that you would probably cut class and smoke up with lol, just get to know him, and show up to class, sit in the front, and you will be fine. Even though he comes in late, you should be on time, besides that, only 2 assignments and thats it very simple general knowledge oriented cours
Great professor. That is all i have to say. Take him and you will not regret it.
professor is very easy to pass. Just show up and make your face known and that's it.
One of the good professor's at baruch, he is funny makes class interstesting and overall a nice person.
You'll learn nothing in this class. You are guaranteed at least a B+ if u show up every day & do the assignments. You don't have to do great in them. But you will not get an A if you are not one of his favorites. If you wanna take a professor who is fun and let's you out early, you should definitely take him. If you wanna learn, then take another 1
Def. one of the best professors at Baruch (and there aren't many). His humour, and his interest in the subject makes you learn better and quicker. You will never yawn in his lectures. He refers to you as his colleague not as a student.
He is very insightful. If you want real world knowledge, you will definitely get it from him. He really doesnt have a structured class, but does ask for participation and read. Very funny and entertaining. I like him. If you want a easy going class, then this is it.
i love him!!!!!
VERY NICE PROFESSOR....EASY CLASS.. EASY MATERIAL, EASY TESTS..U CAN NOT GO WRONG WITH HIS CLASSES AT ALL..love HIM...he loves postcards he collects them..
You will get a B+ without doing anything. This Fall08, he showed up half an hour late on the exam day and had no exam for the class. He had to rush to the copy center and throw something together on the spot. Nice.
Horrible class! The guy is BORING, you learn NOTHING and he is never prepared for class!!! It was a total waste of time and money! His syllabus was hand written! This class was a total JOKE!
Really wanna learn? Take other class. Has favorites.
Nice guy altough he can get annoying from time to time with all his non sense jokes. He's always late. Yiu don't really learn much from him, he just tells stories that are minimally related to what's on the textbook. Take him if you want a good grade without doing much.
This is an easy class and thank God for it. But note there are quizzes, 2 book reports, 6 one paragraph write-ups on mgt topics, a mid term and final. He is not very organized, tells alot of jokes, is always late even for the exam. BUT he is a great person and realizes that we are people and have lives outside of Baurch. A all the way..take him
great professor unorganized but who cares his class was a joke. Great guy who cares about his students. Make sure he knows you. Participate and you will get an easy A. He ask for easy assignments and you will enjoy his class...consider the class a break from your day.
Charismatic but annoying. He thinks his teaching methodology is "advanced" but it?s really an unorganized and unstructured class. He's always late and then goes 5 minutes over even though he promises he'll let you out early. He always apologizes for being late with a bad joke. You don't learn anything. He doesn't even have a syllabus.
Useless class. You learn nothing. He asks lots of questions, even if you give him a dumb answer he'll praise you for it. You can't be wrong with him. He seems to care for his students though he can get annoying. Take him if you want an easy A.
Take him if you want an easy A with minimum effort. Nice guy, tries to be funny although he gets annoying from time to time. His class is a joke. Highly recommended if you don't want to do much and learn nothing
Great professor, who is really trying to help his students. The whole class go through very funny and interesting. A boring concept will be made very easy to remember. It is easy A. Take him, you won't regret.
love this prof. he always goes beyond the subject, gives very clear examples and cares about students. he is funny and very helpfull. highly recommended.
Useless class but super easy A!!! :) take him!!!
Easy A if you participate; if not, you'll get a B. Just say stuff in class, smile, bring articles, and volunteer for a couple of mediations and he is going to love you.
You will get an A if you participate; if not, you'll get a B. Just say stuff in class, smile, bring articles, and volunteer for a couple of mediations and he is going to love you.
This guy definitely has favorites. Be carefull. If you are his favorite you get an easy A-. If not forget about your grade.
very nice and kind guy, but unclear about exam format, grade policy.the course syllabus was given a month after the semester began, he just gives lecture from the book. you don't learn much. I don't recommend. oh, huge writing assignments too.
This professor is one of the best i've ever had since i've been in Baruch, he's reslly easy, gives resl life experience stories and makes the subject very interesting, kina sloppy but u'll learn, class is easy anyways i got A+ on midterm. 4 short answer ques 1 long essay- TAKE HIM- he knew every1's name by 3rd class
totally agree with the last comment. this guy is unqualified to teach at Baruch. He needs to be eliminated.
I wrote a comment and it was taken down earlier. I will try not to curse. This professor is terrible and deceitful with the grading. He doesn't teach well. I didn't learn anything. I deserved an A but he gave me a B+.I got A on everything. i hate him so much. He has you believe you are doing well in the class and then throws a curve ball. The worst
He is the BEST! I felt lucky to be in his class, and wish my other professors could be more like him. Anyone who is saying anything bad about him obviously didn't pay too much attention and just expected to get an easy A because of how nice the Prof is. You learn at a casual and relaxed pace, but just dont slack when it comes to assignments.
He is a great professor. Very nice. A lot of assignments but very easy and short. Wish he was teaching more classes at Baruch. I don't know where those other comments about him being bad are coming from, unless they didn't do any of the work.
he might be easy but this class is a joke. He jokes about everything everyday..you know the jokes can get old, and they become so annoying. I wish I didnt register for this course.
a nice person, seems like an easy grader.. don't enjoy the in-class jokes/quality points at all.. 1 midterm, 1 final, 2 essays and 2 book reports are all 250-350 words. easy class
class is a joke. the assignments can be done in about 15 minutes. the course material is mostly common senese. just do some light studying for the tests. he likes giving a quiz on the first chapter because he knows no one will read it, if u do well u get xtracred. he is the nicest dude ever, corny as hell but really nice.
Great! Tells a lot of jokes in class, expects you to keep up with readings without reminding you and gives a couple small/easy pop quizzes. Keeps it interesting and fun. Read the chapters and participate in discussion and you will get an A. If you are struggling... talk to him, he's very helpful and understanding.
If you are mildly intelligent, just take another professor. The greater workload is nothing compared to the aggravation of receiving a random low grade. This guy places a grade on the essays in the beginning of class without even reading a sentence. Unless you are a great suck up, avoid this class. You'll only get upset at the end of the day.
Beware of this professor's grading policy because you will get screwed over at the end and receive a random grade which you do not deserve and once you get that grade there is no fighting it because he is lazy and impossible to reach as he doesn't respond to emails or even use black board.
Alright Guyz put the minimum afford . Since you will recieve a random grade. He is friendly and assignments are easy. But come on book report, article for management course?? Give me a break. Such a random grader. Thats all
Mgmt 3120- Great professor and very helpful! You should not get lower than a B if you follow the textbook
Despite negativity and a not too clear grading policy, he promotes positive vibe throughout the course. The course/material is easy but he cannot give everyone A's.. that's just the fact. But no one ever gets lower than a B in this class. Just work hard / Do your required work and put in an extra 10% effort and small talk. "A Guaranteed"
Wonderful! Easy A! He has a unique teaching style that others might not be used to BUT he is the most genuine professor I've ever had. He knows the material well & is fair when giving exams. If he forgets to cover a topic b/c of going on another tangent he'll take it off the exam. He actually cares about his students & remembers everyone by name.
Awesome professor! has A LOT of experience. Knows everyone by name. Very easy going, assignments are easy and EXTREMELY fair grader. Take his class!
He has a lot of life experience and finds a way to share them in every chapter. Great personality! His unique teaching style is above the expectations!! TAKE HIM!!! You'll learn a lot about life!!!
Easy Professor, But random grader. If you get a random grade and email him, he will not respond, never responds to any email, He can be quite boring.
OMG! This guy is amazin. Freaking love this guy. 4 papers and 4 tests, no midterms or finals. He wants us to read chapter first and take the quiz and then he goes over the quiz and other things that we neeed to know. He is super nice, know you by name from the first day and he takes attendence by welcoming you and asking how are we doing today!
He is down to earth guy. Even though he teaches late, it worth it. He never gets boring, always cheering you and its fairly easy class. If you own a subaru, u might get an A without even taking tests!lol
He is the nicest professor i have ever had!
Best professor ever! He cares for his students and respects every single person in the room. There are 10 question quizzes almost every week, very short, all you need to do is just read the chapter or his study guides. 4 essays, very short 350 words, about your experience and 4 exams. Memorize the vocabs and you'll do fine in the exams.
Nice sense of humor and is invested in all of his students. Grading criteria is pretty straight forward, he won't surprise you with anything
Very funny. A bit unorganized, but never faults the class because of it. He really cares about each students and is very understanding. His grading is straight forward, gives reviews before each test and assigns short essays. Overall good guy.
He was a great professor. I loved his class and learned alot. He always took the time to make you feel welcome and an actual person in the classroom. Id take him for another management course in a heartbeat.
No HW, but many quizzes. He's nice and respectful, knows every student by name. Be ready to learn by yourself, he covers only some fundamental points in class. He gives numerous handouts, very helpful. Test questions can be wrong, pay attention and ask him if you are concerned. Read chapters, do test preps, participate in class and you'll be fine.
He is an amazing professor. He is very inspirational. Before meeting him, I did not think that Baruch has such a motivational, and caring professor. He changed my thought about professors at Baruch. If you want a professor who cares about you, then TAKE HIM. I will definitely take him as many times as I can.
This professor uses class time as a stage for his (not so funny) comedy acts and gives imaginary points to people who pretend to laugh He's a decent guy but not a great professor. Not only do you not learn in this class but it's a waste of time. Easy A especially if you cheat like everyone does in the class. He either doesn't notice or doesn't care
Took this class last semester. The professor didn't really teach anything, just rambled about some experiences and was big on vocab for some reason. Prob for all the foreign students who speak broken English which is considerate but even they knew basic vocab we sometimes spent all class just giving synonyms to
Easy going class. Just go over his handouts (summarys for each chapter) at a slow pace and let's us out early. Takes attendance but he's usually late at least 10 mins every class and spends the first 10-15 letting us do whatever before he actually starts class lol. Take him
He is a legend. Take him if you get the chance. Best class ever.
HE IS SIMPLY THE BEST!
Professor McKechnie deserves all the respect in the world. My favorite in Baruch! He is reliable, professional and simply hilarious. He does not respect students who do not attend class since he loves each student equally and wants everyone to pass in the most successful way. If you're able to take him, PLEASE DO! Hint: Offer to help in any way!
SUPER NICE but he is always late and wastes a lot of time. People would come show up way too late and he would accept that as an attendance. Cares a lot about his students and has a lot of experience. Tries to make things as simple as he can. Exams aren't bad if you've read the textbook. Take him at your own risk (Time waster but easy A).
Super easy class, take it. There's no work, he just talks about random stuff. Attendance isn't mandatory, and the tests are straight off of quizlet (he doesnt look around during tests). If you dont get an A, you're literally dumb.
Take him. Easy A.
Agreed with the ratings below. Easy A, if you don't get an A you are actually dumb. Really nice professor and funny at times.
This man will go out of his way to help you. Great guy, great teacher, great class, great experience. He understands that it is more important to get the students to understand and learn things via oral communication and discussions in class than shoving a hundred pages of information down our throats only to forget them by next semester. Take him.
TAKE HIM! Super nice guy and really funny at times. Easy A and you can actually learn a lot from him if you don't space out. He does not lecture, instead he will make groups and have us do oral exercises related to the chapters we are on. Really wants to see his students do well. If you don't get an A, Just drop out of school.
He is the sweetest and nicest guy out there. Gives +20 points curve on the exams, which are purely from test bank/quizlet (so study connect hard). Other than that his lectures are quite useless. No material covered, always late. It is the easiest A, but also no knowledge gained.
He is fun to be around, but the material covered in class is not what's on the exams. connect homework questions are on the exams. Material is easy, but lectures are a waist of time. His class is not bad overall but I would not take him again if a better prof is available
Departmental exam that has nothing to do with what we discuss in class (study connect questions, that's why it's easy.) So much homework is due on Connect each week. Great guy but I learned nothing.
GREAT PROFESSOR! Just get the work done and you'll do great. Always made my day, genuine person, and tests are clear and straight to the point.
Professor McKechnie doesn't teach management. He teaches LEADERSHIP of people and organizations. If you care about learning how to lead and influence, you *must* make an effort and take his class. If you just want to get a good grade and acquire some textbook knowledge, please take somebody else. His class is for people who want to be leaders.
One of the nicest professors in Baruch and nicest people in the world. Will go above and beyond to make anyone that comes across his path more comfortable. Tests are easy and the class is just a good time. Always answers emails and any questions you have. Taking this man is a no brainer.
Professor McKechnie is awesome! Took him fall 2019 and man do I miss this class. 1 paper, 4 m/c exams which are all super easy if you follow the class. He's hilarious, makes the class go by super fast. Knows his stuff. I wish he taught other classes at Baruch. Take him, you won't regret it! Such a nice guy!!
The man is a legend. I didn't even take him this past semester; I thought of how nice he was a few semesters later just to come and rate him. Great man, learns everyone's names, easy material, easy class, easy A. No brainer.
His style of teaching is different, but encourages the class to engage which doesn't make it boring. Really funny guy and is one of the nicest and most enthusiastic professors I've encountered. Literally do all the work and you will get an A. If his class happens to be online, I do wish he was a bit more organized but he has improved!
PRof. Mckechnie is an awesome individual. He teaches by not giving lectures in class, he creates a discussion with real world examples. Tests are same questions as homework. The only downside I would say he is not quick with responding to emails, and is late with assigning work which was a huge necessity during this pandemic.
Hes one of the best Baruch Professors. He can give you tremendous advice for anything. Great teacher.
He's one of the best professors at Baruch! Very respectful towards students and overall a very nice teacher. A very interesting and easy class.
5 assignments per chapter (LS, Quiz, uber case study x2, self-assessment). Midterm & Final was a 500 word essay (easy grader). Cares for students and is willing to give life, career, personal advice. The only thing many didn't like was that you had to be on-time and present (calls on random people everyday). Ends class 5-15mins overtime. Recommend.
Professor Mckenzie is an easy A for sure but if you're looking for a class that explains the hw that's given, this is not your teacher. His lectures have nothing to do with the hw he has on connect and although he's nice, I didn't take this class to have discussions about trending topics. You also get assigned a group mini-project every week.
He is the best professor at Baruch that I've taken, in the sense of he is a genuine person who cares to get to know his students and cares about their well being. You won't learn too much taking his course though, not much is taught you have to pay attention to connect assignments. But he is truly a great guy! EASY A, I'd recommend him 100 times.
Easy A but you have to teach yourself. There is an easy midterm, an easy final, and a lot of connect activities that are also simple. Would not recommend him if you really want to learn management. He is hilarious and he cares for his students and even offers to help with internships. Get on his good side by attending class and teaching yourself!
Took him for MGT9301, super nice person, easy A. We had 1 midterm, 1 final noncumulative that was just vocabulary from the book. We also wrote 300 word essays for each chapter (12) of the book, although you could get away with doing less. Book was great and you'll mostly be learning from that as lectures (involve group work) weren't too organized.
Wonderful professor who teaches and cares about his students.
He is the BEST professor! Took MGT 9301 and Professor McKechnie is a knowledgeable, respected, and funny guy. He makes class interesting, engages students in conversations that are real and meaningful rather than just assigning nonsensical work that's forgotten after the semester is over. Wish he taught more grad classes!
Great Prof, fun class and specially love the book. As long as you read the book for quiz, write the assigned short paper every class and two papers for midterm and final.
Account was very straight forward, read a chapter, do a 10 question quiz. Chat about the chapter and how it applies to work. Two papers due in the semester for an easy A. He's also very funny and sweet, good introduction to graduate school.
Very kind man, could be more organized. His textbook was very informative.
Quizzes were based on each chapter from the text. Group discussions helped to further the learning. Really passionate professor. Could be more organized.
He is a very charming professor who develops real connections with his students. He promotes peer learning by inviting students to reflect upon their own corporate experiences. He follows the textbook strictly but also encourages constructive arguments. Sometimes, his class may be a bit disorganized, but he truly makes it enjoyable.
Signed up for the class because I was genuinely curious about the course topic: The Psychology of Negotiation. The first day I came in, I was shocked of how funny, kind, caring, and wholesome he was from the first day till the end. He GENUINELY cares about his students and people. Incredibly knowledgable on the topic, and I had fun EVERY day. TAKE!
He makes the class interact with each other and do discussions in class which is so much better than sitting down listening to a Prof reading off slides every single day. Pros - Cares about everyone, Remembers everyone, and makes sure you are comfortable. Cons - 90% of the time he arrives late. Won't know your grade until grades are submitted.
Class involves a lot of participation and discussion with peers. Professor is really nice and caring, he makes sure he knows everyones name. Lot of negotiating. Professor can be a bit disorganized and late at times but he's a really sweet guy and its clear he cares about his students learning and passionate about the topic.
His method of teaching ensured every student got a chance to share their point of view, which fostered engaging and insightful conversations. He cares about his students even outside the classroom and, honestly, is one of the best professors I've met in the program.
This is one of the worst professors at Baruch that will make you realized you wasted your money. He is extremely disorganized. He has zero lesson planning and just makes different groups do presentations every week. Today it is supposed to be our final exam, and he didn't answer the phone, didn't post the exam online, didn't reply any emails.
Professor McKechnie is a knowledgeable and engaging instructor. The textbook is helpful, and lectures involve meaningful discussions rather than busy work. unstuckstudy is a great study tool alongside the course materials.
