If you take him, a bonus will be his incredible smile. Aside from that, he is an intelligent prof who has a lot to offer, especially if you're a soc major. He goes off onto tangents that are liberal and interesting. You should take him!

So inspiring, and the reason I became a Sociology major. Have taken 3 classes with him, and no plan to stop until graduation. If you want interesting, fun, and learning-intensive courses with a relaxed but informative teaching style, then he is #1 4-U!!!

Read some intense stuff, and he make you understand like it's dr. seuss. love him. one of the quality professors to be found at pace.

I took Salerno several years back. He inspired me beyond belief and I still remember him to this day. He is unbelievably intelligent and I find that very sexy. There is no reason to fail this class unless you absolutely do not apply yourself at all. He's the best professor I've ever had.

Awe inspiring. A true intellectual. Passion for the subject he teaches and awesome ability to motivate. I wish he had the freedom to teach without university limits; he seems to have a deeper perspective on social issues that the average mind might not get!!!

One of the best professors at Pace. However, he is far from easy and you must work hard to get an A. Goes on tangents, but you will even learn something from them. If your at all interested in sciology, take him. If not, take him anyway and you will be.

SALERNO FOR PRESIDENT!!!

Absolutely amazing, he's a genius, and took him in summer. Few papers, 2 tests, 1 class presentation, is very easy going and sweet and drops 2 of your lowest grades which is awesome because you don't have that many to begin with, so it's a win-win situation.

Take him in the summer!!! Paper after every movie, but few movies since it's summer, 1 easy class presentation, 2 easy tests (basically vocabulary tests) and a final paper. He really wants you to do well, and you LEARN A LOT, pretty easy and a wonderful personality!!!

Had him for a 6 credit course and enjoyed every minute! Dr. R is great, knows what hes talking about all the time!

Extremely well-educated (he has 3 Master's), and you definitely won't fall asleep in his class. However, he can be very exclusive when it comes to belief systems, which some students find a turn-off. Overall, an excellent and caring teacher.

Taught my LC, "The City in film literature and social theory." Always has some interesting insight on the topic being discussed. Lecture style teaching, a lot of reading...MAKE SURE YOU DO IT. Very knowledgable, and extrememly smart.

He is one of those professors who makes you want to go to class. He made me fall in love with sociology. His class was never boring, topics are always interesting and he'll spice it up with a movie or even a play. The man knows his stuff, and he is a fair grader. I took him twice and will take him again. You will read alot and write decent amounts.

Awesome guy!!! Does his research for classes, interesting social views, involved in the University for its betterment, fair grader, shows a lot of films, has his funny moments, brings in guest speakers, not too much work, but best to do the readings and participate in the discussions.

He's THE professor you want for a sociology class. Discusses everything well, lets everyone sound off on their views of the topic. Excellent and easygoing.

He is cool...but should watch what he and his friends tell us to do about the Pace thing...just teach, leave your politics out...we all don't agree with you and are afraid if we do not

I too thought that the professor was kind of hot and even more so when I learned he drove a motorcycle. You have to pay attention in class and do your work. He is extremely helpful and really seems to care if you pass the course or not. He gives students all the possible oppurtunities to do extra credit and get a good grade.

Had him for an Honors LC and he was amazing! Really got me interested in sociology. He definitely knows his stuff and is really entertaining in class.

He wasnt a bad professor he is definately available when you need him...BUT..he is unclear about what he is looking for at times you have to stay on him to get agood grade and ask alot of questions in his class...he does know alot about sociology

Actually, I know for a fact that Salerno doesn't teach SOC 220. (I'm a Soc major.) He's an excellent teacher and I found the material not only interesting, but awakening!

Amazing teacher, but you have to work to get a good grade. Whatever you do, don't take stuff from the internet. He check this out.

This guy should be teaching in graduate school. Only take him if you are serious about sociology. Lots of work, but interesting and helpful.

Very interesting class. He makes everything easy to understand...the books actually helped...just pay attention and show up and you will do great in the class. 4 quizzes, lowest one dropped and they are open note..plus midterm and final. EASY!

Professor Salerno is extremely helpful and his class is very insightful, I added the class late and he allowed me to catch up quickly. Most of his assignments are related to the overall theme so, take good notes and you`ll be good.

He is a SOC professor so yes there will be a lot of writing/reading and yes he is quite hard, much harder than other professors here. Take him if you love SOC/writing and only this. A lot of dry humor and class discussion is highly encourage. Recommended highly for his Urbanism course as it is his passion. Low amount of tests as he "dislikes" them.

Solid Prof. Cares about students. Fair grader. Learned a lot and opened new pathways for thinking about things.

Good professor but not much for class work. If you read the articles and do great on the quizzes you will be fine. Also be sure to do assigned papers.

He loves to talk, especially about his life but also about the subject. We had quizzes every day after each of the readings that were more like books, but he allows you to use your hand written notes only. Very smart guy, gave 3 papers for the whole year and each had to be at least 5 pages. Definitely recommend this class is you enjoy sociology

Amazing professor. Dr. Salerno's lectures are very entertaining and his discussions really make you think. He assigns a couple readings per week. They're kinda long but interesting. I got assigned 3 5-paged papers. Just pay attention to what he's saying and you'll have plenty to write in the paper.

Salerno is one of the few professors at Pace that actually knows what they're doing. He teaches the entire course curriculum and beyond that. Also, he's partially a savage - which makes class even more enjoyable to be in. Pace needs more professors like him.

If you read what he posts on blackboard before the class you will understand what he is saying. If you need some help writing the essays, he is very helpful. Goes out of his way to make sure you understand every topic and get a good grade.

Salerno is a great professor and you really do learn a lot about the subject. Hes a funny guy and is very wise. Gives a lot of readings & you should definitely read them if you want to actually understand whats going on.

Prof. Salerno is one of the most kind hearted, witty, and intelligent professors at Pace. I took his class as a major requirement and he just wants to be able to speak to all students. He isn't a harsh grader at all but he's very fair!

Consumer Psychology Class. Very easy if you just show up and listen a little. When writing your paper use some new age ideas and talk about communism how it would work and you'll get a good grade honestly.

Professor Salerno is my favorite. The conversations we had were amazing and made me think. Most times it was my self and a few others joining in on his lectures but he always came prepared and ready to work. I enjoyed him greatly. Definitely ready to take again and I recommend him to people who are comfortable thinking abstractly.

He is the best professor I've ever had, so understanding and interesting. He's the reason I majored in Sociology.

Dr. Salerno's classes are really what you make of them. He doesn't have a lot of assignments but does give you a lot of REALLY great reading, including several of his own works. While you could coast by, it's SO worth it to involve yourself in discussions with him. His sociology lectures often blend into psychology and more, and he's brilliant.

Professor Salerno is brilliant! I took SOC thru film as an asynchronous class and it was honestly a dream. He gave great feedback and was very understanding when it came to grading. He is passionate about what he teaches. It is such a fun class because he assigns great films. The papers he assigns are not too bad. 1000/10!!

Great sociology professor who clearly understands the subject he is teaching. Grading criteria is not really specified or used, grading in based on his feel on how well the student understands it.
