A really nice guy and a great professor. I enjoyed his class a lot.

I'm not an English major so this class was had at times but I learned alot.

the class was tough, but he made it very interesting. and he was on jeopardy!

He was a good teacher. A tough grader but will bend over backwards to help.

Advanced Composition was exactly that, and the workload wasn't light. But Dr. Solberg made getting up every morning at 9am worth while, and the man did everything in his power to make sure you were a better writer because of his class. TAKE THIS CLASS!

Nice prof. The courseload is manageable. Make sure to read the assigned readings though!! He gives quizzes. I like the class discussion format. He does lecture sometimes but he makes you think about what you are reading.

Great teacher. Helpful, funny, makes you learn but is not unpleasant about it. I am not a writer, but have learned much about the craft because of him.

gives pop quizzes, do the readings and take notes on books. makes you think alot during tests. knows his material and listens to everything you say in lectures.

One of the best prof. I have had!! He knows his material, listens to your opinions,gets excited about teaching and learning. I wish I had taken him for 101 and 102 because I think that he is an excellent teacher and I would have learned more. A+++

took him for advanced composition. this guy is so excited about teaching and helping his students become writers. it is a beautiful thing. there are students that would like to be favorites but dr. solberg sees everyone as looking toward the same goal.

The man loves what he does, which is a rarity in this day and age. Never before have I had a zen moment in class, but he managed to do it. Great teacher, great friend, and great overall human being. A true diamond in the rough.

You can tell he loves what he does. He treats you like a college student- has high expectations but lets you know exactly what they are. Doesn't ever act like he's better than you even though he has a Doctorate and you don't. I love his class! He's a very nice man and a great teacher.

Dr. Solberg is one of my favorite professors of all time. He loves writing and he will make you a better writer. His workload is moderately heavy but worth it. His textbooks and sources will always be kept in your personal collection (rather than selling back). Would recommend to anyone.

DR. Solberg is one of the BEST prof's ever. I am not big on writing, or hmwk on the first day of class, but if you struggle with writing, especially a ten page research paper, he is the guy. I highly recommend not only taking ENGL 102, but take it with DR.Solberg, you'll get past your procrastination habit.

Amazing Teacher

Easily one of the best professors I have had. Gives honest, clear feedback and is willing to help you and answer questions. Keeps you interested in the material, and treats you as a fellow writer, rather than as a student.

Dr SOlberg is great. He is so willing to help you. You will work for your grade but he makes you be a better writer. I hated the book we were reading but he made it come alive. I highly recommend this class. Note: get a stapler.

Dr. Solberg may be the best professor at this school. If you show an interest, he'll help you develop your writing ability, and he's interesting to talk to.

Literature and Film was is a great class. Dr. Solberg is wasy to get along with. You have novels to read and short stories. You talk about them and have a quiz on them when they are due. Then you watch the movie and talk about it. Midterm and final are what you do in class. Journals-your take on the books you read. It's pretty easy. Do the work!

I LOVE Dr. Solberg;he is the best teacher that I've had here at EUP. I took him for 101 and 102. He makes you want to be a better writer. I had a very hard semester and he was so understanding. Don't ever be afraid to go to him and talk about your assignments.You have work to do, but you feel educated after having him.I'm sad I won't have him again

If you want to take a class that will help you your entire time at college, then take it with this man. He is the best teacher I've ever had in my entire life. He is so passionate about what he does.I wish that there were more teachers like him at EUP

Dr. Solberg is seriously the best teacher EVER!!!! This is the first class that I actually love going too. He pushes you a lot, and believes you can always do better. ALWAYS HAVE YOUR BOOKS WITH YOU!!! he gives a lot of random quizzes. But he is the best teacher ever. I would highly reccommend him to anyone!

Makes writing easy and fun. Very thourough. Picks interesting books for lit. calss, lets you pick whatever topic you want for paper in eng102. I would definetly take him again. Amazing professor!!

I hated English before I took him..TAKE HIM, he is a great professor. The book he uses is VERY interesting. A little tough on grading but you can revise your essays but well WORTH IT. Loves english and that makes class fun.

Great professor! He gives you exactly what he wants on every paper and expects nothing less. Write 5 papers the whole semester and a few homework assignments. When he says look up words you dont know, do it because there are sometimes surprise quizzes on words that he thinks you dont know. Final is just on grammar, very easy.

He's one of Edinboro's finest. He is a fantastic professor who is incredibly passionate about his subject. He has high expectations for his students and he does not let people slide. He'll call you on your bull in your writing (but in a classy way.) He will change the way you look at writing if you let him. He is a very caring professor.

I had him for english 101 too and I liked him both semesters. He is very passionate about english and since this is college, and we all will have to write paper, he is the best professor to learn from. He will make sure you know what/how to write well, I will definitely take him again if the chance arises.

The big project for the year is an essay that you get to pick the topic for. He shows a lot of interest in your work and is willing to help you and go over things as many times as you need. If you have a solid background in any english course you should be perfectly fine. (I got an A, and I didn't take Eng101)

Received an F in his class but that was my own doing. He is a fantastic Professor and is willing to help you. Great 102 teacher helps build the foundations that are needed to continue in college. When I retake the class it will be with him.

Dr. Solberg is an amazing professor. I had him spring 2010, and although I am not generally big on english, I loved his class. He is very passionate and really interested in your ideas. Also, he is very fair when it comes to grading, and his final. Take him for sure!!

Fantastic professor, very knowledgable and willing to help you as long as you are willing to put the effort into your work. He expects a lot from his students and his grading can seem tough, but you are guaranteed to benefit from the class if you put effort in. He's also a really cool and funny guy, very fun to talk to.

Fantastic. His class was always the highlight of my day. He is passionate about the material and that makes the class passionate. He'll help you find sources for papers, and is always ready to listen to your problems/ideas. He expects a lot, but he'll help you do your best.

Possibly one of my favorite teachers/professors not only of my college career, but life. He knows how to reach and inspire his students to take pride in their work. In his class, I wasn't working toward a grade - I was working for my own personal satisfaction to better myself as a writer and thinker.

Seriously, my favorite professor so far. He knows how to teach without killing his students and makes English interesting. The things he teaches to help you with your writing are a little off he wall, but it works. He picked an excellent book to go with his teachings as well. He constructively makes you a better writer.

The best english teacher I've had. I didn't care for the topics he had us write about, but his grading is fair and he gives plenty of time for assignments.

I had him for English 102 and 103 and i must say he is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He tries to keep the class fun and interesting for everyone and still get the lesson across. Some of the proms he gives are challenging but his grading is fair and he gives you every chance to rewrite the papers. Along with plenty of time to write them.

I took Solberg 3 semesters ago and I still think about his class when I write.

I had this guy for a Baseball FYE course and he showed many qualities to what a good teacher needs; passion, intelligence, interest in the subject, and clarity. And he is far from easy, but that makes you a better student and him a better professor in the end.

I had this guy for 1502 and 1503 and he was easily the best English teacher I've ever had, and I'm an English major. I'm a senior now and I still miss having him in class. A lot of time to write, some hilarious prompts. I've never seen a prof, or, now that I think about it, anyone get so excited about the Loch Ness Monster and bigfoot.

Very fun class. Great professor that clearly enjoys what he does. Lots of reading and the journals are pretty easy to write. Overall a fun class and would take it over and over again.

It's amazing to me to read these comments because I see that Prof. Solberg is still just as amazing now as he was when I had him more than 10 years ago. His classes are what a college education was meant to be. You learn so much; you challenge yourself; you find strengths you didn't know you had; you grow because he believes in you. EXCELLENT.

Very passionate guy, his 103 class focuses our writing on very relevant topics such as why we are attending college, what were trying to gain out of this experience (ect). He is very motivating, I would describe him as a positive reinforce-er. He will work with you on your drafts to help you make them the best they can be. Take his classes.

He made sure all material covered was easy for everyone and would make sure the whole class understood the lesson. He is also highly willing to help outside of class time, even on writing projects that were not from his class.

He's an amazing teacher! He has so much passion for writing and works so well with students. He really goes out of his way to make sure everyone understands, and also makes sure he knows everyone's face and name. Also keep the textbook, it can come of use in the future. Amazing clarity, but you will be challenged in a good way.

He is a great professor who is more than willing to help with anything. I learned a lot from this class that will definitely help me in the future. He gives plenty of time to write the two main research papers, and provides helpful feedback. Easy A as long as you go to class and do the assignments. I highly recommend taking him.

Really wants you to do well. You can rewrite essays if you got a poor grade and he gives plenty of time to write your papers... There is a lot of writing involved, but no irritating grammar and punctuation review. He is my favorite Professor! (ask him about Sponge Bob... he knows everything)

Solberg is awesome. His class is intense, he gives a lot of writing assignments, reading is required before pretty much every class, and you lose grade points if you're a few minutes late. He's also helpful, super-excited about english, and creative with his assignments. I might not be getting a great score, but I'd take his class again!

There was a lot of writing involved--5 main papers, 2 short ones, and a few assignments. The topics we covered were very interesting, such as discussions on liberal arts education and grading. A wonderful professor who encourages students to bring papers to him and revise papers to improve and receive a higher grade since writing is rewriting.

Dr. Solberg was like the Dumbledore to my Harry Potter. He is so kind and helpful, plus his classes are interesting. Don't expect to do well if you miss class, but if you email him beforehand when you are sick, he is pretty lenient. I have taken literally every class I can that he teaches, and I would take another if it was offered.

I loved taking him for English 102. He really taught us how to write a good college paper as well as how to cite properly, both MLA and APA, and how to research for your topic. Glad I took him as all of this will help me in the future. He is very helpful if you need it and gives good feedback. Definitely take him if you can!

Dr. Solberg is a lovely human being. He went out of his way to help me pass this past semester. If you need help, don't be afraid to go to him. Just make sure you show up and turn everything in on time (the main papers have a one week grace period). If you can take him, do it every time.

Dr. Solberg is a passionate man that makes class interesting and exciting. He loves thoughtful discussion and is a friendly, respectful professor. Definitely would never put anyone down in class. His class has a nice routine and everything is written out in the syllabus. He is a tough grader when it comes to papers but believes in resubmission!

He was inspirational! He always made the subject matter interesting and you can resubmit any papers/assignments up until the final.

Very good instructor, will work with you to make your essays better. He gives five main essays: there's a due date for the rough draft, and a due date for the final draft. Then you can submit one revision per week for any of the already-completed papers.

Solberg is an amazing professor. Very helpful. Very fun - well in a scholarly way. Most of the work is done for homework and then reviewed during class.

Awesome professor! Gave very descriptive instructions on how to write papers. A lot of reading involved but very easy to understand. Homework consists strictly of writing papers and reading excerpts. Books well used.

Dr. Solberg is the best English Professor I have ever had. He truly wants the students to succeed and is very approachable. He is always willing to help, and if you are unhappy with a grade you've received on a paper, he allows you to re-do it for a higher grade.

I took Dr. Solberg online for a winter class. The class was supposed to be hard because its taking a whole semester and putting it into 5 week. However, he never gave pointless assignments and gave such good feedback. He truly cares about students and their education.

Class seems kind of pointless, along with most of the homework but it's easy. The papers are also pretty easy because he's always open to help you and you'll do revisions and drafts with feedback. He is VERY passionate about English

I took this course in the Winter so we didn't get much time to complete work. H saw that and made things manageable. For most the small assignments, you just get credit for doing them. For the papers, you get to submit a rough draft FIRST in which he basically tells you exactly what to fix. Very passionate and willing to help!

Dr. Solberg is a wonderful professor who truly cares about the subject matter and the students. There were many lively class discussion and lectures. Some of the work seems daunting, but most homework is for participation credit, and any big papers he is willing to look over.

I took Dr. Solberg's English Advanced Composition in 2017. Dr. Solberg was an excellent teacher and I would hands down take any of his english classes again. He was always available, supportive and encouraged creativity. He pushed you to new limits and stretched your imagination. His lesson plans are full of new content and enjoyable in nature.
