I had him for both micro and macro. He is a great teacher. I love economics and feel fortunate to have him instead of some of the other profs. He is down to earth and makes himself availabe to a student who needs extra help. There is no textbook required

He was a good teacher. Does not use a book. Gives practice quizes which are helpful for the test. He doesnt discuss a million topics, instead he focuses on the major points so you understand it.Highly recomended.
An amazing class with an amazing professor. If there is any class I would retake - this is it! Talk about a life changing class, this is it!

Classes are intresting as well as the teacher. He also makes us the fellow students more active by making it a participatory class. Strickland is one of the best teachers I have ever had!!!!!
This teacher is awesome,he teaches the best way possible. explains things clearly, refrences to beer.
very nice and funny guy
Very nice guy. Don't miss class and you'll do fine. He will always help you if you need help.
He is very open-minded, cool, you can talk to him about anything. Complicated class, but easy with his effective teraching method. He uses various social issues as examples. ou can talk to him about anything. One of the very few I still keep in contact.
Great teacher. My easy score is assuming that the person taking his class is going to try. He is one of those teachers that would rather see a student do well than bad; all you have to do is work at it. Starts every class (except right after the election) with "what do you guys want to talk about".
great teacher, very approachable. he makes the difficult subject of economics not be so hard with his different style of teaching. this is one teacher you WON'T fall asleep on because he makes the class so interactive and fun.
good teacher, but the tests are tricky. some questions are easy and then some hard, really hard. he makes you think.
very helpful and funny
"What do you guys want to talk about", that is the way he start class most days. All classes except like most professors he did not want to talk directly after the election. As long as you try hard it is a very fun and easy class. He wants you to do well, if you don't it will not be because of him.
Great teacher! This guy makes economics easy to understand. He doesn't use a textbook. Instead, he has writtin his own little packet that is worlds easier to understand than the textbook. Oh, and this guy is really funny.
Fantastic economics teacher--he actually makes it easy and interesting. I never thought that was possible!
this class sucks. ive been in for a few weeks, but havent learned anything. hes making us answer a bunch of questions before even teaching the material. i didnt take this class because i already knew everything, im taking it because i want it taught to me, but apparently that's not going to happen.
If you aren't interested in being studious and actually trying, don't take him. He is one of the best teachers at santa fe, but some people can't handle him because he isn't a dumb ass and he knows more than economics. Take him if you are intelligent, not because you want an easy ride.
this guy sucks. i had a major personality conflict with him. he thinks all college kids are the same and he tries to act all cool and ends up lookin like a douch bag. plus he assigns a huge paper the first day and thinks its going to change your life. its stupid, take Hooper for mic and mac.
Very good guy. The test is not easy but he will curve your grade. Never have a teacher cool like him.
A great teacher and great guy. He makes going to class interesting and explains things until you understand it. Take him, you'll love him!
He is a great teacher. He explains the material over and over till you understand and knows alot more than you think. He relates back to you and has an overall nice and fun personality. You should definately take his class
Great professor!
stickland is a great economics teacher, econ is hard period. he makes it fun and enjoyable to take, great curve but you could pass with out it, do the papers and show him you are making effort and you will pass
He is a great teacher. His tests can be hard, make sure that you study. However, if you put in the effort he will reward you with a passing grade. He is very interesting and a well educated professor. You will leave his class with knowledge of the economic world. How much is up to you.
Strickland is an intelligent, down-to-earth teacher. Though he sometimes goes over material too quickly, he makes sure everyone understands before the test. He also gives nice curves. If you are not ready to put more effort into this class than the average class, don't take it!!!
One of the best teachers I've every known. He is fun, fair, open-minded, and grades on a curve. I still believe this is one of the most difficult classes one can take at this school but he makes it worth wild. He is human and he is accessible. You just have to do your share by studying.
Strickland is a good prof. Macro is a difficult class in general and requires studying. He is a good teacher, but you must read the material before class to get the most out of lectures. 3 tests make up grade, and 10% participation. Grades on a curve; I didn't ever really study and I got 2 C's so far with the curve. You'll learn a lot, but study!
He is an awesome Teacher! The class is difficult but he is there to be helpful and understand. He goes out of his way to help his students and to make sure everyone gets the best grade that they can possibly get.!!
Man, STRICKLAND IS THE MAN! Got of of class early every day, you can be exemted from his final after taking only 2 exams! You learn a lot and he is super nice! Need to take a hard class like economics.....Take Stickland!!
This guy is awesome. I am taking him currently and I have never had a teacher make such a boring subject interesting. He tells great jokes and makes Economics really simple to understand. His tests are straight to the point and no surprises. He always grades on a curve too! Take him for Economics
Great teacher, very helpful. Tests a little challenging, but grades on a curve.
Take strickland he is the man!
Easy economics class. He talks about politics and stuff for the first 30 min or so of class. Notes are easy to follow and the tests and pretty straight forward. He curves tests and even if your grade isn't exactly an A, he will bump you up. He is a really cool guy. You can miss class too, which is nice!
This guy is a baller. I only hope that i can be as cool as him when i am that age. (but he's not old) (i don't really know how old he is). i WILL take him for macro. he's really smart about a lot of stuff.
Loved him! He is an amazing teacher, take his classes!!!
Great teacher! Nice guy very funny! VERY HELPFULL
He is very funny. Sometimes a little judgemental but grat guy. He likes to see at current events and talk about "what we are up to" for the first 30 minutes. Good teacher and very available
I dropped this course twice. I had bad dreams about taking economics.Mr. Strickland style of teaching was so awesome that I now view the world differently. He was so helpful and supportive. He has even agreed to write me a letter of recommendation. He is a very good person and professor.Take him if you want to learn something. His tests are hard.
I admit, he teaches more about life than economics but that is a good thing. He will open your eyes. For those who said he is a bad teacher are those who didnt study and dropped the class. I admit, its a class where you do some reading and tests are hard but they are curved. Pay attention, ask questions and read your book you will get an A or B.
Prof. Strickland is a wonderful teacher. You can tell he really enjoys the subject of economics and cares about his student's futures. He is extremely clear about everything he teaches and will answer any questions you have. He is really funny and it is interesting to talk to. I would recommend him to anyone!
What an outstanding professor! Very knowledgeable and is passionate. I highly recommend him to anyone. He's pretty funny too.
Good teacker. Really makes you think about the future and he curves big time.Good economics teacher.
Though he may seem tough at first, Strickland is a GREAT professor and really helps students understand material. Tests are hard, but he curves. Talks about interesting non-economics subjects in class. Wants students to succeed in economics, business, and life in general. Will answer/explain any question you may have in class. I highly recommend!
Very good teacher, He knows what he is talking about and he is very fair.
I've taken Strickland for both Micro & Macro, & thoroughly enjoyed both classes. Discusses relevant current events that have to do with economics. He's helpful & explains topics in a easy-to-understand way. Tests are tough, but he curves and they are all straight from lecture & the textbook. Interesting class & great professor; I highly recommend!
Great teacher!! cares a lot about his students!
PROF STRICKLAND IS AWESOME!!! i usually never have anything good to say about professors here at santa fe but believe me strickland is the MAN!!!!
Great teacher... reminds me of Louie Anderson... but go to class to understand the material... his lectures are good... even though economics is boring he puts humor and relates economics to beer which I find pretty funny... his tests are a bit hard at times but he curves... he gives three tests no cumalitive final... also speaks a some Vietnamese.
Strickland is the best professor at SantaFe. He teaches about economics and life. He will help you with anything b/c he wants you to succeed. I am also taking him for macro so that should say something. You do need to study and the best way to do it is with a group. Don't get scared of his syllibus/book, just read it!TAKE HIM b/c he loves to teach.
Strickland makes a subject that is hard and boring pretty interesting. He knows quite a bit and is there to see his students succeed. The class is based on three large test and a few quiz's, the test are tricky while the quizes are easy if are stay on top of reading. He grades on a cruve so just stay on top of the class and you should get an A
Mr. Strickland is a gifted educator. He took a subject with no relevance to my major and made it applicable. I enjoyed going to class, even though it was at 8 a.m. He's very flexible and helpful if a problem arises during the semester, you just need to communicate with him. He gets an A!
Strickland is a great teacher, and from what I've heard, is the best Econ teacher at SFC. Great lectures, and he makes the material pertain to everyday life. 3 Tests, and numerous quizzes throughout the semester. Tests are challenging, quizzes are pretty easy. All around, great guy who truly cares about each one of his students.
I took Mr. Strickland for both Micro and Macro economics. He is extrememly helpful. He wants his students to suceed. I would take him again!
Professor Strickland is amazing! He teaches the topics extremely well, and is more than happy to assist you with the course work outside of class. During the first part of the semester, however, you MUST be on top of things and make sure you know what he is talking about or else you will fall behind sooo much, Overall, amazing teacher/class!
Mr. Strickland is a well prepared teacher who really knows what he's talking about he has premade power points online that are really helpful because you can watch the lessons as often as you need too. your grade is divided into 4th's with three tests and your quiz grade. he tends to curve the tests a lot and overall is a decent teacher.
He's a great teacher!! He's super funny and makes EVERY lecture interesting. He likes to joke around with the students and he tells awesome stories. He's really good at explaining the material so that everyone understands. If people had questions, he answered them well. Take him!!
He's the best proffesor I've ever met! He's just like a Santa Clause :D Really really nice person. Always let students talk something on their minds before class, and then connect it to economics. :) I will keep taking his next class!
He is a very helpfull teacher. He applies economics to everyday life and lets you see it from a point of view that you can understand. I definetly recomend taking him. He will work with you. Even if he comes off as being a little tough : )
Can someone tell me how many test there are for this class? And are his test multiple choice or T/F, or short word problems ? And how was the midterm and the final, was it easy and was it multiple choice? And would u say this class was easier or harder than accounting ? .. Just respond to me in this comment section and i will read it later. Thanks
Great professor. I highly recommend taking this class. Three tests: first 2 are M/C on supply/demand, costs, and elasticities, and third test is a T/F on market structures. Tests are fair. Material is presented decently, but could be a little more clear. Grade is calculated by 75% tests and 25% quizzes. Can drop lowest 3 or so quizzes. Great guy.
Online course. Material is hard, but professor is very helpful.
AWESOME PROFESSOR/PERSON! Took him in micro and will take him in macro. Re-do the quizzes! It really help me studying for the exam. A+ Tip: Watch his videos over and over again till u get it then no need to read the book chap.
Professor Strickland is an amazing teacher! This course is hard material but he makes it easier to understand. I failed the first test and got a B on the second test, thanks to his help. He is exteremly helpful if you go to his office. Make sure you watch the videos he posts. They are better than any other resource for this class.
Best open campus professor I've had so far. Actively participates in discussion forum answering questions super fast. Provides video power points that are good. Uploads short specific youtube vids that are super helpful. You must persevere be persistent, it takes a while for it all to click, but he provides all the resources you need to do well.
Professor Strickland is great! He makes the class easy to understand and adds humor to the course. He try's to help his students do well in his class and is a good all around guy:) LOVE HIM!
I LOVE PROFESSOR STRICKLAND! He loves what he teaches and that is so crucial for teachers. I promise that you will become a much smarter citizen & individual after taking Mr. Strickland. There is honestly nothing bad to say about him. He's extremely helpful. He is easily one of the best teachers I have ever had in my life. TAKE HIM!
First of all if you still can add him for your class ADD HIM NOW! I did micro and macro with him. He loves what he teaches and he knows his stuff + classes were always interesting + u will understand what is going on around the world + no surprises on exams + so understanding when u have real issues going on = Best Prof ever had in life. A+++++
He Is Awesome Hands Down. I Love Him :) 3 exams for the whole semester, all multiple choice, very understanding, && easy to get along with. He is wiling to offer extra help if needed. Just study your notes && complete his pretests he provide && you will pass. I had his class once a week on Mondays && barely went. Just that easy :)
BEST TEACHER EVER! you have to read what he assignes...he will help you whenever you need it! Very clear! Tests are straight from what you read and class discussions!
Hands down, Strickland rocks! Very cool guy, with a sense of humor. I definitely recommend him to anyone. Econ majors or anyone meeting an AA requirement. 3 non cumulative (no final), Fairly easy Power point project, and 8-12 page paper. 10 question quizzes. Much easier than it sounds. Not officially graded.. either pass or fail.
Professor Strickland is wonderful to have as a teacher. He lays everything out the way it needs to be done and keeps things as simple and to the point as possible. Definitely recommend for Financial Management. Gives practice exams which are extremely helpful for studying!
Microeconomics with Professor Strickland was very easy, but I gained very little knowledge from this course. Nothing that I hadn't already known from Macro. If you're looking for an easy course this is the one.
I took the online course and it is the best class I have taken so far. Three exams during the course make up the grade. No homework, no quizzes, no posts. This is the perfect class for working students as long as you are self-motivated and study on your own. Lots of practice exams help with the preparation!
Horrible teacher, horrible class, horrible material. Teaches only Keynesian view of economics. Believes that even with our 16 trillion dollar debt our country should still spend money to get out of recession. teaches 10-30% of test materials and leaves you to figure out the rest. Test are 50% essays that he grades on his opinion of if you got it.
You must read the chapter, do the homework, and ask questions in class. Opens the class with "Whats on your mind?" USE THIS! Ask any and all questions about the lectures, at point in the semester. He will review everything! I'm a B student and I got near 100s on every test. You really have to try to be lazy enough to fail this class.
Took Macro online. You HAVE to watch all the YouTube lectures, read the chapters, do the homework if you want to succeed. Prof. Strickland is incredibly helpful and responds to emails/discussion posts daily. Not an easy A, but he makes a boring subject interesting and wants you to succeed. Grade is based on 3 exams & one 10 pg paper about yourself.
Professor Strickland teaches a class which will guarantee you will get out of it what you put into it. The course I took had two tests and weekly writing Assignments and mini projects, two of which require a video component. I wish I could audit this class without the pressure of a grade. Canvas submission method highly irritating. Mouse537
Mr. Strickland is awesome. I dreaded taking an economics class, but I thoroughly enjoyed his class in the end. The final grade's based off of 3 exams and one 10 page or so paper about yourself. Don't really need the book because the exams are directly from his youtube lectures and the practice HW. I definitely recommend him.
Professor Strickland was fantastic! I walked into the class with no prior knowledge of macroeconomics and have left with a solid fundament of the material. His lectures are interesting, very laid back guy with a good sense of humor! Not the easiest class and you have to study some but his lectures keep you entertained.
Strickland is a good guy. Class is demanding. You will not pass if you don't put in effort. Tests are challenging but manageable if you are prepared. DO NOT get behind in the readings and youtube lectures. Those are key.
He is an excellent and helpful teacher who has no problems with teaching you ways to succeed. Difficult in terms of ambiguity but an absolute delight in the classroom. I highly recommend him. Just remember that when he means he is treating you like an employee, he really is and as the boss he doesn't have to get specific with assignments.
Mr. Strickland is one of the best instructors I have ever had. He is helpful and understanding. The class is not easy, if you slack and do not do the review for midterm and final, you will fail. He lets you know that at the beginning of the course. Everything you need to know is in the syllabus. I learned a lot in this course.
Great professor! Helped students through online discussions. Well done!
Great professor, seemed to genuinely care for the students. Did not like the aspect that the class was heavily based on the fact that you could memorize 200 questions for the midterm/final (you had to score a C or better on them to pass the class). That doesn't constitute what a good manager is but alas passed the class and enjoyed his teaching.
Great professor! super helpful and willing to work with his students to see them learn. Hes not going to give you an A by any means but if you do the work he provides enough material and support to get an A. Well structured.
High expectations and challenging assignments. Lectures and explanations are clear and include real life examples to help connect concepts. Willing to work with students who give concerted effort.
Professor Strickland's class is one I would recommend. He is very easy to communicate with. High expectations, and fair treatment. He loves what he does, and it shows.
The video resources were sometimes better than the PowerPoint, and the practice quizzes are a must. Professor Strickland was super kind and awesome. I would recommend 100%!
This class is totally dependent on yourself. The material is not too complex, as long as you keep up with the schedule and assignments you should pass. The exams are identical to the study guides and questions.
Good professor, but ask for more than what you need to know. Overall he is very easy, but you just need to do extra work that doesn't fit the course. The class consists of 11 different writing assignments and 2 exams. Good luck. =)
Prof Strickland is a great teacher. His videos and powerpoints are easy to follow. He posts lots of practice quizzes with answers online to help you study. Really cares about the students and wants everyone to succeed. If you are struggling, find a study group. I look forward to taking another class with him. He's great!
Overal I like professor Strickland. He is pretty clear when it comes to lectures. He videos all lectures so you can go back and look at them. All test are based of of lectures, videos, and textbook readings. There is only three test in his class, each test covers about 5-6 chapters. The 3 test are the only grades in the class. So studying is a must
One of the best in his field
There were only 3 things that counted for a grade, and those were 3 exams. So if you're not a good test taker, I wouldn't take this class. Lectures were short, relative but very broad. Studying is a must. Do not wait til the last week before test to study. There's plenty of helpful items on canvas. Just wish there were more graded items.
His class is definitely demanding. There are 3 exams and a project. I'm a A-B student and I had to withdraw from his class after the second exam. I studied really hard and still failed them. Barely teaches in class and then expects you to go home watch his 40 min lecture on youtube. I DO NOT recommend this professor!!!!
Honest Report: Professor Strickland is a great professor. His teaching style is unconventional with a more "Do it yourself" setting. Those who study and participate in class succeed, those who don't fail. In class, you learn one clear example and talk geopolitics unrelated, online however are all your assignments. He leaves it up to you to earn it.
if you are willing to study, which you will have to do with any economics class, then he is a great teacher. He cares SO MUCH about his students and class is always helpful. He has weekly quizzes that arent for a grade, just for your own assessment. My favorite teacher at Santa fe so far I wish he taught every class! your grade is based on 3exams.
He is a extraordinary professor, but you have to be on top of your material. You can not just go to class and expect an A you HAVE to watch his VRSQ and do the readings in the books. Class is very entertaining, and gives us real life examples of the economy to make the understanding easier. I Highly recommend him.
GREAT PROFESSOR, TAUGHT ME A LOT
He is defenetively a good professor, I highly recommend him. Make sure you read all material on time and watch the weekly videos posted on the VRSQ. Attendance isn't required.
I have Prof. Strickland for other courses and normally he's an okay professor, but when it comes to this class, he's horrible. Your entire grade for the course is taken from 2 exams and you must pass both in order to pass the class. so if you bomb the first test and ace the second, you will still fail. Skip his class and take someone else instead.
Professor is really great but this class was really challenging for me! The grade does not come easily and you certainly have to work for it. Read a lot, go to lectures, and ask questions. If you need help, don't hesitate to go to office hours. The tests are brutal and you really have to study the material. Strickland is awesome but macro is not.
I really like his style. Grades are EARNED in his class. if you want the grade then you'll have to work for it. attendance isn't mandatory. Exams are curved, but don't rely on that and fail them because some people get good grades on exams. You'll have to read a lot and do Learnsmart practice before class. overall, I recommend him.
I am an A (and slightly B) student and I had a hard time passing this class. Work your butt off, prove to him that you are, give it your all, show up to each class and he will probably pass you. Beweare though... 85% of final grade are five exams and those are hard.
Amazing teacher! I recommend 10/10. I wasn't able to come into class as often as I'd like but he was super helpful by posting ALL class lectures online! His tests are rather tough but he gives students a curve which helps tremendously. don't take this class if you're not ready to put in the work that comes with it, but if you are go for it!
Lecture videos are short and straight to the point. If you're confused message him and he will explain. Lots of practice quizzes to use for studying. McGraw Hill modules used to read the chapters and answer questions. Only graded on McGraw hill completion and Tests. 4 Exams - 30 question multiple choice each. First test was hardest for me.
I took this class online. if you don't understand something he is willing to help, must be good at memorizing and algebra. tests are based on practice quizzes. and use quizlet to study for the outside source of help.
Great Professor who really cares about his students. Class was not HARD but time consuming. Online class required to watch videos of that weeks lectures. Grade based on 3 Exams and a Group Project. He was very accessible via email, and always ready to help. You must put in the time and effort! Would take any class he taught in a heartbeat.
Professor Strickland was one of my favorite professors. I took him for micro economics, I was not looking forward to this course because I thought it was going to be extremely tough. It is a hard class and if you don't study and come to class you will not pass. However Strickland gives you every opportunity for questions and tons of study material.
You definitely have to work for your grade, but he gives you all of the tools that you need to succeed. We had three exams and one class project, with the second exam being the hardest. I took it online, and a typical exam was based on 10 class lectures (that he recorded), 5-10 PDF's, practice quizzes & 10 or so other videos. Lots to study!!
Your entire grade is based on 4 exams. He gives NO extra credit. There is a 5 page paper that he makes you write that doesn't even count for a grade, if you don't do it, he drops you a letter grade. If you do it, your grade remains where it's at. I took this as a hybrid and in class we spent the majority of time talking about politics.
Professor Strickland provides tons of resources students and gives thorough lectures, so if you show up and put in the work you'll do just fine. If you want to really learn about economics, he's a very involved and engaging teacher. If you want an easy credit, this is NOT the class for you! LOTS of studying and homework hours needed to pass.
This is one of the hardest, most time consuming class ive ever taken. His lectures are spent talking about everything BUT economics except for the last ten minutes. He makes you learn everything by yourself (through the textbook) and the only grade you get are the 4 exams we had. 1 long paper that didn't even count for a grade
Mr. Strickland is one of the best teacher's one can encounter at Santa Fe college. Attendance is not mandatory. If you are able to attend his class both days, it will be very beneficial to your grade. There is a choice's paper that MUST be completed or your grade will drop by a LETTER. He is very good about responding to emails.
Hints/Tips: 1. Do all the LearnSmart work in a week 2. Yes, you have to do the Choice paper (and no it is not for a grade, but if you don't do it you drop a whole letter grade. 3. The Project is an EASY A ( don't Stress over it) 4. He calculates how much time spent on the quizzes, not if you got it correct. 5. He posts all lectures online.
I really liked Professor Strickland, but his course was difficult for me. You better be ready to commit yourself to his class, because he does not have time to hear your excuses. His youtube videos are very specific. Watch them all if you want to do well in his class. No one's grades are handed to them, you have to work very hard in his class.
Even online, this professor expects you to have watched his class taught on campus. If you sign up for a campus class one day a week, say Wednesday, he expects you to have watched Monday's class and have some knowledge of the material. He gives opinions 1/2 of each class. Watch ALL classes. Pay close attention to what he says when drawing diagrams
I really do not understand some of the negative comments and poor reviews. Yes this class is time consuming, yes he is tough, but if you follow the outline and do the work, it's not bad. He responds to questions very quickly, and expects you to have done the work more than the night before the exam. There are four exams and those are your grade.
BEST Professor I've ever encountered. He offers SO much help to students outside of the classroom and met with our study group when we struggled. He is very wise, funny and makes class enjoyable. Posts hundreds of helpful videos to canvas and YouTube and the exams aren't that bad as long as you spent time learning the material. Highly suggest.
Whole grade on four exams. Hardest class I have taken, questions did not match the review material.
Waste of my time. Exams are crazy hard and you teach yourself. Lazy professor.
Unless you have a lot of time on your hands or pick up on info quickly, I wouldn't recommend. Took as a hybrid, he didn't teach, his lectures were just based on the questions you asked. Had to read the textbook on my own to study and he expects 9 hours/week at least for out of class. Between work/other classes it was impossible for me, had to drop.
If you can teach yourself, then this class is fine. If not this is probably the worst class possible for you.
Like any class, online or other wise, you have to do the work to get the grade. The grading was off of the four exams. You have to study, watch the videos, and read. Ask questions when you have them. Overall I like taking ECO2023 with Professor Strickland when I take Macro I plan on taking his class.
Dont let the comments on here fool you. You just need to understand how the course works to be able to get an easy A. Don't let all his extra practice online overwhelm you, its simply there if u need it. 1:Read the chapters, 2:do the practice questions, 3:watch the videos he posts online and 4:come to class if u have any questions. You'll be golden
One of the best professors I have had at Santa Fe by far, he is so chill, yes his class is hard if you don't read!!! Attending his classes both days even if you were taking an online class help a lot! Read and understand the material, go to class the next day with questions, and do all the practice quizzes. Its not hard, just read and do quizzes
A terrible professor does not teach at all. He only explains the things that students ask but 99% of learning you must do by yourself. Thinks that his subject is the only one that matters. Gives a ton of stuff to do but none of it counts towards the grade. Asks completely unrelated questions to the subject and your grade is based on exams only.
Awful professor. He would spend over 30 minutes of our class time discussing his political views. He was extremely rude and was no help. The HW was time consuming and he does not help you prepare for the test.
He lays out what his expectations are from day 1. He's very clear about what to expect on tests, no hidden tricks. Do the reading and you'll be fine. He unfortunately has a bunch of students that don't do this and get poor grades & drop, he spends time reflecting on this in class which could be spent more productively but overall great teacher!
Hybrid course. All due dates set in calendar. Most learning was done online. 4 exams make up the grade in the course. Make sure to do the learnsmart assigns(1 per chapter) and quizzes(6) for each chapter. If you do all the assignd work you wont have a problem. Lots of students dropped b/c they didnt do the work in a timely manner. Dont get behind.
He is a great professor but half of the class is answering random questions that students have for him. They don't even need to be related to the class. He is a very nice guy who invests himself into each student if they show the willing to work. Only two tests (midterm and final), eight assignments, one paper. Recommend him!
Had him online, but he still made the material very accessible. Only graded us on 4 tests. Theres a paper thats not for a grade but if you dont wroie it then he drops a letter grade. Easy going guy though, genuinely cares about his students.
Great teacher. Really enjoyed the class. The material is tough so you have to do the homework and study for the exams. His expectations are very clear. But he really wants people to be successful so he provides lots of help. He also responds to emails very quickly.
Professor Strickland is awesome. Don't expect an easy A, but if you follow his instructions, do the reading and practice quizzes, not only will you do well in the class, but you'll learn something you can use in the real world. There is a plethora of quizzes, practice tests, and reading assignment that aren't graded. Your grade is based off 4 exams
Hardest class I have taken. The material does not match the test!! Be cautious he's awful.
Prof. Strickland is THE worst professor I've ever had. He does not teach, instead makes you watch his youtube videos that do not help at all. He often branches off conversations into irrelevant stories for half an hour at a time, and he has no real grading scale. He will decide your grade if you're between two of them based on how HE feels.
I would never take Prof Strickland again. I am a usual A student but struggled in his class because he grades on 4 tests and you must write an irrelevant essay. He does make lectures easy to access but most of the info he could convey in less than half the time but he feels the need to ramble. Also everything he has on his website is on the test.
Professor Strickland is a great guy and teacher. Super caring and went out of his way to help me. Anyone who says otherwise obviously didn't give effort. He's not an easy A but he has taught me a lot. One of my favorite teachers. Newsflash: This is College not all classes are easy A's. An A is extremely possible if you try.
Strickland is an amazing teacher if you truly want to learn about economics. He records all his lectures and posts them online for students to watch if they did not attend class. It is a very demanding class that requires 9-12 hours of studying a week. If you are behind on the readings and practice quizzes, it will be hard to catch up.
I took this class as a freshman in the fall, and it definitely requires effort. Professor Strickland is funny, but his lectures tend to ramble about stories and then he ties them into macro. This class is based off of 4 tests, which means getting behind and lazy is not optional. Tough class, but manageable.
Professor Strickland is an amazing professor, but he will not hand you an A - you have to earn it! The only grades that matter are his Exams, but read and watch everything he tells you, and do the recommended amount of quizzes and you will score well. He teaches valuable life lessons, relates his material to real life, and is very caring. Take him
He is an amazing person, super nice, really likes you if you participate in class. tough grader, you really have to read all of the reading he assigns and know them inside and out because no matter how stupid they sound they will end up on the exam for sure. Exams are the only thing he grades on so make sure you study!!!
Class is hard but you know that from day 1. You have to do the work on a weekly basis and don't fall behind. Grade is based on 4 exams. Lots of videos to help. He also records and posts the class lectures. Super responsive to email, seems to be available 24/7. Wants the students to succeed, but he won't hand it to you. Good sense of humor.
Strickland is a class act, the best professor I've taken at SF. He genuinely cares for his students, his lectures are fantastic, and there is plenty of material available to succeed in the class. Just 4 exams, so if you blow one, you're done. However, if you make the effort he suggests at the beginning (9-12h/week), have no doubt that you'll ace it
great guy
Very kind professor, takes an interest in your by making your write a paper. 5 tests, each worth 20%, 85+ is considered an A. Do the practice quizes on connnect, for three test the questions are basically the same, do them 5 times minimum, seriously DO THEM and you will do well. Attend class, they are fun. Very good teacher, 10/10 would take again
Professor Strickland is an economics expert. He is very passionate and knowledgeable about this course. This was by far one of the most rigorous classes I've ever taken but with such a great professor I was able to pass. Grade is based off of 5 exams which could be good or bad. He is very accessible outside of class and very helpful. TAKE HIM!
For an online class he was very accessible. He gave classes through Zoom and they were mostly to answer questions and clear the material. He assigned readings and videos to watch but they were both on the same topic so it was fairly fast to go over. You are allowed to take tests twice and practice quizzes multiple times. Take him!
Professor Strickland is a cool dude. Definitely talked about a bunch of stuff that isn't eco and if you are struggling with something definitely be sure to ask in class.
Professor Strickland is a really nice guy. His zoom lectures are mostly to answer questions and make things clear, you'll do the learning by reading the assigned chapters. The grade was determined on 4 tests over the semester, primarily multiple choice. The final and 4th test was an essay question. He cares and he wants you to do well. Take him!
Professor Strickland is seriously good guy. I lost a lot of income from Covid and he made sure I had a textbook no questions asked. Definitely goes off on tangents in lectures, but I enjoyed them and even encouraged them on zoom. If you need any help, he is always available. Grade is 4 tests, but he makes clear whats on them and you get 2 trys.
This class isn't easy, but Prof is caring and wants you to succeed. Be honest in your struggles, communicate, and put in effort. Class is graded on 4 exams, nothing else. He puts very specific exam reviews online and he dumbs everything down so even a dummy like me can pass. Passionate Prof which always makes things better. He wants you to pass.
I have this class once a week for zoom, and he's an amazing professor. Your grade will only come from 3 exams and one paper. It's not easy, but his lectures help you out. It's important to take notes, keep up with practice quizzes, and read a textbook. He also has a schedule that helped me a lot to keep up with the class. I definitely recommend it.
Pretty great Professor. Key to passing his class is doing learnsmarts and showing up for the one or two class times he has. Pretty easy to ask questions as he leaves a lot of time in class open for questions. His dialogue is pretty funny but gets his point across.
Professor Strickland is great at providing feedback on any question you may have either school related or not. He truly wants you to understand the concepts not just regurgitate information on the exams. While your grade is based entirely off (3) exams, if you study and do the practice quizzes (unlimited attempts) and ask questions you will pass.
Professor Strickland is an excellent teacher. Your grade will essentially come from 2 exams and a non-cumulative final exam. Because nothing else is graded in this class, it is very easy to neglect. If you show up to his lectures, do his practice quizzes, and ask questions, you will have no excuse for not passing.
I think Prof. Strickland was great. Great dialogue during lectures and very respectful and understanding. The grade was derivative from three exams and two papers, all of which were very easy as long as you listened to the lectures and used the online resources. You will get an easy A in this class as long as you're actively participating.
Absolutely the best teacher I've ever had. I had him for the spring semester. He was approachable, friendly and funny. I could reach him with questions whenever I needed and he was always quick to get back to me with very thorough answers. He is one of those teachers that genuinely wants to help his students be successful. ONE OF A KIND!
Professor Strickland is one of the most interesting and hilarious professors I've had. Truly makes you enjoy learning again. Be sure to stay on track and reach out with any questions you may have early on and you will certainly pass this course. Cannot recommend him enough! He will be retiring next semester so I wouldn't miss this opportunity.
Good Professor. It could be a difficult class. You will need to put a lot of effort if you want a good grade. It is only three exams in the semester, and the first two allows you to do a second attempt. I would have prefer to take this class at least with zoom sessions.
