I'm just taking her, but I've realized that she's a very bad teacher. She just read from the book.I'm good at math, but there are peolpe in my class that are just suffering
i also agree she is not a very good teacher because she just reads from the book.
She is a fine teacher...I recieved a "D" previously in this course with another instructor....with her, I earned an "A". It is just a matter of following along with her and being disciplined enough to do your work.
I think she was excellent. She does read from the book and if it is a good text book then there is no problem. if you do the homework and are careful I think a student will do fine. I like her.
She's a great teacher and she's very helpful.Of course, you're not going to pass if you don't come to class or don't do homework and study! She offers lots of help for those who bother to ask for it and all problems on the tests come straight from homework
All in all, she was a pretty good teacher.
A very caring teacher. Wants her class to understand and will go over it until they do. Would take again.
Yes, She Reads and Teaches From the Book, but they are supposed too. This way students can refer to the book later on. Pay attention and show up for all classes, do all homework and you'll pass with no problems.
She's a great teacher though she is a little stiff. If you need help, she goes out of her way for you. Just do the homework in her class and you'll pass. The tests are so simple too. I'm going out of my way just to take her again for all my math classes.
okay... this teacher is very nice... but no she sucks... it seems like she can not teach, my classmates taught the class...she reads off the book and she can bearly speaks english... if you want an "A"... good luck...
Very straightforward teacher, down to business. She cares and wants you to do well. Can be hard to follow, sometimes. SLACKERS BEWARE!!!
Right out of the book. Boring. Boring Boring. I received an A. I get all A's though. You move a a quick pace and you have to study. She doesnt speak good english. Take someone else if possible but she is a ok teacher.
8 WEEK COURSE WAS VERY FAST PACED BUT SHE IS SUCH A SWEET LADY!! SHE HELPS YOU UNDERSTAND THE BOOK FOR WHEN YOU DO HOMEWOR AT HOME AND IS VERY HELPFUL WHEN YOU ASK FOR IT! I AM CURRENTLY TAKING THE CLASS AND DOING QUITE WELL!
I feared this class, but I had her for MAC 1106 and I got an A in that one.She make statistics bearble to say the least and she will help you at all cost so you can understand.Do the work assigned and ask questions.Great teacher!
She's an extremely helpful teacher. She teaches so everyone understands the material. She doesn't assigns homework every night, but it's not many problems at all. Overall she's a good teacher
Easy course with attendance. Tests are exact format as practice tests and quizes are off of the homework. She takes worst test score and throws it away. If you do not get an A in this class it is because you were not in class!
Absolutely the BEST math teacher I have ever had! She is easy to follow, and if you dont understand she goes out of her way to help. If you attend class and do your homework, an A is possible even for the worst of math students!
This is the only teacher I have ever had problems with. I am an A student and her class is the only class I got a C in because I couldn't understand her and she would always mess up when she was doing the problems. Unless you know Pakastanian language, do not take her!!!!!
She was a very clear Instructor. She has an accent but it in no way impedes her skills as a Math Instructor. And she trys to make sure everyone understands the concepts before she continues on to the next section.
I liked her so much, that I am taking her again for STA2023. Very cut-and-dry teaching method. Thick accent, but not hard to understand. I loved listening to her talk! Ditto below comments about quizzes and tests. If you show up and do homework, EASY A!!!
i think she is a great teacher. but beware she gives a lot of homework!
Very easu class. A little more homework than most. Easy 'A'.
Doesn't speak English and beats around the bush to answer questions. F(X) is etch of etch
She is a wonderful teacher! She goes over things as many times as you need her to and she doesn't make you feel stupid.
An excellent instructor - as stated earlier, her accent in no way impedes her ability to teach mathematics; her tests are not too difficult because they come straight from the homework problems. Just practice the assigned homework and pay attention in class and you'll get an "A".
Gives a lot of homework. If you are not fast pace stay away. I did not learn anything even though I did all of my homework. She is a nice person but her teaching methods are annoying and she goes way to fast. If you are not good in math find another instructor.
Very sweet and excellent teacher! Dedicated to helping you understand and learn. Does give homework every night, but as long as you pay attention in class, it is not hard. Some tests were open book and/or open notes. Accent does not impair teaching ability at all.
This teacher is so good I'm taking her again for College Algebra. I'm not that good at math and I made a B in her intermediate algebra class. Very nice and will repeat things as many times as you need.
VERY UNDERSTANDING AND HELPFUL. TAKES TIME TO MAKE SURE THE PROBLEMS ARE EASY TO UNDERSTAND. GETS STRAIGHT TO THE POINT. GREAT PROFESSOR!!!!

She gives open note and open book tests but it is still hard. A lot of people were failing the class. Pay attention in class and don't skip at all. If you do then you miss a bunch of info! She admits that she is NEVER wrong. Have fun.

if your math retarded, pass on her. if you are good in math, then you shouldnt even be reading this.
Don't take from this professor. She'd rather yell at the students then help and when you fail a test she simply yells some more. Books and materials are pretty much USELESS and she won't do any individual student work without an appointment.
Prof V is outstanding! The course is relatively easy...but she does a good job explaining the harder elements. She is also willing to help when needed. Doesn't tolerate rudeness (talking during class, obnoxious behavior, etc) - so don't bring it to class. :)Will also allow you to makeup tests and quizes. I would love to take her again!
Ms V. is the best math teacher at FCCJ. Always willing to help in anyway she can. Very clear; gives a practice test before each exam. Offers extra credit. She is great if your a horrible math student. She thoroughly prepared me for College Algebra.
Ms. Vafabakhsh is (hands down) the best math instructor I've ever met. She's one of the rare instructors that genuinely cares whether or not her students pass or fail the course. Even if you're failing in the middle of the term, she gives you plenty of opportunity to bring up your grade and pass the course.Don't miss any of them and you'll be fine.
Professor V is a very good math teacher. ALthough it is hard to understand her sometimes, she explains things pretty thoroughly. I would not suggest taking her if you are math illiterate but otherwise I would suggest her hands-down. She really does care about the success of her students. Just don't try to be a class clown and you'll be fine.
This professor cares about student success, which their aren't many instructors that care about their students. I recommend her any day.Although her accent is strong , she is clear about the subject and to the point. She's available most of the times so take advantage of that! Also, she is patient and is funny. Easy A or B just follow directions.
She speaks poor english but was nice, almost too nice. All she dose all class is ask if anyone has any questions. She needs to move on and continue teaching the class. If one person is lost they need to come in for help on thier own time.
She is nice, easy and is always willing to help you. She goes really slow though.
She is a great teacher and although she does have an accent she is very easy to understand. She is patient and will assist before or after class. Very smart lady!
SHE GOES WAY TOO FAST FOR SUCH A COMPLEX SUBJECT. HER ACCENT IS ALSO VERY STRONG. THERE HAS GOT TO BE SOMEONE BETTER....GOOD LUCK!
WARNING DO MOT TAKE THIS TEACHER....NOT CLEAR...IS A NICE LADY, BUT SHE EXPECTS YOU TO KNOW ALGEBRA, NOT TEACH IT......DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
Nice Lady but her teaching is confusing...if your not a math person I would try and find someone else before takin her...also BEWARE of her open book/note tests she makes stuff up outta thin air...don't recommend
She was a great teacher....I would recommend her to anybody. She gave you a lot of chances to bring up poor tests scores. Online quizes can be taken 3 times and our whole class did poorly on one chapter and she let us retake the quiz again.I would take her agin. Come to class take notes and you'll do great....
NOOOOOO!!! If you need a helpful math teacher do not take her. She expects you to already know the material and goes way to fast. Also if I heard her say "ask your neighbor" one more time I was going to scream.I pay you to teach not my neighbor. Happy hunting.
Shes not that bad of a teacher! serously! she wont move on unless everyone in the class knows what to do. And is very patient with you. moves slowly! and overall easy, 3 out of the 5 test were open book and open note. I hate math and failed the first 2 test and still passed with a B. IF you need a teacher I recomend her over the others!
Professor V. has to be one of the best mathematics teachers that I have ever had. She goes out of her way to make sure that the students understand the material and makes herself available at any time for further clarification. She will not move on to the next topic until everyone understands the current topic.
Mrs. V is a great teacher. She wants everyone in her class to do their best. This is my 2nd class with Mrs. V, I previously took the Elem. Algebra last term and I got an A. It was the first time I learned Algebra. I studied alot and did the required HW. You can do good in this class if you try. I received an A in Inter. Algebra. Slackers stay home!
I thought Ms. V was excellent. She wants everyone to get a decent grade and does all she can to help students achieve good grades. If you do your homework and go to class, you cannot fail.
I was really dreading this class but Ms.V wants u to understand the material & wont move on unless everyone understands the problems. DO all the practice tests she posts & a majority of the tests are similar to those problems. Highly Recommend her!
Teacher is a good teacher, and is worth taking on all levels of mathmatical learning.
Very hard. definately be prepared! tests are the majority of your grade and there aren't many tests and she doesn't grade homework to even see if you're doing anything correctly.
Highly recommend this professor--she sincerely cares about the success of her students. I wanted to take her for the next semester but she doesn't teach intermediate algebra.
She is a stickler on attendance. Be prepared to work, but she is a great teacher and always available to help. Would take her again.
do not take has her pets will fail the rest. she will make you feel stupid if you ask questions. she is very unhelpful
Prof. V. is a great teacher in my opinion. She does have a accent but after the first couple of classes it is very easy to understand. She is always offering help to make sure everyone passes the class. There is a lot of homework but you need to do it to understand statistics.
she is so sweet and so great! at first i thought she was a little rough but through out the class i noticed that she really cared about the students and if the understood. she even held back a chapter just because there were a lot of questions (i think my class mates were just messing with her though)
This teacher is helpful and is available during her office hours. You have to work very hard to get a good grade on her class. There is a lot of homework tests are pretty difficult and she teaches in a fast pace. reccomended for the ones who have enough time to devote it to this class.
Do not take her night classes. Don't pick her two hour long classes and you'll be fine. She has a really bad accent, which at times is really funny but she's a really helpful teacher. The test are only like 20 questions and are really easy!!! No homework! 3 chances to take online quizzes. Get to miss four classes. Pick her and a daytime class :)
she is nice but isnt very easy to understand
Ms V, is an ok teacher. She is sometimes difficult to understand. She will weed out the good from the not so good. She is a numbers person and so she will not understand that you don't know what she is talking about. She is consistent when asking you to come to her office for help. If you so you have to be direct in what you need help with.
I loved being in her class. It's sometimes a little hard to understand her because she has an accent, but it's not that bad.I liked the way she teaches. She gives you every opportunity to make sure you understand what she is saying. As long as you do your homework (even though she doesn't check it) and the practice test, it's easy to pass her class.
She is a wonderful teacher! She is so helpful and as long as you are willing to work she is willing to help! Her accent is not bad at all and she is very easy to follow while she is teaching! It's not an easy class but you will learn so much! Take HER!
Very pleasant teacher, I have never met a professor that was so polite and professional. None of the tests are multiple choice; some require long and detailed answers that are written on your own paper. Great teacher, I would take her again.
I found the subject matter fairly boring, but she is a very nice teacher. She teaches straight from the book and is very easy to follow along with. Come to class and do your homework and you should do fine.
Sweet, polite lady, but hard teacher. Boring, long class if you take in 12 weeks. Won't let you leave after test, but starts new chapter. Lots of homework. Hard tests. Class avg. was a 65 before I withdrew. I re-took class with another prof. and made an A. If majoring in math, take her. She welcomes students to come to her office for help.
Math has never been my subject, however this teacher seemed to make it a little easier to comprehend than others i've had in the past. She is willing to answer all questions students have, and is also willing to help you after class. I found her a pleasure to take...she's a sweet lady.
Prof. V was a great teacher as long as you do the assignments and turn them in on time. If you don't do well understanding accents, you might not want to take her. Her accent isn't THAT bad, but it's a challenging class to begin with-if you don't like or understand algebra to begin with- no reason to add accent interpretation to your class load.
this teacher wants her students to get good grades AND to understand the material. if you dont get a good grade it is not because of the teacher. she gives you every opportunity, tons of tools, extra credit. she is very explicit and patient.
Really good teacher, accents not as bad as some say, my math lab really helped, easy tests,20-30 problems, willing to help anyone.Would take her again.
There were 12 students in my class and only 3 or 4 of us passed. 1 made an A. She is very hard and has accent.
It's funny how many people say they can't understand her....She speaks better than some people who have lived here their whole lives!!She is an EXCELLENT teacher..she really cares about her students!! You will pass this class if you put forth the effort. She is always around for her office hours! If you are unclear on something...go to her office!
i would recommend this teacher to anyone. I absolutely loved her class. She was extremely helpful. I had a 98% in her class . She is the greatest professor ever.
Good professor. She will keep you in class until the very last minute, no getting out early. You have to do the homework. If you study for the tests you should do decent. I would take her again.
Mrs. V is an amazing math teacher! I would recommend her to anyone...especially if you sruggle with math!!
The book is not required for her because everything is online... my mathlab.com. She is a very good teacher and cares about what she does. She works with you when you need extra help. If you need an extra class and you do not know what to take... take this class, you use alot of the stuff in everyday life. Good Choice!
i never caught onto algebra while i was in high school. but im 29 now and had her and im actually understanding algebra now. I DEFINATELY RECOMMEND HER TO ANYONE WHO DOESNT UNDERSTAND ALGEBRA. SHE IS A GREAT TEACHER AND IS FUNNY AS WELL.
AWESOME TEACHER! I <3 her accent! I would reccomend her to any1! I actually understand coordinate planes. You cannot possibly comprehend how tremendous that is for me! TAKE HER! SHE ROX!
Granted she could work on her presentation skills a little more (used powerpoint to do the teaching) but she cares about you grade and knows the material. Im not a fan of Mathzone though. The homework didnt coincide with the lecture.
Ms. V is the absolute best!! She explains every possible detail and goes over everything multiple times, and is constantly asking if everyone understands or has questions. I couldn't have passed algebra without Ms. V!!!
I love her, she is an amazing teacher. She makes sure everyone understands the material. Her office is always open if anyone needs help. She wants to help anyone the best she can to insure they pass the class.
Good teacher. NEVER MISS CLASS!! I ended up failing because of it. You don't need a text book, just Math Zone which isn't expensive. Take extremely detailed notes, go to class, and get the right calculator and you'll do fine.
She was a wonderful teacher. I took for for elementry algebra as well as intermediate algebra. I'm taking her again in the fall for college algebra. I really enjoy going to this class. Anything that I struggle with, she will take the time to help you get through it and understand it. She will even work with your schedule as best as possible.
The teacher is very helpful in fact almost annoyingly so, but she will always accept questions and teaches well.
I liked this teacher a lot. She does have an accent but she is understandable. She is very light hearted, easy going, and kinda funny. I am taking her next semester for statistics. I don't do well in math but she explained things well and I made very good grades on the tests.
Overall shes a good teacher. You don't need a book, only MyMahLab which is online and cheap. She takes her time to explain if you ask her questions. NEVER miss a class you will fall behind. Do all your homework and get the right calculator. The key to this professor is to ASK. If you don't, she moves on very quickly.
Professor Vafabakhsh is a great professor. She is very interested in her students success. She does want students to ask her questions if they do not understand. What professor gives you a 100% (test grade) for at least doing all the homework and having a 75% average? Not an easy A but I would recommend to anyone.
OMG!This class is horrible. One or two students that don't understand disrupt the whole class. She answers every little question and repeats the same things for 1 student and keeps the rest from moving forward. Maybe a little too helpful. Some students need individual help. Don't make the rest suffer.
shes a wonderful teacher! she is so helpful and nice. she will explain the problem until you understand, if need be. i never understood math before this little lady :)
She is a great teacher. I am not found of math but she made it easy and simple. Do the homework repeat do the homework online and study the question from the book and particapte and in class and you should pass, great teacher
Very good professor; although she keeps you in class for the full time allotment. Statistics class was somewhat difficult with a ton of homework using MathLab, but she did a very good job explaining everything. I recommend her but if you're one who likes to get out of class early, best to avoid her.
Decent professor. Requires alot of homework. but it really prepares you for her exams. Not an easy A. but simple enough. I'm not a math person. but i managed a B in elem stat
Spends way too much time helping students that clearly need tutoring and dont belong in that class. It ended up getting the whole class behind!Although nice lady it was very aggrevating to sit through class. Never lets you out of class early.
Really good Professor. Nothings ever easy.
If you are a math person take her! She always offers to help. I am not a math person and could not understand her teaching half the time. It was easy when I studied but the tests would throw me. Overall the class to me was horrible.
Graphing calculators are not allowed on tests, but formula sheets are permitted. Tests, quizzes, and homework comprise your grade. Non-attendance cannot exceed four days. Ask questions if you have any, because she tends to get confusing when she's teaching. She has a Persian accent, but I had no issues comprehending her.
Overall good experience. She's hard but fair. If you do the homework and study, you will pass.
She could be tough. However, she does it to prepare you for the next math class. Good teacher, as long as you don't slack. You will do fine!
Sweet lady. All of the hw is online, kind of sucks. Lectures on all material before the tests. Tests are once every month or so. Grade consists of online quizzes, homework, and test grades. Prob attendance too. Good, helpful class to take if math isn't your best subject, imo.
She's clear, very helpful, and encourages her students to ask questions. She reviews for tests and offers practice tests. If you want to get A's in her classes, do all the hw, take her practice tests over and over, and you'll do great; there are no surprises. I've also taken her for Algebra (A's), and will likely take her for more. She's great!
This professor presented the information with clarity and solicited feedback. I was impressed with her ability to make difficult concepts easy to understand. I would strongly recommend this professor to any student who has struggled with Math concepts and needs exceptional support with Math Statistics concepts.
She is ok. Just teaches the whole time in class and really doesnt explain anything. I failed the class and will take another teacher. She is not very responsive to emails either.
She is really about helping out her students. Math definitely not my favorite or strong subject but she clarifies the material to where you can get math. Mymathlab is extremely helpful, she usually sets up her tests like the sample tests she puts up so doing those are extremely helpful. GREAT PROFESSOR!!!! highly recommend
She is not very nice. Does not explain anything very well. You have been warned. Take another professor she is very dull
Not helpful, not clear, hard subject to begin with. All work is online and very little in class other then her talking and some tests.
Very helpful. She will not move on unless everyone understands. As long as you speak up when you're having a problem, you will do well.
i took college algebra with her, skeptical because i'm the worst at Math (who isnt) and i had doubts i would fail my grade was a B...it was unbelieveable. she isnt easy, you really have to ask questions ASK THEM! she is SO helpful and loves answering questions. i really enjoyed her class and learning in there. TAKE HER IF YOU'RE LIKE ME!
You really have to attend her class to pass. Lots and Lots of online homework, then lots more practices, and finally a pen & paper test and you must show your work. On the Plus side, she will not move on until everyone in class understands it. I would pick it up right away and then get bored waiting on a few to understand the basics. She will help.
Not clear. Cannot understand what she is saying all the time. extreamly boring. repeats her self way to much.
She gives good notes that explain everything you need for the online work, and she's fun to listen to (amazing voice and accent). The subject itself is rather easy on its own, though, so I can mostly just sit with my laptop in class while half-taking notes. You're allowed to use a formula sheet on tests, which I know helps those that need them.
Professor V. is an amazing professor. She truly cares about her students' success, as long as they show that they care about their own success! Those who say that she isn't helpful, is mean, or that she is "hard to understand" during class, obviously do NOT know what they are talking about. As long as you try hard, you're in good hands with her. (=
This professor was very fair. If you keep up with your homework, then you should be okay. She gives study guides for the tests and you can use a formula sheet that she will approve. I didn't do that great on her tests and quizzes, but I did all the homework and got a B in the class. Hard class, but great professor.
Honestly, it was a good class. I'm not the best at math, but I ended up with an A. She is very helpful. At first she said she wouldn't give extra credit, but she gave my class 2 assignments for extra credit. Also she lets you use formula sheets, which she approves ahead of time. Ask questions if you get confused!
She caan be rude and condescending. Her tone can be demeaning while askin questions and trying to understand whatever she is trying to teach that day. Overall, course content is not very difficult if you take time and practice.
Not my fav class because I just don't like math. But she is very nice and she wants you to ask questions if you have any. Her top priority are her students and she wants you to pass. She does talk the entire class so it can be a little boring at times, but she gives notes on every chapter so you wont have to worry about having to teaching yourself
You will have to work hard. A's are not given but like most things in life things that are worth it are not easy. She has office hours and will try to help you understand the material if you are having a hard time.
this is was my second time secthis proffesor and I have signed up for her statistics e fall. I think she is best math teacher I have ever come across she assigns plenty of HW online but that is for your benefit bc most of the test questions come from the HW and Quizes assigned. She is very clear and always concerned about your grade.
I enjoyed this class. This professor give you the tools and info you need to succeed in her class, BUT you have to make the effort.Show up to class and do your test reviews and you are bound to do well in this class.
before having her class i assumed women wasnt good math teachers. to my surprise she was in fact the very best math professor i have ever had. she will literally keep teaching until everyone are all out of "?". overall she's professional and a assest to FSCJ. I COULD RAVE ABOUT HER CONTINUOUSLY.If math isnt your best subject she's the one to pick
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! She is rude and doesn't care if you fail. If you are not good at math and want to ask questions without being yelled at, do not take her!
lol the person who said that shes doesn't care probably is just bias, but anyways she always asked our class if there's any questions and tried to give you every opportunity to get a better grade. She's pretty fair with teaching and grading, but because it's math you HAVE to put in the effort or you will fail. I thought she was a good teacher.
Mrs. Vafabakhsh (call her vafabak) was really helpful though she did get frustrated with this one girl who didn't understand anything she was teaching even though the girl tried. Come to class and do your homework after every session it really helps. She likes answering questions and we were able to use formula sheets on all tests (5 including final). She likes to keep her students the entire time, don't take her in the evening. I was really bad at math and she really helped me to feel better.
no book, only a hybrid class. the online instruction is different from her class instruction. a lot of online homework and five quiz online that count in the grade. test in class are different from online test. it was hard to follow with the different teaching method and the tutors don't know the subject to assist and the instructor didn't have time
The grade you receive in this class is the grade you earned. If you apply yourself and do all the work, you will be satisfied with the outcome. There is a reason why this professor gives so much homework. She wants to make sure you are keeping up with your studies at home. Do not miss class, because there is a lot of material covered each class.
Wonderful teacher! Always makes sure her students understand lectures. Homework, quizzes and one test online. Book is very important. Always come to class! Can use formula sheet on her tests and offers pretest also online. Kinda has an accent but she goes over everything in detail and write out every single thing! Awesome teacher.
Took vafabakhsh Oct of 2014, can come across very rude and could care less if you pass. Is all math XL with the exception of the test which are on paper and although she says she generates the questions from the online practice tests the tests In person are much more difficult (trickier). If you can't teach yourself self PLEASE! don't take her.
I started out with a different professor, who had to leave after 2 months. She took over the class, and my grade improved! She explains everything very well, although the lectures are kind of long. Yes, she has an accent, but really is not that difficult to understand. I'm taking her again for Statistics, and definitely looking forward to it.
Any college math class is tough because its so fast paced. Professor V was as clear as she could be at the pace she had to go but she always has office hours available if you need help. Little bit of an accent but its not a problem.
Easy class as long as you pay attention and do the homework. On test she will allow you to make a formula and she will allow you to use it on your test. Homework is all online and quizzes are online but the test are in class on paper. If you have an A at the end of the semester she does not make you take the exam.
She's a good professor if you really struggle with mathematics. She's hard to understand sometimes, but if you ask her for help, she's there. Four tests and final is optional. A TON of online homework, practices, and quizzes. She cares about her students and wants to help. I would not take her again, however, because she is overwhelming at times.
I really enjoyed this teacher. She is a straightforward and no BS teacher. She tells you what she expects and only grades you on what she teaches. She is always available if you need extra help. Tests were easier than homework and quizzes. She also allows a formula sheet on test. Best of all, NO GROUPWORK.
Once you get past her accent you'll be fine. She is a wonderful teacher and she makes sure to break down every single problem and a good steady pace. She always waits for any questions after each problem she goes through. Very easy grader and the test are exactly the same as what you do in class
Love this prof. Paves the class very well and makes sure you get it. If you practice practice practice, no doubt you will pass. She tells you how to pass. Simply practice. She's always available and emails back extremely fast. Shes magical. I literally understand everything she says. Math is also my WORST subject. I would def take her again.
She might be a great person but she's not a very good teacher. I passed but i thought myself on MathXL. I wouldn't take her again or recommend anyone. Although I got a passing grade of a B, it is a self-teaching class.
Good teacher. Kind. Very clear grading criteria and does not deviate from the syllabus. At the end of the course you are usually given options to improve your grade. There is extra credit, but not a lot. However, it's worth doing! Doing the homework is a must, as it makes up at least 1/5 of your grade. Pay attention and you will earn a good grade.
Not the most considerate professor . The extra credit she offers gives little to no help. Not the best professor either.
I took this class online and highly recommend taking the class in person. Math comes very easy for me but I struggled to maintain an A in the class. She does not have instructional videos so you are literally learning out of the textbook. The homework and quizzes take forever so don't wait last minute.
This professor is there to just remind you that you have a proctored test and that's all. If you ask for help she tells you to go to tutor and study. I am very good at math but this class is something else. No help what so ever! My friend who finished this class (not online) and got A had no idea what my class is about. She never seen any of that.
She is a very excellent teacher especially if mathematics isn't your strong suit. She always begs everyone to ask questions if they do not understand. Expect MathXL homework assignments & quizzes. There are a total of four exams throughout the course. Make sure you are in class everyday (attendance points). I would definitely recommend her!
Professor Vafabakhsh was the best math professor I've had so far. I was really nervous about the class since math isn't my strongest subject, but she was always there for her students. She does assign work online and sometimes it can be alot, but it helps. I'm taking her again for another math class, and would recommend her to any student.
Offers little to no extra credit, gives an overwhelming amount of HW, and does not include any instructional videos or tutorials.. I mean how hard is it to attach links to a folder based on chapter and section. I am an A-B student but barely passed with a C. Stay away from this class, she makes you purchase the Math XL. Expensive/poorly structured.
One of the worst professors I have ever dealt with. Like someone else said she doesn't do anything except tell you when you have a test. I didn't have an expensive calculator which made things harder, but she did not even recommend using statcrunch, which I found out about too late from someone else (would've really helped). Stay away from this one
I would not take this teacher at all, she do not help you with your work. She gives out a lot of homework and expect you to have it all turn in on time, she will not respond to on time she will respond in 72 hours. If you looking for a teacher that will help you and make sure you under the work this is not the teacher to take.
BEST MATH PROFESSOR EVER!!! I hate math and I got a 100% in this class. She works through every problem and she will go a bit slower to make sure everyone understands. She is also easy to get a hold of for help outside of class. As long as you keep up with the online homework.
I was scared to take trig. With this professor, it made it much easier than I thought. She is very good at explaining and teaching. Take good notes in class and you should be able to do the homework well. If you are having trouble, she loves to answer any question you have and go over it step by step. She wants you to pass. Really good teacher.
Wouldn't recommend her. Everything was made harder than it had to be and expected everyone to just be on the same page immediately. Pretty heavy accent and tests make up majority of your grade.
Professor Vafabakhsh was great for Stats. Like any math class, it's all in the work you do. If you study, you'll get it. If not, you won't. She works with you as long as you communicate and the work load isn't exhaustive by any means and her setup is helpful. There's weekly sections to practice, then a Ch. quiz. There's 2 Exams, and then a final.
Super difficult class. I do not recommend this professor. Lots of work and if you do not pass the exams, you will not pass the class.
So I love this professor. I'm in her online class for statistics and we have to schedule our tests at proctored locations. Well, I missed my first test and couldn't reschedule with the testing center. I didn't even email her and she emailed me first wondering if I wanted to make it up! Best thing ever, she is awesome!!!
My only complaint with Professor V is that her explanations can be a bit difficult to understand. You can definitely tell she has a way of thinking through things, and it may not make sense to everyone. The tests are the same as the practice tests, and she makes it clear what to expect. Overall the class was fine, and I wouldn't avoid it.
Professor Vafabakhsh was a very good teacher. Hoplnestly she probably took too much time making sure all material was understood by the class. She goes through lessons at a slow pace and makes a lot of time for questions. The modules online are easy and you can work ahead to get them done. Pretty easy class just need to keep up with the work.
I took this class online but I wished that I had taken in class because this course is hard to follow by reading textbooks and the use of Ti-84 calculator if you haven't used a graphing calculator before. This professor shows compassion when you are struggling, and she will help you with your homework during her office hours. Very caring!
This professor wasnt the best , while she was for the most part easy to reach , she wasnt very good . She made the class much more difficult by not teaching calculator steps . I advise if you take her to use the textbook to learn the steps . Class was basically a PowerPoint and going over an example problem . Your grade is completely exams
This professor is knowledgeable and isn't a bad professor per se, but her lectures are very tedious and it is difficult to understand her accent at times. If you struggle with math I would recommend taking this class with another professor. If you are okay with math and decide to take her, sit close to the front so you can hear her.
Personally she's a good professor. Others here say her accent is hard to understand but I could understand her just fine. She goes over concepts and using calculator formulas step-by-step which can seem drawn-out but hey, you'll know how to do it if you pay attention. Online assignments and 2 exams, no "cumulative" final. Would take her again.
Online Class. This class was HARD but, the professor was pretty clear and available. I had to use the Math lab several times since I'm not exactly good at math and as long as you spend some serious time on it and put it in the effort she will help you out. She lets you retake all quizzes and assignments the last week of class but, no extra credit.
Online Stats class- so much homework. there are 50 assignments- including sections for each homework- 15 questions- each with 4 parts- along with a quiz at the end of each section. Did not teach anything- just posted for us to finish in mathlab. Total of 11 chapters. Had to teach myself. spent over 70+ hours in mathlab
She's very patient and will answer all questions. The technology used in this online class was beneficial in learning the material. Quizzes have unlimited attempts and were very helpful in preparing for the tests. I would definitely take her class again.
The Professor was not bad, but not the best teacher I've ever had to be honest. She gets extremely sassy and will snap at almost everyone in the class when it's not necessary. Honestly, it's easy to pass as long as you pay attention to the work done in class and submit your homework.
The teacher is super nice and understanding, its just difficult to understand the teaching methods. There is a new topic each class and pearson mathlab was used. A test every two weeks and TONS of HW! The quizs prior to the exam were really long and all timed. If math is already hard for you, you will have to get a tutor and work hard! NOT EASY!!
This is my favorite class! Professor Vafabakhsh is a great instructor. If you pay attention in class and complete the assignments on time you will definitely pass this class with flying colors. I would take this course again for sure! Thank you Mrs.V!
This class is almost impossible to fail. However, if you struggle with math or haven't done it in a while I think you should find another teacher. She has one way of explaining concepts and, honestly, doesn't answer your questions the best (some students are more confused after) But if you are already decent in math this class is completely fine.
This was a hard class, if you struggle with math in general, I wouldn't recommend her as a professor. However, she really taught you how to use a TI-84+ calculator. With that being said I often had to teach myself when it came to most of the homework problems. There are 2 tests both worth 30% of your grade.
Professor V. was my first math teacher at FSCJ. I have never been good at math so my advisor selected me for this class. I have never been so lost in a class before. I took my notes and paid attention and I still, was confused. Her accent is somewhat hard to understand. I would not take one of her classes again.
Though stats can be tough, this professor makes it manageable. Her step-by-step approach and availability to work with you really helps. Consider using Unstuck ai alongside the textbook and in-class practice to make the most of this course.
Professor V was a very informative and helpful professor. If you attend all her classes, it shouldn't be hard to get a good grade. Much of the time you shouldn't need to look at the textbook or PowerPoints to do the homework and she provides extra credit if you score 100% in Practice exams. Great professor!
I am not very good with math so I didn't do too well. She uses an online platform for ALL assignments and grade won't be in canvas till end of term. Her exams are very weighted so study!! IF you do bad on exams you should still pass. She expects you to know most of the material coming in to the class so beware!! Barely has off days, maybe 1-2.
all work in the course is on pearson. 3-5 hw a week which becomes overwhelming especially bc it's around 12 questions each and each has like 4 parts so the hw is very time consuming as well as the quizzes. exams weigh heavy and it was so so hard to pass this class, everyone i knew struggled with it. also not the kindest.extremely passive aggressive
No... Just don't do it!!!!!!! worst professor I've ever taken zero out of 10 would not recommend
