Very fun prof, but unbelieveably hard. Does tons of examples in class but expects you to remember every little trick and detail come finals.

This is one of the easiest course I have had. He could give you a VERY good mark on assignment even thought you calculate the answers wrong. When you came to ask him a question, he would help you by all mean. But,he made the exam really really hard.

For once, a prof that takes that time to get to know everyone's name and tries to include everyone in class participation. The most approachable prof on campus (from what i've seen). His exams are pretty rough, but definitely fair, he presents all the material needed to do well.

Very energetic and enthusiastic. Really cares about his students and wants them to do well. When he organizes extra help sessions, he doesn't make his TAs do them, he runs them himself. Once said "having said that" 30 times in a 1-hour lecture! On the veeeeerge of being the greatest prof ever!

Amazing prof. Knows exactly what he is doing and always has time for his students. Go to his lectures, do the assignments and you'll have no trouble in his class. Everything on the final/midterm is something that he has done before. (well usually :P:P)

After two terms in his classes I've got nothing but praise to sing for this man. He is one of the very few profs you will ever meet that actually cares about every single one of his students. Cherish your time with him if you should be so fortunate.

BEST PROF EVER, willing to help, and takes time to work through problems if you ask. Comes in on Saturdays if asked to, office is always open. The man has some funny jokes to, and remember to laugh or your final will be a little bit harder. Don't ever skip this man's lectures, you'll be missing out.

Great Prof! Puts a lot of effort to explain concepts, brings in props.. even goes out of his way to hold demonstration labs on Saturdays. Always avaiable to help.PHYS 115/125 are not that easy, but it's the same exams for all sections and those attending his are definitely at an advantage.No wonder his class, esp 115, is frequently over-capacity.

Rohan wasnt even my prof but I still went to his classes- he does good examples and is always available for help. Most of all its funny watching him wipe the board or hear him say Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeerge of slipping. Course is super hard and his exams make him lose lots of points though

VERY helpful prof that brings alot of energy to the classroom, making you want to learn. Also his method of teaching is very effective. Of course, his exams are totally hard, but because he really does prepare you for them, he teaches you really well and is totally worth attending class. Also likes to make jokes and crude comments and are funny.

He is an amazing Prof...incredibly helpful and encouraging and is basically in his office all the time to help anyone that needs it. If you are lucky enough to get him then make sure you go to his classes and pay attention because there is no notes online but he keeps the class interesting and funny.

He's tough but he goes out of his way to make sure each and every one of his students succeed. He's either in his office helping those who seek it or he's lecturing. He holds bonus lectures during the week including Saturdays. I enjoyed all the lectures and dirty jokes. Work hard and don't fail, Rohan will kick your ass if you fail.

BOSS professor.. You'd be lucky to have him as a prof. Don't miss any lectures. The course is decently hard, but he explains well, and if he sees your trying, hell try his best to help you. He tries hard to remember all the names, and I respect him so much for that. Probably one of the best professors in uWaterloo, if not the BEST.

I had a different prof but went to Rohan for his review session before the final. I learned more there than I did in like 10 lectures with my prof. So energetic, eager to help. He packed a lecture hall for this session, easily 300 people were there on a Saturday morning.

Just because he bellcurved your marks up, and was a easy marker in 1A, it doesn't mean he'll do the same in 1B. Had a 7X in 1A, dropped to a 5X in 1B. To be honest, PHYS 115 had easier course content than PHYS 125. Good luck! GO TO CLASS!

He makes Physics interesting, helps A LOT!!, and he makes physics much easier.

One of the best professors you will ever have. With his research in Physics education, Rohan really knows how to teach and more importantly, he will show you how to evaluate and understand the question. You have to make it to every class, or else you will be - the way he phrases it - "screwed."

He was a substitute for my regular phy115 prof one day. He is really energetic and makes things make sense. People from my class run to the bio building to get seats in his class. When I was writing my mid term in access ability he gave me a hint on a question I was stuck on, I ended up solving it. It was the one with the train and the car.

Good prof; he provides an extra class to solve for some difficult questions weekly. But if you talk to others when he is talking or you are using a laptop during his class, he will ask you to leave, pretty rude.

Incredible lecturer. The first university lecture I ever attended, and to this day the best prof I've ever had. Lectures are informative and entertaining. Difficult course, but he does everything he can to help you pass.

Rohan goes above and beyond what you would expect from a university professor. He genuinely cares about his students' success, and he makes every class enjoyable by being upbeat and inclusive.

Rohan has opened up a whole new world in the subject, and now I find myself studying physics as a break from other subjects. Not because it's easier, but he has made it so much more enjoyable than I could have ever imagined. It's such a privilege to have a professor like him!

By far the greatest professor I've had in my 1A term. This course was by no means easy: 60% of the engineers that wrote the PHY115 Midterm failed, and the final was from another world. However, Rohan puts forth his utmost effort to ensure that his students succeed. Try your absolute best in this course and don't be discouraged by your marks.

Challenges you to do the best and cares most about his students learning. He likes to give many difficult examples and they help develop problem solving skills. The midterm and final were both very difficult but he wants to make sure you have learned the fundamental concepts of his course. He was definitely the best professor in my first semester!!

Absolutely amazing with his lectures. He is extremely enthusiastic and cares about his students. His exams are insanely difficult though, and many people fail them each time. You may have to take his class twice, but at least it'll be fun.

Rohan cares. He cares about each of his students. Their attendance, their participation, their grade. If students are willing to try and reach out for support, Rohan is there to support. He is a great lecturer and makes lectures entertaining. He is quite a respectable man and professor.

Great prof, as someone who hated physics in high school I actually ended up with a semi okay grade and crammed for 16 hours before the final. The midterm is brutal (and multiple choice) but our final was very fair and they must have curved it a lot. He's funny and his lectures are the only ones I've never skipped.

He gives amazing lecture. Conveys ideas clearly and gives a lot of examples. Midterm can be a bit tricky. Final is much nicer.

Too bad he is retiring, he is an amazing prof. He is so kind and caring and also super funny.

Rohan is one of the best profs at the University of Waterloo. He makes lots of jokes during lectures. The content isn't always straightforward but he ran two extra help sessions each week to compensate. He respects students and students respect him. In fact, he knows many students by name. Midterms were insanely difficult so be prepared.

Rohan was an ASTOUNDING professor, working at UW for over 36 years. He pushed me to take a teaching TA role when I started my MSc in 2016, seeing something I didn't at the time. I worked for him for 3 years. Today, I run a credible uni tutoring company (GeorgeTutors) inspired by him. Rohan passed away in July 18 2023. Thank you for everything. RIP.

I have no words to describe Professor Rohan Jayasundera. The moment you entered his class he had an incredible energy. He really cared for his students and for their success. Rohan was not only an incredible professor but an amazing human being. Today I am where I am because of him. His constant guidance throughout university was unimaginable.
