Dute's a good teacher, but if you have a hard time staying awake--stay away from early classes. Look for his on-line quizzes because the questions will be on the tests. Nice guy overall and gives good notes. Dodo WILL be on nearly all tests.

This guy is a the bomb. I mean he has a Wiscosin accent and knows his stuff. He is absolutely hilarious. His tests aren't easy but you need to study because this is college not hight school. Take him because he is a great guy and very very good teacher.

This guy is HILARIOUS. His tests are based majority on notes, and I recommend going to every class because if you don't, despite if you copy someone's note, you will not understand it. The tests are pretty challenging, but you should do fine with a little bit of studying.

Easy A. He's the best, keeps things simple and too the point. If he doesn't like something, he doesn't teach it. Attendance is optional, and if you get unotes, don't bother going to class. If you're low on money don't get the book. I didn't open mine one single time. He's very nice and helpful too if you have trouble (which you shouldn't)

Dr. Dute is great!! Biology can be tough, but as long as you read through your notes, look up things in the book that you didn't understand, you'll do fine. I would definately reccomend printing the slides off his website for taking notes on, and also look over his practice questions before each test. He's funny, and his lectures aren't boring!

Dr. Dute is an extremely smart man, he knows what he is talking about... His tests are pretty tough though. just know how to relate the material to life and you will do great.

Know this is not a freebie. He's no trip to the dollar store. Average class test grades for the 4 tests were 75,75,75,& 80. Study UNnotes alone and you'll get at least a 80-85 on tests.Dute is definitely the easiest biology professor in auburn. His tests are unpredictable. Attendance is not mandatory, but what he says in class is what you'll be tested on! I'd invest in a tape recorder because he doesn't write much on the board or use powerpoint slides. Depending on the person, SI can be really helpful. Dr. Dute was always available to help and is willing to work with you. 4 tests and a comprehensive final.

Be sure to understand the concepts completely because his questions are application style. Pay attention to the examples and stories he tells in lecture because you will see them again.

Dr Dute is the man. His tests are very fair. On our first exam, the class average was a 75. His lectures can be overwhelming and intimidating at first, but his tests are relatively basic. An A in his class is attainable, but he makes you work for it. I would HIGHLY recommend taking one of his classes. He is a little boring but very intelligent.

Don't be afraid to ask him questions if you miss something he says- he doesn't mind repeating himself. He's a great teacher, very helpful. Study and you'll get an A.

Good teacher. Tests come from his lecture so GO TO CLASS. It's easy to make an A or B on tests if you just study your notes. He posts practice questions on Blackboard and MasteringBiology for the tests. Grade consist of 4 tests and the final. Always uses helpful, everyday references about difficult topics and has a witty personality.

Dr. Dute is adorable. If you take his class get ready for some old-fashioned laughs and many cat analogies. He loves the subject that he teaches and is good at it. A genuine attempt to focus in class, good note-taking, and a review of those notes several days before the test guarantees anyone an A. Attend the pre-test review sessions. Recommended.

Take this class if you have the choice! He is a very straight forward teacher & makes class funny. It is a good bit of information and requires some attention, but there is never homework. That being said, the tests are important, but they are pretty easy. Know your diseases! The tests are completely note-based. Don't waste $$$ on the book!

Dr. Dute's Biology class was by far my favorite class this semester. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK, if you take decent notes you should be perfectly fine for the tests, the tests are somewhat difficult but if you aren't completely getting something watch a YouTube video on it and you'll be golden. Wish I could take all my science classes with him.

To me, this was a pretty challenging class, but he is awesome if you pay attention and keep up. Lecture notes are everything in this course; my book is still shrink-wrapped, and there is no homework. Very smart, very eager to help, and very kind. He makes a lot of corny science jokes, and he often relates material to stories about his "kitties."

He will often explain things that will be on the test and is a very nice guy. His class is optional, but skippingmissing out on a large chunk of the test. He gets his questions from everything covered in lecture. You need to use a laptop in his class cause he goes fairly fast and everything he says is important to the tests. He's willing to help but only if you go to the effort to get it, and it's really helpful info.

You need to study a lot to pass this class. No HW, pop quizzes, etc. It would help a lot to record the lecture and then go back and listen to them. Getting old tests would help a lot to see what kind of ?'s he gives, but don't just study the old exams cuz he changes 95% of it. Know how to apply the words not just memorize the definition.

I absolutely love Roland Dute. His lectures are golden and have made me love biology so much more. Get ready to hear a lot about his feline friends because he ties them into basically every topic. I have made an A on all 4 tests but if you havent had college level biology in the past, get ready to work. Don't worry about reading the book.

Having a good background in high school biology, this class was not too tough for me. Textbook could be useful for clarification, but I didn't use it at all. His tests come straight from the lectures so you really only need the Mastering Biology online access part and not the whole textbook. Honestly the best teacher I have ever had, he's an adorable old man who loves his cats almost as much as he loves biology. Everything that he explained made sense, there wasn't much confusion especially if you take good notes.
