His class is not to difficult and atleast he knows what he is talking about.He is also a very generous grader. The tests are not too hard either. He is funny sometimes ... Just a little slow to get started when it comes to lab.

This is really a great class to take if you need 3 easy credits. It's not entirely boring, but you will survive. i think he knows it's not the most fun so he makes class go by pretty quickly. he passes around lots of gems, which is cool. plus he gives every student their own diamond! ;-) really i got mine! just take the class. it's an easy A.

Prof. Scal gives fair tests. His notes are great. He is very intelligent and humor helps facts stick in your memory. He is one of the best teachers I have had so far.

Professor Scal is a cool guy. He makes class somewhat fun with his humorous jokes. He likes his students and tries to make sure his students understand the material. Tests are straight from notes and textbook. He grades very fair. I took him for Geology 101 and enjoyed the class too.

I thought he was fair. He showed and explained how the class did on tests. This course is for premeds and hardcore science majors. I got a B and was happy. He did review on his own time and helped during office hours. Funny jokes and made sense to me. It's a hard class so make sure you study and do the assigned reading. Notes were important

he was fair but tough. if you where sick i suggest that you still go in to class even if you have a doc's note

he was excellent.. im pretty good in science, but geology i find extremly boring. i took his class and found it much more interesting.. (who knew rocks wud b so interesting?! i never needed the textbook and i did really good in his class... i got an A! he tried to make the class funny and it worked sometimes.. u should take him :D

I liked this class, it gets boring sometimes,but his jokes are hilarious! try your best to come 2 class everyday, if not he will THREATEN to drop you from the class!

He was one of the friendliest profs I had. I have had courses at several CUNY colleges and this was one of the best experiences. He learned peoples names, and he also got students involved with discussion. I was able to learn about other students and made several friends. Not high pressure, but the choosing an essay took a bit to time.

He's cool. Take his class you will not regret it. Test are from the notes. Intelligent man. I signed up for another class he is teaching. He is fair unlike some professors at QCC.

Class started out focused but then got really spacey over time - he knows his stuff but has many awkward moments. doesn't teach about crystal power, which is a bummer. only physical properties. tests are easy if you study notes, he gives essay questions for future exams and you can write 50 words on a card to have during the exam

The classes weren't that interesting for me, it was basically just a class I needed to take to graduate, but I did really well. I did study for his tests, but he really was a very nice guy, I recommend his class

One of the nicest guys I ever had as a teacher. So helpful and sincere. He is so knowledgeable and interested in the material that even if you're not, you WILL be. You'll learn a lot, and you'll be happy to have taken this outstanding professor.

He is one of the best and probably the easiest professors in QCC. If you take decent note, you don't even have to read the book. All you have to to do is read the summery and study from the note, and it's an easy A. He gives 3 inclass exams (noncumulative) and a final (cumulative); final is optional and top of that he curves every single exam.

Great professor. Would try to jump into another one of his classes. Funny and down to earth. Interesting class.

the class material in itself isn't all that exciting but he certainly does his best to help students and keep the lectures from being death by power point. (his jokes can be corny but give a nice break from staring at the projector for 2 hours)

He's a little eccentric and tends to talk a lot about the topic but overall he gives you all the tools to get a good grade in his class he is super caring towards all the students and he always gives extra credit and points he even curves the grade he listens to and accommodated all the students and took us on a trip and pizza afterwards.

He is an easy professor. He gives you a review similar to the test. The course is boring but overall he's a nice guy and gives every student a good grade. The bad reviews are probably from kids who never show up and expect to pass. You should definitely take him cause he is very caring

He learned student names.- he gave review questions, and his tests reflected the reviews. Usually he answers questions, but some students distract him. we went on a field trip to the Natural history museum, that was okay he is respectful if you are positive. 90% of us liked him

He gave 4 tests and dropped the lowest. He worked hard to get us our grades next day. Used the board, clear notes. Quizzes could be tricky, but he gave extra credit and that helped. overall nice. He seems to want students to work, but rewards a good effort. also his review questions are almost like the test, kmow those and your good!

Super easy the reviews are the tests. He is super corny but the easiest class. I was on my phone the entire semester and still got an A. Take him for an easy grade

If you're a non science major, take this class. He gives study guides for each test and they are really easy. His lectures really make you understand what hes teaching and hes very entertaining. Great professor. He hates phones though and will fail you during a test if your phone goes off.

He's very obviously passionate about what he does. Amazingly knowledgeable about what he teaches which makes learning with him really easy. He cuts out any unnecessary material and prioritizes the more important content. His personality is definitely quirky and nerdy, but what do you expect? He's got a great sense of humor if you can understand it.

Scal is a good professor. Like others said he can be a bit nerdy lol. He takes attendance seriously. If science doesn't interest you or just not that good, I don't think this class will be for you. He gives chances for extra credit. Gives a much of review sheets and includes most the questions from there on the test. Purchased the text for nothing.

Very eccentric but passionate about his subject. He's very clear with his instructions and is an easy grader. Only negative I can think of is he makes a lot of typos in the packets he assigns for homework and his review sheets, so it makes understanding them a challenge. Take him if you want to pass this class.

He loves geology. He definitely remembers participation. The tests are based off of the PP, textbook, and the pictures in the textbook. Don't leave, extra credit test after each big test resulting in a higher grade. A little time and effort in this class and you will get an A

Professor Scal is an awesome teacher. He cares about his students and their grades. Although he is very understanding, he is also stern about the work given, so do not take advantage of his leniency. If you attend the classes and study the notes you will do great in his class. During online classes, he was very understanding and motivated us!

Professor Scal is a generous and caring professor. He does everything he can to help make you succeed in the classroom. Explains the material fairly well, and is always open to questions. Responds to emails fairly quickly. If you find yourself struggling in the class - just ask for help, he is willing to hep. Would recommend to anyone.

Prof. Scal has been my top A professor this semester. During this COVID we need professors like him. He was generous with our grades. His review is exactly what's on the test so there's no reason to fail or the say the class is difficult even his labs are easy. He's very caring to his students he treats us like family. EASY A!!

We all learned a lot of lessons together in lecture and lab taking quizzes and taking lots of new notes and watching amazing documentary videos Of volcano eruptions and amazing experiences to our worlds nature. Take him and get four credits from his class from any semester in Order to graduate on time.

Professor Scal Is The best professor at QCC, I took him last summer semester and weve learned a lot watched amazing documentaries about volcanoes and eruptions I know he was going through a hard time because he had COVID-19 but he still kept the class more welcomed

I liked this class a lot. It was quite interesting. The professor was funny. His instructions and explanations were clear. You can do all the tests just by listening carefully to the lectures (but reading the book is helpful). Recommend.

Prof Scal is very nice and takes the effort to explain his lectures well with extra notes and drawings ; one of the best and goes beyond despite it being an online course ; highly recommend him!!!

I had him as a lab lecture and he really cares about his class even though it's online. He made the lab extremely understandable and will help you with anything you need.

This Professor is one of the Best in Qcc Just go to class participate and do the Homeworks on time and you will hit a good grade.

Caring, respectful, gives good feedback, isn't so tough on you, and actually makes you want to learn some of the material. Just know if you got him, you're blessed.
