She's fairly easy once you get use to her requirements and get a feel for what she wants/expects from you! At first it's a little difficult, b/c she doesn't clearly explain what she wants in the writing assignments. She just throws things at you...
Definitely prepares you for real world.Has reasons for teaching the way she does.Do and keep up with studying and assignments, and you'll be fine.RIGHTLY CRITICAL with you're writing. You get the kind of critique and comments that will IMPROVE YOUR WRITING
Summer (on-line). Excellent professor. At times was not clear with what she wanted but was a fair grader. Would definetely take her again. She threw out a couple of major assignments because of technical difficulties. :)
Summer online class. lot of homeworks and her grading is strict. But the assignments are very useful
She's helpful when you ask her questions. Her grading method and works assigned are fair. She's a good teacher. Not too much lecture in class, mostly in class assignments and activities.
Fall class. Opted for the online section. just do weekly homework and email to her. Piece of cake. One term paper, 8 pages. Couple quzes and tests, not hard if you know correct grammar n such.
Great teacher. Her class is taught in a learning atmosphere not lecture style. what you do is hands on and experiencial. She grades harsh but allows for redos on homework. Quizzes and tests are ok. Work is based on your knowledge not class material.
shes an ok teacher. a couple of quizes, assignments and a big research paper. shes a good teacher and all but without the research paper, that would be even better. i would shop around for other teachers before you want to chose this class.
If you don't mind hard work and want to learn about business communication, take this teacher. There are a lot of in-class writings, homework, a research paper, and few presentations. She is not clear on she requirements, you have to find out yourself.
She works hard to teach, there are many assignments like writing a resume, cover letters, agendas. In class assignemnts are easy if you are a native speaker of english. The biggest difficulty with her clase is that she changes the deadlines a lot.
She is a very good teacher. She actually cares about pedagogics. She is creative and fun, but a little disorganized at times. You'll become a critical thinker and a good writter. Go for it! She is not easy, tough.
One of the best teachers I've ever had !!! You'll leave this class and actually use the skills you've learned. Just remember to go to class everyday for her in class writings and do all ur homework, those points really add up.
not an easy class.. a lot of writing in class.. one research paper, one resume package, and 4 or 5 presentations.... but class is fun.. really teaches you a lot of skills that you can actually use in other classes... final is planning a party
THE BEST TEACHER AT SJSU FOR BUS100W dont take anyone else but her for BUS100W. She is the best, down to earth. Plus she looks pretty hot. 1 or 2 tuff assigment but everything else is comon sense. I probably get a "A" if I do well on the Positio
GREAT TEACHER. VERY HELPFUL. VERY OPENMINDED AND KEEPS HER STUDENTS MOTIVATED. NOT BORING AT ALL
Easy class but ALOT of work. Many oral presentations. Papers are due every week. ALOT of WORK!!!
Best professor of 100W. A lot of work, but learn a lot from that.
The BEST! THE BEST! THE BEST! She requires a lot of your time and work, but YOU WILL LEARN. She is very helpful, funny, understanding, and very very kool. Pick her if you want to get your money worth it at SJSU. An A+++++++ teacher.
She is one of my favorite professors. Class is interesting and you actually use what you learn in class. The final is a party and the class is very easy. There is one paper and you get into groups and discuss about the final party. What else can u ask for
I got an A-. Absolute BEST 100W professor and the best professor I've had at SJSU. I wish I had her class longer, because she made it so much fun and interesting. Everything you learn in class, you will do in real life. Don't miss out!
Best teacher I've ever had! Time goes by so fast in this class and she's so clear in her lecturs. She's also very nice and there for her students. I totally recommend this teacher if you can make evening classes!
Dr. Pollars is my favorite professor at SJSU. Her teaching style is VERY effective. She's nice and is your friend, but demanding too. It's FUN because the final is a party that the class organized during the semester. All of the writing assignments revolve around that party. You learn a lot!
Great teacher that gives you all of the facts. Here tests are essay format and I hate to write essays, but the topics are easy.
What party? :) BEST TEACHER EVER !!! She teaches you stuff you'll actually apply in the real world!!! This isn't an easy A class though, you gotta work for it and attend class every day.
THE BEST TEACHER THAT SJSU HAS TO OFFER! TEACHES VERY NICELY & EXTREMELY HELPFUL. IF YOU READ AND PARTICIPATE IN CLASS, SHE WILL NOTICE YOU AND YOU WILL DO GOOD IN THIS CLASS. SHE USUALLY GIVES A AND B, C'S TO ONLY THOSE WHO NEVER COME OR DO POOR QUALITY PAPERS. U WILL DO FINE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER
Dr.R is by far one of the best teachers I've ever had! It's important to go to class bc most of the learning come from in class activities. You have to work hard for an A! She's flexible and clear with what she wants out of students, but sets high standards. Most professors should be like her!
Very good teacher. I totally recommend her. I got an A in the class, but had to work really hard for it. She's a tough grader, but if you do your work, you can't get less than a B.
Don't take this class if you are international student. You will never get A just B in this class, especially you have accent.
If you're turning in papers, make sure you get it proof-read because she grades real hard on grammar. Besides that, just do your work and show up to class. You can't get lower than a B if you do.
She made me feel very alienated in her class. Strongly NOT recommended for foreign students and those who have an accent.
Dr. Pollard is cool although a bit hippie-ish. Lectures on the book. Beware random quizes! Especially if students don't attend class. I put forth a C effort and got a B+.
The BEST teacher I have had by far. You do need to attend class everyday but that's ok because her classes are usually fun. There is a lot of work but most assignments can be done in 5 minutes. Biggest assignment is the presentation and paper on it. Easy to do if you do it on something interesting. You can talk freely in the classroom if you like.
Pollard is a good teacher. She is one of the best professor at SJSU. I highly recommend everyone to take her. My final grade for the class was a 89.99% and she gave me a B+. I was so close to an A-. Owell! =(
Dr. Pollard is the best!! The class was fun and practical. She is approachable, helpful, and fair. Her WebCT has a lot of information and you can prepare for quizzes, tests, and writing assignments in advance. If you try hard, you can get A; even ESL student like me. I highly recommend her class to anybody and the final was the best ever!!
after taking her class, i think she is the best 100w professor at sjsu. unlike other 100w professors who like to focus only on excessive writing, pollard covers all aspects of communication and doesnt flood students with heavy written assignments. highly recommend her for anyone who has to take the class ;)
HARD!!!!!!!!
I took BUS 166 with her and yes I recommend her.
Dr. Pollard is a great professor. You need to earn your grade in her class. However, she gives her 110% in making sure you have the right things to earn your grade with. Very approachable. I'd take any class with Dr. Pollard. I've taken her for 2 classes and she has always surprised us at the final (yes she gives u slack) xD
There is 1 presentation for this class. Seemed pretty easy. The exams are a joke since she practically spoon-feeds you the multiple choice portion via practice exams and powerpoint slides. The essay portion of the exams may seem tough, but appears to grade extremely easy on it. The executive summary paper (very short) is dependant on terms.
Definitely one of the better professors at San Jose State, however her class is definitely not easy at all. you have to work hard to earn your grade.
it was online, however the class is not easy, she is tough in grading the cases and the multiple choice is up to U.however she is better the Doty.
Challenging professor who really wants you to walk away from this class knowing something. 2 Exams + 1 Final. Tests are HARD HARD HARD. You will breeze thru the MC section and spend hours upon hours on the essay/fill-in portion. As long as you write something down she will give you partial credit. Bring a laptop bc lectures are kinda boring. Got A.
Talk about a B****,discriminated against others except for those who kiss-ass. Brag about her work, while her lecture and class materials are just common sense. Absolutely learned nothing in the class. She could be easy if you're willing to make her feel good about herself. By the way, I'm amazed that she even has a P.H.D, maybe from Heald College.
Professor Pollard is a sweetheart. She is very smart and has an awesome personality. Her style of teaching is very effective. She might intimidate her students at first because of the amount of assignments she gives, but I think all bus100w classes are like that. She's an easy grader and I should know that because I'm not too good at writing.
She is a great teacher. Her exams are hard but if you do the review and take practice exam from her web ct. you do fine. I really think you will learn alot from her.
Dr. Pollard is a trooper! She gave birth and only missed one class! The exams are straight forward but you must prepare for the written part of the exam. Thankfully, she doesn't grade too hard on that part. One group project, two exams, one final and some WebCT work. Lecture can sometimes wander onto topics that aren't on the exam. Still recommend.
Dr. Pollard is so far the best instructor I've ever had. Taking her class was one of the best thing that happened to me at SJSU. She's knowledgeable, helpful, understanding, well read, well informed, fair etc. She's a natural teacher, a meant to be, talented. She knows how to teach and she knows what to teach. You will NOT REGRET taking her class.
very knowledgeable!!!!!!!!!
PROFESSOR POLLARD IS A GREAT PROFESSOR SHE MAKES CLASS INTERESTING AND A FAIRLY EASY GRADER. SHE GIVES YOU CREDIT AS LONG AS YOU WRITE SOMETHING ON THE MIDTERM. ONE GROUP PRESENTATION WHICH YOU CAN READ OFF YOUR NOTES AND NOT LOSS POINTS FOR IT. STUDY GUIDE FOR MULTIPLE CHOICE ONLINE WHICH IS ON THE MIDTERM. SO REMEMBER TO STUDY IT!
PROFESSOR POLLARD IS A GREAT TEACHER! JUSS GO TO CLASS AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. I DIDNT HAVE 2 TRY 2 HARD AND GOTTEN A C- ON MY TERM PAPER BUT STILL PASS DA CLASS WID A B! SHES GREAT TEACHER AND CARES BOUT HER STUDENTS. YOU ACTUALLY WALK AWAY WITH LIFE LONG LESSON. I RECOMMEND TAKING HER ESP SINCE THE FINAL IS A PARTY THAT THE CLASS PLANS! NO FINAL
I love Rolanda. She is sooo sweet! Very understanding, caring, and relates to each individual student. I really enjoyed her class and cant wait to take another with her! I HIGHLY recommend taking her classes!
She goes over the materials pretty well with her slides. Having the aid of sample tests in webCT, the straight forward MCs shouldnt be a problem. The only thing that may dock your grade is participation and the written portion of the exams. Try talk in class and prepare for the written test, she's grading it real easy.
Need to read all chapters in order to pass MT and Final. Essays can be very HARD to know what she is looking for. Pop Quizzes given, and she lost my quiz. She seems knowledgeable but needs to be out in the workforce if she really wants to give reliable info. She's somewhat outdated. I would not take her again.
Prof. Pollard used to be good. Second time I take her class but changed her style. Give too many assignments (quantity over quality) make you read everything, even the cases within chapters, discussion at the end of each chapter, don't know why? Too much stress, ruin your GPA, No curving, no Extra Credit. Hard grader, not recommended at all
Make sure to come to class. She loves to point out the things that may appear in the exam. She grades easy on the essay part and the MC part should be easy if you study and do the practice tests online. However, it's hard to get her points. Must work hard to earn an A.
Online. Pop quiz (random chapter question), group work and chapter exam each week. No final. Two midterms (hard copy case study). Not hard at all. I had Prof. Pollard for 166 and she is very accommodating. One of the nicest professors at SJSU but you do need to work. If you expect to put in no effort, do not take her.
Took the online course. Weekly chapter tests, pop quizes, and research questions. 2 SWOT Analysis essay midterms, no final. Pretty easy class if you put in the time and effort. The time you save by not going to class is used up during the research and test taking. She's very approachable, but at times takes a while to reply to emails.
She is one of the nicer profs at SJSU. She is really passionate about her work and it is not difficult to ace the course. If you wanna learn anything, take her class.
She thinks she is much smarter than she is. Very illogical. Loves to talk about herself. Random grader mostly inconsistent and grades low. Has no consideration for your efforts or GPA. What she wants is unclear and ever changing. I would pick anyone else before taking her. She isn't on tenure track and feels sorry for herself.
She is actually a really great professor. Almost too giving to those who do not do there work. She is very willing to help and will spend time to make sure you understand.
Acts much like an elementary school teacher, but is nice and helpful. Gives good lectures, very easy grader. Weekly, but small, group projects on a certain company, also weekly chapter quizzes from study questions in the book (161B). Class is drawn out due to boring class debates . A semester-long individual project w/1 group chapter project (166). Easy tests, study powerpoints. I recommend
Great Professor! Quiz and team project every week. It's easy. She gives extra credit. She make's the class interesting. So what her son helps put stickers on the graded papers! Her teaching style is young at heart but gets the material done! She curves at the end =). I am definitely taking her for Bus166.
What was up with that group (as in whole class) final that we made up? We all got the same grade, why?? More of a debate class and exercise in psychology than a business class. Great hands on examples, lots of reading & writing, vague guidelines and mystery around every lecture. If you're in for a different challenge this is it!
Lots of lecture slides and note taking, but Prof. Pollard is talkative and enthusiastic about the topic. She is also very helpful is you need help and just ask her.
One of the best professors I've had. Dr. Pollard makes you work hard, but it's worth it. Quiz for every chapter in the cook, two SWOT analyses, and four exams. Extra credit opportunities.
My opinion only: this is the worst MBA class I have taken in the MBA program. The class is all about memorizing theories, which are not quite practical at all. There are no clear guideline in the assignment. The final examination is terrible - 50% of the MC questions have NEVER been covered in the class before. This class is confusing!
Dr. Pollard keeps the class interesting with various activities and discussions. Sometimes it was difficult to know what was expected for assignments but that motivated people to work hard and put forth effort.
SLACKERS & PROCRASTINATORS BEWARE!!!. Dr. Pollard may not be the right teacher for you. She makes students work hard in order to understand the material which will be helpful for future classes. She is one of the best teachers I had at SJSU for 2 of my classes. Be ready to do the reading and case analysis. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Class is VERY boring. you WILL fall asleep. She does not teach, she reads powerpoint slides. Some tests are ridiculously hard while others pretty easy. Shes unclear on requirements and you end up paying for it. The group project is a waste of time. You wont learn anything from it.
For your own good, please dont take her BUS 210 class. She covered all material in first few class really fast . After that we had nothing to do in the class. We were forced to memorize lot of theories. I think the final should be report or project only. She could have tried the activities from text and made the class a little fun.
Lectures are dull. She reads straight from the slides. But you will get lots of points for being in class and participating. She curves the exams, which are all multiple choice (midterm about 40 questions/ final 90 questions) You won't need the textbook as long as you download the powerpoint. I highly suggest you read the articles she posts = quizs
Dr. Pollard will lecture straight from the slide, available on blackboard. Practice the online test, because 5-10 questions will be on the actual test. You don?t really need the book, just have to memorize all of terms.
printout and go over her slides, which she goes over in class. Sometimes she adds things or points out important points NOT in the slides, so its up to you if you want to attend class or not. Don't need to read as long as you go over the slides and attend class. Tests can be hard. take her online practice test. better than other 166 classes
It's O.K if u do not have a choice. She speaks super fast so u may understand the material in class but forget it later. Take practice test, and a a broad understanding because her test is kinda tricky.
Her class is well structured and she will give you a reasonable amount of homework. In 200w, you'll have to prepare and present your business plan by yourself (some group work but the business plan is an individual project). I recommend this professor.
She's very organized and is a great professor. Take good notes using her slides, which are available online. 2 midterms and a final. READ THE BOOK and go to class! Take her online quizzes because some of the questions will appear on the test.
One of the best teachers in the business department. If you need the class and shes teaching it, take it with her. multiple choice tests are easy and sort of common sense. Study from the class slides and attend class everyday and you can probably get away with not reading.
One of the best professors at State. She is always willing to help her students out and wants everyone to have good grades. Weekly easy quizes, mideterms, and a Final which she practically goes over the final questions in detail so you should do great! Her powerpoint slides are great. Overall smart and friendly professor!!!
I took Business Communication with her. She made us work very hard and in the end I wonder what did I learn about Business Communication - nothing. Hard work gone waste
one of the best professors in business. very organized and efficient. good class that everyone should take.
Prof. Pollard is a nice person, but very hard grader. She wants students to succeed but her constant negative feedback is not encouraging at all. If you work hard, you get a good grade. Unfortunately, this class is required.
One of the best professor for the organization dept. not difficult to understand what she wants. Team project was crucial. She wasn't tough at grading either. Just get good team members. quizzes turned out to be really important. Test is not really hard. Just study her slides and lecture.. you're good to go.
Pros: She is helpful, descriptive, and patient. You must engage in the class. If you do not ask questions, she will reasonably assume that you understand. Take responsibility for your education and raise your hand. She likes questions. Cons: GROUP PROJECTS are one quarter of grade. She sometimes talks about non-absolutes in absolute terms.
Very inconsistent with her grading. Impossible to know what is expected for the assignments. Absolute unclearness. she gives people advice for leadership and management, but her leadership and management itself is questionable. Unfortunately, this is a required class. You are expected to write a bus plan by yourself without any help from her
Her lecture and assignments don't seem relevant to each other. She won't tell you what her grading criteria is. You just have to take the risk and guess what she wants. She graded subjectively, no matter how much time and efforts you put into. She often dismissed the class one hour earlier. I learned how to write up business plan by self-study.
Good teacher! If you are willing to work, you will get a good grade. Do not expect to get a pity grade. Must attend her classes.
Clear lecture material.
Was the Best Instructor I had at SJSU. Read her site material, very helpful and informative. Uses and grades primarily on theories and understanding. Great teacher! If your looking for the perfect meld of world situation experience, fun, and work, she's ideal. Recommended
Awesome teacher. If a lot of people get bad grades on a test, she'll throw out some questions. She tells you exactly what's going to be on the test. She doesn't take roll, but make sure you go to class for daily pop quizzes. 1 question, write a few sentences. All power point, and some group work. I highly recommend her! I will take her again.
Professor Pollar was one of the best professors I've had at SJSU. She was able to make night classes bearable and taught 2 to 3 chapters clearly in the span of an hour when other professors go overtime. She defiately knows her material. Tests can be tricky but if you read the material and study hard it shouldn't be a problem. TAKE HER!
Go to class! There's daily quizzes, fairly easy if you read the chapter. Take good notes from her power points and don't leave early because she will give you a couple test questions & answers at the end of the power point. She keeps things straight forward and simple. Take her for 161B, 166 & leadership!
Took Bus16 with her in Spring 2013. This teacher is awesome and will work with you to help you understand what is going on. Deadlines are variable, which was great for me, as I could schedule asignments around other classes. Want a professor who's interested in the class? Rolanda drives up from Hollister- that's a 100-mile round trip!
Good teacher. I didn't do that great, but it was because I didn't clarify an assignment for the midterm. Very fair and helpful. Must be proactive and ask questions if assignments are unclear.
Prof. Pollard pretty awesome. Breezes by the 3 hour lecture. Tries to go fast. Multiple choice tests are kind of tricky. Group work not so much fun. Book is cheap. She still uses the overhead which is kind of funny. She is quirky and cool. If you take the 3 hr class you probably can't get a better teacher. She is pretty interesting person.
Your awsome
Pollard is so great. She's funny and engaging. Class is pretty simple, lectures are posted online and can be followed easily. Take this class with friends and you will have fun and pass. Me and my group presented after happy hour once (night class) and we got an A!
Passionate and knowledgeable on the content she teaches. She cares. This professor exemplifies effective teaching. I have had her for 2 classes now. She changes the course assignments/grading if needed (very flexible). Encourages critical thinking and uniqueness. Just go to class and do the assignments the best you can!
cool prof
Dr. R. cares about her students. Knowledgeable on the content and passionate about teaching. If you take the evening class, it probably can't get a better professor. Do the reading, come to class, and you will succeed.
This class kicked me in the butt. It was really difficult and it is the only class I have received a C in. She definitely curves the midterms, but not so sure the final. The final really brought everyone down, which was really upsetting. There are these 3 terrible presentations that are really difficult. I don't know how I feel about this class.
Hard class, very unclear grading. Very unorganized and deadlines are so gray you don't know when to turn in work. The tests are hard but graded rather easy. I did very well on tests and group project, averaging 95% in exams and group project but still ended up with a B+. Vague professor and guidelines take someone else.
Chill prof that allows you to turn assignments in a week late. Took her Fall16 for night class. You don't need the book unless you want extra info;she fills in the info thru lectures. No quizzes. Jrnl entries per lecture, 1 career paper (counts as part of midterm&final), 1 midterm paper, final exam, & group project presentation during finals week.
161a is more about personal reflection on related course topics. 161b is all about memorization. Both classes have group projects done throughout the semester. Professor Pollard is super, super smart and wants each student to do well. I learned a lot from the classes and from Professor Pollard in terms of school/work and also about myself
NO BOOK, You don't need to attend class. No quizzes. 1 Jrnl entry each lecture (but not due every week), 1 career paper (counts as part of midterm grade), 1 midterm Jrnl entry, final exam, & group project presentation during finals week. Easy B. Need to at least study the power-points to get an A.
I learned so much in her class. She teaches with a different approach, instead of PowerPoint or lectures about text she actually uses games and activities to get students to learn about leadership and working with different cultures. I enjoyed her class a lot and would take her again.
Overall decent teacher. Her teaching method was all about being vague with everything. Not much homework, lots of lectures, 3 tests, and class all leads up to end of semester 30 minute team presentation. A bit difficult to know what she wants because she wont tell you for the purpose of this vague "teaching method".
People give this prof. enough credit. Everyone looks at the negative side of how disorganized she is with the semester group project. She is extremely experienced in her teaching. Going to class is important but notes can be taken from slides. Ask for help because she cares about her students & wants you to succeed. 1 GP, 1-2 MT, a final & easy hw
Absolutely no structure to this class and is making it extremely more difficult with covid-19. Took her 2 weeks just to give us an update on the course and told us she was busy, but managed to make online exams way harder than they need to be.
Personally, I do not like the way class is structured. She doesn't give back papers in a timely fashion and does not input grades into Canvas, so it is extremely difficult to know your grade. She tells you to estimate it yourself, which is the professor's JOB!
So disorganized and have no idea what assignments need to be done or what my grade is
I cannot express enough how disorganized this teacher is. Canvas is all over the place w/ assignment dates from previous semesters. It's even worse now that all classes have moved to online because of COVID-19. She's mixing due dates w/ her other T/TH class and even listed the final for the wrong day. This class just gives me anxiety.
Ever since quarantine she has been MIA. So basically I'm paying her to not hold a single online lecture or recorded lecture, update canvas deadlines to at least this semester, not grade anything, and hope for the best without knowing my overall grade. I'm glad my hard-earned dollars are being used well.
just flat out disorganized and bad
Teaches about ethics but probably the most unethical teacher. Is it ethical to ghost your students and take their money and not teach or grade anything?
(1/3) DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!! Disorganized to the point where she is not teaching the class AT ALL, you are teaching yourself and doing difficult busy work. Since moved to online, has not talked to students, has dates from previous semesters (you don't know what is due & when). Huge group project that she doesn't give you any info on.
Once classes became online due to corona, she completely ghosted us. Only about 5 weeks later did she finally post an announcement about how she's busy. Just a few days ago she actually started putting grades in--took her a WHOLE semester. Never knew when something was due because due dates were from a semester prior. DONT TAKE HER IF ONLINE
Don't take if online, she doesn't know how to teach online. Not clear on instructions for assignments or even tests. Doesn't reply to emails. In-class teaching was okay. Online tests are more difficult than they need to be. Requires lockdown browser + webcam. Has a few trick questions. 2-4 assignments per week. Overall, don't take if online. AVOID!
This is hands down the worst teacher I've ever taken. She doesn't give a damn about emailing back and claims she's always busy. Literally don't take this professor unless you want to be frustrated all year. Worst teacher I've ever taken!!!
There is a lot of bad comments about her right now. I understand why people feel this way, it was a hard transition into online class during COVID-19. She is ready a bit unorganized as it is and then give her an online class.... it did not mix well... I would take her again if I had too ...
Does not reply to emails asking for help or clarification, gives info to one section of the course and different info to another section of the same course so you only know everything that is due IF you have friends in another section. Makes tests more difficult than they need to be and puts no effort into teaching, GET ANOTHER PROFESSOR!!
just took her final, literally impossible for anyone to take. Cumulative final. Dropped my grade from a 98% to 87%. Once online, she did not post recorded lectures or host any lectures. You're basically teaching yourself. Very unorganized online and has a lot of assignments. NOT an easy class, even if you study it does not help much. avoid her.
I understand that going online without much of a notice is hard but it took her 5 weeks to even update us on what was happening. Her excuse? She was busy. Exams are cumulative & not curved even if there are mistakes on the answer key. She responded to ONE of my FIVE emails. Due dates are from prior semesters. Presentations w/ no guidelines. A MESS.
Folks, this class and this professor is a joke. One of the worst professors I have ever taken at SJSU, she is extremely disorganized and purposely tries to make her class hard when it doesn't need to be. She lacks communication, is not there for her students and her class is soooooo boring. Trust me, take another professor and actually learn!
the worst "teacher" I've ever had in 16 years of education. Drop her class, she DOES NOT TEACH. I had a 98% in the class before the final and the final dropped in to a 79%! No curve on tests even though her answers are wrong. you teach yourself. Claimed she was too busy to teach us even though IT'S HER JOB. Doesn't reply to emails asking fro help.
I really loved her lectures because they were very interesting. However, she is a very vague teacher in general and does not respond to emails frequently, so the online transition due to Corona was BAD. Some of her answer keys to tests were wrong and she was MIA majority of the time because of wifi issues. Online class BAD. In-person class GOOD
Worst professor ever. Never responds to emails, very disorganized to the point that her exams have wrong answers. Her total grade calculation is a joke, so if you want to get a grade you really deserve and good experience, avoid. Shell drop your grade by at least 7%, because thats how she calculates.
If you are taking her class, good luck on not getting lost in her giant mess. She is the most disorganized professor I have ever had, and she gives zero damn about her students. We couldnt reach her for 5 weeks once the shelter-in place order was effective! FIVE WEEKS no announcements, no updates, no response to email. So good luck!
She is an amazing lecturer and you really can learn from her but only in person. After we transitioned to online only due to covid-19, the class conpletely fell apart. MIA for weeks before we actually heard from her. Her Canvas was a complete mess with ppts. from 2013. She really needs to clean it up. Also her tests contain many errors.
I mean, she ain't too bad. Just review the slides and assignments weekly and you'll be fine. The Cumulative Exam is based off terminology
Do you want a class that is absolutely horrendous and a waste of time? Look no further as Rolanda Pollard will provide the amazing experience of useless assignments and extremely specific exams that will not be graded until the next year!
Worst class I have ever taken. Professor does not respond to emails nor explain what you need to do for an assignment. There is no grading criteria. Lectures are boring. Midterm is easy and the final is tough. Not an easy A.
online fall 2020. frustrating class. hard to contact & doesn't respond to emails. has errors in quiz questions, then doesn't fix them or fix grades. assignments vague & confusing. takes away points for things she never told us to do. disorganized deadlines and assignments. assignments don't make sense. no ec. some exam q's on stuff we didn't learn.
This professor is unorganized and inconvenient to take online. She rarely responds to emails, so nothing is solved. Most of her assignments were due right before class started, even before giving the lecture on that topic. She would always leave us clueless the whole semester. She's so introverted that she always ghosts her students! Avoid her!
Her lectures are boring. She's messy and disorganized. The exams are crazy difficult. Avoid taking this class if you can. She's a sweet person but is lacking technique as a professor. The tests and assignments in this class were just all over the place. Honestly, she just seems super uninterested in her job, which demotivates you.
She is SO UNORGANIZED. It is very hard since the due dates are all messed up, I have no idea when assignments are due, it is a complete mess. Basically self-teaching
Just don't take her. She has no clue what she is doing, therefore you have no clue what you're doing. Her assignments are so confusing, she does not know how to answer questions or use canvas. Avoid her if you can.
So disorganized. How can you not respond to emails as a professor? Her assignments are so vague, she fails to give specific instructions. At the best, there's a lot of deadline flexibility but its stressful to have to deal with her busywork group assignments.
She clearly states at the beginning of the semester that she does not respond to emails and will ignore them. Then, she makes her officer hours by appointment only, but since she ignores your emails, its impossible to make the appointment. She is too lazy to change the dates so everything was in last semesters dates which was very confusing. AVOID!
One group (family) that we kept all semester for work. She extended assignments and allowed make-ups to the end of the semester. No textbook but requires you to pick your own and do reports on it weekly. Due dates are confusing but she opens them up again. Exams on lockdown and heavily lecture/slide-based. Curves the grade if everyone does poorly.
Not a very smart professor, she's nice but the course content is pretty useless. Her lectures are a big waste of time. She's lenient with dates on assignments but the assignments are pretty pathetic. Incredibly disorganized, she has files and assignments on her canvas from 8-9 years ago. She's not too good.
Do not take her if you have a choice. I was blocked into her class, and it was the worst class I have ever taken. STAY AWAY.
Despite her bad organization (which she admits), Professor Pollard was not bad! Her class was mostly group projects and we had plenty of time in class to do them. I liked the collaboration and her lectures were unique and helpful. We also had as much time as we needed to do assignments, the due date didn't matter. Tests are from her PowerPoints.
THE LEAST ORGANIZED PROF EVER. When I read the reviews before taking her I didn't think it could be this bad. The best advice I can give is to just get ahead and stay ahead when it comes to assignments because she will assign them with a due date months later. Entire class is based on the groups you make day 1. Choose wisely.
She is so confusing and extremely unhelpful. I had to drop her BUS3 160 class on the first day and find a different and better section because I saw red flags. She said that she will not give easy or direct answers to any of her students' questions. Worst of all, she talks so fast. I hardly understood what she said when I attended her class.
If you take this class, most of your assignments will just be the same but you change like one thing. Her due dates are "suggestions" most of the time and will also often change what the assignment is on the due date. She is inconsistent with due dates and it is infuriating to see all the missing assignments. The class is also boring as heck.
The teacher is unorganized but is an easy course. Lectures aren't very fun but you could learn if you pay attention. There is a final presentation project and hope that you get a good group or else you'd be doing all the work. Quizzes are taken at home and with a lockdown browser and midterms are based on the quizzes
She is the most disorganized professor you will ever take. Her canvas assignments are from years ago and you will get lost in finding the assignments you need to complete.
The most unorganized professor I've had at SJSU. She has assignments that have a due date that she told us to ignore and to follow the hard deadlines so by the second week of class I was already missing so many assignments because I was told to ignore them until they got brought up in class. Class heavily relies on group work the worst professor.
Not very organized, takes a long time to grade assignments.
So disorganized on canvas. Her lecture is mundane and boring and takes all of class. This class was a bit of a joke because youre not really learning the material. Just crappy group works, weird quizzes and exams. Prof seems wirey and odd. Find a better prof for this class if you care to learn legitimately.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This professor is unprofessional and disorganized. Her assignments are short and insignificant. You will have like 20/week. There were questions on the midterm about material not given to us in this course. I cannot take a quiz right now because the due date is still set for May. Avoid the frustration, take a simpler professor
Intro Ldrshp & Innov - The class itself wasn't bad. Many things were extremely unclear, especially due dates towards the end. She is nice and kind. A lot of class activities. There are pop quizzes on readings. The rest of the quizzes are on canvas.
Avoid this professor. She is very unorganized and will give you a 0 for assignments you turned in, so make sure you save the papers for evidence. Don't even bother emailing because she will not answer.
VERY unorganized. Loses your assignments resulting in 0's even though you have done it correctly and received a grade back for it. Overall really nice teacher, bad structure and PLEASE KEEP YOUR PAPERS AS BACKUP INCASE SHE MARKS IT AS 0.
She is such an amazing person. Her structure could be a bit confusing but it's very easy to get the hang of it. Seems like she leaves a lot of homework but they are easy to do. Make sure to study for midterms and final.
very unprofessional, professor has yelled profanities at me. Material was unclear and when asked questions answers were unclear.
Take another class. This class is weird, disorganized, and the power points look like they were made by a 5th grader. Her canvas page is ridiculous and navigating it is frustrating. Tasks you with choosing your own textbook and doesn't have great grading criteria. It's kind of an easy class but it's not worth it.
Mediocre, avoid if you can. Assignments are numbingly easy, but instructions/grading criteria are almost always unclear. Lectures are not interactive and involve prof. just rambling for an hour. Organization of due dates/assignments are completely a mess and unprofessional. Course is doable, just focus on quizzes and the midterms (quizlet based).
The professor's canvas is disorganized and full of assignments from years ago. The lectures are dull and cover elementary-school level concepts about teamwork. There's a final team project that she doesn't give details on, and you're stuck with the team you chose for groupwork on the first day of class. It's not a hard class, but a regrettable one.
Her canvas is disorganized so you can easily miss assignments. Also show up to class bc there's group assignments that you have to be there for or you won't receive credit. Soft deadlines are accepted at any point in the semester, but hard deadlines aren't, so don't miss those. If you can, avoid taking her class
Very polarizing class. All the coursework is easy, but you don't really learn much and assignments are graded vaguely. I really didn't enjoy this class but it was very easy and pretty minimal effort to get this required class out of the way. There are definitely better options, but if you have to take this professor it's painful, but very doable.
Dr. Pollard is all about critical thinking to a fault. Her lectures are very informative but they can go off topic. tests are cumulative, based on slides and quizzes. Keep all the work from your group assignments and don't freak out about due dates, BUT keep an eye out for HOMEWORK due before class in description of assignments. Get a good group!!!
The most messy professor I've ever had. Don't even bother to look at canvas, she has work assigned all over the place. She assigns work like a month advance with no reminders. She doesn't know how to use canvas, has attitude, and doesn't respond to emails. She clearly states in her syllabus, she doesn't do emails. Don't take her take my words.
Professor Pollard's class is quite polarizing. The coursework is easy, but the lectures can be dull and the class structure disorganized. unstuck AI proved helpful for studying and preparing for exams. Overall, a passable but forgettable class.
AVOID, cannot use canvas, long droning lectures, incredibly self absorbed personality, and again refuses to fix or learn how to use her canvas. Exams are mainly based on her slides and quizzes. Save your papers and try to do the homework the moment it's assigned to your because her canvas is a mess. Literally pick anybody else.
I have never felt the need to write a RMP review until being in her class. The main #1 issue is that she does not take the time to set her canvas assignment due dates to accurately reflect their actual due date. She said she avoids it because it takes minutes to do each time, but this is HUGELY confusing as a student in her class.
Guys, if you take this class just know that this professor puts lack of effort into helping us learn the information about Organizational Behavior and one thing about her is that she doesn't even respond to emails, so don't even bother emailing her about an assignment that you've missed and that she already graded it!!!
Worst professor I've ever had. Unclear grading, extremely self centered, looses papers and blames you. Loves to make everything about her, and is an absolute bore. She'll randomly change your group mid semester. She does not do emails, and can never clearly answer questions. Never cared to write a review until I had her. Save yourself the time.
Poor grading criteria and very disorganized. Reads off slides, huge disconnect main points, and never provides clear deadlines for assignments or loses them easily. Grade book errors are extremely common and doesn't use emails + quizzes are taken from the slides but attendance is mandatory to not miss group work which factors into your final grade.
Worst professor I've had. Grading is vague, all work must be on paper. Class is cumulative, lectures are just reading off slides, and she doesn't help or answer emails. Grades are weird such as 8.9/10 or 17.8/20, with no reasoning behind the scores. If you ask her a question she will respond to you with a question. Avoid at all costs.
I would recommend! Lots of in-class assignments and homework but typically easy. Don't miss class cause you'll miss assignments. 2 Midterms and 1 Final Exam. Very team-based class. 2 Major Essays and 1 Final Presentation. Due dates may seem all over the place but look for the hard deadlines! (Submit any past work up until the consecutive midterm!)
Basically an easy high school English class about business
I'm a 4.0 GPA students, this professor has very weird and vague grading with no logics, if you ask her why, she will backfire with lots of random questions and answers. 2 quizzes 2 individual 2 group assignments due weekly and with hard copies. Very unorganized module courses that confuses you. No extra credit, take another professor at ALL COST!!!
This professor is truly one of a kind, and not in a good way. She lectures and yaps off the board the whole time. I'm mid semester but I felt the need to create a RMP account just for this. Don't get too comfortable with your group, one group member will be switched out mid semester :) makes 0 sense. I would never take her again.
so disorganized its crazy her concept of having hard deadline and soft deadline assignment's suck because she can barely keep up with them making it literally impossible to be on top of all the work. Her structure is off we do the quiz and work before she gives us the lecture so what's the point of showing up to class. Nice person lost class
Very heavy on group work and requires consistent attendance. You won't get a good grade if you don't attend. The professor's grading and organization on Canvas is very unorganized and can sometimes feel inconsistent. Make sure to track your grades and deadlines for assignments.
Hard and soft deadline assignments that make it difficult to keep up with due dates. Vague grading like 17.8/20 with no real explanation. One group member switched mid semester, but it ended up helping my group so hard to complain there. Honestly not as bad as other reviews suggest, I think the group you're in can make or break you overall.
Easier than you think TRUST ME. but.. weird grading WEEKLY: 2 quizzes (EASY, not proctored, go over slides beforehand), 2 group assignments (EASY, assigned/due end of class last 10/15 min), 2 individual assignments (EASY) 2 exams (30-35q) + 1 final exam (63q) - (ALL kinda hard & proctored). 1 Final Group project FREQUENTLY MISS CLASS? = FAIL
