He teaches very well.
very good professor. Very clear. easy tests. good notes.very helpfull. I Higly recommend this professor.
He is such a good professor, even if the subject he is teaching isn't really of your interest. He really makes the class bearable, he is very enthusiastic about what he teaches so you really learn a lot in his class. He couldn't be a better teacher if he tried. He's the best!
Mr. Avila is a very good teacher and he is laid back. He will help you to pass if you attend class though attendance is not mandatory. He teaches well and is very understandable.
Nice teacher 5day class he only held class 4 days. only two test. And extra credit attendence not mandatory easy A does not take entire class time we get out early every class
Mr. Avila is the best Ameican Heritage proffesor ever. His class is extreamly easy and attendance is not mandatory, plus he explains everything down to the point. I strongly recommend this teacher....if u dont take the class and pass something is seriously wrong with u.
If you're looking for intellectual stimulation, this class is not for you. Professor Avila is pretty simple-minded. With that said though, his class is the easiest A I've ever gotten. His tests come straight from his notes and no matter what he says, the book is not necessary.
Mr.Avila tried doing an essay exam for the first exam which made me want to get out of his class because of the numerous of potential questions compared to the actual number of question he was going to ask. Though that didn't stop me because i got a 100 on that exam. He is a good teacher though don't expect an easy A if your not going to show up.
Although Mr. Avila was the most boring professor i have ever had, his class wasn't too hard and to me he basically just spends the entire class period reading straight off his own powerpoints so i survived by tuning him out and writing everything, which got me an A. It helps to study.
super good and easy to learn from
Great class. I learned more about history than I thought I already knew. If you attend class and study you will do great in this class. He will give you what you need to know for each test. Easiest A I have ever made.
Super awesome teacher! And you actually learn a lot! He made history easy and fun to learn. He's funny and his class was always so interesting. Take him, easy A! All the tests are multiple choice except for the last one which is an essay.
take him!its a straight forward class.1st test is 5 short answer q's, the rest of the 4 are 50 multiples. the final is based on the the last few chapters (not the overall).i'd recommend u have him in the late morning or after lunch when he is not too tired, thus more funnier.
Great professor. He gives you reviews before the test so you'll be able to remember most of it with the reviews. Also, he asks questions that will be on the test during the review so don't miss out! Easy A.
excellent prof! has a TA and 2 SI leaders to help. also takes mandatory attendance,1st month for financial aid purposes and who should be dropped to make room for the waitlisters. after that (if you want) you can skip lecture and simply go for the tests, but for an A i'd attend every class because the prof is good, reviews before n after tests!
I took him for the summer! He is a great professor! He teaches by lecturing with powerpoints. He has an SI leader and give 5 points for going to his sessions! There was only 2 tests! The information is easy! He's always there if you need help!
4 Exams, NOTHING ELSE. then if you go to 5 tutorings he gives you 5 points added to your final letter grade. Easy A. I didn't even buy the textbook and got an A. He goes over everything in class and the TA's give you all the answers during tutoring. Just make sure you study! He is always down to help.
Very helpful! You will learn in his class! He gives you the opportunity to gain 5 final average points if you attend 5 SI sessions (30min or longer)to gain that A! Very punctual professor! Tests will come from lecture notes and textbook, but it's not that hard. He'll go over the exams and welcomes questions.
Hes awesome. SI sessions saved me though. my class was at 7am.
Verry easy simple class in the most part it is actually showing up and taking notes and test you get some terms to define and study each test has roughly 50 questions and is a piece of cake if you study this is a good class cause i learn and am not preasured to turn in assignements
I took him in the summer we had a midterm and final only pretty easy if you study you can get an easy A exams are all over power points, we also had SI sessions which helped me study for the exams he gives extra points if you attend the sessions as well.
Avila's class is PowerPoint after PowerPoint, his lectures some-what interesting, and attendance isn't mandatory but he quotes himself then makes it a question on tests. 4 tests, no assignments, never homework.
Class is a simple PowerPoint lecture that requires note taking. You just study the notes & voc. list he gives you, & you'll end up with an A every test. SI tutoring is also a major help on tests & gives you 5 points on you final average. You rarely use the book until the final. 4 Tests, no quizzes. Easy A class.
Hes class is simple powerpoint after powerpont. Its alot of writing and for the most part only 4 test 25% of your grade, no homework. He is really chill, he makes history really interested.
Really great professor. Very easy class.
Amazing professor. If you attend S.I sessions he gives you 5 extra points towards average. 3 tests and final is a written essay. He gives terms to know before test and also the topics for essay. Can't go wrong with Dr. Avila. Taking him for 2314 as well.
Dr. Avila is an amazing professor! All his lectures are powerpoints. Must take notes because he does not post powerpoints on blackboard. He doesn't even use blackboard. 3 multiple choice test and the final is a written exam. Book is not really necessary since all you need to know comes from the powerpoints. Tests are unbelievably easy!
He's an incredibly easy professor and made history fun. I despise history, but I actually learned in his class. The only times I didn't like his class was when his TA would give the lecture. -_-"
easy class
Extremely easy class! I took it during the summer and there was only 3 grades which were the midterm, an essay exam, and the final. He also gives up to 5 grade points into your final grade if you attend five S.I. sessions. Definitely recommend!
This prof. is great! His lectures are helpful, and he can really get you to pay attention because everything he teaches is exciting. I took American Heritage 2 at 7am, and did great! All I can say is: attending is helpful, required books were not expensive, and there were only 4 exams which were fairly easy. He is one of my new favorite professors!
So awesome!
One of the easiest classes I've taken. No homework. Grades are just based on 4 tests with the final being an essay. You don't have to go to class but I do recommend it. His lectures help a lot.
The class is an easy A if you go. Copy the PowerPoint and you will have all the notes you need. Go to the review sessions before the test; its basically the same questions with slightly different wording. He goes through the material kind of fast though, so be sure to write as he talks if you write slow. Also, the main textbook is almost never used
Kinda tough! Sure there are not many tests, but that means they count for a lot more! And the tests are extremely short! 5 question. Miss one you have an 80, 2 is a 60...
Really great professor, he makes class interesting. Attendance isn't mandatory but his lectures are very important for passing. Your grade is composed of 3 multiple choice test and the final is an essay. It is very easy to pass you just have to go listen and take notes.
Mr. Avila has great lectures. There are only four tests, each 25 percent towards your grade. Two tests from the textbook and 2 tests from little short books he assigned (Lincoln and Washington). Extra credit from attending SI session which is how I passed the class with an A. Attend the SI sessions!!
Great professor! It's an easy A as long as you study the notes from the lecture
I took it online. Responded quite fast but did not seem that happy to help when I asked advice through email. One test and assignment per week, Mid-term and Final. Sometimes little unclear grading, but altogether very doable class.
Easiest professor I've ever taken. Jokes around every now and then and is pretty relaxed. Has a PowerPoint with lecture notes that he uses for each chapter and goes into detail for each slide. Review sheet after each chapter that is pretty much identical to the quiz he will give. Takes grades on attendance so just show up and get an easy A.
this professor literally grades every single thing. like, he requires 14 font, single-space, etc. if you do everything good, let's say an essay, but you forget the font, he can lower your grade by 30 points. happened to me. So strict on the things the wants. Come on this is just a basic course. Does not give extra chances. 10min for 20ques. quiz.
It was a very easy class, he tells you what is he expects regarding assignments and quizzes. I missed one assignment and it dropped my grade from a 89 to an 84. So do the assignments!
His class is pretty simple. For the online class I took he stuck to the schedule posted so there's no random assignments. However, he is very strict on the formatting he wants. If he wants 5 sentences and you give him 4 you will not get credit. I used black font instead of the red font he wanted once and he took off 30 points which put me to a 70. He's extremely strict and even the best essay will be graded below an 80. Miss 3 assignment in a row and he'll drop you. You do need the textbook!
Easy A
He is really strict when it comes to grading assignments. He asks for a specif font, color, size etc. Most of his assignments are easy, but the essays are a little more challenging. Used to give three chances to do quizzes, but in the middle of the semester changed the policies to one chance. Manageable class, just keep up with the readings.
With effort it should be an easy class
Blunt man. Bring the hard copy of book or loss participation points. Use quiz link from book to study for class. Group discussions. Forces students to talk about topics during class and to your classmates. He really doesn't lecture. If you are self-motivated, might as well take the online course. Strict about rules.
He is easy and nice. He does lectures and activities every class. You MUST read the book and take lectures notes. The quizzes can be True/False or Fill-in-the-blank. You have to attend class as it counts towards your participation grade(the book counts as participation grade). You will have to write an essay(try to go to his office to get an A).
Easy class. Loved it. Show up, pay attention, and ask questions. Sometimes you need to get into groups to read sections during class, but its helpful b/c you share the important information with each other. READ THE TEXTBOOK (need physical copy), b/c the quizzes are based on that. Show up ON TIME, as he begins immediately. DONT SKIP.
I really enjoyed Mr. Avilas class. There was a lot of reading done in class & you were expected to read some out. I never did & I finished with a B. His quizzes are very easy if you just review your notes once or recall the lectures. Attendace is mandatory but he doesnt care if you arrive late or mid-lecture. Im taking his 1302 next semester
Weekly Tests are 10 min for 25 questions & asks super specific questions that are due by 5 pm.
It could just be that I find history SO boring, but this was my least favorite class I've taken online. He asks us to read the chapter each week, then we take a quiz thats 20 questions long and only have 10 minutes to take it. There's also a short essay due every single week that he's super nitpicky about.
his really easy and understanding. he always lets you out of class early. Attendance is mandatory and the set book too. His midterm was easy. You take like 5 quizzes that are easy if you read the chapters and take notes. Overall easy professor and not boring!
He gives two essays one is worth 20 percent and the other is your final. if your paper is not exactly like his grading rubric he wont hesitate to give you an F. if you read the book you'll pass but if you slip up he wont help you. if you are a lazy student or occasionally do not show up to class i would not recommend him.
Had to have the book. Took attendance everyday. About 4 quizzes throughout semester and it actually weighs a lot, it is what gave me a C. Midterm was online through blackboard, one paper turned in through blackboard and then the final was a paper on a bluebook. Wasn't hard at all but you do need the book and need to read to pass the quizzes.
Textbook is mandatory. 4 quizzes 10 minutes for 10 questions. Must read chapters in order to pass quizzes. Lectures most of the time and in class group activities. If you like History you'll enjoy it.
The teacher requires you to read the book in order to pass his test and quizzes he assigns.
Reading quizzes are easy 10 throughout the semester. Midterm is a paper that he provides the materials for. Final is a blue book and provides the topics to study. Attendance is mandatory
Professor Avila assigns 1 quiz and 1 assignment (essay/kwl chart) once a week. His midterm exam and final are 100 questions in 50 minutes each. For essays, if you don't right exactly what he wants he will give you a zero. He is not clear with instructions online. He basically gives you the assignment and doesn't explain anything at all.
Took for 1301 and 1302. LISTEN to his lectures and you'll be good for tests! I don't understand the negative reviews, as he is VERY clear on what he wants, basically hands you exactly what you need. You'll read 2 short books. Always let's you out early & cancelled class several times. Very straightforward and reasonable!
He requires you to have the book by the second day of class if not he will deduct points. There is one-two quizzes per week about one-two chapters. Chapters are around 60 pages long so they can be tough to read. 10 minutes for 20 questions. And tests are 50 mins for 100. My class was about 2 hours long but he usually let us out after 45 minutes.
He grades essays in terms of what he wants you to say rather than what you've researched and discovered. He isn't clear about what he wants you to talk about and yet still gives C's for every essay you write. I really disliked this class and unfortunately will probably get a C in the course.
I took his hybrid course which meets only 4 days the whole semester. The rest of the class is completely online. He gives you the whole chapter out of the textbook to read (usually 25-35 pages depending on the chapter) and makes you take a quiz and do an assignment. My recommendation, don't take the class.
I had Dr. Avila during the Spring semester and his class was the toughest out of all. We had weekly assignments (mostly writing assignments) and quizzes (20 questions in 10 minutes). If you want an A, you have to work for it and do everything he asks especially when it comes to formatting!
Would recommend if you are willing to work for an A.
If Avila makes you happy then take him. Otherwise you need to study hard everyday. Textbook needed or you fail. Avila can be good for you in the sense he is a fair grader
Avila is hard. You gonna need to use the textbook for all assignments. Quizzes 20 questions with 1 minute on each one. You have got to work for your grade in Avila's class.
The worst professor Ive ever had. A lot of homework and grades really tough.
Avila can be difficult at times, but other times he can be good too! Avila is one of the most respected professors in this institution, so you better respect him! He knows what he is doing, so be kind to him. He does not like mumbo jumbo!
You need to buy the textbook for Avila's class. It's mandatory. Avila will make you work for your grade, which can be nice considering it's a good subject
He has a clear grading criteria, but he is too harsh on the grading. Would not recommend, unless you are highly organized and use his exact formatting with this and that.
Avila makes the class very difficult while it's extremely easy. Would not recommend, unless you do every little thing, including format perfect on the spot
Avila is one of the most talented professors at the institution. Only problem is, he is extremely strict on format and the colors used in the assignments. He will deduct 40 points for any errors in your grammar or font.
There is homework in this class and you need the book or you will fail. He is a very, very strict grader, so you better make sure you know what you are doing and your fonts are all matching, even the colors!
Avila made the midterm very hard, I barely passed with a 60. He is highly respected but he is a strict grader. Overall, interesting class but harsh grading
The homework is super easy, but you have to abide my his fonts and number of sentences. This is the only professor I have that actually cares about fonts, and this is my third year.
Good teacher.
I'm starting to dislike the assignments, they are to time consuming. He wants everything to be perfect or he will take points off. I have to make everything perfect to make him happy
Assignments help me learn the material better. I'm learning a lot.
He is a very great professor, his work is not hard as long as you read what is needed. His grading can be a little strict but I mean he tells you how he wants things done and it makes it much simpler. He tries to make lectures fun so the class is not boring.
Good online class. Well organized.
gives good feedback; clear grading criteria
Would definitely not recommend. He is the toughest grader ever. I barely passed with a C and I worked hard for it. Can't imagine anyone actually getting an A in his online class. Very unfair.
Would definitely recommend. Can't imagine anyone not getting at least a B in his online class. Learned a lot.
Great Professor, I took his class online and was really understanding because of the pandemic. At first, he grades hard but just put some sort of effort and follow his instructions and you will get good grades. Quizzes are fine if you read, and the final is mostly stuff you've read about already. You have to buy the textbook though but still good.
Good professor. Get ready to read, you'll need the book to pass the class. Took it in the Summer, but still, he's a tough grader; make sure you do exactly what the instructions from the assignments tell you to do.
you read 1 chapter ,1 quiz and assignment based on the chapter per week. He gave midterm review that had same questions on the exam. Really easy if you read the chapters.
Once a week you will have to read a chapter. The test is easy. Some of the questions that will be asked on the test are found at the end of the chapter you just read. Look up answers on Quizlet. The true or false questions should be found on google as well. You will also have to write a 1-page essay for every chapter, but it's not hard I promise!
Such an easy class but this incredibly picky professor made it so hard. You will have a quiz every week and an essay. The formats he wants you to write the essays will always be changing. He will always be changing it so read instructions. If your content is right but your format is slightly different, you will get something around a 40.
Essays every week, tough grader. It's very hard to write essays every week since its the pandemic and every other professor requires essays. He gave me an F for 2 essays (1-2 pages) because I missed one question from an essay. My fault but I did not deserve an F. Ridiculous.
This class is easy but Professor Avila is extremely rude. He does not give extra credit assignment. He does not find it in his heart to be nice enough to accept an assignment even if it was a major emergency. Instead he will just lower down your self confidence and probably make you cry. He is very picky with assignments also
This class highlights the core issues at hand with our current online situation. Teacher is incredibly impersonal, and doesn't grade things himself (instead has a group). Even in emergency situations will not budge on grades, the only exception was the recent outages (and even then the deadlines were only extended about two days). Demoralizing.
He responded to all of my emails the same day I sent them. He is strict but fair. He gave me several deadline extensions on assignments. All I had to do was ask. Quizzes come directly from the chapter reading. The weekly assignments had us apply what we learned in some way. This is an onine class and he met with us for office hours on Zoom.
There is an essay every week that is at least a page minimum. Dont let that discourage you, once the weeks pass you get the hang of it. He gives clear feedback just make sure you answer the questions properly!!
The worst professor in the History department. His assignments are not difficult, but they are filled with intricate requirements like color-specific font and size requirements. Seems to focus more on grading based on requirements rather than the actual contents of the essay. Unwilling to cater to his students' needs. Avoid this horrible prof.
Summer class- You will need to learn everything by yourself. If you prefer an interactive class, I wouldn't recommend this professor. He is a tough grader, so you need to be very precise with your words. He gives a lot of assignments, mostly essays and Q&As. I also wouldn't recommend his class if you work and/or do other activities.
This is the kind of professor that tells you that he doesn't care if you are in the hospital since you have the responsibility to turn in work on time, and meant it. Changes grading criteria every week from font color to font size, grades nothing by himself, the worst online class I've ever taken. Highly suggest to look for another professor.
This course with professor Avila is not incredibly difficult but you will have an assignment and quiz weekly. The textbook is already provided and assignments are 60% of your overall grade. No lockdown browser, but everything is timed.
I was a history major and this class was very disappointing! Horrible Professor. Over critical and rude in responses. Not approachable. Demoralizing when he gives you a zero on the whole assignment for using a cited quote. He treats you like youre beneath him.
Pretty good professor but assigns essays every week. For the first three weeks it was discussions & then after that it was one to three page essays every week along with a quiz or an exam. Reading is heavy as every chapter is about 20-50 pages. Essays need to be very detailed & on point to get above a 95.
Awful teacher, easy class. If you have an emergency, do not expect him to budge on assignment due dates. Grades harshly based on random things. Very condescending when you speak with him. I feel bad for anyone that accidentally signs up for any of his classes. Overall, try your best to avoid him, he's not a real teacher.
Professor Avila is excellent; if you follow instructions, you Are good. He replies fast to emails and helps the best way he can. He does not use the proctored browser for his assignments, which mainly fulfills! In this class, you will learn; if you want a Professor that does not care, then he is not the right one.
Really bad professor in my opinion. Makes you do unnecessary assignments that don't even make sense for a HIST 1301 class. He is really harsh and rude in replies and does not hel.
Very rude and doesn't reply to emails, is not trying to help you at all and will not make any exceptions regardless of your situation
He tells you what assignments are due and what he expects from the essays you write. The chapters are easy to read, but you should definitely make time to go through them. It was an asynchronous course for me, so I had control over the way I was learning the material. Helpful hint: manage your schedule to help you get things done on time!
Difficult
I really liked this class for the reason that it was pretty chill and assigns 1 assignment once a week which is either a quiz, discussion or essay.
Class consists of an essay one week, discussion the other week followed by a quiz. The first essay I did horrible but I got feedback and from then I have been doing amazing. He has someone grade the essays for him and they expect a certain format which isn't difficult once you have it down. A textbook is provided for us. Reading required
Super easy, tons of reading, very organized. He has us read one chapter a week, and revolves between essays, discussion boards, and quizzes. He responds to emails fast. He has everything set up so you can plan way ahead. The class is super simple, and the grading criteria is super clear so it's easy to get good grades. I'm taking his next course.
Terrible. One quiz a week which is easy but poorly made plus either a lengthy discussion post or writing assignment/essay each week. Everything is due at 8 or 10 on Fridays. I was used to assignments being due at midnight on Sundays. Full time job did not work with this deadline. No extra credit and VERY strict on deadlines. Not even ten minutes.
Super easy class. There is a weekly quiz and an additional assignment which is either a discussion post, an essay, or a KWL chart. Most weeks it's a discussion post. All the answers are in that weeks chapter. He gives super detailed instructions so its impossible to do the assignments wrong. He will check over assignments if you email him.
Took him for Hist 1301 and he was very condescending in his emails. When asked for feedback on an assignment he would simply copy and paste the assignment instructions or he would state he provides a rubric so you can see exactly why you got the grade you did. THE RUBRIC IS BLANK ON MOST ASSIGNMENTS. Not the hardest class but horrible professor.
He is honestly the worst professor! I wouldn't recommend this class even if mandatory. He isn't understanding about any situation no matter the circumstance. He does not actually teach nor does he explain fully about what needs to be turned in. He has another person grading for him so he won't care if you don't like the grade.
Professor is a strict grader on essays. The assignments are discussions, quiz, essay in that order for 15 weeks. No make up days unless he approves them. I wouldn't recommend to take unless you want a hard time
Professor did not allow any makeups and for failure or missed assignments. Also was rude in every email and graded very harshly.
Took this class online and it was pretty easy. Quizzes on each chapter from the textbook (he provides online pdf) and he gives either a quiz, discussion, or essay on them. The quizzes and discussions are quiet easy as long as you read, and the essays are just 1 page, he only gave a 3 page essay once. Overall great and easy class!
All assignments were due on Thursdays and they were pretty easy. It was either a discussion, essay or quiz. Only 1 assignment per week. Not hard to get a A/B in his class.
Even though everyone says he's harsh and mean, he cares for students. He will give you deadline extensions ONLY if you let him know with time. His essays can be quite confusing but if you email him politely he will help you. Every week there is one assignment (a quiz, essay, or discussion). He's not that bad honestly, just strict.
The deadline for each assignment is usually Thursday night. Be on the lookout when he posts the midterm and final since he gives a short window to complete them. Assignments were mostly discussion boards and quizzes. Not a tough grader at all. He responds to emails and his instructions for all assignments are straightforward, including a rubric!
Mr. Avila is great. Every Thursday at 10 pm we have either a discussion, quiz, or essay not including finals. Let him know ahead of time if there are complications with your work. He can be a tough grader once you first start out but once you know how he likes it done you will get A's. I recommend him. Just remember to read and ACTUALLY try.
This history professor belittles students and grades ruthlessly. His dictatorial teaching style crushes morale. With impossibly high standards and no feedback, learning feels impossible. Overall, a regrettable experience for any student. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND as a recent student of his !!!
I regret taking Avila's class. He dismisses any student viewpoint that differs from his own, creating a stifling and discouraging environment. His lectures are disorganized, and he often fails to clarify complex concepts, focusing instead on reiterating his opinions. Grading is biased, rewarding conformity over critical thinking. Avoid this class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He is by far the WORST PROFESSOR IVE EVER TAKEN. He grades everything really heavy. Even if your a History major I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM. STAY AWAY FROM HIM AT ALL TIMES. Just take another professor for your own good.
Before you submit an assignment make sure your triple checks the instructions. If you are confused at any point email him before an assignment deadline, he will help for the first time. You have to read the chapters in order to pass quizzes and other assignments. He is big on deadlines so just do your work before the deadline. Easy A.
Took Dr. Avila for History 1 and 2. Easy assignments, just think and provide details to support your argument. Weekly work, but manageable. Avoid procrastination and you'll get an A. TA's give feedback, but grading can be inconsistent at times. Do not listen to the negative reviews. You don't have to be book smart for an A. Your book is your key.
Professor Avila's history class is a disaster. He lacks any understanding of the subject and shows zero compassion for students. His lectures are a chaotic mess, leaving everyone confused. Instead of fostering learning, he makes history feel irrelevant and overwhelming. Avoid this class if you value your education.
Honestly very straight forward but not caring at all. Arm could've fallen off and he still wouldn't have allowed me to turn something slightly late or not exactly to his expectations. no empathy at all.
he has been the worst proffessor ive ever had at utrgv. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS !!! he has so many bad ratings for a reason and i dont know how he still works there i will be contacting the dean of students.
WORST proffesor , lack of empathy and he doesnt care for students grades. even though were paying for our classes
Professor Avila has a structured grading system, but if you stay on top of assignments and use study tools like unstuck study, it's manageable. Strict but fair - just don't expect any leniency on deadlines.
Mr.Avila is a great prof, lots of people complain about him but they are lazy. Just do your work.
The very worst professor. Stay away from him. He could care less about you as a person. People like him should not be teachers.
He's alright, just do his work and you'll be fine, but make sure you do it don't let it pile up or else it will catch up to you. Also hate the fact that he actually uses the AI scan since he gave me 2 zeros even though I never used AI. I showed google docs time lapse and he still said it didn't prove anything. Just beware of being accused ofusingAI
STAY AWAYYYY this professor
Don't recommend he doesn't care about the students or if you'll pass his class will give you a zero if it detects ai, quizzes / final are online and pretty easy but those essays will bring your grade down literally the worst professor he will bring your gpa down
I took this professor during Summer I. The experience was stressful because several classmates were falsely accused of using AI. It created a tense environment and made me feel like anyone could be unfairly targeted next. I would not take him again.
Good guy, but maybe too sarcastic just do the work and use the Writing Center instead of Grammarly. Grammarly will hit the AI detectors Honestly anll my liberal anrts profs are done with AI.
This professor made my GPA go down. I was initially at 4.11 GPA and he made go so low for something he falsely accused us for. He also makes false grades so you won't report him. This professor does not know anything about History and solely judges your essay whatever AI tells him. I genuinely wrote my essays without any use of AI and I still got 0
His class overall isn't very difficult, but the main challenge is that he relies entirely on AI to check essays. If the system detects any use of AI, it's an automatic zero with no chance of appeal. if an assignment is late for any reason, he will not accept it. Even if you're on your death bed.
One of the worst professors at UTRGV. Assignments are due at odd times like 10 PM, and grading is left to AI, which also flags students with unreliable detection tools. The teaching adds little value, you'd honestly learn history better on your own. If possible, avoid this class and find another professor.
Bogus grading policies, and you can tell he really couldn't care less about this class. He gives so little work that it's so easy to mess up your whole record. SNAP, you could go from an A to a C. He'll wait until his 10 PM deadline to see who doesn't submit on time. 3 Strikes and he is awake to immediately request you get dropped from the course.
HORRIBLE! does not care about his students at all. If you have another choice, genuinely take someone else.
