Prof.Verma brings enthusiasm into the classroom, and she is VERY friendly. I enjoyed her class because I can feel her passion for teaching. A few might find her lectures boring, and I believe it usually results from lack of preparation for class. To understand and appreciate her lectures, you must come prepared and complete readings ahead of time.
She is a really nice person. Extremely lenient. Will try her best to make you succeed. This is much appreciated by if not all, most of her students
REALLY HELPFUL. ATTEND HER LECTURES THEY ARE USEFUL AND INFORMATIVE.
Incredibly nice, but a bit naive. I felt bad because alot of students take advantage of how nice she is. She really goes out of her way to make things easier for her students, and is very friendly, but I did not feel like I was challenged at all in this class. She can be very unorganized during her lectures too.
Amazing Professor! Lectures are really organized and informative. If you want to do well in this course then attend all the lectures. Class discussions and guest lectures were my fav part.
Excellent professor! Her lectures are quite useful, organized and informative! She is very nice, especially providing perfect suggestions! I learnt a lot and love her so much!
below average. not an expert.
One of the best profs I have been taught by!Knows the topic really well and makes the class very interesting and interactive.Lectures are organized and informative. Also the most approachable prof I have met.Always available to answer questions and provides extensive guidance regarding not only the course but also future career paths.A "must take"!
Prof. Verma brings much enthusiasm and passion to her class and is very approachable and friendly. Her course is highly informative and if you have not taken it, I highly recommend it. It should be a regular course in university because it educates us about a critical resource that we all depend on: Water. We need to be educated and informed!
Very passionate professor. Very organized, responds to emails quickly. She also gives out her cell number to be able toreach her at all times. Some test questions are random and not based on the main ideas. Although over all good teacher. Should take her class
The professor is great!! the course was very interesting. I did not expect the course to be so interesting and inspiring. The professor spends a lot of effort making the slides and combines current issues with class topics. The policies, the issues and eveything we learned were closely associated. Very responsible professor! Great course too!!!
Very passionate, refreshing change from boring lecturers who just read the info off slides. Extremely helpful, easy to approach and contact. It is clear she knows her stuff and it's nice that she integrates it into assignments.
One of U of Ts best Profs. Very knowledgeable and passonate about water. Classes are easy to follow, and content is very interesting. Prof. Verma is extremely helpful in clarifying content if you dont understand Great class if interested in water management.
Excellent Professor, very enthusiastic and outgoing. Furthermore, a Professor that really cares about her students; in regards to learning, internships, and future job opportunities.
She goes very off-topic during lecture - leads to a very boring lecture. Also very unorganized, doesn't even post slides before class (I usually check 20 mins before lecture starts). Not a particularly difficult course, just extremely uninteresting lectures.
Romila has been great. She is very well educated in her chosen field - water hydrology - and offers both professional and personal experiences to help students better understand complex issues and relationships. She's got a great sense of humour and is always available for a little extra assistance when required.
Professor Verma is an impeccable educator who utilizes class time both effectively and efficiently. Her teaching methods are of the highest standard. Lectures were clear, concise, and thoroughly explained. Furthermore, Professor Verma's availability, enthusiasm and positive attitude has helped provide me with a magnificent learning experience.
She is very helpful and her expertise really shows through her teaching. As a student, I felt cared for and eager to learn. Very very very very good prof! She loves the subject she's teaching, and her passion rubs off on her students. Thanks Prof Verma :)
She literally reads everything off the slides!!! Poor quality professor.
Super knowledgeable, but for a survey course like this doesn't focus enough on test material. Would be great for a more detailed course in her field for sure.
Professor Verma is extremely passionate about what she is teaching! She is always available for questions after class and by email. Her lectures are clear and concise. She wants to see her students do well and share her passion for sustainable thinking. I would highly recommend taking a course with Professor Verma and looking into her research!
Dr. Verma is one of the best professors I have ever had. Her passion about her field of study makes her an exceptional lecturer with excellent teaching standards and presenting the lecture material very effectively. Her lectures are crystal clear and concise. She is very helpful and easy to approach. I highly recommend her as your professor!
Professor Verma is great! Throughout my undergraduate degree, I found her to be one of the most helpful professors that I had.She is very helpful and even includes extra information in lectures such as information on getting jobs. She is very passionate about her research and really enjoys teaching!
She is very good professor. Although this was a science class, it was obvious her love and passion is in water hydrology. Did not do as good as i want in her class, but still liked it.
Amazing topic - amazing lecturer. Classes were always filled with great discussion - she doesn't just lecture, but invites us into the conversation. Students were willing to share. It was a very engaging class! Some material was obviously nitty-gritty and dry, but a MUST TAKE!
Creative and encouraging professor. Cares whether or not students succeed in class. Carefully organizes lesson plans and carries out lectures in a timely fashion. Always open to review work student submits if valid concerns have been expressed. Lectures are insightful and inspirational.
A really interesting subject (water) that is taugh in a way which makes you want to get involved.
Professor Romila Verma started her first lecture by explaining to us why Water Resource Management matters to her; her enthusiasm and energy to teach could be felt throughout the whole semester and really made this course worthwhile! My passion for water has really been confirmed through this course, with the support of Prof. Verma!
The class has innovative assignments that make you self reflect and think critically. The first tutorial assignment was an outside exercise that entailed being aware of the urban biodiversity. The exercise was very creative and make me look at my own personal relationship with my environment. The second tutorial was also very impactful.
Excellent teaching quality! She connects the lecture slides to her own personal experiences and shares them with us. Also, the assignments helped us to think outside the box, and they weren't super hard either. I enjoyed them. She is also willing to help students.
Prof Verma's class was amazing and class lecture was very clear, interesting and organized. She was approachable and extremely helpful Responding to your requests and concern. Also this class was very useful as well. Highly recommended for other students!
She's really approachable. The final research paper was really difficult to grasp and she gave me a lot of direction for it. Also, she loves connecting her own experiences to the course.
very organized with lecture slides, really passionate. a great course worth to take, really nice professor and approachable personality. however, the research paper do require you to do some work and the midterm test you on detail stuff, be aware.
I liked her; while I wasn't amazed by the course, I thought she was a kind and intelligent woman who really cares about the subject. There were a lot of readings and despite she telling us that tests weren't reading-heavy, the final exam kind of threw me off, so if you take this course with her, be prepared for that.
Amazing Prof. She's super passionate about the topics. She's a fair grader and gives really good feedbacks on assignments. I had a lot of fun and learned a lot in GGR334.
This class was one of my favorite courses in all of my years in U of T. Prof. Verma is very passionate about the topics that it resonates with you when shes teaching. She does some creative activities and shares stories about the topics that make you think differently about them.
Professor Verma is excellent! She is very accommodating towards her students, and her lectures are well organized and informative.
A very caring professor. She is very approachable and willing to help her students. Downside of her class is that she just reads off the slides. The class is pretty simple, but you have to at least show up to 60% of the classes and do all the readings or you will fail. Final essay was hard and worth 40%, but the other assignments were very simple.
The most caring prof I've ever had. She really cares and listens to your problems and helps you achieve your goal. Gives you perspective about future careers. She treats you like her own daughter/son. Best prof I've had during my undergrad.
A considerate and encouraging teacher for the subject. I felt most welcomed when she encouraged me to research on novel topics. Also, a patient listener to hear your wild thoughts and advised your follow-up actions. Assessment is pretty straight-forward as long as you go to class and do readings.
Super inspiring and interesting to listen to in lecture! Lots of personal stories and anecdotes that really help you understand and connect with the material
Though Professor Verma kept her lectures interesting and inspiring, she lacked structure. She tend to jump from topic to topic leaving the class confused. She should be reminded that this is a lecture on water resource management, and not a TED Talk about her next passion project.
Very nice and caring professor , gives good feedbacks and is willing help students Ive taken ggr334 and env200 with her and both received a A, please do take her class ! Very inspirational
Prof Verma is a really clear and organized prof. She makes sure that her exams and expectations are perfectly clear ahead of time, and really cares about student feedback on the way class is run. She also was really good at framing the subject matter of resource management honestly and putting students in the drivers seat as future decision-makers
I had her for both ENV200 and JGE331 and honestly not a fan. Midterms and finals ask for the most random specific things, and she treat lectures as her own personal ted talks, plus they're really boring. Sure, first lecture, maybe two, you're starstruck but then you realize there is nothing more to that, and it's downhill from there.
Great professor. Very passionate and caring both about lecture content and students. Lectures are clear, sometimes with lots of content. Powerpoints are very organized and visually appealing. I think it helps to ask what she's looking for in assignments in order to get an A. She is very easy to reach and is willing to help if you are struggling.
I took GGR334 with Prof Verma last semester. This was the most interesting and fulfilling academic experience I have had at UofT. Verma communicates effectively and holds your interest, making you look forward to every class. She is kind, understanding, and cares about your well-being both inside and outside the classroom.
Professor Verma is a great prof! I would highly recommend her JGE331 course to anyone (not just those in ENV or GGR). She makes great connections to current events and topics outside of the classroom. It would be very helpful if she would be more responsive over email. It's quite difficult to get a hold of her.
Lectures are useless as she just reads off the slides
An amazing professor! While this class was very theoretical, she was always linking the theory to relevant real-world examples. She loves to teach and is passionate about helping students succeed. She always found time to discuss assignments, even if that meant giving students her number to call her when she wasn't in her office. She's amazing!!
I really recommend ENV 200 to anyone who is interested in environmental sciences or wants to start learning about the subject. The lectures are really engaging and well explained. Dr. Verma goes into depth in explaining concepts and assignments which was really helpful! A very understanding and caring professor who cares about her students!
Best prof at u of t, the nicest human being you will ever meet and honestly so passionate about her work. Take any class with this prof you will not regret it!
Absolutely love Professor Verma!! She was super supportive and accessible when I was struggling to understand an assignment, she actually gave me a phone call. She walked me through the whole process it was really helpful. She focuses on important topics and makes assignment difficulty and length super realistic. I hope to have her again!!
Simply reads off her own lecture slides and you cannot gain any additional understanding from them. This is her first year teaching this course and she is very nice, but it really shows that she doesn't know what she's talking about. Textbook is all you need. Quiz questions are often unrelated to the course.
Really nice prof but the material could not be more boring. Writing the final paper now and honestly doing the readings is putting me to sleep, so if you thought to take this course as a breadth requirement and are not really interested in the material do not take this course.
I really enjoyed GGR334 with Professor Verma. She is incredibly knowledgeable in her field and always there to help you. I would definitely recommend her. The one thing I would REALLY stress to Prof. Verma is to pls post the guidelines for assignments and tests ahead of time, instead of a couple days before because it really stresses students out.
Prof. Verma is no doubt one of the best profs i've had at uoft. She's extremely caring, wants all her students to do well and is very passionate about her work which in turn makes her students very excited and motivated to learn. I have absolutely no complaints and would highly recommend her class.
Worst professor I've met at UofT, she doesn't care about students and never response to emails. Lectures were super boring although the materials were not hard. Took years to mark exams and papers, its been a week since the new semester and we still haven't get feedback for the homework from last semester!!! Avoid at all costs.
Contrary to the previous review, I found her extremely flexible and understanding. Her lectures can be a little boring, but the content is interesting and her assignments were really easy. It's not uncommon for professors to not release final assignment grades, and she sent an email regarding the delay for final overall marks.
There are a lot of fake comments that trying to boost the rating of this professor. I understand now why it takes so long to mark the papers and exams.
The most disorganised class I have taken - changes readings (that are LONG) last minute, uploads guidelines just days before exams. 2-hour lectures of constant talking with no breaks. Just watch the recordings... Yet, she came through with the easy grading. This course gave me mad anxiety but in the end, got the A.
assignments were not super long or boring and incorporated a variety of sources (documentary, popular articles, scholarly work, etc). Lectures could be a little boring, but maybe because the topic isn't my focus. Prof. Verma seemed kind and understanding. tried to foster community despite the large class size (wine and cheese night!)
Professor Verma was definitely not a terrible professor. That said, she seemed very unconfident in her teaching; often reading off of disorganized slides. She wasn't organized either; promising marks but taking weeks to return things, and not posting guidelines early enough. Yet, in the end it was a bit of work but the marking was EXTREMELY easy.
Professor Verma is very passionate about her work and usually makes lectures engaging. The only issue I experienced were through email communication- long wait times and responses were not very helpful.
Romila is one of the best profs I've ever had at UofT. She is really passionate about water conservationlooking at it from a variety of perspectivesand providing opportunities for students. She is also super understanding and supportive towards students (she gave our entire class 3 extensions!)
The course itself is very easy. Romila is also generally very easy going. I didn't really notice how long the grading took.
Professor Verma is so sweet - it's clear that she is extremely passionate about her work and sharing her knowledge and experiences with her students and it honestly is refreshing because it makes you excited to learn. She's super understanding and takes extra time to ensure that you understand concepts. Would totally take another class with her.
Romila is one of the best profs I met in UofT. Her lectures gave us a lot of inspiration in both theory and practice. And also she is very caring and supportive of students. The usual schedule and content of assignments and exams is also very reasonable.
She was super nice during lectures but is very unresponsive to emails. i missed some class as i was sick and had some questions but have yet to receive a response weeks later.
One of the kindest professors I've ever had. Cares about her students deeply and her actions show this. She deferred deadlines if students seemed to need more time and she highlighted the exact material that would be on the exams. There were a few essays that weren't too bad. Overall a great course!
Prof. Verma is very caring and kind, but it seemed like she and the TAs had different expectations for assignments. Grading could be very contradictory and confusing. TAs would dock marks for things that Prof. Verma explicitly said we did not need in lecture. No constructive feedback either.
PLEASE take ENV200 with Prof. Verma!! She is one of the most amazing professors that actually cares about students at u of t!!! ENV200 with Prof. Verma has been really enjoyable! EASIEST course ever in your life if you choose to CR. Getting a A-/A is also not hard if your TA is not a tough grader! Love environmental science after this course.
Very, very long readings so get ready to read. Super caring prof. Had her for both GGR334 and GGR101. She has done a lot of work so she's really experienced. Honestly, no bad comment.
She is professional, having awesome and fruitful lectures! I love all the documentaries in this course!
Professor Romila Verma is really professional and knowledgeable! I love all the documentaries in class and all her lectures are fruitful! Overall, it is an easy course and the tests are really manageable, just concentrate in class and study her slides and the required readings, it is easy to achieve good grades.

Mostly considerate professor, not the best lecturer. Her teaching style did not suit me at all. Slides can be hard to read and full of text, and her lectures usually involve her reading off of them. Test questions literally lifted off specific sentences from slides and textbook readings. Seeing fake reviews here make me lose some respect for her.
This class was such a good and informative class! Especially with professor Verma, she held a wine and cheese party online and I missed it because I was away but I thought the idea was just so cute and thoughtful. 10/10 class, just read the textbook and watch the lectures.
Wonderful Professor. Focuses on inspiring students using alarming real-life examples. Very soft on deadlines and believes everyone should excel given excellent effort.
Man this professor is amazing, easy credit and easy A. LOVE HER
Dr. Verma is an outstanding professor who is passionate, enthusiastic, and supportive. She connects course material to real-world issues, provides valuable career insights, and even hosted a wine and cheese night to engage with students. The workload and marking are very fair, and it is a GPA booster if you complete the readings and attend lecture.
Professor Verma is the GOAT. such a caring prof and she makes the course content interesting and simplified especially if you don't have a science background.
ENV200 during the summer was amazing with Prof Verma! The assignments were easy. The midterm and final exam was not hard and it was also based off the textbook and lecture slides which she used in the lectures, which made studying for the midterm and final exam more easier and efficient, highly recommend ENV200!
