Awful prof..midterm is easy, but impossible to finish. Refuses to admit when he is wrong. Do NOT take a class from him. He is awful!!!!
Gave some classes more time to complete mid-term than others, then lied about it. Class avg for mid-term < 50%. Gets upset when questions are asked or something isn't understood. Makes you feel stupid for asking. Hard to understand. Avoid.
The material is not that hard and he has study sessions if you can make it. The mid-term exam was not difficult only to long for the time available. Most people that I talk with could only get half done. Exam average for all 3 sections were from 52% - 54%
Terible prof, midterm way to long for time aloud, doesnt explain course material very well, loves the crab juice and ppl from estevan
the guy isn't that bad. the mid-term was easy, but it definitely was too long.
it's not that bad of a class. Really easy if you put in the effort(just like any class)! The first midterm was a tad stessfull, but it was a learning experience for eveyone.
doesn't give enough examples in class so homework is a struggle. gets behind in lectures; assignments are due before he's even lectured on material. He doesn't teach very well, overall the material is easy but he makes it more difficult than it need be.
Easy enough, if you have troubles understanding people with accents you might have a problem but it only takes a class or two to get used to him. He has study sessions and seems like he cares, he just as good as any other prof.
This guy has NO clue how to teach a class! If you print notes from webCT out that day, by the time you have class, he's changed some of the slides or added stuff, etc. Midterm was way too long, assignments have to be handed in before he's even taught it.
Study sessions were nice yet...pointless..sense you won't have time to complete the exam anyway! Hard to understand, for the first couple of classes.
He have extra session for homework, and the midterm is long and hard. He seems to care, but he have a accents that make the class difficult. overall, he is good prof.

You guys are just as lazy as my dog. He does have an accent but if I understand him (I am not even Canadian) I don't see why you wouldn't. You just like complaining about every professor (based on experience) Take the class he's nice and a fun person.
Very difficult prof. Go to help sessions, may learn a few things for the midterms or finals. Was more helpful outside of class time. He is still learning to teach and I think he will continue to improve with time. But I wouldn't take another class w/him
boring class, and he doesn't help. Really likes pop quizzes so missing class not a good idea. Material not too hard, but his exams are long! I wouldn't take another class with him unless I had to.
Useless teacher. Can't speak properly and makes you hand in assignments that are on the midterm before the midterm. Says "I don't know" a lot, and enjoys pop quizzes. Take it from Bernie.
how can people not understand him?? sure he has an accent but he speaks very clear. class is boring and the midterms are quite difficult. but i would take another class from the cis-man.
He seems to care about his students is always willing to help and answer questions. He expects alot and his midterms are long. Expect alot of assignments and a heavy course load. I wouldn't recommend unless you have to take the class.
a good prof who expects alot but is very willing to help students.
Cannot understand this guy, his teaching method sucked, he wouldn't help and he made you feel stupid when you asked a question in class. Class material not too difficult if you do all the assignments and go to class. Will never take a class from him again!
Great prof! You will do well if you put in the effort.
He is condescending and he is not a person who you would ask a question. He is quite dumb himself and he makes an ass out of himself without knowing it. He has a pop quiz, test, essay or assignment due almost daily. It is much too large of a class load for this class.
he is a good guy, and isn't hard to understand, but he marks insanely hard. if no one else is available i'd still take it from him
I love Romulus. He was a little scary at first, but he's a great guy. Just do your homework and keep up and there will be no suprises. It is a lot of work, but it's worth it. You come out feeling like you learned something. I've had two classes from him and I would take another.
Romulus is a great prof; no surprises on exams, available to help students and marks fairly. He is recommended over several other admn profs. Just keep up with the readings and study.
Expects you to keep up with the material; constant quizzes. Goes over the important points repeatedly though. Accent isn't that bad. Tests are easy, just make sure you can do every mathematical example problem he gives and you're set.

best pro I have ever had.
He really tries his best to make class as interesting as possible. Goes through the important information and doesn't attempt to trick you on exams. Encourages feedback and works to help his class to well.
Great prof! Very clear on requirments and fair marking. Cares about the students success and on of the best profs I have ever had.
Romulus is the man! Such an awesome class, read the text and study the slides and an 85 is well within reach. Great prof and would take a class from him again in a second
Romulus is an excellent teacher and I don't know why his rating is so low. I never even unwrapped my 275 textbook(but that's just me), and this class is 90% common sense! He has a great way of making people understand his concepts.
What a great person! An overall excellent teacher. I recommend him to all. One of the only few that will go out of his way to make sure that you understand the concepts. A++++++
Overall he's OK but I find his exams are a little too long for the time alotted...
Great Professor...he makes a dry subject interesting and you'll find yourself wanting to learn more...Extremely accomodating to students (quiz dates, test format)Super funny and the faster marker you'll ever encounter! Great guy, take a class from him!
Not a bad prof at all. Exams are definitely too long for time alotted, but they are straightforward. He does not try to "trick" you. With a bit more experience he will be a great prof.
He's very amusing although harsh at times, but makes the class interesting and enjoyable. Uses a lot of helpful metaphors so go to class. No assignments, but frequent quizzes force you to learn the material instead of cramming the night before exams, which is really helpful. Taking his clsas ensures you learn the material.
Awesome prof!!
Romulus is a great prof. His tests can be a bit tricky, but overall he is extreamly helpful, and pretty entertaining. I would definately recommend him to a friend.
Romulas trys to trick u on tests. Takes attendance but never uses them for marks or bonus marks at all. Seems pointless to me. He also makes most people nervous because of hi strict up tight attitude.
not too bad
Oh Rommie, hes a good man.
Awesome Guy. Extremely fast marker and genuinly cares about students. He posts everything on WebCT and will go out of his way to ensure you understand the material. Quizzes make sure you know the material and most of the marks for exams and quizzes is for the math questions. Final was tricky but otherwise great prof. Highly recommended!!!
There comes a point when it doesn't even matter how familiar the guy is with the material, how fast he is, or how many cute 'rapport' jokes he tells. The degree to which Cismaru is an inhuman, anal, by-the-book, totalitarian-like, attendance-tracking, name-tag mandatory suit who takes his role WAY too seriously makes the class unbearable.
Pretty much spoon feeds you. Tells you what to study, gives sample questions & midterms. 4 quizzes, 1 midterm. Material is pretty dry so lectures are boring. Marks very fast. Takes attendance, will make you pay attention, hates students doing anything other than listening to him. and what's with the mandatory name tags?
Nice guy, good proff, loves material. Study all 10 formulas in the class like the back of your hand and you will do great and any bulleted or numbered list in the text book. Marks maxi quizes in less than 2 hours the midterm in like 4 hours and had the finals posted within 10 hours of writing them.
Picks favorites; they are the only ones who get "participation marks". Makes you look like an idiot for answering questioins. Rediculously announces the "top grades" of the class and gives them prizes??.. BRUTAL at epxlaining algebraic problems.Quizzes and tests are fine;but he is definatly the biggest **** in the BUS faculty
He's not the easiest prof in the world, but I think half the problem is that the subject matter isn't very interesting.
Terrible prof. Avoid!!!
The class is setup for you to succeed - just attend. He rewards you for the effort you put in. I got a 98% in the class. The structure of the course allows you to keep material fresh in your mind, I didn't study more than 3 hours for the final exam and I got a 96%. He is one of the best profs in the Business program. Great guy!
he is not one of my best prof. Unless you are his favourate, you will have no motivation to go the class. if you have choice, avoid!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this prof.
Avoid him if you can but he is currently the only one teaching 275. He goes off on tangents that aren't relevant and thinks he is funny. He forces you to stay until the bitter end even if it is him telling one of his dumb stories. Is clear as to what will be on tests but tries to trick you on tests. His class is a dictatorship. Avoid!
good prof. his slides and class materials is what is on the tests. no need for textbook. if you go to class prepared you will get a good mark.
He's a cool guy, and a good prof. His powerpoints are contain everything that he puts on the tests, so don't bother buying the textbook, unless you wanna use it for the chapter problems. A fair number of the multiple choice from the example final were on my final. He does seem to have a bit of a superiority complex though...
He's decent but definitely needs some improvements. He has pop quizzes.. and rushes through problems like you've done it before so it's sometimes hard to "stay on the boat". His exams are straight forward - study the slides.. he doesn't use the textbook at all so I would recommend not buying it and saving $140!
Great prof. Uses webct notes. Everything you need is in the notes. Gives lots of examples. Wants you to enjoy the class and he enjoys teaching it so he encourages you to come for help when needed but he teaches it well so extra help isn't needed. He tries to make a dry subject interesting. Highly recommend him.
Romulus is FANTASTIC. He prepares you very well for all of the exams, using lots of practice examples and full explanations while demonstrating. There are a few mini quizzes that are kinda annoying, if you miss them there is no way to make them up but only 2% each. Tests were very fair and he gets them back to you ASAP
He was a good prof, talking funny even without meaning to. The class is easy, you just have to memorize the slides and he tells you what will be on the exams.
Romi was an excellent prof. very clear guidelines and expectation. no need to buy the text as all examples are gone over in class and in slides to know for exams. memorize slides for exams and you'll do amazing. attend class as well as he goes over useful ex's. tests on stuff all year, so your prepared for final. A++++. would def recommend him!!
Very quick at marking exams. I probaly wouldnt take another class with him though. No need to buy the text book all the slides are posted on WebCT.
great guy and prof, super easy class, the quizzes are easiest and are mostly common sense, tests are okay if you read the textbook and memorize the slides. always fast marking - would recommend!
The class was mandatory, but the Prof is a bit on the anal side. Very particular. He likes things his way, all of the time. Better come to class well prepared!
only guy who teaches Bus.275, deal with it. This guy is by the book with everything.
I wouldn't recommend him, apparently there is someone new teaching 275 next semester. Take it with them! Classes are boring, and dare I say useless. I ended up teaching myself most of the content.
Romi is a funny guy, and I must say I am very very impressed with his speed at marking. He seems like he trule wants you to do good. I hated the class, and it being a night class didn't help. I think he is pretty willing to help his students learn. Overall a pretty good guy, and he is kinda funny at times as well.

Not a fan. He is bit of a block head. However, his webct notes are available. You won't do well unless you memorize the slides. He's also anal about late assignments. Meaning, don't even hand in any assignment a min. late, otherwise he won't give you partial marks.
One of the worst proffs I've ever had. Expectations of what to know for exams were rediculous, be prepared to memorize slide after slide after slide... Also, he knows nothing about the subject other than what examples are ALREADY given in the text. For a guy with such great industry experience he was highly disappointing.
Okay, this guy can expect a little much at times, but he is a great teacher. He is as honest and hardworking as a prof can come, and is available for help. Anyone who has real trouble with this class, is a moron, who gives engineers even more ammo to use in making fun of Admin, which is a good faculty, just needs to be weeded out a bit more.
He is one of the most hardworking profs at the U of R. Always prepared and you can expect your marks back within 48 hours(even for the final). A little anal about the HW but each HW is only worth 3% anyways. Expects a lot from the students but I probably learned that class better than any others yet taken.
He is not a bad prof. But somethings he will just tell you really quick and move on and somethings he will say are very important and the things that are gone through quickly are on the tests....I thought I did way better on the exams then I did which I dont understand...gives your tests back quickly and is funny...go to class!!!!! and read text!
He was awful. He was not a good teacher and takes things too seriously. If you want an awkward class where you teach yourself everything -- take this class and don't but the textbook unless your going to do the practice questions (where he takes his short answer from). If you want a good experience, don't.
Romi is a fantastic prof! If you have any problems with the material go and see him. My marks went from mid-60's to 90+! Memorize the slides and buy the text b/c he gets his quiz questions from the end of ch problems. He does everything possible to prepare you for tests. If you have problems with his class you simply aren't putting in any effort!
This class was useless. Anything you learn in this class you learn in HR, MKT, FIN and ACCT. What a waste of money. Class was so easy a chimp could pass it...actually we had a few of those in our class. Speak up to get full participation marks or just ask stupid questions like most people did. And YES, when Revenue=Cost you DON'T make a profit!!!
Okay prof at best. He is anal about assignments, anal about time and anal about who is right...(him). Not very helpful in terms of teaching, the text is your best friend along with the slides. Quizzes aren't that bad but tests can be ambiguous in what he wants you to know. If I could take another prof teaching this class, I would. U of R sucks.
Nice enough as a person.. just don`t have an opinion that differs from him. the class was easy enough though... You don`t really even need to show up except for the days of the quizzes and definitely don`t waste your money on the textbook (his lecture slides rock). Just make sure you understand the example problems at the end of each chapter!
Well prepared. Very particular about everything. Study his slides, do the assignments and practices the problems he does in class and you'll be just fine. Pretty dry material but it's not hard to get a good mark in the class.
This class made me nothing but frustrated. A complete waste of time and when I did attend, which is totally un necessary as he just reads from the slides, I just wanted to leave because he is so boring and mundane. Easy enough class but useless!
horrible. if he doesn't like you he will pick on you all semester. really bad.
In spite of the fact that U of R sucks, This prof turned my final semester into a hell! Do not take it from him. Very anal about time. He is all about the rules. Tough minded, no self consideration. Class material is just boring! slides are provided by the textbook! and he just reads it ! aaah, poor students!
Class was easy and he is very nice. He is very upfront and clear about his expectations from you which is nice because there are no surprises at the end. If you do the assignments and study his lecture notes, you'll do fine. I didn't really have to use the textbook except for one chapter.
Very good prof. Class is easy and expectations are crystal clear. Assignments very simple and examinations predictable. Do the work and you will get an easy 90. I would recommend him totally.
"horrible. if he doesn't like you he will pick on you all semester" and enjoy your lowest mark ever. really bad. He is all about the rules. slides are provided by the textbook and he just reads it ! keep asking questions as Attendance...
He's serious about his subject but if you show up for class and do the assignments is an easy class. He's funny.
The dryest class you will ever take.
He is incredibly knowledgeable. He tells you exactly which calculations you will be tested on. There are not to many so learn them. To study skim text and memorize every list of bulleted points (JUST THE KEY WORD). Make them into study cards and 90+ is easily attainable. If you can not learn a lot from him you should not be in University.
Love this guy!1. funny. 2. dedicated. 3. helpful- goes fast but will help if you need! 4. fair exams. 5. hates technology- will pick on you if you arent paying attention. He genuinly cares about your success. Anyone who doesn't like him is lazy and wants free marks. Yu definitely have to work in this class but for being mandatory it isn't so bad!
Spent alot of time teaching the calculation questions but nothing on multiple choice information. His multiple choice were hard and he put a long answer on the final on content he never once mentioned in class. Also class average was 62% on final.
He is a great professor! Wouldn't take this class from anyone else. Multiple choice are hard but if you do good on the calculation questions you will pass with flying colors. Very reasonable marker and makes class interesting!
He is an OK prof. His classes are = to being forced to listen to Justin Bieber (death). I found his tests to be way out of reality. 40% midterm with crazy crunch time, Multiple choice 2 marks each with 20 of them. You can do good, but you will have to focus on just this class. He is ok but no wonder no one goes on to pursue OM as a carrier.
He's a nice guy, he can be funny. But overall, he is extremely difficult. The multiple choice sections on tests are very hard, and just unfair. He will test only on the difficult material on tests. The class is extremely boring. He will pick on you to answer questions and call you out if you have a cell phone or laptop out. Very unhappy with class.
Great teacher. If you understand the math you will pass. MC are difficult but in the textbook. Practice writing a problem and time yourself and you will be able to finish his exams with ease.
Great prof. Tells you what will be on the test. MC is hard, but in all the slides. Practice problems - DO THEM. Repetition and practice is key. He's very helpful if you go to him for office hours. Takes note that you took initiatiVe for extra help.
Very good Prof. Organized, is clear about what is expected, gives exams/quizzes back next class. Exams timed- be well prepared. Practice problems repeatedly & time self to ensure able to finish exam in time allotted. RHW super study tool w/solutions very clearly laid out. Straightforward prof-no trick questions. Very willing to help. Recommend.
Easy course! if u take it from him. 75% of the course is numerical and 25% theory. for theory just go through slides (MCQ) and for the numerical problems just come to the class and do the questions with him. he will give same exact questions. Nothing tough not a lot of concepts. Only 7 to 8 in all book. Very easy.
His classes are very boring. The only useful part is when he does math examples. Did not use the textbook once. He gives plenty of math examples and the slides are perfect for multiple choice theory. Two quizzes, a midterm and final which are part multiple choice, part long math answers. No talking in class.
Very consistent in his approach to the class. If you do the homework and sample questions, ask questions when things are not clear, you will do fine. Must be organized for the quizz and mid-term as time is generally an issue. Time for the final was fine. Overall I found him to be a very good instructor
Math 60%, and theory is 40% in all his exams including the two quizzes. He spent lots time doing math examples, but the theories are unclear, which makes his multiple choices so hard if you don't read the textbook, his sliders are not too helpful on the theories part either
Straightforward class. Lots of math, memorize the slides before tests. Never bought the textbook. Just used online homework and sample exams and going into the final with an A+. You get from this class what you put into it.
Dont bother with the textbook! MC was all theory and was super hard!!! Come to class and just do good on the math which makes up the majority of the exams.. i would suggest taking the class with someone else...but no one else teaches it at U of R...
Exams are 60% math problems, 40% MC. The MC are straight from the textbook and some were exactly the same as the end of chapter questions. Read the chapters and do the practice problems and you are good to go.
Yes, a lot of math, but its a business course, what do you expect? Great professor, very helpful, and a fun class to take, you can really tell he cares. Stay ahead, and do practice questions, ask questions in class and you'll do great!
Romulus is a great prof! He really care about if you understand the content! He came up to me to thank me for asking questions and participating in class, and encouraged me to continue. There is no participation marks, but I really encourage you to participate and attend all classes because it makes it a lot easier to attain a great mark.
One of the easiest classes i have ever taken, he goes through everything really slow and concise, almost to slow sometimes. read the text book ( it has examples) before the tests and your set.
He is a really great guy, the material is difficult but he will do his best to help you if you ask. I would suggest doing problems from the textbook as I found that helped me allot.
Romulus is a great guy, very funny, but not a great teacher. He is very old school, no hints or help for quizzes, you're on your own. He also believes in students reading the textbook on their own time, then reviewing the material in class and that is why his classes are not mandatory. He may be a good teacher for some but I've struggled.
Romulus is a great guy and a great prof. You need to understand the basics of statistics to grasp the mathematical side of this class. So if you did not do well in statistics then you will not do well in this class unless you get help from romulus during his office hours. If you can understand basic math principles you will do well in this class.
He is a boring and strict person, very old fashioned teaching style. I would rather read the textbook at home but go to the class.
Do not take this class with him! Hard to understand, makes the material way more complicated than it needs to be. If you can avoid him do it!
Strict and old fashioned when it comes to lectures and classes but he is truly concerned about whether students understand the material or not. He gives clear examples. Do the recommended homework and you will be fine!
Romulus is a fine professor, just very old fashioned. Doesn't allow electronic devices. He doesn't answer questions in class very well, lectures are long and boring. There are no assignments, just quizzes and tests. If you do the homework assigned for the numerical questions and study his slides for multiple choice you'll do fine.
Don't take this class with him!
Rom was a really great prof. His lectures were long (night class) and he takes EVERY minute available for his lectures. He is very good at explaining things but you have to guess what he will be testing you on. He gives 2 quizzes (10% each), a midterm (40%) and final exam (40%). You must read the textbook to do well.
I liked Romulus, I thought he was very knowledgeable. You have to pay close attention in the lectures as he moves through the material pretty quickly. It was pretty easy to guess what the long answer questions would be on the exams, but the multiple choice always got me!
This prof have two exams and one TOUGH final. The class is very helpful. I asked other friend who took the class (other prof) also give TOUGH final. so try your best to get mark on midterms. If you have 90% after two exam, then after final exam you may have 78%? haha
Once you figure out Romulus' expectations, the course is very straightforward. The material is not difficult, but as with any mathematics course, it takes a lot of time and practice before you can do well. Do the recommended homework problems and you will be good with 60% of the exam. Multiple choice is challenging, but definitely not impossible.
He is a nice guy but classes were very boring and the tests were okay, he weighs the multiple choice very heavy and its very hard to know what will be on there and he picks very random things you wont use again.. He knows the math stuff and you can tell he enjoys it more because he explains it better.. just not a huge fan but not a bad prof.
Romulus is very nice. He sometimes goes quick in class so pay attention. Definitely do the recommended homework! You only have 2 midterms and a final to get your marks!! If you pay attention and do your homework you will do will. Don't skip questions you don't think he will ask, b/c he will ask them! He is very helpful when you go to his office!
Boring lectures but he explains things very well. He hates technology and forces you to write notes on paper which is unfortunate, but with how well he explains things it's not the end of the world. Would take again.
Romulus is a very knowledgeable man when it comes to OM. He goes through examples very quick so it's important to pay attention. The course consists of 2 midterms and 1 final. He gives useful feedback on exams, and he's very approachable. The class tends to be boring at times but his sense of humor makes it all that better. Highly recommend him.
Romulus is great prof does not try to trick you in any sense. If says it will be on the midterm you better know that stuff. He as two midterms and a final.
simple grading criteria like 2 MTs and a finals but man, this class is tough, I was so lost with the entire class, did not know what was going on . and what he was trying to get us to learn. I understand the quantitative part, however, qualitative stuff are so confusing he focus more on the calc than concepts but exams have MC and know nothing abt
Very organized, class is structured clearly. He spends most of class time on the calculations (which can be good) but his midterms & finals require you to also know a-lot of concept materials. Textbook is not required, but definitely helps when studying for the multiple choice concept questions. All in all a good prof, can be pretty funny as well.
He does not care to help you pass at all! Makes final impossible to pass and the midterms are hard. Multiple choice you'll never pass as they have nothing to do with what he has taught.
Romulus is the best prof for 275. He explains the calculations part very well however you have to understand the theories on your own. Exams were ok but the multiple choice section was challenging. I recommend doing all the practice questions to do well on his exams.
Romulus does a good job explaining quantitative problems. His exam short answer questions are exactly like they are shown in class and are quite easy. He also marks them quite easy. The multiple choice is difficult and may need to be changed. Less abreviations in class would be helpful.
Best professor Ive had. Very professional. He wants his students to do well. If you do all the questions he posts on urcourses you will do very well on the midterms and final exam. Also if you go to his office hours he is very helpful. Its very important to go to class to learn how to do the problems.
The numerical section of the class is well taught, and very easy to grasp by doing the tons of additional questions. Romulus is a nice guy and a fair marker with a very clear outline in the class. Only difficulty is his multiple choice ends up being quite tough.
Romulus puts a heavy focus on the numerical portion of the class, and he teaches it well. The exam questions look very similar to the ones done in class, there will be no surprises. I personally found him to be rather boring though, and that made it difficult to pay attention in class. Multiple choice can be hard, read slides don't bother w/ book.
Great prof. Very nice guy. It is so important to go to class to learn the concepts. Also if you don't understand something, book an office hour with him. It really helps. Midterms and the final were very similar to all the questions he posted.
Romulus is the best!
Romulus is a nice guy but his class material is already diffucult and he makes it worse by teaching it all over the place. He is so anal about details yet writes all over the board and if you look away for second you will be lost for the rest of the class. The class is difficult and he does not make it any easier. He knows his stuff but too difficu
I had to drop this class because there was no way I would pass. He has managed to make the class more difficult in the midst of a pandemic. He is a harsh marker and expected us to complete the second midterm in a short time. Avoid him if you do not need to take this class with him.
He doesnt know how to teach and spent tons of time jiber-jaber during class time. In his first, welcome to listen 1 hour of why he is a great profesor. It is more interesting to listen to Siri than him. Grade students unnecessarily hard so you only get a medium score. Even if you studied well and know everything.
Never had a profesor as quirky as this one. You can work super hard in this class, and his marking will make sure you don't get a great mark. Late response on his email throughout the semester. Exams are designed to be spend lots of time to finish than testing you understanding of the material. Then he limits the time of the exam so you cant finish
Easily the worst professor I've ever had. I learned next to nothing in terms of applicable knowledge. During the crisis, he simply told us to read the textbook and look at examples. He didn't bother to record lectures for the more difficult problems. To top it off he changed the weight of everything we did, to make grading easier. I could go on.
Class is mandatoy. He is very tough but if you work hard, you will do well. Class is very heavy on numbers. Just glance away from the board for a second, and the board will no longer make sense because he writes so much. Great prof overall.
Romulus was a really great professed and I would take a class with him again! His examples he posts are pretty much the exact same as the ones on the exam, just with different numbers. Go to his class and listen to the lectures, study the problems he posts, and you will do great in his class!!
Romulus will teach you a lot and explains the content well during lectures. Be sure to study the practice questions that he posts on URCourses, as they are the exact types of questions on the exams. Simple grading structure, 2 midterms and a final. He is generous with partial marks on the mathematical questions. The MC is based on the slides only.
He was a very nice professor for BUS 275 and BUS 270. Exams were very straightforward. Just do what he posts online and the examples in class. He is also available during office hrs and is willing to help.
I don't get the point of having a 35-35-30 scheme for grading. And on top of that, all of the tests were 1 hour long. Yes, you heard me right, the FINAL was 1 hour long. We had 11 chapters worth of studying, in 1 hour. You can't display your knowledge of the course in whole in one hour. Does not take advice, ever, and gets offended if you do.
Omg don't! Just don't! he had no room for extra grades and didn't even listen to us. Dropped my percentage by a lot.
Romulus is a very nice man who cares about his students. However, his tests are crazy hard. The practice questions he posts are very nice and are great to help you study/understand. His lectures are good. I wish his tests weren't on Proctortrack and that we had quizzes instead of just 3 tests. This class is doable, but don't expect it to be easy.
He's a very nice guy, however, he isn't the best teacher. Sometimes it seems as if he doesn't understand what he's teaching. The midterms are nothing like the problems we do in class. on top of that everything was proctored. there's only 2 midterms and 1 final. if you fail the midterm, you will very likely fail the class
Speaking as a mature student who was also taking 400 level courses in the same semester, this might be the hardest course you will ever take. Romulus comes off nice, but don't expect any help if you aren't doing well in the class. 2 midterms 35-35 final 30. No marked assignments and no feedback. Highly suggest taking this course from another prof.
I really liked Romulus and felt he explained things well. However, with midterms being online you never see what you actually got wrong. You just receive a final grade. I tried Zoom calling with him to go over midterm and he would not say what the answer was. Made it hard to learn from/improve. We had 2 midterms 35% each and a final worth 30%
Midterms 35 + 35 and final 30 no dont take his class. He is a very tough grader and if u fail the midterm you will fail the course. You wont get to review your exams. He wont post the solutions. Class average was low. He wont curve your grades.
Mr. Cismaru cares about his students' success and mental well-being. He was very open about exam format, how Proctortrak was going to be used, and how to be successful on the exams. Problems and most solutions available online, and he welcomed questions. The pressure of 1 hour for a final exam was a little much, but that's why the midterms are 35%.
Poor course planning. 3 midterms no assignments and no final. If u fail midterms u fail the course. Exams are very tough and lengthy. He is a very tough marker. Doesnt care if most of the class is failing the exams.
Terrible prof. Would not recommend to anybody. He does things his own way and makes it more complicated than it needs to be. Hated listening to his lectures. Tests are difficult. Took the course during covid so maybe he is better in person but terrible online.
I'm sure Romulus is a nice guy but he's an awful professor. His teaching is so chaotic and hard to follow along with that it's actually painful. He developed this course in the early 2000s and clearly hasn't changed a thing since. Making tables & graphs by hand? To scale? Does he not know Excel exists?? I can't believe this course is mandatory.
Terrible professor, teaching methods are outdated and exam weights are garbage. Do not take this class with this professor. Does not care about his class average or students well-being and has too much pride to try and change or help anyone in anyway.
Romulus is not good at teaching. His lecture was in a mess. Examination marking was ridiculous because, for 30 marks calculation question, he only needed the final answer. Therefore, supporting calculations are not counted for marks.
2 midterms and a final for a class with this much information is actually ridiculous it's not even funny. There's zero assignments, quizzes, bonus marks, NOTHING -- just the exams. And the exams are TOUGH, harder than any calculus or stats exam. Also, Romulus is the only professor that teaches this mandatory course so you have no alternative lol
Two midterms and a final, weighted 30%-30%-40%. Plenty of extra material for you to practice on your own, and the prof would gladly help you with it during office hours. Read the textbook before the lecture, his teaching makes a lot of sense and helps you know what to do. However, the concept stuff is mostly in the textbook, so study that well.
This class is ridiculous. Two midterms and one final (30, 30, 40). Gives lots of homework questions but the answers are outdated so, you have no idea whether or not you are doing it right. Lots of information to learn and lectures are rushed to cram information. Loves to say "This is easy." Unforuntanetly this is the only professor, good luck!
The class is difficult, but you really do get what you put into it. Dr. Cismaru may get put on a tough scale but he does want you to succeed and make you a better student. Is it difficult course material? Yes. Every class he asks " any questions?" if you just asked questions, it would be a lot easier. He is a good guy and a good prof.
Worst professor in U of R. Don't care about student. He expect the student to be like a machine. Very very very hard to pass the class
DON'T TAKE THIS PROF NEVER EVER IN MY LIFE EVER TAKING HIS CLASS AGAIN.
Worst class ever, especially with this prof. Super hard grading, strong accent, nice guy but not when it comes to academic stuff, goes buy too fast. Best thing to do is read the textbook and do the questions that are in the text before the class. To prepare for the 3 exams, do the extra material he posted for each chapter.
I have done well in all of my university math courses, yet I'm doing terrible in this class - as are all the peers that I've talked to. Every time you write an exam and you leave thinking you did great- expect 20-30% less than you deserve. The material is useless and outdated by 20 years, lectures are dry, and the topics are overcomplicated.
I'm not sure why there are such poor reviews. He is a great prof! Clearly explains the material with lectures that include examples similar to ones that will become questions on the exam. Allows students to ask questions and answers them with compassion. I'd take his class again any day!
I pretty much ignored all the theory stuff he taught in the class (there's just way too much to remember) and just focused heavily on the math aspects. If you do the same, you can finish with a pretty decent grade as well, as his exams are 75% math. If you have done Math103 this class will be relatively easy in comparison, really not that hard.
A lot of people are hard on Romulus but he knows his stuff. Have to make appointments to see your test, but overall gives extra marks where he can. His tests are fair and challenge your knowledge. Study hard and look over the practice examples and you'll do fine in the class.
Dont buy the textbook for 275, not used once. I know a lot of people dislike him but i found him pretty good, lectures are solid and does good examples that help with the exams. midterms and final exam are pretty tough, definitely a class you should study alot for.
I did not have as poor of an experince as many of these reviews would make you think you would have. Everytime I asked Romulus questions he always gave a clear answer, but the class material just gets very boring in certain chapters, you're better off just focusing on the math. Overall just a fine prof.
A lot of people give Romulus a bad review, but I actually enjoyed his class/teaching style. For a course that is heavy quantitative material, he provides lots of practice questions so you can go into the exams feeling confident, and he is very clear with what he expects of students on exams. He is also very helpful in/outside of class.
He only gives 2 exams and a final with no assignments, but he provides more practice questions than most other professors I've had and is often very clear about what will be on the exams. The material can sometimes be tough but if you focus more on the math rather than the theory you are sure to do well as that's where most of the marks come from
Romulus is a good prof who does care about his students. He always answers questions and is willing to help students. If you want to do good in this class you need to study! 15 Hours minimum a midterm will get you passing this class. DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS! Romulus provides so many practice problems and exams are based on them! Simply work hard!
Romulus is a great guy, but his class is based solely on 2 midterms and 1 final. He provides lots of practice problems to prepare for these.
Romulus has an outdated style of teaching and uses material that are 20+ years old. Instead of teaching true OM concepts, he gives lengthy numerical questions that you will not receive marks on unless the entirety of it is correct. I would suggest finding an alternative way to take this class if you are looking to learn about Operations Management.
Romulus' class is all about preparing for the exams. Lots of practice problems and clear explanations make it manageable if you put in the work. unstuck ai was a great study aid alongside the textbook.
I have never been on this site. I never needed to check on a prof before registering, some are good, some are okay, doesn't really matter to me that much, I did decent. but he is soo awful I had to rate him just to warn people about him. He's very dry and his classes are super boring. Super difficult to concentrate!!
He's just extra, he has fixed seating in class and during exams he will setup randomized seating and will have separate sets of exams. He will make a huge fuss about the seating arrangement and still move you around for some reason. He's just a mess. He's like the substitute teacher from middle school, not University material.
Dont recommend at all. His class is an absolute nightmare!!
Learning❌ Sufferings✔️
He will randomly pick you and ask you questions and he will keep on drilling you, doesn't matter if you already said you don't know the answer. Then he'll ask you why you don't know the answer, and he'll ask you to open your notes. Super lame, I know! It gets very awkward and embarrassing for everyone in class.
I think he gets a bad rep. Romulus was always willing to answer any questions or meet for office hours, which was helpful. Exams are tough with a lot of material to memorize but are identical to PQ. Do study theory stuff for MCQ. The material isn't thrilling theory, but he provides what you need to excel. This isn't Bus 100, don't expect a free 90%
do not skip if you do you wont pass, whole class is on the book study it like it is the end of the world. you only get 2 midterms and 1 final for your grade so you cant make a mistake.
Good prof but I took the class at 8:30 and that made the class absolutely horrible. I recommend focusing on the math mostly and just completely disregarding the theory, doing this got me 77 and 78 on the midterms. Overall, Id take the class again just not so early in the morning.
As a person, he is wonderful and always ready to answer your questions. Course material is not too bad if you really engage yourself. Exam materials however can be a bit too much, and sometimes difficult to finish within the allotted time. If you study hard you will pass but do not expect high marks.
He is a kind, smart professor, and is willing to help students. However, he has made BUS 275 harder than it should be, and for no reason. Instead of learning the material, I feel like I'm just memorizing formulas and copying his endless solutions to pass the exams. I didn't learn anything and would probably have a mere passing grade on top of that.
He is a good guy, but he is not an effective professor. Lectures can be helpful though. When it comes to his teaching methods, it's really outdated and there's just too much unnecessary work. Graphing to scale, and a bunch of formulas that needs to be memorized. You probably won't even need them in real life. Everything reflects poorly on exams.
I dont recommend u guys take his class. Even he didnt show the answer or the midterm exam back :D
Underrated professor, just attend all the lectures, pay attention, read the chapters, do the practice questions and you will do great in the class. If you fail his class, its your fault.
Nice guy, make sure you read the textbook, attendance is taken but his lectures are pretty much just him reading the textbook. Lots of personal anecdotes. Marks decent, ended the class with an 80%. studying is necessary though. Really nice guy though.
Genuinely shocking this guy is still a professor. Doesn't care about his students. Comes to class angry and ready to go home. Makes class infinitely harder then it should be because he is so terrible at teaching rudimentary topics. No pride in what he does. Needs to retire. Terrible professor with a terrible personality, avoid at all costs
Operations Management isn't an easy class but he doesn't make it any easier. Class was based off two midterms and a final. On a exam he wouldn't give partial marks and teaches very fast. My advice is go to every lecture and don't fall behind.
Slides were just the textbook so class was pointless. Took attendance . 2 midterms and a final. 3 or 4 long answer questions 15-20 marks each and 20 MC. Final was easier than midterms. Not much intel about what would be on them you just have to memorize everything. No group project which was nice. Doesn't hand midterms back, have to meet with him.
Not sure why he has so many negative reviews, super caring guy and genuinely wants you to succeed. Not a super easy class but a good grade is definitely attainable. Don't buy the textbook and go see him after the midterms to understand where you went wrong. UNDERRATED!
He was a very hard prof for a 100 level delivered course. His class consists of 2 midterms and a final. Midterms had 2-3 long answer questions that were worth 20-25 marks. The long answers had like 6 questions built into one, so if you didn't understand the first part you can't answer the rest of it leading to 20 marks off the exam. Don't recommend
Can be a bit monotone at times, but he is a good teacher, do need buy a textbook but it's very helpful.
Super nice professor, 2 mid terms and a final. Easy to reach outside of class. Just show up and pay attention.
The first midterm without numerical problems are relatively easy to score. Be ready to solve a lot of MCQS and read the textbook twice if you want to get a good score. A lot of chapters covered in a single exam. Class participation matters too.
Class is two midterms and one final so not much room for error. No intel on what topics would be covered on exams basically read the textbook front to back. He does communicate the material clearliy though. All and all just an average prof nothing special.
