This is a weird guy. He giggles to himself. The exams are hard as hell. However, you will do well on the assignments.
Laughs, giggles for no reason. Sounds friendly, easy going, but very tough on exams. Like to give out C alot.
the guy is a good teacher, easy going and always happy...i thought the course was a breeze and all you need to do is study...i really enjoyed him laughing all the time, better then yelling!
The worst professor ever. I mean it. STUPID group prest'n worth 30%. He will easily ride on peoples nerves by laughing at his own jokes every few minutes. His powerpoints only outline things from the textbook. He does not talk about or expand the points. Download powerpoints, study textbook, AT HOME
+ he's a nice guy - goes to fast in lecture - doesn't deal with the text much - gives us somewhat useless anecdotes - marking scheme is extremely questionnable
Really friendly and tries hard to make the class fun. The midterms are extremely hard!
This is the second class I have him for, first one being 2600. Not a bad guy at all, yes his jokes get annoying at times but he is very approachable and is willing to help you out if need be. If possible I would take a third class with him as well.
really nice prof, but the exams are HARD...must pay attention to details. Classes may be boring at times...or maybe it's just the material but overall, he'll try to help you understand the concepts and really friendly!
He is fine. if you do the work; creative in your presentation and have decent writing style - you'll do fine !
I think I would rather have Marylin for this course. The course is useless anyways, but Marylin is a much more generous marker.
totally useless prof for this subject if u ask me cause I learned NOTHING useful and he is a creepy dude. I agree with the last post about Marilyn as she was excellent in my other HR course and actually teaches something and comes to class prepared
i had him three semesters in a row .....he is a little weird tru ...laughs at his own jokes, looks like robin williams ..an uglier version , stuff is really easy, hard marker when it somes to assignments ...loves presentations where there is class involvement ....exams are complicated tho ....

Actually, this prof is great, if you attend every lecture and participate by putting up your hand to answer questions you would get 9-10% for participation mark. The good thing about him is that he gave extra three marks to everyone on the mid-term exam.
Ron, is very good at what he does, and has a real pulse of the HR industry, so boys and girls, pay close attention to his examples in class, it can help you to develop your critical and strategic thinking. If you're a mature student you will appreciate his wisdom and knowledge of the content. Again Ron, is a great Professor.
If there was even a Robin Williams Look-alike Ron is up there among the best.. His "Jumanji" style teaching methods are all off the hizzy. Only wish he would leave his corny jokes out of his lectures and keep to the point. Ron, you want to be Robin but your jokes are more like Batman..Sock Pow, Wham!
Worst prof i've had at York
I think he was a good prof, a little to cheesy on the jokes but overall very understanding and clear. Did not need to attend class, I found exams really easy, but I studied the textbook front to back and studied his slides. I recommend him.
I do not recommend this Prof whatsoever. The previous comments by users are exactly true. Although I have an average grade and my friends have all good grades as well, we all agreed on the same thing. Ron cannot teach! 1. Jokes too much 2. Uses useless examples 3. Poor time management - whizzes through the slides and does not offer clarity!
Hate HR because of him. The book was much helpful than his lectures. Do not take his class!!!
The exams are very hard. If you can understand everything he says in class and know the entire textbook then you might be able to do well.
hard to get good marks that pretty much sums it up
if you enjoy working really hard and maybe doing well afterwards this is prof for u
it's just hard to do well in this class for some reason, maybe it's hard to absorb his teaching methods
This prof is smart for sure, has in-depth knowledge in HR. I got a B+ in his class, But! Be prepared to read textbook all the time and write scenario-based exams as he is really vague. He jumps around and doesn't explain material well. I found him discouraging as he keeps saying that HR is basically a dump even though he is in this industry.
I swear I knew my stuff for the exam, so I dont know how I finished with this low mark.
Very easy exams and even easier (if somewhat time-consuming) assignment. Can be kind of boring - spent too much time going on about what's happening in the world for my liking. But covered all of the slides as well. You still need to skim through the book though, because the slides don't cover everything in it that might appear on an exam.
apparently im not the only one that is wondering why their mark is lower than expected. he sucks.
he doesn't suck, he just does not know how to teach. he is knowledgeable though.
this class made me have second thoughts about the HR field.
This class is boring and he doesn't know how to teach. The book is hard to understand and confusing. The prof. is not helpful at all, when you ask him a question, he doesn't give a clear answer. For example, when you ask him to clarify something, he would actually make you even more confusing. Don't recommend to take this course. horrible!
This guy is boring and he laughes at his own joke. And dunt go to class coz ur not gunna understand anything and will have to read the book either way.
he knows his stuff, but doesn't know how to teach students
hard material and he makes it even more dry.
so this teacher is not great at teaching at all, the midterm was HARD because i didn't know how he marked, he wants you to elaborate on things, and have the broader idea, so i did awful in the midterm, but the 15% reflection helped and most ppl got good marks den i worked really hard for the final so ended up with a C, if u elaborate u'll do fine
Terrible Prof, don't bother attending class he just talks about random things that you don't even need to know for the class, just study from the book. Allocates way too much of your mark to group work, which isn't fair b/c it brought may mark down by a lot.
This is honestly the worst prof I've ever had. I agree with everyone who says he is bad, cause its especially frusterating to sit in his class and watch him use the wrong slides. Its not uncommon for him to be on one slide while he gives some completely unrelated examples. Do not take this prof, really low class average and retention rate.
Ron isn't that bad, he's boring, but he follows the textbook. All u have to do is study from the book, his exams are kind of easy, all his exam questions are very straight forward. You can get a good mark if you just study all the chapters from the book.
his classes r extremely boring n useless no use attending. just study frm the txtbk, elaborate answers on midterm/final. i wouldve got an A if it wasnt for a huge chunk of my mark allocated to the group project..which involves a skit...its pretty dumb. i don't think hes a very hard marker though.
His classes are EXTREMELY boring. Attending this class was an absolute waste of time. I often left half way through the class. His exams are not that hard. He is a pretty fair marker. The text book for this class is really good, one of the best that I've read. Very easy read. This class was not bad at all. Just read the text & slides & you're fine.
Horrible professor. Extremely boring lectures. Does not give relevant examples, rants about his life and experience the majority of the time. Hard marker. Expects you to memorize EVERYTHING in the textbook for midterms. Large portion of your grade dedicated to group project and 15 page paper. Avoid at all costs.
This professor makes me want to gouge my eyeballs out. He is extremely boring, makes irrelevant examples that are inappropriate at times, and laughs at his own jokes which are NOT remotely funny. He reads off slides, doesn't encourage participation. Vague answers when responding to student questions. AWFUL PROF.
Not the most interesting prof., but definitely one of the most knowledgeable ones. Ron DOES tend to go off topic a lot of the times and provide irrelevant examples, so it is your responsibility to read the textbook. Overall, he's a fair marker and very nice!
A very knowledgeable prof and his exams are fair.
I thought he was a good professor overall. Participate and ask ron questions when in doubt!!
Ron is a HR professional who should stick to his consulting work. I'm sorry but he can't teach even though he is nice guy. He likes to pick favorites when marking for participation in class and is the kind of prof who reads of the slide for 3 hours. Instructions for assignments are very vauge and he is very textbook driven on exams/midterms.
Useless lectures and no guidance. Tests are also very hard.
I use to fall asleep all the time haha (boring!). The lectures did not help me for the tests at all.
He knew what he was saying and draws his past experience to the class which is was great. Make sure you participate and add value to the discussions about cases/articles!
Got an A in his class. He has a lot of consulting experience in hr and shares it with the class which is good. His lectures are heavily based on textbook readings.
I found he was no help and come to his class was a waste of my time.
His exams arent that challenging at all in my opinion. Study from the book and theres your easy A :) Having him as your instructor would mean more independent studying because hes not very helpful
His exams are easy if you study from the textbook. I stopped attending his classes since he didnt add much value to the lectures and still ended up with a good grade. I dont know why a small number of people here are complaining that his tests are hard. Easy A
I am currently sitting in his class right now and he is the most boring person in the world! He's lecture is not organized and he just starts laughing hysterically out of no where.
Nice professor. Had him last semester, and thought he was easy going. Exams are not that hard at all, no surprises. You need to drop out if you find his exams hard. Usually its the people that do poorly in the class that complain.
Exams & journal entry that you provide has to do more with quantity over quality. My writing I include all the important aspects and provide exams - essentially I'm direct. He likes you to have flourish writing and elaborate on every aspect as if you are talking to an idiot. NO TEACHING EXPERIENCE always goes off topic and none sense of charisma
I'm not sure why any of you guys gave him bad reviews. His midterm and final exams are all based on his slides, no textbook reading. As long as you know the concepts in each week slides, you can get an easy A. He also explains things more better in class, and he has helped me get an A.
Really nice man and it is really easy to get an A from him. Hope to take more courses with him .
The exams are absolutely easy if you can memorize his slides.
He's a really nice professor, fair exams and fair marker. Tells you exactly how to prepare for all assignment and exams.
Cool teacher, somewhat funny. Exam is very easy just memorize the slides he marks very fair.
not very useful, but easy to get good scores.
His laugh omg..... Looks like the guy in the heat who is the albino. He gives mark easily and teaches decently.
go to lecture and you will be fine,
Prof A. lectures are dry. It's funny because this is a Training and Development class yet his approach to the online section does not reflect so. He refers to his personal experience which isn't relevant to everyone or is confusing. Buy the book and read it yourself. The slides are useless if you don't understand the material thoroughly.
I stopped attending class as it was a waste of my time. Ron talks in circles and leaves you confused. I recommend buying the textbook and teaching yourself, that's what I've had to do.
Professor Alexandrowich exudes a positive energy in his lectures that make coming to class much more enjoyable. He seems like a happy person who is content with who he is. Lectures were clear. He is likeable, quirky, and always smiling and laughing. He is approachable and his lectures inspire you to be better, as a person, and as a leader!
I think he is great prof with with thorough industrial background.
Ron is a super cute quirky little old man. He is a lenient and fair marker. Lectures typically take full 3 hours - it gets a bit dry but he tries to be funny. He loves role plays and marks presentations easy. His exams are usually long-answers.
Really good prof. and tells you what to study for both midterm and final. Gives feedback but does not have office hours.
BEST PROFESSOR!! Hilarious guy. Participation matters as it is 25% of your grade. Incorporates various in class discussions and activities. The textbook for the course costed $400+, HOWEVER, the textbook wasn't necessary for the course, just study off his slides. He also provides a study guide for the exam. Highly recommend taking his courses.
Instructor went off topic many times which made it hard to keep track of the actual class content. He spoke like a person who has given the same talk so many times, and never really went into the material to the depth required. He contradicted his own handout materials. Please take a minute to prepare a proper lecture & materials.
Definitely one of the better profs I've ever had. He knows his material and explains it fairly well. My only critique is at times he gets a little quiet or laughs randomly. As long as you are prepared to study the very easy material you can easily do well.
Being the only online course I took this semester I had concerns about it. However, it turned out much better than I expected because Professor Alexandrowich was exceptional in teaching the material and helping students as much as he could. Although the course was disrupted due to COVID-19, he made accommodations to ensure our success in the course
Ron is an amazing Professor. He is so understanding and does not make this course difficult. He marks you very fairly and his exams are not tough at all - just thoroughly review the textbook. Ron is well educated and knows exactly what he is talking about. I recommend taking this course with him!
This is the second time I've taken a class with this prof and I will definitely do so in the future if its a possibility. Just do the work and study, you'll get an easy A.
He is a easy marker for the paper but watch out for his exams. He usually has 4 long answer questions, each worth 25%. 1/4 questions is on something that was not in the lecture or slides but was in the book, so unless u want to get tops 75% on your exam (assuming u answered every other exam question perfectly), reading the book is a must with him
Ron is one of the most genuine professor I've come across. He genuinely cares about his students & actually wants them to learn the real-world of HR instead of just what's in the textbook. Use the time he provides to ask him for feedback on projects!
He was the best TA on the whole entire planet! Ron really made learning and discussing the material so much fun! I am so thankful to have ended up in his tutorial.
Exam questions are worded in such an unclear manner. Lectures go off-topic and are longer than they need to be. Take this class online for your own sanity.
His teaching style is... unique, he tries to make jokes but they just don't land. If you need to take this course, take it online because the lectures can be long and hard to sit through. He also doesn't prepare you well for the exam. He goes over some concepts in lots of detail but skip over others, but the exam could cover anything so be ready.
The exams are extremely difficult and poorly worded. It is also difficult to prepare for the exam because only a few major topics are covered in class, but the ones that are skipped over get put on the exam. Very tough grader, with unclear expectations. Feedback is clear, but it is useless after an exam.
If you stumbled on this prof on Visual Schedule Builder, take it online or with a different prof. He does group role plays, and you are actually graded on your acting and script writing ability. Both the midterm and final exams are just short answer questions, with no clear grading criteria. The exam feedback does not even match the questions. Run!
One of the worst profs I have had. The lectures were slow and would begin with 20 mins of small talk, introductions, and personal anecdotes. Also an insanely hard marker. Exams were short answer questions and open book, if you leave out any minor details you would lose marks, but if you copy the textbook too much it's plagiarism and a zero.
I seriously regret taking this prof. If you have other options take it. If you do not need the course, do not take it with this prof. The lectures barely cover the chapter material, yet you get tested on everything and marked for every little detail. His expectations for assignments are unclear and his feedback makes no sense. Avoid at all costs!
Got York'd by this prof because he wasn't even on the Visual Schedule Builder, it showed a different prof, but first day of class this prof shows up and it's too late to switch. He makes you do role plays in groups which other sections do not have to do. It's a serious waste of lecture time, and if other group members can't perform you lose marks.
I absolutely LOVE the jokes and personal stories he spends a third of the lecture on. However, I would prefer if he could prepare us for exams instead of making his expectations as unclear as possible. Lost marks for "not enough detail", well should I just copy and paste the textbook with the exact answer the question is looking for? You can't win.
I took his IHRM course this summer. He is an amazing professor with an outstanding background. I found his name through HRPA. I did not do well on the midterm which was all essay questions. He asked us to write a research paper which was a lot of work too. But I learned a lot throughout the course. If you care about the material he rewards it.
I got a good grade, but I would prefer not to take this professor again bc he's a hard marker. Essays are expected to be at least 12 pages, and the exams are all long answer based. However, he is amenable to giving extensions when needed. His tests were open book, but that doesn't mean that they are that easy- only 6 ppl got an A mark in our class
no useful instruction during lecture, very strange grade standard, u get 0 if he doesn't like u, especially if u are minorities ethics. right wing person, racist.
He isn't as bad as everyone is describing him. I understand his lectures are very long and I mostly studied from the textbook and ended up with a B+. If you study hard and make notes you will be fine. The exam has long questions and answers but you will do great if you study well. When it comes to giving deadlines he is nice and provides deadlines.
Not a hard class but you definitely don't learn anything at all from his classes. You learn from the slides and his lectures are not related. He talks about his life and how this is a hobby for him. He is a bully but due to his age and the way he does it, it seems harmless. He doesn't even care about giving HR content. A nonsense APA course.
Not a hard class , but the professor is ineffective. For someone who has worked in human resources for most of his life , he is really bad at communicating what is expected of you regarding assignments or exams. If you have to take the course , please choose another professor if possible for your own sanity .
Lectures are long but worth attending. Textbook is a must to do well on exams. unstuck AI was a game-changer for exam prep - helped me stay organized and ace the long answer questions.
Genuinely one of the worst profs I have come across. His lectures are borderline irrelevant to the content of the course. The exams are a complete mystery because everything we go over in class, including his personal anecdotes are not on the exam. If you get York'd by getting this prof, drop or switch sections. Run!
Save yourself and avoid him at all cost. Never have I came across a prof who was so dismissive towards his students. Gives low grades with very simple feedback. Never communicates what will be on the exam, just "don't use external resources, you will get a 0" You will have to teach yourself from the textbook as his lectures are useless.
He's got hell of stories to tell, if you like listening to old men, he's the best, but I don't see reasons of doing so in university. so good luck.
tough grader, very rude and dismissive.
Assignments r easy but omg he's such a tough grader, no one in his class got more then an 84. He's old n makes unfunny jokes every few seconds and its so awkward, and hes always going off topic to tell his life story. His presentations r useless, so u need to listen to what he says in class but its lowkey impossible bcs he yaps so much. 99% yap fr
The course content itself was manageable; however, the instructor was a tough grader and provided minimal feedback, even when assignments met the rubric requirements. Many people struggled to get over an 80.
This professor was extremely inconsistent and unclear. He graded harshly even when we followed his sample paper and instructions exactly. He often contradicted himself and seemed unprepared, making the course confusing and stressful. I do not recommend him.
This is one of the worst profs I've had so far. His lectures are terrible, and he doesn't even talk about the course, he talks about his personal life as if that gets us the grade... If I had read these reviews before I would've simply just take this course online. Save yourself and either take this online or find a different prof!
