He teaches my false doctrine class. This is the second test I've taken from him, and he still hasn't improved. He tells us things that aren't even true. And he's totally inconsistent. One minute he'll tell us who's going to hell; the next not to judge.>
I love Brother Anderson's classes. He's one of the best religion teachers I've ever had. He makes things all make sense so you can understand them.
No matter what he teaches in religion, you are in for a treat. dive deep into the scriptures because he provides a lot of interesting info you never knew. grading is based upon reading, honesty, daily (easy) 5 Question quiz, and a final 5 page paper.

Just a super nice guy. Is very interested in the person you are. And is super helpful. You just have to go and talk to him.
One of the best religions teachers I have ever had. I greatly enjoyed him and the time I spent in his classes.
I think he is my favorite teacher so far at this school. His classes are mostly discussion in which he makes sure that you understand everything that you read. If you have any questions, you feel comfortable enough to ask it in class. Very easy too- small daily quizes and easy papers for mid-term and finals. Wonderful guy!
This guy is great. If you're looking for some one who lets the spirit guide the class and is extensivly knowledgeable about docterin, this is your man!

I really enjoy Bro. Anderson's classes. He really knows his stuff and you can tell he loves what he does. I have taken Book of Mormon from him and am now in his Doctrine and Covenants class. I learn so much from him and I actually want to do my reading.
you only have to do two papers; a mid term and a final and then a quiz each day that are really simple!! best class i ever took

I love Brother Anderson! He is very knowledgable in the doctrine of the church and the scriptures. But he never makes you feel stupid if you don't know an answer. Small quiz every day (D&C), very easy if you do the reading. I feel the spirit every day in his class. Really great man!
He is one of the best teachers I have ever had, the kindest most spirtual religion teachers i have ever had
I loved this class. The first few minutes of class he had 4 students get up and give insights they had. Then he would present anything else he felt was important. I learned a lot in this class and it was really neat to get insites from such a variety of people. I didn't feel like it was a difficult class, but I learned a lot.
A great class, wonderful insights. The only qualms I have about the course is that at the beginning of class 4 people share their insights, which can be interesting, but often it takes up a great deal of time, and I'd rather hear Bro. Anderson's insights and not other people's personal takes on the gospel.
Bro. Anderson is a great spiritual teacher. He presents doctrine that helped me everyday. It is quite an easy class if you just read the reading assignments before you go. I loved this class, helped me so much everyday. Take it, you won't be disappointed.
Very great teacher who does an excellent job helping students understand and progress in their understanding of the gospel. I wish that students would have a smaller role at the beginning of class and more focus on the lecture.
He did not clarify when he was leaving the solid footing of reviled truth for his own interpretations of things and that is a real problem for me. If you feel religion professors can do no wrong and you like writing papers boosting your professors self image about what HE has taught you, take the class.
He doesnt explain what he wants and he preaches to much of his own doctrine.
Awesome teacher - loved his way of having the class teach the class - and talking about issues that were relevant to us - felt like he had our learning as his foremost objective.
Pretty cool teacher. Nothing extraordinary, but he wasn't bad. He told neat stories from his life. If he didn't know the answer to a question, he admitted it. I really liked that in him. He's fairly easy too. Good guy. :)
DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS! I hated it - It was very boring doing the same exact thing each class. He doesn't start the class with song and prayer...he does it in the middle. That makes sense. He has too much student sharing time, I could care less about people's personal "insights". He also preaches HIS OWN DOCTRINE!
I enjoyed the class some days, but other days it was kind of a bust. He let too much class discussion go on and never geared it in any sort of way. I just wanted more knowledge and less opinion.
He was probably my favorite religion teacher at BYU-Idaho so far. His classes were always special. We always started with a song and prayer, too. Bro. Anderson really knows how to invite the Spirit of God into his classroom. Very inspiring, practical, and meaningful class. Loved it. Very easy. He truly cares about our understanding of the doctrine.
Wow, brother anderson was one of my favorites! the bom class was so spiritual and i learned so much in every class! he is very knowledgeable in what he teaches. take his class!
There are quizzes every day, based on the reading and the questions can sometimes be very difficult. Manual reading is mandatory, as is scriptural reading=lots of hw! The mid term and final are very easy. Very knowledgeable, loved the Hebrew insights, he is fluent. Overall, Brother Anderson was great, my husband and I took a few classes from him.
The Spirit isn't invited into his class very often. Personal experiences or spiritual inspiration is not appreciated. He goes by the book, dates, places, times, events. He doesn't get what it's really trying to teach us he focus' only on what exactly the words say and their are daily quizes for it too. Testimonies; never shared, never appreciated
My favorite Religion teacher at BYU-Idaho. Everything he does is the best you can find on campus.
He is a really good teacher, very knowledgeable. He's very easy all you have to do is read and take the quizzes. You have two papers, one for midterm and one for final. I really enjoy his class.
Bro anderson is an average teacher at best. sometimes seems like he's more interested in letting us know he knows hebrew than teaching. likes to teach doctrines that aren't clear, "forgets" to remind about mid-term papers.
the BEST teacher in teh religion department! i learned more from him in one class period than five semesters with all the other crap teachers in the religion department. if you are ready to actually learn something, take him. his picture is a little creepy, but he is better looking in real life :) take him though! BIG TIME! THE BEST!
He is awesome. Cares about you as a student and goes into depth about the gospel. Def take his class!
Fantastic, knows his subject matter, kind, genuine, caring, would highly recommend him as a teacher to all.
boring!
An awsome teacher, he made sure that everyone understood what he was talking about, and explained things very well. Daily quizes are easy if you read the scriptures assigned. Midterm and Final were easy to.
going into Old Test I wasn't excited at ALL. Bro Anderson is extrememly knowledgable about all books of scripture, and he explains things so well. This is what u have to do to get an A: come to class 2. he reuqires you to share something you learned at least 3 times 3. write a 5 page double spaced paper for the final on what you learned
Brother Anderson is not just a Book of Mormon teacher, he is a gospel doctorines teacher. I have learned so much from this class because of him. I like that our mid-term and final have been writing assignments... I don't do as well with tests so this has been nice.
Amazing. I wish I could take all my religion classes from him. He goes really in depth too. He made me love the D+C!
Brother Anderson may not be a perfect man, but he only asks us to do the normal things like read the scriptures and the manual (though it may take a while to do toward the end). He lets us share our opinions and follows the learning model very well and uses a lot of Gen. Auth. quotes. Knows Hebrew.
Brother Anderson is absolutely, hands down, THE BEST teacher I have ever had. He teaches with the Spirit, is genuine, sincere, caring, and knows what he is talking about! He teaches with the Spirit and loves what he teaches. The discussions, his testimony, his classes CHANGED my life for the better! I love him! Take any class you can from him!
If you are going for the easy A, take him, but be warned you are stepping back into 9th grade seminary. I seriously felt like I was back in Jr High in his class. Most of the time I laughed to myself when he talked, it was like he was teaching primary aged children. He is a REALLY good guy though, just should teach seminary, not institute.
Brother Anderson the best religion teacher at this campus hands down. i have had 3 classes from him and am registered for my 4th. Not a lot of busy work and no dumb assignments, just plain good teaching! Love his classes!
BEST TEACHER EVER! This was his 1st time teaching family history and it was aweomse! i have never felt the spirit so much in a classroom (including seminary)! Reawakened me, and gave me so much insight. Helped me with my personal history outside of clas! He is awesome take him!
What an amazing teacher! Just do the reading and participate in class and your set. He worked with me to bring up my A- to an A. He really teaches by the Spirit and really made my first semester a great one!
I love this teacher! Best religion teacher I have had at this school. He speaks Hebrew which really helps when studying the scriptures. Definitely a teacher you must take before you graduate.
You are required to read the scriptures and from the manual. In class quizzes everyday over the reading, which you grade yourself. There are two papers the entire class. Which are the mid-term and the final, which you are allowed to pick the topic. Bro. Anderson speaks Hebrew which helps. Def. a teacher to take!
Brother Anderson is a wonderful teacher. He teaches by the Spirit, and genuinely cares about everyone in class. He answers our questions and is knowledgeable of the scriptures. I can feel the Spirit in class.
He's very good! I enjoyed the class a lot. The Spirit was strong in class, and I learned a lot. I had the class once a week, so there seemed to be a lot of reading, but other than reading, there isn't any homework other than reading the scriptures and manual. And a midterm and final. Lots if class participation.
I really loved this class. He loves using quotes in class discussions that are always so good. He's knowledgeable and it was easy to get an A, but I felt like I learned a lot, and could apply so much to myself. I just like the way he runs his class.
Really enjoyed this class because of Brother Anderson. He is a great teacher, willing to answer any questions. He knows a lot about the Scriptures and brings them to life. Very funny and entertaining.
Very dull class. Instead of learning for yourself you learn his idea of what the church should be and how you should follow the teaching of the scriptures his way. Your ideas are not welcome if he does not approve. I failed the midterm because he didn't like my views. Quizzes every day-random questions you'd never guess. Has a sense of he's perfect
Brother Anderson is my favorite Book of Mormon teacher. He teaches in a way that invites the spirit, and he teaches the principles you can learn from the Book of Mormon instead of just the stories. I would HIGHLY suggest you take his class!
Brother Anderson is fantastic. He allows you to read the scriptures and interpret them however they fit into your life. Its like a spiritual testimony meeting every day. Very nice guy, and full of information. The quizzes make the grading fair and hold you accountable for your work. Highly recommend!
He is brilliant. Has a lot of knowledge on the Book of Mormon and speaks a little Hebrew so he has some interesting insights. Their are daily quizzes on the reading, not too bad and the mid-term and final are papers which he doesn't go too hard on. Highly recommend him!!
Very good religion teacher. The spirit gets invited to class everyday and he lets the students guide what the class learns because we are able to teach each other which in turn helps us learn ourselves. Very good about using quotes from Apostles and Prophets to teach us. You cant ask for more than writing a paper on what ever you want almost
Brother Anderson is a great teacher. Each class starts with a 5-7 question quiz. Fairly easy, if you read the few chapters the night before. Sometimes there are detailed questions, or tricky ones. The quizzes cover 3-7 chapters, so not too hard. He is extremely intelligent, I would recommend him to anyone. I plan on taking classes from him again.
He is a VERY insightful teacher! I love being in his class, he comes prepared to every class and he will be able to answer any questions using General Conference quotes. He knows a little bit of Hebrew and he is one of the most insightful teachers I've ever had!
Loved his class. I learned SO much, and it was very interesting. There's quite a bit of reading, but its all worth it. I would recommend him as a teacher for sure!
Awesome guy, great insights, pretty easy. Just have a 5 question quiz every day (the first question is always whether or not you did the reading, there's always at least one bonus question in case you get one wrong), and the two papers. that's it! He's just a way awesome guy.
I am not a fan of his teaching style. He does have good insights but if you're not one of the students to talk at the beginning, amen to your shot at talking. I prefer a more social class where we get the opportunity to learn from each other instead of just the teacher.
He is a good teacher. Just do your work and youll be fine. Like 30 minutes of homework a night. So an hour total per week. Mid-terms and final are super easy.
Bro. Anderson is one of the best. you only have two papers, which count as your midterm and final which you must be present for. you have a 5 question daily quiz from the reading which aren't hard at all if you read. the class is very open, he asks for questions after the quiz to help the class start. has doctorate in hebrew and jewish studies.
Brother Anderson is a nice guy. He opens the class up for discussion so you have a lot of opportunities to say your opinion. You have a quiz every class but they are easy as long as you read. The Midterm and Final are pretty easy too. He doesn't really give you specific criteria so it's hard to get an A on those. He is a good teacher.
Brother Anderson has been the best Religion teacher I have had! He gives such a great insight on the second half of the Book of Mormon. Take him you will love him and his class!
I really didn't enjoy his class. The reading will take you 3 hours for every class period if you want to pass the quizzes. If you skim you won't do well. And he doesn't really teach, he has several students get up every day to share. He's a nice guy and teaches well the few times he gets up to teach. It is NOT an easy class.
I did not enjoy his class mainly because he does not teach he just has a few students get up and share what they've learned while preparing for class, he might share a few principles in class and that's about it. But he is a good teacher and his class is really easy
Brother Anderson is awesome teacher. He is fair with his students and is way easy. Every day you have a test and usually they are easy. His final and midterm are also very easy. You write a 5 page paper on what you learned and it can be on anything.
Loved Brother Anderson. Will continue to take classes from him whenever possible. He brings the spirit and has had a lasting impact on my life.
Brother Anderson always has great quotes from General Authorities. His class is easy if you do the reading. He is Great!
LOVED having him as my O.T. teacher. Knows Hebrew like some of the others but will explain names and meanings back and forth between English and Hebrew. 2 Essays 3pgs for the class, in class quizes over reading, and just read.
Honestly, he is a great guy. I enjoy some parts of his class. But here's the low down. For two credits, forget about it. I do more work for his class then I do for my Chemistry 4 credit class. He demands WAAAAAAAAAAY too much work from you. Don't take him, find someone else.
My favorite teacher last semester! You won't regret it! He's the reason you want to go to an LDS school over a normal school.
He's a good professor with good insights, but I would never take his class again. Absolutely no electronics(tough luck if you forget your scriptures), mandatory to read the entire manual- which isn't so bad but in his class I feel like I'm in Junior high and can't be trusted.
I found this class so frustrating! I learned so much and I love the Old Testament, but I found him to be a selfish teacher. He taught what he wanted to and now what we needed. We spent HALF the semester in Genesis. We covered Ex, Num and Deut in one class. It's almost impossible to stay up on the reading. You do learn some really cool things though
Interesting class! I wish he went more into the history of the old testament but relates it to Mormons and modern day. Almost your whole grade is based on daily quizzes. Theyre hard. 2 easy final papers. very knowledgeable
I loved his class because he made us work at it. He didn't just give us a lecture with the answers. He made us read the material before we went to class. If we didn't read then it was our fault we didn't learn as much as we could of learned. I loved his way of teaching. He was one of my favorite teachers that i have had at BYUI.
Do not take his class if you are a convert! He gives a quiz every day in class, and if you are new to the church then you won't do well on them. Good lessons, but hate how he reads quotes to teach.
Brother Anderson is such an amazing man. I would seriously recommend taking any religion class from him. Attendance is mandatory, but honestly you want to go. I learned so much.
He loves what he is talking about and is well prepared with many insights. I didn't like the prep involved, 2hrs of reading before class. There was a textbook and BOM assignment to go along with this, but sometimes it was longer or shorter than 2hrs. If you don't do it your grade suffers. I wouldn't take the class if you get stressed easily.
This is the second class I have taken from Brother Anderson. He is a really interesting teacher, he knows his stuff. My understanding of the Old Testament has grown a lot this semester. My only criticism would be the the amount of reading required for the class. He requires reading in both the scriptures and student manual for every class period.
He is a Joke. This is a religion class, he acts likes its your major. You miss two assignments and you grade drops a letter grade. Don't take his class you will regret it. I promise you will regret it.
Overall great class! Brother Anderson has the strongest testimony. He invites the Spirit and loves having discussions about the material. Most of the time the class was a bit of a snoozer but it was bearable. Attendance is crucial, but if you go to class you get an A.
Best professor on campus. I have never learned more from a teacher than I did from him. He lets you make up basically anything that you missed by just writing a paper. He requires a lot of reading, and there is a quiz every time you go to class, but I haven never learned so much fro someone than I did from him!
This is by far the worst religion teacher I have ever had. He is very strict with his grading and I have never had a worst grade than I do in his class even though I attend class and ace all the quizzes. If you miss one quiz, it will bring you down at least 2% with having them every day. He will not listen to you and he only teaches with quotes.
Reading from the scriptures and manual required. If you don't, you won't pass the quizzes. Some of his quiz questions are ridiculous and vague. Self assessment after each class online; You will lose points if you don't turn off your phone before class. If he catches you on your phone in the class your grade becomes a 0 for the sem. Don't take him.
I love the OT and enjoyed brother Anderson, but it was intense for a 2 credit rel class. Reading in the scriptures and student manual is mandatory, about a dozen chapters for every class. Quizzes at the beginning of every class, which I found pretty difficult. He calls on four people every class to give a devotional, so always be prepared for that.
Brother Anderson is incredible at teaching. The spirit is strong in his class. Just do the readings and you will learn and grow, it may seem like a lot, but if you study scriptures daily like you should anyways, it isn't a lot. (Not sure why other people are complaining). Easy midterm and final. Read with intent to learn and go to class, easy A!
Brother Anderson is the worst teacher I've ever had. He gives too much reading and there's a quiz for every hour of class. His quizzes are impossible because you have to know the most ridiculous details. His tests will include things you haven't learned about and if you ask him about it, he will just tell you that you should have known.
I feel as if he doesn't listen to your needs or concerns unless they are a life and death situation. He merely focuses on just getting through the lessons and trying to teach, rather than having the entire class be edified. I didn't feel the spirit hardly in class, and it was hard to focus on his complex lessons.
He is very knowledgeable and I learned a lot from him, but I will never take another class from him again. There's a ridiculous amount of reading that has to be done every day, and his quizzes are filled with small details about things that don't really matter that much. It was a very stressful class and I didn't feel spiritually edified.
TONS OF READING. His quizzes are about tiny little details from the reading that don't really matter, but he expects you to know. i.e. (What hymn was referenced in the ensign talk you read?) No electronics which is a pain, because my normal scripture study is done through my Gospel Library. He teaches through quotes and is very opinionated.
Ron Anderson is a great man who cares about what he teaches. He is a great friend and will support you if you need help. He is an amazing teacher!
Brother Anderson really cares about each student. He takes the time in class to answer question from students. He does have a quiz each day of class about the lesson as soon as class starts. Once you know what questions he will ask, it becomes easy to get a 100% each time. I enjoyed my time in Brother Anderson's class and would take another.
I struggled with Brother Anderson. Quizzes at the start of every class for reading that are hard to pass. Went and talked to him mid semester to see what I could do to improve and he was very willing to help, but he made me work for it. He is very knowledgeable and loves what he teaches but he speculates a lot and says strange things sometimes.
Brother Anderson is one of the most kind and gentle professors I've ever met. Classes are great- he pretty much opens it up to questions and lets the Spirit guide the entire class. Expect to share with the class, and to take quizzes at the beginning that are kinda specific (just do the readings carefully). Loved it!
He's a really good teacher. He knows quite a bit of Hebrew words that helped me to understand the scriptures better. The quizzes that he has for us each day are specific on mundane things, like what the title of the talk was and what number of apostle so and so was. Annoyingly so. But if you read you'll be pass the quizzes just fine.
Was the worst religion professor I have ever got. He doesn't care about student and very self centered. I have no respect for him.
He is an INCREDIBLE religion professor. If you are wanting to actually understand the Old Testament and symbolism in the scriptures, he's the one to take it from!! He has so much knowledge about the scriptures and history. I learn so much every time I have class with him. Those who rate poorly are there for an easy A, not to get anything out of it.
If you don't take a class from him, you are missing out.
Ronald Anderson makes the class feel like a painful useless lecture instead of a fun learning environment. He teaches religion but his quizzes (which are half my grade) are impossible to study for and are irrelevant to religion.
I will admit that this class made me work more than the usual religion class but it was honestly so worth it! Brother Anderson is an amazing teacher and I could feel the spirit so strongly in each class. The quizzes can be a little tough but you start to figure out what it is that he's looking for.
Brother Anderson is tough. This class requires a lot of reading and we are quizzed on the reading everyday. The quizzes can be tough. This class had me struggling for a few weeks, but I will take another religion class from Brother Anderson if ever get the chance because he will challenge you, but your testimony will grow because of it.
He is very knowledgeable about the Gospel and was great at answering any questions. There is a quiz each class so you better do the readings.
Brother Anderson is a very inspirational person that knows his stuff. You will learn a ton in his class. He has two papers due (midterm and final) but both are really easy. There is a small quiz at beginning of each class. Make sure you do the reading and remember it. Because you'd be surprised how negatively the quizzes can impact your grade.
Reading assigned for every class and quiz at the beginning of each class. Grades are determined by quizzes and midterm paper. If you're willing to read, take this class. Brother Anderson had me leaving every single class with a renewed confidence and goal in mind to help better my life. He is so inspirational and taught new insights. Take this!!!!!
I found this class extremely difficult, and can't prepare for it. Every day we were asked questions about the reading that had nothing to do with the topic, and there was no way to prepare for it. He also REQUIRES people to bear their testimony. I would never recommend. I talked to other students in the class, and most didn't like it either.
Brother Anderson is an amazing teacher. He knows his stuff and is really into the gospel and make it fun for everyone in class. He also knows hebrew so he teaches a lot of the true meaning of things which is crazy awesome!
Overall, he is a great teacher. He does not allow you to use electronics in class AT ALL. You need to bring paper scriptures. He starts each class with a quiz about the reading. The first question includes if you brought physical scriptures. If you didn't then you were docked some points. He does let you do make-up work in case you miss any quizzes
Brother Anderson is a great teacher. I just made the mistake of taking a 7:45am class from him when my life was just insane. For this class your whole grade depends upon the test that are taken right at the very beginning of class. These determine your whole grade. He will let you make them up I just didn't have time. Great teacher!
Brother Anderson is a great teacher. I just made the mistake of taking a 7:45am class from him when my life was just insane. For this class your whole grade depends upon the test that are taken right at the very beginning of class. These determine your whole grade. He will let you make them up. Just be ready to work hard!
Theres a test every day about the reading, there pretty easy if you average an 80 you can ace the class because the midterm/final are an easy 100. He lets you do a project instead of the 5 pg final/midterm.
He taught at Jerusalem Center, so he is very knowledgeable of the Gospel; however, he tends to mix his personal opinion with doctrine. Ex: He once told us that Jesus had a wife. You can tell he is very conservative, and may be a tad homophobic as well. Every class period began with a quiz; Midterm and Final were five-page papers. Lots of reading.
He gives a quiz at the start of every class based on the reading. I felt like most of them were unnecessarily hard and focused on random details from the talks instead of actual doctrine.
Brother Anderson is a nice enough dude, but his class is straight up boring. He gives quizzes that aren't really relevant, and teaches straight out of the institute manual. It was a fairly easy A, all you need to do is remember random stuff from the readings, manage to take the quizzes, and turn in a decent midterm and final.
He is my favorite religion teacher! You learn so much from his classes. This is the second class I have taken from him and I plan to keep going. His lessons are always inspired and I enjoy the little quizzes he gives before class. They motivate me to study the material well. I recommend doing the reading before class so you remember better.
Hes really a nice guy, but you basically just teach yourself out of the institute manual. Almost your entire grade comes from how well you can remember random aspects of the reading for his daily quizzes. The quizzes wouldnt be bad if they werent always so particular that its easy to get a bad grade even when you read. Not impossible though!
Great guy and i learned a lot, but the majority of your grade was based on quizzes every class based on the reading due that day. they were mostly random things in the reading to make sure you were paying attention while reading. His knowledge of the NT is amazing and learned so much in his class!
Brother Anderson is awesome! I learned SO MUCH from his class. He's super knowledgeable about the gospel and gives great lectures. He gives quizzes in class based off of the reading, so make sure you read through everything real carefully before class. I will definitely be taking a class from him again!
Great guy. His midterm & final are easy just 5 page essays on what you learned. DONT enlarge your font or use extra space between lines or he might destroy your grade with no mercy. You will learn more deep doctrine/profound knowledge in 2 days of his class than you did from your mission president & your entire high school seminary career combined.
LOVE bro Anderson. He is a great teacher and answers all your questions. not too much work, just be prepared for class and the midterm and final are super easy.
Brother Anderson is a really good religion professor. If you have questions, he is willing to answer them and help you understand the scriptures and help you apply them into your own life.
Brother Anderson is literally the best professor at BYU-I. My wife and I have taken a number of classes with him. In fact, I just signed up for another one! I can honestly say I love this man. He is a once in a generation kind of professor that you'll be telling your kids about!
Bro Anderson is a great professor & great guy! He has traveled all over Europe and the Middle East. He truly knows the deeper doctrine of the Gospel. Ask him any question and he will point you toward at least 3 scriptures & a quote to help you understand. He loves when students share in class and he always brings the spirit. No phones in class.
I will not be taking him again. Not only are his daily quizzes unnecessarily specific and trivial, but they are pretty much the only thing he grades. He forces each person to bear their testimony at least once, which in my opinion is wrong. In my class, he taught his own opinions, false doctrine, and said some really weird things. Cold hard pass.
Youll need to share in front of everyone fairly often in his classes, but theyre easy and well worth it. Hes awesome and funny, and very inspirational.
