Above average professor. Helpful and clear with his lectures. Only beef with him would be misinformation regarding the midterm exam...said there would be lots of choices when in fact there was only one. Other than that, he is recommended in my book.
Nice man but Newbie! Seriously misled us on the format of the midterm pissing everyone off. Used our class time to hold project group meetings in stead of holding special meetings like other profs. Bad news-stole our lecture time. Good news-lectures were so dull don't care. LOW marker. Would NOT recommend. Cross your fingers and hope for Harvey.
Awesome professor. Very helpful, friendly, and approchable. For ITM100 at least, he knows what he's talking about and can provide lots of insight.
BEST PROF EVER! I'd take ITM 100 again just to be able to be in his lectures. VERY helpful and approachable.
Professor Babin is probably one of the nicest teacher's you'll ever have. He's approachable, funny, and extremely helpful. His lectures are colourful, and he has no problem cutting you a bit of a break.
Great Prof, nice, easy going, and overall helpfull.
Nice teacher and fair marker. For midterms/exam did not give give us any directions on what to study for. Except for the essay questions to give us time to prepare and memorize. Essay questions can be hard but varies on your own knowledge & analysis/application. READ THE TEXTBOOK.
He is unqualified for teaching his course.
GREAT professor.
Great way of teaching. Had FUN in the class. Keep doing what you do to make the class more intresting. TAKE ITM100 with this proff
Easy to talk to.Available to give a hand with research and questions.I enjoyed his class a lot.
babin is a nice guy. he is one of the best teachers i have ever had. he makes class fun and hes super easy to talk to. he isnt strict with the textbook and youll only really need it for the tests/exams. his tests arent very difficult but the final exam is pretty hard. definately a teacher you want to have... especially first year.
my best prof so far. his classes are easy peasy :) all class tests are m/c and are done through blackboard or SAM. the textbook is hardly used as his pp slides cover mostly everything. the midterm and exam can be tricky if u don't know anything about IT or haven't gone through the pp notes. other than that, he is one hell of a prof and the nicest
Good guy! HOT!!
HE IS BY FAR THE HOTTEST PROF EVER!
Really pleasant demeanor. He makes emphasis on what is truly important instead of being the kind of prof that is strict for the sake of being a thorn on everyone's side thinking we'll learn better that way. He is the most accomodating prof I've ever seen and he's very open to his students. He's flexible, and most importantly: He listens and asks.

He's a nice person, a pleasure to have him for a prof. Appears to be an industry professional and knowledgable. Exams are M/C with a short answer section. Be sure to attend classes near exam periods because that's when he'll TELL you which questions he'll test you on.
Awesome prof, really brings his experience from the field into his teachings. Fair marker and willing to help anyone who takes the initiative.
He is a wonderful prof! If you need help never hesistate to ask he is the best. email him one of the best profs in all of Ryerson!
Probably the nicest prof I've had. Always seems to be in a good mood.
One of the best prof's I have had. Very interested in the topic and teaches it very well using great examples. He has a goo sense of humor. Most importantly, his tests and assignments are very fair. I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to have him and I hope to have him again for future courses!
Ron Babin embodies the qualities which should be found in all professors; a vibrant and enthusiastic attitude towards the course material, a very clear method of relating course material to students, and a genuine concern for student well-being.
Great prof, very easy on marking, worth sitting in the back of class, don't forget to read the book. All assignments can be re-marked just talk to him face to face.
A reall amazing prof. He's extremely helpfull and nice. Very enthusiastic in the class and is really interested in making sure that everyone does good. Listen to his lectures, make notes and you'll do great. He splits the ITM 100 course with J Peco, another awesome prof. The only down side to his class was that it was at 8am on a monday.
Amazing prof, worth having for sure. Its been a pleasure.
really nice and interactive prof, marks really easy, his lectures are clear and understandable , but the course is a book course and dont really need to attend class, but he does hand out extra marks after midterm so attend a few classes after midterm or ull miss the marks! One bad thing about him is that he never replies your email or is slow to reply
An amazing professor, hes very easy :) make sure you take ITM100 with him. Just read the powerpoint for midterm and exam, the course is a book course. I never attended class. Best ITM i've had so far.
Good prof.He is very engaged, and to tell you the truth the only prof that i feel actually cares about you doing well outside his class. Tries to help as much as possible.
Besttt professor in Ryerson soo helpfull and he sooo sweet and will give constructive critiscim and knows what he is talking about
Best proff ever,he helped me a lot and i got an A+ in his class, fall 2009,you will love him!
The sweetest professor everrrr, helpful, informative, and wants all his students to passs...the best professor known to humankind
Great prof, easy marker, extremely helpful
A very solid prof. Fair/Easy marker and understands the ITM field. Lectures are interesting. Highly suggest taking this prof.
I thought this prof was good. It is better to attend his classes cuz he gives out this participation slips. I think that this was the only class that I didnt fall asleep in. And thats saying a lot. Really good prof!
HE is A REALLY GREAT PROFESSOR, nd MARKS VERY EASILY, really GOOD, HOPE ITM HAS PROFS LIKE HIM MORE
GREAT.
Great Professor! Knows a lot in IT especially in Outsourcing.
Best Prof, I got a A-, but their is a lot of reading. Just read the text and read the powerpoints are the course will be so easy
Best Prof, I got a A-.
He is THE best prof ever!
BEST ITM PROF EVER!!!!!!!!!!
Best prof ever. Easy marker, nice, and explains a lot of the concepts as well.
GREAT PROF!!!!! just dont bother with the book too much cause hes just so clear in class!!! :D
Great prof, best of the best!
Best Prof for ITM 100 Hands DOWN.
Great Prof, explains assignments and exams material thoroughly, provides extra clarification if needed, easy to access, keeps the class interested in the lectures.
one of the best teachers i ever had, uses real life examples, and is veery funny, but keeps relevant to course material, also a very easy marker, if you can get him, enroll in his class for sure!!!
I LOVE THIS MAN
Ron Babin is the best prof you will encounter if you're a BTM student. He truly cares about the success of his students, not to mention his lectures are AMAZING informative and so clear! He is always there willing to give advice and wants to see his students succeed. Your ITM experience will be AMAZING with him
Great Teacher, made class interesting. Definately recommend
one of the best profs..highly recommended..very helpful
Great prof, really tries to get the students involved and interested in the lectures (impressive for lectures of 500 people). He really knows what he's talking about and it translates through his lecture methods. Read the textbook before class and you should have no problem.
Great Professor, very motivating to the students and willing to provide help where its needed. Very good place for students to start in the BTM program.
Possibly one of the best professors at Ryerson. He is clear, makes lectures interesting, and is extremely helpful. He is very encouraging too and made the subject easier to comprehend.
Probably on of Ryerson's BEST prof! He makes his classes fun and has great examples to relate to. Starts off his first class making you feel valued and makes you realize your end goal from university (graduating)! Certainly A GREAT prof! Just remember, "NETFLIX KILLED BLOCKBUSTER"! :)
Ron is honestly amazing. From the beginning he is telling you that he looks forward to seeing you graduate. He brings it up on your first lecture and your last. He aims to call as many students by first name as possible in a 100+ student lecture. I can only think of positive things about him and his class.
I had Ron last year in my first year at Ryerson, now I'm finished first semester year 2. This is by far the best professor at the school as far as I know. I was lucky to have him as an instructor and I hope he is not just to attract the students to the school with his good teaching skills and that I can have him again as an instructor. Recommended
Great professor that just has a natural passion towards teaching. Go to class as you get easy iClicker marks (those questions do appear on the midtermfinal), a chance to ask questions and learn about the particular subject and develop a MUCH greater understanding of it. He really does love his students and goes the extra mile. Amazing prof.
Imagining somebody else trying to teach this course is hilarious. No one can show up and be as enthusiastic and knowledgable about this stuff as Babin.
Ron Babin is a very knowledgeable professor who utilizes innovative teaching methods (iClickers) to keep students engaged. He is a very helpful prof who is always willing to help.
He is really knowledgable overall. Great stuff. The topic's a little bland because it's just basic information systems, but he somehow makes it interesting.
Fun porf. Very nice and approachable. If you hate excel though, best of luck!
The prof is a very nice person and great at teaching as well. He wants you to succeed and is always approachable. Take ITM100 with him if you get the chance to.
Great guy, very nice and caring. I understand why he has a high rating. There are participation quizzes after almost every class, so don't skip. Group project was relatively easy as long as work is shared. he answers every question and makes you feel comfortable.
Such a great professor!! Professor Babin truly enjoys the content he's teaching which makes the lectures interesting and engaging. Really into real life examples so he's constantly using case studies and articles to teach and apply concepts from the textbook. Definitely read the textbook! He's also really helpful when you've got any issues.
An absolute joy to be in Prof. Babin's class. Was clear with the way he taught and gave feedback. If anything, I should have just studied more but the class itself and its instructor for a first time virtual setting was really well done.
Prof Babin is really good. He makes the content very easy to understand. Just pay attention in class and do the homework and you will be good to go!
Good professor. Very organized and wants everyone to do well. He gives great feedback. He is definitely one of the best professors I've had.
Great guy, just seems like a hard class. Take advantage of all projects as they're the easier part of the course.
Babin is a great prof and is passionate about the content he teaches. I made a mistake by not doing any of the readings which is why my grade resulted in a C+. Make sure you attend his lectures because it'll help you understand the textbook content.
Professor Babin is one of the best ITM profs out there. You can feel the passion he has for the program when he teaches Make sure you ace the Excel Quiz and Case since they are easy marks The entire course midterm average was 50% and he offered an optional case for up to a bonus 3% You have to know the material and its application to pass
Prof Ron was a great prof online. His lectures only summarized the chapters so extra reading is NECCESSARY if you want to do well on his exams. His case studies are free marks and the excel quizzes are a piece of cake if you attend the excel bootcamps ryerson offers.
Prof. Babin is one of the best profs you can have for this course. He can explain every concept very clearly and in different ways to make sure everyone understands. His lectures are VERY up-to-date on current IT trends. He is really understanding and I never had a problem with extensions. He's also easy to reach, and happy to help outside of class
Whenever people ask be about Prof. Ron, I always reply with "He's so cute". He really is. He's super easygoing and he knows what he's talking about which makes the lectures waayyy more interesting. The little quizzes at the end are easy grade boosters and he basically hands you the answers to all the case studies in his tutorials. Take his class!!!
He is very up to date with current trends and I would say he makes the lectures enjoyable with his tone. I recommend Prof Babin if you're taking ITM100
Strongly advise picking Babin as your ITM 100 professor. As a freshman taking my very first class, prof Babin made me feel welcomed and happy to learn in a new learning environment. His introductions are clear as you will know what to further expect if you want to pursue a career in information technology.
very nice old man, the content of the course is a bit boring but he tries his best to make it interesting. if you miss an important test, he might have a makeup one scheduled. lots of participation marks to be had, and a few papers to write, but all in all, good prof.
This professor is very friendly and approachable. However, the way he designed the exam is cruel. No matter how much you study defintions, you will get confused with scenario questions. His lectures has so much content which will all gather up at the end. Heavy marker towards the end of course. I suggest you put in 5 hours a day to study.
He is a great professor. The way he delivers his lectures are interesting and informative. However, the format of his exams are very difficult which means understanding the content and definitions is not enough. His exams are mostly scenario based questions, which requires heavy critical thinking and understanding of the text book.
Dr. Ron Babin, a highly experienced professor. People blame there failures on the prof, Dr. Babin did not make the exam. Dr. Babin is a highly caring professor and ensures his students are successful in this content heavy course, for example providing the accommodations needed, reviewing assignments at the request of students, replying to emails.
Ron Babin is really nice but man this class was so MUCH. It felt like every class was a 100-page slideshow. There was also in-class quizzes every week so you need to come to class. On top of that, you also had to write a case study each week. The midterm and exam were also difficult but we ended with an A- so we persevered.
Very nice old man. He always made accommodations and tried to make the class entertaining. The course is really boring and just information overload every class. For the midterm and exam, don't focus too much on the general terms and their meanings but rather how they're specifically applied to different scenarios. Assignments boost grades. Do well
I took Babin last year, but I still can't forget how amazing he was. ITM100 isn't an interesting class, but he truly makes it feel fun. He knows his stuff, doesn't read off slides, and gives real world examples. Had my fair share of ITM profs; I know many of us will agree he's one of the only good ones, sadly. Really wish he taught more classes!
I really enjoyed him as my prof. Lectures are heavy, and you are graded on a lot of material but he gives great feedback and is passionate about what he does. Make sure you understand how to apply the topics! Rather than simply memorizing the terms. Definitely a more memorable and likeable prof.
Genuinely such a sweetheart! I had him for ITM100 which is content-heavy but he makes it bearable by bringing guest speakers, and case studies (he's flexible with his marking) and doing his best to explain concepts. For midterm and final exam, focus on how to apply concepts to scenarios and definitions. Ask questions and read the textbook!
Tests are completely different from what he says are on there. Doesn't respond to emails when you ask for help. Tells you one thing to study but ends up being useless when it comes to the tests even when using the textbook.
lowkey mid
Mr. Ron Babin as a person is amazing, he's very nice and caring. But his tests are not what is taught, the Midterm for this class was very hard and I studied all his slides yet it did not prepare me for it. But overall hes a nice guy, just don't like the tests and midterms.
One of the best profs in all of TMU! I didn't even enjoy the course material that much but his lectures were so enjoyable it made it easy to show up. He knows how to explain concepts well, and the slides + practice material he provides are very helpful. He's also an overly fair marker, but beware of the tests as the course is VERY content heavy.
As a first-year, his classes were easily my favourite. He's very passionate about what he does and his lectures are enjoyable. However, make sure to lock in for the mid-term and final since this course is content-heavy. But overall, I'm gonna miss his class and he's a great prof so if you have the chance, you should def take his class! :)
Babin is an amazing prof who is very understanding. I would recommend seeing him in office hours. There is a quiz every class and it has a password so you cant do it at home. Course was a lot of content and it is draining. Make sure to read the textbook and UNDERSTAND the concepts rather than memorizing.
Very sweet and caring individual with a great knowledge of expertise. To connect more with today's world he tries to align the terminology and how it can be visualized today. Be prepared to spend time on labs, show up to class as there are in-class quizzes, and to maximize your mark in said labs be sure to connect course terminology and examples.
THE ABSOLUTE GOAT OF THE IT DEPARTMENT. It will be a very sad day for all TMU students when this guy retires. Such a nice and caring professor who puts in effort in his classes and genuinely loves IT. This is a difficult course but if you want to maximize your chances at getting a good mark and having a good experience take Ron Babin.
Ron Babin knows the content by heart and will often use relevant news and events as a real world connection to his lectures. Read the textbook chapter before hand and make notes on it, it's a bit time consuming but it makes a big difference when studying and understanding the lectures. Amazing prof for a class that some might find confusing
Ron Babin isn't just 1 of the best professors for ITM, he's 1 of the best in the entire school. He's a very caring and kind guy who inspires his students to graduate and pursue meaningful careers. He's lenient in the sense that he'll give poor-performing students retakes. However, this course is very difficult and you must prepare for the exams.
Hang this guys jersey in the TMU rafters when he retires. Absolute gem of a professor. As a university student you expect high quality education, and this guy delivers exactly that. Extremely knowledgable guy who has a kind heart.
Ron Babin is the Lebron James, Tom Brady, Michael Phelps, Tiger Woods, Georges St-Pierre, Lewis Hamilton, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Gretzky, Babe Ruth of Toronto Metropolitan University. 5/5 stars GOATed prof
If I had to rate Ron Babin strictly as a professor, he's AMAZING. 10/10!!! Most of the negative reviews stems from this course being difficult, but from an objective viewpoint Ron Babin is a nice guy and great teacher who has a deep interest in ITM. Take him and you wont regret it at all
Great prof, difficult midterm.
A great professor with an even greater personality, this is going to be a tough course no matter who you take it with but ron was defenitly the best option his lectures are amazing.
ITM100 is tough in general since its a memorization based course of 130+ key concepts, however if you want to get the best value for your tuition money take Ron Babin. He's by far the best option and it isnt even close
Take him for itm 100 you will not regret it. This course is difficult due to the heavy memorization and understanding of its concepts, but Dr. Babin makes it far more bearable. The midterm and final are hard, but he tries his best to prepare you.
The Lebron James of TMU.
Cant get any better than Babin! He knows his stuff REALLY well and also updates his curriculum to keep up with current trends that are happening in the ITM world. This makes it easier for his students to stay engaged with the material. I honestly wish I could have Babin as my profs for other classes. It was a bittersweet moment ending the semester.
Professor Babin is incredible! He explains complex topics clearly, fosters engaging discussions, and genuinely cares about his students' success. The class is well-structured and inspiring. Babin is always approachable and supportive. Highly recommend taking his class!
This course requires significant memorization, so stay on top of the material and read the textbook at least once, as it explains the concepts clearly. Prof. Ron is very caring and even curved our midterm. Be sure to utilize his office hours, as there may be opportunities for a regrade.
It doesn't get any better than Ron Babin.
bro is actually the goat. if he taught more classes would 100000% take him again. he fr the lebron of TMU, he the lord and savior of BTM
If I somehow had the option to take Ron Babin as my professor for every single one of my courses throughout 4 years of university, I'd take it all day any day. He's such a great person and teacher.
He's excellent. VERY VERY VERY knowledgable, kind, and willing to help his students out. He gives out reasonable extensions, provides many resources to study, and gives good practice assignments. 10 outta 5 stars no doubt
Great teacher
Babin is the greatest prof in the entire school lmao. This is a required course that is relatively hard, but Babin makes it enjoyable to learn and helps his students out.
A very sweet prof. Course was easy to pass.
This prof was genuinely so so sweet and caring. The way he delivered his lectures made them really easy to understand. I genuinely really enjoyed taking this course even though I ended with a bad mark but that's my own fault for not studying loool.
I promise you will enjoy your semester with Babin as your professor, and even miss it when it's over. He is genuinely one of, if not the greatest teacher I've had in my life and this isn't even bias like he gave me a free A+. I truly mean it from the heart, he is very knowledgable, kind, and understanding. One in a million type of guy!
Best prof in all of TMU. He knows his stuff and is a kind person. He'll try his best to make sure every single student does good and he also motivates his students to think long-term towards graduation, which is very wholesome.
Babin is like that kind uncle who gives you money everytime he see's you, except in this case it's academic help in place of money. Seriously, he's kind and passionate about IT and will go above and beyond to help every student do well in his class. He extended many deadlines and gave plenty of opportunities for extra credit. EXCELLENT PROF.
Amazing prof, however dont get it confused and think this class will be a cakewalk. There is tons of reading and homework practice you have to do and the exams are pretty tough as well. In the grade distribution stats around half of the kids fail exams since there is a ton of memorization involved. In total, there are around 150 concepts u learn.
Good prof, but class was pretty challenging
Best prof in the whole university, no exaggeration
one of the key things that makes babin such a well respected professor is his passion for teaching ITM. he genuinely enjoys diving deep into that world and explaining the concepts that it wont feel like your ordinary boring 3hr lecture.
I miss this guy a lot. Had him in my first semester of university which is a daunting time for many, however he does his best to ease the transition for new students. Great teacher and will help every single student do well as long as you put in the work. I wish he taught every course at TMU lol
Best prof he genuinely cares
Ron Babin is easily the best prof for ITM100 and in my opinion is the best prof a year one BTM student can get. Very clear with grading and extremely lienent with students. He genuinely cares about his students and is very good at making sure you succeed.
Ron Babin is the best ITM100 professor by far. He is so caring, nice, and genuinely has a passion for teaching. He makes lectures engaging and gives great examples. The midterm and exam are easy if you learn the textbook key terms and reread the presentations. He covers each class in enough detail without dragging it out. Would recommend!
the lectures were at 8am on mondays which were a little hard to follow but if you can stay awake they are actually interesting. there were password locked quizzes or participation marks every class so going is a must. the excel tests, cases and exams werent too bad but make sure you do well on the in class stuff so you dont have to worry later.
Prof Babin is possibly the best first-year instructor at TMU. He cares deeply about his students, and his lectures are engaging and easy to follow. The course content is inherently memorization heavy, but the exams are fair as long as you study effectively. It felt like Prof Babin answered emails instantly, so don't hesitate to reach out for help.
100% the best prof in the entire university and I firmly stand by that. You will have to study hard for this course because theres a lot of concepts you will learn.
He is a very good speaker and works hard to help every student understand the content. Lecture attendance is mandatory.
He was a good professor. He marked really strictly on the 1st inclass assignment. Reading the textbook is worth it. Studying everyday will get you a good mark. Hes pretty helpful and accessible outside of class. Never miss class because there's inclass quizzes.
Babin is really passionate about the course and his students. His lectures are somewhat engaging but make sure you write notes because there are MANY terms to memorize. Every lecture there's a quiz you can complete with others. Case studies are tough and most people bomb at least one. Of all your courses, this is the one to study for the most.
