Arrogent! He deffinently knows the subject but cannot present it in an understandable mannor. If you don't understand he will make you feel inferior and dumb. Cipcic should no be a teacher!
He's the best teacher ever!!!!

This class requires alot of hard work, on your own. Cipcic basis whole class off test points alone. Very difficult material, he uses graphs for everything.
Cipcic is a great teacher. His classes take a lot of hard work on the students part, but if you are willing to try, he is more than willing to help you. His lessons are very clear and easy to understand. I learned a lot from him.
the class is interesting
"wrote the book" that is used in the class, so basically you cant argue anything, does a ton of work on the graph as opposed to notes, only about 3 major tests that your grade will be based on, good guy but not a great teacher
If you're a slacker, do yourself a favor and stay away. If you want to learn something for a change and are prepared to work, this class is outstanding. Probobably one of the best professors I have ever had!
This guy thinks he is "Mr. Econ." He writes his own book so thinks that he is remarkably brilliant. He know too much about the subject to teach it and doesnt realize that it is actually difficult to some.
Mr. Cipcic is very knowledgable. However, seems to make general concepts much harder than they should be. Definitely plan on making an effort outside of class. Lots of graphs to draw, formulas to remember, and not many points to work with as far as your grade. If you want an easy A, BEWARE!!
i took cipcic for both micro and macro, and i did horrible in both. i had a great GPA til his class. he was not helpful at all and his book was confusing, and the charts just made it worse. i would take it over the summer 4 days a week before taking him again.. ick.
Just like other people I had a great gpa before him, I studied went to every class, and took notes on EVERYTHING and I still did poorly. I have heard other negative things about him from other teachers too. Anyone who says otherwise can suck it.
So far this has been one of my easiest classes.
Mr. Cipcic is a good guy he let me attend any of his 201 classes if i missed my own, his class is hard i got a 37 on the first test, he allows a makeup though, and if you actually sit down and study the material you can do quite well i managed a comeback and got a B if you are a slacker forget it if you actually want to learn awesome class.
good material just too much of it, he tended to be a jerk to students when they had a question about the material. very fast moving
He is a horrible teacher that never helps when help is needed! He took his own exam and only got a 96% on it and he is an economics major!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER IF POSSIBLE!!!!!
Tests are extremely difficult. He expects too much out of students for a beginning class and has bad teaching skills. Doesn't really help out when he asks questions, but a nice guy outside of class.
Not as bad as made out to be. Obviously all the other reviewers have not been to a University. I have and he teaches like most professors. Nice guy and very helpful in and out of class if you make the effort. The material is difficult but not impossible. Just make sure to study, take diligent notes, and pay attention.
Very good instructor. His class was challenging, but the textbook packet he wrote is very helpful especially when getting reading for the test. His humor made the subject more enjoyable.
I was told never to take Ron's class by more then one reliable friend. But i didnt take their warnings and took his Macroeconomics Class. I was worried at first but I followed his intructions to read his book. His book is that good that if you read it, do all the problems follow his advice and tips, you will do fine. I put to rest the Naysayers.
Read his book and do all practice problems. If you don't understand something, ask him and as long as he sees that you have tried he will help as much as he can.
I dislike his teaching style. .the end
Excellent communicator!!! Study before tests, and you will be fine. No other homework. Great class, great text.
Cipcic was an AWESOME Teacher!!!! He totally Rocks!!! Please take his class if you only want to actually learn economics. If you do you will absolutely LOVE the class. He is a great teacher and very understandable. He is great at what he does and should definitely stay in the teaching profession. GO CIPCIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You're Awesome!!!
I found Cipcic to be an excellent teacher. He was very knowledgeable about the subject he taught and clearly enjoyed what he did and it showed every day in class. I warn you though If you are dumb stay away. He wont put up with stupidity or lack of effort. If you cant handle this class you should just give up forever. Ron Cipcic for president!
Ron's teaching style is up front and to the point. If you want some real answers regarding economics and the world, take this class. Yes, you do have to do some reading and think-work. Isnt that why you're in the class to begin with? to learn? If you slack of, its your own darn fault, not the his. Cut back on the beers, you'll do fine.
Funny guy, but very egotistical. Acts annoyed when asked questions. Quizzes, tests and exams are extremely hard. Lots of people fail or drop this class.

This guy was pretty cool! Pretty hard class though....you actually have to think in that class and when you are taking the tests you actually have to know the stuff! If you don't know it you're screwed. He is hard core into himself though and he always bragged about going to the gym at 5am everyday! Kinda annoying! Not really highly recommended tho
The workbook for Macro were very helpful. The questions inside went right along with his lectures and the self-assesments were very helpful. I plan on taking any classes he is teaching!
Macro & Micro Great Classes, you learn a ton, and his teaching style is very organized and easily understandable. VERY highly recommended.
This course isn?t a walk in the park. You?ll need to pay attention, follow this work book and attend classes for quizzes. This class does require a large amount of study time, if you don?t pick up the concept quickly. If you do want to learn about economic this course is an excellent start. It was difficult(stressful), but glad I took it.
Ron Cipcic is a classical conservative who only believes in free market capitalism.
Teaches how he knows how to teach econ, if you dont understand his style forget about learning, I read the book and still didnt understand if you talk to him about it he will tell you to read the book again! He is very rude, not willing to help you understand, makes you feel stupid
Great teacher, if you are at school to learn then he is great. On the other hand of you are there for your social life and dont really care about your future go back to highschool where maybe you can make it. Apply yourself you will be fine.
Great teacher, if you are at school to learn then he is great. Apply yourself and you will be fine. I had taken his class failed it and retook it with a 4.0 it just takes effort. Which is more than most are willing to apply.
teaches the stuff like hes been doing it for 20 years, and as if his students have to. strict grader for exams. class taught almost entirely from the book that HE wrote. complicated lessons for any who havent studied it before.
This teacher is amazing! He tells it to you straight, if you don't study, you won't pass. If you don't show up to class you won't pass. Not for those looking for an easy A with no work involved. You get the grade you worked for. Loved the class and taking him again this fall!
great instructor!
Ron Cipcic is a great instructor. You must come to class and do the homework if you want to pass, but he makes life easy if you do the work. He is extremely knowledgeable in his field, and a lot of fun to listen to. I took Macro and Micro from him and got a 4.0 in both. Ron is tough but fair. Study the text, come to class and get a good grade.
He is tough, but good! If you come to class and do the work, you WILL pass, with a decent grade (good, if you're good at econ.) And even better, you will actually learn something. This class is for serious students, not wimps! He gets an A+ in my book, even though I only got a C in his!
He is an arrogant man for sure. That being said, he is also a great teacher. If you can look past his quirks and rants, you can learn a lot from him. Come to class, study hard, pay attention, and you will do fine. He is defiantly better than the guy I took for Micro, at least I understand him!
Cipcic is a great teacher! Everyone on here who's talking bad about him probably are the kids who dont study or read the assignments. He tells you exactly whats on the test, gives identical practice exams and goes over everything. And yes if you dont read and then ask him questions you should already know, he wont help you.
One of the best teachers at KVCC. I loved going to every class. Just study and you will do just fine.
Great teacher! really knows his stuff and is eager to help students who want to learn! if you come to class and ask questions he already went over he gets mad though. Great teacher if you want to learn! I would take him again in a heartbeat
There is a difference between arrogance and confidence. Mr. Cipcic is a very confident person, which I believe makes him a great instructor. His courses are very difficult but completely worth it. As long as you put forth the effort he expects, you'll do very well!
Completely fair. If you read and do the work you'll get a good grade. Took him for macro and taking him again for micro.
Mr. Cipcic is one of the better teachers I have have had at KVCC. Very nice and helpful guy if you are really trying to learn. Its not a hard class and he offers a very affordable text book. If you attend class regularly and read your book, he will go go out of his way to help you with anything you don;t understand. Don't believe the haters!
As a teacher: Great! He is one of the only prof's I had here at Kvcc that actually has standards. Go to class everyday, do ALL reading and assignments then you will do fine. As a person: A huge butthead. He can be arrogant at times. Whatever you do, dont challenge him. He will never give up! Still one of the top prof's at Kvcc.
One of those classes where you have to pay attention and study outside of class, atleast to get a 4.0. The class was very fun though. Cipcic is very funny and keeps class interesting so you never fall asleep...or he will throw a marker cap at you :P Loved the class, already signed up to take micro with him!
I've heard that he's a tough teacher. I have had Mr Cipcic for two classes and wish he taught more classes! You MUST keep up with the lectures and do all your homework. If you come to class and pay attention you'll do fine. He's one of the best at Valley!
Definitely study the material in his book. If you read each unit and do the SA quiz's you will easily pass his exams and understand his lectures way better. He is cocky, but he knows what he is talking about so attend class and TAKE NOTES! You will pass if you actually read his book. Don't be afraid to ask ?'s!!
had him for both macro and micro. hard class because you actually have to read, show up to class, and cant cheat! loved the workbook. it has all of the practice problems you will need to study. even tells you what is going to be on the final. just have to STUDY! helpful outside of class and wants you to succeed!
A hard professor, knows what he wants and does not settle for anything less. Has his own course pack that he teaches from. Requires a lot of studying if you are not familiar with the information. Do what is expected of you and pass don't and you will fail. Only helps if you are showing an effort. Overall liked the professor though.
Took him for Macro Econ. Even though he is a tough teacher he knows his subject well. I'm currently in him Micro class and am positive ill do well as long as i keep up with my studying and pay attention to the lectures.
You have to buy the class packet. But you don't have to buy book! His class isn't easy but it's fair. As long as you go to class and do the packet work you will do well. His lectures are crystal clear. Also he is somewhat entertaining. Definitely not a boring monotone instructor. P.s. I would definitely not want to start a debate with this guy.
He teaching style is great but he personality sucks. Make sure to stay on his good side. Lots of studying outside of class, daily quizzes happen a lot. you wont know when they are unless you go to class.
Mr. Cipcic is not an easy professor. But if you go to his office hours, attend class, do practice problems out of his packet, you'll do fine. If you're not willing to work hard, don't take this class.
Cipcic is hilarious and a great teacher. Loved his class. Reader beware his classes are not easy.
One word: RUN. Do not take him. He is an arrogant, self centered man. Told an African kid that he might be able to be late in Africa but not here.. Not right. He is so closed minded he makes it uncomfortable to ask and questions about things you dont understand. I do not at all recommend taking this professor. I tell everyone to stay away.
This class is hard whether or not you study and the likelihood of failing is great because there are no projects, all points come from tests. I would not recommend this teacher. He talks to himself and embarrasses students that ask questions in class.
Mr. Cipcic is a hard grader..you will have to work for your grade in this class..but he is fair..he gives you the material in the packet plus lecture and also has youtube videos of the lectures. He is willing to help students but you have to put in the effort yourself before he will help. if youre looking for an easy A this is not the class.
I ran away from this guy. He has knowledge of Economics, there is no doubt about that. This man, is one of the most arrogant teachers I've ever ran into in my entire life. Spends 20 minutes of class talking about himself and what he did, tries to relate these stories to class, but the relation is always vague. Tough grader, RUN!!!
Great teacher, knows everything to do with economics. He makes the class worth attending and has a great sense of humor. Do the work and go to class and you will succeed.
this micro econ course was probably the most challenging class ive taken. Ron is a great teacher, who is funny and always keeps you interested. No homework so your whole grade is based on your test grade. If you read the coursepack you will be fine, if you don't you will fail.
very hard class to pass. he got a good sense of humor and thats it
Read his packet and do his practice problems in his packet. If you can do his practice sets the tests are easy, nearly identical problems. Use his terminology as well, otherwise you'll lose points. If you don't want to put in some workreading then don't take this guy, but if you don't want to work why are you in college?
He targeted one girl of African American decent out of an entire class for simple things like putting away her pen. He told her not to return! I really don't recommend this guy but there aren't many options unfortunately! Go to every class, sit far away from him, and try your best to stay on his good side. He's an awful man but knows economics!
knows econ but not how to explain it. arrogant and impatient in lectures. his homemade textbook had many typos and was so wordy the concept definitions were lost. spent at least 10hrs a week on this course and still lost my 4.0 gpa status. of 20+ students 6 remained to take the final exam. intimidates students into not asking questions, no feedback
This class was SO tough - but you know what? I really learned a lot from Cipcic. He does expect you to learn a lot of material and he is tough on grading, but thanks to that I know a lot about economics now. Only take this class if you are serious about learning and have a good therapist.
If you like to study and memorize and get humiliated take Cipcic. I dropped this class because I felt like an idiot for asking questions. He singles people out and makes them feel terrible for not understanding. Me for example.
I'm currently taking his macro test online and I really don't think its that bad. He gives us weakly assignments of what to read and do, SO DO IT! And on top of that he has a lot of YouTube videos to help you, what other teacher spends the time to do that? He has assignments, quizzes, and practice exams in he pack, what more can you ask for?
The biggest take away I have gotten from this course is how not to teach. Ron has a self-published text book filled with self-aggrandizing cartoons. Quizzes and tests are tricky. I would not recommend taking a course with Cipcic unless you are masochistic. The average class grade in his two online courses is 40%. Be careful if you take this course
bad attitude and arrogant. doesn't explain concepts, just repeats definitions with different wording. lectures are long and awkward because he tries to stir up arguments with students. also tries to "pull answers" from the room while he's teaching and gets mad when no one responds. it's 6pm, everyone's tired and trying to learn, not talk..
Let's just say if you want to hurt your GPA, then this professor would be your best candidate. He is very egotistical, which makes him very intimidating. He makes an entry level class way to harder, which turns students away from Econ. The test are very challenging. We ended up having only 9 students out of 25 who took the final. Good luck!
I will NEVER take another class with Cipcic and would not recommend anyone take his class either. Not a good instructor at all!!!
I took the online class and the tests were on campus; I signed up for online so it would be online. Not much help. If you don't have enough points at the end, you cannot even take the final. I have never been in a class where you may not be able to take the final.
worst teacher, expects students to fail.
Mr. Cipcic is a very tough teacher. A lot is expected of his students. But if you do the homework, STUDY, and ask questions, you will be fine. Use his office hours, that's why he has them. Also, he puts his lectures online so you can watch them as many times as you need to.
Worst professor I've ever had. I'm not sure which was worst, his personality or his teaching style. He makes YouTube videos for you but they have the same exact thing on the notes. Number for number so it's no extra help if you are confused. Out of 25 students only 12 of us were left by the end of the semester. Good luck if you are stuck with him.
this class is the best class iv ever taken. this is how classes should be. make you work and learn. this class is fair and tough. all you got to do is actually study unlike most classes at kvcc. you get real life lessons and he uses real world examples to help you understand. you actually learn econ.
I'd not take him as a professor. Unforttunately he's not a helpful teacher and it's really hard to understand his material. He expects students to get a good grade but he makes class way too hard.
If you are attending the class intending to learn the material, this professor is the best professor to get your money's worth. If you take the class just get a passing grade for requirements, you're in the wrong place. Actually puts the textbook to use, doesn't waste time. Hint: not a class to procrastinate.
I'm pretty sure he writes all the reviews on here that say you have to try. I had this class studied harder than any of my classes at Western and Still failed please don't take this instructor. Just look at his textbook! he makes cartoons of himself! He teaches you way too much and brags about having tenure allowing him fail everyone.
KVCC needs a new econ professor. Please dont take this class and think you will pass.
If you like reading then this is the class for you. it is super easy if you do the practice tests and quizzes. The test you take in class are exactly like the practice tests. He also gives out extra credit! The only people that don't like him are lazy kids that don't take college seriously.
I would like to start by saying I am an excellent student. I receive A's in all of my classes and it is because of the work I put into them. Cipcic is a terrible professor. I have been trying extremely hard the entire semester and can't seem to do well in this class. I strive for A's and in this class I am just hoping to pass with a C. DO NOT TAKE!
Very unclear. Does not teach, just gives you the material and expects you to teach yourself. Would not take a class with him again.
This teacher is by far the very worst KVCC has to offer. Yes, he knows his material because he's been doing it for 30 years. However, it's not the same as it was 30 years ago. He hates the younger generation and forces you to do things his way, he constantly contradicts himself and is the most arrogant SOB at KVCC. Even other teachers hate him.
Great Teacher. I learned so much from his class, yes it was tough but I think more teachers should be like him. I've had a lot of really easy teachers at KVCC and I felt like I hardly learned a thing in those classes. In his class, I actually learned. It wasn't an easy class but it was worth it. I ended up getting a 3.0 in his class. I loved it.
Cipcic was very rude and did NOT respect students. Although his textbook lays out the material, his exams are nothing like what he lectures on. If you skip a lecture you will not pass. The textbook is mandatory, he wrote it, you use it. 4 exams, as well as the final cumulative. Would not recommend.
Absolutely horrible teacher, he was so egotistical that we spent half the class talking about his workout. He wrote the book so he thinks he's never wrong and don't even try to fight against him. He is by far the worst professor I have had! AVOID HIM!!!!!!!!!
I have never met a more egotistical, pompous professor. He had the class verbally, outloud thank him for the textbook he wrote throughout the semester, which features drawings of him as our "personal trainer." Grade consists only of exams, will not help you but instead refers you to his YouTube channel. You teach yourself. AVOID.
He was full of himself. Used his own "packet" that he created, yet midway through the class gave us replacement pages which contained flaws. I went to every class except 2 due to a death in the family and when I asked him for help he simply said "life happens" and refused to meet with me after the class was over to go over the final.
This class isn't hard but he makes it extremely hard. He isn't easy with the test's or quizzes and is so picky when grading. Marks you down for the smallest thing. He's rude when you ask questions so it makes you not want to ask for help. Sarcastic and not in a good way.
his attitude towards students is quite rude & cocky. I did NOT appreciate it. Exams are rough & he tells you from Day 1 you will be teaching yourself he's just your "Personal Trainer". 4 Exams; only source of points (which sucked).
If you want to teach yourself then go ahead and take him. He is by far the hardest teacher I have ever had. He makes a profit off his book that he makes you buy that is great but you have to teach yourself.I am not going to school to teach myself I am going for someone to teach me! He is also a very hard grader on test! Be ready to work!
he's such a hit or a miss. you either love this guy or hate him. he's very set in his ways which means no lenience and hes not open to change. his tangents can be occasionally funny. makes us afraid to ask questions. . we dont know if he'll say "good question! you just the class average!" or "im not re-lecturing on that... re-read your notes..."
Worst teacher I have ever had. The only thing he seemed to care about was selling his book, which is the worst textbook I have ever purchased. Quizzes and tests are fill in the blank, without a word bank or anything. Do not recommend this guy.
Mr. Cipcic is not a bad personality. His teaching technique is okay but his self written, self published text book is poorly written and incomprehensible. I advise that you seek other professors at all costs
Please, if you value your grade and your sanity do not take any of his classes. He did not lecture in class and would not go over problems from homework. The only way we learned was by watching Youtube videos he made. Only exams counted towards our grades. Dislikes when you ask questions in class and will belittle you for having them.
Ron thinks he's cool and funny, but in reality he's annoying. He made a girl cry about her major by telling her she wouldn't make any money and live depending on someone else. Avoid.
He has such a smart mouth and makes students feel dumb for asking questions.
If you slack off your grade WILL reflect it. The best way to pass his class is by watching the online videos, doing the reading assignments and topic quizzes. Once you get to the self exam just photo copy them and retake them over and over till you can get a perfect score. All his self quizzes/self exams are exactly what you'll be tested over.
Don't take his class unless you plan on taking it with nothing else. Your grade is based on four exams. I tried reading, watching his videos, taking notes, photocopying his work book and testing myself repeatedly and still got a 1.0. I respect his ideas/values of mastering material, but his hybrid course doesn't allow you to understand it that way.
Ron Cipcic was by far the most difficult professor I have ever dealt with. He is very egotistical! He does not give homework assignments so your passing of the class is based on three test scores. He doesn't allow makeups of any kind and you can not miss class unless you are dead. I definitely would not recommend him to my worst enemy.
Worst teacher I have ever had at KVCC. He is the most egotistical teacher to walk the campus, ever!! You can get answers right and he marks them wrong and then argues with you about them.
I had Mr. Cipcic for both of his Econ classes. To begin I am not a genius, and I aced both of his classes. He will give you three ways to learn the material, his own book, some in class, and his lectures online, you need to do all of them when Asked. Do this, take the self assessments and practice tests and you can get whatever grade you want.
Had to take his class as a transfer credit. Rushes through everything and expects you to understand. He wrote the textbook himself and thinks he's a genius. Went and asked him for help or extra credit and pretty much told me I was dumb. Studied for hours for exams and still failed. Do not take his classes!
Cipcic is by far the worst professor I've had. He is very condescending and thinks he's the smartest person alive. He also requires you to drop his class after the first three exams (which are your only grades) if you have less than a 60% in his class. He makes you feel stupid for asking questions.
Very difficult class for an introduction to economics class. Not flexible with students. Would not let me make up a quiz because I had to train for a week with the Army. Clearly, does not care about students.
In all honesty, I hated this class. He makes going to this class a nightmare. He enjoys making the class miserable and laughs when students struggle. On the first day of class he told us he was proud of the fact that he has such bad ratings. During class time he would tell us stories about how great he is instead of teaching the material.
Very disrespectful towards his students
He is a very good teacher. If u follow his steps be sure to pass
Extremely disrespectful towards students. This class destroyed my love for economics. He assigned homework, but never checked it. Your grade is solely based on three tests. If you didn't do well on the first test he asks you not to come back due to your inability to do well in front of the rest of the class.
Not sure why all the bad reviews. He just makes you work for your grade. Be prepared before class, do all readings/homeworks/practice tests and you make your own fate. He is pretty funny but i can see where people think its rude. If you waste peoples time or ask dumb questions, he'll let you know. All in all, do all the work, and its not that bad.
He deserves all the bad reviews. He related any and every topic in the class to himself, projects his ideals and political opinions on the students, and does not answer questions when students ask. All he does is refer them to the textbook, which he wrote, and somehow even the textbook has his same condescending tone. Really dislike this professor.
A lot of people take Ron the wrong way. But he is an amazing teacher. You're getting a University education at the community college price. People don't like him because he actually makes you work for a good grade. He is open to you emailing him or meeting him during office hours. He really wants to see his students succeed. STUDY STUDY STUDY!
Im at MSU now and he is still by far the worst professor Ive ever had. I took his class online and did terrible on the first test. I asked if I could come to his office and review the test and he said it wouldnt do any good and I should just do better on the next tests. If not for my mom who has an Econ degree helping me I wouldve failed.
I do NOT recommend this professor. He gets extremely off task, and his ego is sky high. I did not like all of his "commercials breaks" during class, several times a class. His tests are incredibly specific and students felt dumb when asking questions because he would respond with "I wrote the book". I am a A student and i almost failed this class.
Worse professor I have ever had. He is disrespectful and does not care about the student. The subject is already hard to understand, and he does not make it any easier. If you are brave enough to ask a question he will belittle you. Started the semester with a full class and by the final there were only 5 of us left. TAKE ANY OTHER PROFESSOR!
After leaving his first lecture I was already ready to drop the class because he is SO full of himself.. (Not in a good way either) He "thinks" he is amazing and should be respected, but instead is the most disrespectful person I have EVER met. He gets off topic and doesn't teach you anything, you have to teach your self.. DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS!!
Do not take this class unless you are good at teaching yourself hard subjects. Ron doesn't teach he expects you to read the material and watch the online videos and understand it yourself.
The studying for this class is excessive and it's all a cash grab from this guy. Buy his book->Half of the class has to retake-> He encourages Withdrawing. Profit.
Cilcic is the best professor I have ever had. I am in my senior year; I took him as a freshman. He is incredibly clear on what you have to do to be prepared for his tests. All of the material in his book is relevant, even going into upper level econ classes. Awesome professor! The book is straightforward and easy to read. Only textbook I've read.
Without a doubt Ron is the worst professor I have had to date. Do not take this class unless you are ready to teach yourself ALL of the material. Ron is very condescending, and I often do not ask questions in class out of fear of being belittled by him, as he does to anyone who is confused. Ron does not support a productive learning environment.
Cipcic has got a bad rap around town for being "tough" and "unreasonable". I would like to completely disagree. He basically gives you the exams in his text, and he expects you to study. Majority of business majors out there probably hate the idea of studying, but as a ChemE, this class is cake. Cipcic is incredibly fair, no tricks, to the point.
Avoid this rude instructor at all costs. He purposely deflates grades by using trick questions. You're only graded on 3 exams + final, so you have almost no room for error. Over twenty in class to start the semester, when I bailed there was 7 of us showing up. The reviews here are real. KVCC should not retain him.
ECO 202 is a hard class. The hybrid format is tough if youre not used to self-directed online learningits a dense, math-heavy class. Cipcic can be a bit abrasive, but its possible to work with him. He is a very tough grader but if you study really hard, read the whole book, do all the exercises, and go to class for EC attendance, its doable.
You will have to work HARD for an A. So many people complain about him, but he is simply no-nonense and expects you to work. Read the book, watch all the lectures, do the homework to prepare for the tests. It is extremely straightforward. You WILL have to put in a lot of time and effort. If you are not willing to work, don't take him.
I graduate with my bachelor's degree in a couple months. Looking back, Cipcic is still my all-time favorite professor. He taught me a LOT. He is clear about his expectations and grades very fairly. It's easy to get a good grade if you just LISTEN to what he tells you. Do the practice problems. Cipcic is the best professor at KVCC, hands down.
Super condescending in attitude. His textbook uses very confusing ways to explain very simple things. The book is filled a disturbing amount of caricatures of himself as a 'tough but respected' very muscular football coach type. This guy seems to want to make his class way harder than it needs to be just to prove a point about how smart he is.
I am a 4.0 student who studied 28+ hours for his tests and consistently received 50-60%. This professor created his own textbook that you are required to purchase and is a smart man that makes his tests unnecessarily difficult. By far the worst teacher I have had. I would not recommend taking his course under any circumstances.
Ron Cipcic is one of those professors you see on movies from the 1970s. Only 4 tests determine your grade and he does little to make sure you will even pass them. The book he wrote is complete buffoonery as all of the terms, equations, metaphors, etc are all made up and of his own creation. Do yourself a favor and do get a different professor.
Cipcic is very knowledgeable when it comes to economics. He expects hard work from his students who want a good grade in his class. Videos are available for studying. Extra credit is given to students who show up for class. No reason for his poor rating on this site. Do the self quizzes and assessments to prepare for the exams and you will be fine.
His class is way more difficult than an introductory course should ever be. The amount of material to memorize is crazy and the "textbook" is not very helpful. We went online due to corona and the class got 10x harder. He was not very considerate of things and was never friendly over email. I studied for 2 days for a test and got a 61% on it....
Im an A student and failed the first two tests this guy had. DO NOT TAKE HIM! Class is graded off three tests and a final, so not much room for error. Even if this was a university class, I would still say it is extremely hard. The fact its at kvcc and many people are dropping it is not okay.
Besides the self-centered economics textbook he wrote, which includes a muscular version of himself as a character, hes not a nice dude. He almost made a girl cry on the 2nd week of class. As a graduate, This is the only class I ever needed to drop, mostly because of the coursework, but partly because the just isn't a good instructor for a CC.
Before taking these 2 classes I was feeling a little scare and insecure due to his reviews. You have to read his books, watch the videos, and do work that he doesn't grade but you have to do it to learn the materiel. I felt that macro was harder than micro but I did better in macro. The class& tests are hard but if you study you will be fine.
Everything he teaches you is on the test. The book is set up in the same exact way as the tests. You need to study. He is a pretty funny guy overall, he doesnt take any excuses which is good The material I learned in this class is still right in my memory. I got my bachelors in business and the information I learned in this class has helped me
In no way would I say this class was easy, it challenged me. But I like a good challenge. Cipcic was great at responding to my emails and concerns, if you do the work he recommends and put in the time that you should to be committed to this class you WILL do well. It's not an easy A but I actually learned and retained the information.
Uses his own very confusing to read book to give weekly tests that only allow one minute per question.
His textbook is very organized, coherent, and is an easy read. He is very knowledeable. However, he relies soley on quizzes that you can't learn from and they rarely are comprehensive to what you practice and study, and there is no additional homework for grades. Curve balls everywhere and he often is not helpful.
Fall 2020 My GPA is 3.6. I always have to maintain my good grade, so I spend lots of time every week reading, watch videos, and do the self-assignment, but the weekly quiz and the test result make me so down. He graded unreasonably and didn't let us know us what we did wrong on the test. I've talked to him via email, and it wasn't helpful.
4.0 student. Economics is a difficult but he takes it to the next level by creating testing that is unnecessary for an introductory course. You are not able to see what you got wrong on tests or quizzes and you're graded solely on those two things. Should be removed from his position or taught that TEACHING STUDENTS is the objective.
Ron knows his stuff, but clearly can't teach it. His book is comprehensive, but it is hard to make it applicable to tests. No syllabus, no study guides, no hw. Weekly quizzes are random questions w/ no review or feeback. Exams have no study guides. Worst thing: his lectures are youtube vids that are AT LEAST 4 years old. He gets paid to do nothing.
My first two weeks of class he was very rude and condescending. Made reference to how I couldn't afford things because I missed the memo in the syllabus. The videos do not relate to the quizzes and the book doesn't break down how to solve the equations. I regret taking his class and he talks about himself in third person which is weird!!
He pedals personal responsibility but does not even proctor his own exams. This professor doesn't do anything in the class, he posts pre recorded lectures and then forces you to pay an extra $25 dollars for a proctoring service. He is a lazy and an awful teacher. This semester was forced online and he takes not consideration to that.
The class is entirely made up of quizzes and tests with no homework to balance a bad test grade. Quizzes are all 8 pts but only 4 questions, each worth 2 points, so if you miss one question you're already down to a 75%. I met for an office hour once but he was reluctant to meet with me because he didn't believe that I had watched all the lectures.
Ron does know what he is talking about, but definitely should not be teaching. I have never rated a professor, but I felt I had to go out of my way for this one. Ron bases his class on weekly quizzes and exams thats all. You get little to no feedback on your quiz or test results. He really doesn't care if you're successful. Don't take with him!!!
Ron Cipcic is one of the worst professors at valley. Lecture videos are terrible. Textbook does not do a very good job of explaining. It does have practice quizzes with the correct answers but does not explain how to get the correct answer. Class is graded on a few quizzes and tests. Each quiz is 8 points with 4 questions. Exams are proctored for $
One of the worst professors ive ever had in my life. First class ive ever failed. To take the exams, you have to pay money for a proctoring service. I should have dropped this course. If you can, take ANY other teacher.
I paid 42 dollars to RENT a textbook that the professor wrote that had multiple typos and grammar issues.
DON'T do the online course. Was straight-A student until this class. Read book, watched videos, and am still missing questions in the self-assessments. Answer guide doesn't show/explain how to arrive at the solution. Spent hours trying to get calculations correct, only to resort to Google. Quiz time limits too short. NOT LEARNING! Waste of time/$!!
Never take this class "NEVER". He expect us to read from his book which by the is not easy to retain information from. His quizzes are 10 minutes long, the video he posted does cover them. His exam question makes you feel that you have never studied this subject before. This course is extremely difficult to pass.
he honestly has mentioned that he expects most people to fail his class. He said most students will take it two to three times.
While I do agree with all the ratings as he can come across pompous and not caring, I truly believe he cares about the success of his students. His YouTube videos are very helpful. Be prepared for short quizzes and VERY hard exams but know he offers 40 bonus pts to offset them. He was responsive to all my emails and supportive when needed.
Ron comes off as very condescending and pompous. His quizzes and exams are not like the lectures. The lectures are also unnecessarily long; he takes 25 minutes to cover 5 minutes of material and it's a waste of time. I would absolutely not recommend. The material isn't very hard; Ron is just not good at teaching, at least online. No feedback.
Professor Cipcic's class is tough, but engaging Unstuck study can help with exam prep. Attend lectures, read the textbook, and you'll learn a lot, despite the challenges.
hes ok but he admits he though and that he makes the class hard, he wrote the book and its very bad at explaining things, and when I email his for help he tells me to read to book and go to office hours and he accused me of not even reading the book when I did.
He doesnt make it easy but you will learn a lot. Exams are hard and quizzes are not too bad. He's very passionate about Econ and if you go to office hours he could easily spend an hour talking about any topic you need help with. Since exams are hard he gives us 40 bonus points so you only need an 82% to get a 4.0. He's no easy A but you will learn
Mr. Cipcic is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. Making students solely read the text book as "learning" then having 10 minutes...AT MOST...to take your weekly quiz is unfair to students and doesn't let them retain and learn the information. Would never take a class of his again.
I had swapped to this class at the end of the drop/add deadline and when I asked Ron if I could complete the homework that I had missed since I joined the class late, he said no since there are no exceptions to missed work whatsoever. I think its a scam that he has you buy his book and is able to be of no help whatsoever.
