LOVED the class, he is very interesting and knows what he is talking about and wants to make sure everyone succeeds in the class. tests are easy if you go over his study guides and if you pay attention in class - which normally is hard for me but he was very very interesting so it was easy!

I took the TV course from him. He was very responsive and available by email and telephone. His note-taking guide helps to get the needed information for the exams. He is really personable and helpful.

This guy was the freakin best. Took the class when I was still in high school but still remember how great of a teacher he was. I still sometimes even watch him on channel 7 just for kicks!

Ron has won UVSC teacher of the year award from the students for the past 3 years. I still have yet to meet someone that does not like him. He is very interesting and one of the best teachers at UVSC. You can't fail his class, it's too easy!

The best teacher at the school. I learn a ton and have fun. All teachers should be like him. He doesn't pound info down your throat. He actually cares about his students, unlike most teachers at this school.

I sseriously had the best time in his classes... he really get's to know each one of his students the best he can and will do anything to make sure you understand every concept. Ron is the best! I had him for a telecourse and when I felt that I had studied the material well and still did not recieve a good grade all I had to do was e-mail and he called me over the phone that same day to give me advice! Who doesn't want a teacher like that! I recommend this class!

Is the best teacher I have ever had! He doesn't believe in textbooks. Class is very fun, entertaining and you learn a TON. He truly understands the student life and how busy it is. He care about you and your grade. He even will recognize you outside the classroom. His tests are ALWAYS in groups of 3. I have never gotten below an A on them.

Great, fun teacher, while still an easy A. Just go to class and take notes. Half the tests/quizes are word for word and in same order as the the study guide. All the others, he will tell you exactly what you need to know. Also, there is plenty of easy extra credit that you can get.

He's funny,interesting &cares about his students. Rather than enforcing attendance gestapo style, he made class interesting, dynamic, & easy. The class came because they were interested. This class was good, but not what I expected. I was hoping it would be more about finances, but it was more of the feelings of finances, in families. But he is a good guy, and really nice. Attendence was mandatory though. I hated that. But great guy, I would recommend him.

This class is CAKE!!!! It's almost too easy. If you don't get an A or B in this class then, you weren't doing something right.

Dr. Hammond is a really good teacher. He sets realistic goals for students achievement. He's also working on a free online text book. However, he is very mormon and conservative and that can influence his lectures.

Good class, attendance is mandatory. Learn alot if you want to, dont if you dont. He is not super conservative, he said he would have voted for Obama, if anything he is pretty balanced in his views. Good teacher, helps students get into grad school, one of the best at UVU.

SOOOO easy this was the first UVU class I took and I was only 16. It was no sweat, but still interesting. Hammond was awesome and made class great!!

I took the online course & it was pretty easy! The videos are a little outdated, but you will learn a lot. Ron is a great teacher! The quizzes come straight from the online reading, tests come straight from the study guide & he provides a lot of extra credit! EASY A.

Ron is a fantastic teacher. He makes class very interesting and is incredibly helpful if you have questions or concerns. I don't understand the students who say Ron imposes LDS views into his teaching because I didn't know that he is LDS until after I took the class, and I AM LDS. Overall, a great guy and great teacher. I highly recommend him.

Ron is a great and caring teacher. Yet, a lot of what he teaches in class in not on the tests. If you read the required text of the free text book he gives you and then take the class and occasionally show up to class you'll be fine. Good informational class--make sure it applies for you major or its a complete waste.

Textbook online and all quizzes based on that. Lecture interesting, but not necessary for tests. I did summer block, which was 6 1/2 weeks. A lot of writing and homework, but everything was on computer. I would recommend him.

Sociology of Family= He really is a great teacher and this class is very good. Those who say he alienates non mormons are idiots. Yes he refers to the LDS religion and church a lot but we are in Utah! I am a non active Mormon and I was never uncomfortable in this class. Applies to real life and I recommend him as a teacher.

And to those who piss and moan about LDS references... lighten up! Choose a different professor or move out of state.

Ron is the best professor I've ever had. He is so accepting of everyone no matter who you are. His classes are not stressful at all and he is really easygoing. If research isn't your thing then he is the perfect teacher to take it from.

Great instructor. Will assist students or pair you with another student if you have a hard time keeping up with the pace. Works hard to make sure students apply research rather than just read how to do research from a book. One of the best classes to take at UVU for research.

I liked taking this class online - It was humorous to see the more liberal/academic text book content juxtaposed with the more conservative (sometimes religious) content from the prof. The course was relatively easy.

I took this class online for my General's. Great professor, extremely nice TA! The busywork is OK, just keep up with it. I did about 1 assignment per day, or 1 test a week, sometimes 2 (and little quizzes). Great Extra Credit opportunities. Participate a lot in the discussions. buy the e-book it's cheap!

Ron is one of my favorite professors at UVU. By the time I graduate I will have had him for 4 classes. He is so helpful. He wants his students to succeed and he will do everything he can to help you. If you have the opportunity to take his class, DO IT!

I was nervous about the upper division research class. Turns out I had nothing to worry about. Ron is very clear in his instructions. He is helpful. You work in groups on your research and on a research paper and presentation. GO TO CLASS and you can get most of your work done in class. If you skip class you won't get an A.

He's easy, just show him that you care, take the quizzes and write a paper. even if its subpar you'll get an 100%. i never took notes and just read the news the whole class and i was fine. online text book:)free

This online class was one of my favorites! Extra credit was given for turning in assignments before the deadline. Also, this course was filled with multiple assignments per module and they were interesting and engaging. Can take the quizzes more than once to get the best score. Great course to take if you would like to get it done quickly!

Easiest class I have ever taken. I have taken both SOC 1010 and SOC 1100. You get extra credit for turning things in on time, you don't really need to be in class, and the textbook is free. Easy A class.

He's a super understanding guy, and he's GREAT if you're scared for college. However, he focuses more student success skills than he does sociology. To be honest, I'm still not sure what sociology is, but he's a nice guy, and it was a super easy A.

Took SOC 1200 online and was able to finish early. The class is go at your own pace, which is awesome. Lots of open book quizzes but you can retake them if needed. Lots of extra credit. No tests. I would recommend an up to date textbook. I enjoyed this class!

Dr. Hammond is the Bees Knees! He genuinely cares about his students' success and will bend over backward for you. Be good to him. He deserves it. His online class is relatively easy but still informative. You have to submit a research paper at the end, but he gives you an awesome guide to help that I still use for research papers now!

Dr. Hammond is awesome! When I was dealing with some health concerns in the middle of the semester, he was very understanding and did his best to help me complete the course. He's funny, knowledgeable and one of my favorite professors.

I enjoyed this class. It wasn't stressful but I did learn some. Lots of textbook reading, so definitely need to buy the textbook. I bought a later edition and did fine but did wonder if the quizzes would have been more word for word with the newest, it's hard to say. Take this class if you are looking for a low stress class you can plow through.

I was surprised that Professor Hammond provides a free book online for sociology 1010,and his other classes. The books are written by Ron Hammond Ph.D ,and are very accessible anytime ,and they are free. This class was very interesting since the begging, Professor Hammond has the ability to convey the material clearly with Power Point presentation

Online Advances Research option-Survey Research Design. Clear-cut and accessible online course design. It looks like a lot, but can be done quickly, and is not too hard. He gives you everything you need to succeed. I love Dr. Hammond's courses cause they are so do-able and straightforward and manageable. Gets back quickly to emails.

Super easy class. He gives out clear study guides that make testing easy. Plus, the tests can be done twice, and at home on canvas. Just make sure you use the study guide and the book. This class can be watched live at home and you'll get the participation points needed. Basically I never went to class ever and I got an A.

I took Dr. Hammond's class online and it was very informative and doable. There are a lot of assignments but @ the beginning the T.A gives you guidelines to finish the course in 3 weeks, which is def. a possibility. Lots of homework but not hard at all, took this class on a 15 cred. semester. Would take again!

He literally the best professor I ever had, his class is easy a lot the times he uses personal experiences to teach his students. You find yourself noticing a lot of things that happen in your family. He's also funny and accepts late work and will give you full credit as well as retake test and give you extensions, he is truly a gem.

This was the easiest class I took in college! I am a psych major and took soc 4040 for my advance research credit. All the quiz questions are directly out of the articles and the Ebook, and the rest is so easy! i finished the entire course in in one month and got a 99%. take it if you can, and get the credit done with!

Great class! Hammond is an easy grader and the chapter, video, and article quizzes are great and easy. This was definitely my easiest class this semester and I would take Hammond again in a heartbeat. Only had one paper to write as your final based off of three interviews you did throughout the semester.

Professor Hammond is great! He is pretty funny and makes class fun. Attendance counts towards your grade so you must show up. There are about 4 tests throughout and that's it. A few group projects that are super easy and a few little paper assignments.

He is such a good guy. This class is pretty easy, just follow the instructions. I've taken two of his classes and would again. You use your textbook for the quizzes. There is lots of homework, so keep up on it. His instructions and grading is easy to understand. There are quizzes almost every week.

I took Sociology 1010 and 1200 in one semester. He had an assignment that was the same in both classes but he only made me do the assignment (which was basically the final) once and gave me the same score for both classes. His lectures are really interesting and he'll work with you to help you get a good grade.

Super chill. As long as you go to class and finish assignments on time, you'll pass with a good grade. He gives you a link to the textbook online that is free, which is awesome. Tests are online and open book. He's funny and enthusiastic about the material and just cares that you enjoy the class as much as you can.

Professor Hammond was the greatest professor I have ever had, and it's not just because his class was easy. This class taught me so many things about marriage and family that I can take into my own life. This class' textbook is required but all the quizzes for it are open book and isn't a horrible read either. I would 100% recommend this class!

This is a very easy class. Literally, the first week of class he opened up EVERYTHING so you could take the 3 quizzes and the resume all at once and never have to do anything the rest of the semester. Lectures are fun to listen to, but is mostly a repeat of his Soc1200 class. LOTS of extra credit too. If you need the credit, or an A, go for it.

TAKE THIS CLASS. If you need to get the credit, take it. If you're going into social work, take it. Easiest class ever. He is hands down one of the easiest professors to work with I had. Provides online textbook for free! Easy A for anyone. He doesn't take attendance but you self report @ the end of the year for a grade. No FINAL!

Easy class. I actually learned a lot in this class and it was one of the better classes I've taken at UVU. No mid-terms or finals. An assignment or two every week but he walks you through them during class, which makes the course even better. Easy A, there's no reason you should get anything less than an -A in the class.

He was one of the few professors that legitimately made me interested in what he had taught. I have absolutely zero interest in going into the Sociology field but I now feel as though I have information that will benefit me in life. He's also a really caring and passionate professor.

Easy and fun class, you learn some great tips. I finished the class in a week, final & all. Many of the assignment instructions are out of date, by several years. This made the assignments harder to understand & complete without some frustration & lots of confusion but with some heavy searching, you can do it. Ron & the TA respond quickly to Q's.

The class was not hard but you did have to pay attention to detail on many of the surveys and excel assignments. They were more about paying attention to the directions. The quizzes were not difficult. He literally tells you how you can search the documents that you have the quizzes over & you have the option to retake. He was also quick to reply.

PROFESSOR HAMMOND IS MY IDOL! This may have been the best class I've taken in my college career. He does a menu style grading system, where you choose the grade you get by how many assignments you do. This has left me feeling so much less stress this semester and allowed me to enjoy learning. Highly recommend him!

Ron is hilarious & takes very good care of his students. The class was all about learning--not about the grade at all. Textbook is free & digital. Quizzes are easy. Very little homework. No final. This class I took with prof. Ron was an easy pass. Basically we had service hours which we could do virtually due to Covid. Do any quizes, homework and discussions and you will succeed in this class. His assignments are well spaced out due every two weeks which was perfect for me! Also no finals!!! Don't hesitate signing up for any of his courses.

Prof Hammond is one of my favorite professors at UVU! I took SOC1010 in high school and then this past semester, returned to take SOC1020 because I love his class. An easy A, but still lots of opportunity for learning and growth! The discussions involve proposing solutions to social problems, which were fun. Take one of his classes at least once!

TAKE THIS CLASS. I took this class as a concurrent enrollment student, easiest class I've ever had. Like in my whole life. He lets you work at your own pace. I finished all of the assignments within the first week.

This was a great class. They use the delphinium system, so you work towards an A. You have to get a certain number of points by the end of the semester with one due date, the last day of the semester. I was able to finish the class in one week. Professor Hammond is a great teacher and is willing to help if you ever need it (you probably won't).
