Wears the same thing every day. I think he's a robot. Usually doesn't seem to know what he's doing. Just follows examples out of the book.

the guy does wear the same thing everyday. white long sleeve shirt, blue vest, and khakis. his class is manageable if you do the hw and understand the material which sometimes he wont go over in class but still expect you to know. take if you want.

Only 1 person got an A. Several POP QUIZZES which = 20% of final grade. No calculator during exams -Doesn't know how to use a TI-83. Poor explanation on diff concepts. Yes same clothes daily but who cares - Totally frustrating experience.

He does not know what he is doing. When a student has a question about a problem many times he will ask someone in the class to answer because he doesn't know how to do the problem himself.

I have to admit that he can be somewhat difficult to understand. However, if you talk to him during his office hours, you'll find that whatever problems you may be having will work out. If you are not a math person by nature, this may not be the class f

Reminds me of the cartoon Doug, but overall was a bad teacher, does not explain when you ask questions, tells you to come during office hours, I have work! But if you show up and pay attention it makes it a heck of a lot easier too. Tests are so so. Boring

This guy is a joke. When it comes to asking questions in class, DONT!!!! He might go as far as explaining 15% of your question, then blows the rest off for you to figure out on your own. He has no personality and makes your math experience as unfitting as possible. Take my advice, SWIM AWAY!!!!!

Worst teacher I've ever had. Unfair and unclear. Doesn't explain anything. Had to teach myself everything. He's also strict on attendance even though it's not even worth being in class.

Ok the deal with Ito is that he is sooooo smart he has trouble dumbing down the concepts to students. Hes a frigging nuclear physics researcher on the side! This guy is way up there, but he needs to relate the material to his students better and explain things more clearly. Tough class with him.

Ron Ito is an good teacher if you get can understand his teaching methods, i hav him twice and the second time i understood him alot better, you just have to open your mind and really listen to him, if you dont like math, i wouldn't take him.

Calculus is a nightmare with him! There are many intelligent people out there that should NOT TEACH and he is one of those! Also, I learned the hard way that he is not flexible with attendence for anything! Don't come to class during the roll or later or it will count for 1/2 of an absence!

I haven't even finished the semester w/this prof., but i can already tell he is bad. We are already on section 3.5 while all the other classes are on section 1.5 He's obviously moving WAY TOO FAST!He doesnt explain things and dances around the answer!

This guy is a bad teacher. He could care less if you learn anything. He just goes throught he motions and if you fail - oh well. He absolutely sucks. He is bad. Stay out of his class you will fail. He is horrible and he ... get the point? I did not have a choice in being in his class - he was forced upon me - bad! Should be fired.

Thankfully I already know how to solve all of the problems in Math 60, because if I didnt, I would never understand his reasoning. I should have been placed in 110. Anyway, you must show work the way he teaches you to show it. You can only miss 3 days. Doesnt answer questions fully. HE DOES DANCE AROUND THE ANSWER!! Very anal. I would avoid.

I got stuck having Ito because the instructor I signed up for got sick a week before the fall semester, and took the semester off, and Ito took over. Ron Ito is terrible. He doesn't care about his students. He is very unhelpful. And he never changes, he wears the same white shirt and vest everyday. If you get Ito, you will pay the price.

Hmm..I've read the other reviews and I dont see a problem with this guy! He is adorable! He constantly asking if anyone needs help, he takes all the time you need at the board, he is one of the best math instructors I have had at Palomar.

Ito can definitely be intimidating and a bit unclear in the way he articulates, but he is thorough and fair, and will give you individual help if you take the initiative to seek it out. He definitely knows what he's talking about, and has a good sense of humor when his students aren't rude to him. Just don't be a jerk to him and its all good!

Professor is unorganized. He has been teaching for years and does not have good notes for his course. Consistantly erases his board because of errors and ruins your own notes. Class total score is a hundred points. Miss one on your exam and that is one point off your grade. You will pass with a C if you can teach yourself calculus. Poor quali

He insults his students during the class lecture. His attendance policy is absurd and inflexible, car accident, small children he doesn't care. He won't tolorate 'disruptions' i.e. tardys which are a 1/2 absence, each student can have 4 per semester.

Ron is a nice guy. All HW is due the day of each test, tests are pretty basic, only 100 possible points in class. Four 15 point exams, 20 point final and 20 points worth of HW. Sounds hard but his test cover the basic ideas.

Though I do not know my grade it looks like I will get an A.What I find to be substandard about this Professor is his grading methods.On exams there are 15 problems with each problem worth 1% of your FINAL GRADE.Each problem you either get 0% 1/2% or 1%.If you make a simple mistake,that does not reflect your knowledge of the material, you get 1/2%.

Ito is the smartest and best professors I've ever had.He explains concepts thoroughly and is very concise.He articulates well and gives great examples.A truly intelligent professional who wants his students to succeed.I would recommend professor ito to other students.As long as you listen and take the class seriously one will not fail.

Professor Ito is a true master in his field. He respects his students and wants us to succeed. His teaching style is quite impressive in that he is very organized, clear and precise, and is well prepared to answer any question we might have. Ok I'm a math major and this guy made me hate math. He is the worst at teaching upper level math. He'll seriouly answer that he's not sure time after time. His grading policy dooms you to fail too!! PLEASE AVOID!! oh and he has NO office hours

He is rude. You cant ask him a "what if" example because he will say "but thats not whats on the board"-very literal. VERY DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND. he doesnt like to FINISH examples. HE HATES DISRUPTIONS. He does go over questions at the beginning of class, which makes it easier to understant. he cant teach. Nice guy though.

I would not recommend Ron Ito for any math class. He?s impatient to the point of arrogance. He?s not compassionate; doesn?t care if you learn. He actually embarrasses students for asking questions. No syllabus- he provides test dates & homework is assigned each class. No extra credit available. Clearly math comes easy for him-teaching doesn?t.

I'm currently taking Mr. Ito's class and I have to say he is a terrible professor. I would not reccommend him to anyone. He goes way to fast. Each class you're learning new material and he doesn't seem to care if you uderstood the material given the night before. You are basically teaching yourself in this class at 100 mph.

Very unhelpful for students who don't understand material. Can seem rude or arrogant when students ask for help during class. The only "office hours" offered is if class is ended early. Suitable instructor for students who have a better understanding of material.

Professor Ron Ito is extremely intelligent. He cares about his students and he wants us to succeed. He is clear and precise. Explains the material well and is very organized. Some students have potential but don't try hard enough. Professor Ito is willing to help those who help themselves. He's a young professor who thrives for excellence.

RON ITO IS SUCH A PRICK! Ive been in college 3 yrs & never been treated like a HS student as much as he treated us. He FLIPS if u r 1 min late! He FLIPS if he sees a cell. He will make u feel stupid for questions. I hope somebody slaps him one day. SUCH A PRICK.

Professor Ito is super smart. He knows his math and he articulates well. You just have to listen to and understand his teaching style. Very professional in his demeanor. He is an excellent asset to the college. I earned an A in his class. Don't understand why some students don't like him. Those are the ones that are just lazy and don't even try.

Mr.Ito is the most wisest professors I know. He is a math genius. You just have to listen carefully and one can master math problems easily. He answers questions clearly and makes sure his students understand. He wants us to succeed and makes math a fun learning experience. He is an awesome asset to the college.

This guy is a joke. He makes kids feel dumb for asking questions and is very unclear when you ask him to show you how, he frequently stops in the middle saying "you should know the rest" go to the tutoring center and you'll be fine. Tests are easy.

Not only is he strict about the DUMBEST stuff but he treats you like you're a toddler! He expects you to be on his level for everything. He'll ask you to give him your problems then say "you should know this!" The only good this is he'll make you giggle at his blue vest & that he is EXACTLY like dr kuni from knocked up. He should teach high school!

Super smart math professor. Answers questions clearly and helps those students who are willing to learn. Takes time to listen to the students and explains lectures with full clarity. Exams are well written. Students need to appreciate a fine college professor like Mr. Ito. Cool guy and down to earth. Young looking and can pass as a student.

Professor Ito is an excellent teacher. He is clear, concise and eager to help students that are serious about their academics. His teaching style is very bottom line and his tests are easy. Coolest professor I know. His class is easy. Lectures are clear. Answers questions completely. Very bright and knowledgeable. Knows his stuff. Helps students who are having difficulty. Treats us like mature adults and not kids. Again, very cool professor. As long as you listen, you will pass!

Do NOT waste your time. This guy will flip if you are literally 2 minutes late. He makes you feel stupid, half the time he doesn't teach according to the book, and he teaches methods that aren't even in the text. I am a 3.7 GPA student and have, as said below, never been treated so much like a High School student. don't take it : )

This guy is the 2nd worst teacher I've ever had. Him and I have sorta had it out several times. He will treat you like you are stupid if you ask him a question although he tells you to not be afraid and ask. Don't ever be late by a minute, he'll also embarrass you as I've seen him do to other students. He's anxious and also teachers too fast...

This guy knows his stuff. He's very easy to understand, and he MAKES time to answer questions that you have, which is something you should take advantage of. His tests are very fair. This professor is very strict on tardiness, so don't be late. As long as your not a slacker, this class is very good. I really enjoyed his class. He knows his math!

A very strict prof LITERALLY! Very anal about attendance, he counts how many people are in the class before and after. He explains things very well! But dont ever ask a question he will make you feel like your dumb! He is really strict on h/w and marks you down for alot of things on the test that is how i failed his class. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS!

He is VERY VERY picky in how you do the math problems. When asked a SIMPLE question only requiring a one word answer, yes or no, he will go off on a rant about why you shouldn't do this or why you should do that. It's very annoying. He does know the math material well, though. Just ridiculously picky and strict. Attendance is a must.

He is a very helpful and smart professor. Homework is quite long, but it is due until the day of each exam. There are 4 exams, and one final. I always did bad in math, but he makes it so easy. All you need to do is study the notes taken in every class, and do your homework. To pass your exams just study the notes, they're exactly alike (:

Terrible teacher. Trust me on this one - I showed up to class literally one minuet late, he didn't even get to the attendance and he marked me late. I spent 6-8 hours on the homework and when I went to turn in I asked for a paper clip and he told me if it wasn't stapled I get zero credit. Teaching method sucks, book helps more.

Avoid this teacher at all costs. He is the least helpful teacher I've ever taken. He's rude to students, and is unnecessarily hard in his grading. He gave out C's to students that would have a 4.0 otherwise. I normally excel in math, but his class is not set up for students to succeed. Take this teacher at your own risk!

If you ask a question, he'll spend 5-10 min explaining why he wont answer it, claiming that you should already know it. No one wanted to have to be the one to ask questions, because of how smug and mocking he was. 13 people took the final. 100 points in the entire semester in a fast paced class with no help and no room for error.

DO NOT TAKE This guy is not a teacher he is a as master. Assigns homework to be turned in the night of the exam. All comments of poor quality teaching are absolutley on track he flips out, spends too much time explaning to death an item. Don't ask him a question about the homework all he will tell you is see me privately after class. Worst EVER

He is a very strict teacher! He assigns 10 sections of homework which you have to turn in before each exam(4 exams plus the final) Attendance is MANDATORY & yes he can be a butt when it comes to answering questions. But the class isn't impossible the grading is not bad just do the homework and you will be rdy for the exam. YOU HAVE TO TRY TO PASS!

He is strict. Homework is reasonable. A lot but not too much. Test and exam not very difficult, but he is very detailing. He will take you 1/2 point for your small mistake. He said there is no extra score. But he give when he grade you.

Very very very strict and detail orientated. you wont last in you cant adjust to new high standers. dont try at all if you dont have the 6 hours a week for hw. if your up for a challenge go for it. i liked him just because he didn't like stupid kids. hardest simplest 4 units. dont take if your struggling woth math. where is the spellcheck on this

He's one of the best math teachers I've had. He is strict but it's simple like be on time to class and don't use your phone. He's really good at explaining math and paying attention to detail. Mr. Ito is a strict teacher but he's very good at what he does and very professional. He's your instructor, not your friend so dont think you can fool around in his class and pass anyway. Dont take his class without brushing up on your basics, dont be late, dont ask stupid questions and dont take him if youre not serious.

Honestly the reviews scared me when I took this class, but he really isn't a bad at all. Yeah, he is very strict with how he wants you to do certain problems, but he is very clear. As long as you do the homework and study the tests for the final you should do fine. Seriously he isn't that bad, not a too approachable guy, but he knows his stuff.

I took his fast track course(lots of work)and i ended up with a B+ in the class all because of professor Ito. Ive never understood math so clearly until i took his class. His notes are very clear, and it follows the homework assignments exactly. If you skip class and homework assignments you wont pass. He is rude and makes you feel stupid tho.

He likes things his way and if its not he will grade down. Tough grader and assigns plenty of homework. Overall he is pretty understandable and teaches well just very nit picky. Oh and don't be late, not even by a second or you will get half an absence.

Absolutely horrible. Avoid at all costs for College level Algebra. If you ask a homework question or a question about his lecture, instead of helping you he will just make you feel stupid in front of the whole class and sorry you even asked for help in the first place. Must follow his "way" on the test or its wrong. And his way is very complicated.

He is very rude to students who have questions. Every question wrong on the tests, homework, and final are a percentage 1% of your total grade. (100pts...100%) Homework is fine if you don't get behind but overall horrible class. His way of teaching is "my way or you will get it wrong..."

The Math side he is very clear, although at the end of the day it doesn't matter if you know the material inside and out he will mark the problem wrong (even if your answer is right) if you did not do it EXACTLY how he wrote it on the notes. Oh and if you miss ONE problem on a test that's 1% off overall grade. AVOID

Absolutely the worst professor Ive ever seen. He goes very quick, skipping and refuses to go over anything that he feels "is prior knowledge" or " Should already be known". It is his way or the highway, and unless you do everything the way he expects, you are wrong. Don't even bother asking, it will just turn into an irrevelent ramble y he is rght

Smart and humble professor. Very personable and down to earth. You can tell he loves teaching. Some people are intimidated by him but he really is a cool prof. If you listen and do all the assigned schoolwork you will pass. It's that easy. I recommend Prof Ito. Highly intelligent and friendly.

He dosnt really explain he just does problems all class. Doesn't go exactly by the book but gives HW from the book. He's very hard to approach about HW and if you don't know what to do he says to go back or you should already know cus we already learned it. He's not very helpful. Not good for people who need step by step help.

He's good at explaining new material. However he's not very helpful when you ask questions. He will make you look and feel dumb in front of everyone when you only have good intentions. As for myself I don't really care about a professor's attitude but he is really discouraging. If you're the type to ask questions DON'T DO IT.

This was an 8-week class over the summer. Great math teacher. He explains it well, and gives you partial credit when you make simple mistakes. The homework assignments, tests and final are worth 100 points. 100 points 100% in the class. No extra credit offered.

Professor Ito is a very no-nonsense, straightforward professor. He demands his students' respect. He's the best math teacher I've ever had, and he is willing to help you out - although I recommend not asking in front of the whole class. He only likes going over something once, so pay close attention, and do not ever be late.

Very clear with his explanations but a totally unsympathetic guy. There was a fire that prevented HIM from getting to class, and students went home after waiting for an hour(we emailed him w/o a response & talked to the office ladies). He still berated us for it. Good teacher but insufferable person. The class bonds over his unreasonableness.

Has a general disdain for teaching or his students. Be careful asking him questions in class, he puts on a wide eyed innocent face and says you can ask him anything but then is downright RUDE or belittling to the person asking the questions. "You should know that already" is a common answer. If you approach him privately he is way more receptive.

Professor Ron Ito isn't all THAT bad.. you can tell he enjoys his job, he loves teaching math and he's good at it. The only thing that I don't like is that you can't ask him questions! If you do, he'll usually make you feel stupid, and he never actually answers your question. He'll help you up to a certain point, and then make you do it yourself.

His class is tough and he may not be the most approachable teacher. However, I did learn a lot and I like his way of teaching. He's very straight to the point. No surprises on the test. I dropped him after the third class. He still hasn't posted a syllabus and went on a 10 minute shame rant for someone asking when the first exam is. Everything after the first 3 chapters of class was self taught utilizing YouTube. Any individual who asked a question was surely to be condescended upon. If you made multiple errors when completing a problem he will tell you about the first error and tell you to figure the rest out on your own. The material is made harder than it needs to be. Dont!

Had Ron twice for 110 & 115. Purposely chose 115 with him as prof. Great teacher and really only will have a problem if you're not tough. He's there to teach, and if you pay attention and do your work, he teaches well. Doesn't tolerate stupid questions, so make sure you listen. Don't procrastinate, do ALL hw, study, show up, & you'll be just fine.

Don't take his class! He was extremely rude when I tried to discuss my exam with him, he wouldn't sign my drop/withdrawal slip, and he was incredibly impatient with a different student in class whose first language wasn't English. I took a FW from this class and received an A grade when I took it the following semester with a different professor.

I took his calc 2 class after not taking a math class for 6 years and got an A. He's an excellent professor to take if you really wanna work hard and learn, his tests are heavily based on his lectures so study those like gospel. Also, he's way more reasonable than I expected him to be based on his reviews here. Just be a good student.

Do not recommend taking calc 3 in 6 weeks. There is 4 tests and a final each with 15 questions worth 15 points and 4 homework assignments. The amount of work was absurd and difficult to master in such a short amount of time. This is my first B I have gotten thus far. Gives partial credit on almost every question not correct. Took 6 week online calc 3 class from him. 3 hour lectures were boring, but they are recorded and he gives you the lecture notes. Exams were nothing insane, as long as you have good notes and did the homework you should be fine. He also gives partial credit on most problems so there should be no issue passing the class. I like his teaching style, but not him. His lectures are organized and he makes what he wants from you very clear. He does not allow any electronics in class and provides no resources if you miss a lecture. Can be extremely irritable, wasting 20 minutes lecturing the class if someone is tardy. As someone who had usually always had an A in my math classes, leaving the class with a D was surprising to me. I admit that I did struggle a little, but this professor was such a tough grader. I echo similar sentiments towards this professor as other reviews. Someone may be like me where I had no other choice but to take this professor. Math has always been my game, but Prof. Ito overcomplicates the material and often seems clueless about the lesson himself. The grading system is brutal. 15-point final in a 95-point course, little chance of recovery if you don't do well initially. No dedicated time for office hours. Avoid at all costs.
