I have had Prof Johnson for both MGMT 301 and BA 342. Material in both classes is not difficult. Taking time to memorize for the exams is what is difficult. I recommend... 1. summarize notes 2. watch exam review and read the parts of the book specifically mentioned in this Weekly quizzes (easy), packback post, 4 project, 3 exams and extra credit.
I don't know why this guy gets so much hate he is the man. The class is not hard and he makes the lectures enjoyable. Don't be afraid to take this guy because of his rating, the class is a fun time.
Prof. Johnson makes the class as easy as he can for you while still teaching you. He offers guided notes for each lecture that make the exams pretty easy. Good guy who loves PSU.
Guy is a gem. Loves Penn State and tries his best to make lectures interesting. Guided notes packet makes it super easy to follow along and his exam prep materials make it super know what to expect on the exams. Tons of extra credit too. Only downside is you don't see your grade until the end of the semester. Overall, amazing guy and great class.
This class asynchronous is a breeze if youre willing to put the time in and watch the classes etc. Tests are a lot but always curved. Extra credit is easy and puts a big buff to your grade (30 points).
Prof. Johnson was hands down my favorite professor this year. He offers a ton of extra credit opportunities. If you watch the lectures and take his exam reviews seriously, you will get A's. He makes it easy to know what to expect on the exams. He gives you a note guide which also makes it so easy to follow along with the lectures.
I recommend taking his class. Lots of extra credits and also he's very passionate.
Class is way too hard. Tests are impossible to do well on.
Tests are nearly impossible to do well on. Class is way too hard.
He reminds me of Micheal Scott, he cracks jokes constantly throughout lectures. He does a really good job with lectures and everything you learn is common sense. The exams though are pretty difficult because almost all the answers could work for the question. There were 3 papers, averaging 2 pages, and mandatory attendance.
He really loves himself. A lot of the lectures were him talking about how great of a person he is which is annoying. The class was easy though and exams were online. You get extra credit for attendance, and there were papers but you basically get 100% if you put in any effort at all.
Prof. Johnson's lectures were great, you can tell he truly cares about the topics he teaches. Sometimes his goofy mannerisms and jokes get to be too much, but he knows what he talks about. His tests can be hard, but as long as you write down examples and watch his review video, you'll do fine. He also offers a ton of extra credit--50+ points.
Ron Jon really cares about what he teaches. The problem is that he cares a little too much and makes the exams very difficult. Exams are super wordy and have very specific questions that are said maybe one time in a lecture and never again. Hes a nice guy but he spends too much time talking about how great of a person he is which is very annoying.
The easiest smeal class I have taken so far and barely put time in. Pay attention in class and put some effort in and you will be fine. He didn't curve every exam, but he did when needed. Use all the opportunities for extra credit and take notes on the videos in class!! Exam questions are worded weirdly but he practically gives the answers in class
I don't understand some of the hate he is getting on here. I took him last semester and it was one of the easiest classes ever. There were four tests including the final, and they were all multiple choice and open book/note. There was one project where you have to research a business, but it was not very challenging or time consuming.
Take notes on the examples he gives during class and be able to tie them to the appropriate topics. Not terrible for a 300 level class. Exams online and open book/notes. Four exams make up most of your grade. Extra credit opportunities up to 30 points when each exam is 200 points. Introduce yourself to him at the beginning of the class.
He is only grading you with 4 exams (80% of your grade), 1 research project, packback questions every week (impossible to get full credit) and attandance. If you fail one of the tests, impossible to pass this class. Also, tests are online, but if you do not know the answer (really specific) you cannot find anything on quizlet or google.
This is class consists of 4 exams which are not too hard if you go to the lectures, take good notes, and spend a decent time studying. There are PackBack assingments and few other grades that are beneficial in getting your grade up. Johnson is a cool guy who is truly passionate about what he does. Perfect professor to take for MGMT 301.
Ron Jon is overall a great professor at Smeal. He is a LITERAL game show host. He gives students so many opportunities for extra credit. You have to take handwritten notes. He makes you get the course packet. His exams are open notes. His class lectures are fun and required, but he usually wastes about 20 minutes talking about random things.
Humorous guy that always has interesting stories during his lectures. his exams cover every single topic that is covered in class so you either need to take really good notes or have really good memory because his lecture slides are not posted until before the exam. His papers are relatively easy and he provides a lot of extra credit opportunities.
If you have at least one brain cell, you'll be able to pass and even ace Professor Johnson's class. He very clearly lays out the course format and his lectures are very engaging and help you remember a lot of the material.
RonJon was AMAZING! He was funny and interesting so you will be engaged in his lectures. His exams can be a little tricky, but you will pass. I recommend reading/skimming the textbook! You will also want to make a friend or two in class because he encourages you to talk to your classmates.
all exams are online and open-note. he posts a study guide before exams and tells you basically everything that will be on them. he makes class fun with lots of videos and has guided notes to make it easy to follow along. there are also a ton of extra credit opportunities. attending class is important but he does online class on fridays!!
He is a great guy, very personable. Exams are solely based on class so if you dont go your guessing on the tests. Only reason I didnt do as well was because I didnt attend all classes and his tests are weird wording. He writes them like a story. Many in class examples on the test. 3 projects, very easy, bring up your grade.
Ron Jon is seriously awesome. I was NEVER bored once in his lectures. Super engaging and funny. Exams can be difficult but make sure to take good notes and you will be fine. Flashcards help. He is a right of passage for PSU business students.
this class was pretty difficult but as long as you pay attention, take notes, read the book, and do the online videos you should be good. The first exam was a little difficult because i didnt know what i was excpecting the questions are written in a openended format so be prepared. The lectures were good though pretty entertaing.
love Ron Jon! 3 essays, and 3 exams, all pretty easy.
Professor Johnson's classes are usually entertaining, and his interview and job tips are quite helpful, but you need to attend every class or else you will miss A LOT. His tests are honestly harder than my 400-level classes, and they are extremely detailed and memorization-centered. Be prepared to study.
Would not recommend if you are bad at comprehending confusing questions on exams. Offers easy extra credit, and has engaging lectures, but the exams ruined the whole class for me.
Ron Jon is the absolute GOAT. All exams are online and open note, he provides a detailed study guide covering all exam topics, if you study that you will get a good grade. Class sessions are engaging and fun. The guided notes simplify comprehension. There are numerous extra credit chances. Attend class!! Friday classes are online.
The material is easy to understand, not much studying needed. Ron Jon is very energetic and keeps class interesting. He gives a lot of real-world advice. You have 3 projects which take some time to do. Exams are taken online and open-note. No phones in class, handwritten notes only. Type your notes before exams and you'll do fine.
Late review, but this class is easy to do well in if you come to class with the note packet he suggests at the beginning of the semester, and take notes in it. You have three projects and exams online, but you have ample time to prepare for them. If you don't go to class, you will struggle to do well on the exams not to mention attendance is taken.
He doesn't teach you anything, he legit just yaps. MGMT 301 is the most usleless class you will ever take. I got an A in this class but omg it is a huge waste of time. This guy will yap the entire class about things that aren't on the exam i swear to god he really does. Ron jon is a great guy but this class will seriously not teach you anything
Had him for 301 and 342. As long as you go to class and take notes in the packet you will be fine. You won't remember anything from these courses when your done so just get through them.
Professor Ron runs a fun, engaging class with open-note exams. Though lectures can be tangential, the study guide and extra credit make up for it. Unstuck AI was a game-changer for preparing.
Prof Johnson was a great professor. Be ready to take lots of notes because the course content is heavy. As long as you attend and participate in class you will be fine. Exams are content heavy but the extra credit makes up for it. Technology isn't allowed, but his course packet with slides helps lot with the note taking.
If Ron John has a million fans, I am one of those fans. If Ron John has one fan, I am that one fan. If Ron John has no fans, I am dead. I think it's time we start putting Ron John in the GOAT debate, and I don't mean the greatest teacher ever. We should strongly consider Ron John as the greatest human ever. Get ready for the time of your life.
Great guy, terrible teacher. Does not connect the material from the book to his classes well enough for you to understand. His lectures are literally just a bunch of random stuff from the world and he tries to connect it back to management but it doesnt make sense most of the time. The test are very hard for no reason
Professor Johnson is amazing and if you have the option take him for MGMT 301. Attendance is necessary and mandatory because he doesn't post the lecture notes online, but he keeps class super engaging and it goes by fast. Take advantage of the extra credit. All tests are open note. He is the absolute best.
As long as you play the game right, you will do great
Ron Jon is super silly and is very upbeat. It is a joy to be in his class daily, as he starts his lectures with some type of dancing/fun/singing video to lighten the mood- and it does. He doesn't allow electronics in class which can be annoying but lowkey is nice to disconnect and helps me lock in. His exams are so hard tho-lots of mumbo jumbo.
Love Ron John! Great lectures, even without electronics. Notes are practically fill in the blank with his course packet. Dont buy the book its useless. The 4 tests are pretty easy since they are open note. 1 project that is also easy. I would take this class every semester if I was allowed to thats how great Ron John is. Fridays are asynchronous.
Love this guy. He is so silly and always tries to engage students in the lectures since he does not allow electronics. Notes are fill in the blank and if you study and go to lectures you will do well in the class. Definitely recommend him for MGMT 301.
People will say hes a good prof bc hes funny + class is pretty easy but if you actually wanna learn this content take a diff prof. His exams make no sense and everyone uses AI on them. No hw but his riddle questions on the exams will tank your grade. I honestly learned nothing all year. His class is the epitome of a "business" class. We do nothing
Ron John made class fun. 4 exams, the "final" only has stuff covered in the 4th module. Exam questions are tough. Read them from the bottom to the top! Study the exam review video he creates. One easy project and no hw. A lot of what he talks about in class will be on exams. Take great notes. Do extra credit, it's an easy 5% added to your grade.
Class was relatively easy, exams are super wordy and throw you off. Between extra credit and assignments for mastery, you can get a 10-12% boost on your grade. Exams are about 60-65% of the class. Nice guy, lectures get slightly boring with no tech.
Ron jon was a great professor. One of my only classes this semester that I enjoyed going too. He has a no technology rule but the class goes by so fast you barely notice. His exams are all online and easy but the questions are vey wordy and filled with random information not pertaining to the questions.
Listen to him. Study exactly how he says. Please trust me. If you do bad on the first exam you'll see. Go and talk to him too.
Second time taking a class with him. BA is literally very similar to mgmt, however DO THE EXTRA CREDIT it boosted me up from a b to an a-. Guy is probably the most iconic professor in Smeal and there are 3 tests all on canvas and 3 projects and that is it
Professor Johnson is easily one of the best Professors at PSU. If you really think about it, this guy is the definition of walking knowledge. He gives great advice and has great lectures. Exams are tough... BUT, if you review a week in advance, and REALLY understand the concepts, you will do good. His lectures are awesome.
