He lectures non-stop. There are three tests and MAYBE 2 or 3 questions come from lecture, the rest is reading. His tests are half m/c and half essay. He is very monotoned, and can lull you to sleep.
very....very....very...very...boring.You will be bored and drifted off into space.
One of those teachers that you wonder why they are teaching. He seems much more concerned with how many A's B's and C's he's giving. On the test essays he will take away enough points to ensure many people don't recieve an A.
Very non-professional. His tests are extremely hard and he does not offer any information that would help a student in any way. He has you, take a test to see if on-line classes are right for you. Clearly, he has not taken the test for instructors!

He is very boring and makes the entire class seem like torture. His personal ticks are also very distracting.
Oh....my....gosh. Could not stand this class! Had to retake it and took my D to an A with a different teacher. He stutters, and flutters his eyes. He rambles on and ON about stuff not remotely related to the material tested over. Grades HARD. I'm an A student who got a D. Do not recommend!
This guy is horrible! Major stuttering, very boring in class, does not care at all about his students, extremely rude, NO REVIEW at all before tests, all tests are 25-50 multiple choice and at least 1 essay sometimes 2, that account for half of your grade on test. EVERYONE in class HATES this guy!
This guy sux! Very hard and his lectures will put you to sleep. He can't say 1 sentence without stuttering at least 10 times. You can't skip class either because he will drop you. Tests are very hard and don't even cover what he goes over in class. I wouldn't take this guy even if its ur last option
The class is not as bad as everyone says. I have had him for 2 semesters of history and passed and am passing with an A-plus. People just need to write down everything important that he says. They DO NOT have to read the entire book, just the key terms he gives in his identification list. Easy Class
Oh man this guy is boring, test are not hard at all. I just want to get my moneys worth of staying awake in the class, very hard to, bring a pillow
pretty tough prof, but if you do the terms and read a little when doing them you can pull off a's. for the essays, know presidents and what party they belong to!! there's opportunity to do well and he'll let you know (xtra credit). He's interesting but real nice! Give him time.
DONT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!.. I HAVE STRAIGHT A'S IN ALL MY OTHER CLASSES AND NOW I AM ABOUT TO DROP THIS CLASS! ONLY TWO TESTS AND A FINAL.ALL HAVE HARD ESSAYS. TAKES 3 WEEKS TO GRADE... TALKS A LOT ABOUT NOTHING!
He looks above the class when he talks to you. He has a stuttering probelm which i know is not his fauly, but he still has it. He is an extremely HARD teacher, you have like three tests and you better be able to write an essay. But the sheets he gives before the unit are the questions on the tests
Will make comments such as,"Twain WAS the greatest post-civil war writer - there will be no discussion on that",and then rant at students for not "participating" in class discussion. Rambling lectures that jump around nonsensically.Tests contain enough nit-picky,MINOR details to prevent A's.Grumpy.
BORING! He does look over the class when he talks and he stares out the window a lot to. Is he even teaching. Lawhon is awesome
BORING!!! Had him for a winter mini early in the morning... put me right to sleep and he stares you down as if you did something wrong... I suggest Lawhon or Morrison, both are awesome.

This guy is not as bad as what everybody is saying. He's very interesting and is easy if you come to class, pay attention, and do the work. Of course if you skip class or sleep in class it won't be easy and he won't be helpful! You don't deserve help if you skip class without good reasons and/or don't do the work. Do the work and you should pass!
Not good! Horrible! This teacher is not clear about what we need to learn or what is important. Overwhelming! DO not take this teacher!
I think he made up half the questions on his tests and WHO gves a 50 point essay question for the first test and gives 5 different ? for "one" essay questions???
His class is easy! He puts all you need to know on the board!! Not the best attitude but he is easy.. and little boring but PAY ATTENTION you can pass.. I did with a B
Rude and completely unhelpful. Took him for an internet course and got very snotty and unecessary responses to any email I sent. Requires you to come to campus for exams... what's the point of taking a class online, then??!
This teacher sucks and he's a little fruity. I had him twice and dropped both times. His lec is thourough but boaring. A few do well in his class. Overall DON'T take him.

He was so fun and easy to take all you had to do was study for your quizzes and your test he would give you lectures to help you and he would give you the terms and identifications list for the test this was his online class but if you dont listen he wont be babying you he easy enough as it is so just do the studying.
to put it mildly the guy is a jerk. i took Lyde and got a B both times and i had to drop this fool because I was failing. stay away from this jerk!
Wow! Good luck staying awake in this class. Grades very hard and is extremely rude. I am an all A student and worked extra hard for this guy, just to get a low B. Take someone else.
Dr. Law is AMAZING! He loves American History! Yes, he can be a little pompous but he's there to teach you the history of your country, not to take you to the drive-in for a happenin time. The tests are hard. Do the reading when it's assigned. Like a challenge? You'll love Dr. Law!
boring! and he repeats himself two or three times IN THE SAME SENTENCE. i don't know if anyone felt it, but i felt as if he spoke to us as if we had low i.q.'s or something. i dropped before the first exam because i had no idea what kind of test to prepare for. he put me to sleep as well as half of my class
This is a wonderful professor who loves teaching history. He is not boring, and is very kind. He expects college students to act like adults. Three multiple choice tests are given. Do not miss a lecture. Read the book. He drops a test grade and offers extra credit. I took him for 1301 and 1302 and received an A both times.
This teacher is no bueno. He repeats himself constantly, the same 4 word sentence and it doesn't make any sense. but he repeats it over and over. His notes are not structured. He doesn't speak intelligently at all, and I was constantly lost during class. Everyone was.
dr law is a hard but fair class do your work read your book do your key identifications and attend class if your structured in your studies he is the prfessor to take took him for 1301 and 1302 at the same time very dificult put passable if you but in the work. life isnt given to you on a silver platter.
helpful, nice, very knowledgable in history. could tell you practically everything. great professor. lectures all class though and don't try to follow along in the book cuz he skips around, read it though. tests have essay question so study for them. great prof..i'm takin him again for 1302
The best teacher ever!!! I took him online and he is really clear on instructions. He gives you what you need to succeed in his class and is very clear on instructions. If I were you I would take him!!
HE IS EXTREMELY AWESOME!! He is very clear on his instructions and is there to assist you when needed. I like the fact that he was consistent with his assignments and not constantly changing them. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!!
I learned more from this Prof.than any other. This Prof. works hard to make sure you get the most important info. in the time you have. I just registerd early to make sure to get him! **P.S. The negative info posted has to be from students who wanted a free ride and didn't get one! He is a Historian and very professional Instructor.**
I would not take this professor! Everyone in my class agreed that he's a little out there. I get very distracted just from looking at him. Repeats himself a lot which makes it very hard to focus. Dont take him.
This dude is weird! I think he is in love with History. The class was easy, at least the 3 or 4 days I did in fact go. The tests are weird because half is multiple choice and the other is an essay. If you are good at BSing you can easily pass this class even if you barely show up for lecture.
I am taking this class online and he makes the tests really clear before you take them. He will do 10 definitions and 2 essay questions online. He will post your grade under blackboard within 3-4 days. there is alot of reading you have to do for the class because it's online. Overall I DEFINITELY recommend him.
He makes San Jacinto College look extremely bad! First class (and last!) taken at San Jacinto College and I worked so hard to answer his essay test questions, but they were not adequate enough for him. I listed every term learned in the content in his test essays in a scholarly manner and received a B in the course. He is un-dedicated to teaching!
I took his online class, both historys! There was 3 quizzes 3 tests and 3 discussion boards in each class. verrrry easy and great teacher!
Im taking him online and it's been nice, he tells you what will be on the tests, 3 quizzes 3 tests, and discussion boards. I recommend him, i'm taking him for history 2! Tests do have half essay but if you study you will do well
My whole San Jac career I have made nothing but A's. This professor for some reason or another doesnt give A's. When we took the tests I used examples, knew the defenitions and all that jazz, he just doesnt give A's. Maybe some teacher in the past didnt give him an a or something iuno
He is not a good professor in my opinion. He repeats himself a lot and no matter how hard you try to answer his essay questions he stills gives you a B in the class. He seems like a nice guy but his teaching style is horrible and lecture is extremely boring. I would not recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn anything about history.
I took This Professor for 1301 and 1302....He does Lecture all the class and the lectures are a little boring.....but he only has 3 test all semester 2 regular test and th final.....i made a 87 on the first 67 on the second and an 80 on the final and i got a B for the semester.....no bookreport (optional)....
I signed up for an online course he teaches and immediately regretted it. He refuses to reveal how he will give the 3 tests because he "still hasn't decided." His instructions and responses are very vague. The replies that he's given me via email show just how unwilling he is to help his own students succeed.
I am taking his online history course and it is pretty bad. He doesn't seem to care about his students, he basically sets us up for failure. He tells us to study one thing, and tests/quizzes over something different. You can't get an A in this class, so you might as well not even try.
i took him for the online class history before 1877. This class is all about getting the grade bassed on your personal effort. He gives the reading assignments which you MUST do! The test and quizes are essay only and he is a very strick grader. I got a B and worked my butt off. if you want an easy A go somewhere else.
Mr. Law was kind of a boring teacher. He gets off subject really easily and his test questions are completely different than the study guide suggests. I took this class at 8:30AM and it was difficult to stay awake. He is very soft spoken and his teaching style is unexciting. I passed the class with a B but had to work for it.
I'm taking is 8:30am class and it is terribly boring!! Everybody is asleep all class a
I'm taking is 8:30am class and it is terribly boring!! Everybody is asleep all class and he basically talks to himself. Hardly anything he says is on the test if you take this class READ THE TEXTBOOK AND IGNORE EVERYTHING HE SAYS IN CLASS. the only up side is there are only 3 test and a few quizzes but good luck trying to pay attention in there!!!!
i am taking his 830 class and if you need a class to put you to sleep, this is the one. its more exciting to watch paint dry then to listen to him. he gets off topic really easy, is really soft spoken. his test ask questions that you havent covered yet. im going to fail his class and have to retake it. i DO NOT recommond him at all.
DO NOT take this teacher!! Not helpful. Does not reply to emails for weeks. Tests are very difficult & never follow lecture notes.
I took the online class and I agree that he is an elitist! Which means he does know a lot more than your average professor about U.S. History but he wants you to be up to his level is what I observed. If you want to do an extreme mode challenge of US HIST, this is your class. If you just want to pass it and move on PLEASE look elsewhere.
This guy is a terrible professor. Basically, he gives you three quizzes, exams, and forums. Even when requesting information about what to expect in the exam/quiz he gives you ABSOLUTELY NO INFORMATION. He just tells you to "study the book," and that's it. It is impossible (unless you have a photographic memory) to pass with an A. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
This professor must think he's teaching graduate school. His tests are a joke! He expects you to remember 6 whole chapters and about 25 pgs worth of lecture notes for each exam. That's just impossible. Do not take him. He scores low on forums also. I know I did an excellent job on my postings and was disappointed with his scoring. Look elsewhere.
He is a horrable teacher who dosnt care about his students. he gives 3test and 3quizes who are your only grades...he is rude ans sassy. the test cover atleast 6 chapters which are impossble to remamber and he dosnt have ANY review! he is such a bad teacher, he definalty needs to be fired. and i tried so hard in that class, yet still mae a low C.
I'm taking his on-line class & wanted to meet with him. He sent me an email letting me know he does not meet with on-line students. Asked for a review on his 9 chapters for his test, he told me to go on line and read. He seemed upset when I went to his office unannouced and askedg him for help. SAVE YOURSELF DON'T TAKE HIM!!
i was interested in history before i took his class, but after lecture with him in the mornings, i hated it. EVERYONE falls asleep and he is a disgrace as a teacher. He isnt clear and expects you to remember 9 chapters for all 3 test without a review. dont take him because he will mess up your GPA. SAVE YOUR SELF!
I TOOK THIS TEACHER ONLINE AND HAD TO DROP HIS CLASS. HE IS NOT HELPFUL AND MAKES HIS CLASS EXTREMELY HARD. WHEN EXPECTS YOU TO REMEMBER 8+ CHAPTERS PLUS HIS LECTURES FOR QUIZ/TEST. I WILL BE TAKING THIS CLASS AGAIN BUT WITH A DIFFERENT HISTORY TEACHER. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
This professor does not help at all. Doesn't give reviews, lectures do not go along with tests, extremely boring and studders way too much. READ THE BOOK. Focus on key points. Ignore everything he says because it isn't helpful on tests. He's a smart alec and shows it to everyone. Take a different professor if the option is there!!!!
Lectures are unorganized. Exams are over 5-6 chapters, which are not all discussed in lecture, with only 15 multiple choice questions.
He was the worst teacher! None of what his lecture was about was on the test, if you have to take him don't listen to what he's saying, just read the book.
He is very unclear in his lectures. Gets off topic for everything and he isn't concerned about his students. He will talk for the entire hour and 25 minutes. Doesn't ask if you have any questions. His test are nothing compared to his lectures. Puts a picture of a map up but tests have no maps? very difficult.
This was one if the easiest classes I've taken at San Jac. Over a whole semester you have 3 tests, 3 quizzes, and 3 short "essays". It's really not hard. I took him for both 1301 and 1302. I have no clue what all these people are complaining about. I'm not wonderful with history and I made an A in both courses.
The professor drones on about things not related to the test. Gives tests over several chapters but only covers one in class. Constantly repeats himself and the information presented is unclear both in significance and actual historical accuracy. Does not take questions, if questions are forced he won't answer them. Will occasionally be derogatory.
His class is easy to pass. He only gives 3 quizzes and 3 exams. Take notes in class or use the textbook, whichever you prefer and study. He explains the subject clearly. He is not a bad professor. Just show up to class. Its not hard.
I had to leave five minutes early so I could get to my next class because it was across campus, and he threatened to kick me out of his class. He is very sassy. Don't ask questions. Bring your textbook and read it in class.
WORST TEACHER FOR NIGHT CLASSES! You will never know which chapter you are on, he likes the sound of his voice. Don't ask questions because he will look at you like "how dare you stop me to ask a question"! He is just awful, he may know a lot about history but he acts of if some of it is not true. And put too much of his opinion in it. Repeats alot
Horrible educator. Taking an online course and it is strictly from book with absolutely no notes given to guide students. Exam questions are made of passing details you will not notice in this very dry textbook. Instructions for the online exams include not books, notes etc; ignore these instructions if you want to pass.
He is so boring and will talk for the whole class time. Everyone falls asleep in his class.
Very impressed with his knowledged and had to write paper for final exam in class.
Not a good professor at all. Did not have clear responses when emailed. Little to no help was given by him. He did not give clear instructions on an assignment, which caused me to fail the class. Will not meet up with students.
taking online class for sum2 its week 3 and he still hasn't messaged me back form the day before class. Someone defined him about not being a bad teacher and kids just want a free ride... f that i am a music edu maj, some of the most anal people are music snobs. this guy out shines my music hist teacher. SJC needs to fix this problem teacher!
He is responsive via email and fair grader. You will need to read the chapters as his test and quizes (for online class) were not the ones you can look up. If you don't like to read then his class isn't for you. I can say that by reading them it has increased my knowledge and I am greatful. Good professor.
If you can't make it to class on time don't even bother showing up or taking his course. He will make a huge deal about it. Have to use the bathroom or leave the room for a minute? - DONT BOTHER. He will call you out on it and make a huge deal. He lectures the whole class time and goes over and will not let you leave! AWFUL "teacher"
Took Professor for History 1301 and 1302 during the summer online. Basically read chapters and quiz! one paper due as the final but tells the topic early. Syllabus is on point. Easy A for me both times!! Textbook required and tells you exactly what pages to read and what is on the test.
He honestly kinda terrified me? I took him at 8am and he put me to sleep. I'm sure if you like history it can't be that bad but for me a piece of paper was more interesting. He doesn't tolerate any fooling around and yelled at someone for asking about a Scantron. The test reviews were accurate and there's not a lot of grades.
This professor is ok I guess, Even if you read the chapters and study the test are still hard. The question on test are worded differently. He doesn't give you a 2nd attempt on ANY assignments like the other teachers do. He is a tough grader. Unfortunately for me I had no choice but to take him he was the only class left open. Good Luck
The scariest and most boring professor I've ever had. His tests are easy if you read the textbook and he always responds to emails but he definitely almost put me to sleep a couple times. Very intimidating so don't come to class late or make him mad.
This was an online class-be ready to read! If you read lectures, and book assignments, you will do well. You must read!
This professor is very strict. He doesn't allow leaving the lecture hall during his lecture, unless you are leaving the class. He seems to get extremely frustrated when his lecture is interrupted by a question from one of his students and gives very short, harsh answers. There is no discussion or participation in class.
At first, he seemed really strict and intimidating, but he's nice to you if you try hard in the course. This class is not an easy A for most because he grades harshly on his short answer responses but he provides feedback and gives you reviews for his test. Although, he's not the most caring professor he's truly passionate about history.
He's not intimidating, he's just a jerk. DO NOT take Professor Law. He gives his students no respect at all and doesn't care if they succeed.
He's all business. Slow lecturer, will draw on and on about 1 point, and it's often not very important. He knows his stuff, though, nothing from the book, it seems to be all from memory. There's basically no homework and the only assignments are tests and quizzes, and he gives you a study guide (key words) but the questions are vague, at best.
I took his class for 1301 & 1302 with an A in the 1st one & would have had an A in the 2nd but I messed up dates for a paper( Im human!). I reached out nicely about it and he was EXTREMELY rude and gave me a 0. I have immune issues w/seizures recently so thats been a lot to handle. Qs/Ts are over passing details. DBs are full essay length.
I hated how he taught. Due to covid, we used zoom and he never has the chat or talking button on. It was impossible to ask questions during lectures. The test is worth 70% so if you failed then you are done. When I asked for extra credit, I received a rude comment back. Only test and quizzes are graded. I won't waste my money on him, he don't care.
He clearly couldn't care less whether you are successful in his class or not. How this man has ever gotten a decent review, i do not know. His review outlines for tests are ridiculously broad, he basically just asks you to memorize "anything of importance" in the textbook. If you have a question he will either respond rudely or in an unhelpful way.
I didn't find this class particularly difficult, but reading the text (and taking notes) was imperative to pass. I would have appreciated more details re: the debate analysis assignment, although I ended up with a decent grade. There weren't many exams or quizzes, so each one counted significantly. Prof. was not kind in emails, but not rude.
This is the worst professor I have ever had. His lectures are horrible! He does not present with powerpoint, photos, or makes notes of any important information. He does not give you any assignments, only quizzes (2-3) and exams (2-3) ! therefore, you have to get a perfect score in every exam & quiz to pass the class.
He doesnt do anything but lecture.
Professor Law's questions on his exams are very vague. He is lecture heavy and topics are not clear. As long as you read the chapters from the textbook you'll be fine.
Kinda mean. Very rude and sarcastic. Only lectures off top of his head and theyre very boring. Couldnt change this class cause im in dual credit but if i could i would do it in an instant. Never struggled like this in a history class.
The lectures are incredibly dull and it takes forever for Professor Law to get through a sentence. His teaching style mainly consists of standing and seemly freestyling lessons in a way that no one understands and that people don't care enough about to pay attention to.
DO NOT take this class, he gives out a total of only 6 grades. He is so unprofessional, he may have a phD but he never learned the fact that to get respect you have to give respect. During the first exam he NEVER showed up to class and said that anyone who didn't take it didn't follow instructions. He will get pissy if you try to use the restroom
Professor Law was very tough he won't answer any questions, you can have your hand up for a long time and he will ignore you, he does not let you use the restroom and takes very long to reply to emails
As someone who loves history, I was very disappointed in taking Ronnie Law. Class barely speaks and he will lecture and lecture all day while showing still pictures, though sometimes he may put on a video. You are graded on very few things with 70% of your grade being based on exams. Avoid like the plague if you are a lousy test taker.
Talks really slowly. Stutters and repeats a lot of things. Tries to elaborate about a topic but always ends up repeating what he was trying to say in the first place saying a lot of unnecessary information. Doesn't let you go in the bathroom. Honestly a self-study class. Very passive-aggressive. All his lectures seem to be freestyle.
Ronnie Law is not an awful professor. He is actually very knowledgeable and experienced, his teaching style is just very old school and not my preference. His lectures at times are hard to follow, he talks nonstop. You must take notes off what he says during lectures, or follow exam guides to pass. If you enjoy auditory learning take his course,
Take this class online you ll be fine. A lot of reading but the stories were interesting
If you have the choice, I wouldn't take this class. If you do, make sure you REALLY read and study the textbook. He asks VERY specific questions. Write down everything he says, especially the things he rants about or repeats multiple times. Get on his good side, don't leave class, and check test answers because he might make a mistake.
