Great Teacher!

Though this is a summer fastrack course, Prof. Reed has taken the extra time to ensure his class understands the assignments so each student will have a better overall grade. He's been one of my best teachers by far. Don't hesitate taking his class.DVG

Funny, and real. No b.s.- just the facts. If you give the respect, he'll give it back. He is well knowledged in English and can be very helpful. I enjoyed his class.

Professor Reed is the coolest professor ever. Do not let his appearance decieve you. He is very helpful and gets straight to the point. Make sure you read the assignments the quizzes really boost your grade. Dont think twice about taking this professor.

Awesome teacher, one of my favorite teachers. He is a fun teacher, and he taught me so much on how to write papers. Very helpful. Took the class at 7:30am and kept me awake. Enjoyable class, highly recommend Mr. Reed!

Mr. Reed is a great teacher. He walks you through the essays, ensuring you get the best great possible, and his final is 15 questions (multiple choice) worth 75 points. Keep up with the reading, as quizes help, and do the extra credit (presentation/essay analyzing music/a cd cover). Highly reccomend.

the best teacher to have if u want to have fun

This was an easy A, If you can handle his severe sarcasm (which makes the class very enjoyable) It was the easiest and most fun class

makes ENG not so dry and boring. He prefers to have fun but doesn’t let it interfere with his teaching.U will be a great writer if U take his class; he'll even give 411 "tricks to pass graduate school." He doesn’t demand a serious atmosphere just that the writing assignment be taken seriously.

He's a cool guy. 4 four-pg. papers w/topics that make you think. You MUST be in class every time because there are points involved (assignments/proofreading). The in-class proofreading really helps improve your writing (you have to be there to get the points). Not a lot of reading or busy work. If you let it, the class will teach you a lot.

Reed is mucho bueno! Awesome teacher. I hate English but he makes the subject fun and interesting. Makes you write essays about amusing topics that you will like writing about. Just show up everyday, spend significant time on essays, and you wont need a pillow. Thank you SIR! Class was bomb!

ron is way chill. there's not a lot of homework really. you only have 4 papers to write the entire semester. most of the work is really easy. quizzes are only 5 questions and they're multiple choice. plus, he's an 80's metal dude. it doesn't get any cooler than that.

Fun and easy class, he's laid back and will answer your cell phone for you if it goes off in class.

I have never received an A in an english class in my entire life until I took Mr. Reed's class. The essays from this class are proofread by everyone in the class, which is an excellent way of learning to write and wasting class time! I wish I could substitue taking this class again instead of taking some other unmentionable professors at palomar.

Mr. Reed makes the class easy and more relaxed as possible. He is very helpful with different ideas in writing a paper.He is lots of fun, and I enjoyed his class.

I took both 50 and 100 with him. He motivates students to think "out side the box" resulting in better comprehension of the course's material. I am diappointed he doesn't teach any other courses.

PLEASE TAKE THIS CLASS!! virtually no homework, quizzes are only 5 questions and the final is mult.choice and takes 15 min. tops. The best part is the writing assignments- you get to write about INTERESTING topics like music,and advertising. If ur lucky he'll even tell you stories about when he used to party w/Motely Crue!! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!

He is a great teacher! He is cool when it comes to in class discussions, always making his class feel like equals with him! Although you have to interact with other students a lot, it helps! Usually do your work in class.. so its easy. Not really any homework besides the essays. You will LOVE him and his love for FORD MUSTANGS! haha

Mr. Reed, hands down is the best teacher I ever had at Palomar. I had him for English 50 and 100 so I pretty much had a year of English with him. One funny thing he does is that whenever a cell phone goes off in class he will take it and talk to whoever is calling you. He has you write papers on things in pop culture, so papers are never boring.

I took English 100 in the Spring of '07. Mr. Reed is a very good teacher! Class participation is graded highly, so be ready to attend all classes. His prompts are interesting and really make you think. He will have students proof read your papers before you turn in the final copy. This turned out to be very helpful overall. I highly recommend him!

Laid back kinda guy =) he lets us write our essays about 3 to 5 times before actually turning it in... it's a pain in the butt reading everyone's essays 100 times throughout the semester but it's for the better :D

Ron is the most helpful and thorough professor I have ever had. Quizzes are easy if you just read the media journal. The final is the easiest part of the class. He is also a lot of fun to be in class with because he let's all of his students be themselves.

I love Mr Reed! I wish he was single because i'd date him. He is an extremely good teacher. You have to do the work in order to pass, but if you apply yourself, you should do good. He is definately fun to be around. I enjoyed coming to class, even though it was 6-10pm... Ron made it fun, and I am very glad I took class with him!!! I LOVE YOU RON!!!

His class is not for everybody as he will warn at the beginning of the semester, but if you’re not offended easily you can learn allot from him. Our class consisted primarily consisted of 4 papers, a few readings, and a short final. For the papers, he requires 5 copies of x pages of a draft which are given to classmates for suggestions.

One of the best teachers I've ever had. Mr. Reed is awesome. He talks to the class, not down to the class. Very laid back, and even if you don't like english, you'll enjoy going to class. His system for proof reading papers is a little tedious, but you will turn is great papers, as long as you stay on top of your work. Take Mr. Reeds class!

He’s a great teacher. I never liked English and always struggled until I took his class. He’s got a great personality and sense of humor. He’s very willing to help his students and explain everything over again if you need it. He has quizzes every few weeks on the material; if you read it you’ll do fine. I recommend him to everyone.

ONE OF THE BEST TEACHERS IVE EVER HAD. HE IS TRULY INSPIRING, AND REALLY CARES THAT WE LEARN. HE MAKES IT FUN AND INTERESTING TOO. A LOT OF PEER EDITING HELPED US TO FIND FLAWS IN OUR OWN ESSAYS PRIOR TO TURNING THEM IN. I LOVED THIS CLASS, HE WAS VERY HUMOROUS.

Ron is truely one of the best college professors I've had thus far. His method of preperation for our final draft was almost fail proof. His laid back attitude made him very approachable and he was very funny. Only four papers the entire semester which allows you to put the most into each one. RON ROCKS!

Even though English is my second language, I have never had hard time in his class, and I got an A. He is really clear about all the assignments. I wish him good luck since he has helped many of the students love the true English.

Professor Reed was the BEST English teacher I have ever taken. He makes each assignment very clear and his proof reading method makes writing essays 100x easier. As long as you do the work and put a little effort into it it's an easy A. He does a great job at making a boring class fun and is all around an awesome guy. I WISH he taught English 200!

This teacher ROCKED..!! He is an ansome teacher who will explain over and over again if you don't understand somthing. I was really intimidated first to going into English 100 during the summer but it actually went REALLY SMOOOTH. He made things more clear and understandable ( talking about the prompts). Ron is great at explaining things I never understood and I have learned a lot. But, I kind of lost respect for him when he made fun of Obama- and the only person who laughed was some snotty conservative girl. It's great that we proof read- but SO MUCH PAPER is wasted!!! I wish he would promote recycling the hundreds of pages we waste each essay...

TAKE HIM!!! quizes are easy if u read what he tells u to. TONS of ink used(paper too but ink costs more)because you have to bring in multiple copies of your essay. the peer editing really helps. hes always making sure you understand what hes teaching. awesome teacher/class!

Mr. Reed is extremely a great professor. He has proof reading sessions with each assignment. Show up at every class and you can pass.

TAKE THIS TEACHER! Design your schedule around him. No punches or surprises. He tells you exactly what he expects. One of the only professors that truly does not let personal beliefs and values dictate grades. As long as you back an argument with facts, you will be heard. If I would have met him earlier, I would have been an English Major.

alright, he was a GOOD teacher, but I'll be the first to say.. Ive had better. The essays were some of the STRANGEST Ive ever written about, and made me rethink about my writing style. The proof readings help alot, but that doesn't mean you'll get a good grade. he is HILARIOUS though. i dare you to have your cell go off in class!! :]

He is a great teacher to take if you are willing to do the work. He makes you bring copies to class and other students in the class make corrections and suggestions for you. But he is very straight forward about what he wants from you, and the quizzes are super easy if you read the story. Great teacher and fun assignments

Ron is a great teacher. the first teacher i have ever had that actually made me WANT to write the essays. he makes the essays and the class just interesting and challenging enough to be interesting but not daunting. This teacher will go over the moon to help lower level writers, but if you are a good writer, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. while I was wondering how other students in my class passed high school, he was low-balling my grades. other students were also astonished by my undeserved marks on essays. he also will use your bad work as examples in future classes

Awesome teacher! Take him! The essays topics are interesting and he doesnt waste your time. He will let class out early if there isnt anything important to say. Not boring at all. If you cant take jokes and are uncomfortable hearing the word sex dont take him. He keeps it real and is a excellent teacher.

Ron is a great professor! Unconventional and I meen that in the best way possible. He wants you to really understand the material and is willing to help you out if you do not understand something. We wrote 4, 4 page papers, but they were the easiest papers I have ever had to write. I strongly recommend his class! GO RON!

Professor Reed is seriously awesome. He really helps you get better at writing and is approachable for help. Don't show up late, he won't get pissed, but no one likes that. He may not be crystal clear about some stuff, but it's not like the prompts are hard to figure out, really. I never had a problem with them. He grades fairly, TAKE HIM!

Very good English Teacher. I was so nervous about taking English because of everyone's horror stories at Palomar. The work load is a bit much for some but the benefits are amazing. You will be such a proficient writer after this class. He does an excellent job! I took his Summer class & loved it. Not too bad at all just keep up with the work.

He is a great teacher for anyone who loves to write. there were four essays written and the entire semester was devoted to those four. There is peer editing but you tend to enjoy the feed back given to help with the final product of the essays. Beware, his subjects can be a little fresh and sometimes difficult to write about.

Mr Reed is a fantastic professor. The class is primarily based on 4 essays, however, the topics are very interesting. There are multiple peer review sessions for the essays which can be very tedious at times, but are very useful when revising the essays for the final drafts. Mr Reed is very approchable should you have any questions.

AWESOME teacher. Answers emails quickly. His filtering mechanism is broken, so he pretty much says it the way it is. LISTEN and you WILL LEARN. You must attend class. Fun, provocative subjects for writing assignments. If you are a prude, don't take his class.

Fast-Track class of Fall 2012. With the shorter class session, only three essays were due. Attendance is important so that one can get the best understanding of the subject. He is very approachable for help. The peer reviews can be helpful depending on the writing level of the individual. For success, actually spend time developing the essay. A+

He is by far the best professor I have had yet! He makes the learning fun, and at the same time does it with such efficiency. I had him for both Eng 50, 100 and enjoyed both classes. I Learned a lot from him, and it has definitely helped me in writing papers in my other classes. Your missing out if you choose any other Eng professor.

By far the best english teachers I have ever had. I used to hate english, and be more on the side of math and science. Now after taking this class with Professor Reed he has opened up a whole new world to me. I highly recommend taking this teacher for your english 100 classes.

Mr. Reed is an excellent English teacher. For years I had hated English because I never understood the purpose of writing rough drafts, but when I took his class everything was turned around when each rough draft was a seperate assignment worth a few points spread out over a few days. It really helped me improve my papers drastically.

He's funny,helpful and easy all you have to do is take a couple of notes and pay attention when he writes things on the board.

I have been in a lot of English Courses throughout my life. Unfortunately I didnt have the opportunity to meet this professor until the absolute english class I ever had to take in college. I used to struggle with writing assignments, not because of my inability to write but because I could not structure my papers Mr. Reed is an amazing teacher.

Ron is a great teacher. He tells you everything you need to know for the final as long as you attend class. He helps you understand different writing concepts, and really teaches you to raise your academic tone. Everything I have learned in this class can be applied to all of my future courses.

Before attending Ron's class I loathed English classes. He made the class enjoyable. I recommend taking his class if you struggle with writing papers. His papers can be difficult but he gives you all the tools you need to succeed.

There is 4 major papers as long as you get good grades on papers you will get a good grade he is old school doesn't use blackboard. He is super funny and easy going fun class for English I would def recommend him

I would not take Mr. Reed again. My reluctance is more of a personality thing. He is very into taking about his past and his life experiences. If you do take his class make sure you attend, do not miss. Your papers are going to take a long time to write so start your research early. This class is a lot of work.

first of all he doesn't look like a teacher at all. he looks more of a retired rock star. He gives extra credit when you participate at times and ask good questions. the essay prompt were a bit confusing at times but he can help clarify if you nee help. there is 4 essays due in the whole semester. peer editing is done in class (very helpful)

I highly recommend taking Professor Reed's for English. The class itself is structured really well. Do not expect to have a class day off. He gives decent extra credit, and overall I love him. The essays are clear, very thoughtful and require effort. He has peer edit sessions which helps your grade for every essay. Gives points for showing up.

Great teacher; makes the class engaging, entertaining, and informative. I learned a lot from him. Prone to sharing political opinions, claims college is making people into democrats, and thinks people are too sensitive. That's a minor thing and we are all entitled to our own political opinions, but it makes me tempted to say, "Ok boomer" to him.

Ron is a very respectable professor that takes English in a very different direction than expected. After about a week of being intimidated by his style and subject choices, anxiety dissipated due to his kindness, humor, and flexibility . As long as you listen and apply what he teaches, youll shine in his class.

Professor Ron is the best English professor!! He is hilarious, helpful, and answers every question. His grading is only difficult on the English papers, however, he allows three whole classes before a paper is due for peer reviewing. This is super helpful! His activities are fun, he is constantly making jokes, and he keeps the students engaged!

Ron is an excellent prof. Sticks to schedule handed out 1st day, 4 essays, lots of peer reviews + in-class group assignments. Fair grader, lots of EC. Just come to class, bring the books (both affordable) + put in the work. He can be intimidating initially but is very funny + builds good relationships with students. Wish I could take him again.

Challenging but not difficult to passed his class

Ron is an AMAZING professor. To pass this class you have to show up as he states most of the material in class and does not record the lectures. There are in-class quizzes and all of the papers are proofread by peers. This class is very casual and he loves people who speak up. He also does extra credit and is a very fair grader. THE BEST!

First and foremost, he deserves accolades for his straightforward approach to setting expectations and criteria for our written essays. Beyond academic prowess the Professor had a fantastic sense of humor that added a touch of levity to the classroom. Overall, this class was an absolute breeze.

Honestly good teacher, class was pretty stressful though. You can't miss more than 4 days of class or else you are dropped. I didn't think I was easily caught off guard by what people say until I took his class. He's a fair grader, but make sure you follow instructions to a t. Every class has credit, so if you miss, you lose points. Buckle up !!

English has been my worst subject since elementary. He made learning it interesting. There is opportunity for extra credit, take advantage of it. Can't miss too many classes and take good notes on the lectures he does because you'll see it on the quizzes. Take time and effort during the rough drafts so your quality of final draft is an A or B.

Professor Reed is amazing. He's a harsh grader, but offers great feedback, plus, plenty of opportunities for extra-credit. He values student participation, and is full of humor and personality. However, he is NOT afraid to be vocal about his (often controversial), political takes. I grew a lot as a writer thanks to this class!

Ron is a great professor with an engaging teaching style. While the class can be challenging, his feedback helps you grow as a writer. Unstuckstudy was a game-changer for exam prep. Definitely take this class if you can.

I absolutely loved Ron's class! He really cares about students passing his class and expanding their writing skills. He is old school and prefers papers to be hard copy, so you will be printing AT LEAST 40 pages of paper during the semester. Asking for help and clarification is key to getting an easy A. He does not gatekeep A's like other teachers.

He does a good job of clearly stating what is necessary to pass like what papers he wants and when quizes will be taken. If you don't pay attention that is on you. Very open minded and likes hearing different perspectives

I absolutely loved Ron! He was amazing! Best class so far! I was scared of taking an English class, but he made it fun and exciting! I learned a lot, too! He gave us a few essays to write, but nothing that couldn't be done. He was also super sweet and chill. Sometimes he would have the class engage in mini-debates, too! Would definitely recommend!

This class placed a strong emphasis on peer reviewing and revising essays, which was both engaging and very helpful for improving my writing. The professor was knowledgeable. He was approachable and supportive when answering questions, and his enthusiasm for the subject helped make the learning experience more engaging.
