class isn't too hard, gotta read a couple books, then write a couple papers, with a general subject, but u can pick your specific topic. Although, you have to put some work/research into writing the papers. Pretty cool, easy going professor

Ron is a really smart and witty person--he makes class fun and interesting. He helps see issues from all sides and I really respect that

A really nice guy. He seems to actually care about his students, he even remembers everybody's name by the first few days of class. He's concerned about what is going on in the world and he admits to not knowing everything. He welcomes class discussion

Ron is very pragmatic and he'll adapt to help you in writing your papers. I have friends who are in the same class with a different prof. Their classes sound a lot harder (i.e. longer papers) than this one, he makes a difficult class a lot easier.

Mr.Ross is great! very fun and helpful,class is also really helpful, if you are having problems with a paper and you feel like you are alone, you aren't and he conduncts his class so that you get feedback and learn! Plus he is really easy on the eyes!

I thoroughly enjoyed this class because of his teaching style. He has a mix of intelligence, humor and compassion. He really cares that his students understand more than just writing or reading. And I think he is hot.

This teacher is just easy going, and I'm assuming the same for all his classes. Granted, this was a 100 level class, as long as you do your work and make an effort, there's no reason you shouldn't get an "A". He's probably one of the most open minded, un-biased teachers at PCC. He's real, young and extremely personable. I highly recommned him!!

absolutley LOVED him!!! one of the best professors i have ever had, his class is easy, but somehow he still makes you learn...no tests or quizzes and not too much reading and/or writing...keeps you engaged the whole class period with relevant material to life. Hardly ever made us stay the whole class period! would recommend him for sure!

Ross is a great teacher for his subject. He really is fair, personable, nice, funny, and isn't strict. We had 4 readings from the book/responses, a few papers with pretty graspable guidelines and subjects, and civil disobedience was an interesting subject to study. Easy to get an A or B. I doubt anybody in the class disliked him.

Ron is a great writing instructor. Most of the papers in WR 122 were on the topic of Civil Disobedience, which is fascinating during election season. Ron grades based on effort, so if you show up and put some effort in the work there's no reason you won't do well. I would recommend him to others and take him again.

Best instructor ever. Made writing seem fun and much easier. Very helpful. Engaged class wonderfully through discussion of interesting, relevant issues, truly increased skills to analyze and think critically. Super sexy and not easily squicked out. :) Wish I could take him again but will be attending Cascade (closer to home). TAKE HIS CLASSES. :)

All around awsome teacher and great guy! Brings a lot of humor to his lessons without taking away from the class. Very encouraging to all student's work and ideas. A fairly decent sized writing projects but he makes it fun and is not super critical if you come up a bit short or go a little over as long as you put effort into your work.

He is a cool teacher, LIKES PEOPLE TO READ THE MATERIALS ASSIGNED BEFORE CLASS!!! He is fun but likes to keep things going. If you take his class make sure to be there and READ the homework material. Is a bit of a hard grader but is ok, don't assume you will get an easy A, that was my problem, still consider him to be good.

Had Ron for Creative WR Poetry...super witty and fun; Really relatable, provides great feedback on your poems if you plan to sign up for this class. Expect to do readings necessary before each class..lots of discussion on modern poetry and lots of in-class writing workshops. Don't be intimidated by his sarcasm; super friendly/approachable

I took Intro to Poetry thinking it would be a class about writing poetry and not analyzing it. Nonetheless by the time that kicked in I couldn't drop it, and I'm glad I stayed! One of the best classes to be in, really helps fuel creativity although it may seem drab. Shows videos often!

Ron Ross was funny, caring and up front with his lectures and assignments. He made things easy to understand, but participation in class discussions and conferences helps a lot. 3 essays, 4 reading responses (that he gives you several articles to choose from). Very easy load and willing to work with you if you're having trouble. Def recommended!

Ron is extremely helpful and works diligently for his students. He is very fair with his grades and as long as you work a little and pay attention you can definitely get an A. He is very clear and gives good feedback on his assignments, he will also give you extra time to turn it in if you go to the writing center. I HIGHLY recommend him!

Excellent teacher! Although his class is challenging, you can learn a lot to be a good writer and thinker. He gives a lot of good feedback. He often inspires students to write. I can tell he really cares students, and he is proud of his students' processes. If you really want to learn something, be sure not to miss his class!

Honestly, the best lit class I've ever taken. Ron gives great lectures, and is generally just awesome. The workload is pretty manageable, and as long as you put thought into your papers, you'll pass the class. If you have the chance, you should definitely take one of his classes!

His lectures are truly amazing. These are the true teaching not only in writing properly but also in thinking critically in argumentation. Ron provides very detailed feed backs in our face-to-face writing conferences. Especially, he also values quality of thoughts and idea development over just turning in enough amount of words with perfect grammar

Ron was an awesome professor, his knowledge of film was vast and he puts a lot of thought into the films he chooses. He made me love and appreciate foreign film, and know some of my favorites are foreign! We watched 10 movies, with 10 - 1 page film reviews, one group project, and the final was a deeper analysis of film clips. TAKE HIM!

I learned a lot in this class about critical thinking, advertising, and politics, which makes argumentative writing more interesting. We watched a few films during the class that we could then respond to in our essays and reading responses. He has a cool personality, and he was a great teacher.

Ron is an understanding educator for English second language students.

Super easy class, as long as you show up you will pass. Ron is always so cheerful and makes the class interesting. He will sometimes get off track and go into lectures that are not at all related to the learning topic. He Also often times lets the class out early. Overall a great teacher.

I decided to write this review in mid-term based on what I've experienced so far. I enjoy Ron's style of teaching. If you are paying attention and participating, the discussions are fun and you will write better papers. He is fun to listen to and you can learn a lot if you want. The grading system appears solid. Written assignment scores matter.

Take this guy's classes, all of them. He's funny, smart, a great teacher and shows how to be a better writer and critical thinker. Plus, the textbook he chose is actually useful (it's the only Lit book I've ever decided to keep). He's very fair, and as long as you're doing the work, showing up and making an effort, you'll pass.

Ron Ross is a phenomenal writing teacher. He doesn't grade too harshly as long as you know how to write essays. He brings in a lot of social stuff going on in the current world which I like. He is liberal though, like pretty much all the PCC professors. I would definitely take him again. He's super funny and chill too.

I had Mr. Ross during the coronavirus outbreak, so although classes were given online, his class was great. He is very caring, funny and chill. His teaching style is very helpful if you're trying to improve your writing. I highly recommend taking him, he is an amazing teacher.

Ron is very clear about his expectations weekly, but even if you miss something, he is hoary to help! Writing isn't my favorite subject, but Ron made is better. In writing 121, you're graded on 3 responses (20 points), and 3 essays (40 points). Ron gives great feedback so you're able to get the grade you want!

I took 2of Professor Ross's classes this term and I'll review both. For WR242, he's amazing! The textbook he uses is interesting, as are class discussions. Personally I would have liked to write more than 7 poems but I can get why that's not the case. He's interesting, knowledge, friendly, accessible, and approachable. I can't wait for WR241 w/ him

I took 2 of Professor Ross's classes this term and I'll review both. For ENG250, there's a lot of reading involved but it's all interesting. I would have appreciated more diversity in the cultures we read from. Class discussion is important and engaging. He appreciates different ways of viewing the myths and their implications.

Ron Ross is an excellent professor. He covered a lot of material in 11 weeks, and did it very well. He is respectful, intelligent, insightful, and kind. Ron really shared his love for poetry and his understanding of writing. He is a calm and positive person, and is very open-minded. I enjoyed the class very much, and hope to take it again.

Easy and fun class with a funny and friendly prof. I wish I could have taken it in person(thanks, COVID). He gives good feedback on the essays and reading responses, making it easy to improve your work. Though this is a basic comp. class, he gives relevant topics to write about which makes writing more enjoyable. Just do the work and you'll pass.

Good, solid, and reliable when you need help! Although I feel he can get off topic often, he still is a really cool and fun guy. Good lectures, and the essays are pretty straight forward. The only thing I'm not a big fan of is how political the class is. He's very liberal, so if you are more on the right (which I am) it makes the essays more tough.

In WR 121, Ron Ross really helped me develop ideas and finetune my papers. He gives helpful, specific feedback on your rough drafts that set you up for success on your final paper. I absolutely recommend, as Ron guides you through the writing process, but also allows for a lot of independence in how you go about writing.

Professor Ross is an amazing teacher who is not only funny, but is also determined for everybody to succeed. His grading is easy to understand and papers are made 10x easier by the amount of research needed and pre-essay responses. Participation in his class is very important and making sure to read everything assigned. It was an amazing term!

He gives really good feedback which allows you to improve as a writer. There are articles you need to read before class however it all ties in with the next essay which is actually helpful so I know what i'm suppose to actually write about. Super nice and reasonable guy.

Ron is an amazing professor! He gives great feedback on essays through either writing or even a voice recording. The class discussions on current social issues are thought-provoking. I strongly recommend Ron, both as a person, and a professor.

Take this class in person. He has so much information to teach, forced online due to COVID doesn't seem like an easy transition, and creates confusion but still got a lot from the class. Incredibly nice and understanding. Would take more classes from him.

Lectures are extremely concise, allowing for surplus time to do work outside of class. If you thrive working independently, you will easily succeed with Ron. Approachable, down to earth, and informative. The only possible downside I could think of is that it felt moderately non-challenging/easy, but that's not really even a downside to most.

Pretty cool professor, always great and specific feedback. Very organized D2l and it's easy to learn content ahead of time if you so please. Respectful as far as I've seen.

Ron is a great person, he helped me become a better writer and his class was always interesting. We had 3 essays, and 3 writing responses. He wanted you to dig deeper into topic research about it and write it. He is always open to regrade your essay or response if you are not happy with your grade. I would highly recommend his class.

Unique teacher, he is not pushy about turning things in, he cares about students, the quality and effort given in work. I loved this class, it peaked my interest in creative writing. There were only 2 long stories to write, and a couple shorter practice stories. He does not grade until finals, so just turn everything in and you pass with an A.

Ron Ross was a dream, his class was super easy. Much easier than my senior year English class. He was quick to give feedback and was always helpful with what he had to say. Great professor, gave insightful feedback on assignments, and the subject material was pretty interesting. He called out students in class who would literally talk all class, they were super annoying and that made me respect Ross even more. Definitely Hall of Famer potential, 10/10 would recommend.

Ron was such a good prof. He gave awesome feedback and let late submissions go up until the last minute. In addition, he allowed additional resubmissions if you weren't satisfied with your grade. 10/10 would take the class again.

I love writing but I felt like Ron made me love it even more. The class focused on critical thinking and fact checks surrounding writing. We also focused on a lot on current events, which made it super engaging when we wrote our essays. Also, if you do the work, you get a good grade. I got so much out of this class and would 100% take it again.

This teacher is amazing. He's funny and makes the class fun. I took the hybrid version of the class and I had no trouble with the workload. Ron loves to joke a lot and will sometimes joke about quizzes that never happen. I would recommend this class to everyone!

Professor Ross is a gem! Useful and engaging material. Worked with me on a day I had to leave class early and still gave me credit on a paper I didn't follow directions on :( Super understanding compared to other professors. Gives insightful feedback on work! One of the best instructors I've had.
