great teacher if you drive a '73' gremlin
Good teacher. Dont want to be a Biology major in here though
He's Late to class by 5-10 minutes
The best teacher I have ever had
If it weren't for biology majors, who would be making the leaf note books; me!
Answer starts with y...Think brown furry animals...Good!
Is this an acid...is this an acid...is this an acid...come on biology majors!
Invents his own Chemistry songs... Drip-Swirl-Drip-Swirl-Drip-Swirl-Swirl. :)
God is great. God is good, please let those electrons flow like they should...
He conciders every class applied chemistry.
I pledge a legence to the atom and to the periodic table on which it stands...
Chemists don't die--they just fail to react!!!!
If you must take Chm, Take Sharp!
OK, Biology majors, This is a tiraffe--mix a tiger and a giraffe!
sharp = fail

Love sending him e-mails! If you're looking for a fun, great prof. take him!
Always wondering what this man is going to say next

You owe me Friday nights... What? You don't have time for friends...

His tests are tricky. Makes the answers seem so simple!!!!! Fun class though.
Let's do the water dance
That's not what I said...You biology majors are listenin' funny again.
I don
I love biology majors because they save me from doing frog and leaf notebooks.
Do you: sleep, have friends, or any other classes? Then you need a drop slip
AFTER YOU LEAVE SHARP'S CLASS, I WILL GUARANTEE, YOU WILL GO BACK TO THE REVEREND FOR A PRAYER. A GREAT PROFESSOR. THANKS REVEREND
No E-winger has a chance! Great fun! Thanks, Mr. Sharp!
I had him in the summer for 5 hrs straight, and he made it a great learning envioronment!! He is the best. Don't take anyone else for Chem, even if you are a bio major, he is nice just likes to joke around and make class fun, don't take it seriously.
My favorite teacher! Very funny guy! He makes the material even more interesting than it already is. He's always willing to help his students. Biology majors might not appreciate his sense of humor, though. :)
If you can't learn by sharps help, then you might have to change major or even drop out of class, cause u don't know what ur missing. Life is chemistry.
Not a class to slack off in. Expects students to study on friday night and drink diet coke. Keeps the class interesting, makes me glad im not a BIO major. One of my favorite teachers, plan on taking him during the summer for 112, 18hrs a week with sharp.
Lecture was a joke. Wastes too much class time for the serious student. Problems assigned is a must.
He is the best Chemistry professor ever!! You will never get bored in this class and you learn a lot! Drip swirl, drip swirl, drip swirl swirl. If you're looking for a great professor, TAKE HIM!!! You won't regret it! Thanx Reverend!!!!! :)
One helluva guy. Will help you when ever you need it. Makes chemistry fun.. Two requirements for class: must know sharponics.. drip swirl, drip swirl, drip swirl swirl... and love FIRE AND SMOKE !!!
Sharp is a great teacher, but very hard. I wouldn't take any other prof for either of the inorganics! He's a funny prof and you'll learn a ton in his class. He makes fun of every other department in the school which can be very funny sometimes.
Mr. Sharp is a good teacher. He teaches in a great way. He always knows how to make his students laugh. I myself am having some trouble in the class but I think its just because it's a hard class and a lot of info to absorb and comprehend.
awesome guy. good teacher! but if u dont like teaching yourself on friday night and your not a nauraul chemist, you better have alot of free time to study or else u dont stand a chance
Good teacher, appears to be a good person. Has a lot of patience and good sense of humor. Uses a variety of examples that sometimes seem silly, but is intended to explain a complex subject with an experience the average student can relate to.
The only reason this course was easy for me is becasue Sharp is such a great teacher. He was always willing to further explain ideas, put them into numerous examples, and work with you until you actually understood them. He wants everyone to succeed!!!!
Genuinely cares about his students, even knows your name. I never thought chemistry could be fun, but he made it a riot! He has a strong passion for what he does, by far he is the best professor I've ever had and never have I learned so much in a class :)
OMG!! If you wanna laugh while learning take Sharp! I swear I have never enjoyed a teacher's jokes as much as his! He does little silly things just to make you understand whats goin on in chemistry. This is esp. helpful for people that have a hard time!
What's the difference btwn a biology major and a chem major? I don't know, but it involves the bio major being stupid, just ask Sharp
What an all-star! He is the best teacher I've ever had in my entire life. If you want to learn, you can see in his eyes that he has respect for you. I wish I could have him teach every class. He possesses all good qualities a teacher can have.
Well ...i would recommend Peck for any chemistry class that you are going to take - and i strongly think that you should rule Sharp out!
Sharp is a good teacher, not an easy teacher. There is a difference. He is always respectful and his expectations are clear. Chemistry is just a difficult subject that requires a lot of work to understand. You will only get out of it what you put into it.
Sharp is to the point. He understands if you struggle with the subject and he's there to help you all the way.
after crashing and burning with peck I found colonel ron to be refreshing. he treats you like your totally unfamiliar with the material and assumes nothing. No typed reports like peck assigns. answer starts with Y.
Sharp is SUCH a GREAT chem professor. His sense of humor makes class so easy to sit through ...STIRRY STIRRY STIRRY...HEATY HEATY HEATY!!
sharp is an awesome teacher. he makes sure u understand everything that u r doing, he will help u out with anything that u need help with. his jokes are awesome, and he keeps u interested in what he has to say. the best science teacher i have ever had!
sharp is like an older version of bill nye the science guy, minus the TV show and lab coat. He makes an obnoxiously hard subject and breaks it down into sections you can understand. the BEST chemistry teacher....ever.
very good but hard and entertaining teacher. one of delta's best chemistry teachers.
I don't know why everyone rates him so good! He is just ok! Test are pretty difficult and quizes don't help your grade much so be ready to really work and teach yourself!
He's an entertaining man, passionate about teaching to his students, and if you work hard you'll get the A. But as a result of his goofiness and tendency to placate the dumber student's questions, my class was 5 chapters behind Peck's at the end, leaving me unprepared for the next class.
do you want to take this class? answer starts with n! homework doesn't count for anything, he doesn;t answer questions, and he picks his favorites. do not take him!!!!!!!!
I donno who this guy is kidding! He makes you feel really stupid when you ask a questions! Also doesn't answer questions to the fullest! He answers the part you already know! Doesn't do any calculations makes the students do them. Be ready to teach yourself!
Fun lectures but tests can be tough. I wasn't ready for the final exam--which was different than all the previous tests.
Probably the best teacher I've had in 15 years of going to school. He is very helpful and fair but be prepared to study lots, if your looking for an A. Only thing that suprised me in this class was the final which seemed much harder than any of the other tests.
Sharp is so awesome! You seriously should take his class. Students who don't work hard may degrade him due to their own failure, but ones who do work hard find this prof. to be the best one at Delta. I now have him for chem 112 and I LOVE HIM!!
good teacher
good luck in this class because it is not easy. Sharp is a nice guy but a very difficult teacher. grades solely on quizzes, tests and labs can only lower your grade. i was scared to ask questions and felt less knowledgeable after the class.
Awful. Absolutely awful.
Talks way to much about biology majors and is very sloppy when it comes to staying on track. Tests are fairly okay but the multiple choice part blows!!! Peck is way more structured and easy to follow.
I took this class at cmu, got a C-, and i'm getting an A right now. 90 on the first test and 95s on all the quizes. He's a really entertaining guy, and passionate about his subject. He expects you to work hard though. I recommend him to anyone who needs to retake a chem class.
Homework is optional and if you do it, you should do fine.
Sharp was the best science prof I have ever had. He knows what he's talking about, he's funny, and he's a hockey fan. ;)
Sharp is okay . . . totally makes fun of biology majors and engineers ( those people who pull the whistle on the train)
Sharp is energetic and gets lost in sentences sometimes, but it just makes him all the more funny to listen to! I find the class interesting and not too hard at all; just do the homework and you're all set!
Enjoy him while you can.
Sharp has a very dry sense of humor, and is very passionte about what he teaches. The only points you get in his class are tests, quizzes, and the labs can only pull your grade down if you choose not to do them. If you keep up on the homework you will do fine because many of his test questions are taken right out of homework. Good Luck!!!
6 week summer course-wow-hard. Fast paced, 10 chapters in 5 wks. I had chem in high school years ago. This was a shock for me. You have to self teach yourself, working a job too not enough time. I studied all the time, only pulling a C. Labs are easy not graded you have to go or get marked down. Tests are kinda similiar to homework or lecture-hard
Don't kid yourself, this class is hard! The hardest 100 level class I've taken, period. However, Sharp is the kind of professor that has a lot to offer his students. He interjects humorous anecdotes into his lectures frequently and is entirably likable. Homework isn't required but is necessary to pass the class. I would absolutely recommend Sharp.
Sharp makes class interesting and enjoyable. Those who don't do well generally drank more than "Diet Coke on Friday nights." Do the homework and study. You'll learn a lot!
Awesome guy!
Great guy, fun class
A great chemistry instructor, makes everything easy to understand and gives everything needed to know for all quizzes, exams, etc. If you put the time in an A is very possible. Way better than the other CHM 112 teacher! Highly recommend him!
Great teacher, very enthusiastic and helpful.
Nice guy overall. As a teacher very hard to understand at times in part that he is kinda scatter-brained hard to follow If you are not hardcore Chemistry major you will have a hard time warming up to him. If you are a returing adult student DO NOT take him he doesnt do any type of refresher, better for kids coming out of highschool that just had it.
Sharp is a great guy. I am not really all that into Chemistry and still this is my most interesting class. I had high school chemisty in 11th grade and then jumped right into this class, BAD IDEA! This is a VERY hard class, especially if you didn't take CHM 101. But I would say, out of all the Chem teachers, Sharp is the best one to take!
Sharp Rules!! Chemistry 112 is friggin hard as hell but Sharp makes it bearable. YOU HAVE TO TAKE SHARP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great professor. Makes class a lot of fun and interesting. Wouldnt recommend this class if you are a biology major ;)
Good Fun Teacher. Heaty, heaty, heaty. He is the only professor i would want to spend four hours with two nights a week.
Sharp was das best!!! I hated CHM 111 with another professor and went into 112 with the mindset of hating 112. Sharp completely changed my perspective and by the end of his class I was enjoying Chemistry. Take HIM
Sharp is the coolest funniest guy you'll ever meet, but be prepared to ONLY learn from the book. Very hard class, he means it when he says to stay home friday nights. Take 101 before taking this class to help. STUDY STUDY STUDY. Will not bore you, keeps you entertained! Funny funny guy
If you have the chance to take him or Peck... Go with Sharp. I've had them both.
I had him for Chem 111+112. He was a wonderful teacher who expects you to put in time to get your grade. I always knew I wanted to be a Chem major, but Sharp really solidified that. Just a great guy.
I had Sharp for 111 & 112, and I wish I could take him for every Chm class! He is the best teacher I have ever had, EVER!! He always helped me whenever I had a question. This class is not as hard as it seems if you pay attention, ask questions, keep up with your hw, and spend your Friday nights with your TI and a diet coke! Oh-my-gosh, TAKE SHARP!!
Such a fun guy, and really knows what he's talking about. Quizzes/Exams aren't too challenging if you do your homework. Ask about that water dance :) would recommend to anyone. Keeps the class fun!
Must be there every day, pay attention, take good notes, and study study study. If you fail to do any of these things, don't take the class. GREAT teacher, interesting, but if you don't like to work don't take the class (any teacher).
sharp was a good professor. made the class bearable. tests weren't too tough if you study. however, bobby bird and bradley landon were in my class which didn't make it fun
Very Interesting class, Have to attend to pass but kinda fun
Sharp is a great teacher. Makes Chm fun but doesn't make it easy. Chm is a hard class and if you don't take good notes, do the homework, and prepare outside of class... you won't pass. Attendance is a must for this class. There is a lot of no credit homework but it prepares you for the quizzes and Chapter test.
DONT take this in spring/summer if you want to pass. If you havent had chem 101 or its been years since high school and you need an A, take 101 first. Sharp goes over material very fast so you have to read and do ALL the homework to get a good grasp of the concepts. If you dont, you will not do well. Sharp is funny and very fair. Great teacher!
Sharp made this class a lot of fun; I did not like chemistry at all before taking this class and now I am taking 112. He does, however, go fast so you need to attend class, take notes and do all of the homework assigned in order to keep up.
I don't know what all the fuss is about how great of a teacher he is. He may be a great PERSON but he sucks at teaching and explaining chmeistry.
Professor Sharp was the best. Took him in the spring/summer and got an A. You do have to put in the time to study, but Sharp keeps the class interesting and really prepares you for his tests. Do the homework, a lot of the test questions come from the homework problems. Would recommend him to anyone. Don't listen to the other fools on here.
Awsome chem teacher. Had no intereast in chem before this class. He also teaches you everything you need to know about biology and botony...."this is a leaf"....
Sharp tells the biology majors whats up!!!
Sharp is incredible as teaching the class, I would recommend him to anyone, he is helpful and if you ask questions and make your presence known you will do well. Ask him about the water dance.
Very nice person but is not good at explaing chemistry to those you are unfamiliar with it. Took 101 and got a B. Took 111 and failed. He's good if you know your chemistry but if not, you won't pass. Only quizzes and exams.
He's a nice guy but doesn't do a great job at explaining why things happen. He mostly shows you how to do the math. Expect to learn a lot on your own. Not recommended unless you are very knowledgeable in chemistry prior to the class.
Going into this class I was apprehensive. If you're taking this in the summer don't expect an easy class, Sharp makes sure to cover all the material that he would in the regular semester. Sharp isn't kidding when he says that Friday nights should be spent with your TI at the chemistry bar drinking a diet coke. I recommend Sharp! WATER DANCE
I took Sharp for both CHM 111 and CHM 112. He's a great teacher, lots of fun, loves chemistry, kinda quirky (ok, really quirky)... Chemistry is not an easy subject for most people, but if you take it with Sharp, he'll go through it until you get it, and you'll have fun doing it! P.S. Ask about the "Water" dance!
I always did my homework and attended class...my weeks were spent at home doing Chemistry, I even used the tutoring center and I still failed. Whenever I asked him questions after class or during his office hours he acted rudely towards me. I think he was a cool teacher but I think he didn't really pay attention to anyone that wasn't getting an A.
Fun guy, but seems to single out and embarass a lot of people. Doesnt consider student's feelings. Teaching wise though, he is a decent teacher. A lot of work in the class.
Almost never uses text book in his lecture but assigns all of his homework from it, but the homework is no credit. To get a good grade in his class you need to put most of your concentration into it and read the book and do the homework before he lectures on it. He also uses abbreviations in his tests and quizzes that you won't see in the book.
One of the best teachers at Delta bar none. Ignore the bad reviews, Sharp is a great guy and teacher. He does enjoy picking on students, but he is only joking. Advice to those considering this class: do your homework. Tests and quizzes are very similar to it. Oh and ask about the water dance and give him crap for always being late!!!
Had Mr. Sharp more than 20 yrs ago... tough class, great teacher! I am now a doctor and look back at my time in Mr. Sharp's class as a pivotal time in my life. He proved to me that I COULD do it. Chemistry was not my thing, still isn't... but is a necessary hurdle to access a medical career. Thanks for getting me through it Mr. Sharp!
This guy is passionate about chemistry and is really funny and entertaining. HOWEVER! HE HAS NO SYMPATHY FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT CHEMISTS. HE SHOULD NOT BE TEACHING CHEM 101. WARNING- HE ONLY GRADES EXAMS AND QUIZZES. IF YOU ARE NOT A TEST PERSON DO NOT TAKE HIM. HE IS NOT HELPFUL AND CLEAR ON TOPICS. HE TEACHES DIFFERENTLY THAN THE BOOK. WATCH OUT.
I don't understand why people don't think he is a good teacher. I am going to be a senior in high school and I am leading the class. He makes it very easy.
AWESOME TEACHER! I would recommend Sharp to any student whether they love chemistry or not. He is extremely helpful and funny. I took him as a dual-enrollment class and am taking him again for the fall. P.S. do you homework he takes most of those questions and puts them on the tests but switches the numbers.
The only thing he grades are exams!!! And he does not give credit for trying! I am not an exam person so I hated the class! He thinks everyone is stupid unless you are a chem fanatic like him!
Neat individual that really cares about his students. Realizes what college is actually about: thought. Expects you to work, and getting a good grade in the class takes an effort. An amusing professor.
He takes getting used to because his lecture is him asking questions and then him answering them with rhetorical questions. I took 101 before I took his class and that helped a lot. He has a fun personality, but lecture is not so great. I had to teach myself a lot of the content. If you work hard in his class, he is more willing to help you.
He is really fun&has a great personality.DO THE HOMEWORK! You have a quiz over every chapter and the questions are usally all homework questions or questions that you have done in class. CHEMISTY IS HARD, it will be a lot of work with any teacher. Sharp gives points on quizzes and exams for trying, he actually cares about his students!
He's an amazing professor and has a great personality. he does take a little time getting used too if you're not that into chemistry but he will help you if you ask and he does so even in class. First thing everyday is "does anyone have any questions?" He cares about his students if you push yourself to succeed and even try to do well.
Sharp is very straightforward about what you need to learn to succeed in his class. All hw assigned is not mandatory, but it is the same as quizzes. Labs must be completed, but are not part of the grade. He's very helpful and a very nice guy.
Ron is a great guy. He keeps you actively engaged during class instead of you slumbering off.. He does not give homework for credit, and only his quizzes and tests are graded(something that makes his class hard). His tests are challenging but if you study enough you'll do fine! Definately recommend sharp as a teacher!!
Sharp is a hard teacher to follow. He will explain something numerous which to the point where it confused me way too much. He loves what he does and gets super excited over it. So excited that he talks too fast and too much where it is very overwhelming and hard to follow
Mr. Sharp is not an easy teacher. I wouldn't take him again, I literally had to ask all my friends for help to pass the class.
The only reason I did better in this class is due to the group of friends I had in my corner of the room. We taught each other everything that Sharp did not clarify during his endless lectures. He expects you to already know most of what he teaches. He also likes to go off on pointless tangents in lectures. You need to study to pass this class.
The only reason I passed this class was because of the group of friends in my corner of the room. We taught each other everything that Sharp didn't clarify. He goes off on random tangents during lectures that have nothing to do with chemistry. You absolutely have to study for the tests and quizzes to pass. Homework is not mandatory.
He's really enthusiastic about chemistry, and is always willing to help and answer any questions. He jumps around a lot during his lectures so it was a little difficult to take notes. I'm taking him again for CHM 112 next semester.
Sharp was incredibly helpful in both lab and lecture and offered persistent feedback as well as a unique grading system that emphasized the importance of labs being an "experience" while studying the content more heavily. This guy's hilarious.
Covers the content of the tests during lectures, take notes and the tests will be easier.
Sharp is probably one of the funniest professors I have ever had! He is very passionate about what he teaches and really cares about his students. He is always willing to help, but you HAVE to ask him questions. Chemistry is a very hard class, but Sharp makes the class fun. Ask about the water dance and make sure to stay in on Friday night... :-)
Sharp cares about his students and is willing to help anyone if you are willing to put in the effort. His tests are tough and does not give any extra credit or homework assignments to help raise your grade. He loves Chemistry and adds a lot of humor to his lectures. He's not kidding when he says to stay in on Friday night, his tests are not easy.
Hard class but he makes it fun. He is a great, inspirational teacher
He assigns a bunch of homework for every chapter, it's not graded but it will definitely help if you want to pass. Tests are extremely difficult if you do not study. He is an all or nothing type of grader. You either know it or you don't. When he says stay home on Friday night, he means it.
Mr. Sharp loves his students and puts a lot of emphasis on learning. He explains things clearly and is always able to answer questions. Tests are very hard but the homework that he assigns will help you pass with flying colors. This is one of the hardest classes I have taken but he makes it not bad at all. He is a wonderful professor!
Sharp is an amazing teacher! Chemistry is a hard subject but he makes it fun and if you work hard and keep up with homework you should do just fine. I went to the tutoring center a couple of times and asked him for help a lot. Hes a nice approachable guy who loves Chemistry with a passion :).
Sharp is funny in class and has some good chemistry jokes. He only basis his grade on exams and quizzes which can make this class tough due to the low amount of points. It is math heavy class. He is helpful when you need it and provides you with equations.
Sharp is a very tough grader. Tests and quizzes are the only way to get points, and make ups are not allowed under any circumstances. He never takes attendance, but if you miss class you will pay for it all semester. I will not take him again, and this class was one of my lowest grades ever, despite the fact that I worked hard and studied.
He was a tough teacher, but he was willing to work with you if you were struggling. He's was also funny and very kind.
Mr. Sharp is hilarious, nerdy, and passionate about Chemistry. However, his classes are not easy. If you do not easily grasp the concepts during lecture you can expect to spend a decent amount of time on homework. Preparing for his tests/quizzes is essential. Do the homework, ask questions, be willing to put in the work, and you'll be just fine
His class is very exam heavy and you must do very well to pass the class. He is generous with his exam rules on his syllabus, but he is a horrible teacher and a great guy in one. He is personable, but he will never answer your questions and leaves you hanging to sink. Expect to find a tutor for this class and watch a lot of youtube videos.
Sharp is a funny guy but he really expects you to teach yourself. He does problems on the board, but you need to do the 40 problems from the textbook to even get a grasp of the subject. Homework isn't graded, and tests are harder than they need to be. Doesn't give great feedback and tries to scare you on the idea of University chemistry classes
Will go above and beyond to answer questions so you understand the course material and also to just satisfy your curiosity of how the course material relates to the real world.
A very Funny guy, and good at teaching what you really need to know! He likes to teach how to remember things, instead of just making you memorize Ions and things. Homework is optional, Labs are NOT. Do not miss a lab.
This guy made me love chemistry. I hated it in high school but he really teaches you all of it's applications and why it's important. He teaches you how to think and not just go through the motions, by throwing different types of problems at you. What you do in class and for homework is just like the quizzes. Exams are a combo of that and theory.
Sharp was good for CHM 111, but was not the ideal prof for 112. Class is only graded by quizzes and exams, and the material on the exams is different from the homework problems and worded in a way to trick us. No extra credit. Nice guy and tried to help, but his method requires us to teach ourselves. Do bad on 1 exam and you're sunk. Avoid for 112.
Sharp is such a nice guy but his lectures are SO scattered. He bounces from board to board and writes nothing down but math problems. You go into his tests half blind since he doesn't share what the multiple choice looks like so he can use the same one every year. The TLC taught me most of this class. The final is INCREDIBLY difficult.
Pre-Pharmacy student: GPA: 3.754, Sharp says all the time that he's there to do his job, not to have people LIKE him. He will NOT baby you. Class started with 18, 4 dropped and 2 failed. Out of 12 people, 3 A's, 2 B's, 7 C's. Not an easy class so you must work for everything! 25% quizzes, 55% exams, 20% final. However, insanely good professor!!!
Ron was sweet and willing to explain outside of class, but his lectures were not super helpful. He is super funny but a little scatterbrained and doesn't lay out the steps to solve problems easy. Only used the book for homework problems that you have to do to understand the concept. I'm stuck taking him again for 112 and I'll be honest I am worried
Professor Sharp is a great instructor. I took Chem 112 as a high school student. He is approachable and always willing to help. He prepared me for upper level courses. The material is not easy, but if you attend his lecture and take notes, you will be prepared for his assessments. He covers all material on his tests/quizzes in class.
