Extremely funny, very easy apprec. class
No Comments
Funny, good guy. Easy class. Talk to him and you'll get an A. Volunteer in the Shop, easy and fun
this guy rocks, the class is sooooo easy, very easy A, he is a cool guy
No Comments
Ron is one of the nicest persons I know. Now I volunteer my help in the shop because I enjoy hanging out with him so much!
Ron, you rock!

Very Easy; Very Clear outline to follow with notes
EASY, INTERESTING, NO ATTENDANCE TAKEN...no one better
Worst professor of my college career.
Ron is the man
Easy class Easy A
very easy prof for tha apprec. dont have to go to class to get an a. if you are a theatre major or have been in plays/musicals it will help you even more in the class. pretty cool guy.
very good. dont have to go to class but he's funny and easy to listen to. easy A and he seems nice.
Very easy and an all around funny and interesting professor.
SO EASY! No attendance, dont have to go to class, the few quizzes there are come right from notes that you can print off the internet. how an apprec should be!
This class by far has probably been the easiest ive taken! the quizes honeslty take you 2 minutes to do, and the midterm was a breeze. very easy A- take him!
One of the worst. Yes, an easy A, but you won't learn a lot. And, oh by the way, best means to an A is to volunteer for one of the crews. "It's not forced labor ..." Doesn't return calls or E-mail. I should'a taken Music Apprec.
Good teacher. Easy class, but u have to participate if u want to get anything out of it. He's willing to teach if you want to learn, if u're not gonna participate he won't teach (which is as it should be) So speak up in class & have fun!!!!!!
really nice guy- understands that an apprec class shouldn't be overwhelming, and that people are usually only there for the grad requirement. easy assignments, no attendance, it was nice to have such a chill class.
SUPER SUPER EASY!!!!!!! I hardly even went to class except on test and quiz days and got an A in the class!!!!!!
EASY! He's an awesome guy, and the class is a breeze. Tests and quizzes are super easy, there aren't many, you can work on the play's scenery and NOT take the final. You have to attend 2 plays and write a paper, but he's an easy grader!
Great Teacher. One of the best. Makes learning fun. Shows how theatre is part of our everyday life. Take him he's great!
Ron is amazing. He's a great guy, understanding, and helpful. And his kids are fun, AND know what they are doing so they are helpful. Take this professor - he rocks!
very easy, don't even have to go, notes are given to you, no final option
he was easy. he was nice. take him.
One of the nicest and funnest profs i've had. Put in a little effort and you'll be guaranteed a good grade.
Took over summer, recommend to ALL! Had only 10 classes, barely ever took the whole time. Had to go to only 1 play and NEVER did improv. Tests and quizzes were so easy I felt insulted! His Final took 10 mins! Knows the class is total waste of time and makes it easy for us to complete. Beware if have previous theatre experience, you learn nada.
Probably the guy to take for just a gen ed, but I wasn't really a big fan. Tells long pointless stories to explain something that could be simply said in 5 seconds. I felt like it was a waste of two hours a week.
This class is so easy, I didn't study for anything and I'm getting an A, awesome apprec. class.
reaaaally easy class. he's a really funny and nice guy, take the class.
BORING!!!! i fell asleep in class and still got a good grade, some quizzes and a few tests but no biggie. You have to attend to performances and do write ups on them so be prepared, not badt though!
Great, funny guy. Makes lectures barable with some funny stories. Not a hard class at all.
worst class ever. he is very funny i can give him that. test and quizes are easy. your grade is screwed if your class doesnt talk cause he takes an overall particpation grade. so if you get A's on everythhing, hope your class talked otherwise you will get a C
agree w/ person below. i got an A on all the quizzes, papers, and tests....but our class didn't talk. when i asked him why he gave me the grade he did, he said its because of participation. then i asked him what my name was, he didn't know. so how is he suppose to know who to give the right grade too. everything else though in the class is easy.
Hilarious, easy to spend time with, overall good guy. If you haven't met him...you should.
good professor...funny and very easy.
This class was pretty boring but it was pretty easy. You only had to get in front of the class and act one time. Great class to take to fill apprec. requirements.
Easiest professor you will ever take. Its pretty much the easiest A you will ever get.
funny guy, easy class but the participation thing sucks. I tried to meet with him by emailing him and he never responded and doesnt know anybodys name so the people who didnt say a word all semester get the same participation grade as the people who did. have to go to 2 plays too.
Ron is hilarious. He swears, tells jokes, and makes fun of people in a nice way. No homework ever except going to two plays. You also have the option to work in the theatre once a week and then dont have to take a final. I highly recommend him.
We actually returned our textbook the first day of class. I went to class maybe 8 times, did run crew for a production (in lieu of a final) and got an A. If you have ever worked in a theater before for school plays or whatever, this class is a breeze.
doesnt take attendance and cancels class a lot. we only had to act once and didnt have to do any projects. tests are easy.
This class is an easy gen ed. he doesnt take attendance, you have other options than taking a final, and the tests and quizes he does give are multiple choice and easy. hes a nice and fun guy who enjoys what he does.
very very very easy class! good teacher!
No attendence is taken. Like 2 quizzes. You are required to go see the plays and write a reaction paper. The normal mid-term exam AND the best part. He offers an alternate final exam, so you can help out with the play on-campus and not take a final! Funny guy too! Highly recommend taking him for THA 110!
One of the three professors for this class.
He was possibly the worst teacher i've ever had in my life. He gives everyone in his class the same participation grade, it was a C, whether they show up or not. I wrote a really good reaction paper and got a 70% on it for no reason and then i talked to a few other people and they both got 70's too. Plus he is BORING
Ron was one of the worst professors that i had at UWL. He is extremely rude and unappcoachable. He offers an anternative for the final that he makes sound like a better option that taking the final but he really uses it to get 4 good hours of your time to build his set and then give a terrible grade for the final. cancles class at last minute
a few quizes but glancing at the notes 10 minutes before the class is enough to get a decent grade on them. alternate to the exam is pointless because the exam/midterm is not hard at all. discussion grades are unfair. dont try talking to him about them. if you write everything he's looking for in the reaction papers you'll do fine on them
He doesn't really teach. All notes online. Class is basically a waste of time. Info isn't as interesting as it seems. It is really easy, though. I got a B with no effort. I didn't even go to a lot of classes. The working on a play instead of a final is only really helpful if you live on or extremely near campus. Overall, he isn't a "teacher"
Very helpful and knowledgeable. I learned so much and had a great time. He's very approachable and makes things fun for everyone. I would want him as a prof. again.
yeahhhh, so I signed up for him thinking he would be an amazing teacher, and although he can be funny, the class is boringgg, and he WILLLLL NOTTT e-mail you back. I have e-mailed him like 10 times, and he never once responded to my e-mails about my papers or other concerns.I wasn't a huge fan.. but hes all right.
He is the worst professor ever! His class is boring and he can't teach. He tries to make things funny by cursing and making stupid jokes. He seems angry most of the time, probably because he's more focused on building his set. Anyhow, he is unapproachable and rude! I only passed his class by pushing myself to go.
Never went to class and still get A's abd B's on the quizes and tests, everythin you need to know is on D2L. Only bad part is he isan idiot when it comes to class particinmation points, he gives EVRYONE 20/40, whether you have been there 100% or hardly ever, for those who attend everyday this is extremely unfair and a horrible method of grading.
I never knew if he was kidding or not. Sometimes he's a jerk and other times he's funny. Pretty easy class, went once a week if that and never felt like i missed much. all notes are on D2L so it's pretty convenient. 20/40 on participation no matter what is pretty lame. overall, easy A or B without much effort.
His class is extremely boring. He talks the entire time about how cool theater is. Gives quizes that he does not warn you about on picky subjects. Deletes emails if they are not in the correct format without telling you. HORRIBLE TEACHER.
So I'm pretty sure that you shouldn't have to stress out that much about appreciation classes. This one, I put SO much time into and still ended up not getting an A. He gave our entire class a 30/40 on participation even though someone raises their hand every time he wants feedback. I would recommend not taking theater it's so much work.
You would think that volunteering your time to build the scene and do a lot of crummy work would get you a good grade.. It doesn't.
Do not take Ron. He acts as though he is better than the students. When I needed to meet outside of class it seemed like a huge inconvenience for him. If you are on run crew you will be fine, because he will favor you. Overall, one of my least favorite professors.
Enjoyed the class. Ron is very knowledgble & passionate about theater. If you go to class and TALK, it an easy A. If you want to sit and veg out, this in't the teacher for you.
This class is not an easy A at all. Ron is not a nice guy and he gave our entire class a terrible participation grade even though the majority particpated. Terrible teacher. He makes you build his set for him instead of taking the final that takes 2 hours a week. It wasn't worth it at all.
Ron is very passionate about this subject. His lectures can be extremely dull but they are usefull when it comes to his projects. Pay close attention to details because they are key in getting a good grade in his class.
This class was by far my least favorite. The lectures were very boring, and Ron always rambled on and on about stuff that never really mattered. He doesn't take the time to get to know his students very well. I WOULD NOT take him.
SOO BORING! Ron didnt know what was going on and kept changing the syllabus schedule. Has you read notes at home and just rambles in class. Midterm was easy but only got 75/100 somehow. I would NOT recommend.
He's no help, won't ever email you back.He rambles, but usually lets you out ten minutes early.Cancels class randomly, and assignments and quizzes.Hard to get points towards your grade. He's kind of rude and cranky. But it's pretty hard to fail the class at least.
Definitely the easiest professor for theater apprec. Class is cancelled often, tests cancelled, easy projects. An easy A.
i thought i would hate this class but i ended up loving coming to it. hes pretty funny and cancels class a lot. pretty much an easy A if you put forth a little bit of effort.
Joke around with him and make him learn your name and he will love you, especially if you are a girl. But overall if you do the very few assignments hes a decent guy!
Great Teacher!!! I looked forward to coming to class everyday and he made it blast when you were there! Easy work all you have to do is go to a couple shows throughout the year. He is hilarious and all you have to do is participate in lectures to get on his good side. Definately suggest taking this class!!!!
I hated this class. He is a decently funny guy, but rude to students who don't share his opinion. He will never e-mail you back. It takes him weeks to update grades. He will give you grades on projects with no explanation as to why you got points off. I am kind of a nerd, so getting bad grades for no reason sucks. Find a different professor.
Great teacher! Funny and informative. I learned a lot
This class is okay. you must attend two plays and write a 3-4 page paper about them. he doesn't take attendance! take for a gen ed only
Super awesome sauce. He was the best teacher I have had. He cares for each one of his students and goes the extra mile to see you succeed.
LOVE this professor!!! He really cares for his students and is passionate about his career. Ron is not only your professor, but also your friend. Plus he is hot to trot!
Not clear on what is expected on projects or quizzes. Class is boring and for group projects, everyone gets the same grade even if work/quality was not distributed evenly. I would not recommend taking Ron for this class.
Makes class very boring by standing in the front and talking the entire class period without a PowerPoint or anything which makes it very hard to pay attention. Sometimes won't tell you when there is a quiz/exam/project due so pay attention to the syllabus. If possible, try to get a different professor
Ron is a good guy and an easy teacher. He understands that this is a gen ed class. It will get a little boring since he lectures in front of the class for an hour, but he always tries to make you feel included by involving you. Tests and minimal homework are very easy. Can get out of final exam by helping work in the theater. I recommend him.
Ron is really nice guy and keeps the class pretty easy. I think he realizes it's just a Gen Ed for most and not everyone will major in theatre so he keeps it pretty simple while adding in humor. I think i totaled a page of notes the whole semester and never used them. No final if you volunteer at the Theatre 2 hours a week (which I recommend)
Professor Stoffregen is an incredibly lazy professor. He realizes that this is a Gen Ed, but he's so lazy. We were never in class for the whole time, which was nice at first, but then when you get to the mid term and final, you realize how much you don't know. He also doesn't give you as many opportunities for points as the syllabus says.
Ron is a nice guy. THA 101 (Theatre Appreciation) is really, really easy. I don't even go half of the time, and I still have an A. He doesn't take attendance. You can be on your computer or phone the entire time he's lecturing and he doesn't care. He's a pretty chill, funny dude. I like him; I would definitely recommend.
THA 110 with Ron is super easy and chill - if you volunteer in the theater dept. you can even opt out of the final (which I recommend - it's a small time commitment and really fun). He's a very laid-back guy and lectures get a little long, but if you're even remotely interested in the subject they're pretty interesting.
He's just your avergae professor. He's really into the material but is boring to sit and listen to. Didn't go to the majority of lectures and still did fine. Midterm and final. Wouldn't take him again if I had to though..
Ron was a decent guy. The class was super boring. I think I was engaged the first two lectures only. The class is generally easy though if you show up, do the projects, and type the papers. Very few exams.
It was an easy class and Ron taught the material well, but if you had questions don't expect a reply to your email
Ron's a good guy, but the lectures were pretty long and boring. The class itself was pretty easy, but you do need to study for the midterm and final. Also, put decent effort into the acting group project because he's a thorough, fair grader. If he feels like you could have done better, he's not afraid to take a few points off.
Ron made theatre appreciation fun. He usually cuts class short by 20 minutes and cancels every so often. There are a few group projects but they are easy. Tests take no more than 25 minutes to finish. He presents the information in a clear and simple way, also providing all lecture notes online. Participation is key to doing well.
The lectures in this class could NOT be worse. Its like nails on a chalkboard boring as he actually just sits and talks at you for an hour. There is really no use in taking notes because everything you need to know is online on the power points. Easy class, but SO BORING, you will not learn anything. Nice guy! Not a great professor.
THA 110 is an easy class. However, Ron does not reply to emails at all so do not expect him to answer a question.
He's a pretty funny teacher, and knows that sometimes we just don't want to be there. It's an appreciation class so it was easy, do the work and attend the show and you'll be fine.
Super easy class but the professor is really boring and doesn't use class time efficiently. The whole class is chatter and then you'll have tests and quizzes on stuff you never even discussed in class. I do not recommend this prof.
