This guy is nuts. He'll curse you out if you give him a reason. Doesn't really teach. B out of the class easily though. Don't be fooled by the first test. The rest are a lot harder!!

His cynicism gets really annoying after a while. If he catches you sleeping, he won't hesitate to embarrass you. Also, don't get caught doodling. He'll embarrass you for that, too. However, if you do either, I wouldn't blame you. He's horribly boring.

He is indeed a cynic, but he tries his best to be funny so I gotta give him that. You would mostly laugh at his ATTEMPT to be funny, rather than the joke itself. Overall, the class isn't too bad if you attend every class. First test easy, rest r not.

His class was weird. He was very funny, but he always embarrasses people for unnecessary reasons. His tests aren't too difficult, except the grades are never very high. The material was more basic than that of my frosh h.s. biology class.

There are 3 profs. that teach this class. He is the worst. The test is really hard. He is a crazy man, but he is funny. He makes fun of students and is a miserable man. He doesnt make the class fun. You can easily fall asleep.

Lectures are fairly concise, you can easily discern what facts are important and what is likely to be on the tests. Much easier to take notes from his lectures than the other two jokers who teach this class, King & Becker.

What a crazy rum drinkin freak. If he is not talking about how good rum tastes, then he is ripping up a newspaper that you are reading. Here is a tip, if you fall asleep, he will find out and for sure wake you up in an embarassing way.

If you are fairly open minded, you'll love some of the stuff this guy says. Absolute comedic genius! If you are more conservative, you won't like him. Great teacher, actually teaches info that you can apply to everyday life. Go to class and take notes...tests are pretty basic.

He is really funny. Don't buy the book it is a waste of money. All will come from the notes. Make sure you write down everything he says. Even if it is crazy take the notes. Make sure you study in advance and you should be fine.

My friend and I used to have contests to see who could roll our water bottle the farthest down the ramp in Montgomery. When they would make it to the bottom Toth would cheer for us.

Good teacher. Don't piss him off, otherwise he'll walk out of class. He's very funny, but goes off on random tangents that get redundant. By the way, that wasn't rum in that bottle it was just water; he likes to joke around. He breaks down bio subjects making them easy to understand.

if you hate biology and are just taking this class to fill a req do not take this class. the teacher is kind of a crazy scientist which is excellent but the material is just so annoying. also, dont ask "will this be on the test?" because someone did during our class and he got mad and left.

Toth is awesome. Funny and ****ed sense of humor, easy to listen to. Not to mention the class content I found extremely easy (went to class about 10 times all semester, showing up only for tests, and still got a B!) Not a bad gen-ed filler, if you don't mind that walk to MO Auditorium.

He is a funny guy, I will give him that, but dont take the Bio 101 class with him thinking "101, it must be easy". Take this class if your gpa doesnt matter. 3 pages of notes every day and you need to review it all, and I still couldnt get better than a C in the class. Im not the type thats used to having to take notes to pass a class either.

I had intro to Biology and a botany class with Dr. Toth...he is one of my all time favorite profs. He's hilarious and knowledgeable so unless you don't like to use your brain, take his class. Almost makes me wish I majored in Biology.

This class was so much fun! Professor Toth was able to make learning about plants pretty interesting and he was funny too. I saved my notes from the class because the stuff he gives you is interesting. Just don't leave your cell phone behind because he'll throw it in the garbage

Oh he's an entertainer alright! I really enjoyed Land Plants. However, he doesn't show updated overheads and the ones he does show are not very clear. He has thorough knowledge in the material and does a wonderful job of explaining -- sometimes to much detail... Highly Reccommended.

This guy is so funny!! He brings a lot of examples to class, one time he even lit up a special kind of cigarette and passed it around class as an example. He doesnt make you buy a book, the tests are straight from the notes...but the notes can be kinda all over the place sometimes. Go to class and take good notes and you'll be fine.

lets just say he compared eating mushrooms to oral sex...he has a tendancy to ramble, swears at students, oh yeah and said if we didnt pay attention he would give us a spanking lol oh and his hair is constantly out of control. he showed up late for the final exam, lol definitly my favorite teacher of all time.

Toth is completely eccentric. He looks like a mad scientist and is a dirty old ****, but absolutely hysterical. You must show up for class to pass, though. He may seem like a blow-off, but he's pretty tough. A definite favorite of mine.

He's hilarious and entertaining but his notes are confusing and all over the place. Tests are difficult. His grading scale makes it easy to pass but the difficulty of the class makes it tough to get an A or a B. Way to hard for a 100 level class.

In one word: Awful. Prof. Toth is just awful. I did not like his teaching style, his attitude or his way of talking to us, the students. He was always going off into tangents and making it very difficult to follow his lectures. Most of what is on the tests, he doesn't spend much time on. He also makes crude, sexual remarks. Stay away.

Always tries to embarrass students. If you sit in the back, he will tell you daily that you will fail. His notes are all over the place. No need to buy the book,his exams are straight of the notes. Worded tricky too. Entertaining guy, laughed a lot in class. Aced the final, all the questions were identical past exam questions, got a B overall.

Dr Toth was a ****. He classes were a joke and his metaphors for life are very redundant. His exams he wrote for 205 were very easy and then on the final he bombed all the hardest questions he could come up with.

this guy is hillarious. the class is a cake walk. he does sound like a liberal in class, but after talkin to him aside, all he wants is for students to think on THEIR OWN. he puts things in a different prospective. easy A if u go to class and take notes. NO homework, NO book to buy either.

Toth is hilareous. The class is easy, he makes it easy on purpose because it's Interdisiplinary. His comedy routine in front of class makes the subject quite interesting, and I find myself looking forward to this class all the time. As a Tech major, I want to audit more of Toth's classes almost just for the entertainment value, maybe learn a bit.

Complaints that he's liberal biased and crude in his humor need to lighten up. Undergrads who say he is hard are not paying attention or have never met an eccentric professor. Yes he goes on, yes he is a liberal, yes he makes dirty jokes. But in the end he knows his stuff, doesn't ask much and is dead on when he digresses into human failings.

Toth is a great man! Not only is he funny, but he enjoys what he does. He makes potentially very boring material interesting most of the time. Copy everything down he writes down. The tests are basically verbatim from the notes. Lots of stuff to memorize for tests. Grade determined from 3 tests and optional final that can only help your grade

Do not take Prof. Toth for BIOS 103. He rarely writes actual notes on the overhead, most of the time he doodles messy pictures. As a result easy material becomes confusing. He does not present information in a logical, and ordered format. Very hard to grasp what he is trying to teach. Tests are worded tricky.

This is the perfect class for someone as opinionated as Toth to teach! I am really enjoying it. I had him for 305 and I have to say that his methods for teaching are quite different for 305 than that of 442. If you want an easy class and you are not a Fundamentalist Christian, take Evolution vs. Creationism. Bios 442

Toth is not for everyone. Yes he is liberal and an in-your-face atheist. However, my father, grandfather and uncle are all pastors and I just let it roll off. You are there to learn and he is a good teacher. His notes are the tests. Don't waste money on the book. He reviews a little bit each session which is what helps you to remember the material.

Toth is one of a kind. 442 is not for the conservative. It is a class to learn how to debate Creationists who try to get their religion into schools. Excellent prof, and quite humorous. Come to class and take good notes, and the tests and papers will be a breeze. We need more skeptics.

Great instructor, but sometimes gets off track and makes jokes. He does keep you awake during class. Make sure that you attend each class, because his notes are very important. Don't purchase text book, waste of $$. The exams aren't easy. The final is made from past exam questions. You do keep the exams with answers to study. I got an A

he is funny and really old. make sure to take notes since weird things that came up in class will be on there (including stuff not related to bios). the final is questions verbatim from before and help me go from a D to a B. apparently he wears the same ghostface costume every halloween so take it in the fall :) youll pass if youre not an idiot.

Funniest class ever. Most interesting class ever. Prof Toth relates biology to your everyday life. I decided BIOS 101 should be renamed "Drugs with Prof Toth." Even if you skip classes, its basic biology of plants. Second half of semester is all about drugs, legal and illegal. Info I will remember years from now!

Funny/Cheesey guy. Do not buy the book. The class is based off three test and an optional final. I found this class to be super boring, but if you take notes and pay attention, you'll be okay.

I really wanted an A but earned a B. If you like Bio you will pay attention to the details I didn't. He will throw in bonus questions on exams. Avoid being absent, unexpected details will come to you after reviewing graded exam. Record the lectures rewrite notes. He sometimes goes quick and wont repeat. He wants you to write everything he sais.

His lectures are hillarious and extremely liberal. He makes no attempt to hide his liberal views. His is anti-religion, and makes it a point to tell the whole class that. He often diverges on pointless topics.

He is by far the worst professor I've ever had. His lectures are useless - he'll give the same one five times in a row. His test questions are ridiculous and require decoding. He's a total ass and his lisp is just obnoxious.

Funny guy...makes the class interesting and was my favorite class in all 4 years at northern. Grades are based on 3 tests only and the final is optional. if ur close to the next letter grade he'll round up.

Professor Toth was the most outrageous teacher I have ever had, constantly breaking off into random stories which amazingly were related to the material at hand. He does not use the text for this class and his tests are all over his overheads. If you want to do well; show up and pay attention.

Class grade depends on 3 exams, and the final is optional. More than half the time he has a personal story that SOMEHOW goes with lecture... which might show up as x-tra credit on the exam. Main reason i stayed focused in class was b/c he constantly called you out for sleeping,txting,etc. BEST part of class..."who's got a story of a bad trip?"

All biology majors should take this class. Basically, it teaches you how support evolution and oust creationism. Not only is it very interesting, but if you put forth some effort then you'll get an A. It was online and the class layout is very student friendly.

This class was terrible. Online powerpoint slides were hours long with him talking with an annoying lisp and rambling through the slides. 5 hours worth of powerpoints slides need to be memorized for a 10 point test. Then the test questions are confusing.

There was a RIDICULOUS amount of work for this class! I'm talking hours and HOURS and then more hours of power points. I would not take this class again or recommend it, unless you have 60 hours a WEEK to just sit there and listen to powerpoints. Even if you do all that the quizzes are extra confusing.

We were expected to watch at least 10-plus-hours of powerpoint lectures every week, and take a test. The lectures could have been condensed, but parts of them were out of date, and he frequently went off on tangents. The verbiage on many of the test questions could be interpreted in different ways, so he'd trick students into wrong answers.

Overally, id say the class is doable. There is alot of material for a small test. Some questions are confusing as theres more than one possible answer. Dont wait until last minute. Only 200 points was annoying. So in the end i did an 80%, but i checked my grade and he gave an me an A, so makes sense if he adjusted for bad test Qs. Dont buy book.

Took tHe course online, pretty simple and straightforward. The online lectures are on the long side but worth it and you can speed them up 2x so they are not slow. The course is good for science majors. Would take again. Not as bad as others make it seem easy A just watch the lectures.

Professor Toth is gifted with presenting a Plant biology timeline of discovery, & the most important key terms & information that will be tested, don't skip lecture. This class alone made me interested in botany & medicinal plants. I looked forward to absorbing the information this man acquired during his life & beautifully revealed to us.

Took two online classes with him, put them off until late November, and finished them in 8 days. 60+ hours of lecture easily, go on double speed. The tests are super easy and hes fun to listen to. There is no way you take this course and fail.

Clearly communicates objectives & expectations. Explains material thoroughly. A lot of information is presented so tests sometimes difficult, but if you pay attention and do the work, you'll be fine. Very down to earth (no b.s.) guy. Genuinely cares about learning & passionate about material.
