optional attendence, homework is extra credit, three tests. Would be fantastic for those good at math.

I don't know what these other people are talking about. This teacher is very smart and teaches well. Test are multiple choice, and homework it all extra credit.
Professor Anderson is by far the best professor at saddleback. Every aspect of his class is very organized and he is extremely helpful. I can't say enough good things about this professor.
One of the best math professors I have ever had.
The teacher wasn't clear enough in class information. Thumbs down on this teacher.
Boring class! you want to take this class if you need to catch up on your sleep.
Although the class is kinmda boring, he is a very nice teacher. no final or midterm and he will answer andy question you have. He is one of the better teachers here.
Mr. Anderson was a great teacher. Sure the class was boring, but he wrote everything on the board and them some! He was very clear at explaining the problems and answered all questions. The tests are multiple choice which makes it easy.
GREAT PROFESSOR WHO WILL TAKE THE TIME TO ANSWER EVERY QUESTION IN CLASS. TESTS ARE GREAT IF YOU PAY ATTENTION. GIVES OUT HOMEWORK PACKETS TO DO HOMEWORK.
He was a good professor, alot of h.w. but easy test. And he's cute...
Fast paced, weird teaching method-always ask student which # on the book would like to be learn. All exams are multiple choices using scantron- which is lame! If your a slow learner and wants a step by step math teaching method, I advise not to take him.
Anderson was a very good teacher who made equations understandable and easy to learn. His lectures are relevant to that nights homework and before turning in your homework you are able to ask him to solve any of the problems you are having trouble with.
Anderson was the best math teacher i have ever had, he always took the time to explain any questions i had, there was alot of homework but it helped to get deal in getting "A" on the exams.
He is a nice guy, but that is all I can say about the guy. All your work comes out of a workbook, you don't really need to buy the Math book.He doesn't really teach. The class is boring as hell, get out when you still can!!!!
This guy is hot!! and the class is pretty easy too.
Very, very hard class for me, but I suck at math. Went way too fast for me but it was a summer school class so it's not really his fault. The guy himself is really bright and generally a pretty good teacher, but his class had an insane amount of homework.
he is great
Nice professor, 8 homework assignments, all multiple choice, tests are multiple choice, there are 3 tests and he tells you on the first day that you dont have to come to class, he is nice, goes a bit fast but he is the nicest and actually helps you out
easy class, amazing teacher, great lectures easy A
Excellent class. Has a unique teaching style that makes it easy to understand the concepts and equations. Would take again if he taught the class i need next. The tests are fairly hard but do the homework and you will be fine.
best math teacher i ever had. very clear, easy homework, gives u most of the answers that u ask, tests are easy and he lets u use the ti89, best calculator ever!!! I HIGHLY RECOMEND HIM TO EVERYONEEEEEEEEE
He is the best math teacher I had in all my math life. HW is multi choice and so is the tests. Just do quizes before test b/c those Q's on the quiz r on test. 20 Q's on each test. U can use Calcs (TI89 is the BEST!). No commulitive tests! Turn in HW every 2 weeks! Take Dr. Anderson! He is the Best!
BEST TEACHER EVER. So strong about his subject and is very nice. DO YOUR HOMEWORK and THE QUIZES, get on his good side. HE ROCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Great teacher. only 3 tests, and HW is extra credit. the tests are only on 3 chap of the book...so once you take a test you never have to remember it agian!!! if you are looking 4 an easy math class take this. he also doesnt take roll.
He is truly the best teacher I have ever had, very kind ,clear ,and helpfull, if you are unsure about taking the class,NO WORRIES, just take it! Good Luck
GREAT teacher! I hate math, and he made it much more enjoyable than I would have expected. 8 homework assignments done on scantron. Everything is multiple choice. Will explain things as many times as he has to and as many different ways as it takes for everyone to understand. Recommend to all.
Good teacher, Helps you out with every question in hw. The only thing thats bad, he doesnt really push you to do stuff, its all own your own, the way he teaches is very loose, so if you need some one busting your balls, he wont....very good
Great teacher. One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Super helpful and honestly cares that you understand what he's saying. He moves really fast, but he doesn't mind at all if you ask him to slow down. I hate math but his class ruled.
Explains things well and clearly. Helpful. Does not assign problems from the book, uses his own packet which at first didn't seem right but I quickly learned to do all the homework and make sure I did my best because you can't check answers. Homework can only help your grade and test are multiple choice. Got a B
AWESOME teacher!Explains everything CLEARLY and will take the time after class to make sure you understand things. Not required to come to class.Grades everything fairly but to your benefit. If you take notes, you'll get it.Math is boring (when isn't it though?!).But if you stay the whole class, you'll get the h/w.I recommend this teacher!
the course went fast, I never had a chance to open the book, working full time I just studied through the lecture my notes, and the assignments. I am doing good, it tells you that he is an excelent teacher!
excellent teacher, if you love or hate math i recommend him 100%. don't need math book, which is great, it saves you $. He's a little fast, but clear, he writes everything on the board. gives you plenty of time to turn in assigments, and he goes over any question you have over the HW. his class is 1/2 going over HW and 1/2 lecture. time flies by.
The best math teacher I've had! He is so helpful and really wants his students to pass. Rarely ever had to open a book. His notes are very clear and accurate to the 8 assignments in the homework packet. He gives you 3 tests and is generous enough to drop your lowest test score! Take him, you won't be sorry!
TAKE ANDERSON!
HE IS FLIPPIN HOT
HE IS FLIPPIN HOT
Good teacher, helps you if you want it all you have to do is ask.... I highly reccomend him
He is cute. He teaches very well, and is super friendly and a great sense of humor.
This is a wonderful teacher! He will go over anything you want. It's ALL in your hands after that. Frankly he kicks ass
coolass teacher. very helpful very fair. wants you to do well and will make sure you do. he surfs for gods sake. good teacher.
Although I hate math and probally will fail do to my own stupidity, Anderson is awesome. He really cares about his students.Homework and tests are all multiple choice, come on can't get any better than that.
Very nice and very helpful. Study, get help at LAP or ask him. He goes really fast on his lectures when he solves equations so just ask him to slow down if you missed what he did, hes cool about it.

He is very nice and a good teacher. Does not take attendance and doesnt require you to be in class. 3 tests. 8 homework assignments. Homework helps you but doesnt count against you. Tests are hard though.
good teacher does not have set office hours to go and see him if you need help but you can ask all the questions you want while your in class. Does not take role so you better find it in your self to go to every single class take very good notes and study really hard if you want to pass the class.
Basically He's awsome. come to class EVERY time even though there's no role taken. He'll help you with ANYTHING. HE explains things in a way that they become memorable. He's very smart, and now i'm not afraid of math. Thanks to him. (:
great teacher! he would let the class out early, you go over every HW on the date it is due, only 8 HW, 3 tests, each HW is due every 2 weeks so you have awhile to do it. Although he doesnt take role GO TO CLASS! you will miss a lot by missing even one. He was extremelly helpful, if you need help after class he is more than willing to provide it.
becareful with him, he grades accordingly to if you deserve it or not.
Ron Anderson is the star of the math department. If you've failed math251 or 253 before look no further – you’ve found your savior! Makes it seem easy but looking back he’s sneaky tough. Builds confidence but pampers the mathematically feeble. You MUST do the homework but it has a huge impact on final grade.
He is amazing. I absolutely hate math and he made it easy for me to understand. He always makes sure that everyone understands the material. I can't see how you could fail this class.
the best teacher at saddleback...explains things in the best way...YESSS take him
Anderson is great and explains all material. He is a great teacher, nice, fair, doesnt take roll, and homework is done on a scantron. I loved it. I did well.
He is the best teacher! He really wants everyone to pass his class. You need to do really good on the homework then you can do bad on the test.
becareful with this guy
ive just got to say, he wasnt my favorite.
He is simply the best. Very nice, very laid back, and he will do whatever it takes to help you understand as long as you ask. Homework only helps, not hurts and tests are multiple choice. If you put in minimal effort, you will be rewarded. My first A in math.
best math class ever, i hate math, homework is only like 100 questions every 2 weeks and only 3 tests, takes time to re-explain if needed , nice guy
he sucks dude...ppl think he is easy but he bites you in the ass..if he likes u he will pass you other than that good luck
BE VERY CAREFUL!!! Spent over $100 on textbook and he doesn't even use it. Uses his created material which leaves you with no examples or definations. His style is very fast, even though he says he will answer any question. Be aware, his style is not for everyone.
This guy rules! You don't have to buy the textbook, instead you buy a $15 hw packet. 3 tests, multiple choice, and you can use any calculator you want. Anderson is more than willing to answer questions and provide any help he can. If you suck at math, look no further! Anderson is your man!!!
this teacher is the best
Professor Anderson is a wonderful teacher. He is more than willing to answer any questions and makes sure everyone knows the material. He does not use the textbook, and there are only 4 homework assignments (200 problems each) and 4 tests that are on those homework assignments. O you can use any calculator you want!
I took this class during the Summer. OH BOY I WAS THANKFUL IT WAS ALL mult. choice!!! I kick myself for taking it c/nc because I got an A. I wish he taught at reasonable times this semester-would have preferred him for 253--- TOTALLY recommend HIM TO EVERYONE. DON't BUY THE BOOK! I am still ticked I did. NEVER USED IT.
Didn't buy the book, just a packet with the 4 assignments. 4 tests make up the majority of the grade - drops lowest. Dr Anderson goes quick but he answers every question before the next lecture. Make every class, study, use the lab and an A is possible but I recommend CR/ NCR for Math 253 and below.
He will explains every questions you ask. Do your homework then, you will not be behind. You will enjoy his colorful notes on the board! Even CH goes fast as long as you do homework, you will get an A. No need book because all you need is his notes!
A really great teacher. He will take the time to answer EVERYONE's questions. Really tries to help you understand the subject. You don't need the textbook. Just buy the packet and test scantrons. He doesn't take roll, you don't have to attend every class. Just make sure your there for the test days (4 in all). Very good teacher and class.
great math teacher! take him!
200 multiple choice questions for homework assignments every other week! We had the first test before we freaking got our homework assignment back to see what we sucked at and we understood. God that pissed me off! I'm losing faith in this site. I thought he'd be easy, but the class sucked. And no, he's not hot.
Great teacher! Mellow, super nice and helpful. DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK. He leaves it up to you to figure out what kind of grade you want. So, show up to class to find out if you understand the material and ask questions if you dont.
This class was great. Your grade is determined by four homework assignments and four exams with the lowest exam dropped. I haven't done math since 2001, but I got an A in this class. He's very helpful and has no problem answering any question. LAZY PEOPLE WILL FAIL! Just study a little and do your homework and you'll do fine.
He is the nicest math teacher ever. He takes time to explain and clarify equations. Do your homework and you'll get extra credit.
Mr. Anderson is a great math teacher and goes out of his way to make sure you understand the material. He uses his own problems, comes 5 minutes late every day and lets class out early every day. He knows his stuff and it was a pleasure taking his class. I recommend his class if you do or don't know algebra. He will teach it to you!
This teacher is GREAT! BUT, you have to pay attention!! Homework is important. He goes over it before you even have to turn it in, so you should get an A every time. His tests are hard, but he is willing to work with you after class and if you just attend class you will learn something! I sure did. And he is not bad to look at either.
This class was hard! I barely passed with a C. He goes over easy material in class, and then give extremely frustrating homework, and the exams are just like the homework. If you are good at math and don't like to attend class he's the teacher for you. However, if you need to be taught a thorough understanding of algebra he’ not your guy. He’s not
LOL at other comments..obviously written by himself. Hw questions are not hard, but you don't know if you are getting them right bcuz you turn your hw in on same day as test. Test ?s are much harder than hw. Only 15 ?'s per test. only 4 tests.
tells the class that most of you will not pass the semester and it takes an average of two semesters to pass. Which is true, only 20% of the class finished at the end with me. the homework is harder than the problems he teaches in class
Only take this class if you are already good at math. The tests are much harder than the homework. If you need a math teacher to hold your hand, Anderson is not your guy. Be careful
I think the reason everyone likes this teacher is because you can come and go as you please, and he only holds class for an hour or so, but this is not a good class for students who don't catch on quickly. He goes very fast, and only goes over the easy questions in class. Many times I left class feeling as though I understood only to open the book
He is a nice professor. He is a little fast. If Algebra is not your thing, this class might seem a little hard at first. If you do the homework you will get some extra credit, which helps. Attendance is not mandaroty, but if you go you will learn. I passed, even though I am not good in Math.
tests are harder than the homework, which is harder than what he goes over in class which is the easey stuff, funny guy though i dug his sense of humor.had to work my butt off for a "C"
If you attend class and do your homework when it is assigned then passing the class is not hard. If you want an A or B you have to put that little effort in, since it is college
Horrible teacher. Classes are an hour long. He does the problems very fast and skips many steps so you are left wondering how to do any of the problems. 200 hw questions, 30+ a class session. 15 exam questions. There wasn't a single person who got a C or better on the first test. This class is EXTREMELY hard.
He's one of those professors who prepares you for your next class with difficult hw problems(not mandatory but do help out on his 10-15 question tests). Good teacher if you go to class and pay attention.
This teacher was horrible! He does the problems from the notes super fast and when you ask a question he says "its simple.." You have 200 problems to do before every test that are turned in on a scantron and his multiple choice tests are really hard. You dont get any partial credit on any test either! DONT TAKE HIM!
Very good class to take, but you must show up to class to be able to follow. Not very hard and Anderson is a really laid back teacher. I Recomend
I do not understand why a math teacher would put the most complex, difficult questions on the test. Isn't it most important to teach the basic concepts and help students learn the material rather than try to "dupe" them on the test? I guess this class is for people who don't need a class or a teacher to learn algebra.
Bottom line, Hes a good teacher. Nice guy, explains well, ya you might have to work a little to pass. Test are hard but they are a good challenge. Im average in Math and I passed.
Awesome Teacher!! Teaches right out of his lecture notes. Do the homework, it's like extra credit! Multiple Choice Tests!!!
Good teacher for those who need to understand math. Anderson will prep you well for Math 124 and 2. Lots of hw but not graded (very helpful though) and he even lets you drop the lowest test score... Overall easy class, somewhat hard to get an A..
If you know that you are capable doing math, you can pass math. If your not strong, at least try it out. Gives alot of hw. Testing is not the same as hw. His wordings are different and harder to understand. That is my thought.
you dont have to buy the book all of his notes are word for word written out for you in his notes that you buy which are cheaper than the book. Easy class. Tests a little difficult but as long as you the homework you can fail all the tests and still pass with a C
Dr. Anderson is amazing. I never understood algebra until I took his class. He makes everything seem so simple. Notes are amazing, and you don't even need the text book. Tests are hard, but all the homework is extra credit. I flunked three of the tests, did only half the homework and got a C. Seriously amazing, highly highly reccomended!
Prof Anderson is probably one of the most intelligent math professors I have ever had. His disposition is awesome. It seems to me that he is really there to serve the student and not is ego. He is just a very likeable, articulate, helpful, person as well as an amazing Prof. Though,I was told not to take him-they were totally wrong.
I think the students who gave Prof Anderson poor reviews were probably below average in their math skills and yes they should have taken someone else...too bad they didn't see beyond their own limitations and judged him unfairly-This is College.
He's a very nice teacher and very helpful. However, you should already have above average math skills. He does lecture very fast, doesn't really explain what he did. Homework is optional. He teaches you stuff from other more difficult classes to "prepare" you, but what you do currently in the class is already difficult. Puts the hardest questions i
He seems like an easy teacher in the beginning, but he is extremely hard teacher and a very rude teacher. He is not willing to help you at all. He makes his tests harder than his hw that he will give you. He does not curve on giving you points. He is a rude person. He told me in my face that I am not god taking test and your not good at all.
this prof. is horrible! does not explain every problem to the end, expects you to know how to finish it. VERY hard tests, VERY hard class to pass. its a JOKE! guaranteed to fail.
OMG..last week's test was so difficult! I was caught off gaurd by a few problems I hadn't seen before...definetly harder anything on the homework. Dr. Anderson is great prof. He is always willing to help if you don'y understand...just make sure to ask lots of questions!
Anderson preaches, he does NOT teach. His class is purely excellerated and is for those with beyond a solid foundation after Beginning Algebra. He goes like lightening throughout the classwork, speaks mostly to the blackboard, works out his own problems and NEVER engages his students. There are much better professors to take for 253.
Don't take Anderson! I am an "A" student in math. He reads from his lecture notes - the homework is much more difficult than what he teaches. On top of all that, his tests are harder than the homework. Test questions are few, but you must be able to do each problem within 6 minutes and each one is 6.6667 points. So you can only miss a few.
Stay away. All he does is go over problems from the book. There is no teaching taking place. He stands there waiting for people to throw out problem #'s to go over. No explanations of anything. The type of math professor who knows everything, and has a hard time with the thought that some students don't get math and might need special attention.
I have read many of the comments on here and it seems to me that many people don't seem to realise that this is a COLLEGE class. Dr. Anderson is not going to hold our hands and beg us to get it. However he is very easy to understand, and is very helpful if you simply stop and ask him for help. I look forward to taking more math classes with him.
I've taken a lot of math teachers but Dr. Anderson is by far the best! He has such a good way of explaining to students, he writes all of his notes and he makes it so easy to understand such hard material. He is always in a good mood, answers every single question you could have. Doesn't require attendance but you WANT to go!I got an A so easily!!!
He is very nice person but not a very good teacher. I have a 4.00 meaning good study habits i did all the homework and got %90 but failed all the tests because they were nothing like the homework i spent 80hr in the LAP and still did not pass his class Everything in class is scantron meaning no partial credit. If not good at math take someone else
I am in the honors program and get all A's. But I am not that good at math, I did all the work and studied more then required and did not pass his class. Dr Anderson is a extremely pleasant and intelligent person but I do not think he understands if some one in college is in beginning algebra they need extra help to build a solid foundation in math
One of the worse teachers, doesn't want to to teach, and doesn't explain anything.
He's adorable and funny. I've never had an issue understanding any of his lectures. That's an understatement, actually. He's the best teacher I've had all year.
Prof. Anderson is the epitome of efficiency. You go in, you learn some algebra, you get out. He doesn't waste your time with chit-chat or irrelevant baloney. Pleasant, easy-going personality. Tests aren't easy, homework is extra credit. Goes fast. If you catch on quick, you'll like him. If you need your hand held, look elsewhere.
So many Haters! Dr. Anderson is AMAZING. He makes his class painfully easy, and he explains things wonderfully. He curves his class so that one can get a test average of 55%, and as long as you get in the 90% range on the homework you still pass. Out of all four tests I only misses one problem since the tests ARE the homework problems. LOVE him.
Anyone who says this class is easy must be a whiz at math. Most of the students in my class got D's and F's on the last two tests. Still, if you can do the homework correctly (there is a LOT of it), it counts as extra credit to bring up your test grades. Not for the faint of heart, for those who don't "get" math, or for those who work slowly.
The summer course is obviously extremly fast and if you miss a class you will miss valuable explanations for problems that WILL be on the test and homework. As for his teaching, he is pretty dry but explains what you need to know very well. You must pay attention and try not to fall asleep, haha. If you focus it's an easy class.
Professor Anderson really cares about his students, but makes such easy material more difficult that it should be. The tests and homework constitute your final grade, and the tests are very difficult. If you are not solid in math, you will not pass this class, regardless of how much time you put into it. Not for the faint of heart.
He doesnt take attendance. He doesnt care if you come late or leave early. Most of the time there would only be like 5 students left by the end of class and he never took up the entire math period. his class is good if youre good at math, but if youre not strong its hard because he goes really fast. we have 200 math problems for hw before each test
he is hard, not your typical introduction class to algebra, seemed more advanced than algebra 2
attendance is not mandatory, he doesnt care if you come late or leave early, no one really stays till the end of the class, goes really fast, dont need to buy the book, 200 homework problems for each chapter (4 chapters), tests are pretty hard, dont take him if you are bad at math, he goes way too fast, he is nice though
Nice guy. Teaches way tooooo fast. He is hard with grading because homework and test are all scantron. No chance for some credit for doing the problem. All or nothing
DO NOT DO IT! He teaches ABOVE Math251 level in THIS class?Good if you?re already above Math251, BAD if you came to learn. He has absolutely no teaching methodology and should take a teach-the-teacher course. Takes pride in NOT passing students?HIS ARROGANCE WILL DISGUST YOU. Do yourself a favor and spend your time and college funds elsewhere.
MR ANDERSON IS AMAZING... HE IS SO HELPFUL AND EASY TO UNDERSTAND. ALL THE PEOPLE WHO SAY THAT HE IS HARD DO NOT PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS... EASIEST CLASS I HAVE EVER HAD IN MATH... MAKES MATH ENJOYABLE AND FUN. WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER TO ANY ONE WHO STRUGGLES IN MATH.
Way to hard for math 251 class. Takes pride and admitts on the first day that half the class wil fail. Half of class that you need to be placed in from matriculation. How does that make sense? As mentioned no chance for effort on homework cause its scantron so you have a 1 in 4 chance of being right. Speeds through material 2 let class out early.
Doesn't care about attendance so you don't care about showing up, but showing up reeeally benefits since he does some hw problems before lecturing. He has a good natured attitude and is helpful in answering questions. No textbook needed. 15q exam, 200q hw, basically if you do the hw the exams won't be hard. Drops one of 5 exams. Good math teacher.
Good math teacher, made things clear and does all problems step-by-step on the chalkboard.
Aewsome teacher for 253, i've taken it with two different teachers, and Mr. Anderson made going back to college motivating because the other teacher was so much harder and more confusing. Anderson is the way to go! TRUST ME, i wouldnt bother commenting :) Cheers.
Anderson is a great Math teacher. I took 253 during the summer so it was pretty difficult but any math class you take during the summer is going to be hard. Anderson is very motivational and his teaching is so easy to understand. Make sure you do the homework though or you won't understand it. It's extra credit anyways so not doing it would be dumb
This guy blows! His class was so hard and I'm not even bad at math (just a little rusty). He would help if you asked questions but wasn't clear.
If you are an older student or math challenged, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS FROM HIM. Test q's (word prob) too difficult for the time allowed. If you are a Math/Sc. major, take him. You'll be ahead and speed wont be an issue. He should offer solutions, many are not finishing 1/4 of exams and homework q's too hard to develop speed.
Best teacher. he explaines everything very well. its not required to come to class but he goes over lots of material. tests are pretty hard though
best math teacher ever, he helps you out as much as he can tests are a little hard but if you do the homework you will totally pass his class. easy A as long as you do the home work since it is extra credit =] take him if you can
Even though he does not care that you go to class, you have to go inorder to understand the material. On the tests they are 15 questions and it is multiple choice. so if you made one little error, you will still get a 0 on the problem instead of half credit. He is a good teacher and if you put in the time you will pass the class.

You have to pay close attention. I thought it was all very clear. I would recommend this prof.
His lectures are great, they are fast and to the point which made it easier for me to pay attention. His tests are tough. As long as you do the homework you will pass the class but you have to work hard.
Teacher is easy going. Don't care if you attend class but he is really hard to pass. No homework only for extra credit and 10 HARD questions in test.
Such an amazing teacher. He wants to help everyone and will stay after class to help you. Clear in his lectures and his lecture notes are very helpful. TOTALLY would recommend this teacher to everyone
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. Tests are twice as hard as the homework. I dropped his class twice and got an A with Chung.
He's a very articulate lecturer, but his five 15 question tests are HARD! Homework is optional & considered extra credit, but trust me - you'll want to do the 200 question homework assignments (4 of them) to offset your test grades if you do poorly. Take this class as pass/no pass.
I TOOK HIM TWICE AND DROPPED BOTH TIMES, MOVES WAY TOO FAST. MARZOLO WAS WAAAAAAAAY BETTER
I started off rocky because I missed a few lectures, but finished strong. I suggest showing up because the lectures are HELPFUL! He answers any HW ?'s at beginning of class & teaches the rest of the time. Gives tips, techniques & answers all HW ?'s, so you can see how to do them correctly. Don't take it if you're lazy.Study & practice & you'll pass
Prof. Anderson is great! He says that that attendance and HW aren't mandatory, but you're still going to have to show up and practice on your own to pass. For students who are curious about higher math, he does well at incorporating elements of trig and calc in to his lectures and HW problems. Just be self-motivated and don't fall behind!
Homework is EC. He is not clear and does not take the time to go thru everything but if miss class u are behind unless u know what ur doing. He's cool and a good teacher if u don't need a hand to walk u thru it. I liked him cool guy
Im not a math whiz but think he's a clear teacher and i love how he takes the first half of class to answer questions from the homework the night before. i haven't opened the textbook cause betweenn his lecture notes and lecture, I'm doing fine. Homework is extra credit so DO it cause tests are only 15 Qs. attendance isn't mandatory. chill guy
He's awesome. You're able to do things at your own pace, he explains everything well but bc he's not strict you really need to be on top of yourself u have to work hard just like any other math class. Plus he's super cute ;)
Great professor. Very easy to understand and uses helpful examples. He made a note packet so the book was superfluous; very accessible and easy to follow. HW iis extra credit and you can drop one test (except the final). Highly recommend.
good teacher overall but always in a rush to get out. we can use more class time for people who arent really getting it, hence the are in 251W xtra help would be nice in this class
He was awesome! Him using the different colored chalk really helped me understand.
Awesome teacher! Very helpful & smart. Homework is extra credit, doesn't care if you show up or not, does not care about you being late or leaving early, so if you're going to take his class, you MUST stay on top of your game! exams were challenging but overall great professor!
He will help as much as needed, but his exams are hard even if you didn't miss any of his class and did all the homework. Do NOT buy the textbook, just the notes and HW. I am still not sure if you would recommend him, I don't think I would take him again. Nice guy though.
He's very nice and smart, but his tests are hard!!! I attended class regularly, even though it's not mandatory, and struggled. I spent hours doing the HW. It's EC but I needed every point I could get. I am normally great at math, got an A in math 251 and Stats, but his class was challenging. I wouldn't take him again.
HORRIBLE. does not explain at all. was lost for more than half of the semester. Do all of the homework and practice..he at least is good about replying to emails
Very nice and helpful guy. He cares about you and your grade and will take the time to help you if needed. No textbook is needed, instead he gives out his own lecture notes and homework assignments. Attendance isn't mandatory, which is why I failed his class.
Such a nice guy. Wants all of his students to do well. If you do well on all of the homework (4 assignments each 200 problems) you can still get a C in the class if you get a 50% on all of the tests! Attendance is not mandatory, but you will fail if you dont go.. Show up, make a good impression, do the homework and you will do fine.
This is a weird situation! He is extremely helpful when you talk to him, but his lectures are wayyyy too fast. And no, I'm not a grandma or someone who hates math. His quizzes are 10 questions so if you miss two things you are already far from an A. It's ALL multiple choice so you NEVER get part credit even if you knew everything up to the answer
He explains each example in great detail and in multiple ways with different colored chalk. He answers all questions asked in class, even the dumb ones. In his class, you will learn this as long as you pay attention and do the homework. The only downside is the amount of homework he hands out but that's what it takes to learn this stuff I guess.
He is so clear and extremely helpful. One of the best math professors I've ever had. Extremely organized; if you follow his notes and lectures, you can't go wrong. Do your hw. The hw is usually harder than the exam but it preps you super well! He does word problems for every section though which makes it more challenging than I thought. Take him!
Great guy and great teacher! I am awful at math and I struggled a bit. The hw is not mandatory but ec and its helpful if you do it... just stay on top of it!! He is super duper nice and funny!! Very sweet teacher.. I enjoyed taking his class even though I hate math!! His exams are hard though... be aware!! other than that... take him over torabi!!!
This is a difficult course. I took it last summer and I wish I took it in the fall. Anderson makes everything clear and takes the time to explain whatever you don't understand. But the tests are hard. I studied my butt off and never missed a class and ended up with a B. Homework as extra credit helped a lot.
Mr. Anderson is one of the best math teachers at Saddleback. He will go over everything in detail and give you short cuts to save time on homework and tests. He's very nice and only cares if you show up to take the test.
Dr. Anderson is the best professor I ever had. He has a lot of experience and knowledge teaching this class. His lecture notes were designed by him to help you with understanding the class. He will give you his best every day !
I have always been good at math until I took his class. He solves math problems in ways that I've never seen or heard of, and doesn't reallly teach you anything about how to solve the problems his way or the correct way. He is a nice guy but not a good teacher
Professor Anderson is an extremely gifted teacher. Uses different colored chalkwhite board maker for clarity Extremely patient and explains concepts easily NO BOOK ** He has created his own material ALL lecture notes are typed out and extremely easy to understand, in addition to ALL homework being typed out. Sad he doesn't teach STATS. passnp
I am a student who always buys the text book for every class. But for this class, it is not at all necessary to buy the text book. Anderson's Lecture Notes are excessively sufficient. Anderson is the kindest teacher I have met at Saddleback College. Most of my teachers are dramatic and angry but not Anderson. Tests are multiple choicescantron
He literally does not help you at all. Writes with chalk, and wears Hawaiian shirts everyday. Don't waste your time with this professor. You purchase the notes and the worksheets, which you barely even use.
Professor Anderson test were thought and the homework was multiple choice and when the test come they were hard.
Extremely gifted teacher! If you do the homework and show up for the lectures you will pass. I wish he was teaching STATS. No book: he types up all his lecture notes and homework, available to purchase in the book store. Take these class PassNo Pass so the pressure of getting an A doesn't weigh you down. I highly recommend professor Anderson!
I have NEVER been a math person but Anderson almost made me enjoy mathematics. He gives the student every chance to pass the class; HW is considered EC and can only benefit your grade. His notesHW are very neatly constructed and the tests are fair. He has a great sense of humor and truly wants to see you succeed. LOVE this professor!
Anderson was, without a doubt, the one of best teacher I've ever had. Very clear and knows the material very well. Very organized. Homework is extra credit and notes are optional. Tests can be challenging, if you do not do homework or follow his notes. Can't be lazy in this class , but he is a wonderful professor and CARES about you and your grade
Professor Anderson was BY FAR the BEST Mathematics teacher I have ever had the pleasure to learn from. He has great little stories to go along with his teachings that will make your day brighter. If you need a math course have HIM as your Professor!
Absolutely the best "Algebra" teacher I've ever had. He's clear and easy to understand. His expectations are clear and set at the beginning, you know exactly what to expect and how to pass the class. You can buy all the notes and so you have everything you need in case you miss a class. Since you have the notes, you can listen and watch.
The best math teacher I've ever had in my life. He's a nice and funny guy and the homework load isn't hard at all. Get him if you can.
He's a nice guy but if you aren't already good at math don't take it. Too fast but his main issue is he gives you so much homework you won't have time to study and in the end the homework doesn't make much of a different towards your grade anyway.I wish someone would have said this to me before taking this class. The tests are scantron also.
As a person, Prof. Anderson is amazing. However, being a person who struggles in math, I didn't like the way he grades you. Your grade for the semester is based off of 5 test. These test have at the most 15 problems. So there isn't much room for error. However he does allow you to drop your lowest test score at the end of the semester.
He's a very nice and funny guy. All the homework is extra credit, but it's 200 problems and you're assigned to do about 25 problems after every lesson, so if you procrastinate it'll be a lot to do last minute. You can get around a 60% on the tests and with homework score of 77% and you'll pass the class with a C. His tests are hard though Take N/NP
Anderson is a great guy, very helpful. Do all the homework and study hard before each test and you will be just fine. Highly recommend taking him.
I took Math 253 with professor Anderson years ago and I absolutely loved him. He goes through the problems relatively fast, but I encourage you to raise your hand if you are ever unsure of something, and don't ever hesitate to ask questions. I am pretty good at math so I loved his class, but if math isn't your subject this class might be rough.
Took his class twice and not because I loved it so much. it's a very hard class. HW is for extra credit w/ each section due on the day of the test - DO IT because his tests are scantron and there is no opportunity for partial credit. Could not care less about attendance. He uses his own packet of notes instead of a textbook. Boring as all hell.
Professor Anderson is extremely approachable and is willing to stay after class to help you with problems. His lectures are super clear, even though he goes fast, because he follows along verbatim from the note packet he wrote (definitely get it!!!). However, his tests are incredibly difficult. The homework is extra credit, but definitely do it.
Great guy and a phenomenal teacher. Homework is extra credit. Tests are tough, though if you show up and do the homework, you should pass no problem. He gives you the option of pass/no pass if you're afraid of getting a low grade in the class, and it won't lower your GPA. He explains things very well, good for anyone who struggles with math
Professor Anderson is a really great guy! The homework is extra credit and there are only 4 tests in the course. He drops your lowest grade. His notes are very thorough but i recommend showing up or you will be completely lost.
took his class twice didnt pass twice. tests are always harder than the homework. all multiple choice. that's the only advantage (but that's subjective)
If you think you have a grasp on algebraic basics then maybe you should take him, but if not, I wouldn't recommend it. He moves way too quickly and it's almost impossible to understand. Homework is extra credit (200 questions per chapter). Everything is multiple choice (including tests but tests are HARD). Didn't pass twice. Not the class for me.
Mumbles, talks to fast, no text book, uses he own 100 pg homework & 100 pg practice problem worksheets &lecture notes ($60), 200 problems before every test, 4 tests, 1 final on scantron. Spent 4-6 hrs+/wk in tutoring. Adds advanced questions to see if you are paying attention. Got an A+ in pre-algebra, had to drop this class. Need new Teacher
He's awesome, and really cares about students understanding math. Has his own packet of notes and assignments - buy both of them, not the textbook. Homework is extra credit (200 questions due 4 times), and you'll need it. I averaged 60% on the tests, but my homework average was 96% and I ended up with a C. Take his class!
Dry, almost unintelligible lectures. Means well, does in fact care about students and holds office hours. But don't be fooled by the fact that tests are multiple choice, they are not easy.
I'm very good at math, I love it, but Mr. Anderson changed that. Worst math professor I've ever had. His tests are Scantron forms, he talks very fast and you won't understand anything unless you study the entire lesson by yourself. Give yourself a favor and don't pick his class. i learned this the hard way
He has his own Notes and Homework so don't buy the textbook. Homework is extra credit but do it, otherwise your entire grade is based on 4 tests and he drops your lowest test. this class will be hard if you don't show up or ask questions. I got about 80-90% in the homework and 60-70% on the tests and passed with a C. doable, but you have to work4it
5 Sections, 5 Sets of Homework, 5 Tests. Homework sections are 200 problems, and is completely EXTRA CREDIT. 3 of the tests are 15 problems, 2 of them are 10 problems, and he drops the lowest score for your final grade. You don't need to buy an expensive math book, because you buy the homework and notes instead. Much cheaper. He's hilarious! LOL
I would only recommend him if you are good at math. There is a lot of homework although the homework is extra credit it is very difficult. When it comes to the test there are only 5 test and they are extremely hard.
Currently in Math 2, and have to say that Math 253 with Anderson was hands down one of the most difficult classes I have taken. After passing his class, every math class after that felt like a breeze. Not sure if its the class or the teacher, but don't feel like a failure if this class is extremely difficult for you. I showed up to all classes too.
It has been 20 years since been out of school and math is not my strong suit but this teacher really helps you understand and helps walk you thru problems so you can understand. All his homework is extra credit , so if you do all the homework you can do good in the class. Tests are not long but if you don't go to class or do homework you will fail.
Professor Anderson is the best teacher in mathematics . I recommend his class to everyone who wants to learn math . Amazing lecture notes and assignments will help you to get an A in his class . He helps you understand math .
Professor Anderson is a really nice guy. He seems to care about his students and doesn't make you come to class. His tests are all 10-15 questions and they are hard! If you are reviewing this material I would recommend him, if you need to be taught it I would take someone else.
Anderson is overall a pretty rad professor. HW and class is not mandatory but HW is extra credit. Class is 4 sections, 200 questions for EC HW, 4 exams 15 questions each, and drops the lowest grade on both . He has lecture notes available to purchase and spends the first 30 minutes of class going over problems from the homework.
Worst instructor ever had. Does not go section by section slowly but passes along the sections too quickly when going over our hw. Don't take!!
He does care for his students and is a really cool, funny guy, but his class is very hard. I would recommend taking his class if you are confident in your math skills because as the semester goes on, the homework gets very hard and the tests do as well. He drops your lowest test score and the hw is extra credit but just very challenging overall.
He's funny & caring but lectures are wayyyyyyyy tooooo fasttt!!!!! Essentially, if you take this class you better take a tutor session as well. HW is extra credit, but it gets tough. I took it twice, withdrew the last time because I wasnt able to get my grade up after a certain point in the class. two tips: GO TO A TUTOR, DO THE HW.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Tests are exactly like the homework and only 10-15 questions each, with the lowest score dropped. The professor goes over all homework questions as many times as you need and never turns down a question. H/w is a significant amount of extra credit and he is willing to work with your grade.
As someone who isn't great at math, I have had other professors that are more compassionate than him. Mr Anderson gives no partial credit for math homework and tests, homework is only worth 10 percent of your grade and each test is only 10 questions and multiple choice. If you think you can pass without partial credit, then be my quest. do not take
Great teacher. All homework is extra credit. He spends about an hour at the begining of class going over homework questions. 5 tests and he drops the worst score. Answers any questions clearly. Great teacher.
If you dont have TIME to study or you are very BAD at math do not take him. People get overwhelmed because he only grades with test and gives little extra credit with homework. Most Math instructors on campus, if not all, grade like that at 253+. Himself, he is a good teacher and a cool guy, He likes yo make silly jokes on class which are funny.
If you are looking to take this course in the summer. Be warned. I haven't taken a math course since junior year of high school. I'm not bad at math but this class is EXTREMELY FAST. DO NOT BE OVERCONFIDENT LIKE I WAS. Anderson is a fine professor but the class should not be offered in the summer.
If you are taking any math subject for the first time, or taking it after many years of not being in a math class, I wouldn't recommend Mr. Anderson. The way he operates his class is mainly to help students pass a class that they failed recently, which was me. But, his tests are straight from the HW and only 15 questions which is really nice.
he is a good teacher and will give you extra time one on one to explain a homework question, ect. He is very passionate in his work. Mr. Anderson is a very good teacher and kind, if you struggle with this subject this could possible be a chance to pass a class. The homework he gives out is very helpful when it comes to taking the test. I recommend!
First 2 tests and final are 15 problems, with 2hr 15min time. 2 tests inbetween are 10 problems with 1hr 15min time. All multiple choice and 1 can be dropped. All the homework is extra credit and theres 800 problems through the semester, but they are multiple choice and EC. He is funny and makes Star Wars jokes. He also has guide books he made.
Do not take this class if you want to pass. The amount of homework he expects from the students is ridiculous and just not possible if you have a job and take other classes. The tests are really hard even though he might say the questions will be easy. Just overall a horrible experience.
Mr. A is a witty, kindhearted, and extremely intelligent person. He is the reason I was able to be successful in college. I often miss class b/c of social anxiety but his extensive notes allowed me to feel like I was in class as I read along at home. It shows that he spent HOURS ensuring his notes will help students truly understand concepts.
the test have the hardest questions! the 200 homework problems are optional but even doing all of them and getting tutored I still struggled with the tests.
Anderson is an amazing choice for anyone who generally struggles with math. He's written his own set of notes and homework problems, which leaves purchasing the text unnecessary. 4 total exams, with the ability to drop the lowest of the first three. The homework is extra credit and can give your grade a huge boost. Caring and super helpful!
He is a really good professor.
I love this professor. He will respond within minutes to your email and can ask ANY questions you like answered.
Don't take if you struggle with math especially during Covid-19, we can't do in person classes. There are no zoom calls for the course. He posts videos on YouTube with the lessons. Then take the exams when the time comes. I really struggled bc I have a learning disability in math I signed up for his Math support class didn't post on Canvas.
He is fast at responding and helping students who need assistance. He responded to me quickly and with care when I emailed him! I liked how he would point out in the lectures what was on the test or not, it really helped me study for the test and focus on what was more necessary.
He has been the best math teacher I've ever had. 4 tests about 20 questions each. There is no final. As long as you do the sample exam and understand it you will get a 100 on the test.
I chose math10 (intro to stats) thinking it would be best for me, I havent taken a math course since HS & Im class of 2014, the math itself is difficult but hes great at helping & answering questions! Email him youll get a same day response. The homework is 200 Qs long & its all optional/extra credit! Exams are only 20 Qs. Would take again!
BEST. TEACHER. EVER. Literally just do the sample exams and the tests are just different numbers. It was the easiest math class I've ever taken. I got 100% on two tests, a 95% on one test, and a 99% on the last exam. NO FINAL EITHER!
I took his Stats class & his intermediate algebra class, he teaches the same for both subjects. All the homework (200Qs each section) is all extra credit. The exams are only about 15 questions. To calculate your grade, you need to use a formula to figure it out, he doesnt use canvas or post anything (grade wise) online
After many subpar instructors, I was relieved to have Prof. Anderson for Statistics. He's smart and his lecture notes are amazingly written. Not having a math course in over a decade, I was nervous taking this as a condensed summer course, but it's been great. With notes, videos, and practice homework I felt I had the information needed to succeed.
he is great teacher, very helpful whenever you need his help. Just follow exactly what he instructs you from online, study hard, and he never lets you down.
He is a nice guy. Unfortunately he is easily distrated. His homework is too hard and there is too much of it. 200 questions due really quickly. He talks too fast. Even with allowing the use of a calculator and the formula sheets, tests scores usually average in the middle 60's. Had to take again. ?Gave me a passing grade, but not for transfer.
The best math teacher I"ve ever had. Makes stats very easy to understand. Homework is extra credit and can improve your grade by a whole grade level. His exams are exactly like the study guide. He's funny and gives little stories in class making it more interesting. Easy A. Cares about students. Attendance not mandatory.
Andersson is good, but does move very quickly through his class which can make grasping the concepts a bit difficult. The homework, which is a 200 question assignment due on test day, is considered extra credit but can give you and entire letter grade boost if you do it. STUDY OUTSIDE OF CLASS. The practice test is EXACTLY like the test, so DO IT.
Professor Anderson is fair, easy-going, great at teaching and will take the time it needs for you to understand the material. He's really awesome. Do those exercises assigned and you're golden.
Easiest A if you do your work and pay attention. Sample exams are EXACTLY like the tests, so as long as you do your work (200 extra credit questions that aren't mandatory) you'll be fine. I was worried about having to take math but Anderson is funny, caring, and makes the class so easy. You also get cheat sheets for exams that have formulas. 15/10
There is absolutely no reason why you should get anything less than a B in this class. He gives you 200 EXTRA CREDIT homework problems that can easily bump you up an entire letter grade. On top of that, he gives you formula sheets to use on the test AND the sample exam is pretty much the test with different numbers. Take Anderson.
He made his lectures easy to understand and fun. For most exams I got Cs but thanks to the homework I got an A(200 homework questions that are counted as extra credit). Gives formula sheets on exams and exams are pretty similar to sample examples. Buying the textbook isn't necessary since he has his own set of notes and homework.
4 tests & 4 homework packets that are extra credit. Super straightforward. He explains w a lot of examples and his lecture notes have literally everything, even the jokes that he says out loud. I ended up ditching a ton of his classes and still did very well because the lecture notes are super precise. ATTENDANCE DOESN'T MATTER AT ALL.
Very nice guy! Grade is completely dependent on tests. Extra Credit can be gained from 200 problem homework each chapter. Will be a difficult class if not naturally good at math. Lectures are not very helpful but tests are easy if you do the homework.
Very good teacher, came into class after 5 years of not doing any sort of math and his class helped refresh my knowledge and I was able to find a passion for doing math. Highly reccommend!
This class was difficult at times since there are portions he does not explain very well however, he gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit. I did have to visit tutors but once you understand the material comprehension comes easily. He doesn't use Canvas which sucks when you want to see your grades but he is available for anything.
Took this on the summer with other 2 classes and it was pretty easy. Getting an A is doable. All the assignments are extra credit and there are 200 problems each chapters. Attendance is not mandatory.
Professor Anderson one of the best math professor I had for stats. Beware he teaches fast and I had to stay after school almost 3 times a week with a tutor at saddleback to over the material he had taught. HE DROPS ONE TEST SCORE IF YOU FAIL. His dropping that test saved my class average. All homework is extra credit. Best professor by far!
Professor Anderson is one of the best math professors @ SB. If you're ready to learn statistics, he is there to make sure you get it. There are no stupid questions, even if he has covered it a few times. He is a leave-no student behind, kind of professor! If it's hard initially, hang in there, don't drop the class. I promise it gets better!
Intro to Statistics will be as hard as you make it to be. Missing days will set you back a lot so it is best to attend each class. The only grades in the class are 4 exams with one being dropped at the end of the semester. He also has 4 200-question homework opportunities to go along with each test. The HW is optional and extra credit.
Fantastic teacher. If you're dreading taking a math class, take his class.
DO THE HOMEWORK! Not doing the 200 question extra credit set me back the most. While attendance is not mandatory at all, you can fall behind if you miss a class. Anderson talks fast, but he knows his stuff- always ready to answer questions and do what he can to help. If i had a do over i would put more effort in, you get out what you put in
Homework is extra credit, lowest midterm is dropped, and all around he's a cool guy. He makes his own notes and his own assignments, also $30-ish. Everything he teaches is directly related to the tests, you get a test rubric before every test and test are easier than the harder homework problems. Recommended if you have self discipline.
TAKE HIM FOR MATH 10. 200 points of extra credit for each exam, there are 4 exams including the final (noncomprehensive). Attendence is not mandatory, but helps a lot. If you consistently show up to class and do the 20 question practice exams before each test, your pretty much guarnteed an A.
class was easy but lectures were brutal as he tends to go off track a lot. All hw was extra credit but it was 200 questions which was a lot! Attendance is not mandatory but I definitely recommend going or else it will be really hard to catch up. Overall the calls is easy if you keep up with lectures and hw assignments.
Professor Anderson's MATH10 class is a great option if you're looking to build your math skills. The lectures can be fast-paced, but staying engaged and using resources like unstuckstudy ai and the optional homework assignments make it manageable. Attendance is recommended, but not mandatory.
Professor Anderson has become my favorite professor so far at Saddleback. He's caring and genuinely wants all his students to pass his course. I suggest also signing up for his Support course Math210S for Math210 as the longer time makes it so much better to get through many Homework questions in and a good enough time for the Assignment Lectures.
Took Math 10 and Math 2105 joint class to finish requirement. The professor would frequently go on tangents not related to math and would eat into valuable class time. This came to a head with him ranting about transgender people and going way over time when I had work immediately following class. Withdrew from the class. Please focus on material.
He is so talkative. He usually gets off topic A LOT. One positive is that he does the problems you have trouble with in class before the lectures. The assignments are 200 questions BUT extra credit. You do have to spend around $80 on the binder, notes, problems, and more. Had to have a private tutor for his class and I'm still failing his course.
Don't read the older reviews, very, very rough class. Hands you 2 binders full worth of papers and a couple of scantron sheets and that's literally the whole class for the entire semester plus 4 exams. Class time is just Q&A with maybe 7 questions being able to be answered. You cant just hand us a freaking packet yo its gotta be face to face. 0/10
This class was pretty tough…at least for me. Gives 200 problems but gives you a month to finish them. Test are 20 questions which is pretty nice. He talks very fast and frequently gets off topic. I received lots of help and I'm still failing. Thanks to this class my gpa will change and I will have to retake a math class
Prof Anderson is a great professor for Math! Loved taking his class for stats. Yes, stats is hard, but I still got through it thanks to his help. He does a great job teaching the class but he can talk very fast and can be hard to keep up but still he is willing to help you and wants you to pass. Overall, a great professor for math. Well done!
Prof Anderson is so nice and teaches thoroughly. During the support class, he takes time to go over any questions you have on the homework. He actually cares about the class and has good lectures. If you attend lectures and practice, you will definitely succeed.
Amazing Professor. You can tell he cares a lot about his students. His lectures are very thorough and will help you succeed(although not mandatory). Practice exams are almost identical to his exams. Overall, class is very doable and professor Anderson will help his students succeed.
I'm a high school junior who took Math10 during the summer. His lectures were great, and I liked how he went over some questions from HW during class. The tests are almost same from the sample questions, so it is easy to pass if you study. Overall, he cares about his students, explains in detail, and is super nice :)
Amazing math prof, I struggle A LOT with math and I got an A in his class. He cares a lot about his students and if he sees you show up to his class and take notes he will cut you some slack. His lectures are great and goes over hw questions. Practice exams are almost identical to his exams. All the hw is extra credit and you get to drop an exam.
Awesome guy, I'm just not too good at math
He talks fast but explains things well. Homework is extra credit and there's 4 total exams. He color codes on the board during lectures so it's easy to look at. Can sometimes get off topic but I'd take him again if I could.
