Reminds me of Phoebe on FRIENDS. Kind of ditzy. nice guy. Brings candy to class around the holidays. Wants you to get a good grade.Dont expect to learn much though.
If your not serious about learning and want an easy A you take him but if you want a challenge save yourself the trouble because hes a horrible teacher and doesn't really know jack squat about design and he really isn't honest with critiques
if you want a degree in design but dont actually want to know how to use quark this is your guy. he is nice enough but you'll end up with a career at the burger king.

He teaches the very basics and i hadn't learned much at all. The curriculum has him teaching us how to do things on quark that should've been done on some other program like illustrator instead. His classes are very easy and he's a funny character. Also likes to talk about the icon magazine, which he runs.

He doesn't give you real criticism. He's nice but isn't a fair grader because people who deserve a D get a B+. So where is there justice?
I had this guy my last year there in ad design. Complete waste of time even attending the class. Your better off staying home and working on ur book. I bs my whole way thru this class to an A. How is this guy head of the dept.???
He's nice and really corny. He talks WAY toooo much and goes off topic very easily! Sometimes when he talks a lot, he rushes through the remainder of the class time because he spent too much time talking. He means well, though. Assignments were not difficult. Sometimes he grades you on the spot.
He just got his BA. This man knows nothing, total waste of time (and money!!!).
Helpful
Teaches real world advertising and graphic design
This man knows very little about InDesign. I spent a long time trying to figure out how to do a very simple thing, and he was no help at all. He isn't even sure what he will assign, or what he has assigned, for that matter. He says one thing one day, another the next. On another planet, or from one!
He did work in the Advertising field but he talks too much and is not helpful at ALL. He will give you an easy grade, but if you want to learn something, anything, then...he's not the one...dont expect him to teach you... AT ALLL.
This man is tops in my book!! Helped me a lot with great advice when I was going through the toughest personal problem in my life!
WASTE of time
He's the best! We learn a lot. We'll use what we learn in class in industry for sure!
He's one of the NICEST professors and he truely wants the best for his students. He really means well and even though his class isn't really challenging, how can you complain? It's a basic intro style class about InDesign. If you want someone harder, go sign up for someone elses class, pff.
Nice guy, not a very good teacher. Seems to have some knowledge in that murky soup of a brain, but it's buried so deep in non-sequitorial nonsense that finding anything useful is nearly impossible. Again, nice guy, easy A - but if you want to learn something I would recommend you get a different prof.
Awesome guy super nice hard teacher but i learned a lot so nice though more teachers could learn from him as far as how to treat students
Makes learning inDesign fu!
Excellent. Learned a lot.
Good guy with good intentions... doesn't always add up to good teacher with good lessons. I didn't learn much, even though I feel his heart was in the right place. I think he needs better organization in his lesson plans
easy class, good teacher no text book
Mr. Basca is a nice guy. He is also the worst teacher I have had here at FIT. A complete waste of time. Nice guy, waste of time. Did not learn anything. He would leave for 45 mins to go get coffee, and just generally did nothing.
He is a nice guy but I don't think anyone learned anything, he was not organized at all, and asked for a lot of unnecessary busy work type stuff. Yeah the class is an easy grade but that doesn't make it good.
A study in incompetence, and that's putting it nicely. He's nice but nice does not a adequate professor make. We sat in the class for 6 hours a week while he held up outdated advertising books. Would not give us grades on our work so we had no idea how we were doing in the class. Nothing of use was gained from this class.
For sure the poorest teacher I have had. Fantastically nice guy as the other posters have posted. But did not learn a single thing. 6 hours a week for absolutely nothing.
Total waste of time, but like other people have said he is a nice guy. He seemed like he came to class unprepared and did not even know any of our names till maybe halfway through semester and we saw him 6 hours a week. This is my second time taking a class with him. I would rather eat glass then take another class with him.
Great teacher. Learned a lot!
Great class! Added lots of material for my portfolio!
Ron is the best. He make InDesign easy to learn. I know I will get good samples in this class for my internship.
Professor Bacsa really loves teaching. We are learning InDesign. And how to do graphic design. This class is fun!
Thanks Professor for all your help! You are the best!
Very supportive. I'm glad I had the opportunity to be in this class.
Excellent class. It helped me able to build a better portfolio.
Positive energy. Is inspirational. Is enthusiastic and makes school an enjoyment!
Great class. Great projects.Top teacher. Like!
This professor really loves teaching. He is always helpful and encouraging!
This professor has always helped me. Excellent!
Professor Bacsa is a quirky, super-nice guy. He gets really excited about InDesign, and motivates his students with praise, inquisitiveness and humor. Really cares and always helpful. Can't lose!
He's a nice guy, but the way he runs his class can get a bit irritating. However he's a easy-grader and passing is just a matter of doing the assigned works which is all done in class. But InDesign is something useful for AMC majors, so I would keep the textbook (Less than $20) although you don't use it for class.
He seem nice guy but if you want to learn design and skills for real word, don't take his class. His advice and critique is useless.
i enjoyed this class. it wasn't challenging but i definitely learned a lot. I love the professor he is so cute and funny! I recommend this class.
Very nice teacher and makes a few jokes once in a while (not very good jokes though haha); easy grader, and really easy class. It is hard to actually learn in his class though because he will explain the same thing over and over again, and teach the simplest of things, that you could figure out in like five minutes; and 2/3 of classtime is freetime
He always pushes us to a higher leveland to be better
Cutest, funniest, happiest old man you will ever meet. Great professor and easiest class ever. Its the most relaxed class I have!
Such a sweet professor. His enthusiasm for indesign is evident and it goes without saying that he truly cares about how his students do. The class is super easy. Definitely take it if you can.
He's the best!
Excellent
Tops!
Excellent experience!
Professor Bacsa taught us the power of InDesign. I am confident now about this program. Thanks.
Inspiring professor. He makes me want to always do better.
Quirky guy with a weird sense of humor. Usually keeps us in class for most of the 3 hours, but in the end I really did learn how to use InDesign! He often goes over the same thing several times and class can get very boring, but if you show up, follow him, and make adjustments he suggests it should be an Easy A! Book is definitely NOT necessary.
Professor Bacsa's class is very interesting. Overall it's very easy... and extremely entertaining! There was barely any homework and never any tests. He gives you lots of freedom with assignments and encourages you to be creative. Things can get monotonous towards the end of the semester while you wait for him to meet with each individual student.
Professor Bacsa is super cooky but his class was extremely easy and he's a nice guy. All of the work is done in class and he shows you how to do it, so if you miss class you might get behind. He explains things 100 times so though its repetitive it's easy to stay caught up on the work. Take this class if you don't like homework
We learn Indesign. We also learn extra things such as creating animated gifs! A lot of fun!
This class was a breeze. If you show up, do the assignments and participate, you're sure to get an A. He shares a lot of interesting stories too and he's really nice. I'd definitely recommend him if you're taking a heavy course load.
If you show and do the assignments you're sure to get an A. You can finish almost everything in class so there's rarely homework. No midterm or final, just a portfolio of your work at the end. Definitely take his class!
Prof Bacsa is the best! Class is super easy and he gives everyone an A. Leave early, show up late. He is a little confusing when he teaches but will help you out one-on-one after the demo if you need. Tells funny stories. No homework, no tests, just easy assignments due by the end of the semester. Would def take again.
As a professor, he is not that great at being efficient and punctual with his explanation and lecture. He talks about very VERY simple classwork for AN HOUR. As a person, he is very caring and thoughtful. He is there to give you help and support from where you actually need to go.
I think people are too harsh on this professor. He is a bit quirky, but his class is a nice break from the other rigorous classes we have to take as Illustration students. I learned the basics of the program, and how to apply it to my craft. What more could you need from a required class? He is a passionate and informed man who just wants to help.
Great class!. Contests with real clients. Presentations to clients. Prize money. Excellent portfolio pieces. I like!
SUCH AN EASY CLASS. The projects are fairly simple, no tests, no final, no midterm. We had to write about 5 one page papers on some advertisers. He brings us gifts too, he's so cute. He does ramble a lot and most of the class is a waste of time bc we'll do work for like 30 mins and the rest of the time he walks around looking at our work
Professor Bacsa is lowkey adorable. While he does take way too long to explain simple computer concepts, he is always ready to help if you don't understand. He's funny and gives away free stuff once in a while. No tests or homework, just in class projects. Just your best to be artistic and you will pass!
He is such a quirky adorable teacher! He gives out free gifts here and there. The homework assignments are pretty easy, just a paper on a couple of advertisers. Easssssy easssy classs!! Would take him again.
Professor Bacsa is a very nice and quirky man, but not the best teacher. He is there to help, but it can be hard to get far in class. Over-explains a lot of material and it can be frustrating.
Professor Bacsa is a very sweet man. He has a tendency to ramble on, but he will teach you the basics. The work is easy as long as you follow directions and have some creativity. Very little homework, just some simple papers for our portfolio.
Excellent professor! He knows his stuff! I feel confident about what I can do in inDesign
Professor Bacsa is an amazing professor. He is very nice and sweet. If you don't understand something with InDesign he takes the time to show you, he knows his stuff! Would definitely take him again.
He is a very sweet man, and the class is very easy as long as you do the work and show it to him at the end of the semester in your portfolio. He teaches the basics of InDesign, but unless youre very creative you wont have amazing projects. He is an easy grader and tells lots of stories.
Easy class. He is very nice and funny. Can be hard to follow because he's all over the place sometimes but is always willing to help. Would take again.
This class is easy and he is nice, but it's also all over the place. With this professor, you will most likely be confused a lot of the time. DONT BUY THE TEXTBOOK! He is not clear with what he is looking for in your assignments, youll have to print things 10 times before he likes it. I got an A on everything but got an A- overall (oh). No exams.
He will literally make you confused all of the time in class, he makes its so hard to follow and get work done on time. Even with the virus going on, he expects us to work on projects on InDesign at home.
Due to COVID I've had to take this online but he is all over the place to the point that's beyond frustrating, 90% of class time is him rambling about non relevant info. Also impossible to see what he is doing on his computer so you will have to figure out how to do it yourself. Would cancel class & then 30 mins before say class was back on.
Professor Bacsa is like a kind grandpa. He's very nice and will give out random extra credits, but It may be hard to follow what is going on. If you are confused you can just ask him. You do not need the textbook. You need to pay attention in class to know what is going on.
Very caring but fails to be effective with remote learning. He is an easy grader and always provides feedback on assignments. If you are a learner that needs clear and thorough instructions handed to you, this may class is not for you. You will need to watch YouTube videos for help. Do not buy the textbook. There are 2 essays only 1 pg long.
All over the place, constantly rambling off topic. In online class it's difficult to tell whether he's talking about the assignment we're doing or something random (which is usually the case). He's hard to reach through email & doesn't respond, if he does it's not helpful. He doesn't grade most projects until the end. ASK QUESTIONS DURING CLASS!!
He isn't clear on what exactly he wants us to do, so ask just to be sure. However, he has a hard time answering the questions directly & starts talking about unrelated topics, instead of answering questions. The projects aren't difficult, but his long unnecessary lectures create hours of confusion. Really sweet guy, but I think it's time he retire.
Prof. Bacsa is a sweet man. I want him to be my Grandpa. He had trouble transitioning to online, but once he got the hang of it he was fantastic! Loves to answer questions and will always go over material if needed. He loves when students participate, especially while we're online. Easy grader and gives good feedback!
Really nice & easygoing but I basically taught myself everything.
Prof. Bacsa is so sweet and adorable. He gets off topic though and sometimes it's hard to follow what he's talking about. You kind of have to teach yourself some things, but he always grades very leniently and gives out a lot of random extra credits. The class might seem tough or confusing, but if you just complete the work it should be an easy A.
Professor Basca is really good with Indesign, and an all around caring and understanding professor. He was lenient with grading and due dates, gives lots of extra credit opportunities, and loves to talk! You will be pretty proficent in Indesign basics once you finish!
He is so funny and a real gem to have as a teacher. Work isn't really due until the end of the semester and its really easy. He gives you unlimited attempts at all projects so no matter how you do you always have a chance to redeem yourself. Super funny. Loves TikTok. Goes on personal tangents for hours. Would love to have him again.
My passion for inDesign and graphics prompted me to complete CD 122. In class, Prof. Bacsa has been very helpful and patient, teaching the students step by step. He always gives extra credit if you put effort into your work. After completing the course, I became a master's tutor in his class and shared what I learned. An excellent professor.
Professor Bacsa was very sweet and always gave us extra credit or free gifts. He's a joy to learn from and he was always encouraging us to become better designers than we already are. InDesign is something that I have used well into my career, and it's all thanks to Bacsa. If you want an easy-going course with a funny professor, take this class!
