His class was really easy, but I guess cause it was a remedial. He's a really patient teacher, sometimes he may ramble off about something else but I guess he does it to make the students feel comfortable. All his tests and quizzes are a piece of cake; they are all based on the chapter sections.
he is a great teacher and he knows we work. i would love to have for my 4 years of college.
WOW! HE IS SOO AWESOME, EVERYTHING IS ONLINE AND HE LETS YOU RETAKE THE TEST AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WANT UNTIL THE DUE DATE. HE REALLY CARES ABOUT HOW PEOPLE ARE DOING! REALLY HELPFUL FOR THOSE NOT SO GOOD AT MATH
I took the class online and I'm making an A...I have never made an A in math.
HE is a wodreful, and sweet profesor. His tests are easy and he does count attendance (only initaling a sheet) he drops lowest grade and he is always available to get together with him. i would have taken him for College Algebra but couldn't make the time he was teaching. he is a great professor.
his teaching method is kinda confusing. Students constantly have to correct him. Seems like he's trying to teach himself while teaching class. But overall...AWESOME guy. so sweet to the students. Willing to reschedule due dates for assignments. Little boring but easy A
Class isn't so bad until you hit calc. Then truely I wish you good luck. The homework online becomes very difficult and no tutor on this part. Midterms are worth tremondous amount of grade. In addition don't miss class he goes by very fast.
His class was pretty easy, only went to class for notes and did all homework and section tests online. He's an overall nice man with a caring heart for his students.
does all homework and tests online so it's super easy and he gives you all the time in the world to get everything done. You don't even really need to go to class to get an A
So Easy, very nice guy, will do anything to help u out, everything is done online so just make sure u actually do the work. Finals are alright, everything is multiple choice which is good, highly recomended.
Prof. Brashear is a really nice guy, very helpful. I'll be honest, he tries to make the class as easy as possible for you.(Online homework/quizzes..multiple choice)..all tests are multiple choice. If you are bad at math, but have to take it, this is probably the easiest way to pass.
He is such a wonderful prof. He really cares about his students' success. The class is not just easy, but I actually LEARNED a whole lot. He makes it so easy to understand and retain the info. Take him!!!
Very easy and nice professor. Tries very hard to make things very easy. All homework and quizzes are online and very easy to pass. Tests are multiple choice and fairly easy. There are two midterms and a final. Very nice teacher. Highly recomend to anyone especially if you don't like math, like me!!!
This professor is great! If you hate math or it is just not your thing. Take him.
crazy ol' brachere cracks me up!!
whish I could take all math classes with him. Homework and quizes online are great! Sometimes boring but is a very nice teacher.

If he was around when I took college algebra before I would have taken him. He explains this stuff in normal people terms he isn't way about your head. Can be boring but what math class isn't? He is outgoing and has a good sense of humor. 4 tests total and drops your lowest score and counts the highest twice.
good teacher, take him if you like math, if you dont forget it, try to avoid him
brashear is absolutely great. if u have to take college algebra, TAKE HIM. he is sooo easy and he presents the material in a way that ANYONE can understand it. i wish i can take him for every single math class.
EASY, you can not fail unless you never show up!!!!
He is probably the sweetest man I have ever met. The course was easy, he is good at explaining, never bored me. He is very absent-minded, and can be repetitive, but he's a great guy.
he is the easiest teacher i have ever had. i rarely went to class and still made a A+ but i tend to be good at algebra. he is such a nice man and tries to make sure you understand everything clearly. i highly recommend him!!!
If you are not good at math, this teacher rocks. He does tend to speed through the material during class, but he is more than willing to help with ANY homework(which is online)problems you bring him. He puts practice tests online 1 week before exams, including the Final and works the ENTIRE thing out in class prior to the exam. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
this class was ridiculously easy. i felt like i was doing 8th grade math. Brashear is super nice...totally willing to help every student. but the class was boring...b/c the material is the same old stuff youve learned before. so if your looking for a really easy class to get your math credit..this ones it.
Professor Brashear is a very good professor. He's easy to approach with questions. Good course to take in the summer! Recommended!
very nice guy. gives multiple examples and explains the process of working the problem out. the homework load isn't too bad.
dont wait until last minute to do hw. exceptionally easy class. sign in sheet everyday and counts towards grade. slowmoving class. he kind of annoyed me tho and i dreaded going to his class bc he repeats himself like crazy. but otherwise an easy class, and super nice professor
Wonderful professor! If you don't pass his class with at least a C then you're just lazy. Attendence helps your final exam grade, very approachable fella, and his lectures are really clear and easy to follow. Also if you do good on the final he'll replace your lowest test grade with that.
Really great guy! Very easy to understand, and very helpful. Dont kno a person in that class i met that didnt like him. Easy to get a hold of. Uses MyMathLab which is the greatest thing ever. Plus he reopenes all the homework grades for a week if u missed any.
Prof. Brashear is awesome! His lectures are very clear and concise and he is always willing to help you. The SI sessions are very helpful too so if you are having problems go to them for help. Just do the homework and attend class and you should be fine. Oh yeah and did I mention that he uses a curve on exams!
I took the Internet course and the class was very easy since you had basically unlimited tries to get a question right on the homework. The only thing that wasn’t on the internet was his tests, we had to go to the campus for that, but the test reviews online are almost exactly the same as the real tests.
Although I really am not that great in math, Professor Brashear is a good teacher. He is always willing to help you, and doesnt ever get upset about anything. Homework is online, and you turn it in every monday night, but its really easy b/c you get numerous times to correct it until the deadline. You also get credit for going to class
very nice and helpful man, no book all in class and course compass. Gives review tests online its exactly like test, its only half the answers, helps alot. hmwk is online coursecompass.attendance he gives as xtra credit. Go to class once in a while.
Awesome professor. Go to class and get your attendance points. Great tests (multiple choice), allows notecards, gives you half the test on the review for each test. I'm horrible at math and managed a B. Take him, definitely do not take Jones.
If you dont want to learn about simple maths, this is the class you need to take. He has never learned how to explain mathematics; quite often makes mistakes on the board.
ALL HOMEWORK IS DONE ONLINE...HIS STUDY GUIDE BEFORE THE TEST IS HELPFUL...NOT HARD BUT NOT EASY EITHER
he gives out MUCH homework. quiz every week over the homework sections. tests are not too bad. He does curve slightly. calculators are allowed (that will save your life). I never do understand what he says, and I often have to go to the Tomas Rivera center for tutoring. I don't like his teaching, but I do like his tests and his grading curve.
Very helpful and willing to work with you if you put in the effort. Will work one on one with you during his office hours. Was always there for his students and enjoyed teaching. Cool person to know!
I really didnt find his lectures helpful, only understood what he was trying to explain bc I took the class in highschool, theres alot of hw, and the quizzes and tests arent bad, always attend the 2 classes b4 tests because he goes over problems that will directly be on the test, class was overall easy, if you already understand calculus.
unfortunatly for me, i had a tough time in his class. he is a really nice guy, and always available for help. i felt like he went too fast in his lectures, did give curves on test though. if you have a background in cal your good, otherwise your going to have to get a lot of tutoring
Instructor very willing to assist students. Also recommends SI and tutoring lab as needed.
Down to earth and professional are the first two words that come to mind to describe him. Very good at what he does. Has excellent class demeanor and very helpful. I don't have the best math background but I got a B, not excited but go to class and study every week and you'll be ok. I would recommend taking him. Great guy.
He is a great teacher! His test are pretty easy. theres lots of hw but easy quizzes in your lab. Very helpful with explaining problems. He wants you to succeed. I recommend him to whoeveer takes him! Great Teacher!
This prof. is the best math professor I have had in a long, long time. Not only does he assign homework that is useful on quizzes and tests, he gives study guides. I am NOT a math person but he made the class great. TAKE HIM!
Mr. Brashear is a great math teacher. He is very approachable and will help you if needed. He gives study guides and homework to help you understand the material. Very smart guy. Had a good time in the class.
One of the best professors i have ever had. I am NOT a math person AT ALL and i got a B in his class (almost an A). You don't have to buy a book and all the homework is online. The way he teaches his class together with the online stuff was really helpful to me. If you are not good at math take him. You also get credit for attendance.
Pretty good teacher. I took him for a may semester early in the morning so it was difficult for me to pay attention for the the full 3 hours. But if you pay attention he explains concepts fairly well and you should do fine. Pretty nice guy too.
I had him for Pre-cal Honors. I don't like his teaching style at all. He just points at things while talking and does examples at the end. I wouldn't take him again.
I totally agree with the person below. His teaching style is horrible he points and talks rarely using the chalkboard. Not taking him again.
Very good professor. Real nice guy, made class enjoyable and was always happy to help with anything. If I had one criticism it would be that it's hard to ask questions during lecture because he gets into his own sort of zone. But you can always ask him after class or during office hours. Learned a lot, highly recommend taking him.
Great Professor! He does lecture by talking about the information and does examples at the end but he also uses mymathlab for the homework. It makes learning so easy. Take what you learned in class do the homework and you should get an A. Did I mention the program lets you keep trying until you get it right or that the tests are multiple choice?
One of those professors that gets you excited about the course material
great math teacher! i am terrible at math but i did well in his class because he explains everything so well. he is also a super nice guy, if you ever need help with anything he is more than happy to help! i highly recommend you take him!
this guy gives so much extra credit its unbelievable! You can write formuals on the board before th test, drops 2 lowest quizes, 5 points bonus question on final, 8 points on final for attending all classes, 3 point curve, and final replaces lowest test. Not only that, hes fun to listen to and very helpful outside of class. i rate him 9.9/10
There was no extra credit, he just let us to redo homework to improve our grades. Tests are ridiculously long - no way to complete them normally. It's MC, so just make sure you can solve everything on calculator. He never noticed that half the class was done in 15 min, but loved that enough ppl had A's. Nice enough guy, but not my kind of prof.
dont be fooled by the comment about the extra credit, he doesnt do that anymore. Hes still a very good prof, just dont expect to slack off and get a A in his class. You have to work hard and learn the material one way or another.
By far the best calculus 2 professor there was. 5 quizzes, the highest replaces the lowest for 30% of the grade. Online completion hw for 10% and a midterm worth 30% and final worth 30% but your final grade can replace your midterm grade
Prof. Brashear is one of the nicest professors I have had so far. He really cares about his students and provides many opportunities to improve your grade. The one downside was that I did not like his teaching style. Most of his notes were pre-written so they were slightly harder to follow. Very helpful though.
Great math teacher. sometimes hard to follow, but is very helpful. homework is online every week. do homework and practice test. test will be easier. not blow off class, but if you do your part an A should be attainable.
do the homework. seriously. thats 10 points out of your final grade. quizzes once a week, study for those! 3 partial tests, each with a sample test given for review. final exam grade replaces the lowest partial test if the partial is lower. go every day! because there's a sign in sheet. that could mean the difference between A and B on the final
Great speaker, but his tests are hard. I studied non-stop, did all the homework, pull-long nights and only managed a 75 on my final. 81 for whole class. I think he realized that people expect him to curve the tests, so he stopped doing it so students would work harder. Study hard and you will pass, at least
Super nice professor. Goes a little fast on notes but if you ask him to explain something he won't hesitate to do so. All the quizzes are multiple choice, easy A if you do the homework and understand it. I studied for the quizzes and midterm and currently have a high A. One thing that sucked about this class was all the online hw every week.
Brashear got your back!! Nah but seriously, this man is awesome. His lectures are a little boring, but he's a super caring guy, and he gives pretty big curves for quizes and tests!! Take Brashear!!!
He is pretty helpful in class, but there is a lot of homework on my math lab. His reviews before the exams are extremely straight forward. However, I made an 89.08 and he didn't bumped me to an A.
The class is very fast pace. He does go over problems in class, but he already has them worked so its hard for him to actually explain it. There is a ton of homework online. But he does curve for all quizzes and test. The lectures themselves are very boring I didnt get anything out of them. Go to his office hours!
Has 4 hours of class a week and lectures all of it. He uses mymathlab homework for a grade and has select problems from the book posted online as a supplement worked out online for you. Always present during class and his office hour. He will not hand it to you though. Reading the chapters and do the sample exams. The test/quiz is directly those.
Very fast paced class, lecture notes are pre written which is probably not the best way to teach math, class will confuse you, unless you are good at learning from prewritten notes I would say go for another professor. btw 5 quizzes, hw, and one midterm and a final
Great teacher, and an even better person. He's willing to do anything he can to help you, so long as you ask for it. Like everyone says, his notes are pre-worked, so copying everything while listening is challenging. The course in itself is difficult, but it is cal 2, so that's how it's supposed to be. I'd definitely take him again.
One of the best math teachers I've ever had and probably the kindest. The course is not easy but you should do fine if you attend his lectures, do the homework and do all the practice problems. I'm glad I took him!
He is a great professor and very easy. Quizzes and exams are based off the homework. He teaches the material in a very clear and precise manner that makes the math less intimidating. I highly recommend him! He is the best for Calculus III! Wouldn't take anyone else.
This guy is a joke. His midterm was verbatim from his quizzes. You didn't have to study, all you had to do was memorize answers to prior quizzes. Take this class if you don't have confidence in your intelligence and have a poor work ethic. This guy makes Cal3 seem like remedial algebra. Not much studying required for an A.
This was a difficult class. He expects you to know how to solve problems with shortcuts, that you don't think about anymore. His notes are pre-written so they are not the best since he just points at the steps. His class is very fast paced and he has a monotone voice.
Great Class. Lets you use calculator. Test vary in difficultness.
He allows formula sheets that can not have worked out problems, but people still do. It is IMPOSSIBLE to finish the exams let alone check work if you are working each problem from scratch. 12-15 problems in 50min? Multiple choice tests and quizzes so no partial credit. Grade did not reflect what I learned (a lot). Good teacher, poor tests.
The class itself gets kinda confusing but he does so many examples that you'll get it. He uses MyMathLab (not MATLAB) for hw which makes doing how a piece of cake. His quizzes and tests are the same as posted ones besides different numbers.
Lectures are boring, I had to take breaks because it would drain me. Exams are multiple choice, so don't expect partial credit. In order to get better than a C, you'll have to do plenty of studying on our own. But he is willing to help in office hours, and implements curves and attendance extra credit. Not terrible, but not and exceptional course.
Final Exam was tough. At the end of the course, he can be rude and arrogant. Expect a lot of homework as you get closer to the end of the semester, too much in fact making it difficult to study for the final. Test are multiple choice, so you won't get partial credit for your work. I would not recommend this professor.
He posts detailed notes from his lectures online. I hardly ever went to class, but as long as you do the homework and look through his notes, you'll be fine. Exams are easy if you do the work because they're similar to homework. Lectures are pretty dry, but he mainly goes over extra practice. I'd take him again.
Professor Brashear puts all the notes for the course online which is extremely helpful. This can also be a detriment though because it made his lectures fairly boring. The course gets a lot harder near the end but the tests are very doable- 13ish multiple choice- if you have no idea you can guess. You can use a calculator and formula sheet.
This professor is really easy to listen to while he lectures, and he knows what he is talking about. His tests are super easy and they're all multiple choice. You need to show up to class though because he uses attendance to calculate how many bonus points you get on the final.
Nice guy, but I didn't learn much in his class. Uses pre-written notes and moves very quickly. Multiple choice exams, so there's no partial credit. Recommended if you want to take someone easy, but not if you want to really learn the material. Get a calculator that does calculus if you take him, otherwise you won't finish the exams.
Brashear is very cut and clear on what he wants. He does many examples during class and is able to help during office hours or after class. The tests are easy if you do the hw and look at the textbook problems. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. That is the best way to learn.
explains everything well most of the time. He has a hard time hearing you have to be loud and clear when you have a question. gives plenty of extra credit. gives plenty of examples. tests are multiple choice. do all hw.
It's Calc II, this class is going to be extremely hard no matter who you take. If you are already mathematically inclined you may think his class is chill. If you are NOT then take another Professor b/c he is mediocre at best at teaching. Sometimes impossible to keep up with his pre-prepared notes w/o taking pics with your phone. TOO MUCH HW!!
Really nice guy! On top of the mathlab homework, Prof Brashear provides a list of selected textbook problems to work on, so make sure you do some of them before your tests because they're very relevant! Since tests are MCQs, make sure you bring a graphing calculator to check your answers (Ti NSpire CAS makes your life very easy)
Brashear, is a great professor. The only thing I didn't like was all the homework. There is a lot of it so get ready for that. The tests are a little challenging but they are multiple choice.
If professors were nutrients this guy is McDonalds fast food education. Not a quality professor and explains things real fast as he watches the clock trying to cram examples that he rushes through with his pre-prepared notes. Some people enjoy him & professors who rely on MyMathlab to do the teaching for them. Your money and tuition.
Awesome professor. Explains the material clearly but I needed to practice much to master the material since I'm not mathematically inclined. Multiple choice question tests, All HW on mymathlab, Curves some points on every test, good attendance results in ExtraCredit on Final. Ask questions and he will answer you, has good office hours.
Great lectures. Helpful for doing and understanding the homework. The tests are all multiple choice and are 9 questions each but are grades out of 10. Curve is 5-10 points depending on overall class average. If you dont understand something he will do the best of his ability to clarify. Any calculator is allowed for exams (i.e. TI Inspire CX CAS)
Only homework and exams, no quizzes, unlimited attempts at homework. Lectures everyday with prewritten notes. Thought he was a very good professor, and very approachable. You can write anything you want on the board before the exam starts (ie formulas). Online homework ranged from 20 - 50 q each week. EC on final from attendance throughout semester
30-50 problems of homework due weekly on Pearson, tests are multiple choice (which I personally hated because no partial credit), and he would bring PRE-MADE NOTES. Most of the time he would just show us his already done work, he wouldn't actually work out any problems in real time with us. Would also sometimes go on weird political rants?
Prof Brashear always brought pre-written notes and just shows us on the board. However, he doesn't give you enough time to write them down. Therefore, we always had to take pictures of the notes. His homework is very heavy with 40-50 questions/week but had multiple attempts. Setting this aside, he was a nice professor.
Brashear;s lectures are clear and straightforward. Homework was due every week (at least 1 or 2 assignments) so it's easy to fall behind on HW. He gave out exam reviews and the exam reflected both the HW and review. Gives extra credit on exams depending on class average (from 8 to 12 points). Study and to the HW and you'll do good. Great teacher.
Brashear, although a very intelligent man, does not how how to teach. If you end up in one of his classes, be prepared to teach yourself. He never works out any problems, and when he explains material, its just him talking and moving his hands around. Attending class is pointless unless you would like extra credit from attendance.
Don't know why Brashear has a 4 rating here. All notes are pre written & he doesn't go into much detail for problems. He often doesn't understand questions I ask & doesn't explain things very well. All his tests are multiple choice and only 10 questions so if you miss more then 3 questions you fail. Despite his oddly high rating don't take him!!!!!
Great guy, good professor. He's really nice so if you need help he will listen and try his best to make sure you understand the concepts. BUT it's easy to fall behind, posts A LOT of homework and he can come off as boring in class. Just pay as much attention as you can and ask him for help if you need it and you'll pass, he's caring unlike others.
Probably the best choice if you're taking Calculus, especially Cal3. He's good at lecturing but if you don't fully understand you should 100% meet him outside of class. He's great at explaining one on one and doesn't discourage students from asking questions like other Cal professors. He's very kind and will make sure you know the content. Take him
Professor Brashear is your best bet to take for Cal 2. Explains topics very easily to grasp. His grading criteria is reliant heavily on tests, but you really have to not try to fail them because they're multiple choice.
