He does not care if you are worried about failing and won't help, does not teach what is on the exams nor tell you what is on them, and partial credit is almost nonexistent. He also doesn't have much concern for curving tests that the class did poorly on.

Organic is a very hard class by nature, but I think Castellano is your best bet if you really want to learn the material. Absolutely awesome guy. Literally do every StudyEdge review and every problem Study Edge gives you and review his notes from class. Got above a 90 on every exam including the final doing that, and I am not a great test taker. Just stay ahead and things aren't confusing or overwhelming. Castellano is the man and lectures are helpful.

If you take orgo1 from Professor Castellano, you definitely need great effort plus hard practice on this one. Lecture notes are available after class. However, exam content are much harder than clicker questions and examples in notes. Honestly, you do needs to take out practice exams first and struggle through it, OR get prepared to get toasted.

He is great! He has good lectures and is very welcoming for people to come to his office hours. It is a challenging class but he makes it clear that if you read the textbook (which is a great book, it explains everything super well) and do the homework problems, you will do well, even without study edge! Just practice and keep up with the material

He used TopHat to encourage attendance, but he didn't use it often. I used Study Edge so I didn't really use the textbook. He's a nice guy and tries to be funny. I think his exams are fair.

Orgo 1 is always heard to be a hard class, but Dr. Castellano made it extremely manageable. Make sure to do lots of practice and do his practice exams they help so much. If you put the effort in youll get a good grade

He's not terrible but he's not great, he only grades based on 3 exams without homework opportunity and doesn't give you a lot of clues as to what to study. overall not the best professor at all

Professor Castellano made my orgo experience better than I anticipated, being that its such a difficult class. His lectures were very concise and to the point, and his exams were straightforward and similar to the practice exams that he gave. I didnt find his office hours to be the most helpful, but he is approachable and will answer any question

Dr. Castellano is easily the best online professor I have ever had. While his lectures alone are not enough to give a complete understanding of the material (read the book), he is thorough and makes sure that you understand it. He makes a great effort to ensure that you understand not just how, but why, so that you don't have to memorize as much.

Dr. Castellano is an excellent professor for the Orgo for majors 1 and 2 sections. He delves into mechanisms whenever it's reasonable to do so and emphasizes developing an intuition for reactions and using reasoning to help you memorize less. His exams are difficult, but they were graded on in a way that made it feasible to get a B or higher.

Dr. Castellano is my favorite teacher. You can tell that he genuinely wants you to succeed. He is an amazing lecturer who explains things thoroughly and clearly. In CHM2212, Dr. Castellano will teach you a millions different things in an easily digestible and entertaining way, which is something not many orgo professor can claim to do.

He doesn't provide enough practice material to do well on his exams. You have to go to every office hour and try to squeeze it out of him for what he wants to test you on. Suck up to him or early or you won't be on the good side of his curve

Watch the lectures and read the textbooks and you will do well in this class. The exams are extremely similar to his practice exams so as long as you have a good idea about those you should be fine for the tests.

Legit the best professor I have had at UF. His class really is not that hard compared to the other orgo classes and his ability to explain mechanisms and what to expect on tests was clear and easy to follow. He kept it simple and made sure the information on the exams was clearly covered in class.

I had Dr. Castellano for CHM2212 and CHM2213. He's so passionate about Organic Chemistry and is super clear in his lectures. Although the content was hard, I felt that he emphasized what was important and gave good resources for doing well on the exams.
