Well organized. Great class.
I hated this class and thought he was the worst teacher I've had in quite some time. STAY AWAY.
very good class. helpful and tests aren't bad, but the material is kind of boring.
Good class--if you keep up with his homework, you won't have any problems.
nice guy, but not a good teacher. doesn't explain things. had to teach myself how to do the work. tests are ok
Excellent teacher. Knows his stuff and gives lots of chances for bonus points (extra credit). Did not want to take this class, but I now recommend him to everyone I know who has to take it.
Pretty easy, just make sure to do all the homework, and go to class for the extra credit and quizzes. Really enjoyed it.
Good class, he is willing to help you if you go talk to him
Easy if you rule at algebra. Sucks if you don't. Either way, tons of extra credit opportunities. The one downer is the project portion...that is why he didn't get perfect 5's for me.
OH degges. This class is easy. However, the 2nd test always seems to get everyone. Make sure you understand what is going on from the very begining otherwise your screwed.
Boring but an easy A
Degges is awesome. Who else has the game Who wants to be an ExtraCreditNare? He gives plenty of extra credit and his tests are easy. Very nice guy if you get to know him.
He's extremely boring. His notes and the lecture is good but he was just boring. Glad for the extra credit. I thought having lab for the class was inconvenient, I never knew when we had homework which sucked.
Dont even consider taking any other Professor. Degges terrible sense of humor, and lack of expression are comedy in themselves, more than enough reason to take this class. Very easy, just GO TO CLASS.
D, E to the DOUBLE G is the coolest prof at ND State! Pappa Ron will have you rollin on the floor with enthusiasm for statistical analysis! Even if you don't need it, TAKE HIS CLASS! AND SIT IN FRONT!
Degges did a great job in presenting material to his class. He actually taught his class. If you keep up with the homework assignments and attend class there should be no reason to get anything less the a "b". I have yet to figure out how I am going to use what I learned.
His lectures are boring but his lame sense of humor is funny. Keeping up with in class worksheets and out of class homework should insure a good grade. Tests are easy, I got over 100% on the tests with the help of extra credit and bonus questions.
This class was sooooooooo boring. It's like he's teaching it to third graders. He repeats everything over and over and pretty much spells out every little detail for you. This class is really easy if you do the light homework and go to class once in a while.
great guy... lil crazy but his dryness gets hilarious sometimes
Took 330 and 331. Not really an interesting topic for many people, but it's a pretty easy class. If you've taken 330, take 331 with Degges if you have to or if you need an elective. Very easy.
Degges is really boring and the way he taught was very confusing to me and the book did not help AT ALL. Get good partners when you do your group project because he will not help you at all with that either. Do all the practice tests as they are very similar if not the same as the actual tests.
Easy enough class. Get down every day early. Do the practice exams before tests and finish homework. You'll be just fine. Hes a relaxed kind of guy and sometimes funny in a dry sort of way.
Degges is a fantastic professor! He was very clear with what you needed to know for the exams. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it definitely makes your life easier because if you do attend, you don't really need to study. He's helpful and understanding. Go to class, do the homework...you'll get an A.
Great teacher. If you have to take statistics courses, this is the teacher to take them from. Teaches very well and he makes sure you know the material for the exams.
I took the online class. If you're looking at this option, be prepared to teach yourself EVERYTHING. You also have to find a group and complete a group project online, which I find slightly inconvenient. The material is difficult(for teaching yourself) but he gives lots of opportunities to fix mistakes, extend deadlines, & offers extra credit.
Degges is a great teacher for statistics. Lets you know what you need to be sure on for the exams and explains everything thoroughly. He was always wiling to help explain any questions. I would recommend him for any statistics classes you need to take at NDSU.
My second stats class with Degges. Attendance isn't mandatory, but there are clicker quizzes, and he explains everything really well in class. If you go to class, listen, take a few notes and ask him a couple questions, you'll get an A for sure. He is more than willing to help with material you're having a tough time understanding. Great prof!
Good teacher, explains stuff well in class.
I recently completed Degges Stat's class online. It is a tough class to take online because you have to self teach yourself everything. But he was very very helpful. Responds to emails quickly, explains himself in the emails, and generally wanted you to do well in the course. He was awesome and friendly. Had good notes and video's posted online!
Teaches material off a powerpoint. Makes the material seem confusing and rarely uses the book.
His teaching style is confusing. His lecture is basically examples. I learned everything from the lab and homework which are super easy. His class is boring but he has in class quizzes.
I took stats with him because of his good reviews, but I have no clue how he got good ratings. He makes the simplest topics confusing, his practice problem answers are incomplete/incorrect/missing answers, his questions are worded very poorly, and his notes are sloppy and disorganized. Only plus is that he extends a lot of deadlines for homework
Joseph Roith was the TA for my class and it was impossibly easy class. If you do the suggested homework and the study guides, you will definitely get an A on all the quizzes and all the tests. There is a project which is simple and easy to get extra credit on. Easy clicker quizzes almost every day.
Degges goes through material fairly slow so students understand. He has easy clicker quizzes about every day so make sure you go to class. His exams are multiple choice and are basically different versions of the study guides he provides, making them predictable and simple. He gives a good amount of extra credit at semester end to boost your grade.
He is AWESOME!
The dude is pretty dull and boring. He is smart, but isn't a very good teacher. The TA in my stats lab was a better communicator and teacher than Degges. Degges knows the material but just has a hard time getting his students to pay attention. He's okay.
Degges' Introductory to Statistics class was very easy. I never felt like I truly understood the material until I started studying for the tests. Use the practice tests that he makes available to you, they are almost identical to the types of questions that he puts on the actual tests. If you take the time to study you will get an A.
It was a bit of a difficult of a class
YES! Degges is so weird and creepy but he loves to give Extra credit on clicker quizes for no reason so go to class, HW can be hard to work through but never had a problem on tests. Labs are iffy depending on who you get but you cant pick that. I would highly suggest him.
He is a very nice guy who is very understanding. If you do bad on a homework assignment and talk to him about it he will give you another chance with help. He gives tons of extra credit almost daily that will basically keep your grade around 100%. His tests are multiple choice but are challenging. He is a very fair grader.
Deggs is the Awesome I took STAT 330 and 331 with him. Highly recommended! if you need help just ask or email and if you need more attempts on homework just ask him. He offers a lot of extra credit but make sure to go to class for the quizzes. I went into both finals with over 100% in the class. Just show up and pay attention. its only an hour!
Deggs is one of my favorite Stats Professors. He is very clear and easy to follow along too for lectures and notes. Tests/Quizzes are easy, for me they usually have formula sheets and open books. Great teacher and person. Buy the textbook it has all the formulas you will need
Degges is a funny guy. Not too hard of a class as long as you show up and do the homework.
Multiple choice tests but they are kind of difficult. Gives extra credit all the time on homework and clicker quizzes. Lab is super easy and as long as you show up to it you will get full credit and you only have to go 10 times throughout the semester. Pretty easy A if you do your work and go to class.
GO TO CLASS! Theres quizzes almost every class. Go to the labs, those really help.
He gives tons of extra credit, and as long as you pay attention during lectures you'll get an A. He's a great teacher. There are clicker quizzes almost every day, so skipping is not a good idea.
He's a pretty basic teacher. The class isn't difficult if you pay attention, and there is a lot of extra credit.
Quizzes every class. You skip class, you die. Big lecture so he doesnt care u come or not. Group Project, pretty easy but be careful on details. Tons of extra credit. I didnt pay much attention during class, still doing very well. Make sure go to exam review session because it's very helpful.
Easiest class I have ever taken. As long as you go to class to take the quizzes and study your notes before the tests, you'll be fine. The tests are so easy, it's a joke. Take Degges!
Degges makes learning stats easy. He's really laid back and wants to help you get a good grade. He's not the best at lecturing, but if you go to the review sessions before exams you will easily do fine on the exams. He gives clicker quizzes almost everyday so don't skip. Sometimes he makes the clicker quizzes extra credit which helps your grade.
If you have Chegg you will pass stats 330 online easy peasy!
Easy to understand and relate too.
His tests are literally only based on the formulas, If you can plug in numbers it will be the easiest class you will ever take. I slept through most classes and still passed with an easy A. Theres a review session that is harder then the actual class. Take him before taking any other stats teacher!!
Easiest stats teacher! Have to go to class for clickers or have someone send you them! Otherwise tests are super easy you get formula sheets which is all you need to get an A. The project is pretty easy, he puts the example on blackboard, which you can copy. Gives extracredit in clicker and homework questions.
Such a coool dude
If you are taking Statis at NDSU take it from Degges! When I took it we were way behind all the other professors so tests were easy.
Not a good professor. He just lectures all hour and doesnt specifically show examples of how to do any of the problems. He talks about it and expects you to fully understand how to do it. You learn more in the lab portion from the TA than you do from the actual professor. He isnt a very understanding professor either.
Pretty good, although I wish he communicates due dates better! I am often very confused on when things are due because he does not say either in class or on blackboard. Very friendly and talkative. About half of the classes will have a small Turningpoint quiz to keep you on your toes. This class has a lab, unexpectedly. Not bad at all.
Dr. Degges is a really nice guy. He likes to talk with his students before class to get to know you so he is really approachable. He is flexible if you give prior notice. Tests are not hard but not necessarily easy. He also does a lot of quizzes in class so you need to attend class. He isn't like a cool guy but he is a "cool" guy.
Don't expect him to return your emails and on the rare occasion that he does, he will be rude. He never gives examples In class and expects you to know everything, there was only one extra credit at the end of the semester. He brought politics into a lot of lectures which was extremely unprofessional. I learned more from the TA in the lab portion.
The quizzes in class are very informal and done over turning point. The quiz questions tend to be easier than the actual test questions but are still in the same range. Lectures are fast paced if you like to take notes.
I have taken 330 and 331 with degges. He is a fine professor but it can be difficult to pass this class when you have no experience with stats beforehand. However; degges provides lots of files you can use and see how he gets his numbers so that helps a lot. He is a bit of a scatterbrain but hes cute. His exams can be hard but that depends on u
I had Degges for both 330 and 331, very difficult with this being my first time taking Stats ever. Once you get the hang of it, you'll be okay. Make sure to do well on homework, one assignment for 10 points every week pretty much. Computer labs are usually easy, I watch the videos rather than going in person, saves a lot of time. Pick a good group.
Prof Degges is awesome! Took him for STAT330 and was very worried going into it. It is math heavy, obviously, but he really works problems out with you in class, and gives examples. He also does participation point quizzes each class for bonus points, and always emails back quickly. Would definitely take again!
I don't understand how professors like this get tenure. He doesn't teach, he stands up there and goes through a slideshow that has all the problems worked out already, without really showing any of the work.
Dr. Degges is an interesting professor. In class, he just reads off of a slide which makes it hard to understand the information when you are first learning about statistics. He is very unprofessional and downright rude on email depending on the circumstance. Learned way more from the TA than him.
Go to class and get the participation credit, and learn just enough to understand it and you will pass. His lectures drone on but the lecture points are worth it. If you go into any of the TA's, they will teach you a lot more than you will learn in class.
Dr. Degges only teaches the basics, but he only tests on the basics. Because of this, the tests are super easy. There is a semester-long group project that has multiple phases, but it's not hard. He has TurningPoint quizzes most days that are easy points. Some of these questions make it onto the test. He also gives out quite a few bonus points.
Summer Online class. Blackboard hard to navigate. Group project, but I did it myself in 2 days when my whole group dropped the class. Watch the lectures. Textbook needed bc hw can come from there. Multiple tries on hw. Unlimited time on tests. Some extra credit. Fast and helpful response to emails. Start of class is confusing, but it gets better.
Pretty easy class. He teaches fairly well and lots of opportunities for extra credit.
absolute trash he does nothing but read off the slides that have already been solved. he never does any of the work in front of the class
The class itself is a bit difficult content wise at times but a lot of extra credit is given, being more than enough to get an A even if you do poorly on an exam (though exams are 60% of the grade so heads up). TA was nice, labs were easy, and as long as you took good notes and did your HW/practice exams you should do well.
I've said this before, Dr. Degges only teaches the basics, but he only tests on the basics. Everything else I mentioned before still holds true, except that the group project only has one phase. About half of this class is reading output from a program, so it is not very math-heavy. If you are confused, ask him after class for clarification!
Was a fine class if you went to every class. There were clicker quizzes in class. The group project was tricky, but not impossible. You have a cheat sheet for the tests with all the formulas.
Take online
He was a good professor lecture is slides from powerpoint. clicker quiz almost every class and he was great at responding and trying to help if you needed help outside of office hours. group project is the entire class it sucks but just try your best its pretty east most of the time. tests are scantron and in person.
While many people tell you if you take this class online because its easier- It's not! There are no lectures to watch, the blackboard is very unorganized, and he is a really tough grader. The tests are really hard, and there is a huge group project with checkpoints throughout the semester. I wish I would have taken this class in-person.
He does not teach, just reads the powerpoint, and half of the time he doesn't have the right option available on the in-class quizzes or the test. Just very unorganized.
DO NOT worry about the lab, it is easy. He is a good professor who does a sufficient job teaching basic stats. If you show up to class and buy in it is easy. Weekly homework that was sometimes challenging but multiple attempts + quizzes in class = good grade. He knows a lot about stats and can sometimes go on a tangent that gets confusing. Good Guy
Grades are made up of 11 homework, 20 quizzes, 10 webassigns, 3 exams, and a group project. If you're struggling with anything in the class, there is likely something online that has the answers or is a guide. As long as you commit and use your resources online, most of this class is easy/manageable. (low rating bc i never spoke to the teacher lol)
Pretty laid back clickers in class. 1 group project fairly easy if you have a decent group. Homework weekly on blackboard. The book was only used once for 5 end of the semester quizzes. Lectures kinda of bland but the class was pretty easy.
He understands that this class is for a variety of majors, so the content is do-able if you keep on track with assignments. It was challenging navigating a group project online with people I never met. Some of his recorded lectures are 12 years old so the software looks different. He's not very personable or understanding in emails in my opinion.
Not much to say. Overall he is very fair, will give extra time if needed, responds to emails with good advice, and so on.
Good guy, attendance wasn't mandatory- but usually a small quiz each lecture you could miss out on
GARBAGE Blackboard organization, it is a complete mess. Puts the link to the textbook at the top of the page, and then doesn't even allow you access to it. NO feedback, lectures are just him jabbering on a video about nothing. Attempting to find the assignment that is due is an assignment in itself. Avoid this class at all costs. Garbage.
He's fine, just put some effort in. Lectures are insanely boring but that's not his fault. It's statistics.
I would rather watch paint dry then go to another lecture. Dr. Degges is very old fashioned and boring. If you are a visual learner, be prepared to teach yourself everything. Besides that, class is quite easy. You can get a lot of extra credit points from homework and in class-quizzes. Nice guy, not my style of teacher.
the lectures never actually taught you how to actually complete any problems and were a total snoozefest.
Professor Degges was great. His lectures could get boring at times but was usually a quick 50 minutes. Go to class, do the extra credit and assignments, and study a bit for the exams and you will do great. Very easy course.
I hated that it was a giant class, the teacher was hard to understand, and the content seemed to have been written about 30 years ago. It was overall a horrible experience and I would not wish it on my worst enemy even if they killed my puppy. I took this class prior and had an A there is no reason that I should have a D in it now.
Dr. Degges is awesome, but is definetly getting old. If you have a question, email him otherwise you'll get an entire story and possibly not even get an answer to your question. First test and third test are very similar to the topics discussed, but the second test is very different. Group project can be tedious, but is easy. No final.
