best teacher around. will do anything to help. funny as all get out too
Easy easy easy class! Take it online! I hardly had to do anything and got an A.
Extremely easy class, if you take it online (which is the best option). It doesn't take long to complete either.
easy on line. you can finish early in the year so that you arent stressed to finish the quizes during finals week
Two comments: First, take the online section! It's super easy and you can do tests and quizzes whenever you want. Second, the tests are harder than you might think, so make sure you review well for them.
best way to get an a is to do this class online. you can get most of the class done in roughly 2 hours. keep up with the log writing and you'll be in great shape(all kinds).
He is seriously the coolest professor, way funny! The best tennis instructor out there. His more serious classes are a little too easy and I'm not sure I learned all that much, but he's a great guy, i will definately take future classes from him.
I LOVE Dr. Hager! He is a wondeful man and a good teacher. He has helpped and inspired me in my accademic and career choices. He is funny too! This class and the labs are fun. I reccomend any class from Dr. Hager, especially this one.
Motor learning: Great, easy class. We took a quiz every day, but once you took 1 or 2 you knew what to expect and it was pretty easy to get 100% (the 2 lowest quiz grades were dropped). Tests were straight off the study guide. There was no textbook. It's kind of boring sometimes, but he's really interested in the subject and we do cool labs.
Intro to Allied Health Professions was an easy class. A new speaker/profession would show up and you had to write down notes. Bam....Once a week. Easy. The Final is a self-evaluation, no biggie. Cool to learn about other professions but honestly it was too boring for me. I should have brought a pillow to class.
In all fairness, it was this class I hated, not him per say. It is taught by a different professor each week and frankly, it sucks. It's too hard to get help, you never know how to prepare for tests, assignments are fruitless and I totally hated it. If you have another way to fulfill the University CORE requirement, please do it.
Ron Hager is the freaking man. The guy loves tennis and knows what he's talking about. One of the most interesting guys I ever talked to. Seriously Ron is tight. He loves his students and really just wants to chill with them. Keep representing Ron!
This class is the bomb! Coach Hager actually knows what he's talking about. I learned more in the two months in class than the 6 years i played tennis in middle and high school. Plus, the exam is really easy and he'll tell you the answers word for word. Highly recommend to anyone needed an easy GE credit!
I really like Dr. Hager. This class was really easy, but also really informative. The tests were a tiny bit harder than I thought they would be, but I got b's on all of them. I learned a ton and didn't hardly have to do any work! What more could you ask for? Hager is a really cool guy and the class is really low stress.
LOVED Dr. Hager! This class is life-changing and he is so enthusiastic about exercise and wellness. He is funny, helpful, straightforward, has had lots of experience in what he is teaching and he is so positive. He even brought in the author of the book, "The Culprit and the Cure", we used. Take this class! You will become more healthy for sure.
Awesome, super laidback professor. Very interesting material. Didnt have to study too much for tests. I really enjoyed my time in this class and learned a lot. Easy A.
18 attendance quizzes (only 10 count toward your grade). 3 tests are doable: incomprehensible in some sections, absurdly easy in others. Only one project besides that. Sometimes Hager puts color charts on the test in black and white, making them impossible to read. You will see material he didn't cover on almost every test. Read the articles!
20 attendance quizzes (only 12 count towards grade). Two midterms, 90 questions each, all multiple choice and T/F. This class is pretty easy. Hager's lectures can kinda be all over the place and without focus, but he puts the slides online. His lectures can be fun, though. Funny guy. He gets pretty excited about health.
Professor Hager is passionate about this topic and an interesting teacher. Class had attendance quizzes (but only the top 12 were kept), a project, and 3 tests. The class was a little disorganized at times, and tests were guaranteed to have a couple questions that were never covered. Do the readings and pay attention in class and you will do great.
I took this at the same time a friend took another teacher's 387 course. We both slacked, I got an A- and my friend got a B-. This is the easiest 387 class available.
Easiest class ever! only reason you need to show up to class is for the quizzes and he knows it and is ok with that.
Dr. Hager is very simple. It is an easy A. He gives quizzes every class at the beginning but you can leave after and he doesn't care. Beware, he makes you do a near-vegetarian diet for 4 weeks. Don't bother buying the textbook. I never touched it.
Good professor. Class isn't very tough at all, you just need to show up since there are quizzes at least 2 times a week at the beginning of class. Always goes over the time limit on lectures. Nice guy and cares about what he is teaching.
TAKE THIS CLASS FROM HAGER. He is such a great guy and is really funny too. He only gives a couple assignments for the whole semester that aren't too hard. I would love to take another class from him. He understands students and makes things fun and interesting. I also want to be a healthier person.
Honestly love this guy. He's so cool, he's real, he wants you to do well. Quizzes frequently in class, if you want an easier way to get an A make sure you pay attention in class to do well on quizzes because they're worth 15% of your grade. If you study for exams you should do well. He gives great extra credit opportunities.
I did not like the class. You have to prepare for a quiz every time and they are not easy. The lectures are boring and the slides don't make much sense.
Go to every class early and memorize details from the previous class like percentages and numbers and you will be fine on his quizzes. He gives lots of extra credit to buffer your grade. TA reviews will save your bacon. DO NOT take this class lightly, he will teach you SOOO much about life and perspective. Dr. Hager is an amazing professor.
Dr. Hager is a nice guy and very passionate about this subject, but I didn't like his class. You have to be present in every class to take quiz based on extremely obscure details and figures from studies you're supposed to have read. His tests are easy, but an A is a 95, so if you mess up at all, you're toast. Lecture is very dry.
Dr. Hager himself will tell you that this class teaches you basically two things you already know: eat right and exercise. The rest of it is basically knowing the relevant stats from the slides. Dr. Hager hits you over the head with those two principles so much that it is a class that can actually sink in and inspire you to change the way you live.
Pro. Hager's a nice guy and all, but his lectures were incredibly boring. I tried to take notes in class, but he goes off topic forever and then we're quizzed on the previous class material everyday that we weren't able to go over. Just read the class slides before class for those quizzes.
Professor Hager is a great guy and really loves teaching this class, which makes it enjoyable. He had a quiz almost every class on material from the previous lecture, but they weren't difficult and often is very forgiving with bonus questions and drops 4-5 of them. Good class, good teacher, not very difficult if you pay attention.
Take Hager. Nothing else needs to be said. Such and easy and chill class. Easy A.
Hager is easily the best teacher I've had at BYU. Super passionate about health. I have learned so much from him and his tests are very fair. If you go to class and study, even just a little, you'll do great.
If you are looking for an easy A and also the biggest waste of time, Hager is your guy. He cancelled class more often than not and when we did have it we would watch Ted talks. I was disappointed because I was excited to learn about the content, but felt I did not get my college tuition's worth out of the class.
I have really enjoyed this class. There are a lot of in class quizzes at the beginning of class, but just review the slides from the time before and you'll be good. So, it is important to go to class because of those quizzes. One project which is easy, a decent amount of reading, but not hard. TA reviews for the tests are great and are in class.
This is a fairly easy and pretty interesting class! You take tons of quizzes but he only graded the top 16 so in the end I would say most if not all have over 100% on the quiz section. I didn't do much work out of class and it was a lot of life-applicable information. The TAs will save your grade if you listen.
Dr. Hager is a funny guy and passionate about his material. Leads to extremely long lectures (big room zero engagement) Readings and quizzes were easy. There are three non comprehensive exams for the whole course, each worth 27% of the grade. Classic crunch of a bunch of powerpoint's and article abstracts to prepare for tests. Fun diet assignment
I really enjoyed this class. The workload wasn't too much, and with it being an online class I was able to work on it whenever I wanted to. The weekly assignments were easy, and study guides for the two tests were given. Everything I learned in class I can use beyond the course.
Daily quizzes of previous class's material but around 9 are dropped from final grade. I didn't buy the book for it, slides about the relevant chapters are posted and discussed. Almost no discussion, all lecture, somewhat opinionated, seemingly repetitive info. Tests were alright but had some confusing questions, class reviews weren't very helpful.
I took this course online, which I usually do not like online courses but I liked this one a lot! There is quite a bit of work involved but it is easy and interesting! The tests were easy if you just studied the study guide and the self check quizzes.
Most of the class was interacting with the TA's because of the volume of the class, and I only interacted with the professor when I emailed him a question. This class is wonderful! It taught me so many positive and healthy mindsets to have towards life, and has given me so much perspective. Even if you don't need the credit, take this class!
Professor Hager does not give feedback on assignments and he does not interact with students at all. Assignments are repetitious, which makes them simple, however, little is actually learned. The exams are given without preparing you and study guides are vague at best.
Dr. Hager is the bomb! He is hilarious. He was SO HAPPY to have me come in and chat during his office hour. His lectures were fascinating and even spiritually uplifting. All you had to do to get an A is study the powerpoints for an hour or two before the test. Whether you already eat healthy or not, you will enjoy his lectures if you listen.
I loved this class! Although he doesn't give clear study guides you can get an A by studying PowerPoints and knowing basics about the material. Little interaction between student and professor, but he is extremely smart and hilarious which makes for a great professor during lecture!
Ron Hager designed the class, doesn't actually grade. He does upload lectures though... I don't even watch them because he talks so slow. Every week you upload a 1 page single spaced paper answering six questions or so. They're not difficult, but kind of long. The tests are decent and there is a final paper as well. Good class to improve wellness!
He's a great guy with a soft heart, but we were many days behind schedule because he likes to tell stories....a lot of stories. You do have an almost daily quiz at the beginning of class on the previous lecture, but other than that there's not a ton of outside work. It's a fairly easy A if you show up consistently.
Great man, awful class. I took it through independent study so that might be a huge reason why, but it was literally just reading the textbook he wrote (that was very redundant) and writing essays at the end of the chapters. It wouldn't be as bad if it didn't take like a week to read each chapter. They were ridiculously long and painful to read.
This is a class that you can definitely take online. Not much to do each week, it probably took me 2 hours at the most to get stuff done. The only reason I didn't like Hager was because he teaches according to his own opinion. It's difficult to do well on tests unless you know exactly what he believes about the topic.
I enjoyed this class. I'm hoping to go d1 in collage and study sports science and this was my first collage online course. He was pretty good
If you want to get an easy A, take this class. If you want to do a bunch of B.S. assignments on a weekly basis, this is the class for you. Heres how the class works: Each week you have to complete one reflection assignment (one page single spaced essay) and make three comments on the discussion board. Lots of busy work. I wouldnt take it.
I liked this class and definitely learned a ton. There was a decent amount of busy work and I didn't always like reading the outdated health studies. But overall I liked the class. It's not hard, just go to review sessions for tests and you'll do great.
Prof Hagers course is one of my favorite that I have taken thus far. The information is so applicable to our daily lives and although theres a bit of textbook reading, it really doesnt take too long. The quizzes are basically half of the questions on the midterm and final. Definitely would take another class from him.
Not only is this a great class where you learn a lot of applicable info, its a pretty easy class. Because I took the online class, I mainly interacted with the TAs but if you email them a question, they will respond. If you memorize the study guides, you will do well on the test. Go to TA test reviews!!!!! (they sometimes tell you answers)
Easiest class ever. Took me a 1-2 hrs to finish whole week of class. I enjoyed the discussions with other students. Just do the textbook reading and skip the podcast videos. Easy class if you're looking for one
I truly truly loved this class. I would 100% take it again and I loved the pace of it as well. It kept me busy each week but the "busy" was stuff I was really interested in so I enjoyed it and actually looked forward to reading a chapter and doing an assignment each week. He is very passionate about wellness. He's a little monotone sometimes.
TAKE THIS CLASS! Not as rigorous as other exercise science classes, but still really interesting stuff! Not a ton of personal interaction but the class is very user friendly. Study guides were great representative of the classes and the weekly self checks often were helpful for studying! I would take this class again!
Pros: This is probably the easiest class ever. Cons: Class material is superficial. Don't expect an in-depth study of important topics; it's mostly brief, general definitions or pure opinions. The E-textbook: costs over $80 and is SUPER outdated. No, you can't borrow someone else's textbook, no you can't take the class without it. Pay to win
The tests are very specific, but the in person TA reviews really helped!! If you have taken microbiology, physiology, or organic chemistry, then you should be fine!
I didn't expect to like this class but it ended up being one of my favorites! It's online so there's not lots of communication with the professor but when I did talk to him he was so nice and helpful! He's really smart, and I learned a TON! There's not really a lot of homework. This was a perfect class to take for this GE and I really loved it.
Ron Hager's EXSC 221 Intro class is a breeze. But it is some of the most useful information I have learned my whole time at college. I highly recommend this class.
This is a very easy A if you do the work (and the work is the same every week so once you get into a routine it feels like nothing). It was a nice way to reflect on your health. I will admit I feel like I didn't learn a ton of new concepts, but I definitely learned how to improve my health.
I could not stand this class. So much outdated information about health and no room to explore other ideas and opinions. Sure, it was easy and I spent about an hour on it every week, but I would not take this class if you are wanting to really learn about health and preventing disease.
Super easy class. It seems like a lot of work, but the assignments are the same every week. There's a midterm and a final that make up 50% of your grade. They're both really easy, and the TA's make a really great review for it.
I took this class online, and it was super easy. The class is super structured, so you always know what to expect. Because it is so structured, there is no variety in assignments or activities, so it can get a bit boring and tedious. Also, I don't think the professor communicated with the students once, so it felt like the TAs did most of the work.
If you take this class don't expect to be taught anything. All he does is make you read a bunch of articles that say the same facts over and over again. then, he will ask obscure test and quiz questions that force you to read all of the stupid readings. Honestly, he is not a teacher. All he does is give you stuff to read. I could've googled it all.
I preferred other classes Professor Hager has taught. This one was fine. It was fairly easy, but the tests are a bit random and obscure. Normally that's not a problem, but tests make up like 80% of your grade.
This class is super easy. If you do the assignments on time and read the textbook, you will get an A
Professor Hager's science of wellness class is one of the easiest classes I have taken. It's very clear and structured and you know exactly what you need to get done. It's easy to get into a routine and complete assignments quickly. You learn a lot about how to better your health. The TA's also create great study guides for the tests.
So insanely easy. If youre looking for 3 credits that require no effort, science of wellness is it. I honestly didnt read the textbook, most of it is common knowledge. You do discussion posts and a reflection paper on each chapter and thats it. Theres a paper but it took me less than an hour to write. The tests took me about 30 min. Sooo easy!
Took EXSC387 (BYU online) and EXSC 221 (Ind. Study) from Hager. Great professor who is passionate about what he's teaching. Content is interesting and applicable to every day life. Would absolutely take another class from him.
Really nice class, with honestly life changing material. Not too much homework to be done either. Tests were definitely harder than they were in 221, so make sure you actually study kinda hard for them. Great to take if you have other heavy classes this semester.
I took an online version of this class and never actually interacted with Prof Hager a single time. The class is an easy A, I spent maybe 2 hours max a week doing the total homework and readings. Some of the homework is pure busy work, but it still isn't hard. This is a great class to take if you need the general or credit.
I've taken a few other classes from Hager and have had great experiences in all of them. This class was full of great info, but the information that was tested on the exams was really random and pointless in my opinion. He didn't test on concepts, but rather specific statistics from each of the lessons. I wouldn't recommend taking the class.
This class was both hard and easy. It was easy in they were really loose on grading and got 100% on most of my work, but it was a ton. I had to write a short paper (among some other things) every week so if you're okay writing that much every week, be my guest. Tests weren't too bad though, just fill out the study guide and review the self checks.
A relatively easy class as long as you read the book/do work. Ended up being my favorite class this semester. The material is pretty engaging and you can tell that Prof Hager is really passionate ab what he teaches. There are only two tests (midterm and noncumulative final) and the reviews prepare you perfectly. Def recommend for an online course!!
I recommend this class for your social sciences credit! The class was easy and applicable. My TA was great! Very responsive and helpful. If you read and do the assignments, it's an easy A. Don't do what I did and forget a week though, because that will bring your grade down a bit. It's hard to forget about the assignments though
This class was pretty easy considering it was online. You have to read the textbook, do a discussion, and write a one page paper single-spaced every week. If no other Social Science classes interest you, take this one, you can pass it easily!
Doctor Hager is a a wonderful professor. He has a great sense of humor and always has a good story to share. He makes the material entertaining. Definitely worth taking this class from him.
Every week you have a discussion response, a one-page response based on questions from the chapter of the textbook, and one quiz that can be taken as many times as you want. There is one midterm and a final. It was a pretty easy class! I had very little interaction with the teacher and TAs, so you're basically on your own.
Professor Hager is passionate and enjoys the lecture material. He sometimes gets off track during lecture but it is mostly cool stuff he is talking about. There are only 3 big grades for the exams and then a small percentage of your grade is a project and quizzes. Overall, Professor Hager is kind, understanding, and just an outstanding guy.
Easy class honestly and a great one to take during spring term. It is mostly busy work, each week you will have a group discussion and a one page, single-spaced, paper to turn in. It is kind of a lot if you take it during spring but it is very easy. The content is interesting as well. Tests are literally so easy, just review study guide!
This was seriously one of the best classes I've taken at BYU. I took this online during summer term so it was fast paced, but everything was due on fridays so it was easy to keep up in the class. The TA's were helpful as well and I learned a lot
Overall a good and average class, I will say I felt the textbook is super repetitive. Also, the e-textbook was like $80 (which is a lot for an e-book) and I felt like the quality was terrible, and it was written by the professor, just a waste of money for a GE class. The Canvas course was convenient though.
Super great class. Everything was simple and very clear each week. You don't have to spend much time per week on the work. I usually just do it in an hour or so on one day. Interesting content too! Super fun and easy but useful class! No matter your major, this class would be amazing for you. Ron is awesome!
this professor was absolutely awful. Had no interaction with his students at all and the online course was outdated and extremely boring. Many of the test questions were not even discussed in the textbook and the answers to them were opinion based which doesn't work if we never get to see or meet with our professor.
This was a great class for social science credit. Spent 1-2 hours a week. Material was interesting and helpful! An online textbook that cost $80 is required though. For the test he gives you possible test questions in "self checks" and there are helpful quizlets. Exams proctored but you can take them anywhere it is quiet and you are alone!
Thought this class would be interesting but, NO. If you take it, do not purchase the 2000+ page text book. waste of money. Tons of busy work! The tests were the most frustrating part for me. All our reviews did was tell us to re read the text book smh. Many test questions were unheard of and opinionated. If you take this class, you're on your own.
EASY online class, spent maybe an hour a week on the work. You gotta buy the expensive, professor written online textbook which sucks, but use control F and you can find all the answers for the weekly homework. Tests are easy, look up a Quizlet and that's basically all the answers. Professor seems like a nice guy, never really interacted with him.
This class is really easy and interesting. It is pretty much reading the textbook and completing a few assignments including a weekly one-page paper. The only downside is the expensive online textbook.
Awesome online course. Info is presented simply. You have to read a lot, but you can skim the studies if you make sure to read the material provided by Hager. Tests are very similar to the weekly quizzes. If you have good background in anatomy, physiology, and nutrition this will be an easy course.
The class is pretty easy for the homework and quizzes. The tests are pretty unfair though, you have to memorize basically every part of every study he gives you (which is 3-5 per week) in order to do good on the tests. Professor Hagar doesn't really interact with the class at all. I would recommend taking a different class.
Super easy class, probably spent an hour-ish every week. Exams weren't too bad, but sometimes the grading on the reflection assignments every week was a bit nit-picky (but that's also my own spaciness). Interesting class tho whether you're an exercise science major or not. Recommend for everyone!
Hager is a very nice guy and really cares about you. Lectures were super boring though, and his tests were way harder than what you would expect in this class. Pop quizzes happen very often to BEWARE and they're not that easy.
This class was very informative and basically just encourages you to live a healthy lifestyle. Tests are not too difficult so do the practice questions! You will see them on the test again. Fill out the study guide that is sent out and you will be fine. Only took me about 2 hours a week to do the weekly reflection and discussion board.
The only complaint I have is the lack of variety in this class. We pretty much only did the same 2 assignments for each unit and sometimes there was something else as well. It was a good class and I learned a lot but I started getting tired of the same thing haha
All I have to say is that the tests are really unfair and heavily weighted into your grade. The quizzes and assignments are barely worth anything so don't spend a lot of time on them-- they won't really matter in the end grade-wise anyways. Terrible pedagogy.
the professor is not involved, all communication go through his TA's, which has been unreliable. It has been hard to figure out what is expected of us, and how he wants us to do the assignments. Not a clear course
My class was online so I didn't meet the professor. The tests were almost insultingly easy. Just be aware of the required textbook. felt like the entire point of this class was to get me to spend almost 100 dollars on a textbook that the professor himself wrote and can't be bought anywhere else, and now can't really be resold. I felt scammed.
Professor Hager is not super fun to listen to, and sometimes explains things like there's only one right way to be healthy, but the class was easy. Assignments are pretty much the same every week which is nice because you know what to expect. Review the quizzes and go to the TA reviews and you'll be fine for the exams.
Tests are hard and ask for a lot of random facts over concepts so study hard for those. Information in the course also seemed a little outdated. Took it as a gpa booster and that was a mistake. Even if you score perfectly on all of the assignments you still have to pull an A on every test to get an A in the course.
Save yourself and don't. Ridiculous tests. A required reading segment suggested keeping clothes that were too small too encourage weight loss. The research we read was outdated. I overheard him hating on queer individuals and "woke" ideologies with other exercise science professors in the hallway... unprofessional.
I think a lot of people rated this class poorly because they were expecting an easy A and didn't do the work. Exams are not bad if you just do the assignments throughout the week. Just actually study... *eye roll*. I also really enjoyed the material! I felt like I could start applying what I was learning in the class right away.
This is the second class I have taken from Hager and both classes I have enjoyed! It helps that I find exercise science interesting but I have enjoyed learning from him and his assignments feel intentional. I never felt like I was doing busy work. I didn't interact with Hager much as this was an online class but when I did he was great.
This class was super easy. One page assignment per week and 2 discussion posts. There was one midterm and one non-cumulative "final" exam. My advice is to obviously do the assignments and then just memorize the TA reviews/study guide. I never read, only skimmed so I could complete assignments.
Professor Hager did so good with this online class. It's set up so it is super easy to learn and understand what's going on. A manageable workload as well. It is 100% possible to get an A in this class, I just didn't apply myself very much lol. It was my first semester, and I was taking 13 in-person credits and kept forgetting about this one.
An awesome professor. Pop quizzes were bad at first but literally all the answers are from the notes, just got to look at everything. His humor is pretty interesting but I found him funny. Also, super caring and a great guy.
The class itself is pretty interesting. However, almost every study is super outdated and you have to read a lot of them. Work isn't bad and it's organized, but the exams were not very fun. It's a lot of memorizing old statistics and random facts. Learned a lot of important things though.
There is a quiz and discussion every week which were manageable and not difficult to get 100%s on. There are 3 exams total and they are pretty hard. They weigh a lot grade-wise so unless you do super well, they tank your grade. The questions have tricky wordings and they test you on obscure things talked about once. Content was good and applicable.
Dr. Hager was so great. He cares for his students and the subject. Tests are easy if you prepare appropriately. Highly recommend this class!
Overall solid course. However, a lot of the textbook doesn't track with current science and good recommendations for health and wellness. An example is recommending 50g of protein per day, which everyone knows is way too low for optimal health and fitness.
Absolutely awesome professor to take any class from. Not sure why he has any negative reviews. Most chill guy ever and the class was cake. Also took 387 from him and it was very similar
Took this class in person and it was awesome. Extra credit on almost every quiz makes a huge difference and a booster to your grade. Not sure why he has anything but 5s on here, easy class and a great guy
Funny and great guy, lots of extra credit is possible. Would 10/10 recommend taking the class, pretty easy stuff
I highly recommend this class! Not only is it really applicable and useful information, the class is so easy and enjoyable. The assignments actually help you learn and aren't just busy work. You read a chapter of the textbook, do a couple activities that take like 10 minutes and write a reflection with super clear prompts. Super easy.
Awesome professor. Has the opportunity for lots of bonus points in the in-person version of the class so I'd do that one but online is probably great too!
Not sure why there's two of these but seriously he's awesome! One of the nicest guys on campus
Awesome class! Great one to take in the spring or summer as it still isn't a ton of work even with everything being double speed
In person was awesome. SO MUCH extra credit that it's impossible not to do well. I'm sure the online course isn't bad too
Textbook was included, cool class, I'd take it over the summer or spring as it's offered year round and not that much work at all. Super easy
not sure why there's two of these but he's for real amazing! Easy class I'd for sure take.
SO EASY. learn a lot too. chill online class
Very clear expectations! Very helpful as well.
I actually loved this course so much!!! The textbook was expensive but I really enjoyed reading it every week. This class has a consistent work load and is quite stress free considering its a 3 credit class. I very much recomend.
I asked ronald to re take a test after an emergency happened during that testing week and he was very unsympathetic to my cause. Tests also count for about 80% of your grade. Additionally, he makes you spend $80 on a useless textbook you'll never end up using. (yes he wrote it) If any other students are considering taking this class- DONT!
Very open schedule especially with tests, you can get ahead and basically take them when you want. super easy class
not sure why this appears twice but this class was awesome and so easy!!
So much extra credit that an A is super possible!
Great TAs saved me! such a cool class too
Exsc 221 was exactly what I wanted out of a GE. It was full of real-life applications that changed my thinking about how I ate and exercised for the better. I was able to get all of the work done for the week in 2-3 hours, and I appreciated the flexibility since it was all online. Exams were worded weirdly but material reused from ungraded quizzes.
This online class with Prof. Hager is a breeze. The workload is manageable, and the tests are easy if you prepare properly. Definitely check out Unstuck study for helpful study tools alongside the course materials.
This class was super simple. It took me like 60-90 minutes a week. He is very monotone, but you learn very cool stuff, and the quizzes are open book, which helps you know what he wants you to know, but get a good grade. TAs were all super helpful too.
The textbook for this class is the only textbook that I have actively enjoyed reading. There is 1 midterm and 1 final. Each week there is a chapter of the textbook to read, an ungraded quiz, a discussion post, and a 1 page summary of what you learned. That's it. The TA reviews are super helpful for the exams.
Easiest class ever. I spent 1 hour a week on this class. You have to buy the $100+ online textbook written by Profesor Hager and the extent of your learning is just reading the textbook. Each week there is an online discussion board and a 1 page reflection assignment which gets pretty repetitive.
Took this as an online class and it was actually super easy but meaningful. I learned a lot and it helped me improve my health and wellness. Easy A but not a useless class. Just textbook readings every week that aren't very long and you write a reflection. 2 hours tops of homework a week
Do like rinse and repeat nonsense? Do you like reading out dated studies? Do you enjoy doing discussion boards??? Then this class is a perfect fit for you.
He is really nice and definitely passionate about his subject! I took this class in person, and I have heard it is better than taking it online since we get extra credit. I studied a bit before every class for the quizzes and got a lot of extra credit and that also made studying for the midterm easy! If you're good at memorizing, this is an easy A
Such a chill class, literally spent like an hour a week on it and got an A
Easiest online class I've taken at BYU
I learned a lot of valuable material through this course but you have to read and memorize a lot. Lots of the studies are outdated but they do help you understand the material. The assignments are fun and i enjoyed them but the examinations are extremely long and specific. The TA is amazing. Overall, I enjoyed the class but get ready to read.
I took this class online and it wasn't too much work, just a lot of textbook reading. For tests, review the study guide, slides provided by the TA, and, most importantly, the reading quizzes. Overall, the class wasn't too hard, but I wasn't super engaged with the subject matter. Also, found it odd that the textbook was written by the professor.
Dr Hager created a very comprehensible and cleanly organized course that was easy to follow and fun to learn about. Overall, he is a remarkable teacher who is willing to work with students, be forgiving, help with grades, and listen to concerns. Would highly HIGHLY recommend.
This is the second class I've taken from Ron Hager and it's easy. Weekly assignments are a discussion post a quiz and sometimes a 1 page paper; rarely took more than 30 minutes. Exams are straight forward and the TAs tell you what you need to know. I never had to read the textbook since the information is on canvas.
This was one of my favorite classes I have taken at BYU. Pro. Hager was very accessible out of class and always willing to help if there was a concern or question. The class material itself was easy to learn, and there was an easy one page writing assignment and discussion due each week.
This class was honestly so great! There isn't too much to do and no busy work which I like. The quizzes are open note and so you can always do well on those if you look at the material. The exams are based on random statistics/small details that just had to be memorized, which is what caused me to get an A- but other than that, the class was great.
My absolute favorite professor at BYU! He not only cares about the body, but treats it like the gift it is. He knows so much about wellness. I love learning about what he has to say on the Compression of Morbidity. Every module made me think really hard about how im living my life. I have changed a lot of my habits because of this course.
I took this as a general ed for Social science, and not only was it super easy and chill, but I found the course to be very informative and we had clear objectives for each chapter we read. Would definitely recommend him for this class, only downside is the textbook had to be purchased through him, but otherwise, can‘t recommend him enough!
This class had awesome Ta's, and it was clear what was due each week. If you keep up with the readings and weekly assignments it is very doable!
