Wow...if you do not pass this class, there is something wrong with you. No discussion boards, 3 music journals, 3 exams, and a team project. You can take the exams as many times as you'd like. Responds very quickly to emails, as well. As for the project, he will give you a zero if you not participate. Overall, very easy A.
This guy gets it! If you need a HUM class, this is it. IF you don't get an A, your an idiot. 3 posts, 3 exams=A.
I don't agree that the course is THAT easy (as suggested by the previous two postings.) You do have to put forth some effort to get an A in the course. Yeah, if you don't get an A in this class, you're an idiot. One tip though: he means it when he posts deadlines. OBSERVE THE DEADLINES!!!!
Pretty Good class. We did three music journals and 3 exams with 20 questions. Just make sure you post everything in all time! I took it as an honors class. I had just an extra assignment to see a concert and write about it. One shouldn't have any problems in the class to receive anything less than an A!
EXCELLENT CLASS! Instructor made it very easy to meet deadlines...easiest class I have taken on line thus far! Do the work and the exams on time, put some thought into your journals and all will be well! I really enjoyed this class!
This class was easy but great! Prof. always there if needed. Exams open book, at home, plenty time, 3 short essays, post in time!! Do work no problems!! A+ for sure. Don't be late!! SERIOUS! Do work! Nice, helpful Professor.
Wonderful teacher & a wonderful class. By far the most clear and concise class I have ever taken! For once a teacher who gets to the point, and lets you know what's going on right up front. He tells you this is what's expected, you do it, and that’s it. A lot if reading but its worth it! To have an instructor like this is a hard find.
This was one of the easiest college courses that I have taken. The professor is very clear in his expectations. I am an average student and I ended the semester with an 97 percent. 3 journal entries and 3 open books finals that he gives you 2 hours to take. about 2 weeks for each journal entry. I wish I could have this professor for all of my class
About as clear cut as could be - expectations very clear in the syllabus - this guy goes to a lot of trouble with his class web site (online course) - just submit stuff ON TIME and make an effort - and yes if you don't make an A in this course you must be dumb as a stump. This guy rocks and is one of the best professors I've had online or in class.
For Real- You get anything but an A and you are a moron. He is crystal clear with what he wants up front. Do it... easy as that.
very easy.....test are straight from the book! Easy A!
Dr. Howard is the best online professor there is. Responds quickly to ?s & his expectations of you are clearly outlined. As said before, if you do not make an A in this class then you are an idiot. Just do the work and turn it in on time, because you don't get a second chance. My only suggestion would be to be able to work ahead of his timeline.
I had NO interest in this subject but this course or a similar arts course is required in my program. I am so glad I took the course! The expectations are crystal clear. Just meet or beat his deadlines. He is very helpful and answers questions almost immediately. I might add, he's kind of cute, too! <g>
Runs the best kind of online class. Read the syllabus and keep up with the weekly reading assignments. It's all there. Just follow his details. Awesome professor and I wish he taught more courses I could take.
I really like this class because he gives you two weeks to complete the assignments. The exams are fomat according to chapter, instead looking through the whole book to find answer. There are three exams openbook and journals(min 200 and max 400 words). Mr Howard has an interesting class. Please take second for humanties.
It is all right there in his syllabus - just read it and follow it. If you don't pull an A out of this class, something is wrong with YOU as a student. The instructions and expectations couldn't be clearer. Then people whine when they miss deadlines and get upset when he won't "let them slide." I appreciate instructors like Dr. Howard.
If you must take a fine arts course ONLINE I highly recommend this Dr. Howard just do the assignments and you will do outstanding a sure "A" if you want it sign up for this course.
EASY A!!! The discussions are a pain in the butt but they are really easy! The tests are super easy! When you are taking the tests he tells you which chapter to look in to find the answer. Take this class!
Easy class! I took the 8 week course, there were 4 tests and 4 journals. The tests were straight from the book, and each question gave you the chapter that the answer could be found. You only have one attempt but there is no timer. The journals were writing a 500 word discussion board post about one of the listening examples (songs) from the book.
Best professor ever. He's very on what he wants and how the posts should be there are a total of 3 test which you need the book and 4 music journals which they have to be 500 words or more. I do recommend this professor to anyone he's awesome!!!!
This professor should have a 5.0! You have 3 multiple choice tests, only 1 attempt but they aren't too hard. Also you have 4 Discussion posts. Only downfall is you can't do all your work & be down because there are set dates for when assignments & tests can be turned in. Keep up with the dates since there is no late work allowed. Easy class though.
Wow!!! What a great professor and easy class if you do as you're asked. 4 music journals (cd is required to do journals) and 4 OPEN BOOK tests. No late work accepted but it shouldn't be needed. Professor is VERY clear on what he expects and when he expects it. I'm not big into music & thought I would hate this class but walked away loving it!
Took his class a while back and really enjoyed it. Good professor.
GREAT TEACHER, EASY CLASS. DISCUSSION BOARDS, JUST LISTEN TO THE CD'S AND EXPLAIN WHAT YOU THOUGHT WHEN YOU HEARD THE MUSIC. EASY A
TAKE HIS CLASS! It is easy yet you will learn some new things. He is very clear in what he wants and when due. Easy to follow to get an A. He asks what you think for the couple of papers you need to write, which is a nice change. Tests are open book & quite easy.
I took Prof. Howard Spring 2011- no DB posts besides journal entries, 4 journal entries that are to be 500 word count(No exceptions!) Follow format and guidelines & you will do fine :)Open book test that are super easy. He responds to emails quickly. Overall, this class is super easy and an easy A. I would def. recommend this class to others!
Easy class. Four discussion boards and 3 test that are open book there would be no reason to make anything less than a A in this class!
Took this course online. Very easy. Total of 3 open book quizes and 4 essays. Essays were 500 words and personal opinion (no wrong answers). Finished the class in 8 weeks and earned an "A". You will end up reading the entire book, but its enjoyable. Prof Howard was quick to respond to questions. Instructions for assignments were clear.
Three words: Observe. All. Deadlines. Couldn't be any clearer. I hated when I found out I had to take music, but came away LOVING what I learned. Dr. Howard teaches the course like I wish all professors would. It's all there in the syllabus. Read the instructions. And .. OBSERVE. ALL. DEADLINES. He means it! Highly recommend class to all.
Very good online class. He was very specific and clear on what his expectations were. Simply follow the instructions and you should do well. Test are open book, he even gives you the chapter where you can find the answer. Discussion boards essays are simply you applying what you've heard and learned from the chapters.
I took this course online for the spring. The instructor was very helpful and straight to the point. The tests are pretty easy and straight from the textbook. As long as you work hard and follow the syllables youâ??ll do fine. I enjoyed the class and recommend this teacher for MUL1010.
Very easy. I took online its straight forward. 4 Journal entries and 3 tests. You need book and CDs. Easy A.
I took this class online, professor is extremely clear. Easiest class I ever took, no reason you should have anything less than an A!
He has 4 journals(Discussion Boards) that are 500 words and 3 tests for his 8 week online course. That's all. Tests are open book. Not timed, can be saved & resumed later, & you can only take them once. The lowest score I got was a 95 out of 100 on the test & 140 out of 150 for the journal He's very fair and stays in contact though out class.
This was an awesome class with an awesome teacher. I ended up with a 100 in the class and it is easy to do if you do your work. The journal entries are very easy and the exams are super easy as well. The class is very interesting and if you're not lazy you will do well. Open book exams with no time limits make this class impossible to fail.
Wow! I almost felt bad for taking this class it was so easy. Open the book, take the tests, and do your discussions and there is no way you fail. Easiest class I have taken.
MUL1010 Easiest class ever. I did all my journals the 1st week required to be 500 words each. Get ebook and search the terms for the 3 exams. Easy easy easy.
this class was an easy A class. As long as you do the work that is given to you at the very beginning of the course it is almost impossible not to make an A in this class
I love this professor, he loves the subject and it shows. The expectations were clear and deadlines were firm. He was always available and his grading was fair. I would take another class with him for sure! 4 Journals and 4 exams.
Prof. Howard was by far the most understanding professor I've ever had. He allows ample time for Journals and Tests (three of each) and if you write more than the minimum for the journals, he will give you extra credit. If that isn't enough, he will let you do an extra credit assignment, too. I highly recommend prof. Howard! VERY EASY!
AWESOME CLASS AND PROFESSOR. took 7 week summer course. 3- 500 word jounals (not requrired to comment on others)3 test- that is all. offored 1 30 pt bonus journal. must log on every 2 days. doesnt allow late work. do you work and you will pass. grades assignments within 1 day and responds to emails even faster! BOOK and CDS ARE A MUST! HE ROCKS!!!!
Have you signed up for this class already or not!! AWESOME class super easy A. Just do all your work on time. Open book quiz. Music Journals are opinion based. Book and CD is a Must.
Easy A especially if you need a humanities credit. 3 easy tests and 4 music listening journals. Journals are kind of time consuming but all opinion. Overall an enjoyable class!
4 music journals, 3 quizzes(hard), but you get 150 points just for doing intro! He is an amazing professor, but about deadlines. Do your work, and you will pass with a great score. I got an A+!! Take him, you won't regret it! Plus, it counts as a humanities!
Very easy class, just do the work, and very informative class especially if you want to learn about past music. 4 journals(reflection on the music,500wrds)and 3 tests(open book,non-timed). Texbook/CD required. Recommended if you need an easy credit for humanties.
He will NOT accept ANY late work! But you usually have 2 weeks to complete assignments. 4 Journals/500words/150pts each, 3 exams/100pts each and the initial intro is worth 100 pts. Do the work and it's an easy A.
PLEASE TAKE THIS COURSE IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN EASY A+. There are four Music listening journals all are(opinion based).Just listen to the music and write a journal of your thoughts or opinion about the music. The CD is mandatory . REMEMBER ASSIGNMENTS MUST BE TURNED IN ON TIME. HE WILL TELL YOU "THERE IS NOT SUCH THING AS LATE WORK IN THIS CLASS"
Professor Howard was great. I took the 6 week summer class and the work was very easy. There were 3 music listening journals based on how you felt about the music. There were 3 exams on the reading material. The main thing is to apply yourself with the music journal and you will do fine. Extremely easy workload. I higly recommend this professor.
Very easy class as long as you get your work in on time. Test are all open book and not timed. No reason you should get anything lower than an "A"
TAKE HIS CLASS...Excellent Prof. Easy and fun online 6 weeks summer class. Rented the textbook on kindle fire for less than $30, but you still need music cd from book store. Previous rating are 100% accurate.
I loved this class!! It was super easy! We only had 3 discussion boards and 3 exams. All exams were open book with no time limit. Discussion boards were just journals about the music you listened to that week. I recommend this class!
Easy, fun class. The professor is prompt with his responses and gives plenty of reminders and tips for passing the class. Only assignments were 4 Journals, 3 Exams (not timedopen book), 1 extra credit opportunity, and during the course we had to do 2-20 min timed paragraphs (some new pre-req of the humanities department).
Took MUL1010 completely online. Do your discussion every week and use the book for the tests. Go to a concert and write a well written paper and you will make an A. Do not plagiarize your discussions, he will take off for them severely (did not happen to me personally but he did send frequent warnings about plagiarizing). Recommend to anyone.
This course starts off very technical but is necessary to proceed. Engage in the discussion boards. One project is worth 13 of your grade. Invest in the course and submit quality work, and you will be rewarded. At the last minute, he offered extra credit too.
Probably the best professor at FSCJ. I wish he taught more than music courses! Very clear and thorough with expectations, quick responses, and really makes the class enjoyable. There is a lot of content but a little effort and thinking outside the box for discussion boards will earn you an A easily. Definitely take his classes!
I was very skeptical about taking this 8 class but ended up liking it. There was a weekly discussion board with 2 responses to peers, 3 tests, and a concert report that is worth 300 points. DO NOT let the report scare you as he provides a list of acceptable performances to attend and provides a rubric to follow.
Really easy class. Discussion, exams, and concert report. You don't have to be a musical prodigy to take this class. I recommend anyone take it.
The only weekly assignments were one chapter of reading and a discussion posting OR a MC exam (4 total). The class took about 2-4 hours/week. At the end there is a project to attend a concert and write a report--he gives detailed instructions on what to include so it is not too hard. Dr H was very helpful when emailed and always gave good feedback.
Dr. H was an amazing professor! I took his class during a Summer C session. You have weekly discussions, Module exams, a concert report. He does give extra credit opportunities so take advantage of it. He grades discussions within 24-48 hours along with emails. Exam grade pops up immediately after you finish your exam and enters the gradebook.
Professor Howard is a great professor. I took this class online and it consisted of weekly discussions, 4 tests, and a concert report that was not hard! There is also extra credit. He gives very good feedback, weekly. Take this class!
I took this class online. I believe we had 7 discussion posts(300 word min.) and 4 exams throughout the class. He also offered 2 extra credit assignments toward the end. The concert report is worth the most points but only requires you to attend an approved concert and write about your personal experience. Professor H was great!
This professor is absolutely amazing. Professor Howard gives you opportunitys to receive extra credit and he is really superb about giving his students feedback quickly. One thing that I like about him is his care for music and students. Even though I took this as an online course, I felt like I was right in the classroom. PLEASE TAKE HIM. Easy A
Professor Howard is great! The syllabus explains everything exactly to a T. He gives rubrics for the assignments so that you know exactly what you will make before hand-- if you follow it. If you participate, you pretty much will get a good grade. I really enjoyed his class.
Clear syllabus, fair grader, do your work and you should make a good grade. Would take again for another class!!
This class was not what I expected it to be at first. It was a little difficult but not because if the teacher. Dr. Howard responds to emails fairly quickly. As long as you are honest with him and stay in contact with him he is willing to work with you! Overall GREAT teacher. Discussions are every week.
I absolutely loved this class! Taken online, given 2 extra credit opportunities. Don't mess around with the final concert report though. I easily passed this class with a final grade of 1002/1000. Can't recommend him enough!
(online class) Read and participate in Blackboard module, your post and two responses to others. Simple, straightforward, not sure if I picked up very much but I was accustomed to most thing gone over. Meet the minimum sentence count or you'll lose valuable (and easy) points.
Uses SmartLearn for the book, no modules to complete there tho. Just weekly discussion w 2 responses. 3 or 4 quizzes, which are taken out of the book. End of semester concert report is weighted heavily. Fair grader and made the class interesting!
Dr H is very sweet and accommodating, especially if something goes wrong oh his end of Blackboard. Class was very easy, 1 discussion a week with 2 replies, 3 exams, and a concert report. Also, some easy extra credit opportunities. You buy an ebook but I only read about a page of it. A musical background helps a lot.
Great Professor ! I didn't know much about music until I was apart of his class. If you do your work on time and study, then it's an easy A.
The class was an easy A if you do all of your assigned work. Professor was extremely prompt in grading and responding to any questions.
Very straightforward profession, i actually enjoyed him. He was very prompt in responding to any issues i had as well as he graded and posted graded almost instantly. Be aware though, he does NOT accept late work unless you have an medical documentation. Weekly discussions, 3 tests, and a final project. He also gives 3 chances for extra credit.
Professor Howard was one of the best professors that I've taken. In total of 7 discussions, 3 exams, and a final. Discussions were not that easy, it requires some thinking skills, but they were so interesting. He gives great feedback and grades REALLY FAST.
The best professor I've had yet. I had a major life altering event and he worked with me on deadlines. Offered me encouragement. Was kind, fair in grading. Offered extra credit. Was understanding about workloads. Opened class early to give us head start. Lots of reading, but due dates are manageable, even with condensed schedule. Highly recommend.
Truly, I didn't like how he posted the syllabus the week that the class started on top of that he says we are all in college for discussions so we should know what format discussions should be put in. From my experience every college teacher is difference so I feel that he should express exactly what he needs for his students to do to be successful
Dr. Howard!! Awesome class and instructor. there is quite a bit of reading but it's great learning material. Follow instructions, proofread your papers, make sure to turn in assignments on time, and comment on discussion boards and you'll get a great grade. I don't see any reason that anyone won't get an A.
This professor was amazing. I wish all my teachers were as caring and on top of assignments like he was. He also provided multiple attempts during the course to bring your grades up and receive extra credit. He made his students love for music grow and have a better understanding of the history it all came from.
Do yourself a favor and take his class. Yes, lots of reading, but by far the most understanding Professor I have encountered at FSCJ. Fair and reasonable. Great class if you are inclined to open your mind.
Dr. H. was wonderful! I really enjoyed his class and highly recommend him as your professor. The class was fun. Dr. H. was very clear in his comments for his grades.
7-wk online class. Dr. H. clearly outlines EVERYTHING in his syllabus. READ IT ALL OF THE WAY THROUGH! He gives clear feedback and constant reminders of what is expected. It's not much. There's a discussion post each week and 3 exams. There were a couple of opportunities for extra credit. Enjoy the Spotify playlists that coincide with some lessons.
Great professor! Just be ready for a lot of quizzes and discussions. All in all it was a great class as long as you do all your homework and read the syllabus, you should pass with no problems.
Prof. Howard is great. Lots of reading, 300-word weekly discussion board, +2 response to classmates. 3 quizzes, 50 questions each, 1.5 hours to complete. One final report for a live concert, although he also provided some pre-recorded videos to choose from. Sounds harder than it is, I promise. Multiple chances to get extra credit.
Prof H is great. Lots of reading, 300-word discussions weekly including 2+ responses to classmates. 3 exams 50 questions each all 1.5hr to complete. Live concert project is fairly easy he gives you a choice to go to a live concert or a pre-recorded one. It sounds like alot of work but it is fairly easy.
100% would take a class with this professor again. As an elective class requirement, I found the workload/quizzes/tests were all very reasonable expectations for the class and the final concert report was really interesting and clearly outlined. Professor Howard was wonderful, humble, and reasonable and I highly, highly recommend.
Professor Howard has been one of my favorites so far. He is kind and very fair. Read your syllabus all the way through. You will have to attend a live concert and write a report.
One of the best professors I've had in my academic career. Incredibly kind with great personalized feedback after every discussion/paper. Took the 7-week online course and had lots of required reading, plus weekly discussions, several critique papers, and several exams. Easy A if you do the work and follow the guidelines. Would love to take again!
Awesome teacher, tons of extra credit. Not tough on grading at all, no proctored tests either for Music Humanities. Ended the class with over 100% lol. If you have to take a humanities, this is the one.
Mr. Howard is one of the best professors I had. He gives good feedback on your work. He cares about his students and gives lots of extra credit. If you're still hesitant to take his class, please do yourself a favor and take his class.
I would 100% take this class again, loved the coursework, professor was so communicative and easy A.
professor Howard was the best no proctored exams nice and understanding it is quite a bit of reading but its worth it there are 7 total discussions and 3 exams and a few extra credit chances if your thinking about taking him do it you want regret it grade A
lots of work and you need to read the textbook otherwise you will not understand what is going on, i knew nothing ab music and passed with an A. be prepared for reading and discussion posts, v nice teacher but for a music class it is somewhat intense. but if you put effort itll get you far, he offers plenty of extra credit and no proctored exams.
