Great teacher - nice, not too difficult, great explanations.

Cool Prof. not too boring...keeps you involved.
Good teacher, hard exams
THE NED FLANDERS OF THE HIS DEPT, IF U TAKE ASIAN HISTORY BEWARE-ITS REAL HARD
great professor, hard exams
boring, hard test, bla bla bla, usually history stuff
boring. boring.. boring. Whats up with the map he is always lugging around
easy class if you can keep yourself from laughing at him
The best professor ever. Fair grader and very intersting.
Awesome. Do your work enjoy his humor. He is Quinton Tarantino's look alike!
Very helpful- study for the midterm & final. Don't wait until the last minute.
Funny, but not easy. Very knowledgable and interesting
interesting, fair, the review helps to know the topics for exam, i recommend him
good prof., at first may seem like a lot of work, but at the end it's worth it
Smart, knowledgeable, clever jokes - take him if u're serious about education
Good prof. Hard exam though
good professor - very knowledgeable!!!!
one of the best professors at pace. take him and u will love history.
Great Professor. He is VERY knowledgeable and enjoyable.
very knowledgeble through experience-good person
Good professor, good lectures. Do well in papers study the review sheet
Has high expectation of his students, hard test, but overall, not so bad =)
Not so bad, confusing at times, but overall, OKAY
Listen in class, take notes. Exams are based on class notes.
Group term paper? wtf?
the course material is straightforward. term paper, midterm, final
Great Proffessor, exams are easy, papers are too except the group term paper thing, maybe he'll abolish that.
it's hard, but really good stuff.
very boring, listen and take notes in class and you will do fine on the midterm and final
He is fine, however, you need to prepare yourself for the group project. It's up to 20 pages for 4 persons. Need to define name of dynasty and people in history.
very geeky and funny. It's interesting to see him write chinese because he does it so well! Easy papers and exams. Study and you'll do fine. Show up for class and don't fall asleep. Gives long breaks and is all around a cool guy. Can't fail.
A little boring at times. Can be funny in a geeky sort of way. You will need to write a lot for this class, but it IS a writing-enhanced course.
Sometimes funny in a dark way. Do take a lot of notes, usually 2 pages per class. The essays aren't that bad as long as you know what you're talking about. The term paper can be obscure and hard to research.
Easy class and really interesting. Don't even buy the book, just show up (if he does) and take notes. Entire midterm is outlined in a handout.
I used like Asia before this class.
He knows the material. The class is interesting but its soo early. He can be kind of funny in a geeky kind of way but he's def. a nice guy.
Stay away from this man. He's nice but he's unclear and his class is boring. Not an easy grader either.
Great professor, BUT THIS IS NOT AN EASY CLASS AT ALL. Get ready for a lot of work.
Very interesting prof. I learned things about the former USSR that I never heard before. Very fair grader, nice guy.
do not take his class. his group project will ruin your gpa. do not take him. UNFAIR!
Run away from this man!! For every paper u have to hand in, he just gives u a outline and then u are on your own. The way he lectures the class make you hate history!! If u don't want to screw up your grade... RUN~~~~~~~~
the most interesting professor ever. his lectures tend to drag on but he is a really interesting person and has so much knowledge in his head. he outlines the midterm and the final so there are no suprises, however he is not clear a lot
Take him if you enjoy history. Don't take him if you hate group projects. Easy grader.
unfair grade in his class and the group paper also ruin your grade.
Proffesor Frank is a great teacher. Very helpful and straight forward. His review sheets cover the exam, so theres no surprises, study the study sheet and you will get a good grade. Very helpful with professors, this is my second class with him and will continue to take more with him.
Deffinetly knows alot, very interesting class, a bit greedy with grades, but would take him again.
He's a fun professor who makes history interesting. He's quirky and witty. Thoe who have anything bad to say about him are lazy students. His class does require a lot of work and there are no easy A's. Put some REAL effort into the class and you'll earn a good grade.
He is a great professor. The exams are pretty easy since his study sheets are so well outlined. Recommend to all.
FRANK HAS A BAD REPUTATION AMONGST THE HISTORY MAJORS, I WAS RELUCTANT TO TAKE THIS COURSE AT FIRST, BUT HE BLEW ME AWAY WITH HIS LECTURES... THE EXAMS WERE A BIT EASY, THE REVIEW SHEET HELPED OUT, BUT AGAIN HIS LECTURES ARE THE BASIS FOR THE EXAMS. FRANK IS THE MAN, BIG UPS TO RKF!
take this class if you are interested..dr. frank is very smart and the class was fun...if you put forth a decent affort youll get an A, grades papers hard but midterm and final are easy if you study. gives great study guides for tests!
I really HATE history but his class wasn't that bad. His lectures are a bit boring but can be interesting too. I think he's a pretty fair grader but expect to do a lot of work. He's brillant and passionate about his work and tries to make it fun. Take the class if you want to learn and work a lot.
very interesting class, you learn a lot and he knows a lot so therefore, if you take notes and study you will do extremely well, you get what you deserve, you will need to earn your grade! He will expand your knowledge about diff. countries!
very smart guy very helpful. if u try, ull get e good grade
A Great History Professor, If I was a history major I would take him in all of the classes he teaches. I never want to miss a class of his even though his lectures are long, but I am always interested.
Professor Frank is my favorite Professor at Pace. This is my 3rd course with him and I'm taking HIS296A with him next semester of Spring 06'. He is the dept. head of East Asian studies so if you are minoring in this, you'll do fine. 2 papers and midtern and final in every class, study and you'll do great. Take him if you can!
I thought we would learn about Russia from the Cold War, but turned out otherwise. Not a hard grader at all, but talks 4 three hours straight without taking a breath.
hes not as easy as some people say. exams are ok-essays are easy, but you have to answer 10 identifications out of 10 he gives, when he gave 50 to study. he does grade book revies and papaers fairly easy though.
2nd time taking his class. One of my absolute favorite professors. His class is so fun. I didnt even get the book and I got an A in the class. One book review, one midterm, one term paper, and one final. Wonderful teacher. Recommend to all.
its boring and the research paper does not have a grade. But at least we learn something about the history of China and Japan. Not an easy grade, but helpful on midterm and final exam review.
Dr. Frank is an amazing professor. He has a great sense of humor and knows how to make lectures interesting. He provides great guidelines for papers, and helpful study sheets for exams. The exams are challenging, but he recognizes the material's obscurity and doesn't grade that hard. In his classes an "A" is definitely attainable. Highly Recommend.
we just comes into a class and loves hearing himself talk. he and the other professor that was teaching this class were constatly cracking up with their inside jokes, and you just sit there and listen to their laugh. i guess when it comes to grading he is not that tough (depending on his mood). i don't know if i would recommend him, unless you l
Notes make no sense and tests are terrible. Make sure you are willing to do an 8 pg term paper
Great teacher. Incredibly intelligent and funny as well. He makes the material interesting and makes it easy to learn.
Likes to hear himself talk. Goes off topic and gives you a test without covering that material in class. He is not very helpful but he is very smart.
This professor knows the subject well but does not communicate it effectively. He often forgot his notes or was unprepared and would go on tangents about random topics. Though tests and papers he helps you as much as he can.
great prof. easy!
Professor Frank obviously knows the material for the Learning Community course "Sacred and Secular in East Asia", but sometimes it seems he assumes all his students already know the material as well. Much of the course is conducted as a lecture, so if this is not your learning style, this may not be the class for you.
Its such a bad class!
He says really important stuff in class, so be sure to take good notes!
He and Prof. O'Sullivan have these inside jokes that leaves them in hysterics but makes the rest of the class question their sanity. Other than that, he's an intelligent guy but he can talk your ear off and make you want to fall asleep in class to the point that Prof. O'Sullivan sometimes falls asleep while Frank is teaching!
Take notes during his class. I get tired of looking at his boring face but class is not so bad if you show up and take notes.
Well, the class is one that is unexplainable as well as unpredictable. Watch the movies, get the books, and make sure you have your coffee and your cigarette before class.
Prof. Frank is a joke. Everything that comes out of his mouth is with the intention to open a discussion or begin a story that relates to his personal experiences with the Asian culture. He does not teach, he talks about irrelevant things. He cracks himself up all class long and leaves the students feeling lost and helpless. DO NOT take his class.
I would never take one of his classes again. He does not give a book but instead you are supposed to pick one out that covers the material. He grades RIDICULOUSLY! Totally boring and not too considerate. He goes thru terms too quickly and the class overall is not enjoyable.
He teaches as if you already know the subject. You dont really learn much from his class because he goes off topic so much. To study for the final, you use google more than his lecture notes because he doesnt talk about half the topics. I highly suggest not taking his class
Was really nice and helpful with papers. His class may be boring but you will learn A LOT from it.
1 midterm 1 final 1 paper (8-10 pages on Japan) (1 book review 3-4pages). He makes you get your own textbook. You could go to the library or pace library or if your like me, I emailed him saying I got a book on japan but I never did and saved me $$. Gives review sheets for midterm and final, WIKIPEDIA IS A MUST. Pretty boring. Sit and listen tohim
Very intelligent man but basically goes off on tangents for the entire class. Always interrupts Prof Connerney and is very slow on grading papers. Make sure you have an interest in Asian history and a cup of coffee because the class can get really boring at times. The only positive thing is that due dates on reviews are flexible.
He thinks that you already know the info that he teaches. Tangents!!!! BORING CLASS! Attandance is mandetory- BUT due dates are flexible! Thinks he is smarter than Prof. Connerney, who he would aways interupt!...
Very difficult, but you will be treated like an adult. Teaches as if you should have prior knowledge. Tells you exactly what will be on the midterm and final, but the term paper will be awful (expect to make 4+ drafts). I got an A by doing all of my papers on time and studying everyday, if you cannot make that commitment then he is not for you.
This guy is the worst professor on Pace by far. He has given me my lowest grade thus far. He expects you to know EVERYTHING and if you don't you are in trouble. There is so much information to take each class. If you don't start studying right away just drop the class. Midterm and Finals are HARD.
Dr. Frank is an incredible lecturer. Don't worry if you don't catch everything he says, since he provides detailed review sheets. If certain terms you need to know are not in your notes, just Google or Wikipedia them for the exams. If you know your term paper topic early enough in the semester, he might suggest a book or two for your bibliography.
Being a history lecture, it does get boring but his personal stories about travel and research related to European countries is a bonus. Took him for European Renaissance. Just take notes, go to class, hand in assignments... Guaranteed A.
Frank has some much information he doesn't know what to do with it. He is personally offended if all attention isn't on him and therefore will nag you if you have your laptop out even if you are taking notes. Overall he is more annoying than anything else. Take this class only if you have prior knowledge on the subject.
By far the worst professor in Pace. He spends majority of the class time talking about his trips to certain places or his life journey. He wont be clear about the topic. Gives tons of work and never clear about what he wants in your papers. During the exams he gives out review sheet with useless info.
I've had Dr. Frank for two classes AND he's the chair of my major's department. LOADS of readings but he will give you tips on how to organize the information. He grades papers on their "potential" and his constructive comments make you want to smack him. However, his bark is definitely worse than his bite and he is actually super caring.
For his learning community, I loved his lectures. He goes into the right amount of detail and you can see his excitement on the topic. His powerpoints are notes for him to follow when he lectures, so take notes on the points that he orates. He was willing to give me an extension on an assignment when something came up in my life.
Sometimes his lectures go on to long but overall he's a super nice guy and easy grader.
Sometimes his accent can be a bit confusing but the class is very informative and assignments are clear.
Ronald Frank talks for the entire 2 hour long class, no breaks. Assigned 5 papers so far and only 2 hav been graded; one was submitted in September, and still has not been graded now in December. Gives no rubric for papers, and if he does, it will be sent 2 days or less before the deadline. Singles out classmates during group participation game.
Teacher is alright, easy grader but literally so behind with grading they didn't even start grading until after the final when there were like 20 assignments ungraded. The lectures are soooo boring, I could not stay awake, the slides absolutely sucked.
Dr. Frank is knowledgeable and passionate about the course, even providing personal experiences from travelling abroad and incorporating them into the lecture. With that said, though slides are provided, information in the course is either verbal or from the mandatory textbook reading, so be sure to read up on it prior to attending class.
