Mr. Kendis is a good math professor. Although sometimes he tends to get carried
Covers material quickly, but is always ready to answer questions. Tests are easy IF you know the material. No make up tests.Tends to digress
HE IS A VERY GOOD TEACHER.

You might as well buy the book and teach yourself if your going to take his class. He makes too many jokes and goes off the subject at times. His tests are easy if you understand the material. If not, get a tutor and teach yourself.
an excellent teacher, he is probably the only teacher who takes time to actually get to know you, and tries to help you understand the math. His jokes make the class more easier to listen to. If you have taken a calculus class, then you know it's zzz...
Kendis, is a fun approchable professor. he has a background in psychology, so it was fun to have him for stats. even though i got a c in his class i would take him again, because even though he does say jokes he goes over the material.

The best math teacher that i have ever had. Very simple explanations on the most complex of topics. Calculus was the most exciting class i took, and I am not too fond of math. Never thought of sleeping once in his class. Lecture notes are excellent. Review chapter problems and you should be ok.
Mr kendis' Whit is sharper than anyone I've ever met in my life. He is the only person who ever actually made me look forward to Algebra. W/out his positive reinforcement I wouldn't have made it through these required courses!
Very helpful and kind. Excellent teacher who clearly loves to teach. His classes will always prepare you for the next level of math.
He is a helpful teacher and not too hard. Do his homeworks and you will do great in his exams. He is an extremely nice person. I rate him as a great teacher.
very good teacher. has a unique style of teaching- which is great.
Best teacher ever. If you hate math, or have a hard time with it, this is the best teacher to take. His teacher is refreshing and new, and keeps you from slipping into boredom.
I never thought that stats could be an easy class. Even though his chokes are not too interesting, Mr. Kendis makes this class easy and clear enough to pass all tests. Study and practice your notes and you will pass this class.
i got Cs in all my math classes, but got an A in his. he is very clear, very helpful, some bad jokes, but eh, it keeps ur attention. he's a very nice guy too, and encouraging. oh, and unlike other math teachers, you actually LEARN math in his class. no HW,5 tests and a final. all tests at about 4 questions.(show all work)can use calc, and solutions
Great teacher~!!! Generous and considerate. exams are relatively easy. Need to focus on fundamental.
if you want to understand deeply about the subject, you will be more clearly to understand, then take with him.
GREAT! SWEET! SUPER NICE! Really easy tests! Qs from the examples. He doesn't care how stupid you are as long as you are willing to learn.
He goes over most of the textbook examples and nothing more. His tests are extremely easy. He onlt expects you to understand the basic concepts of each theme in calculus. However, the overall expectation of this class is so low that I wonder how students that pass this class will survive calculus 2, 3, or meet the standards of a university.
GREAT TEACHER! Very funny and very helpful. He loves to teach and you learn a lot in his class, so you are ready for the next math level.
Math 261. Class was composed of lectures. Numerous examples are done step by step. Your grade was composed of a test for each chapter and a cumulative final. There was no extra credit or homework. Professor Kendis is very nice, loves to tell jokes, and a diabetic.
Professor Kendis is great. He explains everything, sometimes more than he has to. The day before the test he has a study session in class where you can ask questions. You should take advantage of this day, not miss it. Will be taking his Calc II class in the spring. I recommend Kendis.
I like Mr. Kendis. He is the nicest teacher.I definitely recommend him if you want to pass. out of 60 students in his class, there is 90-100% chance the class will pass. one thing i just don't like about him is that he doesn't really teaches better compare to Ms. Payne but I still like him because he goes easy to the students when it comes to grade
Gives examples and goes over them thoroughly - don't get lost! For tests, the Qs are from the examples, just worded & numbered differently. Beware: Kendis will sometimes single-out people -- may it be what they're wearing, how they answered a Q, etc. My suggestion is to keep yourself out of the spotlight and you'll do fine - you'll get an A. Study!
I LOVE PROFESSOR KENDIS! HE'S THE BEST! HE IS VERY CLEAR, VERY NICE,VERY PATIENT. I WISH HE WAS TEACHING 115 FOR FALL I'D SO TAKE HIM! I HIGHLY RECOMEND HIM!
It seems like your that is teaching you ...the nicest professor I'VE ever had. blessings for you professor Kendis.
awesome prof. very nice, very fair in grading, and explains the material very well!
HE IS NICE AND ALL...but he doesnt grade. He has this assistant tutor doing 30min teaching at the end of classes with clueless students jam packing with no space and the test is graded by some lady who grades your homework. so.. Kendis does practically nothing. You are on your own in studying and passing this class.DO DOUBLE WELL ON THE FINAL!
Don't let the fact that he used to teach psych at UCLA fool you. He is the best math teacher so far. Take good note and review problem sets and you will do very good. there are 5 tests (4 tests and a final). I got an A in this course and i believe anyone can get an A as long as you take each lecture seriously and take good note. Good luck!!
Mr.Kendis is Nice and Funny. Very cheerful man, hes teaching is great. Obviously you have to take good notes and study for any class, opposed to math everything thats on the review sheets its exactly whats on the test just different numbers! He's friendly with everyone take him!!!
Great teacher. Tells jokes that dont make sence but they are funny. Uses any examples to try to explain the problem correclty. Attend class and pay attention, and you will pass the class with an "A."
all that matters is you do all the homework and the final... if you do well on your quiz and dont get a A on the final and didn't do 80% of the homework he will fail u
I hate math and I've always struggled with it,but kendis made it easy to understand. exams can seem hard, but if you do the hw and take good notes you'll pass his class. He's very, very helpful when you are stuck and have questions.Trust me I suck at math and I passed this class without repeating it.I reccomend him to those who love or hate math.
Easy and fun teacher
GREAT TEACHER! i LEARNED ALOT FROM HIS CLASS. hE WANTS ALL OF HIS STUDENTS TO MASTER THE MATERIAL. I RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER FOR STATISTICS!
his class is fun. examples are crystal clear. exams are challenging but not hard. grades fairly. and his jokes cracks me up
Its the 2nd time I take his class. Teaches well. Attendance not mandatory, but recommended. Class not easy or hard. Gives daily hw. If u fail the exams u can pass with a C if you do all your hw. Or dont do ur hw & still pass if you get A's on exams. Exams arent tricky. they're just to see if u know the material. Super nice & funny too!recommended!
HE IS THE BEST TREACHER , IVE EVER HAD. HE MAKES MATH SUPER EASY TO UNDERSTAND. I RECOMMEND HIM IF MATH IS NOT YOUR SUBJECT, BUT WITH HIM , HE'LL BE A BIG HELP AND DO THE HW BECAUSE IT HELPS TO PRACRICE FOR THE TEST.
Okay he is a great teacher down to earth very good the way he teaches i had him for calculus and math 112 the on ly thing that he has is that whenever he gets a Mentor he always gets this Lady Named Stacy Houge he really gets distracted very easily around her stops in the middle of teaching and says something random to her very weird. if you want t

i agree
This is the best teacher i ever had. He makes math super easy, if you have trouble with math i would recomend taking his class. He also had a mentor named Stacy, she is very helpfull. Between them two you would get math way faster that you are use to.
BEST PROFESSOR! Gives credit for homework and he's really cool and funny. Makes jokes during class and at the same time he teaches. He puts humor in teaching his students the material. Overall, great professor! I do recommend taking his class.
he's dope....his test are easy you just have to study and you'll be fine.....
I never would've gotten through stats without this man. An honest, intelligent, good teacher who's there and willing to work WITH you if you seek him out. Solid.
Great teacher
An amazing teacher. Very helpful. He tries his very best, to have all his students understand the material and pass the class with high grades. Being the kind of person who hates word problems, since I am not good at it, I was actually able to pass the class with an A. Put some effort, ask questions, take good notes, and you will be fine.
He is the best math professor!!! he is passionate about math. Really cares about his students. Just do the hw and tests will be super easy. This is my 3rd math class that I have taken with him. Super helpful. U MUST TAKE HIM IF U WANT TO LEARN!!!!
Kendis loses his place and gets confused, which is in turn confusing. Nice guy, but the only people who did well in this class were taking it for the second time. Tests on material he hadn't covered yet, accidentally made people with questions feel stupid - the class tone on exam day was always despair and panic. Fine for lower level courses.
Professor Kendis is a terrific professor, I recommend him for any type of math levels.
He's a great teacher, I took him for calc 1 after failing it at smc and he made everything so clear. He can get a little sidetracked sometimes but still keeps you engaged. I'm taking him for calc 2 right now and he makes it really easy to understand. Unless you are a math genius, the least you should do is the hw for preparation for the test.
He's a really nice person; mostly teaches examples from the book, tests are easy, no HW or extra credit.
I would highly recommend him for lower division math. He explains everything really well, but for calculus it's not enough. Pr. Kendis solves ONLY examples during his lectures, and then on tests he give problems which are waaaaay harder. So if you attend lectures plus solve every single problem the book offers you , you will be fine.
This is seriously the best math instructor I have ever had in all my years of math instruction. I seriously don't believe how, but I learned the topics that gave me an extremely hard time with this professor. His teaching skills are excellent and I seriously can't see myself taking Calc 2 with any other professor - I'm going to miss Kendis :/
Stuendt's comments made me surprise.. He never had nice to me.. I didn't like him either..
Kendis is a nice man. He is not clear when lecturing. Likes to go off subject too much. Relies on his mentor to teach his classes. You wont learn much in lect. Five Quiz. Final only. Five answer quiz. Grades on Curve. If taken Stats 1 or 2 times then okay to take him.
Kendis is a great teacher but assigns way to much homework. Quizzes are simple and exams too he tries too hard to be funny but some jokes are funny. Just do all the homework and pass your quizzes and you too can pass!
I took MATH 125 with Professor Kendis and made sure to take his class for MATH 261. He explains the concepts, not just how to follow formulas. He makes strange jokes to keep the class/himself entertained. For MATH 125 he collected all the homework, but for MATH 261 he expects you practice on your own!
In class all he does is go over the examples in the book which is already done for you step by step. Seems like he doesn't know Calculus, don't understand why he's teaching it. On top of everything, he assigns no homework so the class is solely based on tests & the final.
kendis is a horrible instructor. Relies too much on the student mentor, sumit who is equally useless. Goes off topic. Shows basic problems then on tests advanced problems. thank goodness for khan academy otherwise i would have failed. worst teacher ever. talks about s and m too much. gross. preaches too much on his atheist beliefs also and judges.
It is true that he just goes over examples that are already in the book. However, if you study the concepts on your own and ask questions, you should be okay. Grade is based on 5 short exams ( not that hard) and the final. Prof. Kendis would help any student that show interest and ask for help.
I feel as if I took this professor for granted because I didn't pay much attention in his class. I felt like I knew what I was doing with the homework and tests, but when it came to factoring, that's when I got screwed. He WILL help you. Just need to be proactive and listen. Yes, he does examples from the book, so it could get a little confusing.
His lectures are somewhat useful, but I found myself learning more outside the classroom. It may just be my learning style. His tests are tough, but mostly straight forward, no curveballs. Go to class, and do homework even though its not required and you'll be fine.
Studied a lot seems like a waste now that I think of it .... should have taken it with Salazar. *Face palm* Nice guy though
Prof. Kendis is a great guy with a sense of humor. However, you could tell that he's tired of teaching. His tests are easy compared to other profs and he gives no homework. This class is mostly a self study as you can skip the class and study outside and still pass the tests. Overall, take him if you think you can do most of the study on ur own.
Oh my gosh, this guy is easy! I feel like i am back doing elementary school math with him. Finally a math class I can ace, haha! He makes the problems out of math we learned in fifth grade but then shows you how to do it step by step with one algebra term thrown in, thats the test! If you just need to get through math this is the class to take.
Great Teacher. I barely knew how to calculate 2+2! I understand everything and I am able to hep others now. Take him!!!!
Good professor. Though the math was hard, the professor is a very very easy grader. Perhaps you'll learn better with a more difficult teacher because he's very lenient.
Avoid at all cost.
Professor Kendis actually helped me become a better math student! He surprisingly makes math feel pretty easy. He is also pretty funny and really tries to bond with his students and cares for them. Homework is also something I recommend doing since it prepares you for his exams. verall I really like him and I'm currently in his Math 125 class!
Solid teacher: Didn't assign any HW and would sprinkle stories about historical math people to make lectures more interesting. Thought he was really funny too. The tests were SUPER easy and the amount of time I spent on math learning seemed unproportional. Do yourself a favor and really understand this stuff for your more advanced classes later
his teaching isnt clear at all. If you wanna pass the class, you have to do tutoring everyday. Thats the only way you will actually have an idea on what it is that he is trying to teach. Dont expect him to reply to your email no matter how urgent or important it is. He might reply a wweek or two later. Ridicules students for being late.
PRO: never had homework. Hired his own tutor for his classes that was VERY helpful. CON: tends to go off subject during lecture which can be confusing BUT he pays for his own tutor who stayed the entire semester. He put learning the info in our hands and made it our responsibility. I liked not having tedious HW assignments. he loves curve.
The best thing about Kendis is his sense of humor and anecdotes. He's intelligent but a total goof ball. Textbook is not required. I got by with a used $5 Stewart Calculus text. He is not the best teacher but excellent if you can manage to study on your own. He curves exams and is generous with partial credit.
I love Professor Kendis. He's funny and his lectures are easy to follow, although he gets the same examples from the book. Gives homeworks weekly but it is a way to get you more practice on what you're learning. He's also very considerate and easy to approach. Take him :)
Professor Kendis is amazing. I have taken several of his classes, and I'm not the best at math, but he was patient and understanding. He gave me great advice and no matter how many times I wanted to give up, he'd give me look, I knew I could do it. Yes he is a goof ball, but he is caring, and he loves inspiring us. Grades on a curve, drop lowest.
Good professor, clear lectures, fair exams.
Great professor who cares about teaching his students the material. There's no homework, all your grade is based off exams and finals. He gets off topic sometimes but he is only trying to keep the class interesting. He tries to be clear about everything he teaches, so its worth it to come to class. Definitely one of the better math professors.
I truly admire this professor. He's really have a passion for teaching. So cool. Tutor helped a lot. Taking Kendis was the best choice I've ever made in my college. Since, it was my last semester of college, I truly feel thankful.
Amazing profesor. Do your homework and you'll pass the test. He might look out of topic, but he teach trough his philosophy that math must be learn for life and not just to pass the class. He loves jokes and lot of story times. He has a tutor so go to tutoring at least once a week to get a pretest sheet that help A LOT!!!!!!
he is patience and answers questions about math. He helps students with setting a tutor for his own class after class. He gives a schedule of the chapter you read per week and the schedule of the test which help to prepare before the test plus the tutor after class helps.
I took his classes for calc1 and calc2. Although the clac1 was relatively easy, the calc2 class was very hard. His exam problems were not easy at all. Yet, he doesn't drop any exam scores or curve the grades. I don't understand why people saying his class was easy for them. He is a one of the toughest math professors.
Worst professor I have ever had. He gets off topic and goes on rants about stuff completely irrelevant. The lectures were just 3-4 examples from the text. Always made mistakes and had students correct him. No point in going to class. Just read the book on your own. No one knew what to expect on the test. All he said was read the whole chapter.
This professor has a good ranking and good feed back because most students like taking easy professors that talk about anything else besides the subject Honestly you will not learn anything from him unless you read the book or have previously taken the course. He makes A LOT of mistakes and he pretends to do them on purpose He needs to be replace
Kendis is a nice person, but his high rating comes solely from lowerdivision math classes where students prefer an easy professor. He is not very helpful when it came to Calculus, and you ended up having to read or watch lecture videos elsewhere. He should not be a professor for Calculus. He makes too many mistakes and it only confuses you.
the only reason I passed his 115 (A) and 125 (B) was because he always has a side tutor after class he tends to ship many steps when explaining examples from the book and easily goes off topic where you have to remind him to resume explaining math. Yea he has a good sense of humor but I don't recommend taking him for 227.
Beautiful teacher who is understanding and clear without having any tricks
He is funny, nice, and caring. His tests are super easy. You must attend tutoring to understand the material better He gives homework but it is optional if you want to do it. He has his own tutor who works magic in helping you understand the material better and who provides you with study guides before the test.
Didnt bring a calculator, didnt use the book in lectures, and made mistakes on the regular. Seemed like he wanted joke at lectures rather than teach. The class was pretty much self-taught. Had to look up you tube videos and utilize his tutor. Without it we would have been lost. Dont take.
There was no HW for this class which was nice, but there were fundamental problems with the rest of the course. He is a nice man, and likes to crack jokes, but as far as being an instructor, he is not the best. I received an A in MATH227 because I studied very hard from the book and online on my own time. He didn't teach thoroughly in class.
Did not like his teaching style and no matter how much I paid attention and wrote down notes I did not understand what was going on. He likes to use different methods from the book and likes to joke around and goes off topic. I do not recommend anyone to take his class, I had to drop it since I knew I wasnt going to pass.
Do NOT take this professor if you do not want to transfer. I added this class to begin with because it said it would have staff helpers and after all it did not. Secondly this class was one hour and ten minutes everyday and only 30 minutes he talked over useful stuff. His tests are nothing like his board examples. He is not clear on this materials.
This professor spend most of his time trying to make jokes that had to do nothing over examples for this class. Every-time someone comes in late this professor would put them on a spot distracting himself &everyone . Los Angeles city college did not provide any statistics tutor and recently added one that was confused himself with a heavy accent.
Kendis is not suited for higher level math. His classes are disorganized, and not worth attending. Lecture will be 60% reading straight from the book. Examples will have multiple mistakes, and the explanation is not rigorous. The other 40% will be jokes. Skip his lectures, watch prof leonard on youtube, attend tutoring regularly, practice a lot.
Impossible to do. Starts adding problems from the next chapter. Does not care if people do well or terrible. Only teaches from book and does proofs in class. NO HOMEWORK, and recommended problems are always late if they are given in the first place. DO NOT TAKE IF YOU NEED HOMEWORK TO BE ABLE TO LEARN. He knows the stuff but can't teach the stuff.
I'll be honest he's a nice guy, smart and does have good humor but his way of teaching is disorganized and all is very broad. The examples are messy, the tests are nothing like what he teaches in his lectures. All your learning will be in the book don't expect him to give you homework either, there isn't any. Don't take this class
I'll be honest. Following his class, I switched my major to something WAY more math intensive, but I hardly ever knew what the man was talking about. He gets that his lectures aren't for everyone, so he usually makes sure to provide a good tutor. If you're having trouble, just make sure you're putting in the extra effort. He recognizes that.
I have to say math totally isn't my strong suit, but I'm doing great in his class! He is very nice and caring, if you don't understand you have to ASK! He is very patient and explains everything even multiple times if you don't understand. The exam is usually made of examples we went over during Zoom. I don't understand all the bad reviews!!
He's very caring and understanding and I love his tutor Zera Vaughan. Professor Kendis is a great professor. I learned a lot in his math 125 class.
In high school, I was horrible in math & failed my math courses until I enrolled in his class. Now I'm passing his class with flying colors! I wouldnt be passing without the help of his tutor, Zera. They both are great people & are very understanding. I truly recommend this class with the bottom of my heart. Hes great with students apart of OSS.
He is a very humorous and kind professor. He is ready to answer any questions. However, his lectures might not be the best because he only explains a few examples on each topic. Exams are not hard and are mostly based on homework.
This class was THE hardest class I have ever taken and I like math. The way he gives examples based on the calculus learning, most of the time will not make sense. The tests are so hard but at least he curves them. To paint the picture, most of the time 50% was a C which is just incredible. Just try to show some work and you will get some points.
Lecture could be very heavy and hard to understand, but he is there to help you. He is very caring. Tests are hard enough but pretty much based on the textbook, so there is a lot of homework every week; they are very helpful. The grades are curving. Always encourage you to go to class. Once you do your job, you'll get A. Trust me, you can get A.
Great teacher who goes above and beyond when students go above and beyond, but test heavy. DO NOT TAKE THE CLASS WITH HIM DURING SUMMER. IT IS WAY TOO FAST AND IT IS BASICALLY CRAM. So much homework and if you botch a test, be prepared to work 8 hours a day and destroy your sanity to barely get an A. Take the class in fall/spring (he's great tho).
He is a great professor, very funny, cares for his students grades, lectures are sometimes short or finished on time, helps when you have a though time in class, office hours are after class so you can stay and ask for help, if you can't afford textbook willing to let you take pictures of the homework, homework is always due on test days.
This professor is nice and respects his students. He is also funny. His lectures might end early or later but he skips a lot of the stuff in the textbook since he only wants to teach the important lessons.
You have lots of homework but manageable if u stay on top of it. If you aren't a visual and fast learner his style might not be for. Tests and quizzes are important of course. Pay attention to what he says in class an extra credit question may appear on the final. You need a textbook. The class I took was stats hard but manageable with Pi shop.
He isn't very tech savvy and didn't have a course on Canvas so you can't see your grade. All his assignments and tests are on paper. Homework piles up very easily but assignments aren't due until the day of the exam. I honestly didn't do lot of my homework but still learned enough during lecture to get a B in the class with just the exams.
he's a great guy. math is not my subject and i missed a few classes (don't). He goes through things quickly but he ultimately wants the best for you. If you have questions he will help. he's always wanting to help. Don't miss a class and don't fall behind and you'll be good. very funny and enjoyable to be around!
Professor Kendis was a beast. Tons of homework, but it made me actually learn. He'd throw new stuff on tests, so you had to really understand the material. Stressful at first, but I came out way better at math. One of the best profs I've had — respect.
