This is my third semester with Lapp. He is such a good professor. he seems mean, but he treats all students equally and gives a good grade. if you come every class. you will never fail.

I took his winter session class. He seems mean, but his not. If you do all the work, You will get good grade. Also he gives extra credit assignment which helps your grade a lot.

One of the best teachers at LACC! He is very friendly and easy going but you really have to pay attention on how he wants you to write your papers. He is very clear and very patient. Take his class and you won't regret.

You will learn how to formulate essays from this professor. He doesn't base grades on favoritism, he bases your grade on your work and effort. I learned how to format essays and had fun in this class.

I strongly recommend this person if you are taking English or ESL. He gives a lot of extra credits for students that are not doing so well in the class. and gives the coolest advices in terms of education.

I just finished Proffesor Lapp's class and I'd have to say this teacher comes off pretty strong to his students. I guess he just likes to scare them off at the start. But I had a great time in his class. I learned alot. And if you do all the work, then its a guarantee that he will give you a B or higher. I highly recomend Proffesor Ron Lapp.

Lots of work. First of all, he plays favoritism. Once he loves/hates you, he hates/love you throughout the semester. Unfortunately, the favoritism affects your grade. I had number of English major students (mostly tutors) to proofread my essays to assure an A. Lapp graded me mostly B's for my papers that he only skims through. He is a good person though.

He really keeps the class on the edge of their seats. Lapp keeps everyone engaged and you will have to be persistent in order to get an A. Do not lose any of your work that is graded and do as much extra credit as you can. You will need it all at the end when there is a portfolio review. Follow everything and you will learn much from him. Smart guy

Lapp was a pretty easy teacher. fair enough amount of for a five week class. he is very fair in grading. allows extra credit which no other english teacher does. learned alot in this class. if your not absent he will give an extra A. If you do all the work which is not alot you will pass the class with an A.

I took Professor Lapp during Winter 2011. At first i thought he would be very difficult but it turns out he is only very demanding. Makes you work. Topics were boring, although I'm sure the department guides the topic selection somewhat. He is funny, and can be entertaining at times, but it is what it is. He's not the type of teacher who's going to turn dung into gold for you, that's for sure.

His class was amazing, I would say, after my 2nd year in college, I never had a chance to interact with all the class, and even know all their names by heart, which is very important in this lonely world, where people these days only have individualistic approach to life. He has a very good sense of humor and makes you laugh in every meeting.

His 5 week class was killer, We got to learn a lot, and write a lot: 4 major essays, 1 mid-term paper, 1 final paper, 2 film review papers, 13 essay drafts, 5 forum participation, 2 books to read, 1 textbook to read, 7 quizzes, 10 other minor assignments, extra credits if you want to improve your grade, and many many more. At the end, "A" grade.

Ron can seen very intimidating on the first day of class. VERY intimidating. He will warm up to you eventually. I took the class during the summer session so it was a load of work! There were papers to write every night. It will challenge your writing skills. So if you are "not prepared to give 120%," then don't bother signing up for the class!

A strict and insanely committed teacher. Though his class is tough (he progressively gives a lot of assignments and essays to write) his methods are great and helps you learn about reading and writing. Just follow his instructions precisely and you should pass his class. Gives a lot of extra credit and interesting film reviews too.

If you are willing to do the work you can easily get an A in Ron Lapp's English 28 or 101 accelerated course. Be forewarned his course will take 60% of your time.

All I have to saw is that Mr. Lapp knows what he's doing. It may seem unorthodox and annoying at times, but you'll actually be learning something that you can take with you beyond this class.

I was uncomfortable in his class. However, I'm aware that this is my problem. He likes to give students a hard time and I'm too thin-skinned. If you're tough and can recognize that he's being playful, you will survive.

Mr.Lapp does not fool around. You shouldn't either. Understand that this is college. That means be responsible and stop being a baby. Attend classes. Pay attention. Read. Write. Then read and write some more, till you get sick of it. At the end of the semester you will feel that you invested your time, money and patience wisely.

Professor Lapp is very forward and tells a student exactly what he wants in an essay and to follow the scaffold exactly. Attendance is very important because he is always giving points for all the work in class. If you are easily offended by people being direct then he is not for you. He prepares you for future classes and has a sense of humor.

Good Professor. I took his 8 week courses over the Summer and Fall. Time consuming courses, but he is very specific on requirements. Don't miss any work and follow his correction and you will do fine. The class takes effort, so not for someone who is looking for an easy A. The class is worth taking. Wish he taught upper level classes.

Professor Lapp's English 101 class was definitely not what I expected it to be. This class was an "accelerated" class so being able to type and read quickly is a must. He provides many opportunities to earn extra credit so that's a huge plus. Students had to utilize the moodle website so be prepared to be online quite often. Do as he asks!

I took Lapp for summer and I found his class easy as long as you do the work! If you dont do the work be prepared to be yelled at in front of the class. Humm very sarcastic, every sentence has a hint of sarcasm. Yet it is really funny and quizzes are easy, not like other professors that dig deep into the book and find pointless subjects and make it real hard.

Look, if you want to succeed in college you better get the best education in writing essays. In my opinion, Ron Lapp is the best. Why? because he is not easy. He will assign daily readings and essays. He will take points off if he sees a comma in the wrong place. In the end, you will see the results. So take him and get ready to work.

Ron's class was not difficult, and he effectively taught me composition for academic writing. He puts the students in groups to review papers, which is somewhat helpful if you are with the right people. He assigned interesting political topics to write about. He gives you one grade for attendance. If you show-up everyday that's a "A". You're able to get extra credit, which is a plus. He grades on the honor system. Ronald Lapp has taught me a lot and my writing has improved in his class. I started off in his class with two C's on my papers and worked hard to get better grades. And completing the course with an A because I took his suggestions to improve my work. I would take his class for 102/103 if in the future he's teaching those classes. Great experience

I enjoyed taking professor Lapp's Winter course. Very intensive class but I am glad I stuck around. Assignments were always interesting and a few required going to the theatre, which was fun. Follow directions, come to class on time, and do your work!

Strict but caring teacher. Gives XC like candy and chances to revise/edit papers. I took an accelerated semester over the winter with another class. Did I lose sleep? You betcha. If you don't have a printer at home, make sure to go to the writing lab upstairs early! Otherwise you'll be in line waiting forever and lose your attendance grade.

Professor Lapp is an awesome teacher, I wish I took his on-site class rather than on-line class. He gives you a detailed outline of what he expects in the essays and grades it strictly based on that, so if you follow the outline, you will get an A. First, I took Ron Lapp's English 28 class last semester, this course was so intense that the college will no longer offer it. Out of 35 students only several of us actually passed. I just completed Ron's English 101 online five week course. Ron did an excellent job of teaching his students in both courses, how to read and write on a college level.

Intro: start broad, zoom in specific thesis statement. Transition last sentence to body. Body: introduce body topic (quote), quote, explain quote, mention relevance of quote to thesis, argue, summarize. Conclusion: like intro. summarize full argument. Mention importance/solution. Transitionimportant. Once understood, like puzzle/plug-in.

Mr. Lapp is a pretty solid English teacher. He gives really specific homework and essays that teach you to improve and be consistent with your writing. Best part, gives lots of extra credit opportunities. Very moderate quizzes and test. Show up to class, do the assignments, and listen than you will pass. Beware he does get moody but he warns you

Professor was very nice, he choose good book about American history and we studied not only English, but also history of the USA, that very useful for ESL students. He also paid attention to typing text on computer. In general I satisfied that got on his course, and recommended to my friends.

Mr. Lapp will point out your mistakes your paper has in front of everyone to allow other students to correct those mistakes on their papers. His amount of assignments are exactly the same as a regular semester, so keep your schedule clear. A lot of tests, quizzes, rough drafts, essays, and film reviews. Good class to challenge yourself. He cares.

Prof. Lapp's English 101 class is far from an easy A. He will assign various essays throughout the semester, each essay has a detailed scaffold which makes the paper easy to write. If you show up to each lesson with the homework completed you will do okay. Slackers should stay far away from Prof. Lapp. If you apply yourself you will learn alot.

Be prepared to write a lot. Follow the scaffold for every essay. The professor will make comments about your essay structure in front of the class. Prof. Lapp will train you to be en excellent writer for UC admission. Pay attention, don't be late and write your papers in advance. Do this and you will get an "A" Lapp's class is not an "easy A" course. You have to work for an "A" like I did for mine. If you want to feel prepared at a UC school, then take his class. Plus he gives so much EC.

If you are serious about learning the curriculum and leaving the class with a sense of knowledge and understanding, then Lapp is the right instructor. I took his class for English 101 and overall I think he is a good professor to take as long as you are willing to put in the work. You will be writing many essays but the material is fairly simple. There are no textbooks just small books that you will base your essays on so be ready to read. Watching movies and writing a response is extra credit.

Absolutely one of the best professors I've ever had. He does give homework every time the class meets but it's never anything you can't do. If you're looking for a teacher who's going just keep it real and demand the best from you then add this class. I've never felt so comfortable with my literacy until going to his class.

I will admit that English has never been a good subject for me, I always felt I lacked in the writing aspect. I took Ron's winter English 28 class and I truly enjoyed it! He is a funny guy... Though Ron can be serious at times, he truly cares about helping his students to learn. Lapp is an excellent prof, very easy class. Theres about 5 essays, but he gives you more than enough time to work on them. Because this was an online class everything was at a pace. This professor could be tough for those that are not committed to doing the homework on time and ahead of time.
