This guy is hands down the best prfessor I ever had. He opened my mind and changed led me to change my degree to Sociology. He relates everything you learn into a interesting and comprehensive story. I wish there were more like him.

He makes you want to say what's on everybody's mind out loud. Material is easy (mainly lecture and outside reading) if you consistently study. However, he postpones everything. Other than that, a definite class everyone should take.

Easy going, FUNNY. So liberal he makes bill clinton look like rush limbaugh, but still very fair. I'd take him again. Easy to pass, interesting classes.

fricken hilarious. makes u laugh every class period, PLUS you actually learn stuff that should probably be pretty complicated. great teacher. surely one of the best, if not THE best, sociology teacher @ Mesa.

Hilarious. Makes you actually want to learn Sociology. As he says he's just a 'caffiene addicted old surfer'. Has a doctorate degree and doesn't make you call him 'Doctor Ryno'. Down to Earth..he really must love hos job.

Take his class, he will make you laugh like crazy, all while actually learning. If you attend all the classes he gives you 100% on your first test. I achieved an A and expected a C. Great guy works with you if you need help.

Very funny and hip teacher..knows his information and applies it to daily life. Take notes and pay attention once in a while and you will do good. He is one the best teachers in Mesa that i have experienced! Reminds me of a layed-back surfer

The FUNNIEST teacher I have EVER HAD! You will never be bored in Ryno' class! Some things this guy says you wonder where it comes from. Very nice guy, entertaining, fun, interesting. I highly recommend this class!!! Can re-take all his tests.

This class is tough but forever rewarding! Ryno will change the way you think, and how you see the world. If you have what it takes to synthesize the concepts and write refined essays, then you will do well. Funniest, most amazing human being alive! Speakes beautiful Spanish. 'A' in class.

He's an easy teacher BUT he hates God. If you're a Christian then be prepared to have Ryno talk trash about your God and your faith. If your ready to stand up for your faith then take this class and be a light.

Hands down I can say Ryno is the BEST teacher at Mesa College. He makes you laugh the entire period! Good guy, and is very smart. Easy grading system and if you pay attention and go to class you will get a good grade. Take Ryno, it will change your junior college experience forever!

Great Teacher who has alot to say about the world around him.

This teacher may be a really great teacher, with his skills and knowledge of life, but it is very hard to do good on the tests if you dont take notes. A lot of his lectures are based on his life stories too, which makes it difficult. Make sure to take notes on every lecture or you will regre it!

This teacher is a great teacher, because he does care about his students. Something you should know is that you should take notes ALL the time. Some of his tests are only based on his notes, and not from the book. The extra credit are essays based on his lecture, so MAKE SURE TO PAY ATTENTION!!!

This man is off his rocker...God bless him. If you bomb a test, just write a paper. Make sure you read the book. If you're right-wing (like me), you'll get some insight into what's going on in the "other" side. Interesting perspectives-great class.

Too easy. If you want an easy A this is the class for you. If you want to learn sociological theory and history, take another class. I couldnt summon the will to care about this class- i never touched the book, i missed the final- and still got an A. But you do have to show up for class, which is one of the hardest things I've ever done. BORING

Take this class, and you will learn much from a great man. His jokes will keep you laughing and you will never have one homework assignment. You will have tests, and you can redo those tests by writing essays on his lecture. Very brilliant man!

This class is easy. There are only scantron tests and quizzes. He grades super easy. He lets you write essays for extra credit too.

Gave me a B even though I deserved a D. May be a bit offensive but just sit there and smile and you'll be fine.

Very smart, very funny. An all around cool guy. He and Adelson are the best teachers at mesa, and I even prefer Ryno's class by comparison. He's not professional at all though. He was weeks late turning in his grades, and I suspect he half-assed them at the last minute, since I got a B when the cumulative sum of all my scores easily equaled an A.

RYNO if u read this u have a fan club just so u know. and dont worry about debunking this comment. it's all pretty straight forward from here. take this class if you want to be able to use big words like "epistemology" AND actually learn something!!!

Funny teacher, he teaches with the student in mind. His method of teaching makes the material easy to understand and retain. Not for anyone who is offended by swearing or dodges 'politically correct' issues such as sexism/racism.

Doesn't seem to be as lively or funny in 201 as in 101. I learned more about Spain and Latin America in his class than anything else. Papers are difficult but do-able and he grades fairly easy.

Ryno is an awesome teacher!

Ryno is far and away the best teacher at Mesa. Sure he hands out A's alot, but not because he's easy. Grades are conformity, he cares about conveying the right message to students more. I had him for 101 + 201. 201 was a bit harder, but most classes deteriorate into the entire class discussing subjects. He is brilliant,and it shows. Simply Awesome.

smart man, and even funnier. hilarious but gets the point across. memorable moments in the class. dont forget to mark your scantrons with big fat cigars! good class, id take him again.

pretty interesting and intelligent prof - gives ops for extra credit - also gives exams and tests separate for book reading and lectures - makes for more smaller tests - you will delfinitely get a lot out of his class as he has great stories and insight into things we all think about and experience, but can't put our fingers on or put into words!;)

Makes class interesting, fairly un-organised(lecture based class), can get off topic, so be sure to ask specific questions. Is a push over, work load is not very demanding (2 hours a week/reading), you can write a take home essay to make up for a test. Only 4 tests. The book quizzes can be found online from the book website. Average grade B-C.

Funny guy, great stories. We had like 5 quizzes on his lectures (which are really interesting, but sometimes hard to understand-bring a tape recorder and write down EVERYTHING he says!), and then 4 tests on the book (which you read on your own and are VERY boring). Extracredit is available but its difficult. Overall nice& enjoyable class,I got a B!

I don't know what some people are talking about, I loved the class. He is an awesome professor, and a really chill guy who is always there to help. Take him if you want to stimulate your mind, stay awake in class, and laugh constantly. Work-wise, his lectures are key to acing the tests. Multiple choice. He offers Extra credit. Take him!

Ryno is a great professor. He got me interested in sociology, a class i thought i would never be interested in. Book quiz are easy but the lecture tests are very detailed down to every word he says in class. Don't fret if you bomb a test though. Just write a good essay. hes a marxist. great ideas but i dont like how hes always right. if you dont think what he does your wrong basically. his test are worded harder then how it should be. if your absolutly smart you will get an a. office hours suck!! 7-8 in the morning and thats it!

He goes off on random tangents. His lectures are pictures on the board which are impossible to study! His tests have stuff on them which you never talk about, i failed all of them. the only good thing is the essays you can write to replace your test grade. I learned absolutley NOTHING! His lectures are all stories of him and his life! Bad teacher!!

Very good in giving examples in lectures and is very hilarious!!! The exams are very easy and strongly relates to the lectures and textbook.

great class. makes you think a lot about the world. only take this class if you can stand being offended, because you will, especially if you are religious. ryno plays devils advocate often and very well. NO honors contracts. go to class, pay attention, do xc essays if needed, and you will get an A no problem. counts 85% and up as an A =) enjoy!

coolest teacher i've ever had

Ron ryno is the smartest man ive ever met. Some say that he may be the anti christ. Hes an awesome teacher. I hate school and would ditch alot of my classes but I never missed one of his classes. Hes the most normal teacher I've ever had. Hes on the students side.

Ron is the man! He's very down to earth and acts like a fellow student. His lectures are classic! If you do bad on the test you can write an essay (page and a half) to makeup for it. Quizzes are cakesauce. But overall he is brilliant.

Ryno is an upstanding man. I had a special problem and he couldn't have been more helpful. Office hours are 7am, painful, but he'll make sure to advise you for taking the effort to get there. Lectures can be diverse, everything needed for the papers is in the book, and he'll let you know what to focus on. Challenging. Changed My Point of View. :)

Ahhh.. Dr. Ryno. Took his class in 1998, still remember vividly. He tells you straight up the first week, he may be debunking religion, etc. Be prepared..if it's too hot get out of the kitchen. Talked to him at Rite Aid while shopping a few years later..still a cool guy. Doesn't make everything super easy, but getting an A or B is fairly easy.

Ryno's lectures were always funny and interesting, yet they often seemed un-cordinated with his tests. Have to do book tests and lecture tests. Great guy, great class, just pay attention during lectures and you should do well.

Very funny class, however if you are very conservative you will feel very uncomfertable. Make sure to take advantage of the essays if you do not do good on the test. There are a lot of tests.

jokes a lot, i didn't find most of them funny though. i thought the class was very boring you can always write essays to replace your lecture quiz scores so no worries. just make sure you do good on your book tests then! he wants to make sure u gets a good grade in the end

Although his lectures are easy to follow, jotting down notes is a totally different story! He likes to repeat the same points many times, so it's almost impossible NOT to understand the material, BUT I always had to reorganize my notes. One quiz dropped. Final not cumulative. Easy A if you take the time to look over the material before class.

He is helpful/refreshing in dealing w DSPS Accomodations. Though, his lectures are very tangetial: take good notes. Advise: Tape record lectures to review at later time, its helpful in understanding/note taking. He allows the class to write essays for every Exam(Lecture) & allows to drop 1 lowest Quiz(Text)grade. He wants students to succeed!

Freaking awesome! Just follow the essay questions when writing your papers and LOVE that textbook. Even though he doesn't take attendance, he's entertaining enough that I didn't want to miss class. Tough material, but take good notes and read the book and you'll get an A. It is a lot of writing, so be warned.

His class is really easy & he tries to make his lectures entertaining.Quizzes are based on the book, but the tests are based solely on the lectures. He does repeat himself a lot so you don't have to go to every class. If you go on Mon & take good notes, you likely don't have to show up again til next Wed. He wants you to succeed & is helpful.

Ryno is hilarious. He's really clear in his teaching because he covers one topic for a whole day, then reviews the same topic the next day before moving on. YOu can also ask him questions any time your confused and he's very helpful. he gives you study guides before each test. And you can write essays for extra credit. Highly recommended!

Ryno is a great and entertaining teacer. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you show up for every class he gives you a couple extra credit points at the end of the semester. If you read the book, quizzes are easy. Tests are based on lectures, so TAKE GOOD NOTES. essays can make up quiz scores so take advantage of those. Overall AWESOME teacher.

Ryno is an excellent professor! He is hilarious in lecture, lenient with due dates, approachable, knowledgeable, & just a nice guy overall. 5 exams, helpful study guides, & if you don't do well on an exam, you have the option to write an essay and receive up to a "B" grade in place of it.

He's such a cool guy! If you attend class and read, you'll be fine. It is 5 lecture exams and 5 quizzes based on the book. Sometimes he lets you use notes and if you write an essay it replaces your test score. Take him! He is a blast :)

Mr Funny! Ryno is all around super! everyone keeps saying engine but what I think they don't understand is that everytime he introduces a concept of sociology, he immediately follows with examples his own personal real life, so you can tie them together.

So funny! Rants about his own experiences but they are funny & helpful bc he connects them back to the material. Wants everyone to pass! If you show up on test day not feeling confident will let you take it another day. If you get a bad test score you can make it up with an essay. Go to his office hrs for help, he is really helpful. Very nice!!
