He is a cool professor, except that he doesnt let you use notes on the exams, and his class can get a bit confusing at times, but all in all he isnt too bad! sometimes he tends to rush the lectures, so you have to keep up, but he is really helpful!

Great Prof. would let you retake test if you failed. do the homework in the book and you will pass the class. cares if you learn the subject he wants all his students to pass. you can get points on your tests if you turn in your homework afterwards.

I took him for both Trig and Calc III (sorry forgot the class numbers). He is the best Math teacher at Mesa. Even at UCSD, I found myself comparing all my Math professors to him, sadly, most fell far short. Take Sandvick, you won't regret it.

This teacher is my favorite that I took at Mesa. It is so rare to get a really great Math teacher and he is! His strategy for teaching is fair and you will learn the material. As long as you try, you will succeed in this class! He is incredibly nice!

Sandvick really knows his stuff and is a good guy. However, he totally caters to the VERY LOWEST common denominator and it consequently brings down the entire class. Thanks to a select few individuals, we probably didn't get through half the material we should have. Oh well, live and learn.

Can you say THE BEST MATH TEACHER? They should clone this guy. Always happy and always willing to help. Daily quizzes, but not even really a quiz. Gives pre tests which you do as a class and is exactly as the tests. Brings in his guitar from time to time. The class is a real party.

GREAT TEACHER!! He is very thorough when explaining how to workout problems. Makes class time fun. There is a quiz almost every day but the quiz is just to help you understand how to workout the problem. Test are not difficult and besides, he always grades on a curve.

I took Sandvick for back to back 8 week classes and he made it seem like we had all the time in the world. He is a great teacher and is ambitious when it comes to teaching. Great sense of humor and makes class a blast! I would highly recommend him if you either love or hate math. Plays the guitar once in a while too. Take him, you won't regret it!!

I had him for 95 and 96. Ok, Now it's time for Stats this fall and he's not teaching it. Dammit, he is the BEST! Come on mr. Sandvick, teach stats for fall. Hurry! You're the only cool math teacher! He is the greatest teacher ever! I haven't taken any math for over 3 years and I had to take Math 122 this summer... It was extremely hard, but he helped me almost every day and made the material much easier to comprehend. I would recommend an 8 week course, but he's the greatest teacher ever and he'll help you so much!

I have always been math phobic and never quite comfortable with any math. He broke the cycle of fear and one day the light came on because he has such a clear, easy, concise teaching method. He was always helpful and happy. He made it EASY!!!!!!!!!

he's GREAT! take it if u r struggling or if you're not. funny, lighthearted, easygoing. gives take home pretests that save you! teaches outside of book but homework given, not collected at all unless you fail a test. such a passion for teaching. he just wants you to do well and you really can ask dumb questions and he'll go over it with you.

Ron rocks! Homework isn't collected and he gives a pretest with the answers! His teaching method works very well and his jokes are so lame that they become really funny. I did homework for the first test and got an A. I never cracked the book again, and pulled a B in the class. Just make sure you are there to learn from the quiz and you will pass!

Truely a wonderful teacher and the best I've ever had. I don't like math, and I'm terrible at it, but through his help, I pulled a B! He loves to teach and believes in his students ability to get a good great. He helped me with problems through a full class. He tries to make math fun with games and tricks. Very easy professor. Never did any homework at all didnt even need the text book so if you want to save some money. Just attend class, and fully understand the pre-test because it is exactly like the test and you should get an A+++.

he is a very cool guy, group quiz. homework is extra credit. he gives out pre test before test, yet they are not the same as the test. its harder. his lecture are really fast, so u need to make sure u understand the material or else it will bit u in the butt cause it will be on the final. drops one test.

I took Sandvick for 116 & 121, 8 week course. Great Prof! Very fun and down to earth. He's definitly a free-sprit! Math isn't my strong point but somehow I enjoyed math while actually learning the material(I don't know how Sandvick does it). I've even considered taking Calc. 122.

"Quizzes" (EZ, EZ, EZ!) everyday - his way of ensuring attendance, I guess. Pretest before each test, pretty much guarantees you'll pass. Homework is extra credit. Lectures are crystal clear. Homework is extra credit if you get below an 80 on an exam. And he gives pretests for his exams. On top of all that, he's fun and enthusiastic about mathematics. Highly recommended.

I took him for Calculus and noticed that all his classes have the same layout. Quiz every day but, it's group work. Hands out a pre-test and a pre-final each time & works out the problems on the board. He's very nice and the class is very manageable. Don't miss class because all those 4-5 point quizzes add up. You do not need a textbook!

Mr. Sandvick is very nice & helpful but, his 8 week Calculus class goes way too fast. I guess it has to because of the time constraints. Other than this, he' s very helpful & the book is optional .Sometimes the book will only confuse you more. HW is extra credit if you get less than a "B", quiz everday, pretest for every test and prefinal as well.

He is an awesome teacher. This was my second math class in twenty years and he made fun and easy. I found that having the solutions manual was extremely helpful when I was having trouble with a concept. He drops your lowest test score and the homework is extra credit if your grade is below 80%.

Very Fun Teacher. My fault for my grade but he was very helpful and made the class fun. One day he played guitar for us(sang a song about math) He also had a wig and was wearing a dress(Just for fun, Halloween event at mesa), Great Guy Make sure you take him!

Clear, precise instructions. Right handed, (so sit to the right) He goes fast, so pay attention and sit with smart people. If you do these things along with homework you WILL BE IMPRESSED ;) I took the 8 week and I wont go back to regular session math. I want to give him a bad grade so you don't take my registry position. He's that good.

Professor Sandvick did both MATH 116 and 121 in the same semester and it was definetly worth it. There are quzzes daily that can be done in groups. HW is extra credit. exams are similar to pre-tests. Very helpful and very easy to understand.

Ron taught Math 118 in the Spring '11. Although he usually teaches higher level math, he was very good at instructing students that are not traditionally math oriented. This was an interesting class and Ron made it even better.

Take this teacher! He is one of the best math teachers at Mesa by far. I took him for Math 46 and he genuinely cares about his students. He had his son come in and make us blueberry pancakes and breakfast on the last day of school. I took P Sandvick for 104, 116, 121, and 122. He is, far and away, the best professor at Mesa and the best in California. Makes Calculus seem easy. Cares about you and your learning. Just ROCKS it!

Wonderful professor! Always happy and he can make anyone smile - not an easy feat for a Calculus class! Great teaching style, study guides for tests, and daily quizzes that you do together in groups. On tests, he would give me a lot of credit for showing my work even if I didn't get the correct answer. He wants you to do well! Take him.

If you are not a strong math student, take his class! Math 118 was a blast. Relatively easy but we learned a lot and it gave us confidence as math students. He is willing to help all and gives you plenty of chances to succeed. He is a fun professor and you won't regret the class.

He is a very positive, happy professor. Although it helps that I like math, taking Calculus in 8 weeks seemed like it'd be nerve-wracking, but the fast-paced didn't give you much chance to forget. You'll take a quiz everyday, that is part of your grade, but you can work on it with other students and he is always happy to help. Take his class!

Group Quiz every class, but its easy and he makes sure everyone knows what they are doing and you can do it with your peers. Very clear and good at teaching, nice. Gives a "pretests" that is very similar to actual tests that really helps. Uses MathXL which can be a lot of homework, but if you do it, he adds extra credit. Easy A class if you show up

The guy is a wizard in the math realm! He really does ensure that everyone can interpret and understand the material. Perfect class for those of us that need to learn math, but don't want to learn it. I passed with an A!

I was afraid going into this class because it was an 8 week course, and math is not my favorite. But Sandvick made this class so enjoyable and I learned so much. He's extremely helpful and he always makes sure everyone understands the subject before moving on. He is definitely a Math wizard!

Sandvick is a great person and amazing teacher! On Fridays he will play his guitar and seranate the whole class. There will be online homework (extra credit), in-class group quizzes, and pre-tests which are extremely helpful and similar to the tests. His notes are clear and precise and he will teach you short cuts. HIGHLY recommended! Enjoy!

I was afraid of math since it was not my cup of tea. Now I am smart at math in logical way (: Mr. Sandvick makes math so easy. He gives us pre-test that will be similar to the real test!!! Also he gives extra-credit on homework and bonus on test. Of course, group test for only final test. Oh he does play guitar in math songs! really funny!

One of my top 5 professors out of the 50 something credits I have at Mesa. i hate math but he opened my eyes to Math XL (or whatever the online program is called) and he made math so much easier to understand. He even dressed as a woman for halloween.,it was hilarious and showed he didn't take himself too serious

Ron was the best teacher I had ever had. I took his Java class (math 117 probably, cannot recall)back in spring of 2003 and completed it with flying colors. He's an amazing teacher! Very quick paced class and small deductions make a huge difference in grade. Tests are similar to pretests. Quizzes everyday but are very helpful. Not much lecture notes but the online HW helps! definitely recommend!

Amazing professor! Always upbeat and willing to help you succeed. There are quizzes every day but you do them through out the lecture and you can work on them with the people around you. Exams are very similar to the pre-test. All HW is online and very helpful. The material itself can be difficult but I think he is very good at teaching it!

Tests are just like the practice tests given before. If you don't go to his classes you will fall behind. The 8wk class is awesome so take it and get it over with. You only have to do 60% online hw, and if you do the rest, it's e.c. He is a really nice guy and will sing to the class a lot. He will help you out if you need it, you just have to talk!

Mr. Sandvick is awesome! I took Math 118. It's a super easy class. Everyday you learn something new and then he gives you a 2 to 3 question quiz on it. But if you need help he will give it to you and he encourages everybody to check with the people next to them to make sure you all have the same answers on the quiz. Make sure to be there for review

Sandvick is pure positive energy in a class (Calculus) where it's easy to fall asleep, fail or both. He starts each lecture by explaining what you will be learning, how it is applied and then immediately test your ability to replicate the work with quizzes. He allows you to work with others to master the material, and his pretests are a godsend.

HA! This class was a joke. He made everything so easy, a 10 year old could pass this class no problem. I just showed up and i got 102% on every test and ended with 104% in the class. He is so nice and relaxed. He brings his guitar and plays songs he wrote to the class. He will go out of his way to make math easy and fun. Take Math 118 if you can!

Professor Ron Sandvick really makes math fun! He's usually always has a smile on his face and if class is going great he will play you a song on his guitar. Great professor, my friend recommended me to his class and I am super happy, as I really enjoyed the course. He's a MUST TAKE for any math level.

He's a great instructor and you must study to get a good grace. Most of his classes are accelerated or short-term classes; therefore, this may not be the class for you, if you're not good at math. He was very nice and always willing to help.

Really easy class. You have a test about once every two weeks. Daily quizzes, where you can get help from your classmates. Always in a good mood. Sometimes he'll bring in his guitar and play a song about Math!

Best class at Mesa. Does not take attendance, only 60% of HW needs to be completed anything else is E.C. Study guides for every test extremely similar to actual test. Daily group quizzes. Lowest testquiz dropped. You would almost have to purposely fail everything not to pass. Very nice professor. Good for easy general ed but maybe not math majors.

I absolutely love this professor. I did not like him at first because he was so happy for nothing. Now, I am happy for nothing too ! He is very very helpful. He is soo sweet. :) I like him. Drops one exam. Quizzes every day but in GPS. He is always there!! No missing classes. He is helpful and very knowledgeable. His exams are difficult if you don't understand. Even when he gives a pretest, some students fail because they did not understand the concept. Math at this level is absolutely conceptual:)

Sandvick is such a great professor! He teaches you in a way that makes complete sense. The downside was that the class was 8 weeks so everything was pretty much crammed. If you have questions he's always wiling to help. He also brings his guitar to class sometimes and sings a song about math which I thought was pretty entertaining. Take him!!

By far one of the best teachers at mesa. Extremely nice, supportive and motivational, and very straightforward class. Very helpful and gives pretests so there are no surprises on the exam. He genuinely wants you to succeed and be happy. He radiates positivity and makes math fun. Take his class you will be glad you did!

one of the best professor in mesa college, he is really good explaining, if you do not understand the material he is willing to stay after class and explain it. take it if you have the chance. lastly, sometimes he plays the guitar in class

He is an OK lecturer. What makes his class cool and different is that he explains things, then you and your group work out a similar problem. That is what every class consist of and you turn in this "quiz" at the end of class. Uses a major curve so you really have to try to fail. He held an optional study group every weekend for our class.

Prof Sandvick is AMAZING! He explains everything and sings at the end of every test lol. During class we went over the material and had a mini quiz after every new thing he taught us, nothing crazy, you could talk and try to figure it out with other people. He really helps a lot and grading is clear, just do the online homework.

He is a great guy that doesn't give a lot of work that you need to stress about. But be sure to come to class because he gives out quizzes everyday that is part of grade. Gives out a study guide of what you will be tested on the exam.

I had him for Math 104 trig in fall 2016, and he's a real gem, pretty much all I have to say! Class is straightforward, and stress-free. Only have to do 60% of the online homework to get full credit and the practice tests are direct giveaways to actual exams. Just a very chill person, take him if you can!

His lectures were understandable, which were helpful. He also drops the lower score in one test and quiz. Make sure to pay attention to the material he presents throughout class. Take efficient notes, because problems he does during class are similar to the questions in the exams. Other than that, he's a cool guy that likes to run and play guitar.

A serious gentleman when it comes to teaching math. I just completed Math 122 with him and while the material is challenging I managed to master it. Math can be pretty interesting once you get the hang of it and Professor Sandvick is your ally.

I was really worried about taking this class since I am not a math person and it was a summer class but he makes it easy for you to do well! He gives you a pretest that is a lot like the exam so there are no surprises. If you are not a math person take him because he makes it fun!

Quiz everyday that you can basically do as a whole class, I liked how he structures his class, pre tests are given that are pretty helpful- basically a mini version of the test, but i can tell he isnt able to get through to a lot of students. He almost teaches as if we all already know the material and will rarely dumb it down when needed.

Prof Sandvick is great if you're decent at math, if you're really struggling you might wanna look elsewhere. super easy grader, only 60% of HW is required the rest is EC, you can opt out of the final if your cool with your grade, quizzes everyday that are done together so you always get 100%. He does skip basic algebra steps that you should know.

Very easy grader compared to any other calc prof. He gives out practice tests that are EXACTLY like the actual test except with different numbers. Quiz everyday, but they're all easy A's.. he will help you on the quiz! Just ask!! TONS of EC opportunities and his class averages are usually above 85%. Just do your part as a student to get an A.

"Quizzes" in class daily but more like class work with fellow classmates that was done to show comprehension. The class is weighted not well, in your favor, since hw points aren't enough to really change your grade. Idk what is with the negative reviews I felt I learned what was taught from his lectures. I LOVE THIS MAN! I took him for calc 121 during intersession and he was great! Ive never been good at math and was really skeptical about taking calc in a 3.5 week course but he was so good I ended up having a lot of fun learning the material and really enjoyed doing the homework. He is patient with helping you and he's very funny.

This professor was the best. The material was very difficult, but the professor did everything he could for you to get an A. If you do not get an A, it's because you didn't put in the time.

I am a chiropractor and medical doctor. Ronald Sandvick is the best professor I have ever had. I just got A's in Algebra, Applied Calculus 1 and 2. Year 2019. If you want to learn Math, he is the man.

Ronnie Love, as is he is known in the music world, is a great professor. I took Math for the liberal arts student with him and truly enjoyed every class meeting. If you are not a science or math major, and are going to transfer to a CSU, take this class! There's a feildtrip and a movie day with popcorn too! He's nice and laid back. Take his class!

Professor Sandvick is really laid back but he's a good professor. He's always making jokes and he once even brought his guitar and sang us a song after out first test. He does assign a lot of homework but it's not all due until the last day of the semester! we also had a movie day with popcorn and we went on a field trip and painted ceramics! 10/10

I took his fast track course and found it enlightening. He makes his course of action very clear from the first week and keeps with the trending pattern. Personally the 116 class was a good pace to learn, but now realizing I didn't retain the 121 section of the class as much as I should've. If you're dedicated to the process its perfect.

He is such a wonderful teacher. Math itself requires tons of work, however, he guides you with a step by step process how to solve problems.

Took him this semester for MATH 104 Trigonometry. Great professor, really nice. He really does cares about his students. You can email him for any problems you are having and he is available during office hours. Show up to class do the work, study and you would do great on the tests. He also records all of his lectures.

Prof Sandvick is a great math instructor. I do poorly in math usually, but his Stats for Lib Arts students is straightforward, graded fairly, and interesting enough. Homework is done on own, and all due at the end of the semester, so my advice: don't get behind and do the HW as the class continues, otherwise you'll struggle to finish it.

I got to experience his class during the first transition to online at the beginning of the Pandemic. His class is very enjoyable. As long as you attend his class you will pass. He explains very well and isn't intimidating to ask for help. Each lesson you will have a quiz but he basically gives you the answer. The final exam is optional!

GIVE THIS MAN A 5.0! The most understanding, patient and helpful ever. It is your typical calc class which requires work but he does not care about the right answer! If you showed effort in trying/did the steps accordingly, you gon get it right. He offers extra credit & will help you with it as well. Overall, take it & you'll love calc!

first, I was to be angry at him because for his writing skills that the work is supposed to be in his way he doesn't not another way he wants to solve but as a professor 10/10 he is a good explainer, understanding his lecture and he likes to socialize with his students but his exam is harder than other classes, for math 116 and 121 I recommend him.

If you need to take calculus, TAKE HIM! He is the bet professor i've had in college hands down. Math is not my strong suit but i needed math 122 for my major and this professor does everything he can to help you succeed. He is accomodating, understanding and explains anything you aren't getting. TAKE him!! He is so kind and a great Professor.

A really caring and helpful professor! You'll do daily quizzes in class, he posts the recordings so you can catch up, only 70% of the homework is required, the pretests are super helpful for the tests, and most importantly, he really teaches the math well. He welcomed questions and would explain the concept in different ways to help you understand.

HE TRULY CARES!! Had him before COVID and I had to write this down. He is perhaps the most caring Math professor I've ever had. He truly wants his students to learn and is very forgiving about you if you try to meet him halfway. I was never good at math and so when I saw that through my hard work I was able to pass, I almost teared up with joy.

Prof. Sandvick is really good at explaining the math if you get stuck on something! He does not take role in class but instead asks that you turn in a questions slip at the end of every lecture for attendance. Grades are not affected by the homework as much as I expected, but it is still vital for really learning the math and passing the tests..!

I was so intimidated by calculus that I put off becoming a STEM major for years... while it is still calculus, and it is accelerated in pace, he made it very manageable, was always accessible and lives by "there's no such thing as a dumb question." I took his online zoom class (M-TH) and they were easy to keep up with. Most of your grade comes from the homework/"quizzes" and tests are based on the work you show rather than the answer alone which I like about math teachers. He records his lectures as long as you remind him. If you pass the first 3 exams, you don't have to take the final :)

Best teacher for math!! Prof. Sandvick removes all of the stress that comes with math class and presents his lectures in a very digestible manner! Lessons will build on one another which creates a very easy transition as the class continues! He will answer all of your questions and truly cares about the well being of his students!

Took this Professor in Spring 2024. A quiz every class meeting but do not be afraid. He helps with the quizzes and honestly if you pay attention during the lecture and take notes it will help you so much. There was 5 exams and you are allowed a small post card of notes. study well and do the homework and this class will be a breeze.

He guides this class like it is math and meditation. He encourages mindfulness in learning and allows students to take their time to understand the material. I am grateful that I took his class online because I needed to re-watch the lectures A LOT, but I was able to grasp the material in the end due to his stellar teaching style.

If you only need an easy math credit, just take his class. There's barely any algebra and his daily "quizzes" you get to do as a class. His tests aren't too bad and homework is due at the end of the semester so no pressure on hw. He could ramble a bit but generally easygoing

Great professor, I am not a math person but the way he taught liberal arts math was very easy and understanding. Would recommend for people who don't like math. Best memory of this class would be him singing to our class, great singer!
