very rude, plays favorites, and can't spell simple words. horrible professor!
decent prof for lower level classes but avoid for higher level classes
Tests often seem to be on something different than what was taught in class.
class was not hard and i felt like i understood it, did relly well on the quizzes and then the tests would come and they were not relevant to what we learned in class!
Dr. See's quizzes are easy, but his tests are a killer!!!
his class is easy and he explains things well...heck of a nice guy too

Best I have had at IUP
Tests can be difficult, but overall a nice guy. He is very willing to help you out. His homework is optional, and he allows the use of a notecard on his tests. If you go to class, he should be a breeze.
A good teacher with an easy grading scale. His tests are tough but he explains everything that will be on them and lets you have a notecard. Chem was tough for me in highschool but he made it easier

he tries to make his class as easy as he can. his class is boring but it is easy.
It was a very boring class, but I did learn alot. The test were test but you can drop one test grade. He can't spell easy words, which drove the class crazy..
He is not a helpful guy. Doesn't explain things well. And his tests are hard as hell...I got an "F!"
If Dr. See would give tests over what he teaches in class, some of the non-chem majors might have a chance at a grade that wouldn't destroy their QPA. Avoid this prof unless you are a Chem major.
He is the best chem professor that I've had so far at IUP. I am not a chem major and the exams weren't impossible for me. A lot of people had problems - but chem is a hard subject. He also gave a 30 point bonus at the end of the semester.
Dr. See is the easiest chem teacher @ Iup but he can't spell very well and he choses favorites.
Dr. See is an exceptional professor. If you take advantage of the fact that you can use an index card of notes of the exams, they are not that hard. You can use a full sheet of paper for the final. He is also willing ot bend over backwards to help.
He's a bit goofy, but the best prof I've had at IUP. He is very clear and involved with students. He keeps class interesting. He is what all educators should be.
Typical prof. He writes notes, and gives challenging/tough exams. Rarely in office, and could care less if you got an "A" or an "F". He'll get his paycheck either way. Has a wardrobe of 4 shirts.
I think he likes to see how bad of a grade he can give ppl. His class is strictly notes and he doesnt ever go over anything he assigns for homework. Boring and very unhelpful. Dont take him.
Wow what can I say. lick his behind, you pass. Try to learn the material, you never know! If you don't want to lean anything, he is your man!
His class tends to be boring because it is all lecture and note taking, no discussions. Difficult if you don't stay on task or get confused but easy if you come to class and use the notecard for the tests. You have to be an active learner, go to class.
My cat knows more about chem than he does. He thinks he's the best thing that ever happened to chemistry. WRONG. Plays favorites. You'll do well if you kiss his @$$. Arrogant. Laziest prof. ever. He's more worried about playing golf. Needs fired!!
If I had no desire to learn anything about chemistry, he would have been great! I don't think he could teach roadkill to play dead. Unwilling to help. RUDE! Don't get too close to him, he doesn't own a toothbrush!
Could someone show him where his office is since he's never there? Act like you're impressed with him and kiss his butt and you'll do fine. You won't learn a damn thing, but you'll do fine. Take Dr. Lake if you can. I can't believe someone married h
dry, dry, dry lectures. I had to put hot sauce into my eyes to stay awake. He is the most important person in his life, don't forget it and if you only expect that, you won't be disappointed. If you'll want help, TAKE SOMEONE ELSE OR FAIL!
Childbirth with no painkillers was easier than sitting through his class. A shining example of what is wrong with the chem dept. It's not what you know, it's who's @$$ you kiss. Worst prof. I ever had. Knowledge: zero!
i just didn't like his teaching style. i don't think he could care less if we passed or not. definately here for the paycheck and because he wouldn't make it as a chemist.
Awful...He could read off of his notes and write them on the board but he couldnt teach. Hard tests and no quizes. He never give you a chance to bring up your grade and with him you'll need it.
Chemistry is definitly hard, but he tries to give u as many opportunites to do well. Do the homework it helps with the tests and go to class u can't miss it or u will be lost good chem prof.
I don't see why everyone is leaving such bad remarks about Dr. See... he's a little odd but I learned a lot in his class. If you can read and use a calculator, there is no reason you should get less than a B in his class... the grading scale is awesome but the tests are a little hard.
Lecture is boring, all notes. Read the book and do the chapter questions and you should do well.
If you like a teacher that erases the chalkboard well take this professor. He rarley misses spots and makes sure he goes over lightly erased material more than once. Clean boards help me concentrate more.
You know what, I hated this class when I took it, but I realized by CHEM112 that I just hate chemistry, and now I miss Dr. See :( I wish I could have him again for 112. Very clear lectures, fair tests, but they're difficult. The grading scale helps, also offered a 30 pt. bonus paper when I had him!
Boring. Most of the class time is spent watching him erase the board. Tests are HARD. Only 1 A in our class! Unorganized in lab, but really nice guy. He just doesn't want to be here. I think the guy is beyond intelligent but wants to do as little work as possible. Typical of half of IUP chem dept!
Dr. See is a very good chemistry prof. He understands not everyone is a chem major and that it's not an easy subject but he does his best to make it as easy as possible. Everything that you need for tests he puts on the board for notes which are very organized. If you study, do the homework, and go to class you should get no lower than a B.
i dont no what ur all talkin about!! DR. SEE IS AWESOME! chemistry is gonna be hard but dr. see is so nice & makes it as easy as possible! gives extra credit paper if needed - notes layed out very well! lets you use a notecard for tests & u write nething u want on it! what more could you ask for! an A is easily attainable if you put in some effort!
He is such a rude person. He wont even give you chances. he will be straight forward and tell you to drop his class and if you mess up in lab or have a question he will look at you like your an idiot and shake his head
EASIEST lab teacher ever! at 1st i had another prof who made u write up big intros & conclusions & answer tons of questions for each lab -switched to Dr. See. he makes u write 1 sentence for an intro have the data charts & do 1 question on labs. tests r EASY 5 pointers. doesnt make u take the lab final n if u take it n do bad he doesnt count it!
Hard as can be..does review though before tests..lets you use a notecard on exams..need to read and do homework..most of my class is failing!
Oh man, DON'T take this prof if you don't have an extreme understanding of Chem. He is arrogent out side of class when asking for help, though upbeat in class. Prepare yourself for hard tests based right off of lecture, so while NOT required to go, its needed.
I had him for LAB. He was nice in class, when asking for help during office hrs, he made me feel so stupid, agree kinda arrogant. But overall a cool guy. If you want to get on his good side, talk about rugby, he used to play. He changes all the report ?'s from the book, never got a 10 on report or quiz, didn't have to take final, still got an A!
His tests are really hard, but he will help you during office hours if needed. His notes are outlined and he gives a lot of examples. Also offered 35 points of extra credit to my class. Take him instead of Kondo!
Easiest chem class ever. It's like high school chem for the first month or two, then you have to learn some simple stuff like calorimetery and you're set. I never did like the book (Chang is lame) but the notes are fine. I don't think he liked me since I fell asleep in class, but he didn't fail me for it. He's a breeze, and enthusiastic!
Ok,yes I got a low grade in his class, but the problem I really had was that when I went to seek him for help out side of class, he was very belittling to me when I was asking him about something I didn't understand in class. He DOES seem to know what he's talking about, but I think you need a good foot in chemistry to survive his class.
Dr. See is amazing. His notes are all outlined, and he is always willing to help. He is very kind in his office hours (at least to me). Exams are KILLER. I recommend at least a year of chemistry before taking him, but if you get the chance, he will change how you feel about chemistry =D Very passionate about his profession.
Not a bad lab prof. Loved when he would cut out sections that we wouldn't have to do for the lab. Gives an easy 5 pt. quiz each week. Says he's always willing to help, but gets frustrated when you don't understand. His labs are worth 10 pts and he takes off one whole point for a minor mistake that shouldn't be worth 1/10th of that lab. No final :.)
Good teacher, very clear and very helpful. Do the home work assignments and the tests will be easy.
Dr. See tries really hard to help you understand the material and lets you know how he can help you understand it better. You will need to do the homework to do well on the quizzes. There is a quiz about every thursday. There is a midterm (ch. 1-5) and a final (ch. 6-10.) Just study and you will pass.
Good prof! had outlined notes that were easy to understand and easy to study from. You need to do the homework to pass the quizes given about once a week but the homework load isnt a lot. Does what he can to help and make you understand the material. I rushed to get him again next semester!
Had for CHEM 101 lab. Easy. Do your prelabs quizzes come from them. Took 45 min not 2 hours. Get safety glasses and calculator
Doesn't know enough chemistry to teach senior chemistry. Would be super easy for intro classes, but shouldn't teach beyond that. Nice guy, but gets stuff as easy as point groups wrong.
Have for lab, avoid if possible. He grades the lab and quizzes in arbitrary manner. Even if you feel you did a good lab report, he will ALWAYS able to find some mistake on lab and take 3 points (lab out of 10 pt each) from your grade. Avoid!
Good, fair, nice professor. Very fair in his grading, and gives well outlined notes to use. Gives a quiz once a week or every two on book work from lectured material. Has only midterm and final. Do the homework, study for understanding and go to him if you you are having trouble. Do all that, and you'll do just fine
Very nice professor; fair in his grading, and gives well outlined notes to use. Gives a quiz once a week on book work from lectured material. Has only midterm and final. Do the homework, study for understanding and go to him if you are having trouble. Do all that, and you'll do just fine
I had Dr. See for Chem 111 Lab, and it was super easy. He is a nice guy, but comes off a little cocky when you ask a question. I had to do all the labs by myself because my partner was useless. I recommend taking him for lab! I ended up finishing with a B.
pretty much expects you to already know everything about chemistry and hes simply just going over it. isnt helpful with equations
Avoid at all costs if you dont understand chem that well. He isnt much help. He doesnt care about students or helping them learn. he even said to us that it was a 'weed out' course and said that the people who withdrew from it were stupid for taking it in the first place. you have to teach yourself the material. he just isn;t a good teacher.
I had him for Lab and it was the best decision I ever made. He tells us what is useless and he's extremely straight forward. He can come off a little snarky but he's easy and the pre labs are pretty easy too. I'm taking him again next semester for 112.
Lectures are very clear, teaches well with many examples. he will always give you help when you need it. part of your tests are the homeworks you get for each chapter. he tells you how it is. attendance is not mandatory but you wont pass if you skip class.
Belittles students. Not recommended for those who have difficulty with chemistry. Does not explain equations thoroughly. Not consistent in his grading. I tried to visit him during office hours, and he answered every question I asked in a condescending tone.
Dr. See is a great educator. There is absolutely no B.S. in his lectures, everything he presents is useful. (except for some log scale he made about the value of diplomas, though I thought that was kinda cool anyhow...) Do not be afraid to work, and during office hours he's super helpful. Rather frank, so don't expect him to "beat around the bush"
Dr. See is a very interesting professor. He has a really great teaching style that outlines the notes perfectly for you. He messes up a lot when he's giving the notes, but it's really funny when he does. He likes to laugh at himself, and trust me, we like to laugh at him too! He was always there to answer your questions. Taking him for chem 112!
If you're not good at chemistry, don't consider taking him. He's a good teacher but you need to have good understanding before taking him. You won't ever get out of class early and missing class isn't a big deal if you know how to understand someone's notes. Quizzes every two weeks just about. Gives examples but he answers them. Kind of snarky.
Dr. See was great for lab. Each lab we had a 10 point quiz and lab reports are due each week. He likes to talk a lot at the beginning of class and can be a little confusing, but when preforming labs he was always willing to answer questions or check my work for accuracy.
The class is 50 minutes one day a week. Before spring break we talked about majors in the chem dept. Talked about careers that people would not usually think about. After break there were two professors that presented their research here at IUP. It was nice to hear about all the research that is happening and all the different projects.
A very hard class if you arent good at math, because most of the class is using equations. Lab seemed impossible sometimes. Dr. See is a good professor but he has a tendency to make it a big deal for not understanding something. Got help in office hours but I felt like all he did was refer me to my notes. Alright guy but really hard class.
this man had an attitude every time i asked him a question, if you dont have a good background with chem do not take him.
I took Dr. See for a three week summer session. I would recommend this over the full semester course. There was a lot of information in a three week period, but he broke it up into two exams that weren't cumulative and had quizzes and lab reports that helped boost your grades. On exams he also allowed an index card with formulas or notes.
Overall pretty good professor. If you study your notes you'll be good.
very rude advisor talking to a student like animals. IUP hired a monster he's the reason I'm leaving this school
Dr. See is an incredible prof! Very clear and is willing to explain something a thousand times just so a student will understand something. Very caring of his students. Would take again for sure!
He's extremely knowledgeable about chemistry, and has had years of practice so he's good at talking about it and answering questions. Also knows his way around a chalk board. Grades kinda hard. Only issue is he seems incapable of answering most questions without a condescending tone.
One of the worst professors Ive ever had. Does not post grades online. Gets his own answers wrong on the homework that he writes, so good luck learning from his examples. Makes the class way harder than a general chemistry course should be. Condescending when you ask for clarification on subject matter. No mercy.
Dr. See was an awesome lab professor! I had him for chem 111 and 112 labs, and I would take him any other time I get the chance! Lab reports are due each week, and they're graded exactly off of the outline given in the lab manual. He also gives quizzes each week before lab, but if you understand lab and lecture material you'll be perfectly fine
He isn't the worst at IUP, but do try to take someone else. He isn't very patient or respectful - if you are sensitive, your sanity will replenish under his instruction. Don't come to him for questions, instead go to the library for tutoring. While he knows what he is talking about, he doesn't know how to talk about it to students.
Dr. See is a pretty okay professor. His tests are challenging, especially the multiple choice portions. Lecture is has non-mandatory attendance. He writes his tests off of the homework at the end of each chapter of the book. He is a good lab professor, too except he kind of just sits there and doesn't try to help. Overall, pretty okay teacher.
His lectures are SO boring and he rants all the time about stupid things. If you ask him for help, he'll give you attitude and make you feel stupid. His exams were impossible and he put information on the exams he never talked about in lecture. I had him for lab, too, and never helped. You basically has to teach yourself so 10/10 do not recommend.
i had a horrible time in his class. he never explained the material or answered questions clearly. he is a nice guy but not a good teacher
I actually took CHEM 100, but that wasn't an option , this class was very easy for me, he's a good professor , takes his time to make sure that the class gets what he's teaching, homework doesn't count for a grade so we only get graded on our quizzes and tests, 10pt quiz every Friday , unless its an exam week , then he usually canceled the Friday
Overall a good teacher. He explained things at a pace and in a way I could understand. I feel like it was a good course to take for me, who had a very sub-par chemistry education in high school. However, he often made math mistakes in the homework or in class examples, which could get confusing. Grades are Friday quizzes, 3 exams and a final.
Dr. See is the best chem professor. His lectures are long and he does not post notes online so you should probably go to class. As long as you put in the effort you should get a good grade. I never once had a problem with him or the class.
A good professor overall, straight forward notes, but be prepared to sit through over an hour of straight lecture. Homework is not required to be completed, but gives you most information thats on quizzes and exams. Basically, if you don't slack off on homework and notes, attend class, and study well for quizzes and exams, its an easy A or B grade.
Dr. See is a nice professor; his class wasn't easy but he tries his best to help you. He has an adjusted grading scale so that a high B is actually an A and so on. His lectures are good but the homework is the most important. The homework isn't collected but all of the test material is based on hw practice or lecture material.
hes sassy gives so much attitude, doesnt care to help his students simply explains it and assumes you will just get it all the time. made negative comments about me asking him questions and embarrassed me during lab. wouldnt recommend. hate him boutta contact the dean because hes essentially worthless
I did not really have a problem with Dr. See this past semester. He had slight tone that may come of as rude but I think he was really just trying to get us to think about what we were doing. When I asked or emailed a question asking for help, he helped me either understand better or get to the answer. He did not grade our lab reports harsh either.
He is a good professor. Make sure to go to the lectures. There are quizzes, a midterm, final, and the lab as the grades. He means well, but it is a difficult class. Make sure to prepare for the quizzes and tests. He will help if you need it.
Honestly, do not take Dr. See. He isn't the most helpful and is extremely vague when giving help. Whenever he grades, he won't explain why you got it wrong and if he does then it still isn't very helpful. He changes things last minute with no explanation. He also doesn't stick to syllabus. It seems he expects you to have a bachelor in chemistry.
test are very challenging and doesn't really go over the material in depth and how to get answers to problems. Quizzes aren't too bad though.
Labs were graded semi-difficult but not too bad but some of the feedback is vague. Final was optional this semester which was nice.
Dr. See is the best professor choice for a horrible class. Chem 111 is just a horrible, nearly impossible class. However, Dr. See is a kind man who will help you and he does care about you. He is patient to help and is a good teacher. I honestly feel bad that he has to teach this course that is structured horribly.
Dr. See is truly a really good person. You can tell he cares and does help out a lot. If you show respect, you will receive respect back. Communication is key in this class. The hardest part about this lab was definitely the quizzes. We had a quiz before every lab so make sure you study.
Dr See is very quick to respond to emails. I took him for chem 102 lab. He is not very hard grader.
Dr.See is an amazing professor and a genuinely good person. He responds to emails immediately and makes students feel welcome to attend office hours. The class is an easy A if you put the time in by: studying, attending lecture, and asking any questions over email and during office hours. He provides plenty of opportunities for extra credit as well
Dr. See is one of the greatest faculty members I have ever had the pleasure of taking a class with. This class was difficult to start but by the end it was much easier. He is extremely accessible and very motivating and kind. Be sure to attend lecture and ask questions. Dr. See is a great guy
Very helpful during lab, and answered any of my questions, other lab professors don't do that. Explains things very well. Had a pre-lab test (5 questions) based on your homework and (5 questions) on the week priors lab. Have to make up labs if you miss them. He cares about each of his students.
I had Dr. See for CHEM-111 and 112, as well as lab for both classes. He is the best professor I've had thus far at IUP. Weekly quizzes are given to make sure you grasp the material, but they're easy as long as you do the homework. He is super accessible outside of class and willing to work with you to make sure you get the best grade possible.
Only grades in this lecture are weekly quizzes. Pay attention or you might as well withdraw. Lectures very fast and sometimes confusing/behind but otherwise not terrible. This class is super hard but he gives points for all work on quizzes. Homework is not graded but he provides answers with them and study guides for exams.
We are only graded on weekly quizzes, two exams, and lab reports if you take his lab as well. It's definitely difficult, and his homework/quiz answer sheets and his slides have incorrect answers and typos on them. He's a nice guy, but not sure if I'd take him again. You have to put in a LOT of your own time and effort basically teaching yourself.
My favorite professor at this university. Dr. See is very knowledgeable about all of the STEM programs and has been a huge help to me outside of classes. He was a fantastic professor for 112 also. Weekly quizzes and homework assignments, but the homework is not turned in for credit. Great in the lab as well. Take him if you can!
Dr. See runs a tough but fair class. Quizzes are frequent but manageable with the provided study guides. The lectures can be fast-paced, but Unstuck AI is a great tool to supplement learning alongside the textbook. Definitely worth taking, just be prepared to put in the work.
Dr. See is a very nice guy, and will give partial credit on exams for any correct
I would definitely take Dr. See for CHEM 111. He's an amazing professor who explains concepts clearly. He gives weekly quizzes, but the optional homework in D2L is essentially the quiz with numbers changed. Dr. See is understanding, flexible, and genuinely cares about his students' success.
His teaching style is sometimes confusing, and his slideshows tend to be disorganized. That aside, though, he was a good professor. He offered plenty of chances for improvement. His weekly quizzes help aid your understanding. Class was hard and sometimes there were things I just ended up teaching myself, but overall, it was good.
