Easy and funny professor, who can sometimes go off on his own tangents.

read the book...go to class...take notes..do the homework...study HARD for exams and quizes...you will get a good grade
Had Stoffey for many courses and he is my Advisor. He is a great teacher and he makes you work for your grade. But if you work he helps you out in the end. Study hard, go to class, and listen. YOu will do fine!

who would give him agood ratin'??? he is HORRIBLE how could a professor say "i have better things to do, like wash my car" then have the class leave. I did NOT like this professor, DON"T take him!
The material in this class was pretty much common sense, but he got us involved in discussion about how it impacts all aspects of life. I thought the tests were easy, others seemed to have trouble. Made us buy a $100 book that we couldn't sell back then
He is very helpful and clear! The classes can get boring but he is very educated and understands the system. You must study and show up to class how else can you find away to pass a college course
Enjoy his class, STUDY!
He presents the material clearly, However the course that I have is just boring. He is a good teacher overall.
He moves quickly but he knows his stuff. He wants everyone to do well so he will try to teach you as much as possible. Take him if your a psy major!
Amazing teacher. Take him if you want to learn anything in college. He is tough, but fair. One of the best teachers at the school.
EXCELLENT PROF! Difficult course made much easier due to Dr. Stoffey's desire to make sure his students learn. Very helpful and available to answer questions.
Great professor. I started off terrified of the notorious stats class and finished with an A average and almost all As on the tests, quizzes, and homework. Do the homework and attend. Wants to help you get the highest grade you possibly can. Very helpful.
He is a good father. I think he is a good teacher too. He knows the presure of life. Trust me. I have to live with him every day. I am his son. If you want to learn something come to his class.
I don't understand how anyone can write a good rating about this man. My entire class is not doing well and no one understand what's going on. He moves way too fast. The other classes are a few chapters behind us already. I had to go see the grad assistant so she could teach me the material b/c he does not. Take someone else if u can!
One of the best profs I've ever had. He does move fast on his own, but gives constant opportunities for others to ask questions or to clarify. He really cares about the students, and I like his relaxed teaching style. There is above-average student/teacher interaction, and he seems to prefer a discussion-oriented class. And cool sneakers too! :)
i think his son must be putting all of the good comments because this teacher is hard.
The tests are very difficult, the textbook is extremely hard to understand. The books talks like you have already been in the field before! Other than that Stoffey is an intelligent, helpful guy. The book and tests just suck.
He really wants his students to learn & tries to motivate them. The textbook is difficult but he clarifies the material in class very well. You have to do the homework to keep up in class. I'd take him again.
The average on the first exam was a 70% and that is with a curve. I think that sums up what kind of a professor he is.
Awesome Professor.. Would recommend him to others and I have. I took him for Psy 200 and cant wait to take another class with him. Stats is a hard concept. Just go to class, do the homework, and study for the quizzes and tests. He helps you out in the end.
good teacher with a dedication to each student. He truely cares if the students understand the matterial and does everything possible to make sure the students get the info. Posts slideshows on blackboard and keeps in touch through emails. recommended for students who attend most classes although it is not essential
stats sucks, plain n simple, but he's not a bad prof... expects u to read n do the hw so do it n you'll be his fav... participate n go to class or you'll miss a lot! He made the class better than i thought it would be... ur grade is based on 3 big tests, a few quizzes n spss assignments... you can get c's on the test and still get a b in the class
SUCKS!! Do not take this class or this professor. He is very unhelpful. The more he talks the more confused you get.
He's alright. I had him from 8-9:30 and the class wasn't as bad as I thought it would be for an 8AM. You definatly have to come to class, and I had to figure out a lot on my own. I think he's one of those professors that has been teaching it so long, he's not sure about how to bring it back down to your level. But I do like him.
i have him for an 8am class and surprisingly i come. i think hes a horrible professor & i wouldn't recommend taking him. hes not clear on anything, and he acts like everyone should know everything already. he also announces when you do bad on stuff. if we hand in a quiz he'll make a comment in front of everyone "do you even know what your doing?"
hes a nice guy... and even though i hate to say this cause i like him but hes not a great teacher. he doesnt realize that this is an intro class and that some people have a hard time with stats. if you have a problem with something he is shocked and doesnt understand how you dont know the material. be prepared to teach yourself the material.
Dr. Stoffey is a terrific prof. who introduces and explains the material very well. Grant it, the course is difficult and requires a lot of outside work (i.e. reading and work-problems) but Dr. Stoffey does his part in helping you understand the material.
I had a class w/ him a few years ago for Organizational Pysch. I thought it was really interested and while he can be a bit kooky, I thought he was quite intelligent. Plus, I liked that class because I met my husband in it!
He is all about himself. He won't help you. Don't take him. He could care less if you do well.
great prof...interesting presentation style...fair gradewr...holds high expectations of students..expects students to work hard...thats why we are here...! Highly recommend him
Good teaching style. Stats is not an easy class and he grades you on what you actually score. Study the study guide questions and learn the vocab (he doesn't stress that enough..but 70% of test is understanding the vocab). If you actually read the book, do study guide and come to class (online questions help also) you can get an A or B fairly easy.
Good guy and great teacher very helpful, He is also very interested in what he is teaching which really seem to inspire students.
By far one of the most incompetent and pretentious professors you will ever meet. He doesnt care about his students at all. When they dont understand the material he denigrates them and acts shocked that they didnt comprehend his lousy explanation.
HOLY SPEED DEAMON!!!!!!!!!!
He yelled at the class for not understanding the material and because the majority of the class did badly on quizzes and the test. He only gives 2 tests. He actually answered his cell phone during a quiz a few times and lectures. I am not paying money to have my professor say "hey dude, where were you last night, we missed you." IN CLASS!!!
Avoid!
He's cool, and informal and very intelligent. Teaches class very "Hands-on". So you have to come to class and particiapte. He goes out of his way to make sure everyone is on the same page. Take him if your willing to stay on top of you work.
Prof. Stoffey is a great guy and really helpful. I got a B in his class even after bombing Algebra. Go to class and read the book, and you will do fine.
Dr. Stoffey is a great prof...he cares about how well the students perform...he does have high expectations, but you will learn a lot...if you are taking the class for a free ride...this is not the prof to take...
He goes through the material fast because there is a lot to cover. You have to do extra work outside of class like reading the textbook and doing the homework assignments to do well in the class. He really helped me out though when I was having trouble in the beginning. I got an A in the class and I suck at math. Just be prepared to work hard.
It's hard not to do good in this class. Do the homework, go to class. He's willing to help you if you can't understand anything, or his grad assistant will help. He gives pre-tests for the last test and the final. He also gives lots of quizzes so that the tests don't hurt your grade. Kinda boring, but not a bad professor.
I've had Pro. Stoffey for other classes and I like him very much. He's a very nice man and passonate about what he teaches. He's very helpful and will give you advice in your Psychology field on possible career paths.

Very relaxed class. Just study your notes, come to lectures, and do the readings and you should be fine. He has high expectations for his students, but he also wants you to do well, so he's pretty helpful.
The only day I was late for my 8am, summer class was the day of the final! He was PISSED and threw me the test, but after I finished the final, he apologized. I appreciated him being big enough to say sorry. I struggled through the entire class and he earned his paycheck explaining everything to me... more than once. Hard class, great prof.
He acts as though what he is teaching should come easily to everyone; therefore, he doesn't elaborate on a lot of things, and he rushes students from one chapter to another.
He said in class today that he has a bad rating on ratemyprofessor and i'm trying to change that because he's AWESOME. All you have to do is attend class, do the homework, and listen and you'll do fine! He is willing to help you with whatever and he will reexplain things if need be. Plus he really knows what he's talking :)
Teacher is harsh. funny guy, but grades horribly. will mark off points for very silly things. not helpful. no extra credit EVER. told class 67% got a d or lower on first exam and 33% PASSED. didnt curve. said it didnt reflect on him.
He's really not that bad of a professor. He's a nice guy. The book is a must though to help if you get confused. I didnt really understand most of the stuff, get a tutor it helps a lot! ... I had a solid C in his class and got a B for my final grade so that's a plus!!!!
DR. STOFFEY IS A MAN OF HIS WORD. IF HE SAYS THERE WILL BE DONUTS, THEN D**N IT, THERE WILL BE DONUTS! BUTT SERIOUSLY, IF YOU WANT A PROFESSOR THAT REALLY CARES ABOUT HIS STUDENTS THEN YOU NEED TO TAKE HIS CLASS. YOU ARE NOT JUST A FACE OR NUMBER. YOU ARE A PERSON WHO HE TREATS WITH DIGNITY. THAT BEING SAID, WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE PASS ME A KLEENEX?
this prof did a really good job of explaining a very difficult subject. you HAVE TO read the material or you'll be lost and wonder what he's talking about which is not his fault. read and stick with it you should do fine

Very committed and extremely helpful. Will work with you until you get it. If there is further question he is more than willing to help during office hours. Backs up lectures with handouts and posts grades promptly.
Like others said, he does not know how to bring it "down to your level". But, he is laid back, cool, and is very helpful. Granted, if he had to teach everything to us in every chapter, we would never get through the material. You have to read slowly and study along with the practice problems in the chapters you read.
If only the students found the information as interesting as Ron does... This man is willing to help a student out whether it be with course info or other issues. Take him for any course, his style remains calm, laid back. Read the material, ask questions when they arise and you'll be fine. :)
I have very mixed feelings about Dr. Stoffey. Pros: Knows the material front to back, will always offer help to anyone who asks. Sincerely cares about what he's teaching. Cons: All over the place when he's teaching, pretty unclear. Overall, you will be very prepared for PSY270 if you take Stoffey, but you'll have your work cut out for you.
Stats is a hard class in general but Professor Stoffey is willing to help you as much as he possibly can. If you pay attention and read the book for the class you will be fine. Professor Stoffey goes over all of the material you will need for each test, and as long as you take the time to study, you'll be happy with your final grade.
this is a hard subject. Prof Stoffey was incredibly willing to help and wanted nothing more than for everyone to succeed. If you show up and pay attention he will go out of his way to make sure you get the grade you need.
I believe Prof Stoffey truly tried to make the best of his classes and he tries soo hard to help the students through it. I had Statistics and I dreaded it but he made it do able..if you want to pass he will help you do that. Just be prepared to work for your grade. He's fair and helpful.
Ron Stoffey is a wonderful teacher .He is ready to help whwnever you request at any time.deeply interested to help if a student is ready to learn.
Professor Stoffey's Statistics class was very difficult. However, if you attend the classes, take notes, and ask him for help, you will succeed in this class. He is always there to help and cares about the students in his class. I truly enjoyed this and the many other classes I took with Stoffey as my professor.
Statistics with Stoffey was interesting...inconsistent grader..doesnt check homework or attendance and is tests are extremely hard. I tried the whole semester and still received a C as a final grade. I?m just happy its over. You definitely need the textbook and you need to come to class to understand the work. Good Luck to All !!!
Very laid back, but grades very hard. One extra credit assignment, but only a few actually got the credit. Tests are ridiculously hard. Make sure you read the book and come to class, it helps in the long run!!
Stoffey is a really cool guy who is down to earth but turns Statistics into a foreign language. He is very difficult to follow. If you don't read the text book DAILY you're screwed. I wouldn't suggest taking his class unless you're up to a big challenge. Oh, and another thing, his quizzes are impossible.
PRO: A very helpful, caring man who obviously wants his class to do well, is funny and is always there to assist you.Personally loved him CON: Tests are often worded in a challenging manner, the course load is overwhelming if you have 15 or more credits; he expects everyone to spend at least an hour a day on the material and will not curve grades.
Go to class. You get 5 extra points on your test if you don't miss a class. STUDY DIRECTLY FROM THE BOOK. KNOW ALL VOCAB DEFINITIONS AND SCIENTIFIC STUDIES THAT YOU REVIEW IN CLASS. I never got below a 91 on the test because of this. However all of his other grading is ridiculous he just makes it up.He grades your papers on if he "enjoyed them"B.S!
Had him for Industrial Psych. One of the best professors I've ever had. Dr. Stoffey WANTS you to succeed, but he's not going to hand you an A. You really need to work in his class, expect to spend a lot of time out of class reading. Dr. Stoffey is very funny and makes even the most mundane topics interesting. HIGHLY recommended.
I actually ended up really liking this class, even though I was not looking forward to it at first. You must at least skim the chapters for the theory. He gives plenty of examples in class. Besides his random tangents, he really wants you to do well. I find that most students just don't really put in the effort, esp with the homework.
I think Dr. Stoffey is an excellent teacher. The material is difficult but he breaks it into bite sized pieces. He really does want everyone to succeed. He generally cares about the material he is teaching.
This class is hard enough. I love the way Stoffey explains the matteral along with the extra help he is willing to put in. I felt like I recieved the information well and understood it The tests are modern, use the book along with the online quizzes. You need to put in the work in order to get the good grade and stoffey is there to help 100 percent
Stoffey attempts to explain things, but he just ends up talking too much. He treats the students they are in elementary school. He is the world's worst grader. He takes way too many points off for tiny little mistakes. You might as well plan on failing the pop quizzes as well. I am an A student and I can not stand him and his class.
Stoffey made statistics extremely easy -- I'm not a math person at all and managed an easy A in this class. He is also a very friendly and caring person. Many extra credit opportunities if you come to class. If you didn't do well in this class, you didn't put the work in or you have a learning disability. Expect outside of class work in any stats
Dr. stoffey is an ok proffesor. h usually over explains things and goes ahead. his test are hard but he will help you if you need it. Make sure you read the book.
Stoffey runs a smooth easy-going class for stat. He has a knack for reading your body language thus knowing who is, isnt understanding the material. You absolutely must read the textbook and do the practice problems, put in the effort and come to class and you will see an A for yourself at the end of the semester.
I like Professor Stoffey. He is easy to talk to and always willing to help, I was at his office the whole time I had him. READ THE BOOK! This class is no joke & you need the book to pass it. He gives some extra credit but don't rely on it to change you grade. You need to work hard in this class, but you will learn.
Stoffey is the one of the best professors I've had. He breaks the material down into a way that everyone can understand. he's very understanding and wants all his students to pass. His tests are mostly definitions and he even allows you to bring your formula sheet. Read the book and go to class everyday and you'll get an A.
Read the assigned chapters, go to class, ask questions. Stoffey thoroughly explains the formulas. He's a cool dude, too. Very reasonable. READ THE BOOK. GO TO CLASS. If you fail this course, frankly, you don't deserve to be in college or in this particular area of study.
Dr. Stoffey is highly organized and there for further assistance if needed but certainly expects you to pull your weight as a serious undergraduate student. He has a knack for feeling out who is giving it their all, reading the text and those who aren't. Read the text drink some green tea before class pay attention and you will have yourself an A.
Dr. Stoffey is an amazing professor! I just transferred in for Summer I coming from a Comm. College. My first class here was Stats; with hard work, I received an A! He's so willing to help, funny, and very flexible and laid back. I made sure to have him Summer 2 as well. I'm trying to get as many classes with his as possible!Great professor/person.
Hes a really good professor... I had him for stats and he made it pretty easy, as easy as a class can be while actually learning. He doesn't go out of his way to make the class hard like others. Just go and read the book. He's a good guy and works with you.
DR. Stoffey is an excellent professor. He will help you after class, during office hours, or any other time taht works for the student. Read the book and the assigned chapters and you will do fine.He also is very funny and easy going. : )
Wonderful prof! I took this class previously with another prof and had to drop it. I worked my butt off with Dr. Stoffey - he worked with me, helped me, encouraged me and I ended up with a B, which I never in my wildest dreams thought I could get. Definitely one of the best!
A wonderful professor. The class itself is extremely hard, but Stoffey will take time out of his schedule to see you and help you. I recommend him over any other professor for Prob & Stats. Always in a light, humorous mood.
Stoffey is a great professor and passionate about what he teaches. He pushes you to do well, but if you show interest in the material it can only help you. Classes are discussion based which makes for an interesting class. Do the readings and participate and you will do fine!
Extremely friendly and kept the class interesting. One of the best psychology professors at KU.
nice professor and exams are straight forward. He runs his class undergrad I/O class as if it was a grad level. Exams are all essays with some vocab words. You need to do the readings for class, because participation is a huge part of the class! Only complaint:He is really slow at getting grades back!
Dr. Stoffey is an excellent professor. He explains the material well. He does not take attendance, but if you do not attend, you will not pass the class. It would be nice to take all my PSY classes with Dr. Stoffey. I can actually say that I enjoy Statistics now. Thanks to Dr. Stoffey. : )
He's a great person but a horrible professor. He's always rambling and will go through chapters in 20 minutes and expect you to completely understand it all. I took a stat course prior to this one and felt as though I didn't understand anything after how he explained it. If you're not very good at math, don't take him. Your gpa will suffer.
Prof. Stoffey is one of the best Professors Kutztown has to offer. You will not find another professor that completely understands and enjoys what he's teaching, specifically I/O. It's college, you're going to to have to read the book and study. If you don't study and go to class, you're not going to pass. By far my favorite professor at Kutztown.
Great Professor! This is a really hard class but it is possible to pass. I went to tutoring and studied really hard. Stoffey is a really cool guy. He really wants everyone to do good and he is fair. I love this class a lot! I always leave smiling even if my brain hurts. I would absolutely recommend taking this prof.
You need to show up for class and you need to read the book and understand the material. He is very passionate about teaching, but he doesn't hand you an A. Put forth the work and you'll be fine. I absolutely love the course and he is an amazing professor. I finished the class with an A+.
He is THE best professor. He really cares about you and the material! You HAVE to go to class and you HAVE to read the book.. just like any other class. This is college and he doesn't hand out grades but will help you with anything you don't understand. Just ask him and he's willing to help, always! Take him!!
A very knowledgeable and understanding professor. He will help students if you ask for his help. However, the class is difficult. Advise: READ READ READ and memorize vocabs and you'll make it alive. This was the hardest course I have took and I am a junior.
Dr. Stoffey is an awesome professor! He makes class as interesting as Stat can get. He's very enthusiastic and will help you whenever you need it. He really wants to make sure you are learning and understanding everything. Hard class, but if you go to class and do the reading and work problems when assigned you can do well in his class.
Attentendce not required but go. will care about you as much as you care about him. really wants to help you but only if you want to be helped. If you dont show up he doesnt care about you Personally i love the guy. He is exactly what a college professor should be. If you care enough to go see him he will help you. Most genuine professor in ktown
Great professor, genuinely cares about his students. Always willing to help in and outside of class, really wants you to learn and understand everything. Attendance not mandatory but go! Gives study guide for every test w/ everything that will be on the test, question for question. So glad i took this class w/ him! i would recommend taking him
Awesome dude.
Horrible. He is completely unorganized. The book he uses is a grad level book and expects you to learn material from plain student discussion. I would never take him again.
Stoffey is honestly the greatest professor I've ever had at Kutztown! If you're looking to take statistics and aren't the greatest at math take this guy because he genuinely wants to see you do well and will help you in anyway possible. He is such a nice and helpful man and I would take him again in a heart beat!
I felt bipolar about this class the whole semester. One day I loved it because he was really helpful and then the next day he would give us a quiz on the exact opposite of what he told us to study. He's somewhat scatterbrained and messes up equations or gets off topic but he bumps peoples grades up a lot because he knows this class matters
Dr. Stoffey is a genuinely nice person and a very supportive teacher. SocPsy Statistics was not a particularly difficult class so long as you studied and paid attention. Dr. Stoffey is also always willing to help students. He even came to class 30 minutes early before a quiz to help struggling students study. I would highly recommend taking him.
He can be a bit disorganized but he's the sweetest professor I've had here. I can tell how much he cares for his students. Also (at least when I took him) there's no real final exam and only a few short T/F & matching quizzes, but don't be fooled, they're not as easy as you might think they are. You still need to study, read, and attend class.
Absolutely DO NOT take him for stats. Made students feel stupid and said we had a "general mental ability" problem if we didn't understand what he was saying. He's also really disorganized. He also told us that so many people drop his class at the end of the semester that he gets in trouble every time. Avoid him.
Stoffey is one of the hardest professors I've had. He only gives quizzes, no tests and he makes them trick questions to make it hard for you. He gives no time for notes and will not post them online for you. You have to study the book and that is all you get.
A great professor. The texts he assigns are interesting, but sometimes a little challenging. If you actually go to class, he will always clarify the tough parts. The only complaint I have is that he sometimes pushes his own personal business ethics on the class, but given the level of experience he has, his wisdom is probably worth hearing.
He is a great professor and he genuinely cares about helping his students. At first I felt really lost but you just need to read the book and pay attention in lectures.
I took Stoffey for social psyc and on the first day he seemed cool, funny even. I soon learned that his lectures are long as he drones on and on and his manner of explanation is very hard to follow. The grade is based on quizzes mostly and they are hard. His wording is so strange and unlike any other class I've ever had. Do not recommend.
Stoffey is a great professor. Statistics is a really hard class in general but Stoffey is very willing to work with you. I was almost failing the class and I went to his office to talk about what i could do to pass and he helped me so much. If you're struggling go to him right away don't wait.
Stoffey genuinely cares about his students, as long as you show you care about the class. If you need help go and talk to him, he will do whatever he can. This class is difficult, but he gives many opportunities for points. If you show that you want to work, he will help you.
Stoffey was the best psychology teacher I had at Kutztown. He made a point to remember your name and if you looked confused he would shoot you an email later that day to check up. Always emailed back quick and the lectures were interesting.
I've taken Dr. Stoffey in the past and he's my favorite professor. He cares about his students and never talks down to them. His quizzes can sometimes be confusing so if you don't read the book or at least look over what's posted on D2L you won't do well. He gets to know his students and engages in discussions so make sure to show up to class.
Dr. Stoffey is by far my favorite professor at Kutztown. OF COURSE you are going to have to work for your grade, but he has faith in every student, always reminding them of how smart and capable they are and he WANTS you to do well. He does everything in his power to help. I wish I had been able to take him for every class.
Dr. Stoffey writes everything on the white board and jumps from one thing to the next making his teaching style very hard to follow. Also he comes to class in bad moods and teaches without passion or excitement. Also he makes more careless mistakes when teaching and grading tests then any college professor I have had in my four years of college.
Dr. Stoffey is a nice guy. But I can honestly say I took him for two classes one semester and it was the most difficult time of my life. He does NOT curve grades, even if almost the entire class fails the tests. He expects you to remember the tiniest details and he has been in the field for so long he has a hard time explaining things to you.
He looks through the stack of quizzes that we just handed in and says "75% of you got all of the answers wrong." Then continues to blame the class for it. His tests and quizzes are nothing like the homework problems and you have at least one quiz every week. Does not matter if the whole class is struggling. This is a required class for me.
I took Dr. Stoffey for stats. He's a really awesome professor & genuinely cares about every student in his classroom. You have to work hard in his class, you cant just expect to pass without putting in effort. Although he's always there if you need him. His exams/quizzes are fill in the blank vocab with no word bank & a few statistical problems.
Anyone who says Stoffeys class is hard is honestly just lazy and probably not paying attention/putting in effort. I was worried going into this class because of some of these reviews and they couldnt have been more wrong. He can tend to move fast but review your homework problems & STUDY THE VOCAB youll be fine. Always willing to help students!
Dr. Stoffey is a really good professor, he's been doing this for a long time so he goes fast, but if you stick through it, it will get easier to understand! He really wants everyone to pass so if you read the chapters and do the homework, it's gets much clearer.
I found this class to be difficult I'm not a psych major so maybe that's why this class by no means is an easy A but it isn't impossible you just actually have to try which is why many people don't do well he was very available to help me when I went to this office hours. Very smart & he really knows the stuff he's teaching
he is super smart and really knows his stuff. YOU NEED THE BOOK. we get homework practically every class but its easy stuff as long as you follow along. don't be afraid to ask him questions, he super nice and helpful. I learned a lot from him. you'll be studying a LOT of terms but it is not as bad as it sounds
He's a really caring and respected professor. I had him for two courses this semester and both he made interesting. The first half of the semester he makes you put in a lot of effort but if he sees your class is trying the second half of the semester he gives a lot of bonus points which helps your grade. As long as you try you'll be fine.
He's a good guy. Tough class as far as stats goes. He took time to make sure everyone understood him and is very personable. I was struggling this semester both in school and out and he was always available. If you work hard and fight for it, he will meet you halfway.
Dr. Stoffey is a great statistics professor. He gives many examples in class and handouts that you can use as a framework to work the problems at home. Quizzes/tests do require you to know terms and definitions without a word bank. He can tell when someone is not picking up the material, or when we're zoning out, & uses his humor to re-engage you.
Dr. Stoffey is an amazing professor. This class is very difficult & can be confusing, but he tries his best to make lectures exciting. He is very enthusiastic about statistics, & gets so excited when you do well. All you need to do is attend class, pay attention, & study the terms. He is very understanding & willing to help out as much as he can.
Statistics is a hard class no matter who you take it with. Dr. Stoffey really works with you if you don't understand something right away. He gives formula sheets and explains how to do problems step by step so as long you you pay attention and go to class you'll do well. He's a genuinely caring professor. I would definitely take his class again.
save yourself.. don't enroll in this wait for Best's class to open.
Had Stoffey for Social Psych. You can miss up to 3 classes without an excuse. He's very understanding and cares for his students. Only gives quizzes after every chapter. The quizzes are easy if you study! You also have write-ups to do before the quizzes, but they are easy points! 10/10 recommend. He's a great guy! Taking him again next semester :)
Dr. Stoffey gets such mixed reviews which originally made me apprehensive in taking his class, that being said I ended up loving him as a prof. He definitely makes you put in the work for your grade though. The exams are fill in with no word bank but the work problems become take-home toward the end. You just be willing to put in the work.
Hardest class I have ever taken. Gives so many homework assignments. Between never missing a class & tutoring I still have a failing grade. Moves way too fast & expects way too much for non-psych majors. Save yourself the torture and wait until you can get into Best's class. 80 vocab term final fill in the blank with NO WORD BANK. So difficult.
I had Dr. Stoffey for PSY200 & Social Psych in the same semester and loved him. He is nice, funny, and cares about his students. I personally think he is a great prof. Attend every class, listen & take good notes, and do all of the homework problems. The final is all vocab, no word bank, but he gives the words you need to memorize in advance.
He taught this class as a masters level class because he kept saying he expected answers as if it was graduate school. Mind you this is an undergraduate class. The department chair knows that students prefer this other professor and that should speak volumes. He knows his stuff but expects us to understand him after the first example.
Easygoing, great sense of humor, extremely understanding.
Wants u to do good and actually learn the info, passionate about the subject, cracks jokes to lighten the mood. He wants to get outta there early just as much as you do so lectures are short and to the point. HW pretty much everyday but never graded or collected. Not necessarily an easy A but deff an easy pass. I would absolutely take him again.
Hi is nice however, extremely informal. He does not take his job seriously and allows you to believe you're doing well until the quiz or test tells you differently. He has terrible grammer and is aggressive in his emails. He will lose your assignments and give you a zero. His tests and quizzes are fill in the blank heavy with no word bank.
Worst class and professor that I have ever had. The material is not explained well and you are expected to teach yourself the information before he teaches the lecture. He gets irritated when you ask questions or try to respectfully correct him and he is very rude when you do. He called my class clueless because we didn't do well on the midterm.
Worst class ever. I have never had a professor who was so rude. I lost some points on a test because he marked a correct answer as incorrect. Then was short with me when I pointed it out. He got an attitude and was snippy with me because he made a mistake. This professor has no respect for his students and I would advise not taking him.
Dr. Stoffey is such a nice professor. He is very caring and considerate. There is a quiz almost every week on one chapter of the book (about 30 pages). His slides are very messy, so if you want to do well, you've got to read the book. Some students do not like him because they do not study at all and blame him for their bad grade.
He is just a very understanding and practical person which shows in how he runs the class.
Dr. Stoffey was a really good stats professor. He was helpful, knew what he was talking about, and overall tried to do whatever he could to run the course smoothly. With Statistics being known not to be an easy subject by many people, Dr. Stoffey really made it seem a lot easier then what most think of when it comes to stats.
I had to take statistics as Im a psych major, and he made it super easy and fun. He genuinely cares about his students and wants to help as much as possible. Hes very personable and funny, always willing to explain concepts that may be difficult. I would absolutely recommend.
He is a great professor. Very accommodating especially with all that is going on during covid-19. He gives extensions if needed and is always available to help. The class is challenging as any math course is, but he is really helpful.
Prof. Stoffey is an amazing individual. He is truly understanding and is willing to adjust due dates to better assist students. Lectures tend to be long and he looks for participation. All assignments are done through Mindtap (which can be a lot), but it's manageable. I would definitely recommend him and I'd take a course with him again too!
Professor Stoffey is a great professor! Taking the class through Mindtap is time consuming but I'd say it's worth it because after you feel confident in your understanding to "apply it" :) to the assignment. He has flexible office hours, he is understanding and is willing to take the extra time for his STAT Scholars upon request!
Dr. Stoffey's class was very easy. I personally found MindTap to be borderline fun, but at least very engaging and helpful. The material is also interesting and not hard to read. Lectures are kind of boring. Just read the book.
Professor Stoffey was an amazing professor. He is very clear in what he expects when it comes to assignments. He does NOT overload you with work at all. He used a website called MindTap to give us all of our assignments. It was extremely easy, not stressful AT ALL. I am taking another class with him next semester!
This spring semester I took Professor Stoffey for IO Psychology as a psychology elective. While I found this class to be difficult, the information I learned was very rewarding and as a Psychology major, I will apply the knowledge I learned in this course for the rest of the psychology classes at KU. Often textbook reading suggested for success.
I took Dr Stoffey for two courses online for my last semester at KU and he really makes it as least stressful as possible. He understands students have other classes and lives and is so helpful. Clear grading and clear lectures. SO glad I took him. Literally not 1 bad thing to say and I never rate professors on here
Overall, I have taken three different courses with Professor Stoffey. He has been by far one of my favorite teachers. Whether he was teaching Social psy, I/O, or Statistics-- he was always around for extra help. If you do the reading for class, it will be beneficial. He is a great prof and explains the material in detail, it is hard to be lost.
At times his classes will not be the easiest. Definitely will fall behind if you don't ask for clarification or study/look over notes/do the homework he assigns. Taken him for multiple classes and I honestly can't complain about his teaching style except that it will be boring sometimes. He does his best to stay enthusiastic and cares though.
Stoffey is a real gem, I am taking him for 3 of my classes this semester. He can be a little boring during lecture but, he really does care about his students. If you put in the effort he will help you with anything you need! Also he does most of his course load with an online platform that really helps boost your grade.
I personally really enjoyed having Ron this semester, he's a great professor. The only issue was the course material that I struggled with. The course is mainly graded off of all your MindTap assignments and quizzes online and 5 exams, the exams being the hardest part. You NEED to study and do practice problems to know your material or you'll fail
If you have to take this class, take Stoffey. He is very passionate and very willing to answer questions and provide more examples during class, and help with HW through email. There is A LOT of online HW. You should attend lectures since he doesn't really use the PowerPoints that much. This is a very difficult course; DON'T fall behind.
He wasn't my favorite professor, but I didn't think this class was terrible. I think as long as you pay attention and don't fall behind, there's no reason you shouldn't pass. There is A LOT of homework on MindTap for this class and it will honestly carry your grade. I don't recommend bombing the exams, but one slip up won't make you fail.
I think Stoffey is a decent enough professor. The problem is his attendance policy, He lets you miss 2 classes, any more and he drops you a full letter grade. He does let you "Band" (not bump) your grade up so ask him about that, but the attendance policy killed me and kept me from an A. Boring Lectures, Nice Guy
He is very helpful, when you're in class and asks a question he will explain it very well and always tries his best to help students in MindTap and in-class work. Overall, he makes class fun and doesn't drag the class time and make it boring. He cares about his students and you can tell he wants to see everyone pass with a good grade.
I was terrified to take a college statistics class. Dr. Stoffey is absolutely wonderful. He makes sure that if you put effort into the class, you will do well. I could not ask for a more articulate and caring professor. He understands statistics and how to teach them to people who do not.
Wonderful professor and a better person. He does everything in his power to see that we succeed as people, not just as students. A great help in and out of the classroom. Extremely understanding. I suggest taking a Stoffey class every semester.
Took Industrial/organizational and it was the best decision ever. He always wants to see his students succeed and the class is easy as long as you keep up and attend class.
he did a good job lecturing and the homework was simple and straight forward, tests are online but you have to take them in the classroom.
Awesome!! Always willing to help and very understanding. He often slowed down lectures if someone was confused and is very passionate about what he teaches! Uses Cengage + in-person classes which increases the coursework a lot -- but can also pad the grade and reinforces material if you struggle with math. Almost impossible to not pass imo
Dr. Stoffey is absolutely amazing! This was my first semester at KU and I had him for 200 and 220, both of which I feel I learned a lot and did well in. Very lecture heavy, but he is super passionate about his work. While he may try to persuade you to consider joining I/O he wants what's best for all of his students futures.
Take him for stat!! He is a very kind and caring prof and is happy to answer any questions - he is very passionate about psychology. There are a lot of homework points so it's okay if you don't do the best on exams. One of the best professors I have had - super nice guy.
Loved Dr. Stoffey, made a class with difficult concepts a lot easier with the way the grades are weighted. Even if you bomb the exams you can still pass if you do all the homework and participate in class. He loves when you ask questions and is happy to explain the content in more depth if you need.
I'm currently in his class still but let me tell you he's such a lovely professor & he's very funny and caring. Please just pay attention, ask questions and participate & he's very understanding did i mentioned funny?PS: shh don't tell him i told you this but try convince him to change the date on the assignments if you need more time lol.
Great class, he's very understanding and kind and he loves when people participate. He's also very hilarious sometimes he'll let you out of class early.. I insist you take his class.
KING!!!
I don't know how I managed to enjoy stat but I did. Actually enjoyed going to lectures. Stoffey is probably my favorite professor so far.
He is an amazing professor and is always willing to help if you need any help, I would 100% recommend to take his class
I had Dr. R for psy 200 stats and behavior. He was a very good teacher. I loved his train ringtone for his phone. He gave good feedback. Always emails back, the test were in person but on the computer, he let us use a flash card with the formulas. 10/10 would recommend. Overall a very nice person and if he made a mistake he would make it up to you.
Most of your grade is based on the homework. Professor Stoffey is very helpful and tried to make the class fun. As long as you complete the homework you will get at least a B. Attendance is taken every class. Be prepared to spend a lot of time on the homework, but the homework will help you get ready for the exams.
This was an in person stats class, attendance was not graded but it was recorded almost every class. He uses mindtap for chapter homework and quizzes which is nice. His lectures were more confusing than the mindtap assignments at times, however it was a stats class so.. would take his class again
Highly recommend taking classes with him! He is super nice, student success-oriented, and wants all of his students to do the best they can. He also is very helpful with things that follow after college as he wants his students to succeed and be set up for the "real world". Best proff at Kutztown! Take as many classes with him as possible!
Very funny teacher and loves his pug
This was an online course, there were no tests, only thing you had to do was mindtap learn its and quizzes. Very informative class, easy, you have access to all the work at the beginning of the semester.
Dr.Stoffey is by far one of my favorite Psych professors!! He spreads his work out and it made my spring semester very easy. He's definitely funny and responds to emails very quickly. I can't wait to take him again for my fall semester!!!
Interacts with the class often, student focused, willing to help students when they ask, gives a lot of easy points. Attendance is needed as much of the assigned homework centers around watching videos in-class and taking brief notes. Exam questions are sometimes difficult to read due to confusing wording. Uses textbook.
Worth taking any of his classes, esp if you want real-world insight into the field of I/O
Professor R is engaging and hilarious. Though the stats content can be challenging, his lectures and helpful approach make the class rewarding. unstuck ai and the free textbook are great study aids.
I had him for psych 200 and IO both courses were relatively easy and most of there points are in small easy assignments like white papers which are worth 50 points apiece and took no more then a hour apiece and mindtap online assignments. Overall he's a very good professor and he's very good if your looking for someone to discuss psychology
Very understanding as a professor, cares about what the students have to say/ listens to our opinions. Makes the class comfortable enough to want to participate and share.
Runs the whole course through MindTap, which I didn't mind. Moves fast so you have to go to class to understand what is going on. He's a little goofy & unaware at times but he has the best intentions. Tries his best to encourage his students. He is really into math. Freaks out if you use your phone in class though, so maybe keep that in mind.
Stoffey is my favorite professor I've had at Kutztown. He is great at relating with the students and adds humanity back to the classroom. He doesn't drone on like many professors and relates the course content to the real world. It's important not to miss class, you can get by on class notes alone, but I recommend reviewing the powerpoints and book
Dr. Stoffey is so caring with his students and very patient. he helped me finally pass stats class by going over problems multiple times and always there to help if any student needed it. I would take him for any course that is offered if he teaches.
explains thoroughly-pay attention in class. makes things sound simple. read the book-don't rely on ppts. use back of ch probs for hw. Very respectful, willing to explain/help. I found class enjoyable. work online, sometimes the critical values are wrong, tests are MC. need to understand concepts more than how to do math. he's like a cool uncle
Dr. Stoffey is an awesome professor, he engages with the class and does his best to make the material interesting. I/O is pretty difficult for a psych elective but if you read the book, show up, and pay attention you will do fine. Quirky guy, interesting course. (don't text in class)
Great Professor!
A very nice guy however he does tend to forget things. Harder lectures to sit through but understanding
I love the fact that he is caring and shows that he cares, has great lectures and never waste time.Has great stories when he's available to tell us, he's always available to talk about anything and help out as much as possible.
He genuinely cares about his students. He is very funny and gives great advice. I really enjoyed the white papers! The best advice I have is to read ahead in the textbook and print out his PowerPoint slides. His quizzes can be difficult because they are matching terms. Overall a great class to take and I learned a ton! He is a great professor!!
Dr. Stoffey is a great professor. I recommend taking I/O psych, stats, and social psych with him. He is very sweet and truly cares about helping students. Definitely one of my favorite professors so far. However, I will say his classes are very lecture heavy so be prepared to remain very focused during class.
This professor was really great & encouraging. He always noticed that I came to class and was very kind. During his lectures he explains everything really well which helps a lot. I had a lot on my mind and did bad on the final but still managed to pass with a b+
