Very smart man... you can do well if you work hard
He is not easy, but he knows economics better than anyone.
this guy is a d**k; dont take his class!!

Very hard, but he helps out with an easy grading scale

Tough, but wants to teach a lot. You will learn a whole lot, but stick to the script. Somewhat close minded, does not like to be challenged. Actually very normal outside class, which is unusual for an econ prof.
One of the Best Professors I have every taken. He kind of scared my at first, but it wasn't bad at all.
this class is very hard, but he makes you learn the information, you definetly leave this class a lot smarter even if you don't try
Not the nicest teacher, and if you like examples, don't take any classes from him...he isn't too keen on giving them, just going over already over-discussed ones.
crazy
WOW he is really weird, kinda nice, class sucked, easy grader, he loves coca-coal and vernors, he practically rips his own face off in class, bizarre guy!!!!!!!

This teacher is the biggest A-hole i have ever had. He insulted our class, told us he'd rather go to the dentist or rake leaves than grade our assignments. He expects the class average to be a 2.5, and he's happy with it. Do NOT take him.
Easiest class I ever had. An 85 is a 4.0 in his class and there is no reason to not get one. Econ is mainly common sense anyways so that makes it even easier.
I have a 3.7 GPA and this class is extremely challenging. It wouldn't be bad if Tracy was nice.He is a big jerk and he's old so he is set in his ways. Not laid back at all; very authoritarian. He is so boring and not a kind person.I think it's time for him to retire. Don't take his class.
Horrible guy! Insults class, everyone hated him, he didnt care that half class failed, he expected that. Also, very unclear, shows up late all the time, just a nightmare! Avoid if you can. Worst professor i had.
WARNING: DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR! CHANCES ARE YOU WILL FAIL TH ECLASS MISERABLY. In the 3 years that I have attended this college, this is th eworst professor that I have ever had. And I have had som eterribel professors. He gives homework on things that he hasn't even covered yet,
i have never experienced a bigger jerk of a professor than this guy. talk about power trip! this guy gets off on failing people!
This guy seemed to be high on caffeine. Very loud and hyper at times, but explains stuff pretty well. His tests were not easy but not hard. It is shameful that other people don't like him, beacuse he is a pretty good guy. He sounds **** at times due to the course material and textbook on economics
WARNING!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH TRACY. He is absoultely an ****. Horrible Lectures, Hard Tests, Doesn't cover everything in class. A 45 % is a 2.0 though so if u can stand an **** as a prof he's okay to take. Prof. Tracy should retire and get outta my nightmares.
TRACY IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!! DO NOT TAKE WITH HIM! HORSES ARSE!
This guy is the worst professor ever. Do not take him! He can't teach and is grumpy. He loves using visual statistics but really never explains what he is doig very well or how it applies to the real world. This guy needs to be put out to pasture i cant believe i have to pay for this garbage.
Do not take this class with him. I dropped my class and i wasted my money. I had 3.6 in qmm 240 but if i stay in 241 i could fail the class he does not teach anything. he just use the visual stat on comuter all class. when somebody tells him to do the problems he says its to long so i can't do it in
This guy is terrible. He is mean awful person who hates all of his students. His grading scale is helpful becuase an 85% is a 4.0 but the class itself sucks. Oh yeah and the tests are insane and imposible to study for. NO JOKE
HE IS THE WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. IT WAS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.!!!DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!! HE WILL WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY.
I HATE HIS PROJECTS. I HATE VISUAL STATISTICS. HE IS THE WORST PROFESSOR EVER.
dr. tracy knows the material, there's no doubt, but he does have a bit of an attitude. beware to listen to directions, or you'll really anger him. not a "fun" class by ant srtetch of the imagination.
so passionate! i think hes a good teacher. yes hes harsh and gets frustrated by silly little things but hes good
Professor Tracy is very knowledgable in his field, however he is a poor teacher for many reasons. He offers little help for students and often gets frustrated when students don't understand the material. His lectures are a bit hard to follow and he comes off very scatter brained. THUMBS DOWN!
Worst professor I ever had. Very smart, maybe too smart. He is rude and won't answer questions in class regarding the homework. Will talk down to you if you ask a question he thinks you should know. Tests are extremely hard.
WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE..BORING LECTURES..FORGETS WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT IN MID-SENTANCE..TERRIBLE PROFESSOR..BASICALLY LIKE WALKING INTO HELL EVERYDAY..NEVER TAKE TRACY, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM AT ALL..
His bark is bigger than his bite. ECN is hard regardless & Tracy is strictly business but once he gets to know u & how hard u wrk he'll lightens up. Use the study guide, keep up on reading & hmwrk and u will pass. I worried my butt off & i got a 3.4 this is the one class to study hard for n never miss class.
He is totally jerk. Please save your money and don't waste your time. Take majeske he seems hard but he is not. but tracy is just jerk
absolutely horrid teacher!! didnt explain anything and i was totally lost. ended up retaking this class with another teacher and it is a hundred times better! Steer clear of tracy!

Put it this way, everytime i walked into class, i would pray that i had a sudden life threating illness so i would be able to be excused. And if i did, the homework would still be due on time. Thats how big of an a$$ he is.
Great class. Very useful if an econ major. He gets a bad rap, but I thought he was a good prof. Tries to scare people off in the first half, but things get easier in the second half.
Used a quality text last year, but switched to a much more difficult book this year, because he knew the author. Very difficult course, and material presented in lecture is not very transparent.
No-doubt, this is a difficult course. And like Gold in the slag, sometimes the effort required to extract the precious metal is more than the gain, if ya know what u'mm sayin'. He could be more transparent, for sure, maybe the knowledge he prof's is like the gold slag? Just be happy when it's over.
Great teacher if you like and understand statistics. Assumes you know something about statistics and if you ask him how to calculate variance halfway through the semester he will get upset. This class is for students who think they are a little smarter than the rest, and if you are, you will learn a lot of statistics in this class. Great curve!
It's an advanced class so yes it moves fast. You have to be on your game and when he says you will spend 20 hours outside of class, plan to spend that time. I fell behind in the beginning but pulled it off with some hard work. He challenges you, if you're looking for an easy ride go elsewhere. If you want to brag in an interview-take this class.
He is ridicously hard and not reasonable at all. Yet he knows what the hell he is doing, but he can't teach us in a way that we can all understand him. However, he is the only professor teaching 405 so you have no choice. Take him hoping to be stressed out for at least three months. You will be happy once it is all over.
Loose Cannon.
he is so difficult. the class averaged a 50% and he refuses to curve the exam. i have a 3.6 gpa at oakland and i am failing his class. do not take him!
This man gets paid while OU students waste their money on him. He is unprofessional, presents his material poorly, fails to deliver on all fronts. Take him in preparation of your GPA taking a hit for reasons not of your own doing.
Tracy never was on time. He was 30 mins late to our final. He has a huge curve built into the class. a 80% gives you a 4.0. Alpia and homework help a lot. if you do your homework show up to class take notes and study your notes weekly you will do fine. This is collage after all, do the work that is needed.
It is wrong for a class to be mandatory, offered only once a year, and to be taught by a professor that is this poor. He provides a big curve to make up for the poor quality of instruction.
All these reviews are from ECN 405 (econometrics, which is an extremely tough course no matter who you take) or ECN 200 (which everyone complains about). Is there anyone that can give a good, detailed review of this professor?
Wow, what a character! He bores even himself with his own lectures. Extremely hard exams. Very picky on grading, attendance, and seating chart. Poor answers to emails. Keeps you every minute in class. Expect low grades and for him to be disappointed in you. Not recommended!
Avoid! Quiz and paper due once a week. Takes his time grading. Lectures are frustrating when he talks in circles. Tests are 50-60 multiple choice, 5-6 true/false short answers, 1 essay with just over 2 hours to complete. You get 5 essay questions in advance (get tested on 1), but it doesn't help when you have so many other things to study.
Very unorganized lectures. As students we want to get an easy grade and graduate and find a good job and be unprepared. We need to study on our own time and do not expect to pass a class just because. I was in the same class and I study my A..S off for the final but I got a better grade that I was expected. He was fair in my case and I thank him!!!
Anal about everything...boring...tough grader...long exams...lots of papers due. Not recommended.
I am a good student. I can honestly say I have never been so lost in my life. He has us writing a PAPER on things he has hardly covered. I can outline the book, and give bad examples. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASSES! He can't keep his train of thought at all. Very smart, and nice, but can not teach at all. Please retire and give me my money back!!!!!!!!!!!
Probably the worst teacher I've had at Oakland so far. He does not explain the material well in class, he gives out tons of homework, and he is so old that he forgets what he is talking about mid sentence. He should be put into retirement because he is so scatterbrained. Please do not take him for ECN 200 and if you do, be prepared for the worst.
Horrible, Horrible, Horrible, can't teach, and doesn't present material clearly. Heavy workload.
This professor should not be taken if you are a slacker. Prof. Tracy is willing to help you, you just have to step up and take responsibility. Economics is a harder class no matter what professor you take it with. If you actually want to learn I highly suggest Prof. Tracy. He was a great professor.
Legitimately the worst teacher I have ever had. Pauses a lot. Repetitive "uuhhhhhhh"s, and says "as a result" like 40 times a class. Doesn't respond to emails in a timely matter, at all... (weeks). Makes tests longer than the time slot given to take it. Hours of HW every week. Makes it impossible... Literally impossible to 4.0 the class.
worst teacher...forgets what he says, he sometimes says something completely opposite from what he just said 2 mins earlier. he should not be teaching a 200 or a 100 level class. never clear on anything, he just uses his teaching time to complain about the world. he thinks he is better then everyone. TERRIBLE
seriously the worst teacher ive ever had. he has a heart for the students, but still the subject is not that hard but he makes it impossible to learn.nearly failed the class because of how bad he is at teaching. i had to teach myself the subject to get a passing grade. he goes off topic a lot and cannot focus whatsoever he seriously needs to retire
Everyone flipped out about how hard he was, but if you do your homework (which is a pain) and do decent on everything the class is not bad. Went into the final with a 2.5, and got a 3.0 in the class. Make friends with him if you want to do well, and go to class. He likes when people sit up front (haha even if you sleep)...
Class is impossible. Our averages on our exams were below 50% for each test. Half of the time its on his own opinions. DON'T EVER TAKE HIM.
He has a vast knowledge of economics. After a few weeks, I realized what he was blabbering about was actually interesting. Now I'm an econ major. I never participated in class, but always payed attention and did the work. I got a 3.2. Overall, not an easy class
Tracy's the man!he tries to scare u but he is a great n very kind man! Study hard for the midterm write down everything he says, kill the final paper n b prepared for a pleasant surprise on final grade long live RonT
Good human being but class was rather difficult as of the subject matter
Tracy is an excellent professor. Econometrics with him was by no means easy, but he makes the material very accessible. At the time, I despised his course. In retrospect, I learned more in that 4 credit class than pretty much the rest of my education. His course was the most difficult I've ever taken, but it was absolutely worth the effort.
He provides no clarification at all when it comes to assignments. The structure of the class was very confusing. He pretty much requires you to learn the material on your own and his lectures provide very little assistance.
He is a really old guy, so with that comes a lot of communication issues. All class he lectures about nonsense that is nothing related to the exams. There is at least 5-7 assignments due a week, some take 10 minutes and some take 3 hours. These are kind of related to tests. Pretty much go to class, have someone else turn in your work and leave.
Tracy is tough, but more than fair and if you put in the effort you will pass. He will expect more of you than any other professor at Oakland, but I guarantee you will learn a lot. He comes off very intimidating in class, but is very friendly and talkative if you stop by his office. He will be happy to help, you just have to ask questions.
Professor Tracy knows what he is talking about but what he doesn't understand is students are taking the class to understand, not be even more confused. I went to class, read the book and am re taking the class because I did not pass
Best professor I had at Oakland. Very knowledgable, clear in his expectations, and helpful. He expects a lot, and the material is difficult, but I learned more in his classes (Ecn 321 and 405) than in all the other courses combined.
I despised econometrics during the semester, but I learned more in that class than all my other classes combined. Prof. Tracy forces you to know the material inside out. His classes are not easy but if you put forth the necessary effort, you will be fine. He genuinely cares about students and wants them to do well.
Normally an econometrics/economics professor but for some reason was teaching my Statistics QMM240 class. Gave way too much homework (busy work) and spent all class lecturing off the top of his head about real world stats examples rather then using the book to answer our questions. Would not recommend this professor to anyone.
This class seriously was so terrible it was unbelievable. There was so much busy work. I spent SO much time doing homework outside of this class. I had no idea how the grading even worked because it was so complicated for no reason. I had no idea what he was talking about in class and how that even related to the book and the class in general.
Tracy is a very tough professor, but it's his best trait. He respects students who take initiative and will go out of his way to help you if you ask. In a class where everyone was complaining, I was motivated by him to work harder than probably ever and I was rewarded with a 4.0. Take pride in your work and do beyond what's asked and you'll succeed
This class is hard enough but he makes it about 5 times harder. He will ask more out of you than any other professor. A lot of it is stupid work that does little to help you on the midterm. He hardly lectures over the class material and would rather mumble on about theory. Curves the midterm heavily to compensate for his lack of teaching ability.
Want to know about China take this course. His rambles don't make sense and his points are vague. Self taught course with no direction at all.
HIS class sucks. It was the hardest class I had the year I took it. Ronald Tracy is relentless with homework. I felt I didnt have time to learn the material becaue I was so swamped trying to complete the homework and WEEKLY ESSAYS!!
One of the best teachers in the SBA I've had during my time at OU. He's a very nice guy that goes above and beyond to teach the subject matter. A Lot of HW, but overall, Professor Tracy is a highly intelligent professor that pushes his students to be the best they can be. If you are a student that is willing to work, a 4.0 is easily within reach.
Professor Tracy missed our first class session and didnt tell anyone ahead of time, so I should have seen it coming that he wouldnt be good. Doesnt post grades until end of semester. Slow response time to emails. At the end of semester he felt the need to tell the class how much they sucked through email. Well guess what Tracy, you suck! Avoid!!
Worst econometrics you can possibly have. Gives HW on material you don't how to do because he doesn't teach and curves midterm to compensate for his lack of teaching ability (don't worry, you'll probably fail it). Worst part is this material could have been pretty useful but I didn't learn anything. AVOID AVOID AVOID
I had a VERY hard time learning from the textbook, go to office hours! D on the midterm, A on the paper, E on written hw/in class quizzes, B in everything else, finished with a B+! Super frustrating teaching style, class is already hard enough. Befriend smartest kids, they will help you! He's late 5-30 min everyday. Find data before eval. variables
Tracey is like God, he intimidates you but he deeply cares. This class was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life and the load from this class is like 12 credits no joke. The midterm is extremely difficult and the papers aren't easy. But I love Tracey because he wants you to succeed, I learned more from this class than all of OU combined.
He gives A LOT of work. He is understanding and accommodating if you need it, but the work load is too much. Some of the papers are his own questions so it makes it a lot harder. If you have a life/other things to do, go with another professor. This class takes all your focus. Also doesn't really lecture, just answers questions/goes over the hw.
The structure of the course is very unique and geared to maximize your learning experience. You must work hard to do well. The structure of the class is brilliant - unique lectures, reading, justification homework, WSJ articles. Hard work will pay off - you will learn the material and feel very confident as long as you put in maximum effort.
Very knowledgeable and caring individual. One of the few gems at Oakland. Show effort and passion in the course and you will be rewarded with a good grade. Demonstrate receptive and engaged listening and you will learn beyond the material in class (makes a degree far more valuable than a piece of paper) and perhaps grasp some valuable wisdom.
Professor Tracy is one of the most caring professors Ive come across at Oakland. However, this three credit class took more effort than all of my other classes combined. He expects a lot from you, you have to teach yourself a lot of the material, and homework is due before his flipped classroom lecture. The main grades are your midterm and paper
Incoherent lectures, gets asked a simple question about supply/demand and goes on 10 minute ramble about how Jerome Powell, the news media, and martin Luther king have got it all wrong. Forgets to post and grade assignments and respond rudely students when they remind him in class. Gives vague assignments about topics not covered in class. Avoid.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! The amount of work is insane for only 3 credits, week outline posted Saturday nights and excepted to have done before class monday morning. Only way to learn is to teach yourself because he doesn't lecture and requires you to buy a $100 module in addition to subscription to wsj/bbw. No grades put in so no idea how I'm doing.
First, he assigned egregious amounts of homework for a three credit class. Also, we have to read the textbook on our own time and all his lectures are supplemental to the reading (i.e. he will only talk about material you ask about. If something is in the reading, but not asked about, he will not talk about it, but it will still be on the exam).
Consistently 10-20 minutes late to class and always says that he wishes he had an excuse. The amount of work for this 3 credit class was absurd. There are weekly justifications which have no right answer and every other week there's a wall street journal required that needs to have the same word count as the Declaration of Independence.
I would give him a zero if I could. You have an extreme amount of assignments that he never grades or puts things in the grade book. You have to read the chapters each week and teach yourself. He never responds to emails. You will not know your grade until it is in the grade book because he does not imput things ever. The final is also worth 40%.
Professor Tracy was the worst professor I have ever taken in my entire college career. If you're in his class, SWITCH OUT NOW. Every possible thing he did was terrible. He was 10+ minutes late for every class. He was very repetitive in his lectures and drowned on about nothing. We reported him to the dean and they weren't able to do anything.
Get ready to do tons of homework. It's expected that everyone does 6-9 hours outside of class. Attendance isn't mandatory, but your absence will go noticed. For all the homework you do, not much of it gets graded. The lecture isn't very relevant for the quizzes and the exams, pay attention to your book. Oh and participation deeply matters.
This was genuinely the worst class I have ever taken in my life. This class contained at least 10 hours of outside classwork per week, despite it being only three credits. You receive at least 4 assignments per week that might have to do with the actual material on exams. Tracy provided little to no helpful guidance on anything you ask him.
I was sad to discover that he can be a great professor, but chooses not to be. You independently learn the material through a textbook. Class discussions are almost pointless when it comes to the homework, quizzes, and exams. I pretty much walked out of this feeling more confused than before. Oh and the hw takes an absurd amount of time.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER, always late to class, you get assigned 13+ assignments a week on 3 different websites. Lectures are pointless, just goes over your hw that you turned in that morning that he doesn't even throw in the gradebook. If you mess up a little bit he will make sure you know it, wish i could give him a 0/5.
Worst professor I have ever taken.Very rude and disrespectful.Yelled at a student for standing up during an exam because he skipped him.Doesn't care about his students.Loads of coursework consisting of questions to ask, justifications, and Wall Street Journal essays every week.Averages 10 minutes late class every day. No review for final.
Cant keep his own due dates straight and zero course organization. The two main papers of the course (20+ and 35+ pages each) are built of the previous ones you turn in but he gives no feedback at all even after he promises it weeks ago. Then he has the nerve to email saying some of our research questions are clear less than a week before turn in.
For the love of God please don't make the same mistake I did and take his class just because it was the only in-person section. He isn't capable of doing anything basic required for his job. He makes the class so unbelievably difficult and complicated. He is extremely forgetful and needs to be reevaluated. Would rate negative if I could. Horrible.
He was late almost every class. He gave out 7 papers throughout the course. He didn't lecture in class, you were responsible for reading and learning the material. I didn't know my grade in the class until after finals.
The class had little to no organization. Grading did not make any sense. I wasn't able to comprehend much of the material that he taught. He was only on time to two classes. Very disrespectful to student's time and effort. Made little effort to give any feedback on papers. Overall, pick a different professor if you actually want a good education.
This professor is in his 80s. Has absolutely zero business teaching, at least not without an assistant. Has zero clue how to use moodle, gets due dates mixed up, and penalizes you for it. Difficult to talk to and negotiate with, and isn't even the least bit understanding. Also constantly losing papers, which he will also penalize you for.
This professor was bad. super bad so much work for so little reward. if you take this class you will be doing dead work he grades on average only 2/4 of the work he assigned and you have to do it.
Prof Tracy was nice, but it's clear he's too old to be teaching anymore. He would mix up our course with a higher level one, making many requirements unclear. He was my only option for this course so if you need to take him, it's manageable but I'd encourage you to avoid him if possible for the sake of your other classes and overall sanity.
There's not enough space to say everything I want but I'll say this...if you take this class you'll struggle no matter what. He runs the class how he wants and doesn't care for your opinion. I highly suggest u ask around before taking his course we'll tell u the TRUTH. Save yourself the tears and the stress of this class it is not worth your time.
This professor would change due dates randomly and assign homework with literally no criteria at all. The page would be completely empty, only the due date and homework title would show. I had a quiz due before class the next day and the questions were not posted at even 9pm so I physically could not take the quiz. Do not take this class.
Professor Tracy is essentially a professor allowed to teach because he has done it longer than any other current professor. As a first impression he showed up to our first class 15 minutes late. Not only that but he is rude and stuck in his own way demanding you turn in paper copies, but proceeds to lose them and faults you for it. Pass on this.
Imagine your most aggravating assignment you've ever done and you'll be doing 20 of those a week with this professor. Then, after you already have to teach yourself, he will belligerently degrade you in front of the entire class if you get one little thing wrong. Not worth it at all!!
-very little learned in his lectures -read the book chapter before class, make 1-5 questions, and turn in a physical copy of those questions, he'll spend the whole lecture just answering questions -frequently late to class -about 5 assignments per chapter,15 chapters total -this is my advice If you want to learn about economics don't take his class
This class is a major headache. The professor is consistently late, disorganized, and makes things unnecessarily difficult. The workload is absurd, with weekly assignments that seem to have no clear right answer. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for staying on top of all the readings and writing. Overall, avoid this class if possible.
Had to take this class for my major. I would rather get m0lested by 10 dudes before I ever take this class again. I would rather be in CEDOT prison.
