A dork, but grades easy, classes are easy
Washburn makes class worth going to. He's a real chill guy who knows his stuff.
Sweetest hair you'll ever see, better to sit as close as possible and try and figure out how he does it. Good professor too.
Nitro is HOT!!!
I had him 3 times. Awesome.
no attendance. fun class. he has some of the funniest stories
Kewl professor. Definately worth taking his class. Good stories too! :-D
Makes Class interesting...there if you need help....not an easy class but definately a cool guy worth taking
Coolest teacher I've had here. Very interesting class and worth going to even though attendance isnt required
he is awesome
Cool guy. Keeps class interesting with random stories.
Best teacher I have had here. Brings real life stories into the classroom.
He's a rock star, a hot-shot lawyer, a martial arts expert, a guy with TV hair, and now you can add this to his resume: the kind of professor that gives college education a good name.
Great teacher
Really cool guy who makes class and learning about the law fun. He is young and parties with rock stars and treats you with respect...best professor at Bryant, too bad he is a part-timer :( Definitely take him if you can.
He really knows what he is talking about. He wants you to improve on your grade and rewards your for it. Def take this class. Great stories about his famous friends. He relates all the topics to really interesting things so you remember easily.
He's always got awsome stories and is on top of what is going on in the real world. Drops your lowest quiz grade also
Best teacher i've had so far
Washburn is by far the most chill prof at Bryant. He always has the best stories and if you don't laugh when he laughs you must not have a pulse. Awesome guy and a medium difficulty class. Drops lowest quiz and is always willing to help. 1 PAGE BRIEFS!!! WOOT.. haha. Best LGLS prof @ Bryant.
he is interesting in class but very confusing, take lots of notes. u think u did well and u get assignments back and u do bad. he drops ur lowest quiz grade tests r really hard, r just 2 essays, he grades very hard + only increases as semester goes on. if u want to laugh and get a C be my guest.
I have to slightly agree with the last rater. He is extremely funny. Has great stories and will def. make you laugh, but his grading is screwed up. He has 20% for everything in the class, but says it doesnt mean anything and he will grade based on how you improve. Great guy, learned alot. Not gettin
I think he is so sexy. He doesn't want children and neither do I so I think we should get married. He is my perfect man, rich, intelligent, and stocky. What a cutie, oh yea and his class is pretty good too. You don't really have read. Tests and quizes are a lilttle challenging.
He's the best!!!!!!!
Class is interesting, but you have to take notes and you never really know what the test is going to be on. He is a very hard grader.
Great guy!!!!!. Has a real passion for law, and is a very bright individual. If you want to learn the LAW and also have some fun, take this class. He keeps it interesting and is very informative. Take good notes and you'll be fine on tests.
This guy is awesome!!! All of his exams are open book/open notes. His class is definitely worth going to everyday even though he doesn't take attendance. He relates the material to things that we would understand. Such a funny guy, tells funny stories of his stupid things his friends do... TAKE HIM!
The nicest guy ever...never takes attendance, gives half of each of the 3 tests you have as a take home. suck up and you will get a b
Nice guy...Be on time to class, he doesnt like it if your late. Easy class 3 open not tests which are half take home. Gives credit for any answer you put. Take his class
A very good instructor. Team presentation and three exams, two of which were take-home. Prof. Washburn is a real funny guy who tells hilarious stories and has excellent real-world examples pertaining to the law. Is somewhat of a harsh grader, but you will at lease take something away from his class.
Awesome class and teacher. He has hilarious stories and the class is fun to go to. Very clear about everything. Test can be alittle hard but it is all open notes so as long as you go to class and take some notes from the book you should do fine
Funny guy, no ****, treats you like an equal. Hangs with the WAAF set, definately a party guy. Knows his stuff, especially on intellectual property as that is what he does as an attorney. Not a class goes by without a disparaging comment about Hillary Clinton, which was great. Don't blow off your debate project...we slam dunked the other side because they didn't start til the day before and they got hammered on their grade.
Fantastic prof and guy! Every class is enjoyable! Has the best stories-- Take him if you can!!!
I remember more about his outrageou stories than the class but tests are open notes and take home so the class is definitely worth taking. Clarity is lacking but definitely a great guy.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASSES! Tests (all essays) are open notes and only take home if it is a MWF class. He grades very very hard on the tests. Even if you put the correct answer down, you're still wrong if you forget to mention, "this essay involves law"..come on..wait until you hear about the strawberry shortcake story, ya he's a great person...right
I took this class fall 05' and did fine. Ron knows his sh*t and teaches the material properly. This however, is a difficult class. But, if you go to class, pay attention, and take advantage of the extra help... you'll be fine. Ron never throws curve balls and is extremely fair with his exams. Anyone who disagrees is lazy. -A.D.-
Hes funny as hell. Really knows his stuff and tells hysterical stories. Girls dont seem to like him that much. Real tough grader but if you ask for help hes more than willing to give help.Real clear on test expectations and everything is open note.
washburn is amazing!! all exams are open notes. some are partly take home. he is a fair grader. dont even have to read the book, tests straight from the notes. easy and enjoyable class. only class i looked forward to going to!
I had no interest in the subject before I had this guy but he was the best teacher I have had since being here. Most interesting class and is very easy while at the same time you take something out of the class. Take him for any class you can.
this was a very interesting class and i learned a lot from him. his tests are tricky, but he grades very fairly. has a good sense of humor too and likes to crack jokes.
I took him for 3 different classes. Washburn is the man, his classes are good too. Helped me get into law school. Tests are kind of hard, but open notes. My only 2 complaints are he sometimes takes forever to grade the tests and sports law was way too basic and overlaps a lot with communications law. Otherwise great classes
This guy's a cook. Always comes out with the weirdest stuff. Jokes are funny . . . sometimes. By far the best LGLS professor at school. Tests are tricky but thats what the law is = tricky. Class time is used very well. Very personable. Not a nuymbers grader. Participate and do good work and you'll do just fine.
This guy is phenominal! I never really thought about law as something I'd be interested in, and now im minoring in it! Love this guy!
I am starting to hate this man. He is funny, but at the same time aggravating. Takes forever to grade stuff, grades exams hard, your grade is never based on what you actually get on stuff, but then again classes fly by most of the time because he is funny and entertaining. His laziness is frustrating to say the least. Take him, but not for GPA boos
Washburn is the man. He is very entertaining in class. After taking his class, I'm considering minoring in legals. No papers, only three open notebook exams with take home portions. Tough grader and is a little slow on getting exams back, but highly recommend him. Definitely would take him again!
He knows what it's like to be a student. He gives interesting examples to keep you paying attention. Not very responsive at his office hours. No paper, just three open notebook tests that he grades VERY tough.
Washburn is hilarious... he is the only class you will actually look forward to going to, especially if you have any interest in Legals at all. His tests are all open note, so just print out everything he tells you to and you are likely to do fine. Even if you think your grades are low, its only a 90 for an A, and I swear he curves at the end too
Interesting and entertaining professor, however, he is hard. He grades tests harshly and cares more about execution than what you actually know... I'm still trying to figure that concept out...
Simply put, he is the man. Has the best personal stories and is very entertaining. I actually didn't mind night class. Only tests really, so read the book to your liking. Not very responsive to students with questions or giving things back. Gave us extra credit once. Kind of a tough grader, but read your stuff and you're gold.
Awesome teacher. I highly, highly recommend him. Take notes in class and pay attention and you will do well. His tests are open notes so make sure you actually take notes and listen to his examples in class.
Markets and the Law is a great course for anyone who loves the law. If you don't, maybe take something else. However, Washburn teaches it so its worth it regardless. Professor Washburn goes out of his way to help students and explains the subjet matter well. Don't be afraid to read the book, it helps out.
Never would have made it through a night class without him. He made the subject matter interesting with funny stories, examples and real life experiences as a practicing entertainment lawyer. I learned more about business in this class than I did in BUS 101 last year. Definitely take him, you will be interested in Legal Studies after!
One of the worst professors Ive had. He would be a really fun guy to hang out with, however he is a terrible teacher. He does not care about his students at all, he would love to fail each and every one. Tests are 40% inclass 60% take home. He is only at the school when he has to be and never has office hours. I would never take him again
Good class, work extremely hard get B+, slack off, get B+, you decide if it is for you
He's a good professor. makes class interesting.
AWESOME!! Can be tough on you but only because he wants you to take the class seriously and learn. I have zero complaints. By far best legals professor at Bryant. No attendance policy but people do come to class.
I took this class and enjoyed it but a week after grade submission deadline, He still has not posted ours. I need to send my transcripts out and I have a deadline. So if you don't care about grades, this is a great class to take. Unfortunately, I need an A and soon.
I have to admit the class is very fun and interesting but boy does he grade hard. Aside from that test only reflect 20% of what you learned in the class.
Took the night class. 3 tests. He's a cool dude. Tells some really weird stories. Kind of a tough grader. I didn't buy the book and I'm look at an A-/B+ in the class. I'd take him again.
The high ratings for this professor are very misleading. If you take your grades seriously and like getting A's, this is not the class for you. He puts no effort into class and grades carelessly. Aside from this he does not communicate well with students and does not answer e-mails or help you if you need it. I wouldn't recommend taking this class.
Be wary of taking this class. Extremely vocal about his conservative beliefs, which can be aggravating if you're even the slightest bit moderate. Your grade comprises 3 tests which are predominately take-home and are difficult, as well as class participation which boils down to whether or not he know your name.
Nice guy, good professor. He does grade hard but gives a lot of extra credit. Does mainly take home exams so tests are no problem.
Great teacher. Even if you are not good at writing, go to him for extra help and he will help you. In lectures, he is clear-cut, and concise as possible. Yes, he grades hard, but it's only because he wants you to be the best writer you can be. All take home tests not too difficult, just time consuming. Highly recommend.
Definitely take him. His lectures are always interesting because he has crazy stories. You have to take notes and I would not miss class because the notes are important for passing the exams. The exams are take home but they aren't easy, you have to think and use your notes. He is very clear about what he expects on the exams.
People like Washburn because he is kinda funny, but his exams are hard Class was fun because we talked about sports the whole time, but we learned like nothing; he didn't have a syllabus and acted like he didn't want to help you outside of class, everytime I asked a question he tried to get me to go away as fast as possible lol. he doesnt care
If you want to learn about the legality of business without wanting to shoot yourself, take Washburn. He always makes class interesting and goes over all the material in class. Take good notes and you'll do fine.
Amazing professor and by far my favorite. I extremely enjoyed this class and would take it again. The best legals professor at this university.
He is the man! Had 2 classes with him and wish I could take more. Take good notes and just listen to what he has to say.
Washburn is a super cool dude. His classes are enjoyable and he has super wild anecdotes for every topic that we discuss. He grades subjectively, so even if you get a bad grade on an exam, you can still do well in the class. The only bad thing that I can say about him is that he is the type of professor that teaches for himself, not for the student
Washburn makes a usually boring class enjoyable to go to. He knows his stuff for sure, but teaches it in a strange way. Only gives three exams throughout the semester, which he grades extremely hard, but he scales grades so you never really know where you stand in the class. Definitely a good experience having him, but i wouldn't take him again.
He gives off a skeevy vibe but he makes class more of a conversation which is good if you're into that. No lecture slides he just dictates the material. Will openly be very offensive then laugh through it.
Washburn was the worst professor I've ever had. He's funny and knows his stuff, but shouldn't be teaching. You're graded off take home exams and participation. He won't tell you what you did wrong; he'll just write why and take off 30 points. He grades so subjectively that you'll never know your grade until it's too late for you to argue about it.
Washburn is the most talented and inspiring instructor I have had in 4 years of college. He is the reason I have decided to pursue law school rather than a career in business post graduation. His lectures present the law in a way that is engaging and he relates current issues to learning topics. I highly recommend taking any of his courses.
Ron is funny and good at teaching the material. With that being said, this guy is an absolute idiot and has definitely been involved in sketchy dealings in his personal life for a long time. His standards of "Good & Bad" have no correlation to ethics or morals, but rather are based purely in law. Ruthless grading early on, overall pretty scummy guy
Good at teaching content. Opinionated and expresses opinion often. All lectured based. Grade solely exam-based which are essays/a paper that you have a week to complete. DO NOT use your laptop, phone, smart watch, etc or show up to class even a minute late. He WILL take 10% off your grade and call you out in front of everyone every single time.
Washburn is one of the best professors at Bryant. His exams are challenging, but doable if you pay attention in class and take good notes. His lectures are interesting and he relates the law to his own experiences as a lawyer. He makes himself available via phone/txt/email any time. Have taken several classes with him.
Avoid this man at all costs. The average grade for our test was a 60 and he blames us for it when he wants such specific things its impossible to make him happy. He goes off on inappropriate and irrelevant tangents in class and is incredibly rude and demeaning. He clearly does not want to help and his comments are vague and very unhelpful.
loved this guy. attendance is not mandatory. he tells his own stories when he is talking about the law to give examples and is super funny. he's a bit of a hard grader but at the end grades on improvement. he cancels class a ton. in comparison to all of the other legals prof's he is definitely the best.
Seems like a cool dude until you get your first exam back. Grades super harshly and your only grades are the three papers you write. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you need to be there to do even remotely well on the essays. Says he takes your three exam grades and "kinda eyeballs em" and gives you what he thinks a good average grade would be
Brings up controversial topics and says that he likes different opinions and then shuts you down and makes you feel horrible if yours don't match up with his. Talks inappropriate topics and tries to justify them. No real grading structure. Students like him because gives to take home exams. He likes to teach so he can show off how "cool/bad"he is.
Avoid him at all costs. He is rude, uncaring for his students, and doesn't remember what comes out of his mouth. He said the first day of class he doesn't care if we show up, and then proceeded to lower people's grades for going online instead of in person. This was just the start of his confusing semester. Wins title of my least favorite professor
Honestly, do not take this class unless you are forced to. He doesn't care about his students and won't give you help or any specifics about how to get better. He records the class but doesn't post any of the recordings and make us request them by cell-phone. Worked really hard for his exams just for him to fail us. In three words? NOT WORTH IT!
Lectures are fine and interesting, you will learn a lot but he is a really tough grader. Looks for very specific things in exams and quizzes (everything is take-home and open-ended) but if you write what he is looking for then you will do well. Use his office hours and you will get good grades.
Pretty nice guy, class is an easy A if you pay attention & do what he asks on exams. VERY tough grader. He uses personal/real life examples when talking about law so it's easy to understand. He doesn't take attendance but you'll do poorly on exams if you miss lectures. Don't use your phone in class or he'll deduct points from your grade
attendance is not mandatory but is necessary to do well on exams. he will boost your grade if you participate. follow the format he tells you to for writing essays and you will get a good grade. he doesn't seem to care about your answer as long as you make a good argument that follows his format. easily accessible outside of class
Would not recommend, especially if interested in law. Largely ignored legal principle and completely inserts personal opinion instead of factual merit. Most people fail all exams but end up doing fine in the class anyway, despite the exams being the only graded assignments. Democrats- you have been warned.
Had him last semester. Overall good class. Exams are take home essays and grades hard. Follow the format he gives in class and write down when he says to know something for the exam. Lectures were interesting. Taking him for a different class this semester.
Gives personal ex so it is easier to understand but tests are the hardest thing in the world. Tests are take home + get a week to do them but on the first test he considered getting a 50/100 a B which just shows his whack grading. Whole grade is only on quizzes/tests, doesn't use canvas, and is really rude and petty at times. Avoid?
Washburn was the worst professor I've ever had. The class was business law, but we did not go over a single thing regarding business. It was essentially a constitution101 class. All great stuff, but not the class I wanted nor needed. He also makes you text or call him for grade breakdowns? I was uncomfortable doing so so I never did.
Idk why he has a low rating for Legals. Professor Washburn is a good teacher who knows what he is talking about. Class is mandatory because he doesn't have notes on canvas. All his tests are take home based on notes and quizzes are open notes, so NOTES ARE IMPORTANT. He is a good grader as long as you answer the question correctly and in detail.
Professor Washburn clearly knows the material in the class and will expect you to take notes. His tests/quizzes are very difficult and he has somewhat unclear directions on them, ASK HIM. Your grade in the course is determined mostly by how well you do on exams. Very little homework (none graded). If you want an A, take LOTS of notes.
Very easy class structure. He is very clear about what he wants and how he will grade. He tells a lot of his personal experience stories which can go for a long time, but its not a big deal.
Prof Washburn is a good professor and as long as you pay attention and take good notes, you'll do well in his class. Your grade is based on 3 exams and 3 quizzes, but he gives you chances to redo exams if you do poorly. He also said he tends to bump grades up as long as you don't go on your phone. He's overall a good guy and I would take him again.
Professor Washburn's class is easy. Come to class even though attendance isn't mandatory because the notes are super important. You are graded by 3 exams (they are take home) and 2 quizzes. It is a hard class at first because its a lot to learn, but it gets easier. I would recommend this class.
Great professor. The best in legal studies. Exams are easy if you go to class and take notes. Easy to get ahold of to ask questions. Participation helps your grade
Buy the textbook. It will be super useful for exams. Extremely harsh grader that says he wants you to send outlines of essays but will just say "not a good outline-ron". I didn't enjoy this class, but his lectures were somewhat engaging.
Loved this class. No attendance but you have to go to class and take notes for the exams. Interesting class, great guy.
Ron's a good guy. He's funny, informative, and I can genuinely say I learned a lot from his class. But the guy grades really tough and basically requires exact definitions that he provided on the tests. Take good notes. If you think you take good notes, think again. There are no slides, so make sure you get everything down. Please participate!!!
Great guy and a great class. You have a few exams and a couple quizzes which may seem daunting, however you can submit outlines and you go over a lot of sample questions in class. Very open to discussion and has lived a pretty random life with a bunch of stories.
Awful grader. Bases grades on written exams out of random and doesn't even give feedback when asked. Takes forever to grade which is weird cause he seems to pull the grades right from his ass. The class has no structure he will ramble on and on about anything. Class consists of 4 total grades, three exams and a project.
Would highly recommend not taking this class. Not a good professor don't waste your time
Great teacher and his class is actually very engaging, but be warned he's not a very nice guy. Does not post any assignments on canvas, and is pretty cutthroat about that. So you are completely on your own if you don't have friends in the class if you were to miss class for any reason.
Professor Washburn is great. Great lecturer, he tells lots of stories that can kind of get off track but is very thorough in his teaching methods. He is a tough grader, his grades are very subjective, but effort is rewarded. All his exams are take-home papers and are reasonable. Must attend class and take good notes to do well. Would recommend.
Professor Washburn teaches an engaging class, but you'll need to stay on top of the detailed notes to do well. The exams are challenging, so definitely utilize resources like unstuck AI along with the practice quizzes to prepare. Overall, a worthwhile class if you're willing to put in the effort.
Professor Washburn is a great teacher and person. You must attend all lectures to understand what will be asked in the four exams you will have in his class. He will always help people who struggle with their material and tests. Do not get scared if you do not do well in the first exam, as he will let you retake it with the feedback he gives you.
Washburn is a good guy. His lectures are engaging and he brings real world topics into discussions. Attendance is not taken, but missing a class could mean doing poorly on the next exam. All exams are written, and all content in your essay has to be from lectures or the textbook (no internet research).
He's a great professor although he was not super fond of me. His teaching style keeps class very interesting. His passion and hilarious stories on the information learned in class is contagious and makes you want to do well in the course. I wish the grading rubric for each exam was available on Canvas, as grades are sometimes unclear.
Professor Washburn is a nice guy, but you have to go to class. Exams are your entire grade and you need to remember every single detail to do well. He tells some wild stories but if they're true, he's lived a crazy life. Cool dude, but the class is tough if you're not super locked in.
Cool guy, made class entertaining. Clearly knowledgeable about what he does. Sometimes I felt like his grading was harsh/random and wish we had a rubric but didn't affect my grade too much.
Washburn is amazing. His lectures are interesting and he has a lot of fun stories to tell. Not sure if they are true or not but they are still fun to listen to. The only grades are exams and he is tough about grading them, but as long as you explain and are thorough you will be fine. All exams are completely open notes.
He's an extremely tough grader. The amount of effort you put into his exams are not reflected in your grade. Your entire grade is made up of 3 exams, 4 if you decide to take the optional exam. He's a funny guy with lots of stories, but its very hard to do well in his class.
