I thought he was very knowledgable but did not teach at a Mesa College level.
He is fairly easy, but really is a stickler to details. Only a few assignments, so if you do quality work you'll be ok.
Few assighnments but he is very meticulous on essays, also he has some pretty close minded point of views.
He might be lacking in tact, and his personality is gruff and hard, but if you want to get a solid grasp on how to write a college paper that will earn you an A take a class with this man. He's not easy, and he's not nice, but he's very very good.
This teacher has flavor. He is not the Average boring teacher. He can bother students because he gets them to look outside their bubble. I'm glad I took this class!!!
Interesting person, but is nice. Grades hard on reports. Only have three reports and can do an extra credit report. No tests! Can be very hard to talk to and changes subjects all the time. Gives people a hard time, but just wants to make you think.
Don't take him if you want the ordinary predictable teacher. Can be an emotional roller coaster, but he forces you to think, and you will succeed if you like a challenge.
Edmundson taught me more about writing a quality essay than all of my teachers combined. His class is somewhat challenging if you procrastinate. Assignment dates aren't clear

This guy talks like the teacher from Ferris Bueller's Day Off. He sucks his pen like a cigar, and he looks up in the sky instead of the student. He lets you conform your paper how you like it. Doesn't really give guidlines. Whole class final paper!
I made the mistake of trying to get to know the guy. He showed me some of his writing and it was absolutely horrible! He grades very subjectively and rewards mediocrity. Does not understand the concept of teaching.

If you want an easy english class take this guy I only had 3 papers one wich was the whole class as the final. Altough the structure was easy this guy is a jerk. He'll ask for your opinion on something and then tell you you're wrong. but I got a B.

In the beg. of class, he seemed crazy and hard. But I stayed in his class and he turned out to be really good. I loved his class!

yea the pen thing is true, and he walks around speakin some jiberish, but i spent less time on papers and got higher grades than i did in high school, and hes not helpful because his whole point is to become independant and think for yourself, i know some of you have trouble with that

This is a very intellectual man who knows what he is talking about. He may seem really hard and mean the first day, but he just does that to kick the stupid and immature people out of the class. You can learn alot from this brilliant man. Don't be stubborn and listen to what he has to say. very good
He's kind of intimidating in the beginning, however, he is one of the best teachers I have had. He's inspiring and over-all an excellent teacher, writer, and person. He still kind of scares me a bit, but I'm going to take him for Eng 205 because I know I will definetly learn much more from him.
you should take his class if you don't wanna stay in classroom 80min. He doesn't teach you much, so you pay him for nothing, he just wanna leave class and go to LRC. look for him during his class time, he will be there with his favorite newspaper! It's all about "critical thinking" babe!
Most of the class he is pretty intimadating. Class was easy, but you have to think, less then 1/2 the syllabus was done. He basically scares you to respond / not to respond. Nice guy but annoying in how he teaches. Essays, simply express yourself out of sincerity, stay to the end & get a good grade
He is a bright guy and gives you ample time to turn on your essays. He grades pretty fairly and makes it clear what he wants to see. Extremely intimidating. the pen thing is true. don't take this guy if you arent interested in learning english and want a class youll just fly by in.
Man is this guy wierd. He likes to intimidate people but his class was pretty easy. He has some interesting things to say and if you ask him nicely he'll probably read you some parts of his book (which is mostly erotica). His directions for the class are very unclear. honestly I don't know why mr edmundson is rated so low. if you put in the work in his class you will get the grade. he makes the concept of critical thinking clear through many examples and he let's you know exactly what he wants. and if you don't know then you can ask him. I'm out

This professor is extremely rude. He blatantly insults and demeans his students. He changes test dates and due dates like it's going out of style. You never know what to expect. Halfway through a research essay, he'll change the topic or cancel it. Don't think I heard him talk to us more than twice

Tough grader. Prepare to work. I remember copying a whole room a chalkboards each class before he even started teaching for the day.
This is a teacher that tells it like it is. I don't know why he's rated so low either. If you do the work and show effort, he'll pass you. He'll definitely give clear examples on how critical thinking is used on everyday life. People complain about his forwardness, but by the end of it all I didn't even have a final!
Prof. Edmundson has no clear curriculum does no actual teaching of any sort. If you are not already confident in your writing abilities, don't take his class for you will learn nothing. Grades appear to be entirely arbitrary. Easily the worst professor I've ever encountered at Mesa.
He uses lecures to convey the point of critical thinking. As long as you stay for the whole semester and learn to use the examples from the MLA you'll probably pass. Make sure your papers look just like the MLA wants and you'll get good grades on your papers. Oh yeah, make sure to use spell check. He only takes off for grammar.
Ronn is a fine english teacher. I kinda liked it when he set dates back for papers and tests. If your planning on taking any classes with him be sure to have your book the first day. Heres more advice, he is going to talk alot and its not going to make alot of sense but somewhere in his words of confusion are alot of inspiring ideas. good luck
His the best teacher mesa campus has his a role model for every student at MESA COLLEGE students that took him and didn't get anything from his lectures are the failures especially the ones that think that Ronn Wasn't helpful at all
I did not like him personally because he does try and bully the students into thinking he is always right. But he is clear on what he wants to see in the essays. His grading is very lax. He just wnated to see structure and not much else.
most of the things said above are typical of those who have the idea that that a certian ethinc groups is "scary." there is nothing intimidating about him. some of the children above have sterotypical ideals about black men and it shows in class and in their so called evaluation of his teaching style. do the work right and you will EARN an A.

Very good teacher. All he wants you to do is form your own opinion on the readings. If you do, it will be an easy "A". There is a writing assignment every day but it usually isn't graded.
Professor Edmundson wants to inspire his students and those that aren't there to learn are not going to enjoy his class. He opens the door way to creativity and expression it's up to you to walk through.

I didn't like this teacher at all. I think he might be bias when he grades his papers because there was one paper that I wrote that I completely BSed, wrote the night before, and did not agree w/what I was writing and I got an A, but on our last paper that I was very passionate about and spent a lot of time on I got a C.
I found the first few weeks of lecture to be very profound. It was about why students should attend college and universities and why education is important. His underlying concepts didn't hit me until recently. Too bad I withdrew from the course because I didn't do the research paper :v It turns out deadline was extended multiple times :(

I have to say that I have never been in a class like this one. I felt like each class was a new class. I was very frustrated with having assignments done then he changed what he wanted for the assignment after everyone had done it. I wouldnt take his class again just because of the lack of clarity.
Very unprofessional. First day of class came in late and right off started pontificating -I thought he was high. The man sure does like to hear himself talk! One of the worst teachers I have ever had. He liked me; therefore, the class was super easy. But many people suffered.

Edmundson is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Not only does he love to teach, but he makes you a much better writer and critical thinker even if you don't notice right away. You'll be thankful you took him because HE DOES TEACH well, just be willing to learn from all he says and does. I took him for both 105 and 205 and got A's on both.
I have always excelled in English, but after taking this course got my first D English grade ever!! This wasn't a class, this was detention. He told the class none of our parents wanted us and alternated from telling us to show up more to class vs. to just leave, the door was right there!! He even had one of the students teach the class a few times

Most frustrating teacher I ever had. It doesn't seem like he cares about his students at all. He always puts you in groups and sends you away to work on your own, which never works because not everyone learns that way. Anyone who isn't self motivated will definitely fail.

Quite an enigma. Showed up to class almost always 10 minutes late, and would start off the day with incoherent rambles about "staying in the game", and the "game of life." Best thing about the class was that the wasn't much of a grader. No matter what you wrote, you almost always got at least a "B".

This is not a class for any student looking to breeze on through. Professor Edmunson is a very challenging and interesting teacher. His pedagogy is to prepare you for the future. While this class is tougher than your usual eng. 101 course, Edmundson creates an environment where one is challenged and prepared for their future.

He gave everyone in class a 79 on the first paper and everyone a 75 on the second paper. Did he read any of the papers? I think not. He was not helpful in class. All he talks about was himself. The readings had nothing to do with the essays. Don't take his class.

We had to write a paper on our assets and deficits, what college we want to go to, and "the logic of" Walker, Du Bois, Griffin, Keller, etc. Wish I would of dropped this class. This guy is impossible. He's very belittling, rude, and yells. He didn't follow the sylabus, so a bunch of us missed a "pop" midterm. What kind of teacher has a pop midterm?? Then he tried to drop all of us, even though i had been getting good grades for the most part, and was almost always there. Don't take him, he'll ruin your semester :(.
Everyone who is bad-mouthing edmundson are the ones who don't take class seriously. And he booted you out. He pushes you to write extremely well and knows when you are trying to BS him. I find him entertaining and very resourceful. He is, without a doubt, the best English teacher i have ever had. I am still enrolled with him. He is very mellow.
Oh and I received an 85 on the first paper when others thought everyone got a 79. And i received an 89 on the "walker-Our mothers gardens" essay. I made 2 grammar mistakes which dropped me 10% so i would have had a 99%. I can honestly say i have never written a better paper in my life. I push myself to get B's because Edmundson is tough but fair
CRITICAL thinking. He will help you master that skill. As long as you show you can use your brain, put LOTS of effort in what you do, and meet the deadlines you are his A student. Looking for an easy A? Don't take Edmundson. Class started out with 30+ people and by the end of it we ended with just 8. He rambles and never does look you in the eyes, but he is smarter than most people give him credit for. Habitually will say two really annoying phrases "people, PEOPLE" and "isn't that the easiest thing you've ever done?"

I do think this is a difficult professor - he is very abstract in the way he delivers information (and I am a very concrete learner). But if you stick it out and do the reading/assignments, you will do fine. I am a much better critical thinker having taken this class.
All I can say is that I wish I'd known about this site before I signed up for his class. I would have definately chosen a different teacher. He is awful. Until the 6th week, thought he was the most ridiculous professor ever. He is very knowledgeable. I'm a concrete learner & everything he teaches is abstract and nowhere near the point. If you do the reading assignments/talk to him one-on-one you will do fine. hes a difficult grader but his class is actually beneficial to learning critical thinking.
People being spazzes about Prof. Edmundson are people that expect to be handed their educations with no ability to think critically. He is difficult. He loves metaphors. He has a lot to say and a message to give, if you're willing to receive it. Take this class if you're willing to earn your grade and learn a lot about yourself.

I just finished Eng 101 with this professor. If you want to be spoon fed all the answers so you can regurgitate them back for your grade, don't take this class. On the other hand if you want to use your brain and creatively craft essays based on your own analysis of the reading material then this is the course for you.
Out of 118 teachers listed for English at Mesa this guy is hands down, the WORST teacher I have ever had. He explains nothing and expects you to know everything. And you must see it his way, or else you are wrong. He gives no instructions on how to turn your paper in, And he doesn't care if you work F/T or in the military. There are no excuses.
From so far what I've read in here, the postive comments and the negative comments about him are all agreeable. His class is hard but possible to do well in it if you try ALL THE WAY. Not one BS accepted. I think majority of people find him hard to approach so communication with him to get things clear is what makes people struggle in this class.

I took him for both Eng 105 & 205 and is the absolute best decision ever! He is a tough teacher, but you'll learn from him if you just LISTEN! You'll learn to not just read to read, but to critical think as you are reading. Not an easy A to get, but worth it!
Save yourself the trouble and time and DO NOT take his class. He is condescending and rude. He does not make clear what he wants from you or your essays, but becomes irate when you do not magically know how to meet his exact specifications. I honestly felt like he hated every single student and had no desire to teach us or see us succeed.
Yes, he is sarcastic, condescending and loves to use metaphors but I think it's to push the students as far as they can go and make them think about what he is saying. Wow, what a hard class. If you want a quality education take this class. If feel inferior to Edmundson's teaching standards don't take this class. It's a challenge. Everyone giving Edmundson a poor grade are individuals who see Mesa as a continuation of high school. One thing is certain, you will learn to write after taking this class.

Glad this class is almost over. Taking this was a challenge. Edmundson's teaching skills are unconventional. But he is a great teacher. You will learn a lot about writing and life. This isn't your average will do my work and get an A. You have to do the work and try your best.

I ended up getting an "A" in this class but that was because i always showed up to class and i did well on the essays (5 total). He is definitely a nice guy and understands what you write but make sure to figure out how he expects your essays to be formatted and spaced. Make sure you talk to him from time to time and he will like you.

Best English teacher I've ever had. He prepares students for real college level. Most people in his class expect high school work. But be ready to work be creative. He's know a lot about school and life. Thanks to him I'm transferring into a great school and I couldn't be happier.
I must admit I was scared, he is intimidating, and the way he talks was not very clear. Once you get past that first impression you will realize he is very helpful, he gives you examples, and tips. You have to earn your grade, talk to him so he knows who you and remembers you when he's grading. Please answer when he asks questions and attend class.
I am an "A" student and barely received my first "B" in this class. He is confusing and cryptic when he talks in class, he does not write on your assignments, I have a feeling he doesnt even read them. He expects you to improve, but with no feedback at all thats very hard. I felt like I wasted my time here, I didnt learn a thing to be honest.
I gotta say, he is scary at first. He preaches at first, but the things he says are actually very usefull and real. Sometimes I didn't want to listen to him, but half way through the semester, he actually had really great to say. He liked our class and dropped a couple of assignments and gave us a take home final. Ask for help and he'll like you.
At first all my friends told me to drop him, but I decided to stick it out. I'm glad I did. He's different than most other teachers. I did the work and got some help with my papers and ended up with a B to my surprise.I thought it was odd we were studying a lot of black historical figures, kind of an agenda. but interesting perceptions and concepts

It is true that he fills the white board instead of lecturing, which I actually liked (as I could read other class stuff if I had to while he did this)but his handwriting is hard to read at times. His insights into the real world are valuable though, so if you get him, try to understand his philosophy of the world, it is unique. Bad teacher tho.
Hands down the worst teacher I have ever taken. Rambles about nothing, grades are based on his whims and fills four whiteboards with utterly useless notes. Don't take this teacher unless you want to receive a D or lower. I would suggest that if you are in his class you run straight to the Department chair and get your list of complaints ready now.
One of the most unusual English instructors ever! He continuously emphasizes creative and critical thinking in the essays, and initially you think he will cultivate an excellent writer out of you, but he fails miserably to do so. He provides no encouragement or guidance in your writing, only rambles useless information irrelevant to the class.
So his class is great if you know how to write a proper essay. He demands from his sttudents what any university level English professor would. Know the basic outlay of an essay and how to create a thesis and you'll do fine.
Class act. Only mature, self motivated, open minded students should enroll. University level instructor, no non-sense type of guy. Make mistakes, yes! Wish he had continued entire semester with text's readings & critical thinking exercises. Will I take him again? For sure!
Never had a teacher quite like him. At first I thought the class was going to be hell. English is my worst subject but his class is not typical English. Works more with working your mind over basic English. Turned into a very interesting class that made me think and will benefit me more then typical English class.
If you pay attention to the words he says as monotone as they sound and you might learn something, about not only English, but about life and yourself. If you don't understand something, go up to him and ask him to clarify after class! As intimidating as he may seem, he's actually a really nice guy.
This class is not for close-minded, lazy, Ignorant people. He may seem boring and monotone at first, but if you listen to his words you might learn something about yourself and become a better writer as well as a better person. I got an A in the class and am so glad I had the opportunity to meet and learn from this incredibly brilliant professor.
If you are smart, open-minded, and willing to work hard, you will get a good grade. If you are confused, approach him after class, he is actually a really nice, personable man.

Really nice guy, doesn't read your essays and you get an A as long as you meet the requirements. He is really profound at times, but he knows what he's talking about. He will check to see if you are doing your essay correctly if you ask him to look over your essay.
Keep in mind, this is a class designed to make you think. The prof. will not hand you the answers. He speaks in metaphors most of the time. Research papers provided the opportunity to learn/apply proper MLA format while investigating potential universities, and ways to finance our education. Keep an open mind, make an effort, learn from mistakes.
He is the BEST teacher! If you attend every class, you will understand and pass! If you have trouble, you HAVE to go to his office hours and he will help you. He doesn't explain rally anything, he wants you to figure it out. He likes his essays a certain way. You must do it his way. If you care, and pay attention, you're set!!
I have no idea why this man teaches English. His instructions make no sense, his lectures are irrelevant nonsense, and to show I'm not just saying this I brought all the notes and work I did for his class at which the dean of the English department encouraged me to file a formal complaint. Your essays can be trash as long you follow MLA closely*
Nice person but a different teaching style than what most students are use to. Really cares about students if they show interest. If you don't want to think critically for an100% of the class then don't take it. He's a tough grader.
I wouldnt recommend taking the class but if you HAVE to this is how to pass. MLA MLA MLA. He doesnt even read your essay, all he cares about is if you used proper MLA. If your MLA is not right he will hand back! All you have to do is buy the required MLA book and follow it exactly. Do the Work cited page and thesis outline right and youll get a B
I highly recommend every student to take his class. I learned more in Mr. Edmundsons class then any other class I've ever taken. He has a great outlook on life and has useful insight, not just having to do withvwriting and English but in life. He seems mean at first but he is actually the nicest guy ever! I'm taking 205 with him this fall semester.

Professor Edmundson is a classy individual. He wants his students to comfortably move between a critical point of view in regards to their environment and interweave creativity to help expand life perceptions. Honestly, this man teaches for the enrichment of everyone's life. Enjoy the feeling of having literary power, take this class.

Save yourself the stress and don't take this class. Just trust me. Professor Endmundson uses the same analogies in each lecture (and poorly at that), doesn't explain what we should actually do in class, and harasses and publicly humiliates students during the class period. DO NOT TAKE!
Edmundson is a very confusing teacher, who uses analogies only he understands, he will ask you a question and then just destroy if you are wrong, he has no problem taking students down for fun and has just a very confusing teaching style. not recommended. Not very helpful at all and doesnt really teach anything in class.
Pr. Edmundson is intimidating at first. His teaching stragedy is mostly open class discussions. So if you are a bit shy it can get uncomfortable. He's a pretty fair grader and gives plenty of time to do the assignments. You bring a few drafts and correct them before your final draft is due. The readings are interesting and inspires you to think.
Steer clear of this class, if at all possible! Prof. Edmundson has no problem degrading student's work in front of the entire class. Additionally, he does not teach what students are there to learn--creativity and critical thinking skills. Instead, he makes it a point (each class) to ramble on about his life and the way he views the world.

I DO NOT find this instructors' teaching methods useful at all. He does not clarify on the objectives he assigns, he uses analogies most of the class time about nonsense that has nothing to do with the material, and he does not ask students if they need help. All he does is write on the board and expect his students to understand it.
Only 4 Essay assignments. Not very hard if you maximize your time to the essays and reading. His lectures are filled with analogies and correlates with the reading. So, to pass the course, you must attend for his lectures and read the books assigned (Not hard). Highly recommend NOT to use SparkNotes because your essays MUST have page citations!!
WORST TEACHER EVER! DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO STAY AWAY FROM HIS CLASS. Biggest hypocrite I've ever met. His syllabus listed 5 mandatory books and we only read one. Lectures are irrelevant to the class. Very demeaning to students if you don't agree with his opinions and views. Choses favorites and has fun at the expense of involved students. Terrible!
Professor Edmundson produced his syllabus 2 weeks late. He does very little. There is barely any feedback on essays, and he is often absent on the exact days he requires students to attend. While he can give feedback, his lectures are philosophical babble that has almost nothing to do with the curriculum. He also talked down to students.
4 papers the whole semester plenty of time to complete them. He specifically specifies on what he wants in it so follow his lead and you'll get an A. If the instructions aren't clear, then ask, because he'll gladly answer. He drags conversations on forever (suggestions for your paper) long lectures, BUT. Really helpful if you make use of it.
This class consists of 4-5 essays that are preety easy if you follow his format. Dont bother getting the books. You can read them online. His notes help with the essays. Hes a nice guy.
HE IS BRILLIANT. Written books & went to Brown. He knows his stuff I promise. His notes are a PAIN but helpful when writing essays. He will not hand u answers, but If you come to him with actual questions and a general thought process or idea he WILL help. He is a teacher that wants u to want it. I LEARN A LOT.

This professor claims he has multiple degrees and has written many books. All he talks about is his perception on education , and how much of a cerebral thinker you should be. Sadly , i have not learned anything taking his class. Notes on the board first weeks of class , he does not teach !! he sits there and talk about meaningless life perceptions

On the first day of class there was over 50 people. By the last week there was 7 of us left. If you turn in all the assignments and show up to most classes you can definitely pass. I ended up with a B somehow and dont consider myself a very good writer.
Worst Professor I've ever had, I recommend to stir clear of this class. On the first day of class he told everyone that half the class was going to fail and that he only wants 10 students in his class. I haven't learned anything in his class all semester and his notes are far beyond confusing. He just rambles during the whole class period.
Prof. Edmundson has very particular and strict grading criteria for his essays. If you meticulously follow his criteria and you are already a strong writer then you should do fine. He often came across as condescending, which was frustrating at times. Definitely took a lot of willpower to get through this class.
By far the worst teacher that I have ever had the misfortune of having. We started with about thirty students and ended with about eight. The course consisted of assigned reading and then writing an essay. He doesn't give much feedback for how long he spends grading them. He does no teaching and is a pseudo professor with a chip on his shoulder.
I didnt learn anything while taking this course. he ends class extremely early, and lets you go as soon as you finish copying the notes off the board. Talks down on students, and has made a few cry. Everyday Id come to class and leave pissed off at a comment hes made at a student, and not one thing learned. Never went back to be honest.
This professor is unpredictable and takes a lot of getting used to so be careful. In a way this could be an easy class, because you can go and end up sitting there listening to him talk about random stuff while copying down some notes, then you can leave once you're done with the notes. He really doesn't give much feedback on assignments though.

Constantly refers to his book he wrote (you've never heard of it) or other schools he's taught at (wonder why he isnt still there). Gives vague feedback and answers questions with questions. Dropped after a few weeks. Take literally anyone else.
I was only graded on four papers. Three individual papers one was a reseach paper. The final the professor gave us an option to take an idividual final or have a group project. As a class we worked together and made one paper to turn in. The professor doesn't care if you show up, as long as you turn in your papers on time.
Not caring, he spends a good part of the class talking about how technology is destroying our world, and about his experiences in life. Gave everyone C. He thinks that the good essays are the one that "break the box", whatever that means. Definitely take another professor
The entire semester is graded off 2-3 papers and one quiz. The lectures are not about the English language or critical thinking, instead he rambles about living your life properly, sprinkled with comments about his mistress. I cant say I learned anything in this class. Attendance is never taken. There are no handouts, just illegible writing.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. Hes very rude and EXTREMELY vague when it comes to explaining what you need to do for essays, which is basically what the entire English 101 class consists of. He also doesnt follow the syllabus and I ended up writing an entire 10 page essay (which is what the directions said to do) only for him to change it last minute.
loved this professor, he was very nice and inspirational if you dont act out in class and monkey around youll get along. walk in to class take notes and leave. only 2-3 papers all semester but I learned more in this class then in many english classes.

This is a horrible Professor I have ever taken. Comes in at the beginning of the class and expect his students to jot down whatever there is on the board with his sloppy cursive handwriting and students are not allowed to ask any questions until hes finished with his sloppy handwritten notes on the chalkboard. Assignments are not clear.
Professor Edmunson rambles on and on and on about absolute nonsense. You do not learn anything during class, and then you have a paper due. Also, everything you do in this class will be about African American history and Jesus. All of the books, and all of his references are about african american history and jesus and moses and whoever else. 1/10.

Gives you essays to write with no instructions on how to write it, insults the students, and acts like the class is a joke. Because it is. I had to drop the class, sadly. Complete waste of time. He doesn't care about the class at all, doesn't respond to emails, and gives the same assignments to his 101 class and 205 class. There was absolutely no guidance, no lectures, and he gave everyone an 85% on every paper because of the "poor organization". This prof should NOT be a teacher, and is a money thief.
The worst teacher I have ever had in my entire life. Doesn't know how to use zoom properly, most classes were taught from his car, with no preparation before the class. I haven't learned a single thing in his class. Now I know to check rate my professor. All he talks about is his idea of wisdom, gives 3 bullet points for assignments and feedback.
This professor doesnt have a clear lesson plan, each day you walk into his class, he expects you to copy a whole board of notes and its not clearly written or explained.
The other reviews are accurate. The lectures are non sensical, and comprise of ineligible notes on the board. There is no organization of the class, and you will struggle to understand what hes talking about let alone what the assignment is. Do not take.

Hands down one of the worst professors I have ever had... He preached the whole time about irrelevant life lessons. Taught the same things without clarity for each assignment. Every time I did EXACTLY what he asked, I got a 75% but when I wrote the way I already knew how to, I got 100% both times. He is unclear, unorganized and a waste of time.
I signed up for an online class thinking it would be easier than having to drive to school and back.... This professor would NEVER show his face during class. Almost NEVER spoke. He would only 'type' his lectures into the chat box. HORRIBLE. DO NOT TAKE! One time he logged into class while in court for jury duty....
Professor Edmundson was one of the best instructors I have ever taken. I am an older student, in my 50's. I understand his approach and I got out what I put in. The course is critical thinking, but I see very little of that from the students. I believe they want to have everything spelled out for them, but this is not the purpose of the class.
This was one of the worst teachers I've come across ever. I left the class 20 minutes in because of how inappropriate/sexist/sexual he was being. He was asking a student if she wanted to be a kindergarten teacher because the kids were pure innocent virgins. I could not see myself being able to learn anything in that weird environment.

Ronn Edmundson is the best teacher I have ever had. He teaches a simplistic, yet extremely effective form of writing and assigns writing assignments that, if effort is put into, gives you opportunities to reflect on your life, future, and the world around you. His lectures are full of life-changing wisdom, I wish I recorded them to listen back on.

Do not take this class if you genuinely want to learn about writing. His lectures and notes are unclear; his papers make you dive deeper on yourself, and I loved that. His lectures are out of pocket and make no sense but they will make you smile most of the time. I didn't learn anything about English, but I enjoyed the class overall.
Edmundson's class is a mixed bag - his lectures can be unclear, but engaging. The assignments are tricky, yet rewarding. unstuck ai and the free textbook were lifesavers for acing this course.
