I highly recommend Mr. Yates.He makes sure u understand. He is a reasonable grader. He is really helpful and know what he is teaching. I would take his class again.

I took his WebCT class and i really like it cause he doesn't only emphasize on math but also on the history of math. It is really cool to learn how everything came from + learning what we are suppossed to learn at the same time. When having a question he answers really fast. I give him five stars.

Very easy teacher. Alot of useful, clear notes to help understand the material. I thought the workload was a little much, but it works to balance out your final grade. I definitely recommend this teacher!

I had to take this class online, but it turned out okay. The teacher is very good about answering postings and staying up with the discussions. I wish that the quizes and tests had more questions so the grading would be a little better. Only about 7 questions on quizes and 20 on examines leaves little for error. Good class over all.

I took Professor Yates Spring 08 for Math 122 and Fall for 123. 122 was easy cause it was a campus class. I feel 123 was harder because it was online and Math is not easy to learn online. Overall, he's an excellent instructor.

Took online section. Easy and convenient. I learned as long as I did the homework!

This is a great online class! If you are willing to actually DO the homework, and PRACTICE the problems you definitely can pass this class. He gives you all the tools you need to succeed(use the course notes,they are very helpful) I came into this class without a strong mathematical foundation, and he makes the class interesting and not overwhelming, although I found the class to be difficult but definitely doable. I have to admit, I actually enjoyed this class and I am sad it has ended! I never thought I would say that in a million years!!

This professor is AWESOME! I am really bad at Math (as in I don't know anything but basic math) so I took Professor Yates Math 93 online class. He helped me understand the problems and the materials (books) he used were very effective. You take the tests on campus. For someone who's dumb in Math it was an easy A.

This was one of the best professors. i was able to go ahead and complete as many assignments as i was comfortable taking them. absolutely loved this online class.

Took Math 97 online. Professor Yates is excellent, but no matter how good he is, it was a tough class. I think I may have done better taking it in class, I will for math 124 for sure. Professor Yates is excellent, he lets you use calculators on the test. Nothing can replace knowing the material though.

Online. The book is GREAT and he co wrote it. Real life math and put into such practical applications along with brief segments of math giants of history for each chapter. He has professional, fast and pleasant e-communication. He is concise and clear, this man is an awesome online instructor. I would take him again, highly recommended.

Online class. I wish I could take more with R Yates. He is smart, clear, precise, fair, helpful, quick to reply, the best all around. His book is great, easily understood. Math 120 should be required in addtition to 124 or others. It is unique, will prepare you for many real life math applications. Take it and take him, you will be glad you did.

Easy class overall. Hw problems are easy if you view the examples. However, I feel as if there were WAY too many hw problems for a 10 question quiz and a 20 question exam. The most hw problems I had was 80. The last exam was cumulative for 11 chapters and there were only 25 questions. But overall, easy class. Just do the work.

On-line class. GREAT Professor - responds very quickly, explains things very well.

I suck at math but I got a B in this class And i worked hard to get it.this class is not that easy but if i can pass it so can anyone else.there is no make up or second chances for the quizzes like in other classes but if you put the work in and read the material you can get a good Grade.the exams are easier than the quizzes.I recommend this class.

Took this class during the summer semester. Too much work to absorb in 6 weeks. 3 quizzes or 2 quizzes/1 exam weekly. You do not have the time to absorb the information. If you are not a good math student, do not take in the summer. Professor as an instructor was helpful and answered email promptly.

Yates is a very clear guy. Theres 1 quiz a week due thurs by 8, and 3 tests (which you have to take at the school). You can have one pg notes and calc for exams. He wrote the textbook and its a good one. I would recommend buying a hard copy though. My advice... do the homework questions... I got a C, but i didn't put in that much effort.

The material was hard, but if you follow the advice given (read the text, do the homework, print and read the notes, and ask questions), you will be fine. This is not a class for slackers. It's not easy to get a good grade, but it's not impossible either. Professor Yates is smart, funny, clear, and communicative. I'm taking him again for Math 123.

Weekly quizzes. Three tests. Very easy class. The teacher is very helpful and even has notes set up for you to study from. The books aren't really necessary if you're already good at math and understand the concepts.

My math skills are very basic (no algebra) but I manage to get an "A" in this course and so can you. 8 weeks course, 2 quizzes/week, and 3 exams. You allow to bring calculator and one paper of your notes to the exams.Make sure to fallow the instructions on the syllabus,study the book and learn from your mistakes on the quizzes and you'll do fine.

Took the 6 week online course over the summer & enjoyed this course more than I thought I would! There's 12 quizzes 3 exams, something due almost every other day. He wrote the Math book & I loved it! It relates to real issues & makes math funeasy to understand without the typical math jargon you find in textbooks! Put in work and you'll do fine.

I took Professor Yates for Math 120 online and I was very apprehensive at first. My math skills are minimal and I wasn't sure if I would be able to grasp the concepts necessary to pass the class. Lucky me, I scored a perfect class! The book is written by him and is written to encourage understanding. Do the suggested work and reach out for help :)

I am not a math person but this math class made sense. The math that is taught is used in every day life, which makes it much easier to work through. The videos and power points were extremely helpful and the text book was in sync with the modules. Best and most sensible math class I've taken. Ever. Had I worked harder I would have had an A

Yates is an incredible online professor. Use your resources in Canvas (videos, notes, etc) and you will do fine. He is fair but strict with his syllabus and guidelines which makes perfect sense (we are in college after all). Math for elementary education majors is no joke! Seriously.

Pretty simple class, a quiz almost every week, with three proctored exams. Study guides are pretty large to every chapter. Mr. Yates is pretty available and responded to all my questions fairly quickly. Would take class again!

It's a pretty basic math class. One quiz per week and an exam every two chapters. You're allowed calculators and a page of notes for the proctored exams. There's no homework or assignments but you do need to take the weekly quiz. You will need the textbook with a code. He's pretty quick to respond. It's an easy A if you put in the time.

My struggles with algebra kept me from getting my degree. After 6 years (yes, I'm that dumb with algebra), I was able to take Math 120. This is NOT an algebra class, and you don't have to memorize formulas. Great professor! Responds quickly. One page notes (front & back) for proctored exams, weekly quiz. Videos and other study tools are helpful.

Professor Yates was so accessible and provided many ways to be successful. Online videos, practice worksheets, and discussion boards where students could help each other. He was always right there to answer and quickly. Answers within a few hours. Regardless of math skill level, if you do the work, you will make it through this class. Fantastic!

Professor Yates' on-line class was great! It moves at a nice pace, and the book (that he co-wrote) is very good, and easy to understand. Learn the material, do the practice problems, use other study resources, you will do fine on quizzes and exams, and get a good grade. He responds very fast to questions, including about quizzes and exams.

Normally I would never take a math class online, but Prof. Yates class was set up great. One quiz ea week, three exams. Exams are in test center, but you are allowed one page front and back of notes to use. Final exam is course cumulative. Watch his videos, read his notes, do your work and you will pass.

This class is a little tough if you aren't very good at math. There are no homework assignments which seems nice but that also means all your grades come from tests and quizzes. There is a quiz each week and three exams that are taken on campus. you really only use the book for the history questions. He's super nice but there is no extra credit.

This online class was great. Read the text then you get lots of opportunity to apply what you learn from exercises in the text, online powerpoint, quizzes and study games. One test each week, three exams. Prof. Yates is accessible and usually answers emails in the discussion forum same day. Loved this class and I was scared of math.

Great Professor. Gives good lectures. Only opened the book for the occasional math-related history questions he asks. Take notes & practice with the study tools he gives and you'll pass easy. 12 Quizzes, 10 questions each. 3 exams, 20 questions each. All multiple choice. Only one thing due per week. Exams are in person, but notes are allowed.

Took Math120 online with Professor Yates. He is very helpful, and explains everything very well. He wrote the textbook, which is helpful! Quiz every week, three exams, and you're done. No homework at all. As far as Math goes, he's as easy as it is going to get.

Mr. Yates is by far one of the best professors. Took his online Math120. It shows by his quick response that he cares. If you don't ask for help, he will not know you need it. SO, ASK AWAY. No homework, lots of 10 point quizzes you can take from home, 3 proctored exam but allowed a page of notes, front/back, and a scientific calculator.

Honestly one of the best professors I have ever had. You can tell he genuinely cares about his students and their success. Course expectations were clearly laid out. The textbook and PowerPoints were very helpful. Learned things that I didnt already know it was fun and interesting.

The notes were helpful and well explained, which helped me understand the lessons. The videos were wonderful, as they were detailed and engaging. In depth emails clearly outlined expectations, and there was strong communication and support. Quizzes and tests were straight forward and from the material we covered.

The content and the way the class is laid out is phenomenal. It was very organized with clear instructions and expectations. I loved that every assignment had a video or PowerPoint to explain everything in detail. The book was very well written and was even fun to read. His videos were exceptional and I learned a lot from them.

I absolutely loved this professor. He was very understanding and had very clear expectations. The only downside to this course that I did not like was that it was on an alternate dashboard than canvas so, until I got used to checking another dashboard, I was missing assignments because I could not see them with my other upcoming assignments due.

Great Professor! He made Math much easier to understand. In 120E he has a quiz due every week and 3 tests a semester. Each quiz is open note. If you need help, do not hesitate to ask him.

The videos and PowerPoints were really good, and the book gave clear instructions. I liked that each week we learned something different and went step by step. I also liked having the freedom to complete work at my own pace.

I took an 8-week summer course and my grade was almost completely determined by the three exams. He drops the lowest quiz score which is nice. Great material, he wrote the textbook but it's wonderfully helpful and covers topics that ACTUALLY matter in the real world. Had the pleasure of taking Yates for math 122 and 123. I was actually waitlisted for his math 123 last sem due to a wrongful academic hold. I had the opportunity to take the class with a diff prof, but I held out for Yates. It was well worth it, I got an A both times in his class - one of my all time fav teachers at CSN

I love this man so so much. He has always been very helpful throughout the semester. This was the second time I have had him since I took him last semester for Math 122. He has always been amazing and his content isn't too bad. He reaches out a ton and always responds fast to emails. He genuinely does care and provided me with a great experience.

This class is not an easy feat. It challenged me even more than math already does. The professor is great and does well with the video lectures. But if you do not watch the videos and read the notes... I'm telling you, you will NOT PASS. he always offers help. I recommend the professor but be prepared for not so easy quizzes every week and exams!!

Dr. Yates is so wholesome. I love him! No homework. He gives you 2 chances to do the quizzes and there are 3 proctored exams. But he allows you to have one page back and front of notes. The exams are structured similar to the quizzes.

Professor Yates was very descriptive in his teaching, and whenever a classmate had a question he always made sure to give a detailed answer and always made sure it was understood before moving on. Professor Yates is easily the best math instructor I've ever had. I've always been a C student in math classes, but something about the way he teaches clicked with me which made it a super easy course. He's very caring and will always help if you ask. Answers every question, fast communication, provides daily reminders, and records his lectures so you can watch at any time if you missed the remote class. If you fail it is because you did not try. I received a B because I didn't turn in the last half of the assignments and he doesn't accept late work. My first summer 6 wk course.

Dr Yates is very clear and explained in numerous ways, even if the topic seemed basic. I came into this class having been out of school for many years. I was surprised by his ability to help me connect to the lessons. He was an amazing instructor and I would definitely take a class of his again.

Dr Yates online lessons helped a lot, and the notes were really helpful as well. Being able to rewatch the lessons helped tremendously. He was always very helpful and kind. If we ever seemed stuck on material, he always helped. Even though it was online, his class environment was very safe and open.

Professor Yates teaching dynamics are phenomenal. I understand math better than I ever did before, and he was really helpful whenever I needed it. Unlimited attempts at the homework assignments was great. The homeworks and quizzes were good practice for the exams.

I took his Math 122 class in the fall, I am currently taking his 123, TAKE HIM! I've never understood math this good. ASK QUESTIONS, HE IS VERY HELPFUL.

Professor Yates is the most thorough & kind math teacher. I've always been intimidated by math and taking this class completely changed that. We had lecture twice/week covering a section of each chapter. Lectures are recorded. At the end of each week HW and a quiz were due for each section. A test at the end of each chapter. SO EASY. TAKE HIM!

This professor provided excellent instruction while caring about his students. He clearly is here to teach and wants his students to understand the material. The class was well organized and easy to follow, and Professor Yates was always nice when responding to questions or posting information. Math has never been my strong suit, but the book and class materials made it a breeze to learn. If I was lost at all, the videos Professor Yates provided filled in the gaps.

Professor Yates was able to explain complex math problems with ease and clarity. I actually dreaded having to take this math class but was able to understand, follow, and somehow master the concepts.
