Poor teaching skills. Not very helpful. No feedback.

Completely uncaring and unhelpful. He may know math but he is incompetent as a teacher. Avoid-Avoid-Avoid
Easy. You get three tests throughout the year, no final. He gives practice quizzes throughout the year, which are actually worksheets. Those are the exact problems on the tests, just with different numbers. He makes sure that you know what is on the test. He is a nice man, just unclear at times.

I think he's a pretty good teacher. I've never taken Calculus and I have a high A right now. He does so many examples it's almost impossible to not understand what he's teaching
horrible as teacher but SUCH AN EASY CLASS if you dont get an A you shouldnt be at UM
Such an easy teacher. Anyone reading this whether you be a freshman or not, if you want a very easy class and a chance to relax take Aboudi. There are only 3 tests which are the exact same thing as the practice quizzes he gives you! No quizzes, and no homework. The only drawback is that his classes get pretty boring, very nice guy as well.
Pretty easy teacher. Does a lot of examples which really help you to understand the material, only problem is they are REALLY boring. His tests are just like the practice quizes, which don't count for a grade. Nice guy though.
SO hard to understand because he has a very heavy accent. The class was really boring and I felt like he presented the material very poorly.
yo this class is so ****in easy i sleep and never go if you have ever taken calculus in your life 9and even if you have not) if you know the quizzes you will make an A on the test for sure
Really easy and nice guy. Don't need to buy the book, it's a waste of money! If you study the quizzes and the notes you are guaranteed an A!
This guy is great! If you have to take business calc take it with no one else except Aboudi. Hes very nice and some of his classes do get boring, but the many examples will help you in the long run. For the tests, just study your note examples and practice tests, and youll def get an A.
Go to class and do the quizes and you'll be fine. I never took Calc n I was ok and DON'T buy the book! you wont use it and as long as you understand the concepts in class you dont really have to worry about the exams.
He's a really nice guy and his class is super easy. DON'T BUY THE BOOK. I bought it and I haven't used it at all. There's basically no homework (except the quizzes he assigns but you don't have to do them cause he just gives you the answers in class). Go to class because you may fall behind if you don't.
he is THE man
Class consists of 3 tests, 3rd being the final. He takes attendance but IT DOES NOT COUNT. you do not need a textbook either. okay as far as teaching, i studied prior to exams and taught myself material and i always stunk at math. i would recommend him. also there is NO HW, class requires no outside work
Good Prof, but sometimes diffucult to understand.
He is so precious! He has such a cute little accent. He is easy especially if you took AP Cal in high school. Take him!!
extremely boring but easy if you study the review sheets that he hands out every class. a very nice guy
Aboudi is so sweet! And he's funny. His homework is relatively easy and he is VERY useful in his office hours. His class is kind of boring but he's such a fun guy, the kind of teacher you like to mess around with. Overall he's really nice and helpful. Tests aren't bad.
I was in his honors 201 and it was overly-difficult. He was unclear in his explanation of statistics and was not very helpful when it came to out of class help. The HW's took HOURS and they were collected and graded. He expects you to know the ins and outs of minitab without his thorough explanation, and he keeps class late a lot. Dont take!
If you took Calc in HS this will be easy. He's not completely clear, but compared to the other MAS 110's his 3 tests are EASY. Real nice guy, not a hard class at all. He has a little bit of an accent, he's from Israel. The tone in his class is really relaxed, I'd joke with him.
Homeworks once a week takea a lot of times,I spend more than 2 hours for every homeworks. I can't understand in the class, all I learned is copy the example and do the homeworks, and I have to remember the example to use it in the test. test is kind of hard if you don't do homework.
I took calc in hs and this class was way over my head. The honors section and regular seemed to be taught the same, which was awful for those of us in reg. Aboudi is a very nice guy and is always willing to help you outside of class. The class atmosphere is relaxed but he is not very clear and overall his class was one of my hardest 1st semester.
Took for MAS 110,201,&202. His first stats is real hard, the 2nd one not as bad. In the honors section he gives a curve, but doesnt admit to doing it. We had 5 ppl in our 202 section, really lax nature and a sweet guy. My bday was on the exam dates two yrs in a row and he brought something special to eat each time. work together on the hw, it helps
He's a good guy and loves laughing at his own jokes. But he's not a great teacher, he is very smart and expects everyone to know a lot already. He basically just writes everything on the board and expects you to learn on your own. Tests are alright as long as you teach yourself the topics. One homework given per week, not too bad but can get hard
his homeworks are extremely difficult but the exams aren't too bad. His final is almost impossible but it doesnt matter because he has a ridiculous curve at the end. He likes to go on bizarre tangents a lot too. If you're not good at calculus going into his class i wouldn't suggest taking him.
He has a bit of trouble understanding how you don't understand. But he's very willing to help you during office hours with the homework (I went every week) and puts curves on the test so they aren't so bad. Tests were usually much easier than the homework.
Poor teaching skills! DONT TAKE HIM !!! RUNS so fast on the material. class is super boring, nice chill guy, but makes subject extremely useful. 100% you will have to study on ur own. JUST DONT TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By far the worst math teacher at UM. if you get him drop it immediately
Very very mean and rude to most of his students. He full on did not give a daaaamn if you did well or not
He is a horrible teacher. He expects all the students to know everything before he even teaches. The whole class will sit there confused because he never answers any questions clearly!
The worst teacher at UM. Please read reviews below. If you get him, you NEED to drop him. Unless your cool with having the worst class experience you can imagine. It would be better to drop the class with a W four times in a row then take it and keep it once. Do whatever you need to get another MAS teacher. whatever it takes. Do not settle.
I choosing between taking this class again or having my friend go and get his car and repeatedly drive over my foot, I would not know which one to choose. God bless those who have to go through that class....
Horrible teacher, gives his lectures expecting his students to know everything before hand and does not explain anything well. You have to learn everything on your own.
The worst teacher I have ever had in my academic career. If you get him I strongly advise you to drop. He does not explain anything clearly and expects the whole class to know everything before he even gives his lectures. He is a nice guy but not in any way helpful or clear
Terrible teacher, moves through material extremely quickly, no one understands what he is saying. He doesnt help very much when you ask a question. The only grades are the tests which are very hard. Everyone just blindly copies down what he says in class. You have to start studying weeks in advance for his tests by readin the book its the only way.
Worst class I've taken in college. Don't ever take him!!
He is the worst teacher I have ever had at UM. He honestly enjoys failing students. This man does not deserve to teach at Miami. He brings everyones grades down. DONT. TAKE. HIM.
Anyone who is complaining about this course is clearly not a serious student. If you pay attention to the lectures, there is no way you wont do well on the tests. He is incredibly clear during his lectures and is more than happy to go back and re-explain anything if you are confused. If you pay attention and take notes, you will get an easy A.
Far and away the worst instructor I've had at UM. He seems to know what he's talking about, but can't explain it in a way that students will understand. Tests are not at all like what is taught in class or what is assigned for homework (yes, I did all the homework problems). Thank goodness he curved the class per the Business School's 3.0 rule
Very hard to understand, not only because of his poor teaching skills but he also has a thick accent. He only uses tests to calculate your grade, so forget getting any homework or projects points. Doesn't really seem to care if you pass or fail. Easily one of my least favorite professors at UM.
he's a really nice guy and really does try to help his students but he just has absolutely no idea how to teach-wouldn't recommend
Professor Aboudi is a great professor. He gives many examples to give you a clear understanding of the material. He gives pop quizzes, but you know when to expect them. As long as you do the homework, you will get an A on the pop quizzes. The pop quizzes and homework mirror the exams. If you try, you will get a good grade.
He is very all over the place with his notes in class. If you ask him specific questions from his homework's he doesn't answer them unless you see him during office hours. He takes A LOT of points of on tests. Super hard grader. Also puts things you haven't seen before on tests. Have fun
Nice guy, really boring class. He gives "pop" quizzes but it is really easy to tell when you are going to have one. The quizzes are exactly like the homework and the tests are all the quizzes put together. He goes over all the homework so as long as you know how to do the homework you will get an A
If you use your phone once, he marks you down a whole letter grade. Terrible at teaching, because it's hard to understand him. If you don't pay attention in class you are screwed, and you WILL have to resort to a textbook or tutor. Don't recommend taking him at all!
Oh my god he's so terrible. His tests are unfair and he gives pop quizzes. In my opinion, his lectures were never helpful to me. He was all over the place and made things harder than they really were. I would never take him again and I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. I studied endlessly for this class and still ended up with a terrible grade.
Since I took AP Calculus AB in high school, this class was mainly a review of what I learned. I like how Aboudi tells you the application of the finance / economic concepts, since this class is only for business school kids. If you put in the work, you'll do fine. He is super open to helping during office hours. Missing class is not a good idea.
Didn't understand most of his lectures and the class would feel REALLY long. The homework is optional but do it because it'll help for the quizzes and tests. He gives pop quizzes but its easy to tell when they are going to be. Study the homeworks and quizzes a lot and the tests should be fine. I would recommend taking another prof if possible.
Nice and funny guy but kind of a tough class. Tests are pretty hard but the pop quizzes are easy. He is a decent teacher but if you have never taken calculus before it might be hard to understand what he's teaching since he doesn't go too far in depth.
first, don't bother to buy the textbook. I did not open it once. He gives long lectures but ample examples and is easy to work with. genuine and funny man. wants his students to succeed. pop quizzes occur but you basically know when they're coming. tests are reasonable and he drops low grades.
If you have a choice, do not take him. He usually does not give great examples, and he is not very thorough in explaining examples. Makes himself seem accessible, but in reality he is not very personable.
The worst math teacher I've ever had. Does the worst job of explaining things, gives pop quizzes almost every class (giving you barely any time to absorb information), his tests are ridiculously hard, and I think he enjoys watching his students do poorly. Only thing nice I can say if you can drop your lowest test grade, but otherwise good luck...
This dude gets a bad rep. His class if honestly not that hard if you show up, pay attention, and just do the examples he gives you outside of class. He had a very straightforward method of teaching which I like. If you do the "suggested" homework, then the pop quizzes won't be a problem. Not the best prof, but he taught me what I needed to know.
Aboudi is extremely confusing. Has rules that are unnecessarily strict. He is rude to students. He doesnt provide good explanations for grading and refused to explain math concepts outside of class. His teaching method is awful: he is unclear when teaching and makes the material more convoluted.
Easy class for most of the students. Do the homework before classes you will pass the pop quizzes. Also, his pop quizzes are regular if you find the rules. His lectures are useful. Make sure to take notes, those can help you solve the homework. Practice and review all the pop quizzes and homework before exams, you will get a solid A.
One of the nicest professors at University of Miami. Class can be difficult if you do not do the homework that he posts. Gives many example problems and does a good job of explaining how to do the problems. If you do the optional homeworks (which are not long) before class, you should do well.
Amazing professor! Goes very into detail with every lesson and is probably one of the best math professors I've come across. Although he does give "pop quizzes" you know when to expect them if you attend his class. Quizzes come directly from HW so do your HW. Very nice and wants you to learn, don't hesitate to go to his office hours.
This man CANNOT teach. He is unnecessarily confusing, and does not clearly explain problems in class. He moves at a fast pace, and does not give lots of extra help. Tests are hard, and overall class is tough. avoid if possible.
If you've taken calc before his class is easy. If not, he can be somewhat confusing. You have to stay very much on top of the work to do well on the pop quizzes. He doesn't check homework but its usually the same question that will appear on the quiz. He can come across mean at first but he is actually very sweet and willing to help
Honestly not a bad professor. Once you figure out the pattern, you'll know exactly when he gives pop quizzes. Do the homework and you'll pass the quizzes as well. Nice guy and although he can be a bit confusing, he's always willing to help you out during office hours
Love this professor, he gives good lectures. Beware of weekly pop quizzes, but they come straight form the homework. As long as you pay attention and take notes the tests will be very fair and not to hard. TAKE THIS CLASS!
Incapable of actually teaching. Simply writes on the board. Good luck teaching yourself all the material that ends up being 1/3 of the material that happens to be on the test
Not a very good professor. Is way to old school and gives was to many pop quizzes. Super test heavy and is probably the very dull in terms of lecturing of the board and not being clear on material.
The most boring prof at UM. He'll introduce one topic per week and spend the rest of the week giving examples, but the exams are completely unrelated to the examples in class. I would get A's on every pop quiz but C's on the exams. His accent also makes him really hard to understand. He also does not give enough time on exams.
Lectures are super boring, he just writes out problems the whole time, not engaging at all. Quizzes and tests don't have enough time allotted to complete them.
This guy is so unreasonable that it is borderline mean. I emailed him several times telling him that I would not be able to attend class for an important reason. When he finally responded, he gave my email 0 consideration and just said that I have to come to class and that his class should be my priority. Also test questions are very unfair.
There are pop quizzes throughout the semester but can kind of tell when he is going to do them. lectures are boring and not engaging and sometimes he will say no to answering in-class questions. Some of the exam and quiz questions are nothing like anything we have ever seen in class or on the homework sets.
Can't speak for in-person teaching, but online lectures were abysmal. Constantly ignored students and didn't care if we understood topics. He would just write math down on the screen and mindlessly ramble on about it even though it was borderline incoherent. The subject was not very difficult, but you'd honestly have better luck teaching yourself.
Worst professor I've had. Every student says they're struggling, and he makes you feel so dumb if you're wrong. Hasn't done it to me but Ive seen him so rude to students. Goes way too fast too, I have had him twice. Also took 0 consideration when I missed a quiz for a very close relative's death last year. If you are 10 seconds late, you are absent
Professor Aboudi expects a lot from his students for no good reason. He is very difficult to understand on Zoom and almost seems upset when students ask questions during class. His tests are extremely difficult. Avoid.
If you pay attention in class you will do fine. He gives homework but does not collect it. However, pop quizzes and tests are exact questions from the homework. If you put in the work to do the homework and study a little out of class you should do fine. However attendance affects your grade.
This class is a hard class in general no matter the professor and it's not the most interesting subject so he gets a lot of hate. But if you do all the homework and go to every class it isn't too hard. If you ask him questions he will help you and he curves at the end.
not good not good don't try
Very tough on students. Everyone was failing and he didn't care. Did not let us use excel, excel is what people use in real life. EVERYTHING WAS BY HAND. NO ELECTRONICS. 6 of my classmates dropped the class.
ive never in my entire life hated someone to this degree. what a mean, horrible man who should truly be fired he must have some sort of tenure. the averages on our 2 midterm exams were a 66 and a 67 and he doesn't care about the curve. avoid at all costs truly its so terrible
DO NOT TAKE ABOUDI. HE IS TERRIBLE. WORST CLASS BY FAR ALL SEMESTER. His lectures are extremely disorganized and the way he teaches makes no sense. He gives 7 pop quizzes a semester unannounced so be aware. The class average on both of the tests this semester was a D. He takes attendance but it doesn't seem like it counts for the grade at all.
A good teacher but hard tester, really should curve.
He is terrible and does not care if his students succeed. The exam averages were 66 and 67 for both exams, with some people getting 20s or lower and he does nothing about it. There are questions on them that do not come from the lectures or the homework. He is very disorganized with his lectures.
Nothing about this class was good. Dropped the class before it was too late. I pity those who stayed. Looking back I feel like I wasted hours of my life in that class for the few weeks that I was in it.
Overall an extremely hard class (exam averages were always in the 60s). Lectures can be hard to follow; he goes very fast. There are pop quizzes every week, but if you keep up with the *non-mandatory* homework you will do well. Basically entire course is graded on the exams. Exams were very hard- some problems weren't on HW and he's a tough grader.
Honestly awful, doesn't explain if you have any questions, is not caring, and is the toughest grader. Speed-runs through material and expects you to know it straight up. Completely insensitive and gets political
Beware of cheating on his exams. He is a stickler for cheating and a total meanie about it and will report you. Super strong accent and hard to understand. Do not rec
Professor Aboudi is overall a nice guy but not a great teacher. He runs through examples very quickly and expects you to pick up on the concepts almost immediately. Homework is optional, but he does give pop quizzes at least once a week. He'll also take off way too many points for minor mistakes. Avoid taking him if you can.
Challenging, but if you know how to take him than its fine, so here's how to do well: -go to class (mandatory) but you don't really have to listen. lots of ppl i know did fine while slacking - its "pop quizzes" but he posts on blackboard to "know this by a certain date" so you really do know -study tests through Course Notes, easier than in person
This professor is not great at all. Beware of cheating also, he found minor similarities in my quiz and another student's and reported me and made sure i got an F in the class. Wouldnt recommend
If you take this class get ready to teach yourself. Horrible professor who does not teach. He just writes on the board and mumbles and goes way to quick to follow and comprehend. University of Miami needs to find better math professors.
He gets a lot of hate on here, but it is not difficult to do well if you pay attention in class and do the homework as it is assigned. If you stay on top of the material, it is very manageable. He can be sassy, but if you apply yourself and work hard you can easily get an A.
The pop quizzes and exams aren't hard if you study, but if you don't want to teach yourself don't take this class. He explains things in the most complicated way possible and he will often roll his eyes at you if you ask a question. The material you're supposed to learn from is a copy of his poorly handwritten notes. Avoid him if you can!
If I could give him a 0 I would. This guy hates everything and wants to make your life miserable. He has quizzes pop quizzes on material covered a month prior and doesn't review anything before exams. Has no regard for actual teaching, he just writes randomly on the board and expects everyone to understand. Avoid him at all costs.
Ronny Aboudi could not care less about the success of his students. He shows up, writes gibberish on the board for an hour and expects you to understand it. He does nothing to help his students learn, all he does is lecture and responds negatively to any questions asked. He gives pop quizzes and puts material on the exams that were not covered.
Beware of Aboudi! He may seem nice but his test are impossible. I studied countless hours for his exams, and I still did not pass a single one of them. My classes started with about 25 students and just before I left the class, it was down to maybe 8 students. He does not care if anyone passes or fails which I find to be insane.
Do anything you can to avoid him. I dropped him the last day of add/drop. Pop quizzes, people say you can figure out when they will be but its hard to determine the content on it, hard to get full points. He is not helpful during office hours or during class. He reads from his notes for lectures and if you miss anything its hard to figure it out.
Although he is lecture heavy, if you do the homework you'll be fine. the pop quizzes are straight forward and can always be finished in under 10 minutes. He grades harshly on the tests but the tests aren't very difficult. As long as you pay attention you'll do fine. He also provides a generous curve to your final grade at the end of the semester.
These ratings are likely because people found the content hard and wanted him to give them an A without studying or understanding the material. He teaches everything and grades nicely (on exams/quizzes, and curves final grade). Download a free PDF of the book and use that to follow along with his lectures and study for the exams!
Avoid at all costs. He gives pop quizzes and is a very harsh grader. Reads off the board and is very hard to understand.
Easily the worst professor I have ever had. He rambles all class long reading the same notes he has used for years. He is rude and annoying to ask questions to, it seems like you are doing him a disservice by asking him questions. He is stubborn and harsh at grading. There's a reason all of his classes have 10x the open spots than other teachers.
just dont take him at all costs.
Ronny is def sassy but overall not that bad! Tests are super straight forward and exactly like the homeworks. There are 1 question pop quizzes but every time he says "homework is due" you know there will be a quiz. Go to office hours and study and you will be fine!
Rumors are true - avoid. Gives out 0s practically for fun. Pop quizzes become more easy to recongize ad exams are not that hard, but not worth taking him over other professors. I would have an A in a different class.
Every time I came into this class I left more confused than educated. He tries to teach the meanings behind equitations more than the material we will be tested on and just confuses everybody more. He reads off his notes and expects everybody just to understand everything even though it's foreign to many students. Don't take if you want to learn.
Everything written here is true. Aboudi does not care, and will take substantial amounts of points of your quizzes and tests for the pettiest things. Almost as if he likes to do it. Worst professor at UM.
I return to his rate my every year just to beg you guys not to take him. Not only is he the worst professor I have ever had in my life, he may be the worst person I have every personally interacted with. He drops pop quizzes, is an extremely tough grader, and constantly talks down to his students. I am ashamed to say I go to a uni where he teaches.
Absolutely avoid at all costs. Take this class later with a different professor like McKenry. It'll save you time and energy in the long run. Spent 2 months in this course before taking the W because I did not want a C on my transcript.
Great guy he is the best teacher I have had yet
I honestly do not know where to begin. If I could give this man a 0 I would. The most disrespectful, inflexible and miserable person I have ever encountered. Avoid this class at ALL costs. He gets off on watching students struggle and couldn't care less about seeing them succeed. I would have pushed this class off another year just to take w other
Professor Aboudi is a pretty good teacher. Many people go to his class thinking he's awful based on these reviews. If you just go to class, take notes, and ask questions you will get an A. This class is not that difficult and I think a lot of these students forget what it is like to actually go to class and put in effort.
The worst professor I've ever taken ever. If I could drop I would. Unfortunately it's too late. He swarms u with quizzes which r rediculously hard every once a week. Perhaps the worse part is he gives us u 0 and i mean 0 partial credit. If u mess up a sign -10, flip an inequality full credit off. Please listen to me and save yourself. So rude too!
Avoid him at all costs, he is not probably but most definitely the worst teacher I've had in my life. Just rambles during lectures and expect everyone to understand it. Final exam is impossible, oh yea and pop quizzes every week.
Dont believe these evil reviews. I j had him and he came in w a smile everyday and just was a chill funny guy. He never was rude to my class and yes, he read off of his notes the whole time, but if u do the hw, pay attention, and study for tests, you will b perf. Its not hard u j need to do the work -also "pop" quizzes r j anytime he says hw is due
Exams and quizzes were unnecessarily hard and the toughest grader I had ever witnessed. Do not take him. Does not care about your grade.
If you can, DO NOT TAKE ronni aboudi. He is, without a doubt, the worst professor I have ever taken in my entire life. His exams are genuinely impossible to complete on time, even if you spend 30+ hours reviewing his chicken scratch.
I definitely think in comparison to the other stats professors Ronny is the most difficult; however, his class is not impossible. His quizzes and exams are similar to the practice problems and homework. If you understand the homework, you will be fine. Even though he is a harsh grader, he is fair.
Prof. Aboudi is a great person; however, he is not an amazing teacher. You will do well in his class if you have a prior understanding of advanced statistics topics (hypothesis testing, p-values, etc.). If you don't know the material and are expecting to learn it for the first time, I would not advise taking Prof. Aboudi.
