One of the most amazing professors at this school. Truly an educational phenom. She's very intelligent, witty. She gets down on the same level as the students, working with you. Her class is empowering, her assignments deep and helpful. Incredible.

I was really impressed with this teaher. She gives indiviudal attention to you and shes a kind person. Definetly helps build your self esteem too! Word of warning... if you dont like Tupac dont take her class! seriously she studies him like a fiend!

rosalee.. is ridiculous. i look forward to her class every monday morning, she is what drives students to love english. she has made my transition from high school to college a highly enjoyable experience, and the fact that shes all about tupac..is crazy!

she is a great prof and the class was easy. the class is about tupac and movies about tupac. she what you have to do to get the grade you want. and you have to do a couple of essays but they are easy. take her class your'll love it!!

Had her for the three week summer session... really awesome laid back class with Tupac movies and easy tests where the students made the questions.But the icing on the cake is her awesome personality!

She was a replacement prof for an injured prof. She was the nicest teacher I have ever met in my 17 years of schooling! I would take ANY class she taught just because she was the teacher. She has the best teaching method ever, where you choose you grade and do just that much work to get the grade!!!

Very nice lady, a little loony, but easy to get along with. Open to opinions contrasting her own. Most annoying part of the class was Tupac-that ALL we talked about, pretty much nothing else. Sorry, the world does not revolve around Tupac and neither does my interest. Good class if you can stand it.

This has been the best class I have ever had. She is a wonderful professor full of opnion and very open to suggestions. As long as you complete the work to the best of your ability you will breeze through this class. I recommend her 100%...i wish all english teachers were like her.

She is by far one of the best profs. here at IUP. She is more than fair and is the best grader on earth. If you can't get an A in here than something is wrong because she makes it so easy and clear what you are suppose to do.

BEST professor by far! She is such an awesome, laid back person and her class was very enjoyable. She loves Tupac so we watched 2 movies with him in it. It is easy to get an A in her class. I dont know, maybe it was just me, but i hated this class. If you feel uncomfortable participating in group discussions this is not a good class for you. Also, all the papers were graded by TA's which bothered me.

if you don't take her there is something wrong with you. she cares so much about fostering a love for english in her students that grading becomes a second priority. she's fair, upfront with what she expects of your papers, always ready to help in your rev

I don't think words can describe how good of a teacher Dr. Stilwell was. The concept that we learned in the class can be applied to everyday life and that is very meaninful. I love how she brought the whole class into class discussions. Even the kids who were struggling she would find a way to get themn involved. I loved her class you will to.

Dr Stilwell was the best professor I have ever taken a college class from. She not only helped me anyway she could, but she made sure everyone was doing well in her class. She directly listened to each one of our oppions at the conclusion of the semester. I would recommend her to everyone!

Dr. Stilwell is an excellent teacher.Not only does she help you develop as a writer, but as a person also.The concepts and theories learned in her class can be applied to everyday life.There's always a discussion going on in her classroom and you have to participate (she's big on participation),she encourages everyone to give their opinion.

It's very widely thought that Dr. Stilwell can make any class remarkably fun (that's right: research writing? fun!? yes.), but she can make you dig into your own personal life and find meaning to it. Well when I first came into this class I was not expecting to like it due to prior bad professors. Dr.S is a great teacher, she taught me to think deeper and look past the big picture and not be narrow minded in my writing. I highly recommend this professor because you will learn tons of information but of course you have to work...shes great!

Dr. S makes class extrelemy fun and interesting by class discussions. She encourages everyone to speak so the class gets to know each other. This was one of my best english classes ever and Dr. S even gives the final research paper a super cool twist!

I loved Dr. Stilwell's class. It was actually my favorite class during the first semester. She is a down to earth professor who anyone can get along with. The thing that impressed me the most was she really did care about the students and tried to make them succeed in the class.

She is very encouraging, positive, and CARES about her students. The movies in her class help you relate the book that is read in her class, The Hero's Journey. It makes it easier to identify. The group discussions that are held in class help you clarify the movies in relation to the book, the requirements for our papers and any questions we had.

Dr.S made this the best english course i ever had. Prior to the class i hated english all the essays and writing and stuff, i despised it, but Dr. S made it so easy and helped us so much it made everything much easier and much more understandable.

The best teacher I have had at IUP throughout my three years here. Her classes are very interesting. I always looked forward to attending class. You will learn a lot from her! I highly recommend taking any course with her :)

I have never seen anybody before with a love for animals as much as Dr. Stilwell. Animals are the focal point of her lectures. The class is easier than any english class you have ever taken before. She makes you sign a Learning Contract before the semester begins and you will get whatever grade you put on that piece of paper. Go to class. It's fun.

Dr. S is a great professor. You can choose when to stop coming to class. bases your grade off of how hard you work and participate, no real points and we only wrote 4 or 5 essays. I highly recommend her, its an easy A and she's an interesting person. class was mwf, and she got rid of fridays in exchange for movie night on wednesday.

She makes english interesting. She actually cares about her students.

Her grading is based on contractual agreements. If you fulfill your responsibilities, she fulfills hers. Interesting topic, too. We had discussions on whether or not animals had logic and emotion. Never thought about it before, but evidence that I saw convinced me that they do. Cool prof and very caring.

In the beginning, she will give students a contract to sign. If a student is going for an A,B,or C the contract states how to achieve this through attendance, participation, & assignments. Her class is easy. She grades easily, and is very understanding about individual circumstances. She is creative and open to student ideas. Never boring!

She is the easiest teacher I have ever had. She lets you pick the grade you want and then tells you exactly what you need to do to get it. She likes to have a class that is focused more on debate and not on reading from a textbook. Just a really nice teacher that cares for her students.

Dr. Stillwell is awesome! If you spoke in class, you were guaranteed an A if you attended the whole time. I found her class both easy and interesting. Also, she never made anyone feel dumb for an opinion or thought.

This teacher saved my second semester! Having her class is like having no class at all. Had her MWF, but she only made us come to class M & W! Plus, no textbook required AT ALL. She lets you pick your own grade and all tests and quizes are based off of an HBO show ROME. Best class ever! (btw she is a very interesting teacher, you will love her!

One of the most understanding, kind, authentic professors on campus. Assigns papers, but does not grade on your opinion. I know most say they don't but she will listen to literally anything you say. Helped me a lot with new writting formats. Take her.

We spend a lot of time engaged in to mealiness talks in her office. Not only does she understand, but she know what it takes to learn and remember. ENGAGED around FUN :)

If you are looking for an easy A, Stillwell is the teacher to get it from. I LOVED her class. If you just show up, do the simple papers, and part take in class you can pass. I have never seen an old women love 2pac as much as her! She makes class fun and easy. And she will work with you! There is no way anyone could fail her class

She is amazing, I had a very small class so it was really easy to connect with her. she goes out of her way to connect and help students, even if they arent her students. I missed one class, but let her know in advance, and i still got a 100%. She HATES tardiness. but the worst she will do is public shame you possibly lower your grade a few percent

This class was an easy A. You write 3 short papers that combine into 1 big paper (mine ended u being about 8 pages) that you can use for future jobs and/or graduate school. The paper is solely about you and your major, so it is very easy to talk about yourself. She is not a tough grader at all. Just follow MLA format and you're good. No textbook!

Professor Stilwell was AMAZING!!!! She was hands down my favorite professor that I have ever had. She makes sure you completely understand the assignments at all times, is great to getting back to you, is really good about seeing things from the students perspective. Also not a ton of work, as long as you give effort you will be fine.

Easy A

Dr. Stilwell is my favorite professor. Her class is easy going and mostly just discussion. The only book we had to purchase was a Kindle book for $9.99

Dr Stilwell is an amazing professor. If you could register for her class, take it you won't regret the choice. Their class is easygoing, not hard at all. For meetings, they'll work with you, from wanting to just talk to not understanding a part of the lecture, you can get positive and great feedback from them. 5/5 professor

The best professor I could ever imagine having. She's truly the most understanding and generous person out there. Shes hilarious and definitely an easy A. We only wrote two papers. Dr. Stillwell is a complete joy to have as a professor. She is very comical and caring about how her students perform not just in her class, but in all of their courses. Dr. Stillwell is my professor for English 310, public speaking. I took this course because I needed three extra credits during the last semester of my senior year. I also took her during the spring of 2020, during the midst of the coronavirus outbreak. She shifted the class online, and made everything easy to understand. Love her! Would recommend

Absolutely amazing teacher, this professor reminds you what it feels like to be encouraged and cared for. Dr. Stilwell is patient, kind, and instructive. Gives descriptive feedback and fast email replies whenever you need help with your assignments. Workload is not too much but keeps you busy. I would 100% take her class again!!!

Exceptional teacher

SHE WAS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE PROFESSOR. She gives amazing feedback on all of your papers and inspires you to write the way you want to which actually makes it enjoyable. You can write informally, formally, however. She gives only 4 papers and the first three lead into the final paper which is basically just the 3 combined. WOULD LOVE TO TAKE AGAIN
