she talks way too fast, she tries to fit a lot into a little portion of time, her tests are unbelievably hard, and then thinks that they were easy. She's unclear, doesn't explain anything
not allot of experience teaching university students. Just got her masters so her tests are at a level thats not introductory level. The tests are at a doctoral level. Be prepared for reading a text book that is not relevent to class tests. Her Tests are really hard.
This is the worst professor I've ever met. Does nothing but regurgitate the American text that is completely irrelevant. Test questions are very poorly written and unclear. If she is your prof, run for it!!!!
She doesn7t know what whould be tested on the exams due to the lack of experience as a teacher. I really think she should pay more attention to the contents of exams because any of her exams are not relevant to her classes.
one word: AWEFUL!!!!! I hope if you are reading this Rosalie, you are by far the worst prof I have ever had. You need to correct your errors and mark right answers right not wrong, oh and learn how to spell!
Do not...I repeat DO NOT take any classes with her teaching. The content of the course is raced through. Her understanding of an entry level course is NOT..I repeat NOT good at all.. the exams were Brutal...countless errors on her behalf in going over the course content left many confused and angrily she went over it again although eve more quickly
i feel like i never got my monies worth. she spoke too fast and wasn't prepared :(
Don't take a class with her!! She's unclear, rushed allows her "faves" to take over the class. She doesn't teach at an intro level and her tests are ridiculously hard! And she's brutal with her marking on assignments and presentations. Oh and she won't even offer you the courtesy of paying you any attention when you present your work.
she's ok. Just work very hard.
My main problem with Rosalie was her MANY errors on exams, of which she was unwilling to admit to or do anything about. Questions were extremely vague or trivial or arbitrary. Overall a very frustrating experience and I can imagine not a good impression for first year business students (I'm third year; this was just a "filler" course for me)
Always quite helpful, willing to give extra lectures on weekends. Pleasant and easy to talk too, quite understanding of personal circumstances. Winning to accomodate individuals when possible.
The most frustrating and confusing class I have ever taken. Consider yourself inviscible if you're not one of the favs and especially if you're Asian.
She did an excellent job, always made sure that everyone understood the material. She always made sure to go through several examples, and for a newer prof, I would definately say she is exceptional. To all of those with negative comments, I never saw any errors on her exams, she was very thorough, and she took her time going through her examples
she sometimes goes too fast. I had a hard time to understand her.
She makes a large number of errors. In the username/password emailed to me for the course website, in lectures she'll have incorrect calculations and need constant correction by students, on exams -- ON A BALANCE SHEET -- there are errors and problems don't balance. Avoid this prof, she's very frustrating.
What a joke

Terrible. Even I can teach better than her.
aweful instructor!!! stay away if you can! she is all over the place and doe not care about students. she is too preoccupied with her other jobs. i hear she suck at financial accounting too.
She's a hard maker. Tests are hard becuase she doesn't teaches that is revalent to business.
Very strict on assignment hand in - 30 sec late - and she put your paper in a separate pile and you get Zero-ouch! Talks much about her own business dealing but integrate it into the class. Much fun taking her class other wise. MUCH class discussion is required - if your not there you get reduced participation marks!
Nice person but a bad prof. She never finished explaining the cases or concepts which made it hard for the should have been easy open book exam. She marks really hard and when you participate every class you still can end up with only a 70. Not recommended.
Marks hard, but if you work, you'll get by with at least a B (at least in the class I was in). There's quite a bit a preparation outside of class, and if you're not prepared you'll definitely pay for it. She has zero patience for people for try to coast or show up every 3rd class. Was willing to assist whenever I asked.
She rushed through the course material..... she ended class early... she made us come in on weekends for a test.....she needs some time management skills. I am familiar with accounting concepts otherwise I would have been lost. Needs to learn a bit about teaching I think. And use an accurate answer key.
like others have said needs major organization skills, she goes over a case so fast and jumps from one aspect to another.
Very helpful and interesting
I find her unhelpful plus you will never have any interest to take another class with her again
hard marker, unreasonable i would say. saturday tests, often cancelled classes for personal reasons and did not show up for the last class to provide an exam outline! makes tests impossible!
Not a bad Prof. Very clear and concise explanations of problems. Areas of improvement:often class cancellations for personal reasons, Saturday tests and Prof. Harms rushes through the material too much.
I took intro Business 2 with Harms. I wouldn't recommend her; terrible organizational skills, capricious marking, and difficult to follow her train of thought.
I had this professor for Financial Accounting. Harms is thorough, and helpful. She does tend to mark a bit harder, but accounting is a tough course. I passed by reading each chapter, and completing assigned questions. I relied little on class lectures, but found her powerpoint slides useful to 'fill in the gaps'. Test questions were predictable.
A good class. Lectures are well structured and make it easy to follow along in the textbook. Tests are reasonable but seems to be a fairly tough marker for hand-in assignments. She a nice lady.
this was the worst prof ive ever had. i stopped going to classes because she made me fall asleep. i did better on my test that i studied for myself than actually attending class. yes, she is a smart woman but she should stick to her day job
she actually must be getting better. she speaks slowly and goes at a pace that is easy to follow. she emphasizes difficult concepts and explains how to do questions. also, she only cancelled one class all term however her tests are on saturdays still
Not helpful at all, not clear on assignments, not a fair marker. Does not give students the time of day and very narrow minded.
I had her for both Financial Acct and Financial Mgmt.Nice lady, bad prof. She does not teach at an intro level and her voice is so boring to listen too.Her method of teaching is horrible and impossible to follow.I took Financial Acct a 2nd time w/ another prof, and got a B,Harms failed me.AVOID IF POSSIBLE.She is the worst prof is business @ U of W.
I WOULD SAY SHE IS A PROF THAT HAS LOTS OF DIFICULTIES IN HER PERSONAL LIFE. I HAD TO SIT WITH TWO PROF.S, TO CHECK THIER POINT OF VIEW OF CORRECTING MY PAPER THAT SHE CORRECTED, SURPRISED! ACCORDING TO HER I WAS AWARDED A(D-). AFTER CHECKING THE PAPER WITH TWO PROF. ONE FROM THE SAME UNIVERSITY AND SAME FIELD. BOTH PROF.'S GRADED ME WITH A B.
Not very helpful or interesting at all. Avoid taking any courses with this prof, if possible.
Tough course, helpful prof
she has alot of personal experience with business, but she is not very creative or influential in the course content. although the class and the content is easy, she can be hard to please for papers. on the other side, her exams are straight forward and easy to get a good mark.
Tests were very hard and material wasn't delivered clearly good luck to any in her class!
she's tough but fair - when you finish you'll really know your stuff, especially accounting. i feel good having this foundation for 2nd year accounting
Really nice lady. Sticks to the powerpoint and speaks clearly. Gives really good examples and explains things really well. Definitely not as bad as all of the comments say. One of my favorite profs last semester.
Knows her stuff almost too well. Exams are long and difficult. She is a nice lady
Dont bother reading below, take my advice for it.. PROS:She is SUPER NICE.. goes out of her way to meet you any time during the week. ADVICE:when she looks at you nod your head. CONS: Hard marker, too straight forward, skipped chapters before exam, not apathetic, gave the same mark to every group on the assignment even if you put your life into it.
Class average on a midterm was 48%, everyone complained and she did nothing. The test wasn't based on what we were taught, huge differences. Non-sympathetic. VERY hard marker. VERY rude to students. People will ask questions and she will snap at them, the answer may be simple but it's her job to be patient with students, not yell at them.
I don't know why we didn't have Chapmen all year. At leased we could ask him questions without feeling stupid.
She is tough! But prepares you for the exam and makes sure her students understand. Tip: She favours students that go to her office hours and look for help.
Very excellent prof, very straight forward, stern and communicative. She tells you what she expects upfront. Any accounting major student must take this prof, she really knows her stuff. Not a very easy course without having prior accounting experience.
Had her for both Financial Accounting and Entrepreneurship. She is a good teacher, very thorough and clear. She is also really nice. The accounting course was tough, but she lets you know that at the beginning.
Very tough class, take this with easy electives because it will eat up all your study time. Do all of the practice questions over and over. Harms was always available to talk with via office or email. I hear that the whole process of becoming an accountant is HARD WORK. Don't give up and ask LOTS of questions. Talk to BASA. They're always helpful.
Not a class for a student who fears a challenge...but Professor Harms goes the extra mile: extended office hours, extra help, always available by email, good examples, great lectures.
Great Prof. The material is difficult however Professor Harms teaches in such a way that the course is manageable. This class requires a lot of independent work.
Rosalie is a fantastic prof, gives very clear examples and cares about students understanding of material. Makes sure to give you practice questions that are very relevant to questions that you are tested on. Be sure to read the text before classes and do practice questions.
Rosalie is a tough professor but when it comes to teaching and explanation of the material she does a fantastic job at delivering. She is always available to answer any questions you may have. She is strict when it comes to classroom environment, however this is university so one should be invested in the lecture. Overall I liked her tough but fair
At first I liked her, but, as the semester went on I liked her less and less, by the end I detested her. She could be rude and critical. Once when she deemed that no one had done the readings, she got angry and cancelled class for the day. She needs to be reminded that it is a University where she works, not a high school (or elementary).
She is very helpful when you approach for questions and really does make financial accounting easier to understand but the catch is that if you don't do the work before class you will be guaranteed to be lost as she goes on a blistering pace. The subject matter is tough and thus need a whole lot of independent study! Finals was really hard!
She has her own way to grade papers, unlike any english class I have ever taken. She does not give you any grading scale but simply states things in class and expects everyone to remember and know her standards. I would never take a class with her again. Don't buy the textbook unless you want to be an entrepreneur!
Not very impressed with her unpredictability and moodiness. Cancelled a class because she deemed we hadn't done our readings as well. Very critical when it came to deadlines that were met just in time. Extremely tough marker, felt like I was taking a Grad class instead of a 2nd yr crse. Not sure she is in the right profession. Will avoid in future.
Those complaining she cancelled class, welcome to the real world. If you don't come prepared for work, you probably won't have a job for long. She's tough, but knows her stuff, if you ask for help she will help you. Read the materials, do the problems don't leave things till the night before exams. Problems straight forward, MP kills you.
She is tough, but she knows what she is talking about and is willing to help.
Great professor, she is straight forward from the start. Explains information clearly and with a lot of examples. She is always available for help, office hours or through email. She is tough but if you keep up with the practice and attend class you will do great in her class, and also be prepared to write a decent amount of information down.
Not approachable, unfriendly. Didn't show the kind of respect for students that I would've liked to have seen. Never received a lower mark in university by a longshot... clearly the prof. Avoid!!!!!!
Two 25% Midterms & one 50% Final. No room for mistakes. If you don't have time to dedicate to this course, don't take it. She assigns problems & goes thru them in class. Make sure you do them before class & ask questions if you had trouble. Do problems she posts, go to office hours for help. She wants you to succeed but you MUST work for it.
Tough, but fair. Notes are clear and concise, but the tests are not easy unless you prep for them. Youll get the mark you want if you put in the time, but you need to do a lot of practice problems to make sure you get the content down pat.
She provides problems and solutions before the test. Please finish the problems exact stuff youll see in the tests.
If you have a class or thinking on taking a class with this prof, DO NOT approach her unless you don't mind disrecpectiful people. she is not friendly at all, has 0 people skills, it seems that she hates her job, honestly have never met anyone more unfrendly , and rude than this woman. I do not think she knows what happiness is.
I had to take this course twice in order to get an A. Harms was not an easy professor. I had to spend a greater-than-average amount of time studying the material to do well in this course. Her tests can be hard if you don't understand some of the material the first time. Her assignments were weekly online multiple-choice questions.
the most unhappiest, pettiest and rudest person I've ever been in contact with...... as a professor she should support and motivate students but she does everything but that. Not sure why she was hired.
Most rudest person in the university!!!
She is very rude and disrespectful . She can make a huge deal over the tiniest thing or question. She will make you hate accounting, if you have a choice please take this class with another prof
Had to spend 20-25 hours per week outside of class to pass. Comes off rude when students are asking her questions.
I think she hates people!!! Very rude, very rude, very rude.....
She has a nasty attitude. She refused to lecture and instead insists that students read up on their own. A 3 hr class ends after 30 mins because students don't have any more questions. Gave practice problems for students to work on and brought out something completely different in exams. Very condescending and is openly rude when asked a question.
I dealt with Rosalie as department chair when I was filing for my grad. Not only did was she disrespectful and disregarding, but she also said that I wont be graduating because apparently I dont have the courses required to. All academic advisors I saw told me I was ready to graduate. She misread my transcript and never apologized! Bitter person
I retook the course and she was exceptional in content and feedback. She gives you everything needed to pass the course. Very possible to acquire an A
Harms is an outstanding professor who does care about the success of her students. She tells you what you have to do to have success in your class and that means up to 30+ hours of studying during the week. Tests are fairly marked and the questions are not out of the blue. Don't get mad when you don't do what she recommends. I
Rosalie is a great professor, the content is what is hard. She doesn't sugar coat the amount of work and effort is needed, especially outside of class, but she does want you to succeed. She isn't going to pass you to pass you, and accounting is a tough class, but her tests are fair and based on class or the textbook. Do ALL the suggested practice.
Really rude prof. The tests and exam are nothing like the practice questions.
She's amazing. Accting is hard snd she tells how to pass it. Makes u do questions and practice in class. Her guidance is straight and clear and to the point. Ive taken this class with two different proffs and she's best. Altho might strike you as somewhat hard but believe me shes the best u can get at UW.
Refused to give feedback, refused to make herself available. Though my 5 years at the university I have never experienced such a negative professor. She told us she failed her son and do not be surprised if you fail, on the first day. She is tenured and department head so they will do nothing to make her accountable. Worst educator I have met.
I did took class with her and I did not liked it. She goes really quick with everything single thing and in exams goes to even minor details. I won't suggest taking her classes to new students or else go by other professors.
