Men's Chorus is the funnes class ever! Sis. Hall is so great. She's funny, and loves the guys. She's a delight to have. Just learn your music, and don't cut class, and you'll have a peachy time with her in Men's Chorus. Sometimes outside practices and performances take time, though (that's OK).
Absolutely incredible teacher - the way she teaches with the Spirit ALL THE TIME is incredible, makes you want to be good. She genuinely cares about each student and when she lectures the class on how to be better - she looks right at you; She does incredible things with Concert Choir/Men's Chorus!
Sister Hall is the greatest person in the world. Men's Chorus is the reason I wake up in the afternoon, and she's the reason that Men's Chorus is so good. You cannot go wrong with this lady. If she taught Aeronautical Physics I'd go to the class every single day and stay awake for it's entirety.
Sister Hall is quite possibly one of the most Christlike people I have ever met. AMAZING teacher - AMAZING person - INCREDIBLE Leader as she lifts everyone to a higher spiritual plane. She shows so much love and support for all in her choirs - she's unbeatable! (Concert Choir)
Roz was one of the best teachers I've ever had
Extremely funny and engaging teacher. A very easy class, all you have to do is show up and sing, I mean what could be more fun. Sometimes you have to memorize at home, but she will provide all music and most of the time she will have recordings for you.
Hands down, the best music instructor I've ever had, and I have seen my share of conductors and choir directors. The only way I can prove it to you is to tell you to come watch a rehearsal. She truly is amazing.
Going on year 3 of Men's Chorus, and I've loved every second. Sister Hall is the most amazing person, and keeps things so new and lively and interesting that you can't help loving it. Unlocked aspects of music and voice in the first month that I'd tried to in high school for years. One of my favorite people in the whole world. Go to class for an A.
Great class. If you can get in, do.
Sister Hall is the BOMB! She is super nice, and very, very good at leading the choir. It was awesome to get to be in her class each day.
An awesome teacher. One of BYU's finest.
Sister Hall is amazing! She has the ability to bring out the best in everyone. The music can be difficult, but she brings so much energy that you find yourself achieving more than you thought possible. If you can get in, do.
Sister Hall is creative, humorous, caring, and Welsh. She doesn't waste time in class, keeping the "machine" of over 200 students in the Men's Chorus refining their music. Definitely an exciting and motivating teacher where each day and performance is worth attending. Other lessons are taught in class as well, like being in tune with the spirit.
Concert Choir was an amazing spiritual experience. Daily rehearsal attendance is required and of course several performances during the semester. Very often 10 minutes of daily practice is expected. Sister Hall is the most amazing, spiritual choir director I've ever had. Has a funny, warm personality, and is an exceptional teacher.
Awesome professor!
Sister Hall expects complete attention in class and a strong commitment to be in one of her choirs. She is a great teacher and has helped me become a better singer and a better person. If you like to sing... work hard to get into Men's Chorus (or Concert choir)..... it was awesome!! COOLEST TEACHER EVER!!!!!!
Tough Love! That's Sister Hall's philosophy. But stay on her good side and you're golden! She loves her students. And if you pay attention, she'll teach you far more than Nordstrom Vowels.
Sister Hall is the most wonderful teacher ever, I wish every student at BYU could have her!
Sister Hall is the bomb.
AWESOME, AMAZING
Sister Hall is the best. I love her comments and her analogies in class.
The Men's Chorus is an amazing class. She will cast a spell on you.
Men's Chorus is great, and Sister Hall is amazing. It was a privilege to sign with her at General Conference.
Sister Hall is the greatest thing to happen to music since Gregorian Chant.
Sister Hall is the best, I have learned so much more than just music from her. Mens Chorus is the best
She has a very fun teaching style.
An excellent life teacher, who profoundly cares about the students in her choirs.
Sister Hall is wonderful. Men's Chorus requires full commitment, so it's not an easy class. However, there are no tests or reading assignments; as long as you come every day and do your best, you will get an A guaranteed. She is wonderful, teaches you how to sing and not just how to perform in the choir. Hilarious and loves all her students.
Absolutely amazing teacher. Hands down one of the best professors at BYU, and one of the best people you will ever meet. If you ever get the chance to take choir from her do it. You will become a better singer and a better person.
The only thing I'd emphasize is that it is committment. I wasn't expecting it totally, so it took a lot of adjustment. But if you enjoy choir and singing often in concerts, Men's CHorus is really fun.
Sister Hall is fan-jolly-tastic! She will keep you singing at your best, laughing, and feeling the Spirit every class. I didn't put full easy because you need to commit, and there are plenty of concerts and rehearsals, but it is WORTH IT! Men's Chorus has been one of the best experiences of my life, in no small part due to Sister Hall.
How can you not love Sister Hall? She deserves a 6 as her rating. Best teacher ever--for choir and for life lessons.
Dr. Hall is a great choral conductor. She is funny, has a sweet accent, always strives for the Spirit, and she NEVER settles for anything less than the best. You'll love every minute.
Sis. Hall is one of my favorite people in the world. Rehearsals are so productive and spiritual. She will never settle for anything but your best. You must work hard and give your all but the work is SO rewarding. Attendance is mandatory. You'll never regret being in a BYU choir with her :)
She knows her stuff, and knows everyone she teaches by name - all 300+ students.
Rosalind Hall is wonderful - she cares about each and every student and is an expert at what she does
Diddo to all the comments. I was stretched and learned more about my potential as an individual through Sister Hall's leadership. I am also more conscious of the world around me. She is inspiring.
Basically the best director of any choir i've ever been in. Fan-jolly-tastic personality. :-)
If you can get into a choir with Sister Hall, do it. I don't see how anyone could not love her.
Absolutely fabulous! This is my first year in Men's Chorus, and it is seriously the moment I look forward to every day! She DEMANDS excellent attendance, tuning, pitch perfection. But all this makes you a better singer...and makes the choir better, too. Audition and take this class! It will change your life. Love her
Next to my mother, Sister Hall is my favorite woman on the planet. She truly loves her students and is loved in return. She is extremely helpful and provides many opportunities for students to grow and learn. She is THE BEST.
Awesome.
Sister Hall is the BEST! Men's Chorus was the highlight of my semester. Spiritually uplifting and relaxing, yet at the same time I was challenged and learned so much!
Pretty much the coolest person in the world, that sums her up quite nicely.
She is incredible! Her passion for the music is evident and she loves every student in choir. Her goal is for everyone to grow and gain a wonderful new experience with music.
I've never met person with such love for music and her students. She will not let anyone fall behind and will always use personal time to help someone that is struggling with class or life in general.
Best professor I've ever had.
Best teacher I have ever had. This class will literally change your life. An excellent choral conductor.
This class changed my life. Sister Hall is an amazing woman who is so passionate about music and the power it can have in our lives. She also cares about each and every individual in choir. She not only demands your best, but makes you see your true potential.
Fun, fair, cares about you as an individual. Teaches principles that apply to life. One of my Favorite quotes of her's, "That chord that we just sang needs to go back to Wal-Mart or K- Mart or wherever it is that you picked it up. Do yourself a favor, stay focused, find your head tone, pay the extra, and get a better sounding chord from Nordstroms"
If there is one class you will remember with fondness from your BYU experience, THIS WILL BE IT :) She is awesome and it will change your life, not to mention your love for God, life, and music.
The hype is all true - she is fantastic. Wasn't crazy about choir before her class, and now I am.
She is brilliant. "Practically perfect in every way.
Sister Hall is awesome! Not only is she a brilliant conductor, but she is also incredible at helping us sound our best, all while being very funny, interesting, and engaging.
There are no adequate words to describe Sister Hall. I'll try, though...amazing, fantastic, absolutely brilliant, incredible. I love having her as a director and I love her as a person. Join a BYU choir, especially Men's Chorus if you're a guy! She's beyond awesome.
Sister Hall is awesome. What else can I say? She will change your life. She expects your best and loves every student.
Sister Hall is the BEST. She truly loves each of her students. She is committed and is an incredible conductor. She expects your best every day, but only because she knows what we're capable of. Don't text or talk during class - focus and give it your all. It will be your most rewarding experience at BYU. If you're a guy, audition for Men's Chorus!
Sister Hall is one of the most inspiring people I have ever met. She knows everything there is to know about music and even more about how to live a good life. I love her class and you know that she loves you.
Best hour of the day is with Sister Hall!
Spiritual guide / conductor. THE BEST!
Sister Hall has changed my life. Her enthusiasm for music, life, and the Gospel is inspiring to the greatest degree. Most memorable quote: "Stretch as high as you can! Now, stretch a little bit higher... And learn something from that!" Commitment is required, and love is the reward. Hands down, the greatest professor I have ever met.
Loved learning from Sister Hall! She requires a lot from the men in Men's Chorus, but she really does care about each and every one individually. She had all of our names memorized by the end of the first week, and there are 180 of us. Very inspirational as well.
I consider my time spent in Sister Hall's class as invaluable to my college experience. No other professor inspired me as she did. Her love for the students is obvious because she amazingly knows every student's name (around 160) by the first week of class. Her energy is endless. She demands excellence from herself and her students and she gets it!
Sister Hall is incredible. She makes you want to be the best you can be!
I've been involved in choir for my whole life... And Sister Hall is the best instructor I've ever had the privilege of working with. Men's Chorus is the highlight of my BYU experience thus far. "Why be good when you can be excellent?"
Sister hall has changed my life.
Dr. Hall is a credit to the university and her profession. She demands perfection along with our undivided attention and focus, and yet is universally adored by the members of her choirs. She has you rolling on the floor laughing one rehearsal and blinking back tears the next, and she will inspire you to sing better, more often and with more heart.
Amazing! Big time commitment, but well worth it.
BEST TEACHER AT BYU! Everyone that knows Sister Hall just loves her. She is inspirational, caring, kind, and most of all: fun. She helps you develop a love for the music you are learning. She cares about every single person she comes in contact with. I will always remember her as a teacher that changed me for the better. I'm her #1 fan.
BEST TEACHER AT BYU! Everyone that knows Sister Hall just loves her. She is inspirational, caring, kind, and most of all: fun. She helps you develop a love for the music you are learning. She cares about every single person she comes in contact with. She really wants you to become a great conductor, that's why her tests are hard. But it's worth it.
Sister Rosalind Hall is by far the best professor I've ever had the privilege of being taught by here at BYU. She demands great things of her students, but she doesn't go about it like a drill sergeant. She teaches with energy, consistency and great love. Over 100 students in class, and I still felt like she knew and cared about me personally.
BYU Men's Chorus taught by Rosalind Hall made my entire college experience worth it. She deserves all the credit in the world. I got to serve in the MC Presidency and so got to see her in a more intimate setting than most. She truly loves and cares for every one of her students. One example is that she learns the names of EVERY SINGLE STUDENT.
Sister Hall is by far the best teacher I have ever had!
Sister Hall is an absolutely brilliant choral prodigy that inspires all the singers to give every rehearsal and performance their all, and it shows in the music she is able to produce. I've become a much better singer because of her guidance, feedback, and patience. She truly loves and cares about everybody in the choir and is an inspiration.
Sister Hall is the most amazing director, teacher, and role model there is! She truly cares about each of her students and is focused on getting excellent results from excellent people.
Sister Hall is so awesome! She is the life of men's chorus, and we would be nothing without her!
Sister Hall is the best!
Rosalind Hall is one of the most inspirational professors on my schedule. I look forward to her class every day because I know I will learn something new about music and also new about myself. She has a fascinating drive to do better, be excellent, and change lives without imposing this on her students. They want to join her in her journey.
She is an incredible instructor!! She knows exactly how to make 180 immature men sound like heaven!!
Rosalind Hall is an elite choral director who's reputation circles the globe. She draws musical performance from the heart of her choirs. Her singers should anticipate lasting change and lustrious joy that perpetuates through all of one's life. Lofty goals are vigorously attained under the tutelage of a firm but inexhaustibly jovial character.
She changes the world, one student at a time. What an amazing woman!
Ros Hall is a gift to this earth. Being a part of her choir has been one of the best experiences of my life thus far. I wish everyone could have the same opportunity as me, but sadly, there is only one Ros Hall.
Literally the most inspirational teacher I've ever had!!!
Sister Hall is (IMHO) the favorite choir conductor at BYU, and is arguably one of the foremost college choral conductors in the nation. But beyond her impressive credentials and capability, her caring charisma makes everyone love and respect her dearly. I always looked forward to going to Men's Chorus and Sister Hall is absolutely phenomenal!
Rosalind Hall is an incredible professor who genuinely cares about you personally and your experience. Her goal is to change the world through her students and their influence for good. Therefore, she pushes you to your limits to achieve the ability to change the world. In this process, all of her students change themselves for the better.
Sister Hall is literally the greatest! She will not allow anyone to do anything that is less than their best effort. She really cares about every single one of her students and her class is always the best part of my day!
Rosalind Hall is literally the most amazing human being that I know. She is kind, smart, funny, and professional. She loves her students and is a master at bringing out their best. I have been honored to be one of her students.
Excellent in every way.
She is the best!! Conducts men's chorus, and it is a blast every day! She requires commitment from yourself, and has a great Welsh accent.
Rosalind Hall is one of the most amazing teachers. Not only is she extremely talented in her own abilities, but she is able to bring out the best in her students. She is able to maintain a focused environment while allowing it to be fun and jovial. GREAT.
Best Class i have ever taken. Changed my life, and helped me change the lives of others.
Sister Hall cares about each one of her students, and knows them all by name. She really helps student improve their musical ability, and makes a good choir great! She is understanding, but still pushes her students to be the best. She inspires her students to be better, and is the best professor I have ever had.
Rosalind Hall is easily the best Professor that I have ever had. She cares about her students, understands them, and will do anything to help them achieve their potential. Some would say that her classes are difficult, but she will never ask you to give more than you can, and she will not ask you to give more than she will help you to give.
Rosalind Hall is the best professor that there ever was. She is inspiring, majestic, royal, and tantalizingly SPICY! You won't regret a day of being in her class and learning only excellence from the most excellent person that ever walked the face of this earth (Besides Jesus).
Rosalind Hall cares more about her students than anyone, and pushes them to achieve high standards of excellence. Awesome conductor!
Rosalind Hall is the best choir conductor that I have ever had. Being a part of the music that she makes with The BYU Men's chorus is the highlight of my week.
Although Men's Chorus takes a lot of commitment, it is the best class I've ever taken in my college career. In fact, I've taken it six times now, that's how good it is. Being a part of Sister Hall's choir has made my life better in so many ways.
Easily the best professor in the world, let alone the nation. Rosalind Hall will change your life! Everyone needs to take a class from her!
An extremely inspirational and caring teacher! It is a pleasure to learn from her!
I LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!!! Firstly, she has an awesome Wales accent. Secondly, this is such soon inspirational! Being in her presence just makes me want to reach my potential as a singer--and human! +++++++++++++
Sister Hall is amazing! Being in Men's Chorus is one of the most positive experiences I've ever had. She makes you work for it, but that's because excellence is so much better than mediocrity, and you know she cares about you. She can inspire people like nobody's business, and being in her class is one of the highlights of my day!
"Fan-jolly-tastic!"
Sister Hall is one of the most inspiring, charismatic, and positive people in the world, and her vision of changing the world is clearly felt by anyone who knows or works with her. She has made my college experience excellent by showing us firsthand how much more FUN it is to be excellent than mediocre. I've become a better person thanks to her.
She has a hilarious English accent, she is overly kind and inspirational. She is very knowledgeable at singing and always keeps us accountable to what she has taught us, she never lets us perform below her standards and has the Men's Chorus wanting to be better. SHE IS AWESOME! Whenever she comes into the auditorium we applaud.
Best. Teacher. Ever. Is such a role model in our lives. She knows exactly know when to be funny, when to be spiritual, and when to grip down and push us to reach excellence!
Sister Hall will help you be a better singer, a better human, a better christian, a better everything. Her musical knowledge is beyond choral geniusness. You might not see her tomorrow because she could be translated.
I have grown in every area of my life thanks to Sister Hall. She has hundreds of students every semester and learns all of their names. She also has big goals and wants to change the world. She is loved because she loves the students.
Sister Hall is such an amazing woman! She truly cares about each of her students and learns each of their names. Her knowledge of music and choral directing is unsurpassable. She is the best of the best! Plus, you cannot go wrong with that British accent ;) She exemplifies "Esse Quam Videri".
This class has absolutely changed my entire life. Every aspect of my college experience has been made better because of Rosalind and men's chorus. She will inspire you, lift, you, and change your world. "Esse quam videri" has meant the world to me. Expect to work hard, but you'll an A as long as you show up and do the few required assignments.
Sister Hall is the queen! She cares for every single member of the chorus individually. She does use music to change the world. Overall I believe that she has been the most uplifting conductor I have ever had. And even though it is a great commitment, her class is totally worth it.
Sister Hall is awesome! She totally loves her students and it committed to her work. This is my first semester in Men's Chorus, but I have already grown to love and respect her as a conductor. She loves the music and the Savior. I am able to both feel the Spirit from and crack up at Sister Hall's comments everyday in class. I love this class!
Sister Hall is the most amazing professor that you will ever have the pleasure of working with! I honestly look forward to seeing her each day of the week. It is obvious that she cares for each of us individually and loves to be with us. She is out to change the world, and little does she know she does that to 180 men every semester.
Sister Hall has changed my life. Amazing individual.
One of the most incredible and influential people in my life. I loved this class and I love her. Incredible woman.
Expects excellence. Gets excellence. She does her best to give feedback with the 180+ men she has to work with, but don't expect individual feedback.
Honestly, Sister Hall is one of the best professors at BYU in my opinion. Not only does she teach masterfully and have an amazing knowledge of music, but she is an incredible teacher who cares for her students.
Sister Hall is incredibly inspirational. She's a great choral instructor and director. I put 4 on difficulty because Men's Chorus requires a lot of time for a one credit class. Because of extra performances, rehearsals, etc, I would say it requires a lot more time than the one credit usually does. Also, attendance is completely mandatory.
Best class on campus!
ONE OF THE BEST GROWING EXPERIENCE I'VE HAD IN A CLASS AT BYU!
Definitely the BEST choir teacher I have ever had.
Rosalind Hall is the single greatest teacher I have taken from in all my years of schooling. She merely steps up to conduct the Men's Chorus and instantaneously she has all 200 men wrapped around her finger.
Rosalind Hall is amazing! She asks us to do hard things, but she teaches us how to do them and helps us improve. I cannot survive college without being in choir. And she's not only an amazing musician, but she's an amazing person. She really loves each student, and she shows it.
Sister Hall is the best thing that will ever happen to you. Most fun you can have and best professor I know. Men's Chorus is worth it through and through
Sister Hall is the greatest woman to ever live. Long live the QUEEN
Rosalind Hall is the best choir director I've ever had! I've learned so much about music and about living a good and successful life in her class. I leave her classroom everyday uplifted and inspired!
Awesome lady! Very inspiring!
Sister Hall is the world's top choral conductor. She brings an infectious attitude and energy to class every day and exudes love for her Men's Chorus. Lovingly refereed to as "The Queen", her British accent makes the hours spent in rehearsal so enjoyable. She is funny while still caring about the quality of music and character of the men's chorus.
Men's chorus is the best class out there. Take the class, don't even think twice. Will change your life
Men's Chorus has changed my life and helped me through some really hard times. Rosalind Hall is the queen of all professors, she is inspirational, caring and procures excellence. Don't hesitate to try out for this amazing class. The hard work is worth it.
Sister Hall is the greatest professor to teach at BYU, and I would even be so bold as to say she is the great woman to ever live on earth. She is the supreme queen of the universe.
Sister Hall is BYUs best professor. She cares so much about her students. Men's chorus was the highlight of my day; it was always a pleasure to see sister hall. She gets applause everytime she enters the room for a reason.
I've taken men's chorus every semester I've been able to and Sister Hall has been an incredible positive influence on my life. She expects a lot, but she gets it. It's a lot of time, but in some ways it's harder to not take the class. Well worth the time that you put into it.
The best thing Ive ever done at BYU was take Men's Chorus from Sister Hall. She truly changed the way I view my life and the world around me. This is a 1 credit class that takes up a lot of time but it is 100% worth it if you can make it in. It will change you for the better, I can guarantee that
Teaches great life lessons, particularly about commitment, and accepts nothing less of excellence, which makes the choir sound better. Through her, I was able to dance with Kristen Chenoweth which was a dream come true! The music really isn't very hard compared to other choirs I've been in, but it's always majestic.
Sister Hall is literally the best teacher I've ever had.
The most amazing professor to date. She made my Freshman year. Men's Chorus changed my life. I would give her a 6 if I could. All hail the Queen!
Sister Hall is an amazing woman. She loves guiding her choirs to excellence (which she demands) but does so in the most caring way. Her british accent coupled with her lessons for life truly make her seem like our "mum from Wales." She'll change your life!
Sister Hall is a living legend. Her well known "lessons for life" will guide you throughout your eternal existence. Her choices of music and her spirit are always the highlight of all my semesters at BYU.
Amazing woman! She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Her teaching style is incredibly effective, and she has meaningful life lessons to share. She deserves more than a five.
She's the teacher others should look to. Short and sweet: if you're a guy at BYU who even has an inkling to sing, join this class and you'll be so happy you did. If you don't sing, come anyway because she's just the greatest at loving all her students, and knew each of us by name!! All 180 of us!
It was great experience
Sister Hall is a goddess among mere mortals.
Inspires you to be better. And she makes you feel like she's your favorite. And she helps us create truly excellent music.
I have no words. She's amazing. No, in all reality, Sister Hall really cares about her students and is on their side. She works together with the choir as a team, and this is utterly awesome.
I've had the privilege of working with Sister Hall in several different classes during my time at BYU, and this woman is an absolute inspiration. She truly loves each of her students, and expects the best out of them. I've probably learned more from her than any other professor that I've ever had. Sister Hall is such a blessing!
This is the best vocal teacher I have ever had. She is kind, intelligent, virtuous and truly full of light. I have learned more about being a good person from being in her class than any other person. She expects that her students strive to be excellent, don't take this class if you don't like going or don't want to love your teacher.
She is an absolute Queen! I have never met a single person that doesn't respect her. Absolutely amazing in every way.
In a word, this course is LIFE-CHANGING. Sister Hall is an absolute queen. You'll learn about life just as much as you'll learn how to sing if you sign up for her choirs. And though she expects a lot, it's because she knows you can do it. And her Welsh accent and humor keep you chuckling. Best class ever!
Unfortunately this review won't matter much because she only has one semester left, but Sister Hall is INCREDIBLE! She is inspired and inspiring, and the music that she helps us to sing has touched my heart and the heart of so many others. I have absolutely LOVED everything about men's chorus and I hope that it can continue to be great next year.
Sister Hall is my absolute favorite professor at BYU. She is incredibly inspirational, loving, caring, and is the definition of excellence. She changed my life and creates a genuinely magical environment wherever she works!
Rosalind Hall is the best conductor I have ever sung for, she inspires you to work hard at it, and to be productive and happy in every part of life. This class will take at least 4 hours a week with rehearsals, and sometimes has concerts and rehearsals that can add 6-12 hours on that week. It's an amazing choir and you will learn to sing very well
What can I say? Sister Hall is the best choral director at BYU. She is loved by so many of her choral students, always dedicated to having a well-polished choral sound. I was proud to sing in the Mens Chorus and BYU Concert Choir for all of my years at BYU. Plus, her inspirational stories are the bestMay she enjoy her retirement.
prof hall was awesome
It's not a difficult class, but way too much time commitment for one credit. And it's treated like a pre-MoTab class - in the entire semester we never sang a single song that wasn't about Jesus. I love professional choirs, but I need something with a beat every once in awhile. She took it so seriously that I was bored.
Sister Hall is the best!! She doesn't teach at BYU anymore since she retired a bit ago, but she's a legend. Being part of the Men's Chorus is life changing.
