Nevere ever take a class with her. She's absent a lot and leaves assignements to be done in the LRC when she's not there. Very unorganized and never clear on what she wants. Do not take her.

She is horrible. She's so unorganize, leaves alot of homework, that she never grades, and never clear on what she wants. She's also very rude, and likes to make you feel dum..NEVER TAKE HER!!

Gives tons of homework never grades it until semester is over so you spend the whole semester wondering what your grade will be and then her grades post late. Very unorganized and unclear, lectures are very boring.
She is super unorganized, never gives you any work back, much less grades it. She made me redue a 4 page paper because "it did not follow her guideliness" that she had forgotten to pass out but gave due date for. She ended up ruining my final GP

Very good instructor. She makes the class interesting. She talks about the history as if she were telling a story.

Aww...if there is one thing, she sure is consistant. I don't know how she graded us because it seemed like the assignments were optional. She missed 3 classes and then wanted to make them up on our off time. Lady is CRAZY!! Nonetheless, it was an easy A

the worst teacher i have ever had. she missed 7 classes and the ones she did come to she was late. she never asked for homework then after few months asked why none of us had turned in anything. The dean was told about this but did nothing That semester was not the first time Gonzalez had done it.
Easy Material, horrible teacher! Turned in every assignment that was due and still got a C. Teacher is very forgetful and expects you to make up for the days that she has missed. She says one things and does another. Her test reviews are never what are on the actual test. Do not take this teacher!

Very insightful teacher. Has the ability to explain history and see its impacts today. Willing to help students.Particpation is the key throught her heart.The only thing that i disliked is the lack of difficulty on the tests, an insult to our intelect. Good professor she gave me an A because i went to her office as she ask for you to do if you care at all about your education. Take her she teaches well and the test are easy because she gives study guides which make it easy though the things are not exactly as you think they are going to be on the test.So just take good notes & study them.
Wow! what a space cadet. Had to overlook her coming late to class everyday, She is so unorganized makes you wonder how she got a doctorates. Her good point was lecturing, she is passionate about history. But, all in all I recomend you stay away. Her lack of organization isn't worth dealing with.
Her class is easy if you keep up with your notes. The way she teaches appears to be unorginazed so beware. Other than that she is a cool teacher...just don't talk when she is talking.
Great instructor. Some students don't like her because she does not play around she goes straight to the point. I learned a lot from her lectures and passed the class with an A.
Prof. Gonzalez knows what she is teaching, but you might be a little confuse at first because she is very detail and gets carry away with the topics.So it seems that she gets of topic but she really doesn't because it all relates its up to you to follow. ( tape rec recommended)!!

I learned a lot from Ms. Gonzalez. Her class is easy if you take good notes and do not miss any class. I really enjoyed this class.I did really bad on the first test, but I stilled passed with an A. If you are a commited stud. and do not play around I highly recommed this class.

Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT take her. She is disgustingly unorganized with her lectures. She arrives late to her classes. She goes off subject an awful lot. She is dangerously closed minded and should not be teaching. Her grading methods are poorly reasoned and inappropriately secretive. Avoid her. Take someone else. You'll be relieved you did.
I like this teacher, she tells you what she expects and gives you all the information you need to do good in her tests. Just don't take her if you are not willing to be there everyday and turning in homework.
She does go a little off the subject but she gives you well written study guides. Although some of her test question were a bit misleading, and she was somewhat disorganized. Just take the notes for homework every meeting, and study for the tests. She's one of those teachers you have to keep reminding, clearly because of her disorganization.
Where to begin. The least organized instructor ever. Intelligent and truly moved by the subject, but quite simply, NOT professor material. She's fascinated, yet unable to fascinate. If you insist on taking her class, keep records, because she won't.

Very unorganized and she clearly plays favorites with students. If you take good notes the tests will be a breeze (only 3 choices). She grades everything on appointments in one glance, so show up. Receive an A by following her exact instructions even if they make no sense (e.g. format on notes, outlines, and research paper).

Great teacher! Read the books and enjoy her lectures, the woman has her PHd and freestyles the whole mexican american history of the top of her head. She knows her stuff! TAKE NOTES, READ THE TEXT BOOK! She also has an office to accomodate for Test/quizes if you let her know in advanced. Attendance is a must, homework is turning in class notes!

She makes the tests last minute during her break..they never have everything she says they will. She moves people around if she doesn't think they should sit together.Treats everyone like kids. I had her during the summer, and the class is basically lectures and taking notes and then you take a quiz the next day, and the quizes are super easy. One test each monday, and very flexible teacher she lets you do extra credit so theres no way you can get a bad grade with her.

In order to get in A in this class, you have to attend every single class, do aaaall the homework for every single class and take very good notes. She does give extra credit but she goes back and forth in time in her lectures. Remember to be polite and responsible.

Best history teacher I have ever taken...I am not kidding I had never stayed so focused in just one lecture...she keeps you engaged througout the whole lecture...You will leave class thinking and talking about the lectures and what you have learned....If you really want to learn Mexican-American history take her....You wont regret it....

Prof Mendez is a very intelligent teacher. She lectures purely on memory, and she sure does lecture... take lots of notes, and study and you will do good in the class. I wanted to take her 102 class, but my schedule doesn't permit this upcoming semester. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND (and I don't even know what my grade is yet :)
Professor Gonzalez is very knowledgeable in her department. The class is 90% note taking so get your pen and paper ready because the woman can talk. In order to pass the class you'll need to take GOOD notes and read the chapters. Plus, she gives E.C. by rewriting your notes/reports. You WILL feel like falling asleep, tho. Read/good notes=easy exams

Very unorganized, she will ask YOU what she gave you for homework, and what the previous lecture was about. She will even ask her students if she can borrow a pen or pencil AND paper. She is ALWAYS late to class and then complains that there isn't enough class time given. Her lectures are all over the place. If you want to learn avoid this class.

Worst teacher I have ever crossed upon... BY FAR. Everything was a nightmare; boring, no teaching plan, random assignments, useless note taking and note rewriting, etc.. Oh, and she is EXTERMELY anal aboutt plagarism and if she even suspects you have even copied a sentence from your neighbors notes, she will fail you...ask me all about it.
Most of the people that complain about her class are the ones that are late and don't study or take notes. Prof Gonzalez really stresses the big picture and I really enjoy how she elaborates in lectures and gives little factoids about history that really complete the picture and help you understand. Great professor in my opinion.
Worst class ever! I'm not the picky or complainer kind, and can actually keep quiet and seated...but TRUST ME on this one: DO NOT REGISTER FOR HER CLASS! It's awful. Never has a lesson plan and talks and talks (but repeats many lectures, you'll believe it's deja-vu).

In my 3 years at southwestern college, she is by far the most ignorant,unnecessary,boring, unorganized...and over all useless professor i have had in my academic career. There is no reason for a teacher who stresses organization yet is extremely unorganized and unprofessional, to be teaching. Especially at her age. NOT RECOMMENDED.

The one semester I didn't bother to check this website, and it was the biggest mistake ever. SHE IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST! Daily homework, NEVER uses the books, and super disorganized. Barely on time, and gives people problems when they are late. HYPOCRITE!

All I got to say is I have an average of B+ on all my work in the class and the final grade she gave me is a D. She is not organized at all. I'm sure my grade will change because i am disputing it. Teaches section of Christian Church history in extremely bias way in favor of Roman Catholicism. Distorts facts and dates and doesn't take kind to superior knowledge of a subject on the part of a student. Will not like you if not in favor of her ideas and bias.

She was, by far, my favorite educator that I've ever had. She lays out all the rules in her syllabus, and if you follow instructions, you should get an A with ease. She forced us to keep a weekly journal which was very helpful in having the work really sink in. She is passionate about history and knows it by heart. Great lecturer, sweet and funny.
Don't take this class unless you want to dedicate a lot of time to it, & still get a below average grade. She was absent a few times & didn't notify us at all. She doesn't really talk about actual history, but rather shares personal uninteresting anecdotes--which don't help during tests. If you care about your grade, seek another professor.
