she's awesome. very down to earth and a great person. she's a easy grader and there's no text book. just a lot of writing, which isn't bad even if you don't like to write.

You read one book and then write your own. Simple! The writing part is harder when you are writing from your own experience but other than that, take her. She is the best and not to mention, she has a really good sense of humor. I definately recommend 1000%. : )

When I first found out I would have to write a book that has to be 15 pages, single spaced, I almost freaked out and dropped the class but I'm so glad I didn't! She makes the writing process really fun and easy. You get to write about your choice of topic as long as it pertains you. She's really nice and funny and cares alot about the class.

"She is AWESOME!" Our goal was to write a 15 page story about ourselves. Once you start you will get into this. It might sound difficult but trust me it is so worth it in the end. We workshopped each others papers, which helped me learn a lot. Attendance is mandatory but it's a pretty easy class with a GREAT professor. You'll LOVE it!

Professor has geuine interest in each student and makes class enjoyable. There is lots of interaction among students in the class. Whole class is based around a ten page paper. The paper really isn't that bad, but revising all the students drafts gets pretty tiring quick.

Students do most of the work, write, & publish a brief 10 pg single-space creative nonfiction paper on something in their past that they feel the world must hear. If you don't have any special experiences in life worth narrating, don't take this class. Do science. I loved Ro, her affability, her willingness to help, & her sympathetic understanding.

Basically easy class shouldnt be difficult. Easy A. Jus be sure to be in class everyday u have her. if not ur gonna take a finala final. otha than that u wrie a ten page book which is easy cuz of how she explains how to do it. OMG Roseanne is awesome. Her class was the only class that went by so quickly. She's fun, she's understanding and she's just the best teacher you could meet at SJ. One thing though- she is NOT an easy grader. She's not a tough grader either but I think she gives you what you deserve depending on how much effort you show. I love her!

Roe was one of the best profs ive had. She isnt easy but she gives you so many opportunities to excel in her class. I will warn you, however that her class requires one of 2 things: a medium sized workload through the semester or a TON of work at the end (NOT recommended). I'm proud to say though that in the end, I still did really well with an A

Cool prof. the class got boring at times, but she cared a lot about quality work, and was very understanding. keep up with the work load because at the end, theres a ton of work to do. if attendance is good, no final.

She's a really nice teacher. If you do all the assignments on time and do what she asks you should be fine. Super chill class. No tests. Best class taken so far, write a 2 page piece of your manuscript, everyone gives feedback on it, then write entire manuscript and publish only thing you work on for the semester and the class became super close because we shared our stories with each other, loved it

She is super awesome! Very laid back and fun.All you do throughout the semester is write a book (however long you want it) due the end of the semester with the occasional tasks in between. Learned a lot without having to write a billion essays. Class atmosphere is fun and active and you really do learn a lot about writing. GO FOR HER!!

A really good English professor who cares about her students. She prefers to be called Roe which shows how cool she is. 99.9% of the time class gets out early.

Professor Gatto is probably the best professor I've had at St. John's. In this class you have to write a book. It sounds like a lot but it only has to be 10 pages and about a significant experience or moment in your life. You sit in a circle in class and discuss 2 pages of each other's book for the whole semester. Need to attend but easy A and fun!

You have to attend nearly every class but she cancels class at least once a month. Just don't forget to participate occassionally or else you'll be marked absent. TAKE HER!!

Best class I ever taken! She makes writing really fun. Only have to write a book proposal, 10 page manuscript, letter and a process letter throughout the semester. The 10 pages might seem a lot, but you have the almost the whole semester to do it. No tests and would definitely take this class again!!

A truly amazing class to take. I'll admit that while taking it, it was a bit annoying since there was no defined criteria considering that the entire class was about writing your own novel. However, it actually led me to reflect upon my life so far and really let my creative juices flow. This class will certainly make you think critically.

Professor Gatto was a great professor and her class was so fun to go to! The only difficult assignment for this class was to write a 15 page paper that is a book based on something you experienced in your life. Even though 15 pages seems like a lot, it's easy to write since it's about you and it's basically the only assignment.

AMAZING! This class was so much fun!! I came to this class with an intention that she would be some boring old teacher giving an essay every week. Nope! All we had to do was work on our 10-page paper that was due by the end of the semester. She does an in-class writers workshop to critique you on the first page of your book which is really helpful.

All you do in this class is spend the whole semester writing a 10 page manuscript about the topic of your choice. Also each person in the class gives out there work each class and you need to critique it and then say at least one comment in class. Doing that will get you a B+ so to get the A you need to work a little harder, but not much work.

This is one of the easiest classes I've taken at this university. I took this course during the summer and all we had to do was to write an autobiography. If you show up, participate, and put in effort into your book then there's no way you can fail this class.

At the end of the semester you publish your book, and she makes you write a letter to the person you send it to. As long as you do everything that she asks you to do, you get the A.

She is one of the most amazing professors I have ever had. She is such a caring and uplifting person. She makes the class feel like a family. She gives some great feedback and is available outside of class. She is also hilarious and has great stories to tell in class.

This was a first year writing course that I took. I was SUPERRR easy. Basically had one major assignment that lasted the entire semester. as long as you showed up, participated and handed in that one assignment on time; easy A.

Rose is one of the best professors you'll ever take. I had one assignment, to write and book, and it took the whole semester. Extremely organized, gives grate feedback and is supportive. Participation is mandatory.

For asynchronous: I can tell she is super nice but obviously I did not see her in person so that made the class more difficult. I'm not a great writer but I did bs my book but still got an A so overall I am okay with the class. You should take it

The sweetest person ever. Only one assignment which you work on for the whole semester. It's a short book about any topic or event in your life. This class is super fun and she wants everyone to feel comfortable in the class. We have weekly discussions. Guaranteed A+ as long as you speak at least once in each discussion and do the work!

Spent the entire semester writing a ten-page single-spaced book about ourselves. Seems like a lot at first but you'll quickly get the hang of it. No exams (our final was the portfolio) or homework apart from writing and workshops. Classes ran fairly short, lasting long only for in-class workshops and feedback. Definitely take her course.

Wasn't too bad, everything's spread out. Only critic is she copy and pastes same email/suggestions to everyone. Not sure if she even read books.

She's honestly very nice and understanding as long as you communicate. Assignments are a little tedious, but if you really stay on top of them, you'll be ok. Attendance is very important. You have to actually check Canvas because assignments aren't actually posted as assignments.

Amazing prof and helped even in an asynchronous class. Had to read a creative nonfiction chosen from a list while also writing a 10-page book. The workload was a little overwhelming but I also procrastinated sometimes. Grading was super easy, just do the assignments on time and put effort into your writing.
