SO, ok...She is a nice lady over all. If you are a smooth talker, you can talk her into anything. not a very interesting class, but and easy grade.
If you have a question about the material, she seems to get annoyed, as if you're bothering her. I don't think she likes teaching here
Professor is very nice. However, if you e-mail her with a question you will not receive an answer until a week later. Takes an extremely long time to grade assignments. The class can be a little boring. All in all ... very easy class. Tests are extremely easy. During a review for a test she actually READS the questions right off of the paper.

This class was so interestering. Professor Bello-Truland is a gifted teacher who will take the time to break down information so that you can understand it. She is also very kind and even if you ask a stupid question, she never makes you feel that way. She has a lot of knowledge, experience and so much passion for the topic of social problems.
Miserable lady, miserable teacher. If you keep your mouth shut and blend in you will do fine, but if she does not like your opinion and stances, prepare for her cynical bitterness. Extremely unorganized teacher, very biased, late and in most cases, unresponsive. Can be very ignorant. Assignments are lost and biasly graded.
This professor was great. She presented material that made you think about how we perceive ourselves in a diverse cultural society. I hope to have her again. She really made me use my brain. Most professors cannot do that.

Don't take this class unless you conform to her opinion. Extremely biased, and gets extremely mad very quickly if she disagrees with you. Also a big fan of Karl Marx and constantly critizes America over and over.

I don't understand what this woman was teaching. I am normally very interested in Sociology and I had done great in other Sociology courses but this woman is useless. She makes you do stupid assignments and it seems like she is just winging it.

Shes a nice lady and a good teacher. Tries to help by telling students when she is available to help them study. Tells everyone EXACTLY what will be on the test. Easy A.

very unclear about what she is actually teaching as she always jumps from one point to another so its very confusing. most of all, she is extremely rude and always seems to be miserable. usually hated going to class and had no desire to do the work because of her.

I was excited in the beginning about what we were going to learn but seeing how lazy she was always assigning pointless group work and making us do pointless papers i knew the class was a joke. Interesting prof. She was not willing to help, or give advice to better your work. If taking this online, make sure you post in the DQs at least 3-4 times(even tho she says 2) and the internet connections are usually difficult. Do not comment on not being able to find the info on the website...she doesn't care...find it! Other than that Good Luck!

Teaches online but can't get it to work. She holds her problems against the students. Don't expect to learn in her class just to do a bunch of useless assignments every single week. She offers ZERO flexibility... her world is not a friendly learning environment like you would expect of a sociologist, it is quite the opposite.

Took online. She was not particularly helpful, and was pretty inflexible. Trying to access many of the online assignments was A NIGHTMARE! Wrong/expired links, etc. abounded. Wasted study time searching for the darned info! Repeated, pointless assignments that didn't have critical bearing on the topic at hand. Tho I got an A I don't recommend her.
While she doesn't have great ratings, she's really not that bad or difficult. You MUST read and be willing and able to discuss your personal feedback in class. She expects more of a discussion/reaction based on required reading. Most(if not all)exams were take home essays based on the textbooks. Don't take this class if you don't want to think.
She isn't a bad teacher at all! The tests and essays are really easy, she tells you whats on the test so you just have to study that. I would definitely recommend her to people. Just show up and study and you'll get anything over a C.
Took sociology online. Not a helpful teacher at all!! Do not take this class..She is not a good teacher, and not clear with her assignments, and doesn't answer her e-mails.
She seems nice as a person however is not a good teacher at all. It is an open duscussion type of class. She talks a lot and almost always gets off of topic. Her instructions are vague and her grading system isn't the greatest. Overall I wouldn't recommend anyone I know to her at all.
Took this class online. Overall the class was not bad. Class is based on discussion forum, postings and open ended questions. Make sure you post to others. True/false and multiple quizzes helps when it comes to test time. Good Luck :-)
She posts all of her lecture notes online which are 10x more useful than attending the class. She is an extreme feminist and 100% biased with all of her lectures. She goes off on tangents that have nothing to do with the class. I love Sociology, but not with her as a teacher. Other than that the class is easy.
I took her my first semester at Brookdale, and it was the biggest mistake. She's a nice person, but a terrible teacher. She goes off topic more then half the time and talks too much about herself and not enough about the material. Unless you agree with all of her beliefs then you will have a hard time voicing your opinion. Do NOT take her!
Absolutely AWFUL. Too busy reminiscing on her days as a lawyer than to teach the actual class. Had to rely on the book the entire time. Received a D because I missed one paper. DON'T MAKE MY MISTAKE!

this teacher is down right horrible. i took her class online and she gave me a D.. meanwhile i got 100s on all of the quizzes and tests and passed 2 out of 3 of my tests. she doesn't email back or give extra credit. DO NOT TAKE HER!!! her assignments are ridiculous and her grading system is absurd.
Do not take this course with this professor. She goes off topic all the time and her lectures are extremely vague. The grading is absurd and to top it all off all she talks about is her glory days as a lawyer and expressing her feminism and down right hatred for men. Your better off finding a different professor or not taking this course.

She is a very nice women, she is their for you to help when needed. She loves group work and tries to break the ice for everyone so have an open mind. Try to express your thoughts a bit. Must be able to get along with/deal with others because their are group assignments and a group presentation. You get time to work in class as a group+days off.
Absolutely no point in attending class. Lectures were pointless, non-sequitir, and vague. Tests were a joke and papers were graded on completion even though they were out of 100 points. Clearly puts no effort into teaching. Also, she complains about teaching itself and does not create an environment of learning.

I did not like her at all! She shoved her liberal and feminist views down your throat and if she disagreed with you she made sure you knew it. I would pass on her class unless you are an extremely liberal feminist.
Very strong willed but in a good way. It's not that she is disagreeable, it is her way of challenging you to think differently. Did I agree with her? rarely, but she respected my opinion and I showed her the same courtesy. If you want an easy grade, don't take her classes, if you want to learn, then take her course.

Extensive writing assignments, requires you to visit 3 places from a different culture and write about them. these assignments are 5 to 7 pages each on top of a big term paper and other writing assignments. I would not take this class again with her as a professor. Her syllabus is confusing as to when things are due.

I took her my very first semester in 2013 and I came back now to warn others that she really is not a good professor at all. She shouldn't be teaching, she becomes stressed out by students and yells at the class. She gives many papers which are not clearly explained and is too picky about the content written. If you take her be prepared.

I took her online and it was a pleasure. You have to read and watch videos and respond to them in the form of essays and blog posts. Some assignments were annoying, such as taking pics of your neighborhood and answering questions about it. Not difficult but annoying. I emailed twice for clarification, and she responded quickly
Rosemarie is passionate about what she teaches and cares about her students. If you show up and take notes you can do very well. You might even learn something!!
Never take this professor. She teaches nothing in class. Not a single powerpoint has been used. If you want to pay for someone's opinion this may be for you. Worst professor I have had at Brookdale.
Rosemarie is an expert in her field, but her lectures are unfortunately pretty boring. Be prepared to bust your butt for good marks because it might be hard to score highly on written assignments if you don't write exactly what she wants to hear. Also, she's quite rude to students at times. Overall, I wouldn't recommend her section.
She is not much help and I do not understand if she is a teacher or a critic. tough grader and does not even give much information to answer on. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND save your money and GPA! rather would give this lady a 0 but a 1 is recommended.
This professor told me that attendance doesn't affect your grade but it does. The class is overall an easy A IF you write what she wants to hear. Also, I have talked to her several times in a respectful manner if I had any questions about certain topics and she is out right rude and always seems angry. Don't take this class.

The class is pretty easy in general.. she makes it very long though and splits it up with very long breaks which are horrible if you plan to get out early. I tried to be nice to her and she was always condescending and spoke to me like i was dirt. I thought that was strangely ironic coming from a sociology teacher. Would not recommend but passable.
I took this during the time of the election. WORST idea ever. She is immediately angered toward people with opposing views. If you do not agree with her you are wrong! WE did not learn about soci we learned about Hillary. She is always looking for a fight. She tells you she values opinions but you cannot argue the facts, she will argue anything!!!
This professor gives no homework, and textbook is used at your own will. The class overall was pretty boring, but she is kind and extremely educated. I would take this professor again, she goes over everything that will be on each test, and gives grades back exceptionally fast.

Professor Truland is the best sociology teacher out there she tells you what to study for each exam and quiz you only write 3 papers throughout the semester with videos she provides for more information would love to take her class again
She is obviously knowledgeable and her lectures can be very interesting, but if you ask her a question she looks at you funny. I had a problem with an assignment and she had told me to email it to her will look at it. She never did. She never answered one email. Even after all the times I would consistently remind her during class.
I took this class online and the grading was clear the professor would answer any questions you had, and you need a textbook for class because a lot of the assignments are based off of the textbook. As long as you do all the assignments thoroughly and answer all questions you will get full credit.

Those who had an issue with her should be ashamed of themselves. She was more than generous when people gave 3 sentences instead of 2 pages as she directed. She really only cares if the assignment is submitted, not how good the quality is (I know because I've sent in a few doubtful late-night submissions and still gotten 100%). On the rare occasion that she does take points off, she takes off nearly 50% with no explanation. When I've emailed asking for feedback she has never once responded.

Based on the other reviews Im going to assume that its best to take her online. Never met her, so cant comment on her personality but her online class was the easiest course ever. As long as you submit your assignment on time youre basically guaranteed full credit. I ended the class with a 99 and all I really did was turn everything in on time
I had her for Introduction to Sociology and it was awful. Her criteria for her essays make no sense and she literally gives you any grade shes wants without legitimate reason. The lectures revolve around whatever topic she wants to ramble on about rather than the actual curriculum in the textbook. She is the worst professor I have ever had.

Doesn't get back to you. Assignments not specific, short answers not clear on what she wants. Very mean on her emails She replied to me - "Your grade is the last thing on my To-do List" - after two weeks of me submitting my assignment .. and her not grading it! Will never take her class again.
The NASTIEST professor I have ever had. Typical, super combative, and rude feminist + lawyer who openly admits shes prejudice. Throws a fit every time you ask a question, gets annoyed, and says just check the syllabus. Rude in emails, inappropriately argues with students in front of class, and very full of herself. I took her two years ago and am still mentally scarred. Easily one of the worst professors at Brookdale. The class itself isn't necessarily hard, but she made the experience miserable. She would literally shout down anyone who didn't 100% agree with her views. A great example of why tenure needs to be abolished. Nobody in my class could stand her.
Prof is such a great woman but horrible professor. She rambles with her lectures. Asks pointless questions. She does not give clear notes because she speaks during lectures without guidance, power points, nor white board. Literally stands up front and says "Why? Why not?" after every sentence she says. Overall easy class for an easy A.
I took her online 11 week class. I read many bad reviews for her in-person classes, but her online class was fine. Organized, structured and reasonable work. 1 assignment, 1 discussion each week (plus 2 replies), 2 short papers, & 3 exams. Both reasonable & not difficult. If you're looking to take online and to put typical effort in, take her.
I took her online for 15 weeks and feel like I didn't even have a professor. Her work was self-explanatory but again, it was like she wasn't even there even if it was online. She emailed us a total of probably 3 times even throughout this pandemic. Her assignments are repetitive but easy if you stay on track and get it done.

Difficult to communicate with.I spent over a month trying to get her to reevaluate my essay. I kept politely reminding her and she would say "I'll look at it". She finally changed it on the last day. I felt her grading was kind of just what she felt/no rubric. Does not care if you submit an assignment even a minute late. Easy A if you do the work.
I was a little scared to take her reading these reviews but shes actually pretty decent. Shes aware of her flaws and encourages the students to call her out on them. Shes kind of funny and loves discussions but not disruptions.

Just read the book and answer each assignment with at least 2 pages and you will pass just fine. I took her online class and it was not hard at all. It's an easy A as long as you followed the requirements and submit everything on time. She drops your lowest writing and module grades (I believe it was 2 each). It seems that everyone doesn't like her for in-person classes, so I would recommend taking her online instead.
Do not take!! Hardest grader ever. I used the wrong word once and she failed me on the assignment. With her assignments if you do not use the words she wants you to you fail, I don't think I got a 100% on a single assignment. Also don't even bother emailing her she will not answer.
I was fine with Professor Bello-Truland. She is very discussion-heavy. Just do the easy essay assignments, and make sure you read to pass exams and you'll be fine. She is extremely opinionated though, and may resent you if you disagree with her, so don't participate in discussions if you think you'll disagree with her, lol.

I took women and gender studies through an online format. This class was probably the worst one I have taken at GCU. The teacher would assign a bunch of reading, a 500-100 word discussion (with 2 responses to classmates), and an essay EVERY WEEK. Then she would take a month to grade your work. This class was a nightmare, do not recommend it.
